Warm up (5')
Activity 1
- Good morning my students! How are you? Fine? Let's write the date on
the board, what day is it today? Tuesday, and the number is...22nd, good.
- How is your day so far? Good? I'm glad to hear that. Let's start with
today's lesson.
- Listen to this song, but don't say anything, just listen.
Ss won't watch the video, they'll only listen to the first 38 seconds of the
song.
3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8eXaXoUJRQ
- Do you know her? All of you? Ok, perhaps for boys it's more difficult to
guess, so what about this picture? Who is she? Selena Gomez, very good!!
She is a singer, an actress and a model.
- Now listen to this song
Ss will only listen from 40" to 1' 05".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOI4OF7iIr4
- Who is he? Look at this picture.
- He is Justin Bieber of course! He is a famous singer and dancer.
4. Development (40')
Activity 2 (10')
- Now I'm going to read a text about Selena and Justin’s routines and jobs.
Listen carefully please.
The text was taken from "The teachers magazine", N°35, by Ediba.
Justin: everyday he gets up at 6.30, he has a healthy breakfast and
goes to the gym. Then, at 10 he goes to dance and practices new
choreographies for his shows, he sings 23 songs in one night. At 1pm, he
only has a yogurt with cereal for lunch and continues dancing until 4pm. At
6pm he has some free time so he goes out with friends or with his
girlfriend. At 10pm he has a bistec with salad for dinner, then he has a
shower, and finally he goes to bed at 12 because he has to travel to New
York for his next show.
Selena: every morning she gets up at 6, she has a shower and then
she has yogurt, milk, beacon and eggs for breakfast. At 8 she goes to Mad
Chance Starboard Entertainment studios to continue with her film
Behaving Badly. She goes home at 3pm and she eats a sandwich. At 5pm
she goes to the gym because she is a model too, and has to wear beautiful
clothes. At 7pm she goes out with friends, she loves shopping! And finally
at 10pm she has dinner, she eats lots of fruit and vegetables at night. At 12
she goes to bed.
While I read, Ss can write down things that called their attention or things
they didn’t know about Justin and Selena. At the end of the reading they
can share the discoveries with the classroom.
- Now, what does Justin do? (wait for Ss answer). He is a singer, excellent!
Does he go to the gym? Does he practice for his shows? Does he go to bed
at 1? Very good!
- What about Selena? Does she get up early? Does she go to the gym? Does
she have dinner with friends? What does she eat at night? Does she wear
beautiful clothes? Very good!
Each of these questions are asked to a different student.
Activity 3 (15')
5. - I'll give each of you a copy of the text and I'll write some sentences on the
board, please copy them down in your folders and, according to the text,
say if they are true (T) or false (F), and if it is false, correct the sentence.
Eg. Justin gets up at 5am. (F) Justin gets up at 6.30 am.
a. Selena only has beacon and eggs for breakfast.
b. Justin has a healthy breakfast.
c. Justin gets up at 6.30 in the morning.
d. Selena gets up at 7 in the morning.
e. Justin sings 23 songs in his shows.
f. Selena goes home at 3pm.
g. Justin at 5pm has some free time.
h. Selena goes to the gym at 7pm.
i. Selena wears beautiful clothes.
j. Justin has dinner at 11pm.
k. Selena eats lots of cereals.
l. Selena goes to bed at 12pm.
m. Justin travels to Los Angeles.
- Ok, let's check how you did. The first sentence, Martina, read it please. (I
wait for her to read), is it true or false? False! Good, what does she have for
breakfast? (I wait for her answer). They can work in pairs so they can help
each other.
I continue checking the sentences always choosing a different student.
These sentences were thought by me and Pamela.
Activity 4 (7')
- Let’s continue practicing questions about the routine, open your books on
page 16, look at exercise 5, you have to match the questions and the
answers. Please, work with your partner.
6. - Well, Dante please tell me, where does he live? (I wait for his answer).
Ok, now tell me, where does Justin live? Ramiro, what does she do in her
free time?(I wait for his answer), and what does Selena do in her free
time?.
I'll do the same with the rest of the questions, always asking them to a
different student.
Activity 5 (12')
- Well, now to finish our lesson, please look at this exercise I’m giving
each of you, the sentences are wrong, so you have to correct them. First
turn the sentences into negative as you have learnt with Pamela, using the
auxiliary doesn't, and then write the affirmative sentence correcting the
mistake.
a. Selena Gomez sells things.
Selena Gomez doesn’t sell things. She sings and acts.
b. Justin lives in Australia.
………………………………………………………..
c. Selena has orange juice for breakfast.
……………………………………………………….
d. Justin travels to London.
……………………………………………………….
e. Selena goes to bed at 10pm.
……………………………………………………….
f. Justin has dinner with his parents.
7. ……………………………………………………….
- Let's check the exercise all together. The Pope lives in New York. It is
wrong, why? Because the Pope doesn't live in New York, he lives in the
Vatican. Very good!
I continue checking all the sentences, and Ss read all together the sentences
corrected.
Closure (1')
- That is excellent, very good, well done!
- Remember to revise all the new vocabulary at home! See you next class!
Good bye!
