The document provides research on target audiences for a podcast about music and fashion. It analyzes existing podcasts, finding that most display all participants and clearly differentiate hosts from guests. Audience research found the target audience is mostly male, aged 16-19 who prefer entertainment over education and attention spans under 1 hour. Interviews supported these findings. The proposed podcast will appeal to this audience by using relevant themes, aesthetics, run times of 40-50 minutes, and ensuring all participants are visible.

The document outlines two initial ideas for an FMP project - a podcast about underground music and fashion or a short horror film. The author feels their skills in audio work and filming would be well-suited to a podcast. Influences mentioned include popular podcasts like No Jumper and The Masked Gorilla. The author hopes to gain experience in audio recording, camera work, and editing. Strengths include their passion for discussing music and fashion topics at length. Potential research areas are podcast introductions, keeping conversations engaging, and editing approaches.
Brandon evaluated his production process for a podcast. In his research, he took inspiration from popular podcasts but wished he had done more specific research related to his topic of fashion/music. His planning helped discussions flow smoothly, but he didn't plan for potential issues. He managed his time well overall. Peer feedback praised the visuals, lighting, and music, but suggested adding images when mentioning people or brands and using multiple camera angles. Brandon agreed images could help but disagreed that additional camera angles were needed.
The podcasts researched have common features like informal tones, introductions of hosts, and use of related content to boost popularity. The research will inform the author's work by including an original intro created in GarageBand to avoid copyright issues. The podcast will have a relaxed tone suitable for background listening and use related content while avoiding over-reliance on any one topic. Unlike the researched podcasts, sponsorship is unlikely. The target audience is 14-25 year olds of both genders who are fans of related content and have internet access.
The document discusses several podcasts and their production techniques. No Jumper, The Masked Gorilla, and The Cufboys Show use a simple setup with one camera and focus on interviews. Hot Ones and Theo Von's podcast use higher production value with multiple cameras and angles. All the podcasts create intimate environments and focus on guests, though Hot Ones adds a challenge element. Overall, the document recommends using multiple cameras, microphones, extra content, and a welcoming environment to engage audiences.
The peer feedback provided positive and constructive feedback on the podcast project. They commented that the sound levels were consistent throughout, audio transitions were clean, and music was not distracting. Minor suggestions included practicing pronunciation with more confidence and clarifying the purpose of longer silence periods. Overall the feedback was positive about the clear presentation style and engaging use of sound effects and music selections. Room for improvement was noted on occasional changes in audio quality and fully explaining image/visual elements.

Visual editing and effects were also added to assemble the final product. The main problem encountered was video software crashing, which was solved by reinstalling the program.
The document provides research on target audiences for a podcast. It analyzes data on podcast listeners, examining trends by age, gender, and preferences around entertainment vs education. It also summarizes 4 existing podcasts to identify common features. Interviews were conducted to understand audience preferences around runtime, number of guests, and style. The research will be used to design a podcast that appeals to a primarily male, teenage audience by including 3 guests, runtime of 40-50 minutes, contrasting personalities, and topics of interest. Visual elements and an entertaining focus will also be included.
Brandon Lambert proposes a podcast project where he and two others will discuss current fashion trends, music, and artist discussions. He has gained skills in photoshop, editing, and other areas from previous media coursework. Research will include analyzing other podcasts for inspiration on style and structure. Test recordings will help familiarize the hosts with the podcast format. The project will be evaluated based on previous visual and audio work as well as production experiments from prior units.
The document provides research on the target audience for a podcast about music and fashion. It analyzes statistics showing that the majority of podcast listeners are male, aged 16-19, and prefer entertainment over education. Existing podcasts are examined for production elements, with most displaying all participants and clearly distinguishing hosts from guests. Research findings that will be applied include showing all participants and positioning hosts separately from guests. The target audience enjoys visuals and attention spans under 1 hour, so the podcast will last 40-50 minutes. Interviews with the target audience need to be conducted to understand their preferences.
This document provides details for the pre-production of a podcast. It outlines the locations, equipment, facilities, personnel, creative planning, organizational planning and health and safety considerations. The podcast will be recorded at the creator's house in Derwenthorpe using an Audio Technica microphone. It will feature the creator and two guests discussing underground music, fashion and interviewing a music artist. The production schedule allocates 10 hours over several dates for recording and editing in Audacity and Premiere Pro. Clearances and permissions are granted for the location and actors.
The document outlines a student's idea for an audio and visual podcast. The student decides to make the podcast because they will enjoy the production process and be able to choose topics they are passionate about. They want to create a higher quality final product by having fun during production. The podcast is important to the student because they have always wanted to make one to share their interest in interviews and podcasts. Some influences for the idea include other podcasts like No Jumper and Masked Gorilla that feature interviews. The student wants their audience to feel entertained and learn something new. They plan for the tone and style of the podcast to have dark lighting and precise editing to complement conversations about underground music and fashion scenes.
This document describes two experiments conducted for a class project. In the first experiment, the student used Premiere Pro to create a rotating logo with a reflection effect. In the second experiment, the student filmed clips around campus and edited them to music in Premiere Pro. For the final product, the student plans to include a logo with reflection, an outro screen that rotates, costumes from experiment 2 to relate to podcast topics, and the dark lighting tone from experiment 2.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
Strategies for Effective Upskilling is a presentation by Chinwendu Peace in a Your Skill Boost Masterclass organisation by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan on 08th and 09th June 2024 from 1 PM to 3 PM on each day.
This presentation was provided by Steph Pollock of The American Psychological Association’s Journals Program, and Damita Snow, of The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), for the initial session of NISO's 2024 Training Series "DEIA in the Scholarly Landscape." Session One: 'Setting Expectations: a DEIA Primer,' was held June 6, 2024.

