Brandon evaluated his production process for a podcast. In his research, he took inspiration from popular podcasts but wished he had done more specific research related to his topic of fashion/music. His planning helped discussions flow smoothly, but he didn't plan for potential issues. He managed his time well overall. Peer feedback praised the visuals, lighting, and music, but suggested adding images when mentioning people or brands and using multiple camera angles. Brandon agreed images could help but disagreed that additional camera angles were needed.
This document summarizes the production process for a podcast over several sessions. It describes recording the audio and video over multiple days using a microphone and camera. Minor issues like camera placement were addressed. The recordings were then edited, including cutting unnecessary parts and adjusting audio levels. Visual editing and effects were also added to assemble the final product. The main problem encountered was video software crashing, which was solved by reinstalling the program.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

4. Task 1: Illustrated Sector Guide [1.1]
Research a sector of the industry that you are interested in working in [e.g. film
production, TV, radio, graphic design, etc]. Use the information you find to produce an
illustrated guide to that sector. Include facts about employment, skills needed,
workforce information, etc.
Task 2: Practitioner Research File [1.1]
Within your chosen sector identify someone who is a notable practitioner and produce
a fact file about them. Research their journey to where they are now; look at
education, experience, skillset and look for insightful quotes about them and by them
to build a picture of who they are and how they work.
Task 3: Five Year Plan [1.1]
Produce a plan taking into account where you are now, what you will need to do next
and how to go about that in the next 5 years. Outline educational requirements
[college, University, courses, etc], experience you will need/would like to gain and
personal development that will be necessary to you in your future plans.
5. Task 4: Music Video Process Log [2.1, 2.2]
Complete the Music Video Process Log to evidence how you worked technically during
the Music Video production phase. Screenshot and explain how you managed to get
your production finalised.
Task 5: End of Year Review [2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2]
Produce an end of year review looking at how you have worked across the year,
considering each stage of production, which productions have worked/not worked,
how you have managed your time, what skills you have developed, how you have
worked with others and how you organised your time, resources and equipment
throughout the year. You should then produce an action plan for Year 2 selecting 5 key
areas you wish to focus on to develop further.
7. Task 1: Illustrated Sector Guide [1.1]
Research a sector of the industry that you are interested in working in [e.g.
film production, TV, radio, graphic design, etc]. Use the information you find to
produce an illustrated guide to that sector. Include facts about employment,
skills needed, workforce information, etc.
8. What we want from you is research in to the part of the media industry that you are
most interested in. That could be films, magazines, video games, television,
journalism… whatever you are interested in.
Find out about that industry. What jobs roles are available? What skills do people
need to work in that industry? What level of education is needed? How diverse, or
not, is the industry?
We want some good facts and figures that you can take and then use in your
illustrated guide.
Write down the information that you find, and keep a record of where you found it.
It’s best to get lots of research, and then pick the most useful information from that.
9. When making your illustrated guide, think carefully about all the elements
involved.
A good guide will have:
• Concise information
• Consistent image style
• Clear, consistent typography
• A coherent colour scheme
All of these elements need to work together to create your guide.
13. What we want from you is research a specific person that works in the part of the industry
you made your illustrated guide for. Focus on those involved in the production of media,
rather than people who just appear in it.
Find out as much as you can about them, to help you produce your fact file.
We want to know what their education was like, what experience they have and what skills
they have. Find quotes about them. Read about them. Get a good picture of who they are
and how they got to where they are.
Write down the information that you find, and keep a record of where you found it. It’s best
to get lots of research, and then pick the most useful information from that.
14. When making a fact file, think carefully about all the elements involved.
A good fact file will have:
• Concise and relevant information
• Quotes about the practitioner
• Information on their work and achievements
• Background on how they got in to the industry
• What insight you have taken from this that can help you in your
development?
This information can be presented with graphics, typography and a colour
scheme.
17. What are you currently doing to pursue a career in your chosen field?
I am currently doing a media course which will help me develop all or most
of the skills I need to be able to pursue a career in media, it will also look
good on my cv when applying for media related jobs, the fact I have
experience in the industry will increase my chances of employment.
