JUST-IN-TIME
INTRODUCTION
JIT was developed at the Toyota
motor company of Japan.
JIT is a production and inventory
control system in which materials
purchased and units are produced
only as needed to meet actual
customer demand . JIT production is
based on demand.
DEFINITION
An inventory strategy companies employ to
increase efficiency and decrease waste by
receiving goods only as they are needed in the
production process, there by reducing
inventory cost
JIT inventory system focus is
having “ the right material, at the
right time, at the right place and in
the exact amount”.
JUST IN TIME WORKING
HOW JUST IN TIME WORKS
The idea behind JIT , that everything arrives at
exactly the right time , is simple enough. JIT is
a pull manufacturing process .This means that
it is customer demand that determines
production. There are various principles which
are explained as:
PRINCIPLES
• TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT
• PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
• INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
• HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT
• TQM describes a management approach to
long term success through customer
satisfaction.
• Quality needs to be the responsibility of all
employees , with zero tolerance of quality
defects.
PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
• PM means planning , organizing , directing
and controlling of production activities.
• PM deals with converting raw materials into
finished goods or products. It brings together
the 6M’s i.e. men, machine, materials ,
methods and markets to satisfy the wants of
the people.
• Production facilities and staff need to be more
flexible.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
• Effective inventory management is all about
knowing what is on hand, where it is in use , n
how much finished product results.
• Inventory level should be as close to zero as
possible.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
• HR is the process of an organization’s
workforce, or human resources. Staff should
be actively involved in improving working
practices, solving problems and improving
efficiency.

  • 2. INTRODUCTION JIT was developed at the Toyota motor company of Japan. JIT is a production and inventory control system in which materials purchased and units are produced only as needed to meet actual customer demand . JIT production is based on demand.
  • 3. DEFINITION An inventory strategy companies employ to increase efficiency and decrease waste by receiving goods only as they are needed in the production process, there by reducing inventory cost
  • 4. JIT inventory system focus is having “ the right material, at the right time, at the right place and in the exact amount”.
  • 5. JUST IN TIME WORKING HOW JUST IN TIME WORKS The idea behind JIT , that everything arrives at exactly the right time , is simple enough. JIT is a pull manufacturing process .This means that it is customer demand that determines production. There are various principles which are explained as:
  • 6. PRINCIPLES • TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT • PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT • INVENTORY MANAGEMENT • HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
  • 7. TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT • TQM describes a management approach to long term success through customer satisfaction. • Quality needs to be the responsibility of all employees , with zero tolerance of quality defects.
  • 8. PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT • PM means planning , organizing , directing and controlling of production activities. • PM deals with converting raw materials into finished goods or products. It brings together the 6M’s i.e. men, machine, materials , methods and markets to satisfy the wants of the people. • Production facilities and staff need to be more flexible.
  • 9. INVENTORY MANAGEMENT • Effective inventory management is all about knowing what is on hand, where it is in use , n how much finished product results. • Inventory level should be as close to zero as possible.
  • 10. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT • HR is the process of an organization’s workforce, or human resources. Staff should be actively involved in improving working practices, solving problems and improving efficiency.
  • 11. BENEFITS OR ADVANTAGES OF JIT • MINIMIZING WASTE • GREATER POTENTIAL OUTPUT. • GREATER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION . • AVOID OVER PRODUCTION.
  • 12. REQUIREMENTS • ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT TO THE COMPANY’S INTERNAL STRUCTURE RALATED TO JIT TECHNOLOGY. • CUSTOMER AND SUPPLIERS SUPPORT SYSTEMS. • KNOWLEDGEABLE MANAGEMENT.