In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.

3. Target Audience Profile
• Its for people who enjoy and have a passion
for music and fashion, age range would be
around 15-27 as that is the type of people
who mainly enjoy the type of music and
fashion we will be talking about in the
podcast.
7. Existing Product 1
The podcast set doesn’t look the most
professional and appears to be slightly
messy/cluttered. I think this is done
intentionally though as the types of
people adam22 (the host of the
nojumper podcast) interviews are a
part of the underground scene, this
means that the people coming to
watch these interviews will most likely
also be a part of or be interested in
the underground scene. So, to keep
them entertained I think that its
appropriate to make the studio
maintain an underground esc
aesthetic which will intrigue the fans.
There aren't really any effects or post production used
its more of just a raw unedited/uncut interview. The
only thing that could be classified as post production is
the implementation of text on the screen at the start
and end of the interview which is used to advertise the
guests social medias. The light source of the set isn’t
really visible but it just looks like its coming from a
normal light from somewhere inside the room. In terms
of costumes and clothing the guests and podcast host
just seem to be wearing everyday clothes. Props include
microphone to record audio, microphone stands, audio
mixer, laptop and no jumper banner ornament. It makes
the audience want to watch because of the people
starring in the interview, XXXTENTACION is the main
guest on the interview and he is a very well known
artist who made a huge impact on the music industry so
the name itself is sure to bring a lot of fans to anything
he is involved with.
8. Existing Product 2
The studio is very professional looking and
everything is tidy and organized, angle is
just a medium-long shot including the 2
hosts of the podcast and the guest. There
aren’t many effects used but in post
production they implement an intro
screen to the podcast at the start and also
include a highlight reel at the start
showing some of the best bits of the
podcast to keep people excited for what's
to come. Lightning appears to be coming
from multiple sources, one from the sign
on the wall with the lights behind it and
another light source from under the desk.
Costume again is just everyday clothes, props
include tv on the wall, microphones with
microphone stands and a cufboys show sign on
the wall. It makes the audience want to watch
the podcast because of the high end production
style of the set and the editing in the podcast,
also the personality of the host is rather
entertaining and I think that would bring a lot of
people to there content. Another way the
podcast pulls in fans to watch is through the
types of people they interview (musicians with
a lot of fans)
9. Existing Product 3
The studio in this example takes on a more
professional tone and looks very organised,
the microphones are high quality and the
soundproofing foam on the walls will also
elevate the overall quality of the podcast.
The angle is positioned in a way that fully
displays everyone in the podcast which is
obviously a good thing. Not really many
effects used in the podcast but there is a
bit of post production, for example,
whenever someone is talking in the
podcast the camera angle will be focused
on them and if someone else starts talking
it will cut to them instead. The main light
Source of the set isn’t actually visible but I
think its safe to say that its just a simple light
bulb or something similar. The guests of the
podcast and the host are arranged in a way
that differentiates them, both the guests are
on the right side sat together and the host is
sat on his own on the left side, this makes it
very easy to identify who the guests are and
whose being interviewed. The guests of the
podcast are wearing clothes that fit there
music aesthetic, (underground hip hop/metal),
also one of the guests is wearing his music
groups merchandise in order to promote it.
Props include, microphones, skateboard deck
and posters. Colours are mainly black although
there are small hints of red, purple and yellow.
I think this podcast makes people want to
watch with the usage of precise camera angles
that allow the person watching to fully digest
all of the content, including the guests, host
and also the set, a clean and professionally
made piece of media is normally highly
desirable.

