IS, LM model and explanations(in the form of an essay).
Essay topic1.
Introduction:
During the years after World War II, the development of the IS LM model took several directions.
Probably, the most prominent ideas on that theory were expressed in the work of John Hicks called
Mr. Keynes and the Classics . The model expressed in the article was largely based on the works of
John Maynard Keynes and became a widely accepted as the alternative framework to standard
Keynesian analysis. The IS LM model is a way of modelling equilibrium in the economy by looking
at equilibrium in the goods and services markets (the IS curve) and equilibrium in the money markets
(LM curve). Where both these markets are in equilibrium will be the equilibrium level of income. The
IS LM model looks at income against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the amount of income from Y`1 to Y1 will be anattainable because of outcrowding of the
private sector by the public sector investment (shaded area).
The degree of crowding out depends on severeal factors. One of them is the extent of multiplier effect.
Multiplier effect occurs when increase in investment or any other autonomous expenditure leads to
even greater increase in income. For example, it may become widely believed that the MPC
(Monetary Policy Committee) is going to reduce the rate of interest. In that case, number of leackages
in the economy in the form of savings is likely to decline and consumption to increase. This will result
in the larger propensity to consume for every marginal unit of income. Increase in consumption should
lead to increase in investment and more flatter IS curve (see figure 3), which will mean greater degree
of crowding out.

There are other factors influencing the extent of crowding out effect. Effectivness of fiscal policy also
depends on the elasticities of IS and LM schedules. If investment is relatively sensetive to the changes
in the rate of interest, than for any change in interest rate there will relatively big change in investment
and correspondingly equilibrium rate of output. In that case the IS curve will be relatively interest
elastic and flatter. If the IS curve is

The Neonatal Brain Mri Image Database
As shown in the above figure 1, the input neonatal image from the database is preprocessed using
techniques such as noise removal, inhomogeneity and partial volume correction. Then from the
preprocessed image the texture feature is extracted through EWT (Empirical Wavelet transform) and
the most relevant features like Entropy, Correlation, Contrast, Homogeneity and Dissimilarity are
chosen by GLCM (Gray Level Co Occurrence Matrix). Based on the selected features the image is
segmented by means of SOM DCNN and then from the segmented image the tissues are classified
through the help of sparse auto encoder.
Consider is the neonatal brain MRI image database, where is the number of images and the vector
function of each image in the neonatal brain MRI image database is given as .
3.1 Preprocessing
The regions of an image containing different intensity values can be modelled as a finite Gaussian
distribution. All the pixels in the same image belongs to same class and energy function is given by (1)
Where is a set of Gaussian parameters; is the Gaussian mean and is the Gaussian variance for the
object .
Also reduction of noise present in the image is important and it is done when the contextual constraint
is taken into account as the weight of the pixel. For the above equation 4 with zero mean only the
variance is varied by additive Gaussian noise. By this way the Gaussian model suppress the Gaussian
noise and variation can be

Princess Diana Impact Of Beauty
Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day
someone might do the same for you (Diana, Princess of Wales). Princess Diana was one of the world s
most beloved and recognizable figures. Diana exemplified beauty and style, yet she was more than a
pretty face as she changed the way the public looks at modern monarchies through her humanitarian
efforts and down to earth approach.
Diana s life seemed like a charmed one. She was the daughter of nobility chosen to marry the Prince
of England. Diana, Princess of Wales, 1961 97, was wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, heir to the
British throne. The daughter of the 8th Earl Spencer, Lady Diana Frances Spencer was a kindergarten
teacher in London before her 1981 marriage to Charles (Princess of Wales, Diana). Diana was chosen
specifically for her youth and beauty so that she could produce attractive and healthy offspring for the
British monarchy. They needed a male heir and a spare. She delivered on her end of the deal when
William was born in 1982, and Harry, in 1994 (Princess of Wales, Diana). Diana was supposed to do
whatever she was told by the royal family, and produce sons. Her personal happiness was not a factor.
Her husband had an ongoing affair with his long time love Camilla Parker Bowles during most of his
marriage to Diana. They fought constantly, and it didn t help that she often stole the spotlight with her
effortless grace and beauty.

Negative Events Of The 1980s
Although the 1980s was a wonderful decade, there were some negative events. The 1980s contained
many assassinations, such as John Lennon, Anwar Sadat, Marvin Gaye, Indira Gandhi, and Olof
Palme
John Lennon, an English musician, was a member of the legendary rock band, the Beatles. Mark
David Chapman assassinated him at only forty years old. He shot two bullets in the left side of Lennon
s back and another two bullets in his left shoulder with a Charter Arms .38 caliber pistol. He was
declared dead when he arrived at Roosevelt Hospital. The murder took place in the archway of The
Dakota in New York, New York on December 8,1980. On December 10, 1980 he was cremated at the

which was identified as fatal. A subsequent shot wounded his Olof s wife, Lisbet Palme. The
assassination happened in Stockholm, Sweden when he and his wife were walking home from the

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Plea Bargaining
Plea bargaining is important in the criminal justice system. It is an essential tool that benefits not only
the prosecutor but the defense attorney and the defendant. Plea bargaining allows attorneys to decide
cases without needing the judge or a jury to decide the case. It can be beneficial to both the prosecutor
and the defense attorney because the prosecutor will have a conviction and the defense attorney would
have gained a lesser charge for his client. Throughout this paper I will lead you through the process of
plea bargaining, the pros and cons, and how it reflects on crime control and the due process model.
Plea Bargaining
What is plea bargaining? According to Black s Law Dictionary it is a negotiated agreement between a
prosecutor and a criminal defendant whereby the defendant pleads guilty to a lesser offense or to one
of multiple charges in exchange for some concession by the prosecutor. This usually involves the
defendant pleading guilty to a lighter sentence. If the offer by the prosecution is accepted then the
defendant can either plead guilty or nolo contendere which means I do not contest this. Both of the
pleas are similar, the only difference is the nolo contendere plea cannot be used as admission of guilt
in a civil case (Siegel, Schmalleger, Worrall, Chapter 12, 2011). ... Show more content on

Sentence bargaining is a technique of plea bargaining in which the prosecutor agrees to endorse a
lighter sentence for precise charges if the offender pleads guilty or no contest to them. Charge
bargaining is a process where prosecutors agree to drop some charges or decrease a charge to a less
serious crime in exchange for a plea by the defendant.

