Equal Rights for Same-Sex Couples Essays
Imagine being in love with someone, but never having the ability to make the relationship official.
For many same sex couples across the United States of America this is a reality. Even though great
strides have been made in the advancement of gay rights, homosexual couples still face opposition
from the Federal Government by being denied the right to a marriage. Same sex marriages should be
constitutionalized. While the Federal Government denies gay and lesbian couples the right to
marry, there are some state governments which allow same sex couples the right to domestic
partnerships, civil unions, and marriages. Comparing marriage to civil unions and domestic
partnerships is a bit like comparing diamonds to rhinestones (Human... Show more content on

These states which grant domestic partnerships and the states mentioned above which allow
civil unions are in the beginning stages of trying to rectify the Federal Government s Defense of
Marriage Act. Currently six states and one territory issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian
couples. These states are Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and
Vermont plus the District of Columbia (Human Rights Campaign). Though these states and
Washington, D.C. allow gay marriage, these couples still do not have the same rights and
benefits as heterosexual couples. There are many financial benefits received from a marriage
which make it appealing to same sex couples. These rights and federal tax benefits are given to
married heterosexual couples, but homosexual couples do not receive them. Such benefits
include the couple filing for joint tax returns and inheriting money or property from his or her
spouse without paying tax (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29). Due to the Defense of Marriage Act
(DOMA), which states marriage as being a legal coming together of husband and wife (Zajac,
Koova, and Rocks 29), marriages for same sex couples are deemed unconstitutional. This means
that even though a state may approve and allow a gay couple to be married , the Federal
Government prohibits it. Gay and Lesbian couples along with many gay rights activists strongly
oppose the Defense Of Marriage Act. Even the Obama administration,

The Watergate Scandal In The United States
It is widely believed that political leaders are crucial members of nations and societies.
Ideally, their main goal would be to construct a strong and prosperous nation, and satisfy the needs
of people. However, an unexpected scandal occurred in the 1970s in the United States, which led to
a drastic decline in public trust towards the president, and that was the Watergate scandal(Genovese
4). It was so atypical in presidential history because for the first time the president himself was
involved in the crimes during his administration (Genovese 1). Although
President Richard Nixon made great contributions during his presidency, his scandal brought a
great influence to journalism, spawned a variety of legislative responses, and changed ... Show more

Since Nixon s corruption was serious, he must have spent a huge amount of money on illegal
bargains. His corruption would also affect nation s economy, such as the price of goods went up.
It is convincible that those presidential candidates would feel so unconvinced after hearing
Nixon used bribe mean to protest his reelection. The public would also fall in deep regret that
they voted for Nixon to become president again after they knew what kind of president he is. To
avoid resemblant corruption happen again, The Federal Election Campaign Act had been passed
in 1971, and later in Congress passed several amendments to the law. The Federal Election
Campaign Act set limits on campaign contributions, provided partial federal funding for
presidential campaigns, created the Federal Election Commission to enforce these laws. It placed
strict limits on House, Senate, and presidential candidates:$25000 for House campaigns;$35000 for
Senate campaigns; and $50000 for presidential Campaigns. It limited independent expenditures that
is individuals or groups could give to campaigns to $1000 per candidate (U.S. Congress. Federal).
With enaction of this act, those large contributors could be eliminated, and president s expenditures
could be restricted. The Ethics in Government Act was passed in 1978. It required financial
disclosure forms from public officials, restricted government officials ability to lobby ( Finney ).

Cause And Effects Of Tsunami In Japan
In March of 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake hit Japan, releasing a dangerous tsunami. Japan was not
expecting the magnitude of the earthquake and tsunami, and endured much hardship after the
disaster. The effects of the tsunami can still be seen in Japan today through its residents, economy,
and through actions that have been taken to further protect residents from future disasters. Though
the Japan 2011 tsunamiis one of the most destructive tsunamis ever recorded, dangerous tsunamis
continue to take place across the globe. The Japan 2011 tsunami not only affected the inhabitants of
Japan, but also affected people around the world. After disasters such as this, each area must endure
the aftermath of the disaster and recover from the effects.
A tsunami is a series of huge waves occurring when there is a major disturbance on the ocean
floor. Tsunamis often occur due to earthquakes, volcanoes, or landslides (Park 16). Underwater
earthquakes may produce waves that travel in all different directions. Some tsunamis lose power
and die out under water, others may produce large waves as they approach land. Tsunamis may
look like an onrushing tidal wave as they approach land, but do not occur because of tides (Park
6). Their walls of water can move across the open ocean at speeds of up to 560 miles per hour.
When the waves hit the coast, they can reach up to 100 feet (Park 5). The tsunami in Japan is
believed to have occurred after two of Earth s tectonic plates collided in the

Extraction Of Caffeine From Tea
EXTRACTION OF CAFFEINE FROM TEA
Abstract
The method used to separate the organic compound from a mixture of compound is the extraction.
It is done by the dissolving of one or more compounds in a good solvent. The solvent which was
used in this experiment was 15 ml of dichloromethane into 125ml of water. Caffeine was extracted
from 9.19 g of TAZO Awake English Breakfast. Caffeine is soluble in water in 2.2 g/ml at 20 C; it
is more soluble than dichloromethane which has 10.2g/ml at 20 C, and the method used for the
extraction was the liquid liquid extraction method, followed by evaporation. The objective of
going through all these steps was to be able to obtain caffeine from tea and to see how pure or how
the caffeine was not pure in comparing the standard values of Melt Point and RF values of the
result of the experiment.
Introduction
It is well known that tea is one of the greatest frequently used caffeinated drinks in the world. The
caffeine (C8H10N4O2) which was extracted from the tea was harsh and white. Caffeine is
known as being a great stimulant which is mostly used by the majority of people, and caffeine
has a power in people s organism. It creates many different kinds of problems, such respiratory
problems, heart rate problems, anxiety and insomnia problems. On the other hand, caffeine has
some good effects for people, such as improving alertness, learning capacity and exercise
performance (NCBI, 2013). Tea

The Acropolis Of Athens And Athens Essay
The Acropolis of Athens
Intro
Over the years, the Acropolis of Athens, a large rock with a flat top that overlooks the city with
an elevation of over 500 feet, served a variety of purposes to the people that lived on or near it.
Any city built on an enormous hill can be considered an acropolis, but in today s world, The
Acropolis is associated with the ancient Acropolis of Athens. As stated in the New World
Encyclopedia, to some, the Acropolis of Athenswas also known as Cecropia, after the legendary
serpent man, Kekrops or Cecrops, the first Athenian king ( Acropolis ). Most people know the
Acropolis of Athens as a place where ancient Greeks went to pray to their Gods. Although, during
the height of Greece s civilization, the Acropolis was also a meeting and marketplace for citizens
to mingle to buy goods, to discuss politics, and to vote in the first democracy in the world.
History
The Acropolis was home to many inhabitants long before the Greeks lived there. Although the
earliest artifacts of the Acropolis showed that it had been occupied during the Neolithic age,
most of the relics date back to the Mycenaean period (1900 BCE to 1100 BCE) and the Classical
period (500 BCE to 330 BCE). During the Neolithic and Mycenaean ages, the residents chose to
live there because it was fairly easy to defend since they could see all of the land around it for
miles. After centuries of living on the Acropolis, many buildings and structures relating to Athena,

Gus Van Sant s Elephant
Van Sant s film represents the reality of high school, focusing on the look of its beauty,
characters, while also ignoring the basic grime inherent on most campuses. Van Sant takes pride
in portraying a valuable image. What s in the room really touches you if it is closely examined.
The hallways and the fields of the school are in pristine condition, staying abnormally clean,
almost too clean for a school. Despite this seeming glorification of the building, the hallways are
kept as a constant secondary to the sharply focused characters the camera constantly follows.
This really takes the focus away from the bare walls and empty hallways and places it directly on
the students. The film isn t about the location that it occurred, but more about the people that it
happened to. The focus is on the students of the film, both figuratively and literally. The camera
appears to look like it s never stop moving. It does halt for brief pauses that seem to relax the
viewer. There is some frustration upon watching because you can t collect all the data you need to
deconstruct the film. However the scenes do go go back and forth with each other sometimes. At
one point you may notice that you re following a student and it will cut into the perspective of
another student whom will pass by the student that was originally being followed. This sort of
filming can cause confusion but employs a nice twist to the film. The plot doesn t post the events in
chronological order. When a

Cyp19a1 Research Paper
The aromatase enzyme CYP19A1 is so named because it is responsible for catalyzing the
conversion of 19 carbon androgens to 18 carbon aromatic estrogens . The CYP19A1 is complex
bound to the SER of the cells, and is localized in the ovaries, testis, placenta, and fat , brain , and
bone tissues.
CYP19A1 converts AN and TS to E1 and E2b, respectively, in the granulosa cells, which are
somatic cells present in the ovaries and the placenta. Furthermore, CYP19A1 can convert TS to
E2b in the leydig, seroli, and germ cells found in the testis. This process is crucial for the initiation
of spermatogenesis and mitosis of spermatogonia . Both E2b and E1 can be further catalyzed into
the third estrogen estriol.
Estrogens are vital for the regulation of sex hormones, and are known to proliferate certain forms
of cancers. For this reason, estrogens are a recognized target for inhibition of hormone depended
diseases like breast cancer, and aromatase inhibitors (AIs) like letrozole and anastrozole are of
interest as they will lower the levels of estrogens. Both letrozole and anastrozole are currently
indicated for the treatment of post menopausal women with breast cancer. ... Show more content on

Advantages of cellular methods, for example the H295R cell line, is that they can provide detailed
information of the substrates tested and they can express the entire steroidogenesis . This will
provide a complete picture of the regulation of hormones when influenced by a test drug. Cellular
methods are however expensive and often quite time consuming, and therefore it can be necessary
to screen substrates with a more rapid and inexpensive non cellular method

The California Osteoporosis Prevention And Education Act
Every year, about one third of everyone over the age of 65 falls, and do not report it to their
doctors. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries in older people (Falls Among
Older Adults). Falls become more common as people age because their bones become more
brittle and their muscle mass decreases. In society today, the baby boomers are aging, which
means falls will continue to increase in frequency. When a person falls, it doesn t just affect the
victim; it affects everyone. In 2012, approximately $30 billion went towards medical costs that
were associated with falls (Falls Among Older Adults). To prevent more people being injured and
more money being spent, there has to be a change. In 2010, the California OsteoporosisPrevention
and Education Act was established. This acts intent is to spread public awareness of
osteoporosis, how it can be prevented, and to improve the way osteoporosis is treated. Half of
all older women and 15 percent of older men will suffer a fracture related to osteoporosis (Stone).
Not only would it spread awareness of the disease with the older generation, but also with
physicians and other medical personal to educate them on how it can be treated. Along with the
California Osteoporosis Prevention and Education Act, there is Welfare and Institutions Code
Section 9450 9454. Theses sections focus on people and the idea of aging in place , and how
adjustments to the home can make it safer for people. Section 9451 s intent is

BACKGROUND
After a coup d Г©tat in 1969, Libya lived under Gaddafi s authoritarian government for more than
four decades. His regime was characterized by brutal repression against opposition through torture,
massacres and public hangings or mutilations. This level of political repression was the
government s mean to maintain control over military and general population. Any kind of political
association was forbidden, the media was controlled, and the population was closely surveillance

was Abdullah Al Senussi, was in charge of the security in and outside the country. The violence of
Gaddafi s regime transcended Libya frontiers as the monitoring of dissidents around the world
ended up in the assassination of target opponents that were living in western countries.
There were several attempts against Gaddafi regime, most of them lead by military officers but any
of these efforts generated positive changes. On the contrary the officers and citizens that
participated on the coups were arrested, tortured, and sentenced to death or long prison terms.
Under such conditions citizens were afraid to express their dissent, but by February 2011, Libyan
political history took a decisive turn. Political corruption and excessive freedom restrictions
motivated protests that spread over the country. The government resort to the use of force against
civilians, a reaction that was condemned for

20 people in a facility that could hold 250 people, instantly my heart sunk and my spirit became
vexed as the frustration of the moment slowly began to sink in. Admittedly, I almost burst out into
hysterical laughter when I thought about how I had been hoodwinked into believing that I was

I thought and prayed over the next several weeks and honestly I complained and vented to few

dawned on me, why was I complaining? I thought to myself, if I was truly called to ministry by
God then anything I place my hand upon can and would be blessed. That is, only if I would
begin to exercise greater faith and trust in God; shedding my disbelief only to dawn a new
outlook on the path of church leadership. After all, God has place unique and specially gifts inside
the hearts and spirits of all of his children. It was from that moment that I began to pray and talked

Purpose Statement For Equilibrium
Purpose Statement
In this experiment we will determine an equilibrium constant for specific reactions by using Beer s
law and Le ChГўtelier s principles. Reactions that are at equilibrium are constantly occurring in
both directions. In order to test the consistency of the equilibrium constant we will change
concentrations of the reactants to see how that affects equilibrium.
Introduction
Equilibrium can be reached when the forward and reverse reactions are occurring at the same
rate. To determine if a reaction is at equilibrium, you can record the values of the products and
divide that by the value of the reactants. For example the equation for the reaction aA + bB (

Using the same process, the equilibrium concentration of Fe3+ and SCN in each mixture will also
be calculated. After finding the equilibrium constants, the mean and standard deviation of each
cuvet will be recorded using basic equations. For finding the mean, we will take the sum of all of
the equilibrium concentrations and divide that by the total number of values. The standard
deviation and mean can be more easily calculated by entering the data into excel and using their
standard formulas.
Graphical Analysis
The absorbance of each of the 30 readings will be recorded and series S1 S5 will be placed into a
scatter plot comparing the amount of absorbance and the concentration of solution. From the
scatter plot, a linear regression line, slope, and correlation coefficient will be found. Calculating
the correlation coefficient will allow us to see if we correctly prepared the solutions and if there
are any outliers present that could skew our data.

