The Postulates on Russia’s Foreign Policy developed with the participation of the Russian International Affairs Council’s members and experts discuss Russia’s position in the international arena, the role of global challenges in shaping the foreign policy agenda and outline foreign policy priorities for the period from 2012 to 2018. The main purpose of the Postulates is to encourage a public discourse about new contours and orientation of Russia’s foreign policy and to devise the solutions to be protected against traditional and emerging security challenges.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. This peace treaty ended a 30 year war
between Egypt and Israel.
i. The U.S. agreed to provide economic and
military assistance to both countries and to help
negotiate an end to the dispute between the
Israelis and the Palestinians.
2. This treaty angered many Arab states
because they lost Egypt as an ally against
Israel.

5. C. Extensive peace talks (1993, 1995,
1998, and 1999) led to Israel’s
withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and
West Bank.
1. Suicide bombings by Islamic militants
continued to terrorize the people who
live there.
6. D. July 2000 Bill Clinton tried to foster
a peace agreement between Israeli
Prime Minister Ehud Barak and
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
1. After two weeks of negotiations talks
ended without a treaty.
i. Violence between the two groups
continues to be problem for the Middle
East.

8. II. Iraq
A. 1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait. George H.W.
Bush sent U.S. military forces to the
Persian Gulf region.
1. Saddam Hussein, ignored warnings to remove
his troops.
2. January 1991 the Persian Gulf War began with
air raids and the following month, Iraqi forces
were driven out of Kuwait.
i. The U.S. also tried to destroy Iraq’s ability to build
W.M.D.s.
ii. 2003 the U.S. and Britain sent forces into Iraq to
overthrow Hussein and destroy and W.M.D.s.

10. III. India and Pakistan
A. This area has been tense since the
partition of India following WWII.
1. Three wars have been fought over the
disputed region of Kashmir.
2. By 1998 both countries have tested
nuclear weapons.
i. Many fear the consequences if another war
were to break out.

12. IV. Yugoslavia
A. The fall of the Soviet Union allowed
Serbian and Croatian nationalists to
drive Yugoslavia to civil war.
1. Both territories declared independence in
1991.
2. In an attempt to keep Bosnia from
achieving independence, Serbs in
Bosnia Herzegovina and the Yugoslav
government began to kill Muslims within
Bosnia.
13. B. 1998 Kosovo began to seek
independence from Yugoslavia and
unite with Albania.
1. NATO and U.N. Troops eventually
stopped the fighting, but Bosnia remained
ethnically divided.
B. With the formation of Serbia and
Montenegro in 2003, it secured the
disappearance of Yugoslavia.

15. V. Africa
A. With the collapse of colonial rule
many dictators will assume power in
many African Countries.
1. Nigeria and Uganda has been site of
tribal conflicts because of the variety of
ethnic and religious groups which has
prevented the formation of stable
governments.
i. Poverty, wars, lack of food, and poor
medical care has continually prevented
African countries from modernizing their
economies.
