Ruby Moon Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Ruby Moon" can prove to be a challenging endeavor. This task
requires a comprehensive understanding of the play or literary work, a keen analysis of its
themes, characters, and symbolism, as well as the ability to articulate one's thoughts coherently.
"Ruby Moon" is known for its complex narrative and intricate layers, demanding a careful
examination of the text to capture its nuances.
To begin with, one must delve into the intricacies of the plot, unraveling the mysteries that
surround Ruby's disappearance. This involves a meticulous examination of the characters'
motivations and actions, deciphering the symbolism that the playwright employs, and exploring
the underlying themes of loss, grief, and the search for truth. Moreover, the essay should reflect
a nuanced understanding of the dramatic elements at play, such as the use of symbolism,
dialogue, and stage directions.
Furthermore, the writer must navigate through the ambiguity and surreal elements of "Ruby
Moon," addressing the challenge of interpreting the play's unconventional structure and narrative
style. This complexity adds an additional layer of difficulty, as it requires the essayist to draw
connections between seemingly disparate elements and provide a cohesive analysis.

Culture of Fear Essay
Culture of Fear
Culture of Fear, by Frank Furedi, is a book that looks at how widespread fear
impacts Western cultures like the United States and Great Britain. Frank Furedi
believed that society tends to panic too much, as we actually enjoy an
unprecedented level of safety. I admit that Frank Furedi s novel is based upon a
novel concept, and an interesting one at that. However, Frank Furedi comes off to me
as little more than a fear monger and an intellectual elitist. His book, to me, seems
redundant more often than not. But sometimes part of college is learning about
points of view that you may not agree with, so I tried to maintain that perspective
when I read the book.
Our assignment for class was to read the book, and every ... Show more content on

I did not do a good job of putting my logs into a context for a broad audience outside
of my class. Nor was I required to do so. We were explicitly instructed to not write a
summary, but rather our thoughts on the book. My suggestion for those who would
like the book in context: read the book. Part of me wishes that I held back a little in
my writing, as I fear that my thoughts betray me in an unfavorable light. But these are
all unedited, one shot deals here. Oh, and on the off chance that Frank Furedi himself
reads this, then... um... loved the book. And don t read my position piece project.
Preface and Introduction
Upon reading the first part of COF, it made me realize what a widespread epidemic
widespread panic can be. We fear so much in this country, and not just safety issues.
We fear offending people by being too PC, we fear litigation, and that perpetuates
warning labels which foster even more fear. Fear is what gets politicians elected, and
fear can even be a hobby to adrenaline junkies.
Fear to me is a fascinating emotion. People take it as a negative, but to me it s there
for basic survival. Fear can also make people bond. After 9/11, the whole country
was in fear. Yet, for the first time I can remember, the whole country was a united one.

Shakespeare Authorship Controversy
While most people agree that Shakespeare did, in fact, write the plays many around
the world know of today, there are a few scholars and writers who believe that
Shakespeare was not the true author of the plays. This belief stirs what is known
today as the Shakespeare authorship question. While this belief has many reasons for
its existence, the main reasons have to do with the fact that there is little
documentation about the life of William Shakespeare. Lack of documentation about
things such as his education and travels led to theories being developed that others
had written Shakespeare s plays, rather than Shakespeare himself. These theories
have developed into what is known today as the question of Shakespeare s
authorship, which is even beginning to be taught in schools around the nation.
While the question of Shakespeare s authorship has argued for many years that
Shakespeare was not the author of the plays, there is extensive evidence that proves
that he was, in fact, the author of this own plays. He did, however, have some help
from other playwrights of the time. While it may be thought that those who believe
Shakespeare was not the true author of Shakespeare s plays are few and far
between, surveys such as one done by Education Life show that around 17% of
American professors that teach Shakespeare think that there is good, or possibly
good, reason to believe that Shakespeare was not the true author (Dutch). While this
significant number was from a survey of

The Battle Of The Alamo
Abstract The Battle of the Alamo was more than the name simply implies. It was
more than a battle between two opposing forces during the Texas Revolution. It was
a battle of competing political issues between the Mexican government and the
interests of the United States of America. It is difficult to truly understand the
significance of the Battle of the Alamo without describing the events that occurred
before. Before the actual Battle of the Alamo, the Mexican Army conducted a 13
day siege. The prelude of the Battle of the Alamo will help those unfamiliar with this
pivotal event understand how everything culminated in the 13 day siege and
eventual victory for the Mexican forces. The Alamo The building in San Antonio we
call the Alamo, originally was built as the chapel of the Mission San Antonio de
Valero. It was built in 1724 outside of San Antonio de Bexar, which is modern day
San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of this mission was to help convert Mexican Indians
to Catholicism. During this time, Mexicowas still a colony of Spain. In 1794,
construction was halted, rendering the compound incomplete. The compound later
adopted a new name when a group of Spanish Soldiers began using the compound.
The Soldiers hailed from a Mexican town called Alamo de Parras. The mission was
then called The Alamo (Ramos, 1992) . The Onset of Filibusters Before Texas was
officially a part of the United Statesof America, men known as Filibusters traversed
throughout America.

