Underage Drinking
Underage Drinking Introduction Underage drinking has long been, and continues to be, a
serious public health concern. Teen alcohol use kills more than 4700 people each year and high
school students who use alcohol or other drugs are five times more likely to drop out of school
(MADD, 2014) than kids who do not. There have been years of underage drinking prevention
programs to curtail the use of alcohol by those under 21 years of age and yet alcohol is the most
widely used drug by adolescents in the United States (Wagoner et al. 2012). Underage drinking is
a real problem in all 50 states, even though there are laws in place to prohibit anyone under 21
years of age from drinking alcohol. Parental involvement might be the... Show more content on

2012). Because of the growing issue of parents supplying alcohol to minors, 35 of 50 states
currently have Social Host laws in effect. This means if an adult is supplying minors with
alcohol in their home, they can be arrested and charged. These laws are an attempt to decrease
the number of adults hosting underage parties and supplying alcohol to minors (Wagoner et al.
2012). In addition to social host laws, laws concerning restricted licenses for teens and limiting
teen driving at night seem to have had an impact on underage drinking. Additionally, license
suspension laws for alcohol violations are making kids think twice before they consume alcohol
and drive (Hingson, 2014). Yet underage drinking remains a nationwide concern and must
continue to be addressed. Methodology This study will use cluster sampling to get a good base of
individuals and not just those from one area of a city or country. We will use five regions,
Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Northwest and Southwest. We will contract with 30 parents in each
region (150 total) who have children ages nine to nineteen, and are willing to actively participate in
a longitudinal study. The purpose of the study will be explained to everyone in a question and
answer meeting. Those who

I Volunteer Full Time For A Non Profit Animal Rescue Group
I volunteer full time for a non profit animal rescue group called Dogs 2nd Chance. This
organization established in 2007 has fostered and found new homes for over 500 dogs locally, up
the East Coast and in the New England area. Dogs fostered in our homes are rejected family pets
found abandoned on the streets, abused and left to fend for its self. We provide medical treatment,
rehabilitation, and find loving homes for each rescued animal. While working with the rescue
group I have successfully helped manage multiple events through crowdfunding, silent auctions, and
community events, so far this year we ve risen over $10,000 for the cause.
I retired from the U.S. Navy in 2005 after serving 20 years. While working with the U.S Navy, I

Online Banking And Its Impact On The United States
Introduction:
Since the 1980 s, online banking has made the lives of everyday people more convenient. With the
new innovations and creations to computers, online banking has grown to become the most used
form of banking in the US (5). From the first ATM to mobile banking technology has helped shape
One of the first computerized innovations to online banking, the credit card, revolutionized how
cash was money was used in society.
1950 1960 s:
During the 1950 a man named Frank X. McNamara, was sitting at dinner when he realized he had
left the house without cash. After having to call his wife to bring him some, he vowed to create
something to solve this problem. That same year McNamara and his friends started the first credit

1970 s 1980 s:
About 20 years later in 1981, a few New York City banks including, Citibank and Chase Manhattan,
introduced the first form of online banking to the US. The first service allowed customers to send
transfers and bills by connecting the TV set and telephone line (7). While this is different than what
we think of as traditional online banking, this was the cornerstone to what online banking has
become today.
1990 1995:
After a long absence of innovations to online banking, Stanford Credit Union was the first financial
institution to offer online banking to all of its customers in 1994(7). This was important for online
banking because it set a standard that helped get more financial institutions on board with online
banking. That same year, online banking was built into Microsoft s money personal finance sloppy
disc software. Over 100,000 began accessing online banking using this device (5).
1996 2000:
By the mid 1990 s most of the major banks now offered online Bill Pay to all of its customers for a
small monthly fee (6). By this time, online banking has begun to grow rapidly, along with the
concerns for customer security. Like with many changing technologies, many customers of online
banking become skeptical of how well the technology could protect them. With growing concerns
from customers, banks began increasing their security with online accounts (7).
2001 2005:
In 2001, it was reported that eight US banks now have at least one

Family Relationships, Individual Identity And The American...
Family relationships, individual identity and the American dream are all seen throughout this
story. Blanche DuBois and her sister Stella Kowalski both desire to be happily married. They will
go to great lengths to get and to keep the men in their lives. The sisters want the best for each
other, however they do not always agree with what that may be. Family is important but which
family member will prove to be more important?
The setting takes place in New Orleans. The small studio apartment and the continuous noise from
the streets below give way for an exposed home. The Kowalski s had a tumultuous marriage and it
is only hindered by the arrival of Blanche DuBois.
Blanche is a fragile woman who has experienced a great deal of despair. She has lost her husband
to suicide many years ago and recently lost her family home. After experiencing such devastating
losses she gains many traits such as poor self esteem, sexual addiction and a drinking problem.
She desperately tries to mask her flaws with cheap, flashy clothes and an over confident attitude.
She believes these attributes will attract gentlemen suitors and the attention of men is how
Blanche values her self worth. By getting married she hopes to overcome her problems and
considers any gentleman suitor for the job. Blanche sets her sights on Harold Mitch Mitchell. He
is far from the ideal man in which she would like to marry, however she is desperate.
Mitch is very much a gentleman in every sense and this is seen

The Culture Of North Korea
Culture of North Korea A particular society that has its own beliefs and ways of life define
Culture. Major characteristics that define culture are Learned Behavior, Abstract, Products of
Behavior, Attitudes, and Values Knowledge. We may define culture as the total of human
achievements or the way of life of the people in a certain geographical area. The Peoples Republic
of North Koreais a great example of this definition. The Democratic People s Republic of Korea is
a country in East Asia located in the Northern part of the Korean Peninsula. North Korea is known
for its infamous Communist beliefs and portrayed bully mentality type of government. However
this great nation has way more history and authenticity as a culture that helped shape the world s
history.
Terrain
The Democratic People s Republic of Korea is a mountainous region with a very cold climate.
However, it does experience all four seasons. The western coastal plain surrounding the capital
Pyongyang is the largest area of flat terrain. The eastern region is mainly mountainous having
rivers, valleys, and high plateaus scattered throughout. Paektu sam is the highest elevation located
in North Korea. North Korea also shares a land border with China to the north, along the border
runs the Tumen River. A small section of this river also forms its border with Russia. The most
popular border shared is the Korean Demilitarized Zone. Which mark the boundaries of North and
South Korea as a result of World War II.