18. What do you plan to do next in the pursuit of your chosen field?
I will most likely be going to university to further study and refine my skills, I
will also be shooting test music videos and test short films in my free time to
get a better understanding of shot types and camera angles, I will also gain a
lot of experience.
19. Select at least three potential University courses that would help you further your career aims. You should state
what the course is, which university it is run by, the entry requirements and why you think it would help you.
• Screen media
• Film making
• Global studies and
media
20. What type of work experience do you think you would need to help you in your future career? How might you
be able to find work experience placements? If you could pick anywhere to do work experience, where would it
be and why?
In my free time I could try and film music videos and short films to get better at
Production and have a better understanding of shot types and other things. I could
also sign up for certain online training courses to expand upon my knowledge and
gain new skills.
21. What specific skills do you need to develop? There should be a mix of industry specific skills and also personal
development points. When you identify these, come up with suggestions as to how you might make those
improvements.
The main skills I need to develop are camerawork and editing.
To do this I can simply develop those skills through experience and just keep on
editing over and over until I get better or I could watch tutorials and pick up on
certain skills from others + experience.
22. In 5 years time I will…
Hopefully have a financially stable career in film making or something similar, I enjoy
creating short films and edited clips so I think this would be the ideal place for me in
5 years.
24. Task 4: Music Video Process Log [2.1, 2.2]
Complete the Music Video Process Log to evidence how you worked technically
during the Music Video production phase. Screenshot and explain how you managed
to get your production finalised.
There is a specific pro forma that you will use for this as part of your music video
production. Ensure that is completed with your Music Video project, to complete this
task.
You should then produce an action plan for Year 2 selecting 5
key areas you wish to focus on to develop further.
Complete the following slides to review your year. You can add images if you want to.
You can get screenshots from any part of your previous projects to support your work
on this.
27. Which productions have worked/not worked?
I think the music video task worked out and was produced to a decent standard, the
camera quality maybe wasn’t the best because I had to use my phone for recording clips
but the editing and pacing of the video in contrast to the rhythm of the song was pretty
good in my opinion. I think the video game project went ok, the written work I did for it
was quite detailed and filled with information, the practical part of the game wasn’t
necessarily bad I just think it could have been better if I had managed my time a bit better.
As for the foley audio task It definitely wasn’t my best piece of work and definitely wasn’t
produced to a professional standard but I still think it had some good parts.
28. How you have managed your time?
I have managed my time through following a pattern and routine with my work, for
example I would split up the written part of an assignment and the production part, I
would assign a specific amount of time for the written work and a specific part of time
for the production. This way I would familiarise myself with doing it this way which
overall will make my time management better since I'm following a strict and consistent
routine. Also managing my time this way allows me to fully complete a specific part of
the work in an allocated amount of time before moving on to another part, doing this
makes it less stressful as sometimes before I used this way of time management, I would
forget certain things on one part and rush to try and finish it after ive already moved on
to something else.
29. What skills you have developed?
I have acquired multiple different skills that I didn’t have before and also, I have
developed upon skills I already had. For example, I now know how to properly use
premiere pro, photoshop and other multiple software's that I hadn't ever used before.
30. How you have worked with others?
I have worked with others on most of my production tasks, for example in my music
video I worked with someone else to add more people to some of the clips for variety.
On my movie poster, double page spread and the magazine cover I also used someone
else as the main subject.
31. How you organised your time, resources and equipment
throughout the year?
I have organised my time through splitting it up and allocating it to different parts of an
assignment to make sure I complete the tasks on time. In terms of resources and
equipment I have made sure they are easily accessible to me so that I can use them
whenever I need to, I think the way I organised my time and my resources has overall
improved the quality of my work.
32. Produce an action plan for Year 2 selecting 5 key areas you wish
to focus on to develop further.
Area to work on Actions to take
Editing quality Watch tutorials, maximise my time on
editing software and produce multiple
different projects and analyse them and
improve on anything I don’t like after
looking back on it afterwards.
Camerawork Use a camera more and engage in
experiments to see what works for me
and what doesn’t, this way I can identify
my preferred style of shots and improve
from there.
Audio tasks quality Study different audio editing techniques
to make any audio I might record sound
better, also I could record any audio I
might need in a suitable environment
where there isn't any other sounds that
might affect the quality.