For Teenage Girls By Clementine Von Radics
Throughout a woman s life, she is told time after time that she cannot do certain things because of her
gender. People tell women that they cannot be the CEO of the world s largest company or the
President of the United States because it is a man s job. Clementine von Radics poem, For Teenage
Girls, emphasizes the sexism imposed on girls from a young age and how women of history have
proven the prejudice against women wrong. Throughout Radics poem, female figures of history are
named to shine light on past events that have put a dent in the stereotypes and prejudice held against
women. The named women were alive during different time periods and have different ethnicities to
emphasize that any woman is capable of making a difference

Robert s Blindness
The narrator in the play is portrayed as superficial, self centered, and egotistical. Although his actions
demonstrate his character he lacks comprehension in the way relationships and people are presented to
him, which clearly shows his tragic flaw: although Robert takes the place of a physically blind
character the narrator is one who is mentally blind. In the husband s eyes, Robert s blindness is his
identifier. In actuality, any prejudice based on gender; race, or disability takes form in a person who
lacks the ability to look past false qualities. People who discriminate other people based on
characteristics only see the features, but not the actual person. Without thinking the husband placed
Robert in his own group, in which he expresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the difficult details of the narrator s wife s past, including her marriage, suicide attempt, and
divorce, have been recorded and sent to Robert, who has recorded responses in return. Robert is the
person to whom the narrator s wife has turned to when she needed to talk. The narrator s wife is glad
to see him, but since he cannot see her, their interaction is only slightly different from the back and
forth conversation they ve been carrying on through the tapes. I believe that the relationship between
the Robert and the narrator s wife very healthy. This makes the narrator extremely jealous of their
relationship, They talk of things that had happened to them to them! These past ten years. I waited in
vain to hear my name on my wife s sweet lips. (37) His relationship with his wife has been extremely
distant because of his inability to focus on her instead of his drugs , And I guess I was. Every night I
smoked dope and stayed up as long as I could before I fell asleep. My wife and I hardly ever went to
bed at the same time. (390)

the story? What if their project had been focusing on something else? Do the narrator and reader share
a recognition of the symbolic value of the cathedral? (200 words

Genealogy Is The Study Of Family History
Are you interested in history? Are you interested in learning about what your relatives did before you?
Genealogy is the study of family history. Genealogy is a fun yet addictive hobby. To get started in
genealogy there are two steps to start searching for your family history. The first step towards starting
your family tree is to gather as much information from living relatives. It is a good idea to interview as
many different relatives as you can. There are several ways one can go about preserving your family
history. One can use a video camera and take video of the relative. Another method for getting the
information down is to audio record an interview with the relative. Yet if one so desires they could
also take notes on a computer. Note taking on a computer is an easier form to record the family
information in. However you decide to record your information be sure to get your relative s
permission before choosing a method. It may make them uncomfortable if you are interviewing them
with a video camera without prior notice. What kinds of questions should one ask when starting a
genealogical interview? Some example questions could be: Asking your relative when they were born;
What they remember as a child; or family stories. Family stories are excellent sources of information
since they give greater insight into other family members. The best way to get family information is to
get as many family stories in as much detail. Once you get all the details from your

For Longfellow an abolitionist the decision of the united states and the impending war over slavery

many different pieces of accurate information. In the correct article called How Accurate Was
Longfellow s Poem , states that that Henry Longfellow s information was incorrect because he is not
interested in the conversation or the topic that he is walking or writing about and so therefore is giving
incorrect information. As stated in Longfellow s poem he is giving a lot of INCORRECT information
but getting away with it by stating information that is making his words seem believable by giving
false information and stating different information and all of the things that are given with false
information. The poem written by Henry Wadsworth was very incorrect because there were 3 different
people who were involved in Paul Revere s journey and in the poem only 1 person is mentioned, he
gave incorrect information about the lanterns and how it was used, and in the poem he gives us a lot of
information that is inaccurate and does not give us the correct ending as in the article about the poem
it gives a perspective for Paul Revere and gives us somewhat of an ending that will tell us the truth.

3 March 2017 Are Single sex schools better?
Recently single sex schools have made a comeback, and this has raised the question of whether they
are better than coeducational schools. In single sex educational systems, male and female students are
separated and taught in different school buildings or classrooms. In a historical point of view, only
boys were given the opportunity to pursue formal education in the United States. Schools for women
began to spread in the beginning of the nineteenth century, almost one hundred years before they were
granted the right to vote. By the end of the twentieth century coeducational schooling had reached all
elementary and secondary schools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Advocates state that students can achieve greater academic success once taught separately, especially
girls. According to Leonard Sax, psychologist and founder of the National Association for the
Advancement of Single Sex Public Education, Single sex education works better. Kids who attend
single sex schools not only do better academically but also have a better attitude toward school and a
better outlook on life. He also argues that placing them in separate classrooms wouldn t accomplish as
much as separate schools, (NASSE). Sax believes that boys learn differently than girls and take more
time to develop. He uses research about brain maturation, hearing, vision and temperature sensitivity
to support his claim, and argues that boys typically receive more attention from teachers and have less
chances of harassment, and at often times very distracting. He points out, What we re doing right now
pretending that gender doesn t matter is not working, he says. We are losing ground.
The effects can be minor, for example, studies have indicated girls perform better when the classroom
temperature is warm, while boys perform better in cooler temperatures. More considerable effects
include higher test scores. In the journal, Single sex Education: What Does Research Tell Us?,
published in The Economic and Social Research Institute, on July of 2010, author Emer Smyth reports
girls were more likely to obtain higher grades in

How Did Jefferson And Hamilton Influence Government
Noble Cunningham s book mentioned two of the most important people who influenced politics and
government in America after the independence. Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were
occupying important and sensitive position during that time in the American goverment.Thomas
Jefferson, a man born on April, 1743 in a rich family that afford him an excellent education in Virginia
(3). However, Alexander Hamilton was born in an uneducated poor family in West Indies on January
11, 1755 (3). Each one of these two politicians had conflict views on issues concerning government
that were generated from the environment they lived in. As a result, each of them shaped a political
party and was the head of that party. Jefferson was the head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Federalist represented by Hamilton wanted a manufacturing, commerce, finance, overseas trade,
tariffs, and business protection. However, Republicans wanted a simple agrarian economy favoring
yeoman farmers, who are the small farmers in the south, and they wanted the government to support
the interest of a common man. This different views of life styles made a huge conflict between the two
opposite parties represented by the two main leaders, Jefferson and Hamilton. They were both
working in the Washington s cabinet. Hamilton as the Secretary of Treasury with his group from New
England, and Jefferson as a Secretary of state with a group majority from the interior regions. When
the French Revolution started, Hamilton despised the violations and social disruptions, but Jefferson
admired the French Revolution because he thought it is the proper way to get freedom. Jefferson wrote
privately, God forbid we should be ever 20 years without such a rebellion.... The tree of liberty must
be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Gastric Emptying Studies
What is a gastric emptying study? The definition of a gastric emptying study is a procedure that is
done by nuclear medicine physicians using radioactive chemicals that measures the speed with which
food empties from the stomach and enters the small intestine . What does it have to do with nuclear
medicine and radioactive elements? That s a good question. It has to do with radioactive elements
because the meal, liquid, or both are mixed with a little bit of radioactive material, than gamma rays
are placed over the subjects stomach to track the amount of radioactivity that decreases in the
stomach. Gastric emptying studies use radioactive elements by using radioactive material. What is a
radioactive tracer? Another good question. That is

