8 The internet has revolutionised the way in which media products are produced
and consumed. Discuss. [ 50 ]
Twitter is an example of microblogging that
conforms to Habermas’ (1991) ideology of a
media product focussing primarilly on ‘celebrity
and trivia’ that has revolutionised media
production and consumption simultaneously.

able to re-tweet and #hashtag

the World about their favourite
‘stars’, as well as use this product as
a platform to ‘flower’ (De Sola –
1977) their voices on current affairs
issues and in the process take on the
role of a news regulator and
prosumer of news.

Discuss. [ 50 ] Twitter is an example of microblogging that conforms to Habermas’ (1991) ideology of a media product focussing primarilly on ‘celebrity and trivia’ that has revolutionised media production and consumption simultaneously. Point Evidence Twitters 241m active users are now able to re-tweet and #hashtag (Metro – March 21st 2014) all over the World about their favourite ‘stars’, as well as use this product as a platform to ‘flower’ (De Sola – 1977) their voices on current affairs issues and in the process take on the role of a news regulator and prosumer of news.
