• 18 of 27 trams in the Operational pool at any one time
• 12 weeks in Conservation – Minimal maintenance
• Pre Service daily operational checks - undertaken by Edinburgh

  • 7. 2016 - Year of Enhancement • Adult City return ticket–Implemented April 2016 • Doubling of the frequency during AM/PM peaks (10-5mins) Implemented July 2016 • Later trams to support the festivals– August 2016 • TVM improvements–reliability improvements, relocation into Airport Terminal and contactless payment- Ongoing • Synchronise early starts with Edinburgh Airport flight timings–Under review • Enhanced 7.5 minute all day service- December 2016
  • 8. 2016 - Year of Enhancement • First in Scotland to provide real time passenger information using Google maps. • Ongoing refurbishment of travel shops and new shop opened opposite Haymarket Station. • EastCoast Buses launched two new routes in August connecting North Berwick with Musselburgh and Edinburgh and Dunbar with Haddington and Edinburgh. • Thirty new open-top double deck vehicles introduced for Edinburgh Bus Tours. • Extra two million passengers travelled on LB services in 2015, taking the total for the year to over 121 million.

Tram Fleet • 27 CAF units • 42.8 metres long (in seven sections) • 250 passengers • 78 seats, 2 dedicated wheelchair spaces • 100% low floor, step-free boarding • Wide gangways and room for luggage • 70kph maximum speed (50mph) • 18 of 27 trams in the Operational pool at any one time • 12 weeks in Conservation – Minimal maintenance • Pre Service daily operational checks - undertaken by Edinburgh Trams • CAF Maintenance traditional cumulative regime based on a 2 weekly cycle

  1. East Coast Buses - and covered services previously operated by Firstbus. EBT - The buses were specially commissioned, making them a UK first, fitted to a high specification with two dedicated wheelchairs, coloured LED destination information display equipment, Wi-Fi and CCTV. Bucking the national trend - The increase follows a rise of 3 million the previous year and contrasts with a long-term decline in the number of bus journeys undertaken across Scotland.
  2. 58% of city residents, who work or study in Edinburgh, commute on foot, by bike or by public transport. 71.5% of resident walk for 3 or more days as a means of transport, e.g. going to work or shopping , this is much higher than any other Scottish city and the Scottish average. Walking in Edinburgh comprises around: 32% of all trips as the main mode; 60% of child journeys to school; and 19% of journeys to work.