In an effort to finance the war effort, he designed the income tax withholding system.
It was supposed to be a temporary emergency measure but the government later made
it a permanent part of its peacetime taxation. He would always reget forcing
withholding on Americans. (Placeholder6). (Placeholder8)
Another job Friedman held was author, creator and narrator of the PBS TV
documentary series Free to Choose. and he worked as a columnist for Newsweek for
over 15 years authoring several books, technical academic papers and columns. His
books, Capitalism and Freedom and Free to Choose were best sellers. (Placeholder3)
He had also won the Noel Prize for Economic Science in 1976 (Placeholder2)
Mr. Friedman was influenced by Fredrich von Hayek a free market thinker and

We are totally prepared for the second option. Not a preferred option. But if we take
that option it will be devastating, I can tell you that, devastating for North Korea,
Trump said on Tuesday from the White House.
That s called a military option. If we have to take it, we will.
Trump said the time had come for the world to isolate the North Korean menace and

absurd, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said at a press briefing

Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho told reporters in New York on Monday that Trump

Holden Caulfield Censorship
In 1951, the public was introduced to sixteen year old Holden Caulfield, a
character created and narrated by J.D. Salinger, in his first novel, The Catcher in
the Rye. Throughout the book s lifetime, it has been a subject of constant debates
and controversies. The novel has only been the target of ridicule and criticisms, but
has also sparked intriguing discussion on its validity for use of high schools (Top
10 Censored Books). The Catcher in the Rye is banned due to meeting the
requirements for censorship. Censorship is the practice of officially examining
books, movies, etc., and suppressing unacceptable parts (Merriam Webster). The
novel centers around the life of the sixteen year old Holden Caulfield. The novel deals

readers unravel the personality of Holden, they estrange his personality for their own.
Consequently his intolerable personality is unacceptable in the society, and the book

Enthalpy Of Combustion Of Magnesium Lab Report
Conclusion: In this lab, a calorimeter was used to find the enthalpy of reaction for
two reactions, the first was between magnesium and 1 molar hydrochloric acid, and
the second was between magnesium oxide and 1 molar hydrochloric acid. After the
enthalpy for both of these were found, Hess law was used to find the molar enthalpy
of combustion of magnesium, using the enthalpies for the two previous reactions and
the enthalpy of formation for water. The enthalpy of reaction for the magnesium +
hydrochloric acid reaction was found to be 812.76 kJ. The enthalpy of reaction for
the magnesium oxide + hydrochloric acid reaction was found to be 111.06 kJ. These
two enthalpies and the enthalpy of formation for water were manipulated and added
together using Hess s law to get the molar enthalpy of combustion of magnesium. It
was found that the molar enthalpy of combustion of magnesium was 987.5 kJ/mol.
The accepted enthalpy was 601.6 kJ/mol, which means that there is a percent
difference of 64%. This percent difference is very high which indicates that this type
of experiment is very inefficient for finding the molar enthalpy of combustion of
magnesium. Most likely, a there are many errors in this simple calorimeter
experiment that make it inefficient for finding the molar enthalpy of combustion of
magnesium.
Error Analysis: One possible source of error that can affect the results was that a
mercury thermometer was used instead of an electronic one. The use of a mercury
Advantages And Disadvantages Of LDPC Decoders
This chapter gives an overview of the literature survey on LDPC block codes and
algorithm for LDPC decoder which gives a high throughput, better bit error rate
performance with low clock frequency. R G Gallager [1] in his paper, the overview
of low density parity check codes are presented. The parity check matrix specifies
these codes, which consists of few entries of non zero elements. The number of non
zero elements in row should be greater than the number of non zero elements in
column. The typical minimum distance of these codes are directly proportional to
block length for a fixed rate. A simple but non optimum decoding scheme operating
directly from the channel is described. As block length increases, complexity of
equipment and data... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

codes based on various factors such as encoding complexity, decoding computational
complexity, decoding hardware complexity, decoding memory requirements,
decoding delay, and VLSI implementation requirements are presented. LDPC
convolutional codes have been shown to be capable of achieving the identical
capacity approaching performance as LDPC block codes with iterative message
passing decoding. In addition, several interesting tradeoffs have been identified
between the two different types of codes with respect to VLSI
Organizational Behavior And Organization Behavior
Introduction What is Organizational behavior? Prior to this course, I never known
that much of what is organizational behavior an in which ways it can impact the
organization. Over the course my knowledge about Organization Behavior has
expanded. Organization behavior is the systematic study and application of
knowledge about how individuals and groups act within the organizations where
they work. In this paper, I will discuss the behavior in an organization for which I
was employed with for two years, which was not a well organized organization.

Two factors that were supposed to help did not help for me, organizational justice
and work relationships. A strong influence over our satisfaction level is how fair
we are treated. After losing one of our employees, my manager hired this lady she
been knowing for a while and she treated her with the most up held respect. I
started to notice the difference in how my manager would treat the both of us and
it made me feel like I was never really appreciate nor was I worthy of doing my job.
I think because of the age difference she thought I did not know much of anything,
so she would go to the older lady and have her doing things I would normally do.
Also, she started to cut my hours, due to the fact the other lady who came after me
stated she did not want to be part time but full time and she went on to grant her
wishes. That was not fair to me as a hard working individual, always on time,
opening and closing of the business, and was there by myself all the time with no job
security.
Two strong predictors of our happiness at work and commitment to the company
are our relationships with coworkers and managers. The people we interact with,
their degree of compassion, our level of social acceptance in our work group, and
whether we are treated with respect are all important factors surrounding our
happiness at work. The company I worked for was fairly small, no more than about
four people worked there. I was the youngest of them all and I
David Freedman How Junk Food Can End Obesity
Summary
The article How Junk Food Can End Obesity was written by David H. Freedman and
published in The Atlantic. The article is about how healthier junk food could actually
have more of an effect on losing weight than wholesome food. Furthermore, the article
goes more in depth about the health benefits and difference between the wholesome
foodand junk foods. The title contradicts itself in many ways. The author talks about
the problems with obesity but says that junk foodas a whole could possibly end a lot
of the obesity . In the second paragraph, Freedman states I scarf down all sorts of
raw vegetables like candy (needs a citation here). Throughout the article, Freedman
talks about the health benefits but does not talk about the negative effect. He
continuously describes the health benefits and what the food will do to help people
but when it comes to citing the other side, he does not seem to have that side, he
just puts out what he wants readers to see rather than coming at the issue with both
sides to show his ultimate goal in trying to end obesity . He talks about how he got
an inexpensive, healthy smoothie, but it is from McDonald s so that kind of
contradicts its self because to most McDonald s is perceived as unhealthy by many...