Arjuna s Daimonion
At first glance, it may seem as though the advice of Krishna and Socrates daimonion are saying the
same thing, but this couldn t be further from the truth. Krishna wants Arjuna to see the bigger picture
and know how his role affects not only him, but all of those around him. On the other hand, Socrates
daimonion pushes Socrates to do what is right by preventing him from doing actions that it perceives
as wrong. Contrasting these philosophical texts, Krishna has to persuade Arjuna to follow his moral
duty, while Socrates always complies with his daimonion.
When Arjuna first speaks to Krishna at the beginning of the video, he seems torn on where his duty
lies. If Arjuna chooses to fight, he will go to battle against his family and friends, ... Show more

While Socrates daimonion doesn t tell him exactly what to do, it does, however, dissuade Socrates
from doing an action it believes is wrong. As Socrates said in The Apology, You have often heard me
speak of an oracle or sign which comes to me...This sign I have had ever since I was a child. The sign
is a voice which comes to me and always forbids me to do something which I am going to do, but
never commands me to anything . Ultimately, Socrates will heed the warning of his daimonion over
his own reason of thought as suggested by this quote, Before this, the familiar oracle within me has
constantly been in the habit of opposing me even about trifles, if I was going to make a slip or error
about anything...I have often been stopped in the middle of speech... (Plato). Based on this, it seems
that Socrates will listen to his daimonion every time it advises him, even from the smallest of matters
and will go as far as to stop talking if his daimonion believes he is wrong. From this, it can be
perceived that Socrates trusts his daimonion s decision and knows that it will steer him towards the
right path. According to this philosophical text, a person should do what they believe is right, even if
they are standing alone. When Socrates is sentenced to death he remarks, I regard this as a proof that
what has happened to me is a good, and that those of us who think that death

Why Is Abortion Wrong
Abortion in a general sense is a wrong concept. Abortion is defined as the deliberate termination of a
human pregnancy most often perform doing the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Taking away human life
is morally wrong. It is generally understood that a fetus is a human being and that it is already a
person, secondly once it has been conceived within the womb it is a human being. Deuteronomy 27:25
says Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen . .

and is a sin against God laws. Exodus 23:7 says Keep thee far from a false matter, and the innocent

Lend Me a Tenor and One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
Two productions that I had enjoyed seeing very much were Lend Me a Tenor and One Flew over the
Cuckoo s Nest. Both of these productions were great and had very great storyline and I really enjoyed
both of these productions. Each production had great actors and each portrayed their character very
well, by using many of the aspects of the six elements of theatre that Aristotle used to explain the
aesthetics of theatre. Each of these productions had very interesting characters and also had great plots
that kept audiences on the edges of their seats. In each of these productions there were also many
recurring themes and important messages that were underlying the whole play. The design and
furniture of both plays were also very stunning and visually pleasing. In Lend Me a Tenor, there was a
set of a house, which was very neat and very pretty. The house was very great and also had other doors
to other rooms that were very neatly and visually set up. In the production, One Flew over the Cuckoo
s Nest, the design of the set was very horror filled and it was very dark because the setting was inside
an asylum. A lot of the plot production and set and use of characters to reveal the theme was prevalent
in both of the plays. Both productions had very great and visually pleasing sets, but also had
difference in the mood each set gave off. Each play also had a specific underlying theme, which was
developed throughout the play, by many different characters, sets, and symbols and

Eating Healthy
Healthy Living University of Phoenix Kayla Large 4/20/2013 Introduction Eating healthy foods and
getting plenty of exercise are the two most important things a person can do for their body to maintain
a healthy weight. When a person takes care of their body by eating healthy foods and exercising, the
person will notice that they have more energy and a more positive attitude overall. About 12.5 million
children and teens, and over one third of adults in the US have an obesity problem. The obesity
problem in children and teens has nearly tripled in the last 30 years. Eating healthy foods can benefit a
person by giving a person more natural energy, helping one maintain a healthy weight, and helping
one live longer. Natural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second strategy is treating yourself in small doses. When you are on a healthy eating diet, you
have to make sure that you do not deprive yourself of your sweet cravings. Instead of going crazy on
the sweets, ice cream, cake, pie, limit yourself to small amounts and only a couple of nights a week.
By doing this, your body is still getting the sweets that you crave and you can still stay at your healthy
weight. The main thing about this is to not let your body feel like you can t have something because
your temptations for that food will overcome you. The third thing is to eat less food more often. This
will help you feel satisfied and not feel like you are starving all day. When you eat five or six smaller
meals rather the three big meals, you will notice that it is easier for you to digest and you will have
more energy. The fourth thing is to make sure that you stay hydrated. Sometimes when you think you
are hungry, your body can actually be thirsty. Making sure you are drinking plenty of water is a great
way to stay healthy. The fifth thing is to snack smarter. Everybody snacks, which is not bad, but the
choice of snacks that we choose are not always good. When you are stressed out and tired, it is easy to
grab junk food to snack on so the best way to make sure this does not happen is to shop healthier, buy
healthy snacks, whether it be fresh

Impact of Media on the People of Pakistan
In the late 20th Century, mass media could be classified into eight mass media industries: books,
newspapers, magazines, recordings, radio, movies, television and the internet. With the explosion of
digital communication technology in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, the question of what forms
of media should be classified as mass media has become more prominent. For example, it is
controversial whether to include cell phones, video games and computer games (such as MMORPGs)
in the definition. In the 2000s, a classification called the seven mass media became popular. In order
of introduction, they are:
1. Print (books, pamphlets, newspapers, magazines, etc.) from the late 15th century
2. Recordings (gramophone records, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This transmittion of mass advertising to millions of people is a form of mass communication.
Video games may also be evolving into a mass medium. Video games convey the same messages and
ideologies to all their users users. Users sometimes share the experience with each other by playing
online. Excluding the internet however, it is questionable whether players of video games are sharing
a common experience when they play the game separately. It is possible to discuss in great detail the
events of a video game with a friend you have never played with because the experience was identical
to you both. The question is if this is then a form of mass communication.
MMORPGS such as Runescape provide a common gaming experience to millions of users throughout
the globe. It is arguable that the users are receiving the same message, i.e., the game is mass
communicating the same messages to the various players.
A life without the presence of mass media would seem improbable for many! Let s read about the pros
and cons of mass media and its effect on a larger scale.
Mass media enjoys a very prominent role in our lives. There are various effects of mass media on the
society at large. Media tends to influence and it s obvious, there are positive as well as negative
influences of mass media. However, it also depends upon the way audiences perceive things. The
power of the mass media is by far recognized by everybody in terms of advertising, marketing and as