Product 4
The studio in this podcast is very ghetto, it isn’t actually a studio it’s a small area with a few
seats to sit on. Clearly its not as professional or high budget as most other podcast/interview
examples I have used but the set aesthetic perfectly fits and compliments the artists type of
character and music. The 2 people being interviewed are ‘XXXTENTACION’ and ‘Ski Mask The
Slump God’ and at this point in there career the music they where making was very
underground, gritty and low production, so, I think this interview set is perfect for them and
works very well. The angles used are also not the most professional as they don’t
encapsulate both of the guests and the cameraman has to keep moving from one to the
other depending on which one is speaking. There aren’t any effects used in the interview,
but, there is quite a bit of post production, for example, the questions that the host asks are
displayed in a text format on screen to make clear what the topic of conversation is at all
times. There is no man made lightning used, the light of day is the main source of light. As for
costumes the guests are wearing simple t shirts, flannel shirt, jewellery, hat, black jeans and
other accessories like rings etc. No props are visible on set, colours include green, yellow, and
a light blueish type colour.

Product 4
• I think people would want to watch this podcast/interview because it has a genuine feel to it,
the set as already established is not very professional or high budget, in fact it’s a small
garden area with no light source apart from the sun, the camera positioning and editing is
also very ghetto and non professional. This makes it easier to connect and relate to the artists
being interviewed which for a lot of people in the underground scene is a must have in order
for them to enjoy a persons music.
Pre production- questions being
displayed in text format.
12. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
13. Research Analysis
• One common feature that all of the research products (apart from the last one)
have in common is the display of every member in the interview at all times,
including the host and the guests, 3 out of 4 of the products I used for research
do this. I think they do this so the person watching can fully understand the
opinions and statements made by everyone included, facial expressions and body
language can highly alter the way someone perceives what someone may be
saying, so making it so the guests are fully visible also makes the viewer fully able
to understand the topics of conversation. This will make the entire piece of
media more desirable. Another common feature amongst the research products
is the clear differentiation of guests and hosts. In every research product the
host/hosts are sat apart from the guests, for example, across the table or not in
shot at all. This feature is most likely used to make consuming the podcast as
easy and efficient as possible, some people who are new to a certain podcast
may not be aware of who is being interviewed and who is doing the interviewing,
So by establishing who is who from the start based on position and introduction
of the people on set is a good way to inform the viewer.
14. Research analysis 2
• In terms of what aspects of the research I will include in my
own piece of work, I will definitely be using the positioning of
the cast where the host and guests are apart as I think its
easier for the viewer to consume the product this way. I will
also be displaying all of the people on set at all times so that I
can fully capture the atmosphere and emotions being
presented in conversation.
16. Audience research
• Observation: More male people watch podcasts
• What this says about my audience: The majority are male
• How will your product appeal to this audience: It will
display certain themes and aesthetics that are normally
enjoyed more by males rather than females.
17. Audience research
• Observation: more people aged 16-19 watch podcasts
• What this says about my audience: More people aged 16-19 answered the
survey
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I will be using themes and
new trends that appeal to younger people, younger people are on the internet and are
more aware of current day aesthetics/trends so using them will appeal to them more
than older people aged 20 and up.
18. Audience research
• Observation: My audience enjoy being entertained rather than educated
• What this says about my audience: The majority like entertainment
podcasts
• How will your product appeal to this audience: I will create a podcast that I think is
entertaining in order to appeal to the audience who quite clearly like entertainment type podcasts
based on the statistics/
19. Audience research
• Observation: Peoples attention spans are below 1 hour +
• What this says about my audience: More people enjoy
podcasts with a run time of 40-50 minutes
• How will your product appeal to this audience:I will make
the podcasts run time between 40-50 minutes
20. Audience research
• Observation: My audience finds visuals appealing
• What this says about my audience: They prefer
visuals implemented into a podcast.
• How will your product appeal to this audience:
