Bismark and German Terrority Expansion
In the fifteenth century there is also evidence of individual financial gain motivating territorial
expansion. The death of the Duke of Bedford must be understood as a big reason for the Burgudian
changing sides during Hundred the Wars. As Anne Curry points out from the Burgudian perspective,
Events following Bedford s death proved more difficult to deal with (Curry, A. (2003), on A200
website, p.3). His death resulted loss of a strong leader English leader. However, probably more
important, as Bedford was married to Philip the Good s Sister Anne, the family connection had been
lost. Shortly after, in October 1435 Philip the Good signed the Treaty of Arras and alliance, which
ended a long rivalry, with the Armagnac s. It is clear Philip the Good benefitted from this deal. The
Treaty of Arras resulted in some French lands being given to Philip the Good. In addition, he acquired
greater power in these lands. As an extract from the Treaty of Arras tells us, Philip was not required to
do faith, homage, nor service to the king for lands and lordships (Anthology, 2007, 1.12, p.34). So,
with Philip not having to pay for his new territories, it is highly likely the taxes paid in this French
lands increased Philip the Good s wealth considerably. Philip the Good probably believed once Duke
of Bedford had died he had no moral obligation to maintain the Burgundian alliance with England. As
French had won key battles, he probably decided the Treaty of Arras was a way of gaining

The Frankish Domain In The Carolingian Region
The Germanic tribe known as the Franks built up and administered the Frankish Domain from the fifth
through the tenth century in the old region of Gaul (incorporating bits of current France, Belgium,
Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands). The Carolingian Domain alludes to the lead of the
Carolingian line, which led the Frankish Realm amid the Early Medieval times from 800 to 888 CE.
Amid its time of control the Frankish Domain, traversing parts of present day France and Germany,
had two devout traditions, the Carolingian being the second and most powerful one. The Carolingian
Domain managed the Frankish state in some frame through the mid tenth century. The Frankish Realm
under the govern of the Carolingian tradition was a standout amongst

Joyce Carol Oates Is An American Writer Who Writes Poetry,
Joyce Carol Oates is an American writer who writes poetry, short stories, novels, and nonfiction. She
published one of her short stories called: Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? in 1993. In
this particular story, Oates writes about a young teenage girl, who in my perspective the fifteen year
old girl liked getting the attention from everyone, especially from boys. Her name was Connie; the
young girl who lived in her own little world dozing off most of the time, and always standing out in
the crowd. In the beginning of the story, the narrator described Connie closing her eyes, daydreaming,
and zoning out after seeing her family drive off to a barbecue. In the story, Connie didn t seem to be

the reader can identify the words that go with every moment it reveals. After Connie saw her family
drive off to the barbecue she sat down on the porch and closed her eyes, daydreaming and zoning out.
At that moment Connie could ve fallen asleep, it s normal for humans to experience dreams that seem
real or sometimes reliving situations that might have happened before and would like to experience
again, but can t experience it in the real world. After reading this story, I asked other readers who have
read the story more than once and what were their thoughts on it. Most of them didn t know how to
respond to the question, they had to look back at the story and re read. I can say that half of the people
I asked said that what happened could have been real, and the rest said that it might have been a
terrifying Deja vu that Connie

Pl. magon mægen meahton In the simple future usage, the different meanings of shall and will
depending on which grammatical person is being used is an example of suppletion, the commingling
of words from separate roots into a single paradigm. Both shall and will are verbs of ancient Germanic
ancestry. In Proto Indo European, an inflected future tense existed, but that tense was lost in
Germanic. In all Germanic languages, the future tense is formed with auxiliary verbs; this was the
case in Gothic and the earliest recorded expressions of Germanic languages. The verb shall represents
Old English sceal, and is cognate with Old Norse skal, German soll, and Dutch zal; these all represent
*skol , the o grade of Indo European *skel . All of these verbs function as auxiliaries in each language,
and represent either simple futurity or necessity. The verb will is cognate with the noun will, of course,
and continues Old English willan, which represents *willjan. It occurs in Old Norse vilja, German
wollen, Dutch willen, Gothic wiljan; it has many relatives outside of Germanic as well, including, for
example, Latin velle to wish for or Polish (West Slavic) ja wolę I would rather / prefer. All of these
forms derive from the e grade or o grade of Indo European *wel , meaning to

The Human Nature Of Humans
Many researchers have tested the theory that humans are naturally war loving. A fair viewpoint, from
the article Evolutionary Life , is that human nature is not one thing, neither good nor bad overall.
People in general have been genetically endowed by evolution with a wide variety of tendencies and
capacities that respond to but are not necessarily controlled or determined by their environment
(Atlee). With this, it s fair to draw a line between how humans were made to act and how they act
today. In the earliest stages of human life through the present, humans have fought, hunted, and killed
their way through life. Today s difference to the past is not much different besides the means we use to
go about the deeds. Businessmen, politicians, and numerous other professions utilize harmful tactics
in order to get what they desire. For example, a politician exposes the underlying evils of another
candidate in order to gain votes, much like how the infamous Salem Witch Trials were pursued in the
late seventeenth century when others cried witch in order to avoid being tortured and killed
themselves. While one may argue that cavemen were, in some aspects, biologically different than we
are today and that they were not exposed to as much as we are, one cannot argue that we are not still
instinctively caveman like. We hunt and gather food; we create new and improved ways of killing
enemies or food source; and when we don t like how or what someone else is

1. What is the most significant thing you learned in today s class? In today s class, the most significant
concept which caught my attention was the free ridership in international organizations. In fact, the
issue is one which is very concerning as several countries in NATO have fallen short of fulfilling their
commitment to the alliance which has weakened the capability of NATO. Also, Canada might soon be
falling into the free rider category as we have not decided on what our commitment to UN
peacekeeping missions would look like. (Note, I have studied bandwagoning, but not free ridership).

Assignment Questions On Workplace Negotiations
Assignment Choice #2: Workplace Negotiations In any negotiation, there must be two or more parties,
a conflict must exist, and the parties must negotiate by choice (Lewicki, Barry, Saunders, 2011). A
common form of negotiation is salary and schedule, which can be achieved in a distributive bargaining
situation. A distributive bargaining situation exists when two parties each have different points of
interest, including an asking price, target point and resistance point, and they work together through
concessions exchange to reach a negotiated agreement and commit to it (Lewicki et. al, 2011). In this
exercise, I am negotiating with my manager for a raise and flexible working arrangements of four 12

Residential Paintings
As a homeowner there is nothing more exciting than the idea of painting your home yourself. A fresh
coat of paint makes everything look so much better right? You can choose colors for the inside or the
outside and just get to work! Maybe you will even use a paint sprayer because they look like they get
the job done fast!
Are you out of your mind? Have you thought about the work involved, especially if you are
considering doing your own exterior painting? All of the scraping and cleaning that needs to be done,
the preparation for laying on a new coat of paint and the small repairs that are going to be inevitable
are going to be your job. If you have experience, and time then go ahead and jump right in there and
get that job done. If you don t have any experience it might be time to think about painting services. ...

