Fostering Friendships - Enhancing Social Bonds in the Classroom
Group description iii
1. Group Description III
The group I chose to do my practicum (third period), was formed by
twenty-eight students that were about 14 or 15 years old. Most of these
students were used to the way this school works as they had been at this
high school since last year, and some others also since primary school or
even kindergarten, so they were familiarized to the staff and the school
rules.
As these students had already known me since last year, they were
pleased to work with me again, and they were really happy when they
knew they were going to help me again with the recordings and the lessons.
This was a group that loved working hard, they loved helping each
other and fortunately the have changed from last year: they cooperated with
their mates when they were working, but they were still a bit competitive
and they loved working hard to get great grades.
An important aspect of this group was that while they were working
hard they were talking or even shouting, I didn't know how they did it, but
they could concentrate in both things at the same time. The only exception
was when I did the recorded lessons: the whole group was speechless, so
those lessons were the quietest of all.
So, the most important aspect of this group was that they were hard
workers, and teaching in a group like this one that should be a pleasure to
any teacher.