Theme Of Gender In Othello
In creating our collage, we wanted to convey one of the central themes in Othello, and that is
one of female inferiority. While we don t know if Shakespeare was either mocking or reflecting
the society he was living in, the theme is presented as one that was important to the lives of
Othello and his men. We touched on many different aspects of how women were projected in the
book, as well as throughout different time periods in our physical representation of the theme.
With the use of color, words, and images we collectively explicated how both of us interpreted the
book and how the class interpreted our theme, as discussed in class. Our collage had many graphic
including one of a sculpture of a man and womanboth naked and intertwined, cut outs from various
magazines dealing with topics ranging from women s menstrual cycles and sanitary products, to...

While there is an uprising of feminism in our generation, there is still a huge ignorance of central
issues in the ways women are portrayed. Just as the characters of Desdemona and Emilia
represented the two extremes of the female representation in Othello, our collage and its reactions
are the three ideas we see in today s society: the complete awareness of issues, the negation of
action on them, and the ignorance of them. While the world we live in recognizes these issues,
there is little action to improve the negative aspects of them. These women could have taken down
the poster, or reacted negatively to it, but instead they eventually just left it how it was. While this
is a harsh reality, it is still something all women must face every day; this could explain the
mildness of their reactions. The fact that these reactions were so mild completely reflects the issues
in today s society, and shows just how little of a difference there between Othello and modern

Jennifer Hale
I chose to look at a strike taking place in the video game industry. Many voice actors feel that
they are not being paid enough for their services to the game making companies that they end up
working for. Jennifer Hale has played major roles in several extremely successful video game
titles such as the Halo, Mass Effect, and Bioshock series. She is part of a group known as the
Screen Actors Guild American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, also known as SAG
AFTRA. This is the group that has declared a strike against eleven different video game
publishers after nineteen months of failed negotiations regarding compensation. As mentioned
above, the problem at hand has to do with actors under the SAG AFTRA group and the large
video game producers they contract with. The workers are worried not just about compensation
for their work, but also transparency upon hiring and safety concerns on set. When asked about
the situation Hale is quoted saying I have friends who have had to have surgery because of the
vocal stress they incurred in the session and they ve been out of work for months. Currently, the
actors are being paid around $800 for a four hour vocal session and are pushing for secondary
compensation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main thing that needs to be looked at is the amount that these voice actors are being paid for
their four hours of service. Both sides also need to determine how many games are actually
going to reach the proposed two million copies sold threshold. Another criteria factor is how
many actors actually injure themselves while voice acting. I understand four hours is a long time
to be making noises, yelling, screaming, and talking but both sides need to assess how much
injury actually happens. You also need to compare what these people are being paid to what
everyone else that helps to make the video game and see if it makes relative

How Did Gough Whitlam Change Australia
Edward Gough Whitlam well known as Gough Whitlam, he was an Australian politician and the
21st Prime Minister of Australia, he served from 5th December 1972 to 11th November 1975. He
bought Labor to power for the first time in 23 years. He was a wonderful man who accomplished
many things during his time as Prime Minister, but he was, as well the only Prime Minister to be
fired by the governor general in all of Australian history. Gough Whitlam bought major changes
across the fields of health, Indigenous rights, immigration, education, foreign affairs and industrial
relations. He brought back all Australian troops from Vietnam, cut the White Australia Policy and
increased funding for the arts. Whitlam also introduced free university education... Show more

It was in this area that some of the Whitlam Government s most iconic reforms were proposed,
including the abolition of university fees, the awarding of state aid to independent schools, and
the origination of the Schools Commission. Equality of access to education was the initial
principle behind each of these measures. In his 1969 campaign launch Whitlam argued When
government makes opportunities for any of the citizens, it makes them for all the citizens. We
are all diminished as citizens when any of us are poor. Poverty is a national waste as well as
individual waste. We are all diminished when any of us are denied proper education. The nation is
the poorer a poorer economy, a poorer civilization, because of this human and national waste .
(Whitlam s 1969 Election Policy Speech October 1, 1969). No other Prime Minister has ever been
so memorable. No other government could change a country so much in such a short time. And not
Australian government has made such an impact to the country. Australia became another country
after Whitlam, a young nation that had left home to find its own identity. Australia was no longer a
country full of working people, rapid economic growth or low inflation. Women did no longer have
to stay at home; mothers no longer have to get married. Government is big, deficit prone and

The Outsourcing of American Jobs Essay
The Outsourcing of American Jobs
The exporting of American jobs is an issue that is important and will become increasingly so as
more and more white collar jobs are shipped overseas. American companies in the past few decades
have been sending American jobs overseas paying residents of other countries pennies on the dollar
what they had paid American workers to do. This saves the companies millions of dollars on labor
costs but costs Americans precious jobs.
As the problem of job outsourcing becomes more of an issue in politics, elected officials like the
President and Congress will no longer be able to ignore the dilemma. The war in Iraq has been at the
forefront of the presidential race but the importance of outsourcing ... Show more content on

Since outsourcing has begun effecting both party lines, Republican and Democrat officials will
be interested because members of congress are self interested. Congressmen who continue to
evade the issue and avoid taking a strong stance on this issue will lose votes when it comes to
election time and that doesn t serve in the best interest for any politician. The other big player in
this issue is big business. As labor is offered at cheaper rates overseas, it is very tempting for
businesses to take advantage of that resource. Saving money is a great way to raise profits and
stock values of companies. This brings up the hardest part of this issue. Americans own stock in
the big companies that outsource jobs, if the company does well then the stock does well and it
helps the investor. The average family makes between 33 to 45 thousand dollars a year. People
in this bracket generally rely on their job to provide income and security for their family, not the
value of stock. The middle class is taking the biggest hit and has the most to loose from
outsourcing. The middle class has traditionally been the backbone of America ever since WWII. It
has always been in any candidate s best interest to appeal to this group of voters.
There are many things on the American political agenda that

Intro to System Analysis and Design
Introduction to System Analysis and Design 1. INTRODUCTION Systems are created to solve
problems. One can think of the systems approach as an organized way of dealing with a problem. In
this dynamic world, the subject System Analysis and Design, mainly deals with the software
development activities. 2. Defining Your System A collection of components that work together to
realize some objective forms a system. Basically there are three major components in every system,
namely input, processing and output. [pic] In your system define the different components that are
connected to each other and how they are interdependent. Remember the objective of the system

System Analysis also includes sub dividing of complex process involving the entire system,
identification of data store and manual processes. The main points you are to discuss in your
papers regarding system analysis are: Specification of what the new system is to accomplish based
on the user requirements. Functional hierarchy showing the functions to be performed by the new
system and their relationship with each other. Function network which are similar to function
hierarchy but they highlight those functions which are common to more than one procedure. List
of attributes of the entities these are the data items which need to be held about each entity
(record) (d) System Design Based on the user requirements and the detailed analysis of a new
system, the new system must be designed. This is the phase of system designing. It is a most
crucial phase in the development of a system. Normally, the design proceeds in two stages:
preliminary or general design Structure or detailed design Preliminary or general design: In the
preliminary or general design, the features of the new system are specified. The costs of
implementing these features and the benefits to be derived are estimated. If the project is still

Police Suspicion Essay
Many things go into making a decision for a police officer on a daily basis. Assessing a threat is
an activity that any police officer must do in order to better stay safe within the community and
to live long enough to see retirement. There are obvious and easy to pick out things which give
red flags to an officer such as weapons, disregard for the safety of yourself or others, and clear
intent to harm the officer. Other, less obvious factors, also must come into play. The factor which
we are going to look at in this paper is age. During February of 2006, five researchers observed
policeofficers in Savannah Georgia for 132 8 hour shifts. After each stop police officers would
debrief the researchers and talk about how and why a character was deemed as raising suspicion.
Over the course of this research, there were 174 documented cases of suspects raising suspicion.
In order to form suspicion officers must have, at any time, became doubting, distrustful or
otherwise troubled or concerned about an individual. Suspicion arose in a majority of cases due to
the abnormal behavior of the individual(s) that seemed to pique the interest of the officer. Although
the end result of the suspicion did not always end up in a stop of an individual or vehicle. In some
cases, the officers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

correlation between age and police suspicion at all.

not become suspicion of an individual due to age. The next logical step is to try and understand
why juveniles are treated differently and how this affects what the ultimate outcome of what is

Iluvatar Research Paper
The manifestation of evil in Middle Earth is evident in many of the themes that curse throughout its
history. Envy, greed, and revenge are at the root of the many evils that befell the inhabitants of
Arda. When analyzing said themes in an attempt to better understand Middle Earth and its
Peoples, it becomes apparent that evil shows itself in many ways and has many faces.
The most glaring and obvious example of how evil manifests itself in the creation of the world is
through Melkor. Beginning with the music of the Ainur and the themes that Iluvatar presents,
Melkor first brings about discord in the creation of the world by greedily seeking to increase his
power through the manipulation of the music, as well as, the other Ainur (The Silmarillion, ... Show

Melkor first gave evil a voice through the envy he had for Iluvatars powers (p.4), for the bliss of
the Valar and the beauty of the world and the choices he made to stray from Iluvatars light (The
Silmarillion, p.11). The envy that festered within him gave way to something very dark and
terrible and led to the first battle between the Valar and Melkor where all the light and beauty the
Valar had worked so diligently to create was destroyed (The Silmarillion, p.12). The destruction
of all things held dear by the Valar, and the darkness that followed did not quell Melkor s envy
and greed and instead helped to fuel and strengthen his resolve. Furthermore, evil once again
manifested itself through this envy and greed regarding Melkor s desire for the Imperishable
Flame that he alone could not posses (The Silmarillion, p.23). Envy and greed, in the early days,
were often the vessels in which evil worked, and Melkor and his discontent provided the perfect
opportunity for this evil to have a

Suleyman s interest in Iran developed in 1528 when the governor of Baghdad offered the city to the

Brainy Quote, n.d. Web. 05 Oct.2012.) This persistent feelingof dissatisfaction is suggested in

This suggests that Hank s parents, like many people in modern society, will not find happiness
because they live with insatiable desires and therefore will not get the feeling of satisfaction in
their lives. The characterization of Hank himself also shows how people in the contemporary
society always want more. For example, when Hank woke up from his dream about his socks,
he realized that nothing good or special or wonderful has happened to him. (7) This shows that
Frank is idealistic and has superfluous expectations in life. Also, Hank has a nice girlfriend who
cares about him and loves him, but he still thinks about how he would leave her even though
there are no reasons for him to do so. When his girlfriend asks him if he was happy, he says,
Sometimes I am. Mostly, I guess I just feel like I can t be really happy. Just missing something
important. (7) Another passage would be when his girlfriend asked him if he likes her, he
answered: sometimes I like you and maybe I think I even love you a little. And sometimes I hate
you. (7) We can see that Hank is uncertain about his feelings for his girlfriend and if she is the
person that he wants to be with. Those are typical examples of a person who is not sure about
what he wants and believes that there is always something better waiting for him. The thing that is
missing for Hank is simply appreciating what he already possesses. From this reasoning, it is clear

Why Was Vladimir Lenin And The Bolshevik Revolution Impact...
Vladimir Lenin Vladimir Lenin and the Bolshevik Revolution impacted the Romanov dynasty in
countless ways. Lenin was physically incapable of leading the masses already controlled by a
powerful monarch. Therefore, when the war led to Nicholas II stepping down from his throne,
Lenin was finally given a shot at controlling Russia. Hence, the Russo Japanese war was
incredibly significant to Lenin because it was the beginning of his soon to be domination of
Russia. This was a significant event in Lenin s history because it showed how Russia began to fall
and Lenin began gaining supporters. Bloody Sunday was also a major event for the Romanov
Family because this was when his people turned against him and started rebelling, leading up to his
murder. Lenin an inspirational leader of both Russia and the BolshevikParty, was in control of
countless aspects of Russia and was prominent political figure.
Russo Japanese War The Russo Japanese War lasted from 1904 until 1905, beginning with the
Japanese initiating a surprise ambush on the Russians. This led to Nicholas II and his people
growing apart (Trueman, 2016, para. 2). Many of his people were living in poverty and were
anything but prepared to fight. Unfortunately, old men and young children were recruited to fight
in the front line. Soon, the people realized how little power they had and the country began to

Native American Arts
Native Americans treasure one thing in their culture the most; the arts. Native American art is
the works created by the natives of North America. Art can come in many forms, but are most
present in the visual arts and melodic arts, which can then fall under several categories. Art is
considered a symbol of Native American heritage and the overall culture of world art. It has
been a major part of their lives for thousands of years. The Native American arts serve the
purpose of self expression, which plays an extensive role in everyday Native American life.
Native American art history has been developing for over thousands of years. The arts have a
vast deep connection with spirituality and the Earth. It s a way of life for almost all Native
Americans and can be traced back to cave paintings and stonework. Each piece of art is designed
to reveal the complexity of the diverse tribes. One of the most popular forms of art is jewelry; it
s heavy in symbolism which makes is more easily accepted. Native Americans are better known
for their skills in carving intricate patterns and designs. Often, their inspiration will actually come
from the natural world surrounding them. The arts, to the Native Americans, hold more
symbolism to them than a lot of the other aspects their culture holds and is a part of. Native
American art is created as symbols such as bears, walruses, eagles, and people. Basket and blanket
weaving are a very popular form of art, and the Navajo tribe is most

The Death Of The United States
On February 26, at 7:11 pm it was a rainy night in Sanford, Florida when a neighborhood
watchman, 28 year old mixed Hispanic George Zimmerman, calls 911 to report a suspicious
person. This guy looks like he s up to no good, or he s on drugs or something. It s raining and he s
just walking around, looking about (Genius). That suspicious person was 17 year old African
AmericanTrayvon Martin returning home after stopping by a local convenience store to purchase,
the now infamous, Arizona Ice tea and Skittles. When the 911 dispatcher asked Zimmerman if he
was following Martin he replied yeah. The dispatcher in return said, Okay, we don t need you to do
that (Chicago Tribune). That call would last four minutes.
Soon afterwards, the police received more calls from the neighborhood reporting, at first, two men
in a physical altercation but eventually a gunshot. When officers arrived at the scene they
encountered George Zimmerman who was bleeding from mild head injuries and the lifeless body
of Trayvon Martin, having been shot by Zimmerman. Zimmerman acknowledges that he shot
Martin, claiming it was in self defense (CNN). Sanford police took Zimmerman into custody,
questioned him for hours and eventually released him. According to Sanford police, Zimmerman
alleged that he killed Martin in self defense so he was neither arrested or given any sort drug
/alcohol test (MTV).
When George Zimmerman was found not guilty by a jury of his peers, many were outraged by the
verdict.

Psychology Of Groups
The thought of sitting in a room filled with people who have similar interests and enjoy each other
s company seems a lot better than being alone, and not being included in the cluster of people.
There are many reasons why people may want to join groups and Bill Wasik, who writes
My Crowd Experiment: The Mob Experiment talks about some of the reasons why it seems
interesting to join one. People may want to join groups because they will not be bored, it can allow
someone to accomplish many things and feel good, and they can gain friends.
By joining a group, people can reduce the chances of being bored. It allows them to engage in
activities they like or even have new experiences. Wasik talks about how he started the Mob

being a part of a successful project and it makes them feel good when a goal is achieved.
They also may join to show off accomplishments they may have made and to feel they feel they

The Extinction of Pleistocene Mammals Essay
During the late Pleistocene, a mystery occurred in which large mammals went extinct in North
America while they survived in other parts of the world. Scientists studying the late Pleistocene
extinction provided a plethora of explanations, including overkill by humans, extraterrestrial events,
and climate changes (Faith and Surovell, 2009). However, there was no unified explanation that
they all agreed upon. Taking note of this, J. Tyler Faith and Todd A. Surovell conducted tests to
discover whether the extinction was a single event or a long term process. Their findings were
important to other scientists in the same field, as they served as a guideline for their explanations
of catalysts of the extinction.
Scientists in this field have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some scientists have attributed the extinction to an extraterrestrial event. In 2009, another group of
scientists found nanodiamonds in the sediment layer dating back to the Younger Dryas a period of
glacial dewarming. Because these nanodiamonds needed conditions similar to that of cosmic
impacts to form, they concluded that a large group of comets might have impacted the Earth,
causing the Pleistocene extinction (Kennett et. al, 2009). Although the research done on late
Pleistocene extinctions was extensive, the conclusions for these explanatory models contradicted
one another.
Amid these conclusions, Faith and Surovell derived their question from the fact that one cannot
develop explanations for this phenomenon without knowing whether the extinction was a long term
process or a single event. They hypothesized that the extinction during the North American late
Pleistocene was a single event that occurred between 12,000 and 10,000 radiocarbon years B.P.
(Faith and Surovell, 2009).
In order to test their hypothesis, they created a statistical test. The statistical test used data of the
occurrences of the fossils of extinct Pleistocene mammals in layers of rock and terminal
Pleistocene radiocarbon dates for a given taxon, or taxon dates. These dates were all rated as
reliable or of intermediate reliability. They found a pattern in the data specific to North American
Pleistocene mammals: the last

A Dystopian
On top of chasing an incredibly fragmented and disparate storyline, Barthelme incorporates or
rather alludes to at least at one point the work of William Butler Yeats. In particular, Barthelme
alludes to Yeats poem The Second Coming , a dystopian work, much ahead of its time. Barthelme
writes, The center will not hold if it has been spot welded by an operator... (Barthelme 2817),
alluding to Yeats line Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; . Yeats published The Second
Coming shortly after the end of WWI, perhaps as a statement that the ending of that war harkened
a frightening new age. On top of Yeats advancing a dystopian and alienating agenda in The Second
Coming , this work was the one of the first to produce a basic manifesto

Discrimination Is A Problem Since The Beginning Of Time
Discrimination has been a problem since the beginning of time. Discrimination is mentioned in
many pieces of classical literature such as Shakespeare s Othello. In this classical play the main
character Othello is never truly accepted into the Venetian society because he is a Moor from
Northern Africa. His skin color caused people to view him differently and also presented
problems when he tried to find a wife. After he eventually found and married Desdemona her
father Brabantio still did not approve of him; he said She, in spite of nature, Of years, of
country, credit, everything, To fall in love with what she feared to look on! It is a judgment
maimed and most imperfect That will confess perfection so could err Against all rules of nature
(Act I, Scene 3). Brabantio saw this love as unnatural because he believes Desdemona would never
fall in love with a black man who she was afraid to look upon. Before Othellomarried Desdemona
Brabantio saw him as an honorable leader and great man, but after their marriage he accuses him of
black magic and urges their marriage to be annulled by the Duke. This discriminationled to Othello
s doubt and self conscience attitude which, ultimately leads to his demise at the end of the play.
Discrimination continues to exist today as it did 400 years ago in Shakespeare s time. Today
people are still discriminated against and persecuted because of their raceor their religious views.
The problem of racial discrimination was increasingly

Although the young children cannot read, at least the carer is warned. This will allow them to
take special care with their hot food and drinks when they have children with them. Keeping hot
drinks and food out of the reach of young children will also minimise the risk of them getting
burnt, as said by North Bristol NHS trust. They also recommend that hot drinks should not be
held at the same time as holding another child. Another adjustment they could make could be to
put hot drinks into a special cup with a lid, that when tipped over does not spill and hot food
could be left to cool for a few minutes before being served, meaning that it is not piping hot. As
long as the parents and guardians are aware of the dangers associated with hot food and drinks,
then this hazard shouldn t hold a very high likelihood. My reasoning for suggesting this is that it
will reduce the likelihood of a child or an individual getting burnt if the drink falls as the lid will
stop the drink from spilling. The existing controls that are in place in the food court in the mall
are signs warning of hot surfaces and although most adults should know that food will be served
hot, I still believe signs for hot food should be shown. I would recommend this because it will
remind the adults that the food may burn and this will in turn make them think more before giving
the child the hot food. To get to the higher floors in the mall there are stairs, lifts or

powerful. In his speech president Kennedy claims that everyone needs to come together and
solve the world problems peacefully, he uses emotional appeal, strong word choice, and ethical
appeal to support his claim. To begin with, JFK effectively uses emotional appeal to support his
claim that everybody needs to together and solve problems peacefully. To start, Kennedy says,
we dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. (page 6) This is effective
because JFK is saying that we were the first ones to establish freedom from england. This is
emotional because without us most countries wouldn t have been determined enough to obtain

sister republics south of the border we offer a special pledge: TO convert our good words, into

The Causes And Effects Of Stress In College Students
Over the last few years, stress levels have climbed 30 percent amongst all college aged students
(Feldt, 2008). Stress is defined as A state of psychological and psychological arousal that results
when outside demands surpass a person s abilities (Zajacova, Lynch, Espenshade, 2005). The
increased pattern of stressis due to more college students determining their success based upon
materialistic measures and thinking futuristically (Zajacova et al., 2005). Unfortunately, a rise in
stress can have many adverse health outcomes for most people. Stress suppresses the immune
system, making it more difficult for your body to fight off viruses that lead to a variety of
illnesses (Straub, 2014). That being said, My Real Age Test showed my inability to manage my
stress was a large concern and will be the focus of my intervention (Sharecare, 2015).
Identifying with having a Type A personality has lead me to be driven but constantly stressed to

Traditional Times Vs Modern Times
The selective students came from Elective class (Drama) with diverse backgrounds and we were
brought together to perform Stations of the Cross , performance presenting the Traditional times
Vs Modern times to the school audience. The casting for the drama was open to participants to
select. The whole casting process itself was very challenging and fun. In the beginning, I found it
was necessary to engage the participant s focus on the process rather than the outcome and hence
specific requirements for the drama were not decided upfront. Each of us was given the
opportunity to select a station for the drama and to come up with scripts for both modern and
tradition times. We came up with the drama direction and communicated to the casts taking into
considering the feelings, artistic expressions and deep relationships including the stage set up
and color/costumes, etc. The challenges my group and I faced was towards the group dynamics
/culture, focus and drama management. Though we were guided by Ms. Moeser, there was no
leader appointed to run the show within the group. Clear objectives and task structure (clear
divisions of tasks) were not set in advance. Due to lack of drama management (as it was a mini
project), everybody was involved in everything and this lead to lack of coordination and distraction
from the goal that we wanted to achieve. This also lead to time loss, low output and concentration.

Animals Of All Kinds Have Been Known For Their Positive...
Animals of all kinds have been known for their positive impact on humans. Animal assisted Therapy
(AAT) was first incorporated into the mental health institutions in the late eighteenth century to help
increase socializations among the patients. As of today, a number of AAT programs have mainly
targeted populations of patients with PTSD or those who have experienced trauma. PTSD (post
traumatic stress disorder) is classified as an anxiety disordercharacterized by the common symptoms
avoidance, intrusion, alterations in mood and cognition, and alterations in arousal and reactivity (O
Haire, M.E,. Guerin, N.A., Kirkham, A.C., 2015). The presence of an animal is thought to
encourage a safe and open environment, elicit positive emotion and warmth, increase socializations,
and increase the release of oxytocin, which aids in the relaxation process. Perhaps that s why PTSD
or trauma patients respond so well when AAT is included in treatment. AAT is not a therapy
used
alone, but rather coupled with other treatment to enhance the therapy process. (Dietz, T. J., Davis.,
Pennings, J. 2012).
PICO Statement My PICO statement is in patients with PTSD or traumatic experiences, what is the
effect of animal assisted therapy compared to no animal assisted therapy on decreasing traumatic
symptoms? Therapy is the type of PICO question. Based on my PICO statement the best type of
evidence to use for this particular question would be randomized or non randomized controlled
trials.

Reflection Of The Journal Of Active Listening With My Parents
Active Listening Journal I have been evaluating conversations I have had over the past few days
to find good candidates to record in this journal. The first conversation which has been relevant to
write about is one that I had on FaceTime with my parents. We had the opportunity to talk for
almost half an hour on Sunday afternoon. We talked about many different things, including how
our days were, what the weather is like back home and up here, how my brothers are doing, how
our dogs are doing, and other random things that popped into our minds as we just enjoyed talking
to one another. I have taken it upon myself to call them every night, even if it is just to talk for a
few minutes. During this particular conversation, I noticed two things that I did particularly well
while practicing active listening with my parents. First off, I noticed that I reflected very well in the
conversation. One example stands out among the others, my dad was telling of how he had
experienced trouble with one of our tractors earlier that day. To reflect on that topic, I
commented It sounds to me like that break is going to end up being quite a costly malfunction!
Along with reflection, I also noticed that I sufficiently used the component of sharing. While
having a conversation with mom about one of our dogs, I respectfully shared my own view on
the decision of whether or not to breed her, even though it differed from her and dad s. They
were actually impressed by the argument I put forward and we now are going to have two litters
of puppies instead of just one! By effectively using these attributes of an active listener, I feel that
my conversation with my parents was greatly enhanced compared to some of the past times we
have talked. I also noticed a couple of active listener traits that needed improvement. Surprisingly, I
was not paying full attention to my parents during part of the call. I was Face Timing them on my
computer while trying to multitask and complete a survey for another class at the same time during
our conversation. I became so invested in the survey that my dad actually stopped talking to regain
my attention. To prevent this situation, I will simply maximize the FaceTime app to eliminate
distractions.

Hope In Elie Wiesel s Night
This section of the book proved to be one of the most suspenseful and thrilling parts of Nyiszli s
nightmare. I didn t expect him to survive, but at the same time, how would he write this book? I

V for Vendetta is a film that contains strong character types but diverts from the original graphic
novel; however, it still presents a powerful message about government. Strong characters can
either make or break a movie. V for Vendetta is a movie that isn t short of strong character types.
V s character type is a complex one to say the least. He is a terrorist, anarchist, philosopher and a
lover of freedom and chaos. At first people might think how the protagonist of a movie can be a
terrorist and still be good, but this factor is what sets V apart from traditional heroes. It is the
fact that the world he lives in is so corrupt and power hungry that he can destroy building and still
be considered a hero. V is the epitome of the phrase one man s terrorist is another man s freedom
fighter . The character of Evey is equally complex. In the beginning of the movie Evey is a young,
shy girl who, through a series of events, lives with V and starts to understand his ideologies, and his
romance with anarchy. Evey represents the ignorance in everyone. She never acknowledges, before
meeting V, that there isn t anything wrong with the government she lives under. Only through
understanding and intimidation does she truly realize what it s like to live without fear. Secondary
characters types are equally important. V s driving force throughout the whole movie is his
vendetta against certain party leaders

Equity Plays An Important Role For The Common Law
Equity plays an important role in the common law which will be explained in this essay. It s
foundational principles derive from philosophy and ethics as well as from political and religious
background. To understand specific nature and extent it operates in the modern world it would be
necessary to look how it developed over the centuries in the UK.
In the 13th century s England, the common law courts operated through the Court of Common
Pleas and the King s Bench and could only offer a limited range of remedies, predominantly
monetary damages, becoming inflexible and very strict. This was due to a closed categories of
available writs, therefore many judgments were regarded as unfair. As a result people became
dissatisfied with the system and started petitioning the king for a more suitable remedies. With
increasing number of petitions the king began to delegate the function of resolving such petitions
to the Chancellor. The chancellors were often clergymen, king s confessors and keepers of the king
s conscience, which shaped the character of equity. They developed new, more appropriate
remedies for the cases based on individual justice. However, each chancellor had different
understanding of fairness giving an overall impression of uncertainty and inconsistency in law.
With even more increase of petitions, new court has been created known as the Court of Chancery.
With the time, the growing of equity started to create conflicts with common law system, as
individuals relied

  • 2. Underage Drinking Underage Drinking Introduction Underage drinking has long been, and continues to be, a serious public health concern. Teen alcohol use kills more than 4700 people each year and high school students who use alcohol or other drugs are five times more likely to drop out of school (MADD, 2014) than kids who do not. There have been years of underage drinking prevention programs to curtail the use of alcohol by those under 21 years of age and yet alcohol is the most widely used drug by adolescents in the United States (Wagoner et al. 2012). Underage drinking is a real problem in all 50 states, even though there are laws in place to prohibit anyone under 21 years of age from drinking alcohol. Parental involvement might be the... This means if an adult is supplying minors with alcohol in their home, they can be arrested and charged. These laws are an attempt to decrease the number of adults hosting underage parties and supplying alcohol to minors (Wagoner et al. 2012). In addition to social host laws, laws concerning restricted licenses for teens and limiting teen driving at night seem to have had an impact on underage drinking. Additionally, license suspension laws for alcohol violations are making kids think twice before they consume alcohol and drive (Hingson, 2014). Yet underage drinking remains a nationwide concern and must continue to be addressed. While we don t know if Shakespeare was either mocking or reflecting the society he was living in, the theme is presented as one that was important to the lives of Othello and his men. We touched on many different aspects of how women were projected in the book, as well as throughout different time periods in our physical representation of the theme. With the use of color, words, and images we collectively explicated how both of us interpreted the book and how the class interpreted our theme, as discussed in class. Just as the characters of Desdemona and Emilia represented the two extremes of the female representation in Othello, our collage and its reactions are the three ideas we see in today s society: the complete awareness of issues, the negation of action on them, and the ignorance of them. While the world we live in recognizes these issues, there is little action to improve the negative aspects of them. These women could have taken down the poster, or reacted negatively to it, but instead they eventually just left it how it was. While this is a harsh reality, it is still something all women must face every day; this could explain the mildness of their reactions. The fact that these reactions were so mild completely reflects the issues in today s society, and shows just how little of a difference there between Othello and modern ... Many voice actors feel that they are not being paid enough for their services to the game making companies that they end up working for. Jennifer Hale has played major roles in several extremely successful video game titles such as the Halo, Mass Effect, and Bioshock series. She is part of a group known as the Screen Actors Guild American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, also known as SAG AFTRA. This is the group that has declared a strike against eleven different video game publishers after nineteen months of failed negotiations regarding compensation. As mentioned above, the problem at hand has to do with actors under the SAG AFTRA group and the large video game producers they contract with. The workers are worried not just about compensation for their work, but also transparency upon hiring and safety concerns on set. When asked about the situation Hale is quoted saying I have friends who have had to have surgery because of the vocal stress they incurred in the session and they ve been out of work for months. Currently, the actors are being paid around $800 for a four hour vocal session and are pushing for secondary compensation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Outsourcing of American Jobs Essay The Outsourcing of American Jobs The exporting of American jobs is an issue that is important and will become increasingly so as more and more white collar jobs are shipped overseas. American companies in the past few decades have been sending American jobs overseas paying residents of other countries pennies on the dollar what they had paid American workers to do. This saves the companies millions of dollars on labor costs but costs Americans precious jobs. Congressmen who continue to evade the issue and avoid taking a strong stance on this issue will lose votes when it comes to election time and that doesn t serve in the best interest for any politician. The other big player in this issue is big business. As labor is offered at cheaper rates overseas, it is very tempting for businesses to take advantage of that resource. Saving money is a great way to raise profits and stock values of companies. This brings up the hardest part of this issue. Americans own stock in the big companies that outsource jobs, if the company does well then the stock does well and it helps the investor. The average family makes between 33 to 45 thousand dollars a year. People in this bracket generally rely on their job to provide income and security for their family, not the value of stock. There are obvious and easy to pick out things which give red flags to an officer such as weapons, disregard for the safety of yourself or others, and clear intent to harm the officer. After each stop police officers would debrief the researchers and talk about how and why a character was deemed as raising suspicion. Amid these conclusions, Faith and Surovell derived their question from the fact that one cannot develop explanations for this phenomenon without knowing whether the extinction was a long term process or a single event. His skin color caused people to view him differently and also presented problems when he tried to find a wife. After he eventually found and married Desdemona her father Brabantio still did not approve of him; he said She, in spite of nature, Of years, of country, credit, everything, To fall in love with what she feared to look on! It is a judgment