Charles Goodeve Research Paper
Neepawa is a small Manitoban town of nearly 4000 people, which, despite its size, concocts beautiful
landscapes as well as successful individuals. One of these individuals was the chemist, Sir Charles
Frederick Goodeve, who was born in Neepawa in 1904. At the age of 10, him and his family moved to
Winnipeg where he graduated high school and obtained both a Bachelor s degree in Science and a
Master s degree in electrochemistry at the University of Manitoba. Goodeve relocated to London, U.K
when he received a research fellowship to the University College London in 1927. He was awarded
with a Doctorate in Science from the University of London in 1937. Charles Goodeve died in 1980, at
the age of 76.

Charles Goodeve s electrochemical achievements during the war were not the only successes he had in
the scientific field. Specifically, he made significant observations regarding the absorption spectra. He
established the band spectra for unstable molecules and the beginning point of diffuse or continuous
absorption (which led to dissociation). Though the work was difficult to accurately complete during
the time period, his measurements are still accepted today. Goodeve, captivated by the volatility of
unstable molecules and compounds, went on to research the severely understudied oxides of chlorine,
and later, the oxides of sulfur. His studies included determining the heats of dissociation of Cl2O and
ClO2 in a calorimeter and measuring vapour pressure. His research on oxides of sulfur focused on the
oxidation of sulphurous acid solutions, and on the formation of sulphuric acid mists from water
vapour and sulphur trioxide. Though a mechanism for removal of this mist was devised in the lab, it
was not realistically applicable to

Informative Speech On Fishing
Everyone has those days when they wish they had the secret to catching loads of bass. Well I am going
to tell you about some of the lures and techniques that I use that will help you to find that one fishing
secret you won t want to tell your friends about. To make this a little easier for you I am going to
divide this into depth level of fish and best time to fish there. The lures I will be talking about are sure
to stir up some action for you. These are some of the best baits for bass fishing I use. I wanted to break
this down to the time of year and depth of water for each bait. Each one of these have brought me
mass quantities of bass.

All year long there will be some bass that hold up in the deep waters. No one knows why but some
bass just don t move around very much. With that said, nowhere does it say cold weather days are the
only time bass hang out in the deep. For my deep water I use mainly soft plastics. Worms to be
precise. Not that long ago the Senko worm came out and they have been hot ever since. There are so
many ways to fish with worms. Just to name a few you have the classic Texas rig, wacky worm and
the Neko rig. I am a firm believer in the Texas Rig. I am going to give let you know how to fish with
the Texas and Neko rig.
Got to Love some deep water worms!
The Texas rig is my favorite worm rig and most commonly used. I am pretty sure the Texas rig was
created around the time Texas became a state. As far as I know the Texas rig Is the oldest technique for
fishing with worms.

Advantages Of Anti-Competitive Agreement
CHAPTER IV
ANTI COMPETITIVE AGREEMNENT
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the
conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.
While doing business in India, parties are prohibited from executing anti competitive agreements.
Generally, the agreements which cause or are likely to cause appreciable adverse effect on competition
( AAEC ) are anti competitive agreements. However, the Competition Act, 2002 ( Act ) recognizes
intellectual property rights and to facilitate their protection, the Act permits reasonable restrictions
imposed by their owners. Similarly, the Act exempts agreements between exporters as exports do not
impact markets in India. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most obvious example would be that of agreements between enterprises dealing in the same
products. However, in general, it is important to define the relevant market(s). To attract the provision
of the law, the products must be substitutes. Being at the same stage of the production chain implies
that the parties to the agreement are both (all) producers, or retailers or wholesaler. As has been
interpreted over the years in the U.S. (and enacted more recently in other countries) a dissention is
drawn in this regard between horizontal and vertical agreements. In certain circumstances it can be
established that firms that are collaborating on some socially valuable activity may need to agree to do
away with competition so to establish the cooperative relationship. In this, the European Community
law goes beyond the objective of maximizing welfare and explicitly allows some Restrictive contracts
if they promote progressiveness and consumers ultimately stand to gain. The Japanese law also allows
for actions in contravention of the law provided they are in the public interest . It would be dangerous
to allow the kind of discretion in interpretation possible under the Japanese law. Any exceptions that
are permissible should be clearly laid down. However, we recommend that Restrictive contract which
are designed to promote use of energy efficient manufacturing processes and production of Eco
friendly products or conservation of natural resources should be explicitly permitted as

My inference is that California is at a very high risk from earthquakes and needs better earthquake
safety for buildings and houses. This is because California is located to be a fault line named San

lined up all around the coast of California and is the sliding boundary between the Pacific Plate and

Adam And Nimrod Are Not Just Characters From Dante s Work
Adam and Nimrod are not just characters from Dante s work. They both have origins in Christianity.
Genesis 3 is about Adam s sin, the first sin; disobeying the Lord caused the fall of man. Genesis 11 is
about Nimrod s sin. Nimrod was the first ruler in the land of Shinar (Gen 10.10). Men, migrating east,
settled in Shinar and planned to construct a tower so tall, that it would reach the sky because this
would make a name for [themselves] (Gen. 11.4). When the Lord noticed this tower, he scattered them
. . . all over the earth, as well as [confusing] the speech of all the world (Gen. 11.8 9). I agree with V.
Stanley Benfell; Nimrod s sin, resulting in the fall of the language, is similar to the first sin that caused
the fall of man.
Sins in the Hebrew Bible
To start with, the first man, Adam, is responsible for the original sin. Genesis 3 introduces the last
creature the Lord made, the serpent (Everts 253). Though not clarified in Genesis 3, Revelations 12:9
considers the serpent to be the devil. The serpent tempts the first woman, Eve, to disobey the Lord.
The serpent chooses Eve instead of Adam, because she is easier to manipulate (Everts 254). The Lord
had allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree, except from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
(Genesis 2.16 17). Eve gave the fruit from the forbidden tree to Adam (Genesis 3.6). When the Lord
discovered that the two humans had eaten the fruit he forbade them from eating, he made the serpent
eat only dust, made

How Does Polonius Deserve To Die
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, while Hamlet is the protagonist, the main antagonist is
arguably Polonius. He is portrayed as a cunning, bothersome character who is always submissive and
obedient to Claudius, the king of Denmark and also the uncle of Hamlet, as he is the councillor of the
king. Yet, at the same time, he is not completely malicious as he is a caring father for his son and
daughter, Laertes and Ophelia. In Act 3, scene 4, Polonius is murdered by Hamlet, who mistakens him
for Claudius. This death of Polonius is the most controversial death in the play in that some argue he
deserved to die for his wrongdoings to Hamlet, and some claim the opposite that he did not deserve to
die. Although from Hamlet s perspective Polonius ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After hearing Ophelia s description of Hamlet s abnormal behavior after he gets rejected by her,
Polonius concludes that his neglected love hath made him mad (2.2.122). Therefore, in order to
confirm the origin of Hamlet s madness, Polonius constantly spies Hamlet. He looses [his] daughter to
purposely arrange an encounter between her and Hamlet and secretly listens to him hiding behind the
scene; then further on, he again spies him in Gertrude s bedroom and observes his conversation with
his mother (2.2.176). Thus, Polonius keeps tries to manipulate Hamlet s life and interferes with his
privacy in order to see his madness. This is a clear wrongdoing of Polonius, as his actions would be
considered immoral, and, therefore, Polonius spying on Hamlet shows more evidence why Hamlet
would justify Polonius death. However, although Polonius actions seem extreme and might have
caused Hamlet deteriorate more, they, in fact, were simply to help the people he sincerely cared for:

Early Christianity And Greco-Roman Culture
Considering the early Christian believes such as the old testament that prohibits the making of graven
images ,then it would be wise to analyze why the early Christians came up with their art in the first
place . The use of images in early Christianity played an important role especially in spreading the
religion .Most of the target converts were the Greco Romans who had the culture of art from the
beginning . The influence that Greco Roman culture had on the converts continued . The converts
continued to practice burial cultures such as use of catacombs to bury the dead . Catacombs were
common among the average and poor Romans while sarcophagi or marble tombs were used by the
wealthy(Guntram 40) . The Christians converts dug their catacombs

Marketing Management Orientation:
The Societal Marketing concept is the orientation best exemplified by Mountain Equipment Co Op
(MEC). This is evident in the following ways: The company s mission statement clearly outlines that
passion is what drives their company, even over profit. The passion to continue to look for ways to
protect our wild spaces and reduce the ecological footprint of their business. MEC separates itself
from other outdoor retailers through its eco friendly product line and superior focus on corporate

The monetary fee is just clever business practice, the real idea behind this is to let the potential market
know that MEC truly values your business and would like you to become apart of our business
structure going forward. Lastly, Mountain Equipment Co op has undertaken many business initiatives
to solidify customer loyalty from top to bottom of the organization. Back in 1997, they introduced a
free of charge online gear swap where members could recycle used outdoor gear. In 2007, MEC
opened the first accredited Green LEED(The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
distribution center in Surrey, British Columba. LEED encourages and accelerates global adoption of
sustainable green building and development practices. In 2008, MEC developed and launched a series
of annual national paddling and biking expositions. Its been clearly defined that MEC takes a very
Green approach when it comes to business, this is something that directly plays into that target market.
A self propelled wilderness oriented recreation goer would certainly buy into such strong values and
ultimately stick by that company.
Segmentation Variables:
One of Mountain Equipment Co op s key main marketing strategies is one of product leadership
through supporting price, promotion and distribution strategies. This allows them to gain loyalty from
their customer s year after year. MEC is a retail co operative owned by those who shop at their stores.

Federalist Party Viewpoints
Throughout the duration of the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, America s citizens became
separated in their political views. Citizens who preferred constraint upon the powers of the state along
with a strong central government represented the Federalist Party. Framing the basis of the
government and economy, Federalists enhanced the prevalence of foreign policies while shaping the
national judicial system. This essay will provide a comprehensive, detailed synopsis of the political
perspectives and viewpoints of the members of the Federalist Party. Using primary sources and

government and the reasoning behind why they adopted their views. The Federalist Party supporters

Furthermore, the stability of the new national/federal government was dependent on creation of a
particular distance from the direct voice of the citizens (McDonald 1905, p. 28). The moment they
became elected into office, legislators were to be free from any popular pressure. Members of the
Federalist Party also believed that the government was safest when controlled by peop¬¬le know as
independent, which typically implied individuals of wealth as well as social standing. In the 1780s,
members of the Federalist Party believed that state governments posed a threat to the republican
government, given that they were indebted to voters who made adjustments in officials and demanded
that the government serve local, narrow interests (History 2012, p. 3). The Federalists, in any number
of policies, from the organization of the federal courts to the funding of the national debt, anticipated

How Judaism and Christianity Diverged
The origins of Christianity can be originated in Judaism and for that reason it is no surprise that both
religions have many beliefs in common. During the earliest beginnings, Christianity was a part of
Judaism, but currently they are two distinct communities. However, they are bound together by their
belief in one God and to worship any other is to deny Him. The separation between both religions did
not happen fast or easy. The entire division took some hundred years and the very complex separation
didn t happen all at once. Christianity began with Jesus Christ and his disciples about 2000 years ago
in Judea. Throughout that duration of time, Judea was ruled over the emperor of Rome, Constantine.

Starbucks Financial Ratios
If you were an accountant for a potential investor in this company, explain which of these ratios would
be of the most interest to you. In your opinion, what other ratio or ratios beyond the ones listed above
should also be considered in an investment context?
Investors refer to people who willingly input money into a business with the expectations of a return
in future. Normally, investors have an interest in all the ratios as they indicate the financial health of a
firm. One of the most important ratios to potential investors is return on shareholders equity. The ratio
measures the percentage return that investors get for every dollar of their investment in a company.
For example, from the calculation above, Macy s Inc shareholders got a 25.18% for every dollar
invested in year 2015. A high ROE is an indicator of high returns to the shareholders. Profit margin
ratio is of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Investors are risk averse and want to be sure that they will get back value for their money from a
company. The ratio analyses the business s ability to pay interest expense i.e. how many times the
company s earnings can cover interest costs. The higher the ratio, the better the company s liquidity.
Use of financial leverage has been known to lead to bankruptcy of companies hence the need to ensure
that a business can pay back financing costs before making an investment. There are several other
ratios that should be considered in an investment context including P/E ratio, debt to equity ratio,
dividend yield and asset turnover ratio. P/E ratio indicates how much money an investor is willing to
pay to acquire one unit of a company based on the earnings. The ratio is often indicates whether a
company is overvalued or undervalued. A high P/E ratio is a sigh that investors expect the company to
provide higher returns in the future. Thus, this ratio enables potential investors to understand market
sentiments towards a

Before his conversion to Christianity, Augustine was a man swollen with pride, who sinned for the fun

dispassionate uni voice that s testament to the academy s ability to standardize writing. They feel

Lithotripsy Lab Report
1. a) In tube emission, when we run a current through elements, in atomic level, the electrons of
elements get excited. They start to leave the ground level and jump to a higher energy level. When
they are falling down to a lower energy level they release energy as a photon. We observe this process
as a light emission.
b) In part A, the electrons were excited by passing a current through elements, however; the cause that
excited electrons in part B was the heat. In other words, we excited electrons by heating the elements
in second part of this experiment.

Laser beams have a number of other useful functions, for instance, the production of compact discs

more information in much less space than the old fashioned ways of producing phonograph records.
Before the advent of fiber optic communications, telephone calls were relayed on thick bundles of
copper wire; with the appearance of this new technology, a glass wire no thicker than a human hair
now carries thousands of conversations. Lasers are also used in scanners, such as the price code

clothing items from stores. In an industrial setting, heating lasers can drill through solid metal, or in an
operating room, lasers can remove gallstones or cataracts. Lasers are also used for guiding missiles,

Richard Speck Essay
On December 6th, 1941 the world welcomed Richard Benjamin Speck, who would become a well
known mass murderer. Speck, having a rather rough childhood, had an extensive criminal background
before committing the unspeakable murders that made him famous. After being found guilty, Speck
spent his remaining days in Chicago s Stateville Penitentiary. One can look at Richard s personal
history, crime and criminal history to try and pin him to one criminological theory, when in reality,
none will really fit him to a T . He was a psychopath who was in great need of psychological help,
among other things.
In Kirkwood, Illinois, Benjamin and Mary Speck became the proud parents to a baby boy, named
Richard Benjamin Speck. Richard was the seventh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being the subject his stepfather s violent physical abuse, Richard had acquired a violent nature early
on in his life. He carried this violence from his childhood to his marriage with Shirley. Richard would
abuse both his wife and her mother. The abuse his wife endured was both physical and mental, which
would often include being raped at knife point up to several times in a day. Richard was also fond of
kissing and fondling other women in front of Shirley, forcing her to watch. Their marriage was short
lived and the two separated. Under his mother s recommendation, Richard became a live in babysitter
for a 29 year old woman, who was a bartender at his favorite local bar, Ginny s. One month later, his
wife filed for divorce. In January of 1966, the same month of the divorce, Richard stabbed another
man at Ginny s. The fight was brought about by his anger at the discovery of his ex wife s remarriage
after only 2 days of the granted divorce. These events were just the beginning of his violent streaks
and became the foundation to his ultimate crime that made him infamous. Richard s first arrest, the
beginning to his extensive criminal history, occurred at age 13 for trespassing and was followed by
numerous other arrests over the better half of a decade. When he was 21 years old, Richard was found
guilty of forging a fellow co worker s

The Effects Of Universal Health Insurance Mandate On The...
This paper reviews the effects of the universal health insurance mandate in the Massachusetts labor
market. Using a difference in differences (DID) model, this study focuses on the co evolution of
insurance coverage and labor markets. One found that under the recent legislation, workers from firms
of varying sizes demonstrate different patterns with regards to obtaining insurance coverage. While
employer sponsored health insurance is designed to be the primary source of coverage for
Massachusetts residents under reform, two legal loopholes exist in the employer mandate. For mid
sized organizations, the probability of part time employees working without employer provided
insurance has increased.

