Kinesio tape was developed in 1970 by a Japanese chiropractor to help with natural tissue healing through lymphatic drainage while providing joint and muscle support without restricting range of motion. It is an elastic therapeutic tape that can be applied to any part of the body to improve lymph and blood circulation. When applied, it mimics skin qualities and allows longitudinal stretch, providing relief for 3-5 days. The tape increases lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin and decreasing pressure on sensory receptors to reduce pain. There are various application techniques for muscles, ligaments, corrections, and lymphatic drainage.
