2. RESEARCH
CHRONICLE: A science-fiction film released in 2012 which is presented as
found footage from a group of average teenagers who came across some kind of
ball of light which left them with powers to move, but for one of the friends the
power became a chance to dominate and used this powers to go against good.
HOT FUZZ: A action film released in 2007 which is an shown as a social realist
film but with use of action cinematography and editing. It is about a police man
who gets assigned to a town which has a low crime rate and he figure out that the
crime rate is so low because the accident rate is so high and then solves a massive
scheme with his new partner in crime
3. PLOT ONE
A group of three college friends go out on a group trip with their art
class to travel Sweden forests for nature printing where they find
themselves waking up in a wooden hut deep in the forest, legs and arms
bound. They had been kidnapped and held captive by hidden woodsmen
where they grow drugs. For the next 48 hours they will need to push their
bodies to limits they never thought existed to get away from these
psychopaths and back to safety even if that means they get someone else's
blood on their hands.
4. PLOT TWO
Three college friends go out to town at the weekend to visit a parade, at first
everything is normal like it always has been but all of a sudden something attacks. A
massive bomb goes off in the big crowd which sent the survivors into hysterics as
they try and run for safety, but only to find that they had been boxed in by a troop
of guys in black masks. It was terrorist attack and they had been captured. The
three friends start a video log of everything that is happening on their iPhones
incase they don’t make it, in hope that this video will be found and these men can
be captured. Everyone was tortured and fearful and although no one made it out
alive the video was found.
5. SOUNDTRACK IDEAS
For my soundtrack I will be using garage band to create sound effects that are
aimed to be ambient to reflect the social realist side to my genre to give it that
everyday normal effect such as if I happen to be in a city, crowds of people
nattering and car driving past and beeping horns. To reflect my action side to the
genre I will be aiming my score towards those scenes which I will use to cause
tension between characters for the audience to feel and I will use sound effects such
as guns, explosions, punching, all to emphasis action within the film. I think the two
genres will merge together well when using the sound because I feel there will be a
clear distinction to the audience about which parts are aimed at which genre.
6. LOCATION
A house party for the opening scene
An open ground for the dead body
Woodland space for a chase
An abandoned building or wreckage for the hiding scenes
Always crowded locations to show the suffocation and torment of
what has happened and the constant need to hide from it
7. TYPICAL DIRECTION
Cinematography:
Begin with an establishing shot to show the vastness of where they are and suggests
it’s like a maze they cannot escape.
Medium close-ups of characters to emphasis the emotions the characters are feeling
Medium long shots to show the audience the body language of the characters which
will enhance the feeling of anticipation and the fear they have of being found
Long shots to show the side of the surroundings compared to the characters making
them look trapped and vulnerable as they will seem small (for example in the forest scene)
8. HOW YOU WILL LINK IT TO
YOUR ANCILLARY
For the magazine we will have to include the three main characters
looking like students but with a medium close up on one perhaps to show
the facial expressions which may hint towards the hybrid genre. The
background for the poster will look quite big to make them look
vulnerable suggesting that they are trapped in their latest events and can’t
escape from it and the whole point of making them look vulnerable and
possible in the position of running will hint towards the genres.
9. WHAT I NEED TO ACHIEVE
WHAT I WANT TO
We will need to all work together as a team and express and agree on our ideas
to come up with the most suited plan for our chosen genres and narrative. We will
have to assign ourselves to a specific element within the trailer (cinematography,
sound, mise-en-scene, editing) so we are all sharing duties equally and putting in as
much effort needed therefore this will let us focus on individual tasks to get them to
their highest potential. On the poster and magazine cover that we are working on
alone I will have to choose a colour scheme that is suitable, take appropriate pictures
for the genre, choose relevant locations that suit the genre and guide the models to
fit in with the narrative.