A reputable painting company should be able to provide these.
Find out if they are experienced with house painting. Residential painting is very different from
commercial. If you need interior painting, make sure to specify. Talk to people who have had similar
jobs done for them. This is a great way to find a good painting service.
Ask for what materials and paint they are using. Make sure everything is quality. Quality lasts longer
and always makes for a much better finished product no matter what the painters skill.
Ask about a warranty! These are worth the money as they often deal with touch ups and other paint
issues inside and outside of your home. This can save you a lot of stress in the future.
If you have any other concerns such as environmental friendliness then it is up to you to ask pertinent
questions. You are the customer, and you are inquiring about purchasing their services which should
be reputable and consistent. Ask for a list of the products they plan to use on your home. If you do not
like their selections, you can always supply your own

Negative Effects Of Pesticide
Pesticide is a chemical widely used around the world for many different reasons. Being a highly toxic
chemical, pesticide has been found to be particularly harmful to children s health. Because children s
immune systems are not as developed as that of an adult, their susceptibility to developing health
issues from exposure to the toxic chemical is much greater. This is due to the fact that children s
bodies lack the enzyme that allows them to detoxify and deactivate the chemical from their bodies
(Ding and Bao, 2013). In turn, pesticide may have adverse effects on the physiological development of
young children. There are various ways in which children may be exposed to different pesticides. The
degree at which children are exposed to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Exposure to pesticide is one example of an improper condition for early child development. In some
cases, exposure to pesticide may impair lung functioning and respiratory health. Interested in this
phenomenon, Raan, Harley, Balmes, Bradman, Lipsett, and Eskenazi (2015) conducted a study to
analyze to effects of early life exposure to toxic chemical, specifically organophosphate pesticide, on
the respiratory system. In order to evaluate the repercussion of pesticide exposure, the researchers had
to conduct a longitudinal study on children from birth and reanalyzed them at age five and seven
through a questionnaire. From this, researchers were able to disclose that exposure to pesticide is
linked to higher risk of asthma and other breathing problems, for instance wheezing, coughing, and
shortness of breath (Raan, Harley, Balmes, Bradman, Lipsett, and Eskenazi, 2015). Children are more
susceptible to these toxic chemicals due to lung development during this age. With exposure to
pesticide, the lethal chemical makeup of pesticide may interfere with the lung s development, thus
leading to mutations or abnormalities. Furthermore, childhood is also a crucial period for brain
development and functioning. Any impairments to the brain at this age may cause lasting effects that
will extend into adolescence and adulthood. Therefore, excessive exposure to pesticide may disturb
the cognitive functioning of children

Slammed by crosstown artists at the Brisbane Powerhouse. The production was performed by the
Brisbane based production company, Crosstown Artists. Crosstown Artists strive to produce and
promote a range of quality artistic works with fiscal sustainability. From graffiti to hip hop to
burlesque to poetry, Crosstown Artists passionately provide extraordinary opportunities for performers

issues that teenagers face daily. The extended response will examine and analyse the dramatic
elements and conventions used throughout this thought provoking and engaging performance.
Set in a fictitious high school, Slammed follows the story of Jake Ryan, a 15 year who is having a
tough time after being neglected by his father and abandoned by his mother. However, as Jake battles
his way through Year 10 we learn that he is not the only one getting slammed. The specific themes

tension, role, mood and symbol. An example of heightened tension would be when Jake Ryan had just

hate you . This created tension because earlier on in the play Jake told Emily that if you were to tell
someone you hate them you had to say it not yell it because otherwise it had no meaning. However
this example was not the only heightened tension scene from the production. The scenes that Jake

Ecotopia Big Wood Summary
In my excerpt of the reading, In Ecotopia s Big Wood s, Weston laments on Ecotopia s vast forests that
are treated with human dignity. The forests are looked at in a religious matter and treated like family.
The logging system includes education on the importance of trees in nature and how they must be
preserved by any means necessary. Weston even writes about a young man, who he points out did not
seem under the influence, leaning on a tree and saying, Brother Tree! . This appears to be the
consensus of every citizen in Ecotopia. The scientists of Ecotopia have even developed biodegradable
plastics out of tree pulp. Trees and the forests of Ecotopia are without a doubt a major factor in the
Ecotopian economy. Weston points out that in the America of the time, and arguably the America of
today, would find this to be not only a huge contradiction but also an economic penalty as a waste of
time. In America, time is money and the time it takes to reforest a logged forest, let alone teaching
those who are doing the logging about the importance of the forest would be looked at as a waste of
time and therefore money.
However, Weston appears to be appreciating this sentiment the Ecotopian society attributes to their
way of life and social norms. I read a few more excerpts from the book because I found it very
interesting how similar Ecotopia is to modern California s, and the northwest in general for that
matter, approach to environmentalism. Although Ecotopia is an exaggerated version of modern day
California, it is without a doubt based on what California was becoming and eventually became.
Recycling bins everywhere, civilized hippies starting their own communities in Northern California,
etc. Ecotopia is without a doubt based on California and the rest of the North West.
Being from the East Coast, I could vaguely relate to Weston in my shock of how different the same
country could be depending on the coast you resided on. I m not sure how many other states make you
pay for bags at the store, but I can assure you that much of the South and Southwest would have a
heart attack if they had to pay for their own bags. I consider myself an extremely Green individual,
recycling and reusing at every opportunity even

Essay on Characteristics of Dolphins
Characteristics of Dolphins
The majority of small tooth whales are called dolphins. Dolphins are mammals of the order Cetacean
and the families Plantanistidae and Delphinidae and include about 50 species (Internet 1). Most
dolphin species are about 6 feet in length, the males averaging 4 to 8 inches longer than females. The
longest dolphin, the bottle nose dolphin, can reach over nine feet in length and weight up to 440
pounds. The smallest dolphin species is the buffalo which is found in the Amazon River. The Buffalo
dolphin rarely grows over 3.9 feet or weighs more than 66 pounds. A dolphin s diet consists mainly of

A dolphin s normal cruising speed is about 23 to 25 mph, and if they are bow riding, they have been
known to get up to 30mph. Because dolphins are mammals (warm blooded) their internal temperature
is between 97.9o to 99of. They normally come to the surface to breathe about every two minutes. Each
breath consists of a short, almost explosive exhalation, followed by a slightly longer inhalation.
Dolphins can hold their breath for up to several minutes and are capable of rapid and deep dives of
more then 1,000 ft. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small quantity of valuable oil
extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch mechanisms. Since cheaper oils
have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer hunted for this reason. Many
dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna nets. Between the years 1959
and 1972 an estimated 4.8 million dolphins died this way (www.thedolphinplace.com/facts.html).
Because of the pressure from animal rights activists and United States consumers, both domestic and
international tuna canners have refused to accept shipments from fishing fleets that do not protect
dolphins. The Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, amended in 1988 and 1992, was passed to