How Organizations Can Move Beyond The First Steps Of...
ABSTRACT
Change is best carried through by the many, not by just the hero leader. Ten
challenges to the initiation and sustaining of change are elaborated, illustrated by a
rich range of case studies and supported by a practical checklist.
We all know that change and innovation are of the essence for organisations today
and in future. The bad news, according to Peter Senge, is that most change initiatives
fail. The good news is that Senge and his co authors think they know why and what
to do about it.
Senge is the guru of the learning organisation whose previous book The Fifth
Discipline was hailed as a groundbreaking book about organisational transformation.
Senge and his co authors, all of them change experts, call this new book a Fifth
Discipline resource . The aim of the book is to show how organisations can move
beyond the first steps of corporate change and sustain the momentum.
The problems that cause the failure of change projects cannot be solved by more
expert advice, better consultants or more committed managers, say Senge and co.
They stem from our most basic ways of thinking. Unless these change, new initiatives
will only produce the same unproductive types of action. The fundamental problem is
that most change initiatives deal only with growth processes and not with the
limiting processes. We need to change our way of thinking so that we can understand
the forces that impede progress and develop strategies for dealing with them.

The three videos I choose to watch were Horse Power Farm, Lakeside Orchards,

Hero Vs Hero
Pericles once said The bravest are surely those who have the clearest vision of what
is before them, glory and danger alike, and yet notwithstanding go out to meet it.
More than 2000 years later, Pericles thoughts are still those of what today s hero is. A
hero today struggles, yet still manages to overcome these complications with an act of
bravery. Rather than thinking of themselves, a herois usually willing to put others
before themselves and show audacity in the face of difficulties.
First, Heroes are not thinking of themselves, but instead are showing acts of
kindness towards others. For example, after 9/11 a large amount of sailors showed
up to evacuate Manhattan, due to closed down airplanes and subways. These sailors
showed pluck because many of them believed they were a target for another attack.
Vincent Ardolino, one of the captains who responded to the call, recounts his
conversation with his wife before he leaves. After learning of his decision, Ardolino
s wife asks But what if they attack again. To this he responds Well then that s
something I have to live with (Boatlift Documentary) showing that he does not think
about what may happen to him, but about what may happen to others. Similarly to
his decisions is the mole rescue workers who dug people out of their homes after the

It is evident that labor unions are the main driver of minimum wage growth. Their
real purpose is to increase their monopolistic power and collective bargaining by
increasing insiders wages to the detriment of outsiders, who consequently face
fewer job opportunities. Furthermore, the scale effects of minimum wage are
discussed in this paper. Since wages are the main component of marginal cost, and
prices are a markup over marginal cost, higher wage inflation leads to higher price
inflation. Although labor and capital are not perfect substitutes, large scale
automation is anticipated if labor cost keeps rising above market equilibrium.
Besides, research has shown that one of the main causes of income inequality is the
mandate of minimum wage, resulting many discouraged workers who decided to
leave the labor force permanently and subsisted on welfare due to their obsolete
skills. Lastly, one solution to the efficiency of minimum wage could be raising local
minimum wage based on regional CPIs instead of raising minimum wage in all cities
in the U.S at the same time. Another solution could be in making minimum wage
hikes in line with marginal productivity of labor. When output rises due to higher
productivity, a higher wage will be

competitive edge does Panera Bread have if any? Panera is attempting to achieve a
longer lasting, more profitable competitive advantage by their capability to offer
unique or specialty type items. Also, their commitment to put there all into
everything they offer their customers. For example, Panera offers 4 different flavors
of coffee, dark and light roast, hazelnut, and decaf. What is important is the work
they put into making the coffee. We believe that coffee is sacred. And that making it
requires the utmost attention from the bean to the cup. So we roast our coffee beans in
The Hypothesized Finnish Population Bottleneck
The hypothesized Finnish population bottleneck is supported by archaeological
evidence that shows the number of artifacts significantly decreased at roughly the
same time as hypothesized. When taken together, the genetic and archaeological
records suggest that there may have been a population bottleneck. The hypothesized
populationbottleneck circa 4000 BP (2000 BCE) has been increasingly researched
over the past few decades, as genetic evidence has come to support the existing
archaeological evidence for such an event. Recent genetic testing has shown that
there is very low diversity on the Y chromosome, suggesting that the number of male
ancestral lineages was small, especially compared to the rest of Europe. This is
evidence for a population bottleneck that killed a large portion of the population at
some point in the past. In addition, there are genetic differences between eastern and
western Finlandthe presence of Finnish Disease Heritage, where certain genetic
diseases are found in proportions different from the rest of the Europe, as is common
in groups with decreased genetic diversity. Other arguments that explain the same
evidence in other ways have been proposed and no consensus has been reached on
which side is correct. The archaeological evidence is rooted in the number of artifacts
found that can be dated to before and after the hypothesized population bottleneck.
This research relies on the assumption that a higher number of artifacts dated to a

A Realist Analysis of the Cuban Missile Crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 is undeniably a major confrontation of the Cold
War. Lasting for 13 days it is arguably the pinnacle of the Cold War. This crisis was
a decisive factor in the United States (US) decision process of whether to engage in a
nuclear war with the Soviet Union (USSR). However the essential fault of both state
leaders (J. Kennedy and N. Khrushchev) which created the inevitable crisis was
miscommunication. Today we recognise actions taken by both states during the crisis
as consistent with a realist point of view. Realism holds great emphasise on the
obstacles enforced by human nature and the non attendance of an international
government. Creating international politics an area focused on power and state
interest.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This realist fundamental greatly aids in the miscommunications of states, as seen
with the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
An anarchic international system also creates a constant security dilemma between
states. In the theology of realism, there is no hierarchy above world powers to
instil rules and provide state protection. This lack of security provided by an
overruling power encourages states to seek security for themselves. States often
believe security lies in the accumulation of power, as seen in the Cuban Missile
Crisis. This often causes states to compete for power in order to maintain protection.
After the destruction of World War I article 1 26 of the Treaty of Versailles outlines
the creation of the League of Nations. This was an attempt at creating an international
government to which all states would answer to. However it relied on the willingness
of world powers to cede a degree of power to the League of Nations, which a realism
regime would not allow. The United States submission for protection to the United
nations during the Cuban Missile Crisis and their ineffectiveness, further supports the
notion of an anarchic international system. After the United Nations failure to protect
its members, the United States then created their own security in the form of a naval
blockade. A letter sent by Kennedy to Khrushchev, communicated to the USSR to
tread carefully.