maimed and most imperfect That will confess perfection so could err Against all rules of nature (Act I, Scene 3). Brabantio saw this love as unnatural because he believes Desdemona would never fall in love with a black man who she was afraid to look upon. Before Othellomarried Desdemona Brabantio saw him as an honorable leader and great man, but after their marriage he accuses him of black magic and urges their marriage to be annulled by the Duke. This discriminationled to Othello s doubt and self conscience attitude which, ultimately leads to his demise at the end of the play. Discrimination continues to exist today as it did 400 years ago in Shakespeare s time. Today people are still discriminated against and persecuted because of their raceor their religious views. The problem of racial discrimination was increasingly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This will allow them to take special care with their hot food and drinks when they have children with them. Keeping hot drinks and food out of the reach of young children will also minimise the risk of them getting burnt, as said by North Bristol NHS trust. They also recommend that hot drinks should not be held at the same time as holding another child. Another adjustment they could make could be to put hot drinks into a special cup with a lid, that when tipped over does not spill and hot food could be left to cool for a few minutes before being served, meaning that it is not piping hot. As long as the parents and guardians are aware of the dangers associated with hot food and drinks, then this hazard shouldn t hold a very high likelihood. My reasoning for suggesting this is that it will reduce the likelihood of a child or an individual getting burnt if the drink falls as the lid will stop the drink from spilling. The existing controls that are in place in the food court in the mall are signs warning of hot surfaces and although most adults should know that food will be served hot, I still believe signs for hot food should be shown. I would recommend this because it will remind the adults that the food may burn and this will in turn make them think more before giving the child the hot food. In his speech president Kennedy claims that everyone needs to come together and solve the world problems peacefully, he uses emotional appeal, strong word choice, and ethical appeal to support his claim. To begin with, JFK effectively uses emotional appeal to support his claim that everybody needs to together and solve problems peacefully. To start, Kennedy says, we dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. The casting for the drama was open to participants to select. The whole casting process itself was very challenging and fun. In the beginning, I found it was necessary to engage the participant s focus on the process rather than the outcome and hence specific requirements for the drama were not decided upfront. Animal assisted Therapy (AAT) was first incorporated into the mental health institutions in the late eighteenth century to help increase socializations among the patients. As of today, a number of AAT programs have mainly targeted populations of patients with PTSD or those who have experienced trauma. PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) is classified as an anxiety disordercharacterized by the common symptoms avoidance, intrusion, alterations in mood and cognition, and alterations in arousal and reactivity (O Haire, M.E,. Guerin, N.A., Kirkham, A.C., 2015). The presence of an animal is thought to encourage a safe and open environment, elicit positive emotion and warmth, increase socializations, and increase the release of oxytocin, which aids in the relaxation process. Perhaps that s why PTSD or trauma patients respond so well when AAT is included in treatment. AAT is not a therapy used alone, but rather coupled with other treatment to enhance the therapy process. (Dietz, T. J., Davis., Pennings, J. 2012). • 38. Reflection Of The Journal Of Active Listening With My Parents Active Listening Journal I have been evaluating conversations I have had over the past few days to find good candidates to record in this journal. The first conversation which has been relevant to write about is one that I had on FaceTime with my parents. We had the opportunity to talk for almost half an hour on Sunday afternoon. We talked about many different things, including how our days were, what the weather is like back home and up here, how my brothers are doing, how our dogs are doing, and other random things that popped into our minds as we just enjoyed talking to one another. I have taken it upon myself to call them every night, even if it is just to talk for a few minutes. During this particular conversation, I noticed two things that I did particularly well while practicing active listening with my parents. First off, I noticed that I reflected very well in the conversation. One example stands out among the others, my dad was telling of how he had experienced trouble with one of our tractors earlier that day. To reflect on that topic, I commented It sounds to me like that break is going to end up being quite a costly malfunction! Along with reflection, I also noticed that I sufficiently used the component of sharing. While having a conversation with mom about one of our dogs, I respectfully shared my own view on the decision of whether or not to breed her, even though it differed from her and dad s. They were actually impressed by the argument I put forward and we now are going to have two litters of puppies instead of just one! By effectively using these attributes of an active listener, I feel that my conversation with my parents was greatly enhanced compared to some of the past times we have talked. I also noticed a couple of active listener traits that needed improvement. Surprisingly, I was not paying full attention to my parents during part of the call. I was Face Timing them on my computer while trying to multitask and complete a survey for another class at the same time during our conversation. I became so invested in the survey that my dad actually stopped talking to regain my attention. To prevent this situation, I will simply maximize the FaceTime app to eliminate distractions. ... • 44. Equity Plays An Important Role For The Common Law Equity plays an important role in the common law which will be explained in this essay. It s foundational principles derive from philosophy and ethics as well as from political and religious background. To understand specific nature and extent it operates in the modern world it would be necessary to look how it developed over the centuries in the UK. In the 13th century s England, the common law courts operated through the Court of Common Pleas and the King s Bench and could only offer a limited range of remedies, predominantly monetary damages, becoming inflexible and very strict. This was due to a closed categories of available writs, therefore many judgments were regarded as unfair. As a result people became dissatisfied with the system and started petitioning the king for a more suitable remedies. With increasing number of petitions the king began to delegate the function of resolving such petitions to the Chancellor. The chancellors were often clergymen, king s confessors and keepers of the king s conscience, which shaped the character of equity. They developed new, more appropriate remedies for the cases based on individual justice. However, each chancellor had different understanding of fairness giving an overall impression of uncertainty and inconsistency in law. With even more increase of petitions, new court has been created known as the Court of Chancery.