Similar to Massachusetts insurance reform, the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
(PPACA) also features insurance exchanges, individual and employer mandates, and expanded
Medicaid coverage. Due to the similarity between the Massachusetts health reform and the Affordable
Care Act, much can be learned from Massachusetts s experience on implementing health insurance
coverage expansions and employer provided universal insurance coverage law. In other words, this
case offers insight into how some businesses and their employees might react to federal law
requirements.
Several studies sought to investigate the effect of the universal health reform and its impact on the
labor market outcomes, such as the unemployment rate and average wage (Buchmueller, 2013;
Kolstad, 2012). However, they failed to take into account the potential legal loopholes in part time
status, employer provided coverage and Medicaid, and the impact of companies size, even though
studies have shown that employer provided regulations are not equally demanding to different
businesses (Gruber, 2004).
The primary purpose of this paper is to determine whether the Massachusetts healthcare reform has, in
fact, improved health insurance coverage. If the reform indeed improved the coverage, which channels
were utilized to accomplish this? In order to better assess this issue, one explored the

Man and Nature in Norman Maclean s book, Young Men and...
Man and Nature in Norman Maclean s book, Young Men and Fire
Norman Maclean s book, Young Men and Fire, recreates the tragedy of the Mann Gulch fire. His
ambition to have this lamentable episode of history reach out and touch his readers triumphs in
extolling the honor and respect deserved by the thirteen smoke jumpers who died. This book is a
splendid tribute to the courageous efforts of such men, as well as a landmark, reminding mankind to
heed the unpredictable behavior and raw power of nature.
Deep in the midst of the Mann Gulch valley in Montana, above the densely wooded forest and below
the towering precipices lies the fast burning cheat grass, home to twelve of the thirteen dead smoke
jumpers. The smoke jumpers were an elite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The research Maclean put into retelling this catastrophe is remarkable and further enthralls the reader
as he unfolds the story through the perspective of people involved in the tragedy. Maclean s intricate
weaving of characters and their individual stories as well as the aftermath, the reports, the trials, and
the adversity all provide an aura of the real truth. The empathic reader also develops his own saga as
he views the tale through the eyes of the foreman Dodge, and the other two survivors, Sallee and
Rumsey.
Maclean, reconstructed the tragedy, much like coaches review the films of athletic competitions that
challenged their squads to the nth degree. Over and over, Maclean reviews each minute detail,
scouring them for something that might reveal a hint of an explanation or some resolution to help
reduce the terrible grief of such an untimely occurrence.
Although the young men died like squirrels in Mann Gulch, the Mann Gulch fire should not end there,
smoke drifting away and leaving terror without consolation of explanation, and controversy without
lasting settlement. Probably most catastrophes end this way without an ending, the dead not even
knowing how they died but still alertly erect in fear and wonder, those who loved them forever
questioning this unnecessary death, and the rest of us tiring of this inconsolable catastrophe and
turning to the next one.
One can t help but to ponder the seemingly inevitable

The Pillars Of Good Corporate Governance Framework
Horsch also says that a spirit of cooperation and trust must be established between agencies, the state
and local actors, if accountability systems are to be successful. In return for measurable results,
agencies with traditional oversight responsibilities will need to delegate authority and provide the
resources and technical assistance necessary for others to implement meaningful stakeholder
governance programmes . Therein lies huge dependencies on certain stakeholders having such
capacities.
All that said, overall, including stakeholder governance as one of the pillars of good corporate
governance framework can result in a more comprehensive understanding of corporate risk and
opportunity, drive learning, innovation and performance while contributing to a strong reputation and
prosperity over time. In fact, it is said that stakeholder governance has the potential to turn distrustful
opponents into critical friends .