The Importance Of Strath Suardal Formation Of The Durness...
The country rock was identified in the field to be a Meta Limestone, but a more in depth chemical
analysis done by others classifies it as a dolostone of the Strath Suardal formation from the Durness
group. (Digimap, 2017) (Goodenough et al. 2011)
There are two distinctive features present in this unit. The first is the syncline and anticline that extend
across the map in a NEE SWW strike, shown in Figure 5.1 (Need to fix map to show this). The second
is the thermal areole found in relation to the Beinn an Dubhaich granite intrusion. The most frequently
mentioned folding in the area is a large anticline which extends from the Beinn an Dubhaich intrusion

This correlates to Hoersch s highest temperature forsterite bearing zone which would be found closest

The Large Intrusive Igneous Rocks
In the area there are three main large igneous intrusions. Two are the granitic intrusions to the north
(Beinn Dearg Bheag/Inner Granite) and south (Beinn an Dubhaich) of the map in Figure 5.1.1, the
other is a smaller, patchy intrusion of Micro Diorite which curves across the north east of the map and
appears in blobs in other places within the Agglomerate unit.
This study classifies the two granites under one unit named the Kilbride Granite, however, the
research, which uses both radiometric dating and composition analysis, identifies them as two
compositionally separate units with different ages. On the other hand, it is not wrong to say that the
granites were related as they are the two latest forming members of the Eastern Red Hills complex.
(Bell and Harris, 1986)
The extent of the granites and their contacts with others are often heavily inferred. This was most
often due to poor exposure. Usually the granite contacts were inferred from topographical changes
instead of visible changes in rock type. Features such as clefts, also noticed by Raybould (1973), tree
lines and waterfalls (due to the relatively poor permeability and greater hardness of the granite in
comparison to the Meta Limestone), were all used to map the Beinn an Dubhaich granite. The Inner
Granite was signified by a steepening in slope angle and the

In the plays, the Duchess and Hermia defy the abuse of power, while Helena and Cariola submit to it.
In John Webster s The Duchess of Malfi, Webster uses the Duchess to signify courage and Cariola to
signify faintheartedness throughout the play. The Duchess has recently lost her husband, the supreme
ruler of the land, and has the option to remarry someone else into power. However, the Duchess s
brothers, Ferdinand and the Cardinal, do not want her to remarry to allow themselves to take the

Are Homeless People Right Or Wrong
Is it wrong to stare at someone after they fall rather than help them? Is it right to give money to a
homeless man begging in front of a sign that says no soliciting? Everyday we face situations where we
must decide whether something is right or wrong before we do it, or it ll be considered immoral or
wrong. With this stigma in mind, is the difference between right and wrong clear? How are we
affected by this kind of thought process? Though many people perceive right and wrong as a singular,
definitive, or one sided, statement where as something can ONLY be right or wrong, it is much more
complex than that. Right and wrong is relative, in need of variables, or in our case, in need of
circumstances. A long time ago, I read an article that said a group of scientists took a sample ... Show

Nearly all of the kids said the man was wrong for committing a crime of stealing, while everyone
north of 14 years old had said that it was justified because they were homeless. It is this gap of
judgement that helps define the difference between right and wrong. Without taking personal feelings
into consideration, you can conclude that there is no right or wrong, what is right to one may be wrong
to others, you can even use that logic to the statement i just made! From the moment we are able to
comprehend spoken language and/or communicate through some other method, we are taught that
there is a right and wrong without being able to fully grasp the content of a situation. This leads to
kids to decide that something is right or wrong without putting any thought into their answer. Even
considering that judgement skills aren t fully developed, to some it might cause them to think in that
very linear fashion their whole lives. This Keth 1 could lead to discrimination, the belief that your
ideas and way of life is superior to others, and unfair, but not necessarily wrong actions imposed on
others. During the time of Salem

Copper Preparation Lab Report
4. Describe the procedure for extracting copper from one of its ores. Include relevant chemical
reactions, equations and energy considerations involved. Extraction of copper from chalcopyrite
(CuFe2) occurs using processes such as: mining crushing, froth flotation, roasting smelting and
electrolytic refining.
Mining the ore
Copper ore contains approximately 0.5% copper and 99.5% unwanted rock. To help separate the
mineral copper from the gangue (sand, rock and other impurities), the ore is crushed and ground to a
fine powder form ball mills (0.3mm particle size). Concentrating the ore (froth floatation)
This is the step in which there is the separation of the mineral is and the gangue. Milled ore is then
mixed with collectors i.e. water, detergent, and oils. This is then fed into banks of floatation cells or
tanks. Here air is blown into the mixture forming bubbles. Copper particles will adhere to the bubbles
which rise to the surface. This froth is then removed and put through another series of test where the
water and other unwanted chemicals are removed. This then leaves the concentrated metal which is
now referred to as the metal concentrate. The ore contains approximately 30% copper after this
process. Gangue is removed from the bottom of the tank ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is then placed in a furnace that is heated to temperatures up to 1000°C. Combustion of the coal
releases heat, the sand and lime act as a fluxing agent, which removes the impurities of the iron, for
example Iron (II) silicate. These impurities then float to the top where they are removed and discarded.
Copper matte is then formed, a mixture of Copper (I) oxide and copper (I) sulphide which contains
about 50 70% copper. The copper matte is then mixed with additional sand and smelted again to
produce molten copper metal, about 98% pure. Air is blown through molten copper at 1400°C,
converting sulphides to sulphur