The Development Of Luxury Industry
People love luxury. Some people think it stands for fashion, and some people think it stands for
a social stratum, but in common, people think it stands for rich and success. However, is it
really a symbol of success? Or, it is just the satisfaction of vanity? People can see what famous
people use and wear in television or magazine in their daily lives which gives them a model of
rich people s lives. Luxury usually plays a big role. People s vanities push them to spend a huge
amount of their income on purchasing luxuries so that they can look more similar to the famous
people who they idolize with. Generation to generation, using luxury to measure whether one is
success or not becomes a culture, and rich becomes the synonym of success in the society. The
development of luxury industry benefits by this unhealthy culture; at the same time, people s
vanities also be expended by luxury which cause the distorted definition of success. The
development of luxury industry never leaves human s vanity. People want to look rich but not
poor, specially, in United States and under American Dream. According to Sales of the Luxury in
Selected Countries in 2013 (see figure 1), the country which has the highest sales of the luxury
goods in 2013 is United States which is almost four times higher than Japan which is in the second

American Political System Vs United States

Depending on the differences of the political system it can either make it harder or easier to

systems are related is, the US system of government is of course fundamentally different to that in

In the United Kingdom there is not a two party system like the United States. The UK systems
consists of a, multi party single member constituency electoral systems (Jonhnston and Pattie

However, instead of the major political parties being called democrat and republican, the major
United Kingdom political parties are called the conservative party and labour party (Whitaker

similarity when it comes to the election process of the House of Commons. In the election

However, the election process of the executives is where the United States and the United

Social Media Defense Essay
Social Media Digital Defense Social media; a brief history Computer networking was envisioned
in the 60 s as a military centric command and control scheme. In the 70s and 80s as the amount of
computers that were being used increased came the idea that connected computers would make a
great forum for discussing topics, meeting new people and renewing acquaintances. During the
late 70s to mid 90 s companies and hobbyists were building sites that allowed people to share
information using a system called Bulletin Board System (BBS) which allowed people to
communicate, download files, and games. Although there were many companies offering different
features to people such as forums, emails and the ability to download files. Most people... Show

The History of Modern World
The History of Modern World
On August 6 and 9, 1945, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by the first
atomic bombs used in warfare, killing over 150,000 Japanese and inflicting radiation poisoning on
more still. Five days later on August 14, Japan surrendered. The need to defeat Japan and to end
the Second World War is the most commonly held view about dropping the atomic bombs on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Some argue however that this was not the main reason for dropping these
two bombs in 1945.
On April 12, 1945, President Franklin D. Roosevelt died and so as Vice President, Harry S. Truman
became the thirty third American President. Roosevelt had failed to inform his vice ... Show more

Benjamin Cohen justified the dropping of the bombs by saying, Any weapon that would bring
an end to the war and save a million casualties among American boys was justified and we were
talking about dealing with the people who hadn t hesitated at Pearl Harbor to make a sneak
attack destroying not only ships but the lives of many America soldiers. The US government used
a lot of propaganda as a way to remind Americans of the attack on Pearl Harbor, this was mostly in
the form of posters showing the atrocities of destroyed fleet.
Many scientists and historians have questioned whether part of Truman s decision to drop the
bombs was to test this new type of weapon. A previous nuclear test explosion was conducted in a
desert in New Mexico however this did not show what the bombs were capable of in a populated
area. Scientists did give Truman alternative locations to test the bombs such as uninhabited
islands but the president wanted to properly see what the new weapon could do. A secret report
sent to President Truman in April 1945 by the scientists who made the bomb said, We remind you
of the report sent to President Roosevelt in 1940. It spoke of the danger of radiation, which will

Indoor Tanning Creams
There are many indoor tanners these days, and so it stands to reason that a lot of them use an
indoor tanning lotion. The reason for these products is so a person can get a brilliant color as
quickly as possible. And, this is also helpful as someone can get the shade he or she wants, without
spending too much time to get it.
This cream works a bit different from those outdoor lotions. Outdoor products are used so a
person can block those UV rays from their skin while they are playing in nature, yet still get some
color. This product, on the other hand, is formulated to encourage rapid color gain for the person
who is tanning in the spa or salon.
Moreover, these lotions have come a long way in regard to providing skin benefits to the tanner ...

things, this lotion fights free radicals which cause lines and wrinkles in the skin.
It is true that these lotions can be much more pricey than their out of doors product counterparts,
but the good news is that they can be found for purchase several places. One of the easiest ways to
find them is by going to a local salon. Although it s true that someone will usually have to pay
retail, the spas and salons have a greater selection than other stores that may carry them.
A really smart way to find these tanning items is by checking one s local beauty supply shop. Not
only can a person find those things there that he or she may not be able to find elsewhere, but that
individual can usually get them for a significantly cheaper cost, as well. The only negative aspect is
that sometimes the beauty supply stores only carry a few of the brands, thereby limiting

The Evil Of Revenge, And The Evil Of Revenge
The single most destructive force in this world is revenge. An immense amount of wars,
murders, division, and hatred is due to the evil that is revenge. There are many famous forms of
literature that discuss revenge. One is Of Revenge by Sir Francis Bacon. In this essay Bacon
explains the evil of revenge and why it shouldn t be taken. Also, down playing revenge, Robert
Kennedy gave a speech called A Eulogy for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Immediately following
the death of Dr. King, Kennedy pleads with the African American community and America to
forgive this offense instead of taking revenge for King s murder. The final piece of media that
discusses revenge does it in a different manor. Edgar Allen Poe writes about revenge in a short
story called The Cask of Amontillado. The plot of this story is that of a man named Montresor
desperately seeks revenge upon a colleague and eventually murders him by trapping him in
catacombs deep underground. No matter what the circumstances, revenge should never be taken
because men become controlled and destroyed by revenge, and revenge creates division among
people. People are constantly being commanded by the temptation of revenge and demolished by
the aftermath of taking it. I forced the last stone into place; I plastered it up. For more than a half
century no one has disturbed them (Poe 8). In the story The Cask of Amontillado , Montresor is so
hopelessly controlled by his desire for revenge, that he brutally murders his

Through the successor ... Gandhi was pitted against a whole discourse which the successor and
virtually the whole country considered as the only rational mode of ordering life, be it individual or
collective (Chandra 44).

While Gandhi never precisely defines modern civilization , such a thing may indeed be
impossible as the discourse already, to some extent, defines us, he does offer an analogy to
understand its nature. As this kind of civilization exists in idealized forms in its literature and
theories and realized forms throughout Europe, America, and their colonies, he considers these its
identity. From this, one can infer its nature as one learns of a tiger. While, in theory, a tiger could
change its character, this question completely misses the point that the very nature of the tiger is
at fault (Swaraj 27 28). The preaching of modern civilization, as rhetoric, plus the real patterns of
this kind of living comprise the object of his criticism. This marks one of his first important
differences from the discourse he opposes. Where Gandhi considers the tiger in terms of its nature
and as a pattern of behavior, the technical rationality of the discourse he is arguing against
considers a tiger as a particular collection of biological specificities that may sometimes act in
predictable ways, but is entirely mutable. While this summary of Gandhi makes him sound more
like Plato than is fair, his arguments tend to look for deeper meanings where possible and
permanent truths as opposed to the myopia of the discourse he is criticizing. Similarly, Gandhi
claims that only men with mature thoughts are capable of ruling themselves (Swaraj 16), whereas
modern civilization boasts

The Three Ways That One s Christian Faith
The three ways that one s Christian faith motivates him or her towards excellence in writing would
be faith, honesty, and loving others. Humanity since the start has communicated through various
types of writing. Writing has advanced from the stone age period of drawing into something that
progressions a man s thought. History has shown that writing is essential in reaching the intended
audience. For example, Biggs stated that, when an officer develops a reputation as a good report
writer, others look to her or him as a mentor. The struggling officers tend to emulate the writing
style of the good writer and begin to use the same phraseology and word choice, (Biggs, 2016). In

Vegetable Puree Experiment
If the vegetable puree is zucchini puree, then the moisture content will increase. The purpose of
this experiment is to determine whether adding vegetable puree to cupcakes increases the
moisture content. No one likes a dry cupcake, so if there is a way to add moisture, then this should
happen. Another benefit to this experiment is that by adding vegetable puree it can be a healthier
alternative as opposed to normal cupcakes. The experiment was interesting because baking is
something that is done very often, and is always great to find ways to improve the food. This

Instead of replacing the butter with avocado puree and zucchini puree, the puree was added along
with the butter. This is part of the reason there was too much moisture, especially with the zucchini

The hypothesis was supported. The zucchini cupcakes contained the most moisture. The moisture
content was 16.5 grams. The moisture content for the avocado cupcakes was 15.5 grams. And the
control cupcakes had a moisture content of 14.4 grams. The science behind the experiment was that
when vegetables are added the moisture content increases, which makes for a better cupcake. The
percent difference was 20%.
The science behind this experiment was the chemistry within baking. The different ingredients in
each batch of cupcakes had a different outcome. Each batch looked and tasted different. This

The Importance Of Internet On The Internet
Nowadays, internet has been one of the most important things in human s life. It is an unseen
bridge that allows people to access the world. A fast flow of information and communication are
what provided in internet. Any information we need is easily gained without limited by time and
space. Internet is a huge mediato allow humans connect each other. Whatever are the events in
one part of the world, will quickly be recognized by those who are on the other side. By the
development of information technology, people now are able to have a social relationship in
internet. The media which enable them to establish a relationship virtually are called as social
networks (or social media). Numerous social networks are widely used today. Facebook, twitter,
Blackberry Messenger, and WhatsApp are few of them, following the steps of Friendster as the
pioneer back then. Some features like chatting and video call are what people served with.
However, chatting and calling are not the only things we can do in social networks. There is
also trading as one of the most rapid activities people do other than those basic functions. As
media with almost no charge needed in using them, social networks are very powerful tools of
promotion for those who just start a small business, or want to run the business with limited
time, access and budget. They can be used also to sell unused stuffs. Massive number of users,
especially facebook, has created a big market and opportunities for sellers to trade their products.
It is also very useful when someone wants to look for the things he needs and buys, without have
to get the new one with higher price. Trading forums as a modified form of facebook group is a
feature provided by facebook that allows its members to sell things. In selling things through posts,
they often (with or without they realize) created and used special forms of terms or modified
words. Evidently, the languages used by those members are very different from what usually used
in daily conversation. It is even different from slang languagecommonly used in chatting or sms.
Normally, one posts an advertisement in the group with description inserted with some new words.

What Is The Labyrinth In Looking For Alaska
I have the same view of Looking for Alaska having finished it than when I wrote the first journal.
It s crazy good and John Green is a crazy good author. His writing style and technique show how
experienced he is.
Green portrays a lot of different people in his novels. He does seem to use many stereotypical
characters, but I think he means to do it that way. I definitely like characters in novels that do fit
into society. However, when you have people that you can fit into a certain category, it surprises
you more when they do something you wouldn t expect. You have the Weekday Warriors who are
rich which means most of them are mean, too. A big surprise is that the Colonel s girlfriend is a

Although the story gives you a reason and way out of the labyrinth, you re still left to come up with
what the labyrinth means to you. Everybody in the book has their own meaning of what the
labyrinth is to them. The Colonel thinks it s a path that sucks, but the road you have to take.
After all this time, it seems to me like straight and fast is the only way out but I choose the
labyrinth. The labyrinth blows, but I choose it (Green 216). This quote shows that the Colonel
knows life gives some horrible twists in the original plan, however he seems to take it in stride.
Pudge believes the only way to get through is with forgiveness. He s constantly feeling guilty for
things he did or didn t do. Finally, he realizes that he can t let his past haunt him; he has to

escape. She believes that all life is, is suffering and you can t really escape. She has a pretty
pessimistic view on life in general and thinks the only way out his straight and fast. Her death
could be a true example of that, which brings us to another issue that Green leaves us with at the

to return to Russia to help shape the future of the country. He feels that with the tsars abdication

When Lenin returns to Russia on 3rd April 1917 he announces what is known as the April Theses .
Lenin s programme was summed up in the words Peace, Bread and Land . Lenin promised the
people these things to get them on his side and to appeal to soldiers, workers and peasants. Lenin
guaranteed them these things to introduce his party and to encourage them to side with him rather
than the provisional government.
The long term affects of this were that once in power Lenin would have to keep his promise to the

Lenin and Trotsky formed the Red Guard and set up the Military Revolutionary Committee which

leader Korensky had already evacuated the capital. Initially the effects of this were that the

Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac Essay
Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac
Although Leopold s love of great expanses of wilderness is readily apparent, his book does not
cry out in defense of particular tracts of land about to go under the axe or plow, but rather deals
with the minutiae, the details, of often unnoticed plants and animals, all the little things that, in our
ignorance, we have left out of our managed acreages but which must be present to add up to
balanced ecosystems and a sense of quality and wholeness in the landscape.
Part I of A Sand County Almanac is devoted to the details of a single piece of land: Leopold s 120
acre farmed out farmstead in central Wisconsin, abandoned as a farm years before because of the
poor soil from which the sand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These dilemmas brought up in Part II make the Round River essays, inserted as the modern edition
s Part III, titled A Taste for Country, particularly apt, because this is the section of the book that
deals primarily with philosophies. It is here that Leopold states that poor land may be rich
country, and vice versa . It is here that Leopold introduces the concept, radical then but widely
accepted now, that the planet itself is a living organism and, through the natural cycles of earth,
wind, fire and water, continually replenishes its own means of remaining alive. The human role
in this Round River ecosystem is prominent, of course, and for thousands of years indigenous
people depended directly on the bounty of this natural system to supply their needs of food and
fiber. Although modern civilization has been forced by its increasing population to create artificial
cycles, replacing elk and deer and grouse with beef and hogs and poultry, and replacing the oaks
and bluestem grasses which fed the wild meat with corn and alfalfa.
And finally, Part III contains the essay titled Goose Music, in which Leopold spells out his belief
that the earth was fashioned by the Lord God, the Supreme Artist after whose works all the art of
man has been initiated, and that every part of creation should therefore be held sacred. We may be

It is not a violent act placing toxic waste in minority communities or expose the humblest workers

The Factor Model Developed By Costa And Mccrae
Along with defining the underlying factors of musical preference much research has explored
personality and has attempted to label different personality traits. Personality cannot be directly
observed and quantified because it is an abstract concept with several different definitions and
interpretations. For the purpose of this study, the five factor model developed by Costa and
McCrae (cite) will be used. Simply put, the five factor model (FFM) is an empirical generalization
about personality traits and how they are applied to people. The five major factors, labeled
Openness (O), Conscientiousness (C), Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), and Neuroticism(N)
have been extensively researched with diverse populations over the course of several decades
(McCrae Costa, 2008). Although the FFM is not considered a theory of personality, it implicitly
adopts the tenants of trait theory, in that it holds that individuals can be characterized in a relatively
stable pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions (cite).
The first factor, Extraversion, implies an energetic approach toward the social and material world
and would includes traits such as sociability, assertiveness, and positive emotionality. Individuals
who are high in extraversion are more likely to approach others at social gatherings and introduce
themselves, or take lead in organizing group projects. Extraverts are also more likely to prefer to
live in larger cities where they are surrounded by others, and

Examples Of The Ultimatum In A Lesson Before Dying
The Ultimatum
When thinking of losing dignity, the first thing that might come to mind is getting caught
screeching to a catchy song in your bedroom or bragging about getting a prize for an award but then
ending up getting nothing. These things seem trivial compared to the stakes of losing your dignity
in the novel A Lesson Before Dying written by Ernest Gaines. Throughout the novel, it emphasizes
the fact that the ultimatum of making small changes and differences will positively affect someone
s dignity.
In the novel A Lesson Before Dying, dignity is something that every character in the book doesn t
want to lose. This applies accordingly to Jefferson, a character who is falsely accused of murder
and is given the death sentence. In the court, his lawyer publicly shamed him and called him an
animal and a fool , and when accidentally calling Jefferson a man, he profusely apologized as if it
were a sin. Due to this fact, Jefferson s goal is to become a man with dignity with the help of his
cousin Grant before he dies. Throughout the novel, it emphasizes the ultimatum of making small
changes and differences will positively affect someone s dignity. This is proven when Grant
becomes a man of dignity after meeting repeatedly with Jefferson, and likewise with Jefferson to

In every major military operation, terrain, troops and weapons often dictate the way the war is
fought. The American Revolutionary War was a prime example of this military strategy. It is often
said that the Patriots use of guerrilla warfare was the reason why the Americans were successful in
defeating the British. However, the Americans employed various tactics both on and off the
battlefield that led to the ultimate defeat of the British. The American Patriots won the

amalgamation of guerrilla warfare, linear battle tactics, and the employment of espionage.

The small arms that the army did have were often defective and gunpowder was scarce. The
standard musket used by the militia was inefficient in terms of fighting on the larger scale battle
fields. Not only were the bullets completely inaccurate at 300 yards but they were also no longer
lethal at that distance. Additionally, the rifles the militia used were their own and not available to
the Continental Army as a whole. Therefore, the Continental Army began using the Brown Bess ,
the musket with bayonet attachment that the British Army used. They became available as the
Patriots would capture British troops and were also shipped in from European manufacturers.
Although it was highly inaccurate and was very time consuming in terms of reloading,
considering it was used in mass in the linear formation of the ranks and file of the standing
armies, it was highly effective in terms of the volleying of the rounds. At fifty yards, the Brown
Bess would have an eighteen inch variance. However, in linear formations, this variance could
be overcome and injury could still be imposed as soldiers were closely filed together. The musket
weighed approximately 13 pounds and released a large amount of smoke after it was fired.
Therefore, the linear tactics had to be employed to allow for repeated volleys, firing rank by rank,
and thus unleashing more damage at approximately nine rounds per volley. Furthermore, the Brown
Bess had the capability of attaching bayonets, which were also necessary on the battlefield. The
bayonet was inserted down the barrel of the musket, which was imperative for close quarter hand to
hand combat when time did not allow to reload the musket and the enemy was too close. Linear
tactics also allowed Washington s use of artillery, although it was limited. Washington utilized light,

despite the fact that they are all over him. Blaine is the owner of a nightclub, and he often chooses
to isolate himself from customers. Not only does he stay in insolation, but he also refuses to ... Show

This new Blaine is what he was like in the past. Therefore, one is sent back in history. Once back
in history, Blaine is a very romantic and compassionate man. He was deeply in love with Ilsa.
The film later identifies that, Rick Blaine was on the anti fascism campaign in Paris, and he was
blacklisted as a result of his involvement. When the Nazis were invading Paris, he had to escape
from Paris in order to avoid persecution. He was planning on Ilsa escaping with him, but she
never showed up at the train station. This new revelation revealed what caused such a drastic
change in Blaine. When Ilsa left him, he felt like he is insides have been kicked out (Casablanca).
This abandonment caused Blaine to drastically change. He went from being a compassionate,
romantic man to a harsh, cynical one. Blaine also probably changed from being on the anti

Abstract In this paper we have discussed about the cache and various mapping technique. Then we
shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging
request from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the
primary memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique
intercepts the pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in
RAM. Hence it tries to fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memory hierarchy.
This paper analyze the performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various
categories of cache misses we discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher
performance. Lastly we discuss few open and challenging issues faced in various cache optimization
techniques.
Keywords Cache mapping technique, Cache optimization, Virtual Memory, Zswap, Zbud , LZO,

I. INTRODUCTION
Basically, cache is the smallest and fastest memory component in the hierarchy. It is aimed to
bridge the gap between the fastest processor to the slowest memory components at a reasonable

Physician’s Assisted Suicide
Imagine yourself lying in bed at the hospital hooked up to all sorts of machines that are just
barely keeping you alive. Imagine the pain and suffering you are in on a daily bass and the
medication being given to you isn t cutting it any longer and all the doctors and nurses can do for
you is just keep you comfortable. The doctors have literally given you no chance of survival and
deathis imminent. You have taken the time you have left to say your good byes, came to terms
with dying, and you are ready to leave this world. If you could choose to end your life instead of
wasting away, would you take advantage of it? Death is the inevitable fate of all humans. When
facing death, the question may arise as to whether or not third parties... Show more content on

When a patient is laying in a hospital bed in pain and the medication no longer helps, the doctors
and nurses can no longer help except to try and make the patient as comfortable as possible; why
not let them choose to end their life. When the patient is forced to endure agonizing pain even
though they want to die, some decided to end their lives on their own ending in a more traumatic
and messy outcome then a humane injection or pill that will take away their pain and let them slip
away easily. In my opinion there is no reason to suffer endlessly waiting on their imminent death,
why not let a physician who knows what he/she is doing help the patient to end their lives on their
own terms. The government cannot stop suicide from happening, there are people all over the
U.S. that end their lives for a reason. Telling a patient who knows he/she will die sooner than
later due to their illness that they cannot end their lives gives that patient in some cases a feeling
of loss of power. When an adult is told by younger doctors and nurses that they are not to end
their lives, it pushes some over the edge and they end up wanting to end their lives in their own
way. When taking their lives into their own hands it can become messy and traumatic. Giving the
terminally ill adults the power back to choose when they want to go and how they want to go
makes their ending of life much more peaceful. The patient that is able to choose death

