photocopies, and pictures.
• Integration of skills: reading and speaking.
• Seating arrangement: everyone in their seat, in 6 columns. I cannot even
change students' places as they were assigned by the headmaster.
• Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during the
class: some interruptions, as usual. I already asked the preceptor to only get
into the classroom if it very important.
• Potential problems students may have with the language: beginners may
have problems to understand that the S at the end of the verb is no longer
needed, but once more I’ll recur to the method a teacher I had at secondary
school used, I’ll write “Remember I/you/we/they don’t need an S”.
• Assessment: their ability to talk about leisure activities.
• Teaching approach: Communicative.
Warm up (5')
Activity 1
3. - Good morning my students! How are you? Fine? Let's write the date on
the board, what day is it today? Friday, and the number is...26th, good.
- How is your day so far? Good? I'm glad to hear that. Let's start with
today's lesson.
- You know, I’m a teacher, and I love my job, because I like teaching. Of
course I love dancing too. Everyday I come to school, I have a coffee and I
get into the classroom. On Friday nights, I always go to the disco, and on
Saturdays, I go out with my family and at night I have dinner with friends.
Finally on Sundays I go to the park, I watch TV and I sleep the rest of the
day.
Development (40')
Activity 2 (10')
- Look at this picture, do you know who she is? Can you recognize her?
- Now, let’s read about Lady Gaga’s leisure activities. Underline the words
you don’t know and try to understand their meaning through context.
Everyday I get up and smile as it is another day that begins, just
bright, perfect for me. I could say I just love mi job, I like the effects that
my music has on my fans. I work so hard everyday to keep on growing as a
singer and as a musician. However, from time to time, I just relax. The last
4. weekend of every month is just for me and for my friends. I always travel
to New York, my natal city, and go shopping with my friends. I also dance
in my free time, that’s something I love doing all the time.
Another thing I do to relax is play volleyball. When my friends and I
go to Miami we go to the beach, have some drinks and play volleyball.
Some weekends we go to Las Vegas, and we rock it! We go to discos and
private parties every night and we have a very good time! My life is very
busy, but it is very funny too!
- Did you understand the meaning of the words you have underlined? If
not, I’ll tell you the meaning. (Through mimics and gestures).
While Ss read, I copy the next exercise on the board.
Activity 3 (15')
- Now let’s work all together. Look at the questions I wrote on the board.
Each of you is going to ask one of them to a mate. The Ss who has to
answer has to imagine that is Lady Gaga.
- Do you travel to New York?
- Do you go to parties in New York?
- Do you go out with friends?
- Do you like dancing?
- Do you play sports with friends?
- Do you go out with your family?
- Do you like your job?
- Why do you like your job?
- Do you have drinks on the beach?
- Do you go to Miami?
- Do you usually go shopping?
Activity 4 (10’)
- Very good, now, leaving Lady Gaga behind, let’s look at the list of
activities you’ve got on the photocopies I gave you. Also, look at the
pictures shown on your right. Try to match each of the activities to the
proper picture. (My scanner is broken, but I’ll send you the pictures as soon
as I can).

activities listed on exercise 4 you like best and when you practice it. For
example, I like reading books every night, or I eat in restorants on Friday.
After showing Ss how to model the sentences, I select at random many of
them to tell me his favorite activity and when he does it.
Closure (1')
- That is excellent, very good, well done!
- Remember to revise all the new vocabulary at home! See you next class!