Children s Development As An Integral Part Of A Child...
Play is important in a child s development as it helps in the child s cognitive, emotional, physical and
social development. It is through play that the child is able to interact and engage with the world
around them and discover new things such as the objects they fiddle with and the lessons that they will
soon learn from interacting with toys and people. Under article 31 (leisure, play and culture) of the

this action when they line their stuffed toys around them and taking on the motherly role, pouring tea
out of teapots for the stuffed toys. Here we see children taking on realistic adult roles that they have

by understanding, they build a new schema in their brain in relation to what a mother is and in the

Play can help develop a child s emotional aspect with the use of transitional objects. Transitional
objects such as a child s teddy bear or doll can act as the child s first stepping stone into reality, which
might be too complicated for the child to handle all by himself. Emotionally difficult situations to a
child such as not receiving enough love or craving for more love from adult figures but yet, unable to
gain it, may turn to his teddy bear for comfort and a sense of belonging. In this case, playing with the

Abortion And The Social Aspects Of Abortion
INTRODUCTION
It is estimated almost half of pregnancies in Australia are unplanned . Unexpected pregnancies happen
for various individual, social, economic and political reasons . The World Health Organisation (WHO)
approximates one in three women in Australia will have an abortion procedure in their life . Abortion
data is only gathered by South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. However,
South Australia is the only state to publish data and report findings annually. Abortion is a heavy topic
which has the nation spilt into two groups; pro life or pro choice. Pro life is in favour of the foetus and
they believe that by killing the foetus it is equivalent to murder. Pro choice is for abortion, as they
believe that the woman has the choice to do what she wants with her body. This report will cover how
religion deals with abortion and how it can clash with modern ethnicity, abortion safety, the
repercussions of abortion and the social aspects of abortion.
RELIGION VS ETHNICITY
Religious communities have had a convoluted history in regards to abortion. The Catholic Church of
Australia states the direct and voluntary killing of an unborn is gravely immoral. No reason, however
serious or tragic, can ever justify the deliberate killing of an innocent human being . Abortion is not
explicitly forbidden within the Bible; as neither the Old nor New Testament condemns it. As a social
norm, however, Catholic s believe that life starts at conception via

The Life and Accomplishments of Sir Francis Drake Essay
The Life and Accomplishments of Sir Francis Drake
The British Empire was a World dominant force throughout the 17th, 18th, and 19th century, but if it
wasn t for the naval defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588, the British might have never settled what
would be the United States. And the person we have to thank is none other than Sir Francis Drake, a
common man whose rise from a small country town, to the mighty dragon that the Spanish feared, was
the most brilliant Captain during the Elizabethan Era. Sir Francis Drake s privateering in the
Caribbean and the Pacific were the staging grounds for the destruction of the Spanish Armada and the

It is my belief that Francis Drake s motivation for the attacks on the Spanish monarchy are a indirect
result of the attacks on the Protestants by the Roman Catholics in England at that time. Furthermore
the adventual destruction of the Spanish Armada is the result of these attacks on the Spanish shipping
in which Protestant Captains like Drake were directly responsible. The underlying reason for the
Spanish and English war is the clash of Two European religions in Europe and the new world; among
other things like wealth and power. Their are three cruises that show his brilliant seamanship and great
leadership, but these cruises show also that he wasn t one to stick his orders and follow his plans. This
is the reason why he was so great, his ability to improvise. But before we look at his seamanship
practices we need to look at his early years to understand his reasoning behind his hatred for the
Spanish and their religion. This hatred would help him be one of the most successful privateers of the
time.
Francis Drake was born on a farm, at Crowndale, near Tavistock in Devon, in the last years of Henry
VIII, some time between 1540 and 1545. Some say more precisely around 1543. His father, Edmund
Drake, a seaman before he married, and after he settled down was a farmer. In

Change In The Music Of Today s Music Industry
Looking back at the music that everyone enjoyed a few decades ago, and then compare it to todays
genre of music there are many differences. In the past two decades alone there has been a drastic
change in the music that is considered popular. Going from a four man band that play instruments to
one person pressing buttons on a computer and using auto tune. The talent in today s music industry
has obviously declined over the years. As the music we listen to continues to change and trends come

Sylvia Plath Daddy
Relationships can be hard to manage, especially when it comes to family. The poem Daddy by Sylvia
Plath is about a cynical father who died and left his daughter a wreck. Although the father was a bad
man, his daughter thought the world of him. The speaker of the poem hates her father because she
wants to be like him even though he was not a good man. At a few different places throughout the
poem, the speaker states that her father was anything but a good man. She describes a photo she has of
him in front of a blackboard with, A cleft in your chin instead of your foot/But no less a devil for that,
no not (53 54) which implies that her father had a cleft, much like the cleft foot the devil is commonly
pictured with, and it didn t make him any less of a devil due to its improper location. ... Show more

The end of that line sounds like the narrator could be sarcastic, as if her father never had time to listen

time away from her. He died when she was ten, and at age 20 she tried to commit suicide because she
wanted to be close to him again that even being in the same coffin would suffice (60 65). The closest
she could be to her father alive was by marrying a man who embodies her father, particularly his dark

Fur Trade In Western Canada
The fur trade was not a clearly European invention; it started as a piece of larger and very old motif of
trade between native people. This is the fact that explains why so many native groups across North
America adapted to trade with Europeans so rapidly. There is no absolute explanation, that who and
where fur trade started. The documenting of written history in Western Canada begins with the
formation of fur trade and in 1670 the Hudson Bay Company was established which dominated the
western development. It all started when the Europeans came to Canada, during that period, the fur
trade was operated by the Europeans and the Aboriginal peoples. To establish a relation with Canada,
Europeans started marrying Aboriginal women s who helped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Why the Giver Should Not Be Banned
Giving The Giver Back to CMS Library According to the American Library Association (ALA),
young adult novels are challenged with the best intentions. In most cases a parent will read a book that
their child might be reading in class to find out if the book is hazardous to their child s well being. If
the novel seems problematic, the parent then challenges the book. Even though the purpose of
challenging a novel is to keep children from reading about issues that may not be seen as appropriate
for their age group, censoring children from difficult subject matter is not always the solution. There is
always controversy when difficult issues arise in adolescent geared novels. Even though there are
many concerns with Lois Lowry s The Giver, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can t request a release, I know that. But what if something happened: an accident?. . . Then there
would be a new Receiver, but you have already given away an awful lot of important memories, so
even though they would select a new Receiver, the memories would be gone except for the shreds that
you have left of them? And then what if (Lowry 143).
Jonas is feeling things that no one in his community has ever felt before. He is beginning to
understand that others are missing out on important emotions. He knows that The Giver has already
given away most of the memories, and in order to stop the process, he must make a sacrifice in order
for his community to be aware of what they are missing. This proves that he is conscious of the fact
that his community is not perfect, and the act of staging an accident is a noble, selfless thing to do;
something that his perfect peers would not understand. When talking about the harms of banning
books and by quoting Lois Lowry, Jennifer Kendall states, The world portrayed in The Giver is a
world where choice has been taken away. It is a frightening world (Kendall). Kendall makes the point
that the Utopian society is not something that people strive for. As a middle schooled child, it is easy
to see that life is not perfect. I feel as if Lowry does a great job in showing the reader that Jonas does
understand that his community is not perfect, and he goes to great links to stop the perfection. While

