1. KILLER’S IDENTITY IS A MYSTERY
• Most Slasher films will have a killer whose identity is
unknown for most of the film, sometimes all of it. This
is to keep the audience interested by leaving his
identity up to them and as a narrative tool, so the
protagonists have something to investigate.
• In my media product, we have used this with our
own villain for these reasons and to also make him
more sinister as he is faceless murderer

3. YOUNG CHARACTERS
• Certain films use age as a way so the characters
can relate to the audience. An example of this is a
Coming of age drama. These films use teenagers
and they appeal to teenagers.
• In my media product, the main characters are
young, as to attract people in the same age gap.

5. LOCATION
• A horror films setting is key. It would be set
somewhere ‘normal’ such as a school or woods, as
to have the audience in a familiar setting so they
can then have a new fear for it.
• In my media product, I used a common setting of
horror films. I used a wooded area for narrative
purposes, as the killer kills his victims there, and for
the purpose above, as to make a familiar setting
scary for a viewer.
