This document discusses the articulators involved in speech production. It describes the different parts of the vocal tract including the lips, teeth, tongue, hard palate, soft palate, and larynx. It also discusses different tongue positions and lip shapes used in vowel and consonant production. Examples are given of tongue position for the vowels in "see" and how the front part of the tongue is raised for different vowels. Rounded, spread, and neutral lip positions are also defined. Short English vowels and their symbols are introduced.
