How does a child receive the necessary parental guidance growing up if their parents and all
other adults in their life are abusive, neglectful, and at best uninvolved? Throughout Steven
King s novella The Body it becomes evident that children will try to find guidance in almost
anything. But, as King demonstrates in his novella, the most common source of guidance
comes from a child s friends. All four boys, Gordie, Teddy, Vern, and Chris replace the rolls of
their parents by comforting, protecting, and counselling each other through tough times. First,
the boys replace the guidance rolls of their parents by comforting each other. This can be scene
multiple times throughout the novella and probably produces some of the most dramatic scenes
in the Novella. The boys comfort each other in multiple ways with the most common way of
comfort being through words. At the dump, when Milo and Teddy have the whole name calling
incident, Teddy is cut deep emotionally by Milo s rude comments about his father. This is
where King implements the first dose of parental comfort from a friend into the story. Walking
along the tracks after leaving the dump, Teddy breaks down and begins to sob, this is when
Chris steps in to comfort Teddy. Chris comforts Teddy by telling him, Lissen, Teddy, what do you

President Bill Clinton obtained many of his votes due to how he handled the shutdown and the
Republican house. Potentially, if Clinton didn t have to manage the shutdown then he may have
not been reelected. Maybe America would have been better off with a new president, but we
cannot change that past. What is done is done and we have to live with our choices that we have
made. When people think of the government shutdown many think of quite simply the downfalls.

picture, which is what Dante did when he toured Hell. Dante Alighieri makes it obvious that
Florence is Dante s Hell on earth by the way he incorporates all the negativity. Dante Alighieri s
description of Florence leaves the readers to believe the city is in political ruins. There are so
many sinners living there and Dante shows this when he says, But tell me, if you can, where
they ll all end,/ the citizens of that divided town?/ Is there amongst them any honest man?
(Alighieri 51) to paint a picture of how he views Florence. The beginning of the quote allows the
readers to interpret that Dante doesn t have much confidence that they will go to heaven, rather
he suggests that because of this indecisiveness that they will later be found in Hell. He used the
word divided to show that there is a big controversy, which split the city of Florence, as he
explains in the quote. The second sentence flat out states that he doesn t believe that there is a
single honest man left and this is shown because of how he punctuates the end of the sentence
with a question mark. This proves that Dante considers Florence as Hell because of all the sinners
there. If he doesn t think he could find a single innocent person there, then it is basically equivalent
to Hell, which Dante doesn t want to live in. All the depreciation of Florence shows that Dante
doesn t want to live there and considers the city the trail that s directly feeding sinners to Hell.

Odd Girl Out is a 2005 film focusing on Vanessa Snyder and her friend group. Vanessa and her
friends are high school students who deal with the effects of bullying. More specifically,
Vanessa deals with the effects of bullying, while her friends take active parts in the role of the
bully. This film deals with topics discussed in a tenth grade health class such as bullying and the
stages and places to be taken in it, as well as self confidence. The first instance of bullying was