Salvador Dali Analysis
Salvador Dali s painting represents the scientific Freudian influence. Everything appears to be in a
dream like state because nothing makes logical sense. The idea behind the artwork is because of
melting cheese and bizarre dreams. It is stated that, the message Dali is trying to spread is that life is
fast paced and full of choices which sometimes produce unfavorable outcomes, but we move on
(Ukessays 1). Each clock represents a different time in life, whether it is his past, is current state, or
his future. The jagged cracks in the mountains symbolize the rough patches or cracks that one must go
through in life and the reflections in the water and platform show how those mistakes reflect who we
are. The dead tree shows that eventually we all will grow old and die. Lastly, the white figure is
Salvador Dali and how his life is slowly ticking away as well and the eyes are shut because he is
reflecting on it in a dream. The final artwork of Salvador Dali s that exemplifies Surrealism is Portrait
de Paul Eluard (fig. 3). This artwork was painted in 1929 is also an oil on canvas. It can be found in
the Dali Theatre and Museum, Figueres, Spain. The dimensions of Portrait de Paul Eluard (fig. 3) are
33 x 25 cm. The painting is of a man named Paul Eluard and is full of multiple objects that are all very
abstract. The background is plain with a blue sky that fades from blue to white. The ground is a faded
yet delicate brown. In the foreground there is much more detail. There

Comparing The Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of Capitalism
Capitalism is an economic system in a society in which private owners control industry and trade
within a country, rather than the state. Both Karl Marx and Max Weber, have written theories on how
this system develops in countries and creates a nation state that is characterised by production and
wealth. Marx s theory takes more of a top down approach, suggesting that people have little power in
how their society is run. On the other hand, Weber s bottom up approach demonstrates how people
have the ability to initiate capitalism and change their society. Marx s theory of historical materialism
is based on a 5 stage system inevitable of any society, Weber s theory of The Protestant Ethic and the
Spirit of Capitalism states that it was a much smaller group within a feudal society whose religiosity
inadvertently kick started capitalism. Although both these theories look at how capitalism develops
within a society, Marx s macro scale theory is more applicable to every society, unlike Weber s micro
scale approach that focuses on one group within society and their spirit of capitalism . Naturally, the
theories vary due to the time of writing and the economic or political situation. Marx wrote of
historical materialism during a German economic crisis, whereas Weber wrote his theory a generation
after, seeing the economy develop and stabilise. This impacted the message they were portraying and
influenced two opposing theories.

Proud My Heritage
I am proud of my heritage, my melanin and my culture. I will not hide my skin because someone else
is biased and ignorant. Many people before me have made history and have paved the way for future
generations of African Americans to do something great. They ve became doctors, lawyers, engineers
and yet no one has recognized the great things the people of my culture have done. People are not
proud of their heritage, they never want to praise those who came before them. People like Madam
Efunroye Tinubu, Claudette Colvin and Henry McNeal Turner paved the way for African Americans
to have a cultural identity. I am proud to be an African American and proud to be apart of a tight knit,
community like culture.

Within the Black Power Conferences, African issues such as the Civil War in Nigeria were discussed.
The peoples of the conference opted for unification as a tactic that would fight forces of European
imperialism that divided the country. There were many organizations, such as the Black Panther Party,
which were anti imperialist. Unlike Garvey s organization, the Black Panthers supported third world
countries while they were on their quest for independence. They also wanted to establish a strong
African American presence in the United States. During the time of the Black Panther Party and the
Black Power Movement, the Arusha Declaration was passed in Tanzania. It highlighted the growing
trend of Africanization of the black community and put forth concepts relevant to the struggles of the
Black community. The Declaration was centered around Ujamaa, the concept of being united in every

Reading And Thought By Dwight Macdonlad
Reading and Thoughts In the essay Reading and Thought , Dwight MacDonlad talked about the kind
of poor reading people are attached to in modern society. MacDonald believed reading materials such
as Times and New York Times are too overwhelming for the readers. Readers tend to skim through the
reading materials because most of the reading do not have any connections with their daily lives.
Moreover, MacDoanld claimed that the readings people do these days are not thoughtful. The readings
are rather irrelevant toward the readers. It is because the journalists to produce dull pieces of readings
which are meant to be skimmed through without having too much thoughts involved. As the
journalists do not have much consideration of the materials they produced. To the journalists the
readings they produce are just a series of news that should be read driftly and left behind with no
thoughful idea needed to be informed. These effects caused modern society to have a poor reading
habits because people do not reflect and give time to think about the readings they did. Readers
casually accept the readings even though they do not have provide any resourceful information for the
readers. Through MacDonald s argument, I agree with his position in modern society s reading and
thought process. People do have poor reading habits as the quality of reading starts to rapidly
decrease. Nowadays the readings are meant to be done in a fast pace just by skimming and glancing

Compare And Contrast Okitsu And Kakegawa
Japan discovered their identity through borrowing and adapting ideas from other countries. From
China to the West, Japan has always been flexible and open to a borrowing a wide diversity of things,
ranging from politics, architecture, and even woodblock prints. Adapted from China, woodblock
prints, or ukiyo e, use location, color, content, subject, proportions, and perspectives to depict a
scenery. The art from a time or country can be used to infer many things about its culture and people.
The two woodblock prints featured in this essay are Okitsu and Kakegawa by Ando Hiroshige. These
prints represent how the Tokugawa period changed the course of Japan and how Tokugawa Japan was
a peaceful time of stability.

Two figures walking up the bridge seem to be a man and an elder, as indicated by how one is
extremely hunched over and holding his back while the other is turning as if to check on the elder s
condition. A playful looking boy follows them, his arms waving energetically as he trots behind them
barefooted. And coming down from the bridge, there is a man adorned in a bright red cloak followed
by another man, both with big hats covering their bald heads. All of the people range in age, outfits,
and personas, which suggests that they all are from different places and have different destinations and
purposes to get there. It can be inferred that because the Tokugawa period was a time of peace, that
people were more inclined to travel due to the stability of the period. Instead of just traveling for trade
and goods, people started to venture out more casually and for personal gain, exemplified by how the
boy is barefooted, suggesting that he is only traveling a small distance, and the monk and disciple are
likely traveling for religious means. The bridge in the foreground also indicates that the Tokugawa
period was a time of stability. Built with thick wooden beams, the bridge appears sturdy enough to be
able to bear the many travelers passing over it. This shows that there was

DHL Express, a division of DHL that provides express delivery services. The purpose of both
advertisements is to promote the quality and efficiency of the DHL logistics services. Figure 1 is
precisely targeted at customers who require time critical delivery services, whereas Figure 2 is
targeted at anyone who demands logistics services in general. Both advertisements are in the form of
print media with minimal use of language. Similar techniques including the use of slogans and colour
are employed in both advertisements to convey their message effectively. Both advertisements are
targeted at individuals and businesses that require delivery services. Figure 1 is particularly aimed at
potential customers who need priority express delivery services such as time and day definite services.
This is conveyed through the logo, DHL Express , which identifies the specific segment of the
company. On the other hand, the target audience for Figure 2 is generally any potential individual or
business with occasional or regular delivery needs. This advertisement focuses on promoting DHL s
prime quality of time efficient delivery using a short and clear cut slogan, Always first. Although the
logo for Figure 1 is slightly different from the second one, both advertisements use logos and slogans