Lombardo says that in the past the challenge for organisations was to support process and design

Segmentation and Targeting:
1. What are the most relevant dimensions along which to segment the patient market for ED treatment
(i.e., what are the different ways you could divide it up)? Of the segments identified, which would you
target initially with Cialis?
With a potential total of 150M men worldwide (30M in the United States alone) suffering from
medical Erectile Dysfunction, there is a wide range of factors identified as the potential causes:
* Caused my other medications * Medical diseases * Lifestyle factors (Smoking, Obesity, Alcohol) *

While Levitra was thought to target a niche group of men with diabetes related illness, for which it
was safer than Viagra, it did not materialize to creating its own segmented market.
Cialis should be positioned as a Game Changer, and not so much as a competitor. While the two drugs
share the common goal of treating ED, they accomplish it in a much different manner and Cialis
should be touted as an upgrade from the first drug of its kind to enter the market in Viagra.
Viagra Facts: * Effects last 4 6 hours after dosing * Higher doses taken * Effects nullified if taken
with high fat meal leading to slower onset time
Cialis Advantage * Up to 36 hours of effectiveness * Lower dosing * Not affected by food intake *
Comparatively favorable safety profile * Not been linked to deaths
Cialis marketing has to take these advantages into account when going to market by playing off of
Viagra s weaker effects and potentially less flexible use by the patients.
Marketing Mix:
4. What marketing mix activities should accompany the launch of Cialis?
a. What would be the most important message to communicate to the target patients? To physicians?
To partners? The most important message to communicate is going to be that Cialis covers more
ground than Viagra and Levitra do. It lasts longer, is taken in smaller doses, isn t impact by food

differences in how programs approach inclusive classrooms. The article goes on to define the concepts
of full inclusion classroom verses the inclusion and how important it is to understand these as they

As an interpreter and observer of what is conducive for learning for DHH students the article is a
fantastic resource to share with other educators. The author furthermore, provides solid evidence
related to common sense of classroom arrangement and offering a warm, supportive, and positive
learning environment. Then Phillips adds more supporting evidence and resources for educators to

Black Plague Dbq
The Renaissance was an important event in human history that caused us to realise how important
being individual is. When the black plague occurred, it made people think that there may not be a god
because of how tragic it was. Many important people such as Leonardo Da Vinci began making art
and literature that were less religious and more in this world. Also the city states had changes that
were necessary for the Renaissance. Without the changes Europe experienced we would still be under
the rule of the church and be forced into a certain religion instead of being free thinking individuals.
Black Death: The Black Plague was a dreadful event that caused suffering in Europe, however it was
also a wake up call for humanity. Many people believed that the pandemic was because the gods were
angry at humanity for... some reason? After the bodies piled up on the street and pits were made to put
them in instead of graves people wondered if the gods really cared about them. Another thing the
black plague caused is a new class which was the middle class. Serfs and peasants were dying and the
demand for them increased to a colossal extent. There was literally a law that had to be made saying

caused is the study of the human body. It was considered a disgrace to mangle human corpses
according to the church yet in secret Leonardo would take body s and dissect them. He made many

The Influence Of Life Water In Ancient Egypt
Life Water Although you may think of the Egyptians as a very independent nation, they were never
really the ones in control. The real attributor of their ability to exist, lays squarely with the Nile. So
much so that Egypt in its entirety, formed itself to compensate as well as to take advantage of the great
waterway s entirety. This phenomenon is especially evident in their religion, daily life and location of
settlement. The influence the Nile had on their life s shows just how dependent this renowned
civilization was on the Nile. As an Egyptian, your life was morphed around the rivers ability to
provide, if the river was having a bad year so would you, and if it was felling generous you would

Analysis Of The Goophered Grapevine By Charles Chesnutte
Charles Chesnutt s Writings for Social and Political Change Charles Chesnutt was a well known
African American author who was known for his short stories that conveyed racist African American
dialect and conveyed his wishes for equality and social and political change for African Americans.
The purpose of this paper is to delve into Chesnutt s short story The Goophered Grapevine to define
the way Chesnutt manipulated his audience and worked towards white sympathy for the black
community. Chesnutt knew that if he attempted his goal with his white audience s knowledge, they
would resist and he would therefore be unsuccessful. Therefore, Chesnutt needed to disguise the
motive of the story so he could affect his audience without their knowledge of his manipulation.
Chesnutt did so through the use of storytelling with three characters that served to show the three sides
of the racial divide. Through the use of storytelling, Chesnutt used the three main characters in The
Goophered Grapevine as a whole to represent and show the different sides of the racial divide and
manipulate his audience into sympathizing with the black society in order for social and political
change; Uncle Julius functioned as the storyteller as well as the black society, John functioned as the
white side of the community who resisted change, and Annie functioned as the side of the white
community that sympathized with the black community and sought political and social change for the
black community.

