This document discusses the principles of subsidiarity and solidarity. It defines subsidiarity as solving problems at the smallest level possible. It asks students how they can apply this principle in simple ways. It defines solidarity as valuing fellow humans and building a community that empowers all through mutual respect. It contrasts solidarity with unity and discusses how students can positively influence others through solidarity. Finally, it defines social institutions as groups performing social roles to meet human needs, such as government, families, and universities.

Unity is (uncountable) oneness;
the state or fact of being one
undivided entity while Solidarity is
(uncountable) willingness to give
psychological and/or material
support when another person is in