Parable Of The Wedding Banquet Essay
The Parable of the Wedding Banquet Short Analysis Throughout his ministry on earth, Jesus taught a
number of his lessons through parables, or short and simple stories used to explain a certain moral or
spiritual lesson. Many of these parables were relatable to the Jewish people of Jesus time, and were
taught in a way that the common people could understand them. Some allude to the nature of the
Kingdom of God, while others teach people to treat others. The Parable of the Wedding Banquet, as

The marriage as a whole represents the Kingdom of God. According to author Matthew Henry, The
King is God, a great King, King of kings. (Henry p.1725). The marriage is for His Son, Jesus, with the
church as His bride (p.1725). The servants represent the early prophets and apostles, sent to bring the
invitation to the Kingdom to the Jews (Darby, Henry, Johnson).
The king, God, extends the first invitation to attend the Kingdom out to the Jews. The people invited
refuse to come, some even mistreating and killing the messengers. When the parable refers to the
destruction of the Jews when the king sends out his army to burn their city. The city, according to
Henry, refers to the destruction of Jerusalem, which is burned about forty years later (Henry p.1726).
Then, the invitation is extended to everyone, included the Gentiles (Darby, Henry, Johnson). Everyone
is now invited to enter the Kingdom of Heaven no matter their social status. Though everyone is
invited, Jesus warns against hypocrites. The garments that the guests wore represent the righteousness
of Christ (Wesley, Johnson). Those not clothed in this righteousness are those in the church who are
false friends to Jesus Christ, who say that they love him while in their hearts are not with him. (Henry
p.1727). Jesus warns us against being hypocritical and to accept Jesus as the Savior, lest we be

My College Journey
During my twelve years of school, I have grown accustomed to knowing the people and businesses in
my city, and they knew me. I didn t realize it, but the comfortable environment of knowing my
neighbors was limiting my emotional and social maturity. I did not have a reason to step outside the

challenges that will offer a fresh start, on beginning a new chapter of my life. There will be stumbling
blocks towards transitioning to college life. These blocks involve meeting new people, being self

will be many lessons learned. These lessons will only build me as an individual mentally and socially.
What I have learned during brief time at Xavier is that I am now willing to allow myself to fly in the

instance, according to the article 10 Celebs Who Faced Their Fears on HuffPost, actress Sofia Vergara

The ancient site of Tanis in the Egyptian Delta has been the subject of much examination in relation to
its identity as the official location of the site. The proposed sites of Avaris and Pi Ramesses were
thought to be the location of Tanis. Due to heavy recycling of furniture, décor and construction

known to be the capital of the Egyptian XXIst XXIInd dynasties, as many findings suggested

Providing evidence supporting the points proposed by Yoyette, M. Bietak s article Avaris the Capital
of the Hyksos explores the most recent excavation at Tell el Dab`a, which is the modern site at the
location of Avaris. Following on from the information Yoyette addressed, Bietak indicates that there
was a struggle with determining the location of the site Tanis, as compounded information suggested it
was the either the site Avaris or Pi Ramesses.
The article goes on to analyse the excavations in the late 20th century by the Austrian Archeological
Institute in Cairo and the Institute of Egyptology of the University of Vienna (Bietak 1996 40). Again
a problem surfaced when multiple artifacts confused the two sites of Pi Ramesses and Avaris, such as
retrieved portals belonging to houses of high officials from the Ramesside period. Findings such as
these only reinforced the view that the site of Tell el Dab`a was Piramesses. Egyptologist Labib
Habachi confirmed through his research and findings that the site was infact Avaris, capital of the
Hyksos (Bietak 1996, 40).
Bietak s document then looks into the architecture of the site, as well as surrounding agriculture,
geographical location in regard to water sources and viable materials and the distance between Qantir
and Tell el Dab`a.
Both Yoyette s and Bietak s articles discuss the close proximities of Avaris and Pi Ramesses. Sharing

Organizing Function of Management
Organizing Function of Management
The second of the four basic management activities is organizing. By setting up and implementing the
correct organization form or structure for their size and their people, a company can fulfill its purpose
and make the necessary profit to continue, or even to excel. These structures will more than likely
change over time as the company grows and changes, but this is the ‘nature of the beast and what
most of Corporate America have come to expect.
The most efficient way to set up a structure for organization and management is to evaluate their

Human Resources
As so much time has been spent on the other areas I spoke of, no system has ever really been put into
place for human resources. The human resources department consists of one person, who is also the
bookkeeper. When an application comes in, it goes to her and she sorts out the one who just do not
have the qualifications we need. She then calls and sets up interviews for these people. From this
point, it is a bit of a jumble, but typically it hits the same basics. The candidate speaks to the manager
of the area looking for personnel, and usually approves or disapproves of him/her on the spot. Then
the ball goes back into the bookkeeper court and she sends them for a drug test, issues an employment
packet, and a timeport that will record their hours for payroll. This same one woman is also our
benefits coordinator, accountant, bookkeeper, office manager, and any other projects that come down
the pike that the receptionist is unable to handle.
Again, this is an outdated system, which is extremely unfair to the ‘girl Friday . At this time, this
structure works without an overly stressful amount of workload on her. It will not be

The Catastrophic Disaster Struck Japan Essay
On March 11, 2011 two catastrophic disaster struck Japan; a natural disaster in the form of a tsunami
that followed an earthquake resulting in a man made disaster, a nuclear power plant meltdown. The
Fukishima nuclear power plant meltdown resulted from multiple system failures. When the tsunami
waves struck it was double the size of the height of the plants seawall, which flooded the plant (Edge,
2011). Water ended up in the basement of the power plant rendering the backup diesel generators
inoperable and unable to cool the reactors (Edge, 2011). The entire Fukishma plant lost power, causing
malfunctioning of the plant and a nuclear meltdown. Initially, the Japanese government ordered an
evacuation of everyone within two miles of Fukishima, but after an explosion shook the plant, the
government widened the areas to 12 miles forcing more than 100,00 people to flee (Edge, 2011).
Interestingly, the United State government advised American in Japan to stay at least 50 miles away
from the Fukishima plant (Davis, 2011). I do not believe that we can ever be fully prepared for a
natural disaster that facilitates a nuclear meltdown. Nuclear power is an efficient and inexpensive way
for communities to get their energy needs met. Economics and government politics will always be a
factor in regulating the energy industry, which has a vested interested in promoting fossil fuel
consumption. Logistically, anticipating and preparing for every possible nuclear meltdown is