John Stuart Mill Utilitarianism
John Stuart Mill wrote his work Utilitarianism in response to the Hedonist ideologies present
throughout the 19th century. In it, he discusses his views on the responsibility of society to seek the
greater good through higher pleasures. I feel that this work could be supported through an
individualistic approach that fulfills both responsibilities to the self and society.
Hedonism refers to the concept of ultimate pleasure , suggesting that as humans we should do what
makes us the happiest all of the time. Because of this, actions considered correct under Hedonism are
those that bring the most pleasure, and anything less is considered a wrong action.
Mill s struggle with Hedonism sparked his analysis of pleasure itself, which he claims as

Headless Horseman Character Analysis
Many connections to famous books or movies can be made to the Headless Horseman or the Heissan
as he is referred to many times in the original Sleepy Hollow . The Headless Horseman has a few key
traits: engimatic, supernatural, and terror raising/feared. Only a few have ever come face to face with
the Horseman, the nemesis of Ichabod Crane (main character) Brom Van Brunt has a supposed run in
with the horseman and lives to tell the tale, while the village elders go off of stories. When his name is
spoken townsfolk quiver at the stories and terror brought about by the mistery of the supernatural.
This horseman is no ordinary horseman, he frightens the whole town, patrolling the church grounds
where he is supposedly buried, he makes quick work of anyone who dares go near. ... Show more

On the contrary, the Heissan returned a malevolent spirit while Jason never really died in the
beginning. While the Heissan has one personality, not the same can be said about Jason: Jason
developed a second personality. While Jason was a scared, lonely little boy, this other self, which I
will call The Mask for simplicity s sake, was a more assertive, aggressive individual, fearless in the
face of any hardship or opponent. When Jason put The Mask on, he wasn t a little boy any more. He
was someone strong, someone powerful, not only capable of surviving, but thriving in the wilderness
surrounding Camp Crystal Lake. (Bloodsprayer psychology behind Jason) When he goes into his
innocent personality, Jason becomes a lot more clumsy and not as well formed as his other half. In
conclusion, the Headless Horseman can be compared to many movie and book villains, mostly the