The science of climate change and how combined cycle power plants will slow its
impact
Pascal Nguyen
School of Applied Science, RMIT University, Melbourne, Victoria 3021, Australia
Abstract
The increase in the emission of greenhouse gases has led to the increase in climate
change; the consequence of unchecked pollution, where carbon emissions caused by
human activity enters the air and causes negative impacts on the environment. One of
the many negative impacts could be the change in the current state of the ocean and
the melting of the cryosphere. One of the ways to combat the increase in climate
change may be the addition of the combined cycle power plants and how its efficient
ways will lower greenhouse ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these factors, ultimately, affect the distribution, abundance, breeding cycle and
migration of marine plants and animals that millions of people rely on for food and
income.
Cryosphere The plant s frozen areas are some of the most sensitive to climate
change, as climate change starts to increase, the mass loss of ice in these areas starts
to increase leading to major problems such as the major problem of water levels
rising.
One of the ways the world is trying to fight back the increase in the greenhouse gas
emission (GHG) is through the use of combined cycle power plants used to created
energy for the population. A gas turbine generator produces electricity and waste heat
is used to make steam to generate additional electricity through a steam turbine. The
gas turbine is one of the most efficient one of the conversion of gas fuels to
mechanical power or electricity,
Through the research of the science of climate change, it is important to look at this
topic as early as possibly can as it is the key to being able to change and make notice
the way human kind acts on climate change.

The Influence Of Digital Media On The United States Army
The Influence of Digital Media on the United States Army Digital media has
integrated itself into nearly every facet of the modern United States Army. For many
years, the Army has increased its dependency on the use of digital media in day to
day operations, training, communications, public relations, and administrative tasks.
Some people claim that we are too dependent on these technologies for our own
good. However, it has helped keep us the most powerful fighting force on the face of
the planet. This case study will look at five functional areas that digital media has
improved the Army: Administration, Training, Communication, Public Relations, and
Warfighting Capabilities. In each of these functional areas, we will explore how...

This meant the signed copy then had to be scanned back into the computer and then
emailed or uploaded into a database. Of course, the original paper copy still existed,
so the Army had not met the goal of being paperless yet. Finally, around 2012 the
Army acquired the technology that included the digital signature that would allow
them to truly go paperless. The technology had existed for five years, but the Army
s slow procurement and distribution process was one of the many lessons learned:
in the digital age, the Army had to move faster and be more flexible to change.
This paperless platform would allow the Army to overhaul all administrative
systems. The Publication Directorate stopped printing paper copies of manuals and
regulations, and posted the digital copies to an online library, where changes could
easily be updated. Evaluations could be completed online, signed online, and
submitted online. Leave forms and award recommendations could go from one user
to approver with the click of a button across the world if needed. And promotion
boards no longer needed to flip through endless reams of paper to select candidates
just click through digital copies of a file for a potential promotion candidate. The
Army is positioning itself for the future by reducing the number of people it needs to
do the administrative work of the past and train the future administrators in computer

Persuasive Essay On Go On Vacation
Finally, we get to go on vacation. I said as we got up to leave. My parents had
already loaded up the car and we were ready to go. All morning while I was getting
ready was the sound of suitcases being dragged around and the beeping of the car
as the trunk opened and closed. Then I heard all of my other seven brothers and
sisters get into the car. We of course have a huge car but even with that it s still a
little cramped. All of my brothers stunk up the car and it made the spilt milk smell
ten times worse. We had an hour drive to the airport and then another 5 hours on a
plane. My oldest brother, Andrew had already fallen asleep and my other 3
brothers were poking him and trying to annoy him but he was out cold. Because in
total there are ten of us it s super rare that we ever get to go on vacation. But my
dad just got a ton of extra vacation days so we finally decided to go on a vacation.
This vacation is going to be awesome, as long as no one gets lost, sick, hurt, or
complaints. Well maybe the complaining part won t happen but hey, I can always
hope. A long long hour later we arrive at the airport and park the car. This is the
dreaded part, trying to get everyone s things organized. My bag of course is a decent
size. Andrews seems a little small but then again he wears the same outfit every
day and probably won t need much else. Then my older sister Chloe s bag comes out.
It s huge! It seriously look like it was about to explode. But it s too big so she has to
The Use of Referenda Essay
The Use of Referenda
A referendum (plural: referendums or referenda) or plebiscite is a direct vote in
which an entire electorate is asked to either accept or reject a particular proposal.
This may be the adoption of a new constitution, a constitutional amendment, a law, the
recall of an elected official or simply a specific government policy.
There are many arguments for and against a referendum. Starting with the positive
aspects of a referendum, first of all, referendums are the most legitimate form of
political decision making since it s the vote of the people, which dictates the policy
of their government in relation to the issue in question. Basically, referendums are

Referendums not only stimulate the voters minds, but also make them more aware
about politics and the views and pledges of the government itself. National pride is
another advantage of referendums. Since the general public are being given a more
direct role to give their opinion I the decisions to run the country.
There are some arguments that are against a referendum. Referendums could be
used as an easier way to solve problems also it takes the pressure off the politicians
but this way could also be taking responsibilities away from the Mp s which
undermines the reason for elections and tells us that they are not doing their roles
that they have been assigned to do and we, the public are not the best of judges as
we have not as much as experience or that much knowledge because we could be
ignorant and be affected by the role of the media also be emotional on the issue.
Example, The death penalty. The media are strategically trained to change our
opinion. Another example is the referendum on abortion in Northern Ireland which
was influenced by the catholic priests.
Despite that the public has a say but the minority views are not being heard. The
majority of the votes are the conclusion of the referendum. However, this in some
ways is not fair because the small number of public that voted against the result, are
not being heard. We must