Difference Between California Legislature And Usa
Although studies have shown that the key differences between the U.S. Congress and the California
legislature is causing the California legislature to become a weaker body, Political scientists believe
that these two bodies can still create a major impact for our government by making decisions on how
to boom up the economy. These eight differences between the two bodies are proving society that
individuals can lead a proper lifestyle today by passing laws that will improve our water supply,
agriculture, stock market and many more.
First, the U.S. Congress and the California legislature have different term limits or number of years
that they can serve in an elected office. These terms were executed by the Proposition 140 passed in
1990. Just as long as the U.S. Congress is reelected, they have an unlimited term. The California

reduce or eliminate the specific spending item and not increase the bill, California legislature members

Tuesdays With Carrie Theme
A wise old, sick man once said, Because if you ve found meaning in your life, you don t want to go
back. You want to go forward. This man is the late Morrie Schwartz, a former college professor at
Brandeis University. In his mid 70s, Morrie was diagnosed with the dreaded disease of ALS, better
known as Lou Gehrig s Disease. Every few Tuesdays, Mitch Albom, a sportswriter and now a well
known author, would go to his old professor s house and talk about life. The book, Tuesdays with
Morrie, is a documentary of every Tuesday spent with him. Throughout the book, many themes were
exhibited in the page. A few of those themes include love, life and death, and the rejection of culture.
With each week going by with Mitch, Morrie displays those themes. The first theme shown repeatedly
through the novel, is love. Love is a word that many of us dream to have one day. Some are destined
to find the one, and some are meant to be on their own. A few have trouble finding love for others, and
won t let it come out of them. To Mitch, Morrie said one thing about love that really meant a lot The

Morrie died in 1996, but his soul still lived in the 60s. He would go to dance clubs and play his own

everyone was chanting, WE ARE NUMBER ONE! Morrie decided to yell, What s wrong with being

case was during the war, when he decided to give all of his students As so they would not get drafted

Dodd Hall Architectural Analysis
Florida State University s Dodd Hall an elaborate example of Gothic Revival architecture. Dodd Hall
is a representative significant piece of Florida State University s historic fabric and academic history.
The university s rich history is illustrated in its construction from its main entrance to its series of
custom stained glass windows in the Werkmeister Humanities Reading Room. Architectural influences
of French Gothic period help to strengthen both the structure s interior and exterior architectural
integrity.
Built between 1925 and 1929, then later remodeled between the years of 1991 and 1993, Dodd Hall
was constructed to establish excellence in architectural design that would provide an aesthetic as well

Evidence of these structures influence are found in Dodd Hall s construction. The Abbey Church of

stone as opposed to brick like Dodd Hall, the dark Romanesque structure, with its thick walls and
small window openings, was built in what is now referred to as the French Gothic style. In this style,

The Pros And Cons Of Global Warming
Warming
Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth s atmosphere generally
attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants
(Collins). The current climate changes that are occurring all over the world have sparked a growing
controversy on whether global warming is true or false. Many of these individuals who play a role in
this controversy argue that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s
geological history or that it is simply caused by an increase in the brightness of the sun. This point of
view is understandable as humanity is dependent on the climate for survival. However, many
climatologists and scientists have found that the current climate changes are much more worrisome
than previous climate changes. They have found that carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have increased over
the years because of an increase in the use of coal, oil, and gas and that the Earth s current pattern of
warming is greater and faster than that of prehistoric warming episodes.
The first argument many individuals would make against global warming is that the current climate
changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history. Global warming would
easily be proven correct if Earth s temperature had been stable for the majority of its geological
history. However, for over two million years, during the Ice Ages, Earth s temperature rose and fell

Quit Claim Deed Essay
Change is a part of life and business. So is the action to transfer deed title of ownership. For some the
decision is a result of acquiring new property. It may also be related to family circumstances requiring
a name be removed, changed or added onto the property title. The property transfer involves legal
forms to change the recorded deed, some research on the property and the names of all the parties
involved in the transfer. Basic information about the property is obtained through the county recorder
s office where the property is located. The information received from the county contains the name of
the owner filed on the deed title, the property s legal description along with the property s historical
information and data. Meeting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The quit claim deed allows the current owner to relinquish any claim or interest to a deeded property.
In real estate most of these transfers occur between family members. Quit claim deeds do exactly what
they named, they transfer property titles quickly. It is more common to use this type of deed when
transferring property as part of the estate planning for personal assets. For example, your grandparents
pass away and leave property to several of their children. All of the surviving children agree to release
their interest to one of the siblings. In this case the quit claim deed is signed by all of the parties and
the new deed is transferred to the single sibling as a sole owner.
Lack of Warranties and No Guarantees
A quit claim deed does not provide the new owner with any promises or guarantees. Diligence is a
must in this case. Whether the parties know each other or not, the rights of the transferring owner
should be verified. Due to the lack of guarantees with this type of deed a title search is suggested. The
search may uncover liabilities or risks to the new owner. The search will confirm the property is free
of any liens or claims. If the new owner signs the quit claim deed without doing any verifications they
may be subjected and responsible for paying any debt connected to the property.

Flume Drop Essay
Harley Edward Streten, aka Flume, is an Australian DJ and record producer. There isn t anything
special about him appearance wise unlike other DJs, such as Marshmello or deadmau5, who have a
distinct look. Flume usually sports the generic frat boy uniform consisting of chubbies, a button down,
and boat shoes. His music, however, is unmistakeable. His debut studio self titled album, Flume, was
released on November 9th, 2012 and introduced the world to what is now known as the Flume drop .
According to HP Cheung of Hypebeast, the Flume drop can be best described as heavily compressed,
shimmery, oscillating, side chained, pitch bending, white noise integrated wall of sound. His most
popular songs, Holdin on , a remix of Lorde s Tennis Court and Disclosure s You Me are the best
examples of the Flume drop. There is more to his music other than his recognizable drop. When asked
about how he came about developing his signature sound, he explained that
Firstly, I wanted it to be really melodic, but not necessarily for the club, so it could be listened to on
headphones. Secondly, I wanted to project the feeling that hip hop has rhythmically. I love dance

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Extroverts
On the Internet, introverted users can be more outgoing, confident, and sociable because the lack of
non verbal cues, control over personal information disclosed, and ability to process conversation in
slower than real time provides increased control over one s self presentation, making social interaction
less overwhelming (Bargh McKenna, 2004; Eysenck, 1954; Eysenck, 1967; Turkle, 2011; Zhao,
Grasmuck, Martin, 2008). Maldonado, Mora, Garcia, and Edipo (2001) found that introverts sent
computer mediated messages with an extroverted tone and these messages contained more
information than those sent by extroverted individuals. The Internet offers introverts the opportunity to

individual is willing to explore new situations. Individuals who are open to experience generally
prefer variety, novel experiences, and are intellectually curious whereas individuals who are low in
openness are typically conservative, prefer uniformity and are intellectually disinterested (Glass et al,

been found to be correlated with users personality and social media use (Correa, Hinsley, de Zuniga,

Why is a EU political system sui generis ?
Introduction
The XX century was very revolutionary. There were not only two World Wars but the establishment of
different organizations that have been contributing to the political, economic and social life of
different states. Such organizations like NATO and UN integrated countries. But the most successful
project is the creation of the European Union. But what is actually the European Union? Why its
political system is called sui generis ?