Honor Is Love In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel...
Honor is Love in Chronicle of a Death Foretold In Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia
Marquez, honor is a very prominent theme in the town and its culture. The need for honor influences
many actions taken by individuals and traditions that characters strictly follow. As the narrator s
mother states, honor is love. The reader sees this statement supported throughout the story through
beliefs and actions of the Vicario twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople as a whole. Honor is
such a guiding force in the small community that it almost replaces what love should be. Pura Vicario,
Angela s mother, for example, values honor more than she values true family cherishing and love.
Angela s twin brothers have high respect for their own family honor, and they strive to uphold it by
showing their love for their sister in hunting Santiago to retrieve her honor. The townspeople display
their devotion to honor as they do not attempt to stop Santiago Nasar s death. The qualified statement
honor is love applies to the novel in actions by the twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople, and
how their desperation to defend honor controls them. First, the Vicario brothers prove to be very clear
examples of honor is love through their actions to kill Santiago Nasar. Although they do not quite
desire to murder him, they know that in order to gain their mother s love and show their own love for
Angela, they have to kill Santiago. Pablo and Pedro realize that they must not allow

Lord of the Flies Comparative Analysis
Lord of the Flies Comparative Analysis Angela Boui Throughout the book Lord of the Flies several
different universal themes occurred. Not just in this book but in movies and TV shows as well. The
different themes all show morals surrounding situations both good and bad. One main theme that is
present is how people abuse power when it is not earned. This happens because people crave power
and they want to be in control. In the following paragraphs, different themes will be linked with the
book Lord of the Flies and similar movies and TV shows such as the Walking Dead and the book Miss
Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children . Themes throughout the book Lord of the Flies also interpret
the same meaning as in the television ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second quote from Lord of the Flies is when Jack said to Piggy You would, would you? Fatty!
Jack had said this in a vicious and humiliating way because he wanted Piggy to feel left out and very
discouraged. The same thing happened in the book Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children
because Jacob had been an outcast ever since he had seen that horrible beast like thing. His friends had
started calling him crazy only to make themselves feel better and to put Jacob down. The last theme
that occurred in both books was that society holds everyone together. In Lord of the Flies, the Island
had been their society. The quote that shows how society is falling apart is The world, that
understandable and lawful world, was slipping away. The same meaning is also present in Miss
Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children. When Jacob left his home in Florida, he had lost all signs of
society. He had shut out all rules and went to a different time zone. His world was overrun with
monsters. With all the different themes happening inside the book Lord of the Flies we are able to link
them to other movies and TV shows. The different themes show how any movie or TV show can have
similar themes but can have a very diverse background. In conclusion, the themes of the book Lord of
the Flies have shown similar relations to The Walking Dead TV series and the book Miss Peregrine s
Home for Peculiar Children . They have all shown