Oppressed Women In The 1800s
A Repressive Society
For years, women have fought to get equal rights and create a society were women
and men are treated the same way. During the 1800s, society viewed men as the
person that was in charge of everything in the house, and he owned everything his
wife had, while women were just an object that was supposed to obey and please her
husband. Society during the 1800s caused Chopin to write about the issues that
women were suffering to create a change.
In the 1800s, society oppressed women in every aspect of their lives. Women did
not have an option when it came to going to work because they were always forced
to stay at home. According to the Cobblestone, women They devoted their lives to
caring, cooking... for their family and did not have time to pursue a career (Chorlian
1). An example was a when an employer did not hire a woman because the role of
women was to be at home and the role of a man was to work for their family.
Women also did not have the same rights as men. According to Cobblestone, women
could not own property... could not vote or hold office and could not make public
speeches. (Chorlian 1). An instance was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women were controlled entirely by their husbands. According to Smith, women s
sole purpose in life was to find a husband, reproduced and then spend the rest of
their lives serving him (1). An instance was when a woman wanted to go out
instead of being at home; she had to ask permission to her husband to do that or
not. Furthermore, all of a wife s inheritance belonged to the husband when they got
married. As stated by Smith, when a woman was married, all of her
inheritance...would belong to her husband (1). An example was when a rich woman
got married, all of what she owned was given to the husband. It is shocking that it
was normal back in the 1800s for women to lose everything the had and forget about
their needs to please their husband for their entire
Pawn Sacrifice Film Analysis
The season of biopic is upon us as Pawn Sacrifice is the third film in past two
weeks that has concentrated on a real life story. Pawn Sacrifice is a movie about
the real life story of Bobby Fischer and his rise from a child prodigy to a chess
legend. Tobey Maguire is an unconventional casting as Fischer but grows onto the
audience as he delivers one of his strongest performance. Maguire is riveting in
portraying the ever abrasive and prejudicial Fischer. Fischer is unquestionably a
genius but a very difficult person to like and get along with, which Maguire gets
across brilliantly. The movie is set during Cold War era presents a fine view of the
link between the genius of Fischer and his mental illness.
Pawn Sacrifice opens with the most unflattering shot of Fischer as he tears through
his room trying to find the bugs he is sure are hidden by everyone out the get him

The game of the century between Fischer and Spassky could have provided some
really tense moments but sadly the film has a disappointing endgame and misses out
on a magical moment. Any ardent chess fan watching this movie would be
disappointed in the portrayal of Fischer as the movie focus more on his paranoia
and anti semitic views (Fischer himself is a jew). Viewers will be frustrated by the
movie as Zwick sets up the movie beautifully but fails to deliver on the endgame
and does not go for the kill. The movie is partly about Fischer and fails to identify
itself. Pawn Sacrifice is neither a Chess movie neither a biopic nor a documentary.
Sadly it turns out to be a one dimensional dramatization aimed at appeasing all.
However the movie does a wonderful job in showcasing that Fischer s true nemesis
were not the Soviets or Spassky but
Critical Analysis Of Bartleby The Scrivener
Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Willa Cather s Paul s Case present the
complexity of both the experience and interpretation of loneliness by providing two
antithetical lenses through which to view the title characters isolation. The end of
Bartleby, the Scrivener is consolatory in nature, for Melville s narrator
sympathetically transfigures Bartleby from a symbol of difference to one of
commonality. Melville implies that there is comfort to be sought in placing Bartleby
within a larger picture by emphasizing the narrator s sympathy for and affinity to
Bartleby. Conversely, the finalscene in Paul s Case is disconsolate, for Cather suggests
that the larger design to which Paul belongs is unsympathetic to his... Show more

Alternatively, Cather s Paul s Case suggests that an objective, impersonal reading is
appropriate by portraying Paul s story as a case . The medical connotations associated
with the term case distance Paul by implying that the events presented in the narrative
are unusual and are consequently under examination. Thus, the stories differentially
emphasize the requirement of a compassionate reading, as indicated by the language
of the titles. It is this incongruity in the stories presupposition of readerly sympathy
that the endings confirm and use to enhance the authorial attitudes.
The final scenes of Bartleby, the Scrivener and Paul s Case affirm the contrasting
positions set up by their titles through their opposing applications of hope, closure,
and consolation. In accordance with Melville s prescription of a sympathetic
reading, he indicates that there is hope to be found at the end of the story. Despite
the amazing thickness (Melville 536) of the jail walls within which Bartleby is
kept, there is grass that, by some strange magic (Melville 536), began growing. The
image of the grass blossoming in a setting that is not conducive to germination
provides hope that something may grow out of the narrator s experience with
Bartleby. In fact, the almost talismanic quality of the blooming grass implies that
there may even be hope for Bartleby, who by nature and misfortune (Melville 537)
was disposed to a pallid hopelessness (Melville 537).
Who Was To Blame For Princess Diana s Death
Some may say that when a person passes away it was for the better, while others
say it was a tragic accident. While in a car, Princess Diana and one of her lovers
lost their lives due to many circumstances. There are many conspiracy theories as to
how she died and whose fault it was, but with the evidence I have gathered, it is hard
to believe anything else could be blamed for her death. Although others choose to
believe that the paparazzi s flashing camera lights are what caused the driver to
crash, I believe the intoxicated driver, as well as the royal family, is at fault for the
loss of Princess Diana.
Growing up, Princess Diana was very wealthy and lived a lavish life. She and
Prince Charles met through Prince Andrew, Charles brother ( Prince Diana 1). As
they began to get older, Charles thought Diana was too young to consider as a

The theory that the royal family was to blame was because of this whisper

The Effects Of Social Cognitive Theory On The Behavior
Of...
Natural environments and outdoor settings are common places people go when
they want to relax or temporarily escape life s problems. Most often, when choosing
where to vacation, people commonly select a destination with picturesque sceneries
or serene landscapes. For this reason, natural outdoor settings seem like an ideal
place to incorporate recreational therapy activities for those with physical and
mental health issues. Recreational therapists should consider several aspects of their
patients lives when creating these outdoor therapy programs. This paper explores
the social cognitive theory and the behavioral, personal, and environmental
constructs that affect the behavior of veterans with PTSD and other psychological
health issues. There will be a brief discussion regarding the details of the study as
well as the author s findings. In particular, the role of the environment on one s
behavior will be examined. The social cognitive theory is a social psychologytheory
created by Albert Bandura that stems from the social learning theory. Social cognitive
theory suggests that there are multiple factors that shape and affect the behavior of an
individual. Personal, behavioral, and environmental factors can influence each other
and influence how an individual behaves. The hypothesis for this study was that
nature based leisure experiences would benefit military veterans by improving
psychological well being, social functioning, and life outlook. Various military
Home Education In Australia
Introduction
Home schooling is a type of schooling completed from the home, which is usually
instructed by the caregiver. Home schooling is slowly becoming more popular, both
nationally and internationally. A common conception which many people have about
home schooling is how this impacts on children s social development (Lebeda 2007,
p. 102). Realistically children who are home schooled and children who are main
steam schooled, are both open to potentially of having social abnormalities
(Romanowski 2006, p. 125). Due to the common debate of home schooling and how
this impacts on socialisation, this study will focus on three themes which have
emerged from the literature surrounding this topic. The themes include, the impact of
home schooling on social, emotional and psychological development, the efforts
which parents make to ensure their children are provided adequate time to develop
social skills and what activities and resources home schooled children are presented
with or have access too. The literature which has been sourced and referenced to
throughout this study, has been from mostly the United States and the United
Kingdom, therefore already presenting motivation for further research on this topic in
relation to Australia is needed. The study has determined a number of potential gaps,
where a need for further research is suggested.
Social, emotional and psychological development
Social, emotional and psychological impacts occur in all types of schooling and all
Differences And Differences Between Formal Education
And...
SOMEWHAT FIXED PARAGRAPHS Formal education and learning are two
different things. They both have their similarities and non similarities. Based on
personal experience, learning is when the instructor interacts with the students,
making them understand and develop skills from in and outside of the classroom. For
example, rather than having the teacher only show how to solve a math problem on
the board with hopes that you will understand it perfectly from then on. The teacher
would also interact with the students if they re still struggling, making them do
activities that could be with other students to solve problems together, and making
them think differently in various ways and connecting the students minds together.
This would not only enable the students to achieve good grades but they would also
understand the information better. Imagine this, if teachers stood up and talked to the
students face to face rather than just handing them packets more, imagine how better
the learning skills in students would develop. Another example would be making
something like experiments in science class would be more fascinating than looking
at a paper. Students are the future of this nation, if we want to see change then we
have to actually change our system of education. We can t change anything if we re
going to repeat what we did yesterday.
Formal education on the other hand, is learning in class only. As where informal
education would take place outside of the classroom. In formal

Liberty Bell
The Liberty Bell, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is an American bell of great
historic significance. The Liberty Bell is perhaps one of the most prominent symbols
associated with the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War. It is
one of the most familiar symbols of independence, abolition of slavery, nationhood
and freedom within the United States, and has been used as an international icon of
liberty. [1]
Its most famous ringing, on July 8, 1776, summoned citizens of Philadelphia for the
reading of the Declaration of Independence. Previously, it had been rung to announce
the opening of the First Continental Congress in 1774 and after the Battle of
Lexington and Concord in 1775.

During the 19th century, the bell tolled at the death of Alexander Hamilton (1804),

Washington s 100th birthday celebration (1832) and the deaths of Lafayette (1834),

In 1839, William Lloyd Garrison s anti slavery publication The Liberator reprinted a

It is not certain when the second crack appeared (the first after the recastings), but
the bell was repaired in February 1846. The method of repair, known as stop drilling,
required drilling along the hairline crack so that the sides of the fracture would not
reverberate.
On February 22, 1846, the bell was tolled for several hours in the tower of
Independence Hall in honor of George Washington s birthday.[5] When the bell was

Marketing Plan For A Delivery Service
Industry Organization PakSafe is a subcategory of the global Packing and
Shipping service industry. Since our primary focus is security, competitors in the
broader industry are to be considered as indirect competition. UPS, FedEx and
USPS operate in the Packing and Shipping industry and are examples of such
indirect competitors but can also be seen as potential partners. How are goods and
services produced and delivered to customers? What we have discussed so far is the
possibility of partnering with a delivery service. We have concluded from observing
the activities of our direct competition that we will be at an extraordinary advantage if
delivery services choose our product for their destination deliveries. As of now our
indirect competition is producing and delivering packaged goods independently
without a guaranteed secure landing zone . Our aim is to collaborate with these
companies to ensure safe shipment of our disassembled product. Where are they
produced? What is the level of integration? PakSafe has considered contract
manufacturing rather than in house production as a means of creating the
components of the product. After discussing and drafting blueprints, we will develop
relationships with these manufacturers to guarantee an accurate and timely process.
Once the components are made, they will be distributed and assembled either at the
manufacturing plant or at our physical location. This depends on the various costs
associated with either option,

Intervention System (Ripple Effects) According to SAMHSA, (2011), the Ripple
Effects is an online intervention that is used within the school system to curb
negative behaviors within all adolescent populations. The purpose of the intervention
is to correct/study academic achievement, resilience, mental health, and social
functioning (SAMHSA, 2011). There are approximately 389 computer lessons
teachers and students choose from to correct inappropriate behavior such as bullying,
fighting, absenteeism, alcohol abuse, and subpar academic grades (SAMHSA, 2011).
The students are shown a variety of question and answer scenarios, surveys, videos,