Then the Council shapes its position by QMV (qualified majority voting). According to the report of
Martina Schonard 05/2017 In the fields of social security and police and judicial cooperation in
criminal matters, the proposal can be submitted to the European
Council at the request of one Member State (Articles 48 and 82 TFEU), and this suspends the ordinary
legislative procedure until the European Council reassigns the matter to the Council (at the latest after
four months) . If the Parliament s issue is approved by the Council, the act is adopted. If the Council
doesn t agree on the Parliament s opinion, it gives the Parliament three month to make a decision,
which may approve the proposal as amended by the Council, or have no decision, reject the Council s
position, and adopt amendments to the Council s position by an absolute majority. In the second
reading, if the Council approves all of Parliament s amendments, the act is adopted. If it is not, the
Conciliation Committee is gathered within six weeks. If the Conciliation Committee doesn t meet any
agreement, the procedure of the act s adoption is stopped.

major issues these escapes present are the introduction of invasive, or feral salmon species,
competition with the local species for mates, space and prey, genetic mixing, and the transference of
pathogens (Naylor et al., 2005: 428 31). Furthermore, such risks include potential reductions in the
genetic diversity (and resulting ability to adapt to environmental change), productivity, and fitness of

In fact, in 2008, approximately 90 per cent of the fish oil available worldwide, and 71 per cent of the
fish meal, was consumed in aquaculture practices (Tacon Metian in preparation, as quoted in Bostock
et al., 2010: 2905). This is extremely unsustainable, it is impossible to attain enough feed to continue
to sustain these practices at the pace we are, without overfishing the oceans. Recall aquaculture was
supposed to be a more sustainable alternative to the unsustainable fishing practices we employed in
the past, such as deep ocean bottom trawling. However, to acquire enough feed, bottom trawling will
be required, which in turn renders many fish species instinct and destroys their habitats (Van Denderen
et al., 2013: 1). Unless of course, new methods of finding feed are discovered, which is currently in
development. In fact, Bostock et al, (2010) contend that up to 25 per cent of fish meal is now obtained
from fish processing waste, and ingredient substitution is also increasing the efficiency of fish meal
and oil utilization , which is a step in the right direction (p. 2905). Furthermore, the fish intake to fish
output, FIFO (transference of energy between trophic levels) is understood as being about 10:1 from
one level to the next, however, output ratios for salmon improved from 7.5 to 4.9 which is promising

Discrimination Against Older Workers During The Labor...
Discrimination against older workers is one of the forbidden grounds of discrimination in the labour
market across Canada. Age discrimination affects an older adult s career, advancements, opportunities,
and privileges in the labour market. Furthermore, older adults tend to be marginalized,
institutionalized, and stripped of responsibility, power, and their dignity (Nelson 208). The Canadian
population is aging rapidly and that changes in the population age structure have led to considerable
discussion of ageism and social policies like mandatory retirement and old age security. Employers
continue to have negative attitudes and stigma toward older workers (Klassen and Gillin 36). Social
policy like mandatory retirement is the leading form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mandatory retirement refers to an organization of the labor market that requires employees to
withdraw their services at an arbitrary age and age discrimination refers to social behavior in which
age categories are used for the basis of a variety of employment decisions like hiring, promoting, and
firing employees (Gillin and Klassen 87). Furthermore, this article examines the health issues and
poverty in the older population, and the evolution of social policies, like mandatory retirement and old
age security, in Canada. Mandatory retirement has a long history in the Canadian labour market
system. Retirement is a social institution which emerged in the industrialized revolution during the
beginning of the 20th century (McDonald 2). The social policy was developed along with the
introduction of private and public pension plans (McDaniel and Um 75). Until recently, mandatory
retirement was allowed in all of Canada jurisdictions except for Manitoba and Quebec (Gomez and
Gunderson 2). Mandatory retirement was most prominent for males and persons with higher
education, better health, full time work, lived in urban locations and has higher income (Gomez and
Gunderson 4). Maximum age limits are used by employers to institute mandatory retirement policies
and the maximum age limits are used by employers to govern mandatory retirement policies. These
limits have been challenged under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which applies to all

Student Loans And Student Loan Debt
Samantha Hillstrom, a CNN production assistant, is living out her lifelong dream in television.
Unfortunately, at a staggering $1,200 per month in student loan repayment debt partly because she
was misinformed of the terms of her student loan (55). Debt is foreseeable but student loan debt can
leave borrowers distraught at the mere thought of the unrealistic terms (Hillstrom 55). All students
entering college need to be aware of student loans and how they impact the future; either negatively or
positively.
For some students, a college degree is the key to success but for others the completion of formal
education also introduces a huge burden. Many students desire higher education but increasing
enrollment rates have driven up the cost of college tuition and fees; therefore, forcing some students to
offset the cost with student loans whereas the loans are often accompanied by debt ( A College 6).
Student loans generate an average debt of twenty thousand dollars per student inevitably student loans
are necessary for two thirds of all students. (Collinge 76). Per data from the College Board, the
repayment of student loans becomes a challenge for some borrowers, especially students who do not
complete the program and those students who sought a less than marketable degree ( A College 8).
The American Council on Education suggests, one fifth of undergraduates with personal loans
overlook the possibility of being eligible for a federal student loan; consequently, private loans

