Lesson: Different Types of Propaganda Techniques
Instructional Problem:
The instructional problem addressed is students’ misunderstanding and
confusion about the different types of Propaganda Techniques.

Grade: 8
Age Range: 13 – 14
Learner Skills: Visualizing, Predicting, Understanding, Comprehending
Prior Knowledge: Students have familiarized the different advertisements on
Radio as well as on television

A. Topic: Types of Propaganda Techniques

C. Materials: visual aids, pictures, laptop, projector, PPT
Students will watch different advertisements on the television.
Students will answer questions asked by the teachers after watching the
advertisements.
Student will observe the different advertisements and identify each.
Student will participate by group to make their own advertisement.
Student will perform the given activity based on the Rubrics.
Student will individually answer the Assessment.
Instructional
Objectives:
After this lesson, the students will be able to:
- Identify what is a Propaganda;;
- Perform a Propaganda by group using the different types of Propaganda
techniques;
- Determine the issue and stand presented in the material viewed (cigarette
smoking)
Sequencing Content:
Today, we’re going to discuss advertisement or sometimes called as
Propaganda.
Ask: What is Propaganda?
PROPAGANDA - publicly promoting something; may it be an organization or
government to
to influence an audience.
There are some basic Propaganda Techniques:
1. Bandwagon (let student watch a bandwagon advertisement.
Ask: based on that ad, what do you think is bandwagon all about?)
~ Persuading people to do something by letting them know others are doing it.
2. Testimonial (let student watch the testimonial ad. Then ask some questions)
~ Using the words of a famous person to persuade you.
3. Plain Folks (let student watch the plain folks ad. Then ask some questions)
~ Use of a common man, ordinary person to promote a product. Scenes of
family, blue-collar workers, ordinary people.
4. Repetition (let student watch the repetition ad. Then ask some questions)
~ when the product‘s name is repeated at least four times in the ad
2. 5. Emotional Words – (let student watch an ad showing emotional words. Then
ask some questions)
~ words that will make a consumer feel strongly about someone or something
are used.
6. Loaded Words- (let student watch an ad with loaded words. Then ask some
questions)
~ Use “loaded” words like; new, improved, best
Ask: What is the main reason of advertisement?
What do you think is the best medium to advertise a product?
Say: According to PPC Advertising
