2. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, learners should be
able to:
- Identify the steps in creating a straight-
through cable
- Perform the procedure in creating straight
through cable
- Work safely and properly
3. ACTIVITY NO. 1 GUESS ME?
Instruction:
Post beside the corresponding tools
and equipment its name and function.
4.
5. RJ-45
a registered jack (RJ) is a standardized
physical network interface for connecting
telecommunications or data equipment.
6.
7. ETHERNET CABLE
carries the broadband signals between
network-capable devices. Cat5 cabling is
the most commonly used today for
networks. Usually called UTP (Unshielded

9. CRIMPING TOOL
a device used to conjoin two pieces of
metal by deforming one or both of them in
a way that causes them to hold each other.
The result of the tool'swork is called

11. WIRE STRIPPER
It is used to strip the electrical
insulation from electric wires.
12.
13. LAN TESTER
It is a device that used to test the strength
and connectivity of a particular type of
cable or other wired assemblies
14. ACTIVITY NO. 2 GROUP ACTIVITY
MAUNA MATIBAY
Instruction:
Guess what the teacher will present.
You must be fast in answering so that
you can have the points for this game.
20. WHAT IS AN ETHERNET CABLE?
An Ethernet cable, also called a category 5 (Cat
5) cable, carries the broadband signals between
computer and other wired Internet-capable
devices.
21. WHAT IS STRAIGHT THROUGH CABLE?
Ethernet cables can be wired as straight
through or crossover. The straight through
is the most common type and is used to
connect computers to hubs or switches.
22. WHAT IS STRAIGHT THROUGH CABLE?
On a straight through cable, the wired pins
match. Straight through cable use one wiring
standard: both ends use T568A wiring standard
or both ends use T568B wiring standard. The
following figure shows a straight through cable
of which both ends are wired as the T568B
standard.

25. STEP 1
Cut into the plastic
sheath about 1 inch (2.5
cm) from the end of the
cut. Used the crimping
tool to do these.
27. STEP 3
Pinch the wires
between your fingers
and straighten them
out as shown. The
color order is
important to get
28. STEP 4
Use the scissors or
crimping tool razor blade
to make a straight cut
across the 8 wires to
shorten them to ½ inch
(1.3 cm) from the cut
sleeve to the end of the
29. STEP 5
Carefully push all 8
unstripped colored wires
into the connector (RJ
45). Note the position of
the plastic sleeve. Also
note how the wires go all
the way to the end.
33. INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY
Your task is to create straight-through network
cabling.