  • 2. Bismark and German Terrority Expansion In the fifteenth century there is also evidence of individual financial gain motivating territorial expansion. The death of the Duke of Bedford must be understood as a big reason for the Burgudian changing sides during Hundred the Wars. As Anne Curry points out from the Burgudian perspective, Events following Bedford s death proved more difficult to deal with (Curry, A. (2003), on A200 website, p.3). His death resulted loss of a strong leader English leader. However, probably more important, as Bedford was married to Philip the Good s Sister Anne, the family connection had been lost. Shortly after, in October 1435 Philip the Good signed the Treaty of Arras and alliance, which ended a long rivalry, with the Armagnac s. It is clear Philip the Good benefitted from this deal. The Treaty of Arras resulted in some French lands being given to Philip the Good. In addition, he acquired greater power in these lands. As an extract from the Treaty of Arras tells us, Philip was not required to do faith, homage, nor service to the king for lands and lordships (Anthology, 2007, 1.12, p.34). So, with Philip not having to pay for his new territories, it is highly likely the taxes paid in this French lands increased Philip the Good s wealth considerably. Philip the Good probably believed once Duke of Bedford had died he had no moral obligation to maintain the Burgundian alliance with England. As French had won key battles, he probably decided the Treaty of Arras was a way of gaining ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Frankish Domain In The Carolingian Region The Germanic tribe known as the Franks built up and administered the Frankish Domain from the fifth through the tenth century in the old region of Gaul (incorporating bits of current France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands). The Carolingian Domain alludes to the lead of the Carolingian line, which led the Frankish Realm amid the Early Medieval times from 800 to 888 CE. Amid its time of control the Frankish Domain, traversing parts of present day France and Germany, had two devout traditions, the Carolingian being the second and most powerful one. • 4. Joyce Carol Oates Is An American Writer Who Writes Poetry, Joyce Carol Oates is an American writer who writes poetry, short stories, novels, and nonfiction. She published one of her short stories called: Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? in 1993. In this particular story, Oates writes about a young teenage girl, who in my perspective the fifteen year old girl liked getting the attention from everyone, especially from boys. Her name was Connie; the young girl who lived in her own little world dozing off most of the time, and always standing out in the crowd. In the beginning of the story, the narrator described Connie closing her eyes, daydreaming, and zoning out after seeing her family drive off to a barbecue. Both shall and will are verbs of ancient Germanic ancestry. In Proto Indo European, an inflected future tense existed, but that tense was lost in Germanic. In all Germanic languages, the future tense is formed with auxiliary verbs; this was the case in Gothic and the earliest recorded expressions of Germanic languages. The verb shall represents Old English sceal, and is cognate with Old Norse skal, German soll, and Dutch zal; these all represent *skol , the o grade of Indo European *skel . All of these verbs function as auxiliaries in each language, and represent either simple futurity or necessity. The verb will is cognate with the noun will, of course, and continues Old English willan, which represents *willjan. It occurs in Old Norse vilja, German wollen, Dutch willen, Gothic wiljan; it has many relatives outside of Germanic as well, including, for example, Latin velle to wish for or Polish (West Slavic) ja wolę I would rather / prefer. • 6. The Human Nature Of Humans Many researchers have tested the theory that humans are naturally war loving. A fair viewpoint, from the article Evolutionary Life , is that human nature is not one thing, neither good nor bad overall. People in general have been genetically endowed by evolution with a wide variety of tendencies and capacities that respond to but are not necessarily controlled or determined by their environment (Atlee). With this, it s fair to draw a line between how humans were made to act and how they act today. In the earliest stages of human life through the present, humans have fought, hunted, and killed their way through life. Today s difference to the past is not much different besides the means we use to go about the deeds. Businessmen, politicians, and numerous other professions utilize harmful tactics in order to get what they desire. For example, a politician exposes the underlying evils of another candidate in order to gain votes, much like how the infamous Salem Witch Trials were pursued in the late seventeenth century when others cried witch in order to avoid being tortured and killed themselves. While one may argue that cavemen were, in some aspects, biologically different than we are today and that they were not exposed to as much as we are, one cannot argue that we are not still instinctively caveman like. We hunt and gather food; we create new and improved ways of killing enemies or food source; and when we don t like how or what someone else is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also, Canada might soon be falling into the free rider category as we have not decided on what our commitment to UN peacekeeping missions would look like. • 10. Negative Effects Of Pesticide Pesticide is a chemical widely used around the world for many different reasons. Being a highly toxic chemical, pesticide has been found to be particularly harmful to children s health. Because children s immune systems are not as developed as that of an adult, their susceptibility to developing health issues from exposure to the toxic chemical is much greater. This is due to the fact that children s bodies lack the enzyme that allows them to detoxify and deactivate the chemical from their bodies (Ding and Bao, 2013). In turn, pesticide may have adverse effects on the physiological development of young children. There are various ways in which children may be exposed to different pesticides. In some cases, exposure to pesticide may impair lung functioning and respiratory health. Interested in this phenomenon, Raan, Harley, Balmes, Bradman, Lipsett, and Eskenazi (2015) conducted a study to analyze to effects of early life exposure to toxic chemical, specifically organophosphate pesticide, on the respiratory system. In order to evaluate the repercussion of pesticide exposure, the researchers had to conduct a longitudinal study on children from birth and reanalyzed them at age five and seven through a questionnaire. From this, researchers were able to disclose that exposure to pesticide is linked to higher risk of asthma and other breathing problems, for instance wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath (Raan, Harley, Balmes, Bradman, Lipsett, and Eskenazi, 2015). Children are more susceptible to these toxic chemicals due to lung development during this age. With exposure to pesticide, the lethal chemical makeup of pesticide may interfere with the lung s development, thus leading to mutations or abnormalities. Furthermore, childhood is also a crucial period for brain development and functioning. Any impairments to the brain at this age may cause lasting effects that will extend into adolescence and adulthood. Therefore, excessive exposure to pesticide may disturb the cognitive functioning of children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Ecotopia Big Wood Summary In my excerpt of the reading, In Ecotopia s Big Wood s, Weston laments on Ecotopia s vast forests that are treated with human dignity. The forests are looked at in a religious matter and treated like family. The logging system includes education on the importance of trees in nature and how they must be preserved by any means necessary. Weston even writes about a young man, who he points out did not seem under the influence, leaning on a tree and saying, Brother Tree! . This appears to be the consensus of every citizen in Ecotopia. The scientists of Ecotopia have even developed biodegradable plastics out of tree pulp. Trees and the forests of Ecotopia are without a doubt a major factor in the Ecotopian economy. Weston points out that in the America of the time, and arguably the America of today, would find this to be not only a huge contradiction but also an economic penalty as a waste of time. In America, time is money and the time it takes to reforest a logged forest, let alone teaching those who are doing the logging about the importance of the forest would be looked at as a waste of time and therefore money. However, Weston appears to be appreciating this sentiment the Ecotopian society attributes to their way of life and social norms. I read a few more excerpts from the book because I found it very interesting how similar Ecotopia is to modern California s, and the northwest in general for that matter, approach to environmentalism. Although Ecotopia is an exaggerated version of modern day California, it is without a doubt based on what California was becoming and eventually became. Recycling bins everywhere, civilized hippies starting their own communities in Northern California, etc. Ecotopia is without a doubt based on California and the rest of the North West. Being from the East Coast, I could vaguely relate to Weston in my shock of how different the same country could be depending on the coast you