The Controversial Issue of Doctor Assisted Suicide
Imagine youu have just found out you are going to die within three months.
Recently the questions have been changed form, What am I going to do with the
rest of my life? to When should I kill myself ? With painful and crippling
diseases such as AIDS and cancer, and Alzheimers along with doctors such as Dr.
Kavorkian, some people are choosing death over life. Doctor assisted suicide
has been a very controversial subject in the past few years. Some states such
as Oregon have passed laws which allow doctors to prescribe lethal drugs to
patients who have less then six months to live.(Henin 1) Other state have taken
the opposite side. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I we take away this
right from people we are taking steps towards taking away other rights. Would
it be morally right to allow that person to suffer in pain in anguish through
some terminal illness? (Haney2) I completely agree with him. What rights will
they take away next?
One problem people fae when they are seriously ill is the lack of money.
There always weems to be one more bill waiting to be paid. They need money to
buy prescription drugs, pay for the doctor appointments, tests, and in some
cases lenghty hospital stays. Some insurance companies will refuse to pay for
certain test, or drugs, or even refuse treatment altogether.
Many patients can t aford to pay for these treatments, and even if they
coulld, most of the treatments only prolong life for a short amount fof time.
There is also no guarantee that the quality of life during these treatments
woulld be wourk the time and money. No one wants to die in debt and leave their
families with nothing but medical bills. If you don t wish to continue living
in pain, why should you have to pay for treatment that you don t want?
When someone is sicsk it is hard on the whole family. When someone is
dying they not only have to deal with their own pain and suffering, both
physically and mentally but also with the suffering that their friends and
family are
Was Malcolm X A Realist
Malcolm X s philosophy The whole world watched as the United States or America
come together then fall apart then come back together once again. The Civil
Rights movement helped black people in many ways. One way the Civil Rights
movement helped black people was by giving them equal rights for them. Another
reason was because Malcolm X was a realist which means that he sees things from
his perspective. Martin Luther King Jr. is a very loyal and true to himself man in
all kinds or ways. Malcolm X is also a very loyal and well respected man in all
cases. I think that Malcolm X had a better philosophy because he was a realist, he
founded a group based on his beliefs, and he made communities work together. One
or the reasons Malcolm X s philosophy was better for America in the 1960 s was
because he was a realist. A realist is somebody who sees things the way they really
are. In Document K Malcolm X doesn t favor violence but he condones it. Also in
Document I it says that communication in all angles is needed to work together. He
believes that in order to be a community we need to communicate... Show more

Also it says in Document G that you have to learn how to do things on your own
sometimes, but you can get help in your community from others by using
communication. All though children can not get the right education, sometimes
Malcolm X founded a group to help those children to tell them about history and not
to tell them lies. He also encourages them not to listen to the lies that are being fed to
them because they are not true. This all shows that if children are being told lies
about our own history then they shouldn t be taught at
Story Of Bottled Water
What is your opinion on the topic after reading/viewing the selection? Do you agree
or disagree with the author? Why or why not?
I watched The Story of Bottled Water . This video s main goal is to persuade you
not to buy bottled water. The producers of the video gave examples showing a bad
light on bottled water. One example highlighted how water bottles were sitting in
landfills in India and polluting the world. I agree with the fact about how it is bad
that the bottles are causing pollution. At another point in the video they said that
being seen drinking out of a bottle of water was getting to the same level as being
seen smoking while pregnant. I disagree with that statement. I think that is very
extreme and just not true. My opinion on this topic after watching the video is that
the problem is not the bottles of water and their companies, it is the factories in India
that are not actually recycling the bottles. That seems to be the main problem.

After reading this poem I realized that it was about when the author was little and
was discriminated against because of the color of his skin. He described being
hungry when he was a young boy and not having much food to eat was just normal
to him. He saw no problem with it because he thought that was just life because that
was all he had ever known. His experiences were limited because he was so young
and did not have knowledge outside of his
Early Human Progress In Ancient China
As in Mesopotamia and Egypt, early human progress in India and China rose in
stream valleys. Between 3000 B.C. furthermore, 1500 B.C., the valleys of the
Indus River bolstered a prospering human progress that amplified several miles
from the Himalaya to the bank of the Arabian ocean. Archeologists have found the
remaining parts of more than a thousand settlements in this locale. Two of the
remains, around 400 miles separated, were locals of what was once where the real

urban communities for many years. History specialists call it Harappan, or the Indus

Around this time they had built up an estimation framework, which what we utilize
today. The Indus stream valley additionally made weapons from bronze, however,
they were exceptionally tranquil, so they didn t have numerous weapons, and their
weapons weren t as cutting edge as the Mesopotamian human advancement. The
Indus Valley individuals were socially composed. They had the primary healing
facilities, wide avenues, open and private wells, channels, showering stages and
supplies. Also there is no recorded information about their government in the Indus
river valley, however, we can assume their government promoted skills in
mathematics because their religion appears a prominent role in their daily life, and
the Indus cities were well planned, so it seems that they had a well organized
government with religious
Symbolism In Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
Each author has their own special technique that they use in their work that makes
their novel unique. Symbolism is a common technique that is used by authors all
over the world. It is an artistic style, consisting of images and indirect thoughts to
express a certain idea or emotion. Authors use symbolism to add depth and meaning
to a story. (Blogger p1) When a symbolic feature is put into a story, the readers begin
to think about the literal meaning and then compare it to the symbolic meaning that
could be interpreted from the text. Symbolism displayed throughout the novel
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapiportrays different views of the novel; historical,
childlike views. The novel takes place in Iranduring the 1980 s which marked the
beginning of political and religious confusion throughout the country. Marjane
Satrapi lives with a family who supports revolutionaries and attends political
protests where she obtains knowledge about the world and the social and political
problems that are occurring around her. Since she was introduced to these situations
at such a young age, she grew up as a strong and independent woman, wanting to
make the world a better place. The author, Marjane Satrapi tells the story and adds in
the symbolic aspects to share her stories of her growing up during one of the largest
revolutions in Iran s history and to share her views, feelings and opinions throughout
that time period. The symbolic use of color throughout the novel, the veil the women

