Good day TAPSIANS! How are today ? Are you doing all right? I hope so because today we’re going to learn something new.
So in our past lessons, we learned the pronouncing words with short and broad /a/ sound, and of course the, short /i/ and /long /e/ sound and now we’re going to learn the words with long /i/ and long /e/ sounds. Are you ready? Let’s go!
But before anything else let’s have first our learning objectives of this lesson….
Okay Class, are you familiar with these words? Do you know what vowel sounds have these words?
Okay class in our past lesson we learned about the correct pronunciation of words with short /i/, right? And short /i/ makes the vowel sound most commonly associated with the letter as seen in bit, clip, hid, and tip. While here in our example Set 1, we have here words with long /i/, and the long /i/ sound makes the sound of the name of the letter in question as seen in…
And if you can still remember we also learned about the short /e/ sound, which is, When one-syllable words have a vowel in the middle, the vowel usually has a short sound. And in the Rule of (short e): If a word or syllable has only one vowel and it comes between two consonants, the vowel is usually short. Unlike here in our set 2, the sound /e/, spelled ie is often preceded and followed by consonants. It's usually in the middle of the word but can be at the end. Examples include brief, relief, and rookie. The long e sound spelled ey is usually at the end of a base word.
In this lesson class, we will learned about how to pronounce words with long /i/ and long /e/ sounds correctly. And class remember that long/ e/ and long /i/ are both front vowels.
And let’s now proceed on how to pronounce a word with long /i/ and long /e/ sounds.
… so how will we produce the long /i/?
To produce the long /i/…..
so can you try this one? Get a mirror and see if you are doing it correctly. And say the words, Five, thai, feisty, lied, or cycle.
Is your jaw becomes more closed when pronouncing these words? Yes, if you did it correctly. And now let’s to proceed to producing long /e/ sounds
And now we have the long /e/ sound, so the long /e/ sound….
How we produced long /e/ sound?... Okay to produce the long /e/ sound/ the body of the tongue….
.. Like in the word beat.
Like for examples…. Bleach, bleak, eat, meet.
So do you now understand how produce the long /e/ and the long /i/ sound? If that so, let have more words to practice , and I want you class to repeat it after me,
Okay class, so here are more example words that has long /i/ and long/e/ sound.
Listen carefully as I pronounce the following words. Afterward, repeat reading the words orally and later say them on your own. And please get a mirror for you to see how your jaw moves. In that case you will know if you are doing it correctly.
Okay class, it’s your turn now. Practice these words together with the position of your tongue correctly when your are producing the sounds long /i/ and long /e/ sounds.
after that, use these words in a sentence. And we will check that in our next meeting. So are we clear with that?
