STREET BRIDGE AT RIVER DRIVE: LANDSCAPE BEAUTIFICATION
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
EXISTING ROADWAY CONDITIONS
•	 Landscape Beautification project for two pedestrian plazas on either side of the
river associated with the current SW 1st Street bridge construction.
•	 The limits of this project extend from South River Drive on the west side of the
Miami River to North River Drive on the east side.
•	 Currently, SW 1st Street Bridge is under construction. The land underneath and
beside the bridge is a staging area for this construction.
•	 All hardscape will be in place before the landscape project begins.
•	 On the west side, the bridge construction’s hardscape will connect pedestrians
from South River Drive to the Miami River and provide a potential connection
to Jose Marti Park to the south as part of the Riverwalk.
•	 On the east side, the bridge construction’s hardscape will allow North River
Drive pedestrians to access the river.

Hardscape features were included as part of the bridge project currently under construction.
Plantings that are part of this presentation enhance what will be the bridge architecture and
hardscape to improve the overall pedestrian experience.