  • 2. Charles Goodeve Research Paper Neepawa is a small Manitoban town of nearly 4000 people, which, despite its size, concocts beautiful landscapes as well as successful individuals. One of these individuals was the chemist, Sir Charles Frederick Goodeve, who was born in Neepawa in 1904. At the age of 10, him and his family moved to Winnipeg where he graduated high school and obtained both a Bachelor s degree in Science and a Master s degree in electrochemistry at the University of Manitoba. Goodeve relocated to London, U.K when he received a research fellowship to the University College London in 1927. He was awarded with a Doctorate in Science from the University of London in 1937. Charles Goodeve s electrochemical achievements during the war were not the only successes he had in the scientific field. Specifically, he made significant observations regarding the absorption spectra. He established the band spectra for unstable molecules and the beginning point of diffuse or continuous absorption (which led to dissociation). Though the work was difficult to accurately complete during the time period, his measurements are still accepted today. Goodeve, captivated by the volatility of unstable molecules and compounds, went on to research the severely understudied oxides of chlorine, and later, the oxides of sulfur. His studies included determining the heats of dissociation of Cl2O and ClO2 in a calorimeter and measuring vapour pressure. His research on oxides of sulfur focused on the oxidation of sulphurous acid solutions, and on the formation of sulphuric acid mists from water vapour and sulphur trioxide. Though a mechanism for removal of this mist was devised in the lab, it was not realistically applicable to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages Of Anti-Competitive Agreement CHAPTER IV ANTI COMPETITIVE AGREEMNENT People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. While doing business in India, parties are prohibited from executing anti competitive agreements. Generally, the agreements which cause or are likely to cause appreciable adverse effect on competition ( AAEC ) are anti competitive agreements. However, the Competition Act, 2002 ( Act ) recognizes intellectual property rights and to facilitate their protection, the Act permits reasonable restrictions imposed by their owners. Similarly, the Act exempts agreements between exporters as exports do not impact markets in India. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most obvious example would be that of agreements between enterprises dealing in the same products. However, in general, it is important to define the relevant market(s). To attract the provision of the law, the products must be substitutes. Being at the same stage of the production chain implies that the parties to the agreement are both (all) producers, or retailers or wholesaler. As has been interpreted over the years in the U.S. (and enacted more recently in other countries) a dissention is drawn in this regard between horizontal and vertical agreements. In certain circumstances it can be established that firms that are collaborating on some socially valuable activity may need to agree to do away with competition so to establish the cooperative relationship. In this, the European Community law goes beyond the objective of maximizing welfare and explicitly allows some Restrictive contracts if they promote progressiveness and consumers ultimately stand to gain. The Japanese law also allows for actions in contravention of the law provided they are in the public interest . It would be dangerous to allow the kind of discretion in interpretation possible under the Japanese law. Any exceptions that are permissible should be clearly laid down. • 6. Adam And Nimrod Are Not Just Characters From Dante s Work Adam and Nimrod are not just characters from Dante s work. They both have origins in Christianity. Genesis 3 is about Adam s sin, the first sin; disobeying the Lord caused the fall of man. Genesis 11 is about Nimrod s sin. Nimrod was the first ruler in the land of Shinar (Gen 10.10). Men, migrating east, settled in Shinar and planned to construct a tower so tall, that it would reach the sky because this would make a name for [themselves] (Gen. 11.4). When the Lord noticed this tower, he scattered them . . . all over the earth, as well as [confusing] the speech of all the world (Gen. 11.8 9). I agree with V. Stanley Benfell; Nimrod s sin, resulting in the fall of the language, is similar to the first sin that caused the fall of man. Sins in the Hebrew Bible To start with, the first man, Adam, is responsible for the original sin. Genesis 3 introduces the last creature the Lord made, the serpent (Everts 253). Though not clarified in Genesis 3, Revelations 12:9 considers the serpent to be the devil. The serpent tempts the first woman, Eve, to disobey the Lord. The serpent chooses Eve instead of Adam, because she is easier to manipulate (Everts 254). The Lord had allowed Adam and Eve to eat from any tree, except from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Genesis 2.16 17). Eve gave the fruit from the forbidden tree to Adam (Genesis 3.6). When the Lord discovered that the two humans had eaten the fruit he forbade them from eating, he made the serpent eat only dust, made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet, at the same time, he is not completely malicious as he is a caring father for his son and daughter, Laertes and Ophelia. In Act 3, scene 4, Polonius is murdered by Hamlet, who mistakens him for Claudius. Thus, Polonius keeps tries to manipulate Hamlet s life and interferes with his privacy in order to see his madness. This is a clear wrongdoing of Polonius, as his actions would be considered immoral, and, therefore, Polonius spying on Hamlet shows more evidence why Hamlet would justify Polonius death. In other words, this case offers insight into how some businesses and their employees might react to federal law requirements. Several studies sought to investigate the effect of the universal health reform and its impact on the labor market outcomes, such as the unemployment rate and average wage (Buchmueller, 2013; Kolstad, 2012). The purpose of this paper is to delve into Chesnutt s short story The Goophered Grapevine to define the way Chesnutt manipulated his audience and worked towards white sympathy for the black community. Chesnutt knew that if he attempted his goal with his white audience s knowledge, they would resist and he would therefore be unsuccessful. Therefore, Chesnutt needed to disguise the motive of the story so he could affect his audience without their knowledge of his manipulation. Chesnutt did so through the use of storytelling with three characters that served to show the three sides of the racial divide. Through the use of storytelling, Chesnutt used the three main characters in The Goophered Grapevine as a whole to represent and show the different sides of the racial divide and manipulate his audience into sympathizing with the black society in order for social and political change; Uncle Julius functioned as the storyteller as well as the black society, John functioned as the white side of the community who resisted change, and Annie functioned as the side of the white community that sympathized with the black community and sought political and social change for the black community. ...