resided on. I m not sure how many other states make you pay for bags at the store, but I can assure you that much of the South and Southwest would have a heart attack if they had to pay for their own bags. Dolphins once were hunted commercially, for the small quantity of valuable oil extracted from parts of the head and used to lubricated delicate watch mechanisms. Since cheaper oils have now been found from other sources, dolphins are no longer hunted for this reason. Many dolphins, however, become accidentally trapped and drowned in tuna nets. • 20. Abortion And The Social Aspects Of Abortion INTRODUCTION It is estimated almost half of pregnancies in Australia are unplanned . Unexpected pregnancies happen for various individual, social, economic and political reasons . The World Health Organisation (WHO) approximates one in three women in Australia will have an abortion procedure in their life . Abortion data is only gathered by South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. However, South Australia is the only state to publish data and report findings annually. Abortion is a heavy topic which has the nation spilt into two groups; pro life or pro choice. Pro life is in favour of the foetus and they believe that by killing the foetus it is equivalent to murder. Pro choice is for abortion, as they believe that the woman has the choice to do what she wants with her body. This report will cover how religion deals with abortion and how it can clash with modern ethnicity, abortion safety, the repercussions of abortion and the social aspects of abortion. RELIGION VS ETHNICITY Religious communities have had a convoluted history in regards to abortion. The Catholic Church of Australia states the direct and voluntary killing of an unborn is gravely immoral. No reason, however serious or tragic, can ever justify the deliberate killing of an innocent human being . Abortion is not explicitly forbidden within the Bible; as neither the Old nor New Testament condemns it. As a social norm, however, Catholic s believe that life starts at conception via ... And the person we have to thank is none other than Sir Francis Drake, a common man whose rise from a small country town, to the mighty dragon that the Spanish feared, was the most brilliant Captain during the Elizabethan Era. It is my belief that Francis Drake s motivation for the attacks on the Spanish monarchy are a indirect result of the attacks on the Protestants by the Roman Catholics in England at that time. Furthermore the adventual destruction of the Spanish Armada is the result of these attacks on the Spanish shipping in which Protestant Captains like Drake were directly responsible. The underlying reason for the Spanish and English war is the clash of Two European religions in Europe and the new world; among other things like wealth and power. Their are three cruises that show his brilliant seamanship and great leadership, but these cruises show also that he wasn t one to stick his orders and follow his plans. This is the reason why he was so great, his ability to improvise. But before we look at his seamanship practices we need to look at his early years to understand his reasoning behind his hatred for the Spanish and their religion. This hatred would help him be one of the most successful privateers of the time. Francis Drake was born on a farm, at Crowndale, near Tavistock in Devon, in the last years of Henry VIII, some time between 1540 and 1545. Some say more precisely around 1543. In most cases a parent will read a book that their child might be reading in class to find out if the book is hazardous to their child s well being. If the novel seems problematic, the parent then challenges the book. Even though the purpose of challenging a novel is to keep children from reading about issues that may not be seen as appropriate for their age group, censoring children from difficult subject matter is not always the solution. And then what if (Lowry 143). Jonas is feeling things that no one in his community has ever felt before. He is beginning to understand that others are missing out on important emotions. He knows that The Giver has already given away most of the memories, and in order to stop the process, he must make a sacrifice in order for his community to be aware of what they are missing. This proves that he is conscious of the fact that his community is not perfect, and the act of staging an accident is a noble, selfless thing to do; something that his perfect peers would not understand. When talking about the harms of banning books and by quoting Lois Lowry, Jennifer Kendall states, The world portrayed in The Giver is a world where choice has been taken away. The servants represent the early prophets and apostles, sent to bring the invitation to the Kingdom to the Jews (Darby, Henry, Johnson). The article goes on to analyse the excavations in the late 20th century by the Austrian Archeological Institute in Cairo and the Institute of Egyptology of the University of Vienna (Bietak 1996 40). The Catastrophic Disaster Struck Japan Essay On March 11, 2011 two catastrophic disaster struck Japan; a natural disaster in the form of a tsunami that followed an earthquake resulting in a man made disaster, a nuclear power plant meltdown. The Fukishima nuclear power plant meltdown resulted from multiple system failures. When the tsunami waves struck it was double the size of the height of the plants seawall, which flooded the plant (Edge, 2011). Water ended up in the basement of the power plant rendering the backup diesel generators inoperable and unable to cool the reactors (Edge, 2011). The entire Fukishma plant lost power, causing malfunctioning of the plant and a nuclear meltdown. Initially, the Japanese government ordered an evacuation of everyone within two miles of Fukishima, but after an explosion shook the plant, the government widened the areas to 12 miles forcing more than 100,00 people to flee (Edge, 2011). • 41. The Pros And Cons Of Global Warming Warming Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants (Collins). The current climate changes that are occurring all over the world have sparked a growing controversy on whether global warming is true or false. Many of these individuals who play a role in this controversy argue that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history or that it is simply caused by an increase in the brightness of the sun. This point of view is understandable as humanity is dependent on the climate for survival. However, many climatologists and scientists have found that the current climate changes are much more worrisome than previous climate changes. They have found that carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have increased over the years because of an increase in the use of coal, oil, and gas and that the Earth s current pattern of warming is greater and faster than that of prehistoric warming episodes. The first argument many individuals would make against global warming is that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history. Global warming would easily be proven correct if Earth s temperature had been stable for the majority of its geological history. In real estate most of these transfers occur between family members. Quit claim deeds do exactly what they named, they transfer property titles quickly. It is more common to use this type of deed when transferring property as part of the estate planning for personal assets. For example, your grandparents pass away and leave property to several of their children. All of the surviving children agree to release their interest to one of the siblings. In this case the quit claim deed is signed by all of the parties and the new deed is transferred to the single sibling as a sole owner. Lack of Warranties and No Guarantees A quit claim deed does not provide the new owner with any promises or guarantees. Diligence is a must in this case. Whether the parties know each other or not, the rights of the transferring owner should be verified. Due to the lack of guarantees with this type of deed a title search is suggested. The search may uncover liabilities or risks to the new owner. The search will confirm the property is free of any liens or claims. If the new owner signs the quit claim deed without doing any verifications they may be subjected and responsible for paying any debt connected to the property. Consequences of Joint ... This is extremely unsustainable, it is impossible to attain enough feed to continue to sustain these practices at the pace we are, without overfishing the oceans. Recall aquaculture was supposed to be a more sustainable alternative to the unsustainable fishing practices we employed in the past, such as deep ocean bottom trawling. However, to acquire enough feed, bottom trawling will be required, which in turn renders many fish species instinct and destroys their habitats (Van Denderen et al., 2013: 1). Unless of course, new methods of finding feed are discovered, which is currently in development. In fact, Bostock et al, (2010) contend that up to 25 per cent of fish meal is now obtained from fish processing waste, and ingredient substitution is also increasing the efficiency of fish meal and oil utilization , which is a step in the right direction (p. 2905). Furthermore, this article examines the health issues and poverty in the older population, and the evolution of social policies, like mandatory retirement and old age security, in Canada. Mandatory retirement has a long history in the Canadian labour market system. The social policy was developed along with the introduction of private and public pension plans (McDaniel and Um 75).