  • 2. IS, LM model and explanations(in the form of an essay). Essay topic1. Introduction: During the years after World War II, the development of the IS LM model took several directions. Probably, the most prominent ideas on that theory were expressed in the work of John Hicks called Mr. Keynes and the Classics . The model expressed in the article was largely based on the works of John Maynard Keynes and became a widely accepted as the alternative framework to standard Keynesian analysis. The IS LM model is a way of modelling equilibrium in the economy by looking at equilibrium in the goods and services markets (the IS curve) and equilibrium in the money markets (LM curve). Where both these markets are in equilibrium will be the equilibrium level of income. The IS LM model looks at income against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the amount of income from Y`1 to Y1 will be anattainable because of outcrowding of the private sector by the public sector investment (shaded area). The degree of crowding out depends on severeal factors. One of them is the extent of multiplier effect. Multiplier effect occurs when increase in investment or any other autonomous expenditure leads to even greater increase in income. For example, it may become widely believed that the MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) is going to reduce the rate of interest. In that case, number of leackages in the economy in the form of savings is likely to decline and consumption to increase. This will result in the larger propensity to consume for every marginal unit of income. Increase in consumption should lead to increase in investment and more flatter IS curve (see figure 3), which will mean greater degree of crowding out. Figure 3. r LM r` r IS` IS 0
  • 3. Y0 Y1 Y`1 Y There are other factors influencing the extent of crowding out effect. Effectivness of fiscal policy also depends on the elasticities of IS and LM schedules. If investment is relatively sensetive to the changes in the rate of interest, than for any change in interest rate there will relatively big change in investment and correspondingly equilibrium rate of output. In that case the IS curve will be relatively interest elastic and flatter. If the IS curve is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Neonatal Brain Mri Image Database As shown in the above figure 1, the input neonatal image from the database is preprocessed using techniques such as noise removal, inhomogeneity and partial volume correction. Then from the preprocessed image the texture feature is extracted through EWT (Empirical Wavelet transform) and the most relevant features like Entropy, Correlation, Contrast, Homogeneity and Dissimilarity are chosen by GLCM (Gray Level Co Occurrence Matrix). Based on the selected features the image is segmented by means of SOM DCNN and then from the segmented image the tissues are classified through the help of sparse auto encoder. Consider is the neonatal brain MRI image database, where is the number of images and the vector function of each image in the neonatal brain MRI image database is given as . 3.1 Preprocessing The regions of an image containing different intensity values can be modelled as a finite Gaussian distribution. All the pixels in the same image belongs to same class and energy function is given by (1) Where is a set of Gaussian parameters; is the Gaussian mean and is the Gaussian variance for the object . Also reduction of noise present in the image is important and it is done when the contextual constraint is taken into account as the weight of the pixel. For the above equation 4 with zero mean only the variance is varied by additive Gaussian noise. By this way the Gaussian model suppress the Gaussian noise and variation can be ... • 5. Princess Diana Impact Of Beauty Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you (Diana, Princess of Wales). Princess Diana was one of the world s most beloved and recognizable figures. Diana exemplified beauty and style, yet she was more than a pretty face as she changed the way the public looks at modern monarchies through her humanitarian efforts and down to earth approach. Diana s life seemed like a charmed one. She was the daughter of nobility chosen to marry the Prince of England. Diana, Princess of Wales, 1961 97, was wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, heir to the British throne. The daughter of the 8th Earl Spencer, Lady Diana Frances Spencer was a kindergarten teacher in London before her 1981 marriage to Charles (Princess of Wales, Diana). Diana was chosen specifically for her youth and beauty so that she could produce attractive and healthy offspring for the British monarchy. They needed a male heir and a spare. She delivered on her end of the deal when William was born in 1982, and Harry, in 1994 (Princess of Wales, Diana). Diana was supposed to do whatever she was told by the royal family, and produce sons. Her personal happiness was not a factor. Her husband had an ongoing affair with his long time love Camilla Parker Bowles during most of his marriage to Diana. They fought constantly, and it didn t help that she often stole the spotlight with her effortless grace and beauty. Diana, Princess of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. What Are The Pros And Cons Of Plea Bargaining Plea bargaining is important in the criminal justice system. It is an essential tool that benefits not only the prosecutor but the defense attorney and the defendant. Plea bargaining allows attorneys to decide cases without needing the judge or a jury to decide the case. It can be beneficial to both the prosecutor and the defense attorney because the prosecutor will have a conviction and the defense attorney would have gained a lesser charge for his client. Throughout this paper I will lead you through the process of plea bargaining, the pros and cons, and how it reflects on crime control and the due process model. Plea Bargaining What is plea bargaining? According to Black s Law Dictionary it is a negotiated agreement between a prosecutor and a criminal defendant whereby the defendant pleads guilty to a lesser offense or to one of multiple charges in exchange for some concession by the prosecutor. This usually involves the defendant pleading guilty to a lighter sentence. If the offer by the prosecution is accepted then the defendant can either plead guilty or nolo contendere which means I do not contest this. Both of the pleas are similar, the only difference is the nolo contendere plea cannot be used as admission of guilt in a civil case (Siegel, Schmalleger, Worrall, Chapter 12, 2011). ... • 9. Robert s Blindness The narrator in the play is portrayed as superficial, self centered, and egotistical. Although his actions demonstrate his character he lacks comprehension in the way relationships and people are presented to him, which clearly shows his tragic flaw: although Robert takes the place of a physically blind character the narrator is one who is mentally blind. In the husband s eyes, Robert s blindness is his identifier. In actuality, any prejudice based on gender; race, or disability takes form in a person who lacks the ability to look past false qualities. The first step towards starting your family tree is to gather as much information from living relatives. It is a good idea to interview as many different relatives as you can. There are several ways one can go about preserving your family history. One can use a video camera and take video of the relative. Another method for getting the information down is to audio record an interview with the relative. Yet if one so desires they could also take notes on a computer. Note taking on a computer is an easier form to record the family information in. However you decide to record your information be sure to get your relative s permission before choosing a method. It may make them uncomfortable if you are interviewing them with a video camera without prior notice. What kinds of questions should one ask when starting a genealogical interview? Some example questions could be: Asking your relative when they were born; What they remember as a child; or family stories. Family stories are excellent sources of information since they give greater insight into other family members. The best way to get family information is to get as many family stories in as much detail. Once you get all the details from your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Recently single sex schools have made a comeback, and this has raised the question of whether they are better than coeducational schools. In single sex educational systems, male and female students are separated and taught in different school buildings or classrooms. In a historical point of view, only boys were given the opportunity to pursue formal education in the United States. Schools for women began to spread in the beginning of the nineteenth century, almost one hundred years before they were granted the right to vote. According to Leonard Sax, psychologist and founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Single Sex Public Education, Single sex education works better. Kids who attend single sex schools not only do better academically but also have a better attitude toward school and a better outlook on life. He also argues that placing them in separate classrooms wouldn t accomplish as much as separate schools, (NASSE). Sax believes that boys learn differently than girls and take more time to develop. He uses research about brain maturation, hearing, vision and temperature sensitivity to support his claim, and argues that boys typically receive more attention from teachers and have less chances of harassment, and at often times very distracting. He points out, What we re doing right now pretending that gender doesn t matter is not working, he says. We are losing ground. The effects can be minor, for example, studies have indicated girls perform better when the classroom temperature is warm, while boys perform better in cooler temperatures. More considerable effects include higher test scores. Krishna wants Arjuna to see the bigger picture and know how his role affects not only him, but all of those around him. On the other hand, Socrates daimonion pushes Socrates to do what is right by preventing him from doing actions that it perceives as wrong. Contrasting these philosophical texts, Krishna has to persuade Arjuna to follow his moral duty, while Socrates always complies with his daimonion. The sign is a voice which comes to me and always forbids me to do something which I am going to do, but never commands me to anything . Ultimately, Socrates will heed the warning of his daimonion over his own reason of thought as suggested by this quote, Before this, the familiar oracle within me has constantly been in the habit of opposing me even about trifles, if I was going to make a slip or error about anything...I have often been stopped in the middle of speech... Based on this, it seems that Socrates will listen to his daimonion every time it advises him, even from the smallest of matters and will go as far as to stop talking if his daimonion believes he is wrong. From this, it can be perceived that Socrates trusts his daimonion s decision and knows that it will steer him towards the right path. Both of these productions