  • 2. Equal Rights for Same-Sex Couples Essays Imagine being in love with someone, but never having the ability to make the relationship official. For many same sex couples across the United States of America this is a reality. Even though great strides have been made in the advancement of gay rights, homosexual couples still face opposition from the Federal Government by being denied the right to a marriage. Same sex marriages should be constitutionalized. While the Federal Government denies gay and lesbian couples the right to marry, there are some state governments which allow same sex couples the right to domestic partnerships, civil unions, and marriages. Comparing marriage to civil unions and domestic partnerships is a bit like comparing diamonds to rhinestones (Human... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These states which grant domestic partnerships and the states mentioned above which allow civil unions are in the beginning stages of trying to rectify the Federal Government s Defense of Marriage Act. Currently six states and one territory issue marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. These states are Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont plus the District of Columbia (Human Rights Campaign). Though these states and Washington, D.C. allow gay marriage, these couples still do not have the same rights and benefits as heterosexual couples. There are many financial benefits received from a marriage which make it appealing to same sex couples. These rights and federal tax benefits are given to married heterosexual couples, but homosexual couples do not receive them. Such benefits include the couple filing for joint tax returns and inheriting money or property from his or her spouse without paying tax (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29). Due to the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which states marriage as being a legal coming together of husband and wife (Zajac, Koova, and Rocks 29), marriages for same sex couples are deemed unconstitutional. This means that even though a state may approve and allow a gay couple to be married , the Federal Government prohibits it. Gay and Lesbian couples along with many gay rights activists strongly oppose the Defense Of Marriage Act. Even the Obama administration, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Watergate Scandal In The United States It is widely believed that political leaders are crucial members of nations and societies. Ideally, their main goal would be to construct a strong and prosperous nation, and satisfy the needs of people. However, an unexpected scandal occurred in the 1970s in the United States, which led to a drastic decline in public trust towards the president, and that was the Watergate scandal(Genovese 4). It was so atypical in presidential history because for the first time the president himself was involved in the crimes during his administration (Genovese 1). Although President Richard Nixon made great contributions during his presidency, his scandal brought a great influence to journalism, spawned a variety of legislative responses, and changed ... His corruption would also affect nation s economy, such as the price of goods went up. The public would also fall in deep regret that they voted for Nixon to become president again after they knew what kind of president he is. To avoid resemblant corruption happen again, The Federal Election Campaign Act had been passed in 1971, and later in Congress passed several amendments to the law. The Federal Election Campaign Act set limits on campaign contributions, provided partial federal funding for presidential campaigns, created the Federal Election Commission to enforce these laws. Japan was not expecting the magnitude of the earthquake and tsunami, and endured much hardship after the disaster. The effects of the tsunami can still be seen in Japan today through its residents, economy, and through actions that have been taken to further protect residents from future disasters. Though the Japan 2011 tsunamiis one of the most destructive tsunamis ever recorded, dangerous tsunamis continue to take place across the globe. The Japan 2011 tsunami not only affected the inhabitants of Japan, but also affected people around the world. After disasters such as this, each area must endure the aftermath of the disaster and recover from the effects. A tsunami is a series of huge waves occurring when there is a major disturbance on the ocean floor. Tsunamis often occur due to earthquakes, volcanoes, or landslides (Park 16). Underwater earthquakes may produce waves that travel in all different directions. Some tsunamis lose power and die out under water, others may produce large waves as they approach land. Tsunamis may look like an onrushing tidal wave as they approach land, but do not occur because of tides (Park 6). Their walls of water can move across the open ocean at speeds of up to 560 miles per hour. When the waves hit the coast, they can reach up to 100 feet (Park 5). • 7. Extraction Of Caffeine From Tea EXTRACTION OF CAFFEINE FROM TEA Abstract The method used to separate the organic compound from a mixture of compound is the extraction. It is done by the dissolving of one or more compounds in a good solvent. The solvent which was used in this experiment was 15 ml of dichloromethane into 125ml of water. Caffeine was extracted from 9.19 g of TAZO Awake English Breakfast. Caffeine is soluble in water in 2.2 g/ml at 20 C; it is more soluble than dichloromethane which has 10.2g/ml at 20 C, and the method used for the extraction was the liquid liquid extraction method, followed by evaporation. The objective of going through all these steps was to be able to obtain caffeine from tea and to see how pure or how the caffeine was not pure in comparing the standard values of Melt Point and RF values of the result of the experiment. Introduction It is well known that tea is one of the greatest frequently used caffeinated drinks in the world. The caffeine (C8H10N4O2) which was extracted from the tea was harsh and white. Caffeine is known as being a great stimulant which is mostly used by the majority of people, and caffeine has a power in people s organism. • 8. The Acropolis Of Athens And Athens Essay The Acropolis of Athens Intro Over the years, the Acropolis of Athens, a large rock with a flat top that overlooks the city with an elevation of over 500 feet, served a variety of purposes to the people that lived on or near it. Any city built on an enormous hill can be considered an acropolis, but in today s world, The Acropolis is associated with the ancient Acropolis of Athens. As stated in the New World Encyclopedia, to some, the Acropolis of Athenswas also known as Cecropia, after the legendary serpent man, Kekrops or Cecrops, the first Athenian king ( Acropolis ). Most people know the Acropolis of Athens as a place where ancient Greeks went to pray to their Gods. Although, during the height of Greece s civilization, the Acropolis was also a meeting and marketplace for citizens to mingle to buy goods, to discuss politics, and to vote in the first democracy in the world. History The Acropolis was home to many inhabitants long before the Greeks lived there. Although the earliest artifacts of the Acropolis showed that it had been occupied during the Neolithic age, most of the relics date back to the Mycenaean period (1900 BCE to 1100 BCE) and the Classical period (500 BCE to 330 BCE). During the Neolithic and Mycenaean ages, the residents chose to live there because it was fairly easy to defend since they could see all of the land around it for miles. • 9. Gus Van Sant s Elephant Van Sant s film represents the reality of high school, focusing on the look of its beauty, characters, while also ignoring the basic grime inherent on most campuses. Van Sant takes pride in portraying a valuable image. What s in the room really touches you if it is closely examined. The hallways and the fields of the school are in pristine condition, staying abnormally clean, almost too clean for a school. Despite this seeming glorification of the building, the hallways are kept as a constant secondary to the sharply focused characters the camera constantly follows. This really takes the focus away from the bare walls and empty hallways and places it directly on the students. The film isn t about the location that it occurred, but more about the people that it happened to. The focus is on the students of the film, both figuratively and literally. The camera appears to look like it s never stop moving. It does halt for brief pauses that seem to relax the viewer. There is some frustration upon watching because you can t collect all the data you need to deconstruct the film. However the scenes do go go back and forth with each other sometimes. At one point you may notice that you re following a student and it will cut into the perspective of another student whom will pass by the student that was originally being followed. This sort of filming can cause confusion but employs a nice twist to the film. The plot doesn t post the events in chronological order. When a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Cyp19a1 Research Paper The aromatase enzyme CYP19A1 is so named because it is responsible for catalyzing the conversion of 19 carbon androgens to 18 carbon aromatic estrogens . The CYP19A1 is complex bound to the SER of the cells, and is localized in the ovaries, testis, placenta, and fat , brain , and bone tissues. CYP19A1 converts AN and TS to E1 and E2b, respectively, in the granulosa cells, which are somatic cells present in the ovaries and the placenta. Furthermore, CYP19A1 can convert TS to E2b in the leydig, seroli, and germ cells found in the testis. This process is crucial for the initiation of spermatogenesis and mitosis of spermatogonia . Both E2b and E1 can be further catalyzed into the third estrogen estriol. Estrogens are vital for the regulation of sex hormones, and are known to proliferate certain forms of cancers. For this reason, estrogens are a recognized target for inhibition of hormone depended diseases like breast cancer, and aromatase inhibitors (AIs) like letrozole and anastrozole are of interest as they will lower the levels of estrogens. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries in older people (Falls Among Older Adults). Falls become more common as people age because their bones become more brittle and their muscle mass decreases. In society today, the baby boomers are aging, which means falls will continue to increase in frequency. When a person falls, it doesn t just affect the victim; it affects everyone. In 2012, approximately $30 billion went towards medical costs that were associated with falls (Falls Among Older Adults). To prevent more people being injured and more money being spent, there has to be a change. In 2010, the California OsteoporosisPrevention and Education Act was established. This acts intent is to spread public awareness of osteoporosis, how it can be prevented, and to improve the way osteoporosis is treated. Half of all older women and 15 percent of older men will suffer a fracture related to osteoporosis (Stone). Reactions that are at equilibrium are constantly occurring in both directions. In order to test the consistency of the equilibrium constant we will change concentrations of the reactants to see how that affects equilibrium. Introduction Equilibrium can be reached when the forward and reverse reactions are occurring at the same rate. The standard deviation and mean can be more easily calculated by entering the data into excel and using their standard formulas. Also, down playing revenge, Robert Kennedy gave a speech called A Eulogy for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Immediately following the death of Dr. King, Kennedy pleads with the African American community and America to forgive this offense instead of taking revenge for King s murder. The final piece of media that discusses revenge does it in a different manor. Edgar Allen Poe writes about revenge in a short story called The Cask of Amontillado. The plot of this story is that of a man named Montresor desperately seeks revenge upon a colleague and eventually murders him by trapping him in catacombs deep underground. No matter what the circumstances, revenge should never be taken because men become controlled and destroyed by revenge, and revenge creates division among people. People are constantly being commanded by the temptation of revenge and demolished by the aftermath of taking it. I forced the last stone into place; I plastered it up. For more than a half century no one has disturbed them (Poe 8). Through the successor ... Gandhi was pitted against a whole discourse which the successor and virtually the whole country considered as the only rational mode of ordering life, be it individual or collective (Chandra 44). In every argument at least two people are involved. However, in many significant controversies or, even more so, in contestations of well accepted norms, the real debate rages not simply between two rational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Gandhi never precisely defines modern civilization , such a thing may indeed be impossible as the discourse already, to some extent, defines us, he does offer an analogy to understand its nature. As this kind of civilization exists in idealized forms in its literature and theories and realized forms throughout Europe, America, and their colonies, he considers these its identity. From this, one can infer its nature as one learns of a tiger. While, in theory, a tiger could change its character, this question completely misses the point that the very nature of the tiger is at fault (Swaraj 27 28). The preaching of modern civilization, as rhetoric, plus the real patterns of this kind of living comprise the object of his criticism. This marks one of his first important differences from the discourse he opposes. Where Gandhi considers the tiger in terms of its nature and as a pattern of behavior, the technical rationality of the discourse he is arguing against considers a tiger as a particular collection of biological specificities that may sometimes act in predictable ways, but is entirely mutable. While this summary of Gandhi makes him sound more like Plato than is fair, his arguments tend to look for deeper meanings where possible and permanent truths as opposed to the myopia of the discourse he is criticizing. Similarly, Gandhi claims that only men with mature thoughts are capable of ruling themselves (Swaraj 16), whereas modern civilization boasts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Humanity since the start has communicated through various types of writing. Writing has advanced from the stone age period of drawing into something that progressions a man s thought. History has shown that writing is essential in reaching the intended audience. For example, Biggs stated that, when an officer develops a reputation as a good report writer, others look to her or him as a mentor. The purpose of this experiment is to determine whether adding vegetable puree to cupcakes increases the moisture content. No one likes a dry cupcake, so if there is a way to add moisture, then this should happen. Another benefit to this experiment is that by adding vegetable puree it can be a healthier alternative as opposed to normal cupcakes. The experiment was interesting because baking is something that is done very often, and is always great to find ways to improve the food. The science behind the experiment was that when vegetables are added the moisture content increases, which makes for a better cupcake. The percent difference was 20%. The science behind this experiment was the chemistry within baking. The different ingredients in each batch of cupcakes had a different outcome. Each batch looked and tasted different. Facebook, twitter, Blackberry Messenger, and WhatsApp are few of them, following the steps of Friendster as the pioneer back then. Some features like chatting and video call are what people served with. However, chatting and calling are not the only things we can do in social networks. There is also trading as one of the most rapid activities people do other than those basic functions. As media with almost no charge needed in using them, social networks are very powerful tools of promotion for those who just start a small business, or want to run the business with limited time, access and budget. They can be used also to sell unused stuffs. Massive number of users, especially facebook, has created a big market and opportunities for sellers to trade their products. It is also very useful when someone wants to look for the things he needs and buys, without have to get the new one with higher price. Trading forums as a modified form of facebook group is a feature provided by facebook that allows its members to sell things. It s crazy good and John Green is a crazy good author. His writing style and technique show how experienced he is. Green portrays a lot of different people in his novels. He does seem to use many stereotypical characters, but I think he means to do it that way. I definitely like characters in novels that do fit into society. However, when you have people that you can fit into a certain category, it surprises you more when they do something you wouldn t expect. It is here that Leopold introduces the concept, radical then but widely accepted now, that the planet itself is a living organism and, through the natural cycles of earth, wind, fire and water, continually replenishes its own means of remaining alive. The human role in this Round River ecosystem is prominent, of course, and for thousands of years indigenous people depended directly on the bounty of this natural system to supply their needs of food and fiber. The Factor Model Developed By Costa And Mccrae Along with defining the underlying factors of musical preference much research has explored personality and has attempted to label different personality traits. Personality cannot be directly observed and quantified because it is an abstract concept with several different definitions and interpretations. For the purpose of this study, the five factor model developed by Costa and McCrae (cite) will be used. Simply put, the five factor model (FFM) is an empirical generalization about personality traits and how they are applied to people. The five major factors, labeled Openness (O), Conscientiousness (C), Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), and Neuroticism(N) have been extensively researched with diverse populations over the course of several decades (McCrae Costa, 2008). Although the FFM is not considered a theory of personality, it implicitly adopts the tenants of trait theory, in that it holds that individuals can be characterized in a relatively stable pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions (cite). The first factor, Extraversion, implies an energetic approach toward the social and material world and would includes traits such as sociability, assertiveness, and positive emotionality. Individuals who are high in extraversion are more likely to approach others at social gatherings and introduce themselves, or take lead in organizing group projects. Examples Of The Ultimatum In A Lesson Before Dying The Ultimatum When thinking of losing dignity, the first thing that might come to mind is getting caught screeching to a catchy song in your bedroom or bragging about getting a prize for an award but then ending up getting nothing. These things seem trivial compared to the stakes of losing your dignity in the novel A Lesson Before Dying written by Ernest Gaines. Throughout the novel, it emphasizes the fact that the ultimatum of making small changes and differences will positively affect someone s dignity. In the novel A Lesson Before Dying, dignity is something that every character in the book doesn t want to lose. This applies accordingly to Jefferson, a character who is falsely accused of murder and is given the death sentence. In the court, his lawyer publicly shamed him and called him an animal and a fool , and when accidentally calling Jefferson a man, he profusely apologized as if it were a sin. Due to this fact, Jefferson s goal is to become a man with dignity with the help of his cousin Grant before he dies. The small arms that the army did have were often defective and gunpowder was scarce. The standard musket used by the militia was inefficient in terms of fighting on the larger scale battle fields. Not only were the bullets completely inaccurate at 300 yards but they were also no longer lethal at that distance. Additionally, the rifles the militia used were their own and not available to the Continental Army as a whole. Therefore, the Continental Army began using the Brown Bess , the musket with bayonet attachment that the British Army used. They became available as the Patriots would capture British troops and were also shipped in from European manufacturers. Although it was highly inaccurate and was very time consuming in terms of reloading, considering it was used in mass in the linear formation of the ranks and file of the standing armies, it was highly effective in terms of the volleying of the rounds. At fifty yards, the Brown Bess would have an eighteen inch variance. However, in linear formations, this variance could be overcome and injury could still be imposed as soldiers were closely filed together. The musket weighed approximately 13 pounds and released a large amount of smoke after it was fired. Therefore, the linear tactics had to be employed to allow for repeated volleys, firing rank by rank, and thus unleashing more damage at approximately nine rounds per volley. Furthermore, the Brown Bess had the capability of attaching bayonets, which were also necessary on the battlefield. The bayonet was inserted down the barrel of the musket, which was imperative for close quarter hand to hand combat when time did not allow to reload the musket and the enemy was too close. Linear tactics also allowed Washington s use of artillery, although it was limited. Washington utilized light, mobile cannons and field artillery to push back the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then we shift our focus on compressed caching which is the technique that tries to decrease paging request from secondary storage. We know that there is a big performance gap in accessing the primary memory (RAM) and secondary storage (Disk). The Compressed caching technique intercepts the pages to be swapped out, compresses them and stores them in pool allocated in RAM. Hence it tries to fill the performance gap by adding new level to virtual memory hierarchy. This paper analyze the performance of virtual memory compression. Further to avoid various categories of cache misses we discuss different types of cache technique to achieve higher performance.