were great and had very great storyline and I really enjoyed both of these productions. Each production had great actors and each portrayed their character very well, by using many of the aspects of the six elements of theatre that Aristotle used to explain the aesthetics of theatre. Each of these productions had very interesting characters and also had great plots that kept audiences on the edges of their seats. In each of these productions there were also many recurring themes and important messages that were underlying the whole play. The design and furniture of both plays were also very stunning and visually pleasing. In Lend Me a Tenor, there was a set of a house, which was very neat and very pretty. The house was very great and also had other doors to other rooms that were very neatly and visually set up. In the production, One Flew over the Cuckoo s Nest, the design of the set was very horror filled and it was very dark because the setting was inside an asylum. A lot of the plot production and set and use of characters to reveal the theme was prevalent in both of the plays. When you are on a healthy eating diet, you have to make sure that you do not deprive yourself of your sweet cravings. Instead of going crazy on the sweets, ice cream, cake, pie, limit yourself to small amounts and only a couple of nights a week. By doing this, your body is still getting the sweets that you crave and you can still stay at your healthy weight. The main thing about this is to not let your body feel like you can t have something because your temptations for that food will overcome you. The third thing is to eat less food more often. This will help you feel satisfied and not feel like you are starving all day. When you eat five or six smaller meals rather the three big meals, you will notice that it is easier for you to digest and you will have more energy. The fourth thing is to make sure that you stay hydrated. Sometimes when you think you are hungry, your body can actually be thirsty. Making sure you are drinking plenty of water is a great way to stay healthy. The fifth thing is to snack smarter. Everybody snacks, which is not bad, but the choice of snacks that we choose are not always good. It is possible to discuss in great detail the events of a video game with a friend you have never played with because the experience was identical to you both. The question is if this is then a form of mass communication. MMORPGS such as Runescape provide a common gaming experience to millions of users throughout the globe. On the other hand, it is not wrong to say that the granites were related as they are the two latest forming members of the Eastern Red Hills complex. (Bell and Harris, 1986) The extent of the granites and their contacts with others are often heavily inferred. This was most often due to poor exposure. Usually the granite contacts were inferred from topographical changes instead of visible changes in rock type. Features such as clefts, also noticed by Raybould (1973), tree lines and waterfalls (due to the relatively poor permeability and greater hardness of the granite in comparison to the Meta Limestone), were all used to map the Beinn an Dubhaich granite. Extraction of copper from chalcopyrite (CuFe2) occurs using processes such as: mining crushing, froth flotation, roasting smelting and electrolytic refining. Mining the ore Copper ore contains approximately 0.5% copper and 99.5% unwanted rock. To help separate the mineral copper from the gangue (sand, rock and other impurities), the ore is crushed and ground to a fine powder form ball mills (0.3mm particle size). Concentrating the ore (froth floatation) This is the step in which there is the separation of the mineral is and the gangue. Milled ore is then mixed with collectors i.e. water, detergent, and oils. This is then fed into banks of floatation cells or tanks. Here air is blown into the mixture forming bubbles. Copper particles will adhere to the bubbles which rise to the surface. This froth is then removed and put through another series of test where the water and other unwanted chemicals are removed. This then leaves the concentrated metal which is now referred to as the metal concentrate. The ore contains approximately 30% copper after this process. • 28. Comparing The Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of Capitalism Capitalism is an economic system in a society in which private owners control industry and trade within a country, rather than the state. Both Karl Marx and Max Weber, have written theories on how this system develops in countries and creates a nation state that is characterised by production and wealth. Marx s theory takes more of a top down approach, suggesting that people have little power in how their society is run. On the other hand, Weber s bottom up approach demonstrates how people have the ability to initiate capitalism and change their society. Marx s theory of historical materialism is based on a 5 stage system inevitable of any society, Weber s theory of The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism states that it was a much smaller group within a feudal society whose religiosity inadvertently kick started capitalism. Although both these theories look at how capitalism develops within a society, Marx s macro scale theory is more applicable to every society, unlike Weber s micro scale approach that focuses on one group within society and their spirit of capitalism . Naturally, the theories vary due to the time of writing and the economic or political situation. Marx wrote of historical materialism during a German economic crisis, whereas Weber wrote his theory a generation after, seeing the economy develop and stabilise. This impacted the message they were portraying and influenced two opposing theories. Based on Hegel s idea of dialectics shaping society and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people before me have made history and have paved the way for future generations of African Americans to do something great. They ve became doctors, lawyers, engineers and yet no one has recognized the great things the people of my culture have done. People are not proud of their heritage, they never want to praise those who came before them. People like Madam Efunroye Tinubu, Claudette Colvin and Henry McNeal Turner paved the way for African Americans to have a cultural identity. I am proud to be an African American and proud to be apart of a tight knit, community like culture. Pan Africanism is the unification of all peoples of the ... The peoples of the conference opted for unification as a tactic that would fight forces of European imperialism that divided the country. There were many organizations, such as the Black Panther Party, which were anti imperialist. Unlike Garvey s organization, the Black Panthers supported third world countries while they were on their quest for independence. • 30. Reading And Thought By Dwight Macdonlad Reading and Thoughts In the essay Reading and Thought , Dwight MacDonlad talked about the kind of poor reading people are attached to in modern society. MacDonald believed reading materials such as Times and New York Times are too overwhelming for the readers. Readers tend to skim through the reading materials because most of the reading do not have any connections with their daily lives. Moreover, MacDoanld claimed that the readings people do these days are not thoughtful. The readings are rather irrelevant toward the readers. It is because the journalists to produce dull pieces of readings which are meant to be skimmed through without having too much thoughts involved. As the journalists do not have much consideration of the materials they produced. To the journalists the readings they produce are just a series of news that should be read driftly and left behind with no thoughful idea needed to be informed. These effects caused modern society to have a poor reading habits because people do not reflect and give time to think about the readings they did. Readers casually accept the readings even though they do not have provide any resourceful information for the readers. Through MacDonald s argument, I agree with his position in modern society s reading and thought process. People do have poor reading habits as the quality of reading starts to rapidly decrease. Nowadays the readings are meant to be done in a fast pace just by skimming and glancing through the text ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two figures walking up the bridge seem to be a man and an elder, as indicated by how one is extremely hunched over and holding his back while the other is turning as if to check on the elder s condition. A playful looking boy follows them, his arms waving energetically as he trots behind them barefooted. And coming down from the bridge, there is a man adorned in a bright red cloak followed by another man, both with big hats covering their bald heads. All of the people range in age, outfits, and personas, which suggests that they all are from different places and have different destinations and purposes to get there. It can be inferred that because the Tokugawa period was a time of peace, that people were more inclined to travel due to the stability of the period. Instead of just traveling for trade and goods, people started to venture out more casually and for personal gain, exemplified by how the boy is barefooted, suggesting that he is only traveling a small distance, and the monk and disciple are likely traveling for religious means. The bridge in the foreground also indicates that the Tokugawa period was a time of stability. Built with thick wooden beams, the bridge appears sturdy enough to be able to bear the many travelers passing over it. This shows that there was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Honor Is Love In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel... Honor is Love in Chronicle of a Death Foretold In Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, honor is a very prominent theme in the town and its culture. The need for honor influences many actions taken by individuals and traditions that characters strictly follow. As the narrator s mother states, honor is love. The reader sees this statement supported throughout the story through beliefs and actions of the Vicario twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople as a whole. Honor is such a guiding force in the small community that it almost replaces what love should be. Pura Vicario, Angela s mother, for example, values honor more than she values true family cherishing and love. Angela s twin brothers have high respect for their own family honor, and they strive to uphold it by showing their love for their sister in hunting Santiago to retrieve her honor. The townspeople display their devotion to honor as they do not attempt to stop Santiago Nasar s death. The qualified statement honor is love applies to the novel in actions by the twins, Angela s mother, and the townspeople, and how their desperation to defend honor controls them. First, the Vicario brothers prove to be very clear examples of honor is love through their actions to kill Santiago Nasar. Although they do not quite desire to murder him, they know that in order to gain their mother s love and show their own love for Angela, they have to kill Santiago.