  • 2. Culture of Fear Essay Culture of Fear Culture of Fear, by Frank Furedi, is a book that looks at how widespread fear impacts Western cultures like the United States and Great Britain. Frank Furedi believed that society tends to panic too much, as we actually enjoy an unprecedented level of safety. I admit that Frank Furedi s novel is based upon a novel concept, and an interesting one at that. However, Frank Furedi comes off to me as little more than a fear monger and an intellectual elitist. His book, to me, seems redundant more often than not. But sometimes part of college is learning about points of view that you may not agree with, so I tried to maintain that perspective when I read the book. Our assignment for class was to read the book, and every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did not do a good job of putting my logs into a context for a broad audience outside of my class. Nor was I required to do so. We were explicitly instructed to not write a summary, but rather our thoughts on the book. My suggestion for those who would like the book in context: read the book. Part of me wishes that I held back a little in my writing, as I fear that my thoughts betray me in an unfavorable light. But these are all unedited, one shot deals here. Oh, and on the off chance that Frank Furedi himself reads this, then... um... loved the book. And don t read my position piece project. Preface and Introduction Upon reading the first part of COF, it made me realize what a widespread epidemic widespread panic can be. We fear so much in this country, and not just safety issues. We fear offending people by being too PC, we fear litigation, and that perpetuates warning labels which foster even more fear. Fear is what gets politicians elected, and fear can even be a hobby to adrenaline junkies. Fear to me is a fascinating emotion. People take it as a negative, but to me it s there for basic survival. Fear can also make people bond. After 9/11, the whole country was in fear. Yet, for the first time I can remember, the whole country was a united one. Chapter 1: The Explosion of Risks First of all, this book is similar to some things I m learning in social psychology. It wasn t any suprise to me when I
  • 3. Shakespeare Authorship Controversy While most people agree that Shakespeare did, in fact, write the plays many around the world know of today, there are a few scholars and writers who believe that Shakespeare was not the true author of the plays. This belief stirs what is known today as the Shakespeare authorship question. While this belief has many reasons for its existence, the main reasons have to do with the fact that there is little documentation about the life of William Shakespeare. Lack of documentation about things such as his education and travels led to theories being developed that others had written Shakespeare s plays, rather than Shakespeare himself. These theories have developed into what is known today as the question of Shakespeare s authorship, which is even beginning to be taught in schools around the nation. While the question of Shakespeare s authorship has argued for many years that Shakespeare was not the author of the plays, there is extensive evidence that proves that he was, in fact, the author of this own plays. He did, however, have some help from other playwrights of the time. While it may be thought that those who believe Shakespeare was not the true author of Shakespeare s plays are few and far between, surveys such as one done by Education Life show that around 17% of American professors that teach Shakespeare think that there is good, or possibly good, reason to believe that Shakespeare was not the true author (Dutch). While this significant number was from a survey of

  • 5. The Battle Of The Alamo Abstract The Battle of the Alamo was more than the name simply implies. It was more than a battle between two opposing forces during the Texas Revolution. It was a battle of competing political issues between the Mexican government and the interests of the United States of America. It is difficult to truly understand the significance of the Battle of the Alamo without describing the events that occurred before. Before the actual Battle of the Alamo, the Mexican Army conducted a 13 day siege. The prelude of the Battle of the Alamo will help those unfamiliar with this pivotal event understand how everything culminated in the 13 day siege and eventual victory for the Mexican forces. The Alamo The building in San Antonio we call the Alamo, originally was built as the chapel of the Mission San Antonio de Valero. It was built in 1724 outside of San Antonio de Bexar, which is modern day San Antonio, Texas. The purpose of this mission was to help convert Mexican Indians to Catholicism. During this time, Mexicowas still a colony of Spain. In 1794, construction was halted, rendering the compound incomplete. The compound later adopted a new name when a group of Spanish Soldiers began using the compound. The Soldiers hailed from a Mexican town called Alamo de Parras. The mission was then called The Alamo (Ramos, 1992) . The Onset of Filibusters Before Texas was officially a part of the United Statesof America, men known as Filibusters traversed throughout America.

  • 9. Enthalpy Of Combustion Of Magnesium Lab Report Conclusion: In this lab, a calorimeter was used to find the enthalpy of reaction for two reactions, the first was between magnesium and 1 molar hydrochloric acid, and the second was between magnesium oxide and 1 molar hydrochloric acid. After the enthalpy for both of these were found, Hess law was used to find the molar enthalpy of combustion of magnesium, using the enthalpies for the two previous reactions and the enthalpy of formation for water. The enthalpy of reaction for the magnesium + hydrochloric acid reaction was found to be 812.76 kJ. The enthalpy of reaction for the magnesium oxide + hydrochloric acid reaction was found to be 111.06 kJ. These two enthalpies and the enthalpy of formation for water were manipulated and added together using Hess s law to get the molar enthalpy of combustion of magnesium. It was found that the molar enthalpy of combustion of magnesium was 987.5 kJ/mol. The accepted enthalpy was 601.6 kJ/mol, which means that there is a percent difference of 64%. This percent difference is very high which indicates that this type of experiment is very inefficient for finding the molar enthalpy of combustion of magnesium. Most likely, a there are many errors in this simple calorimeter experiment that make it inefficient for finding the molar enthalpy of combustion of magnesium. Error Analysis: One possible source of error that can affect the results was that a mercury thermometer was used instead of an electronic one. The use of a mercury

A strong influence over our satisfaction level is how fair we are treated. I started to notice the difference in how my manager would treat the both of us and it made me feel like I was never really appreciate nor was I worthy of doing my job. I think because of the age difference she thought I did not know much of anything, so she would go to the older lady and have her doing things I would normally do. Also, she started to cut my hours, due to the fact the other lady who came after me stated she did not want to be part time but full time and she went on to grant her wishes. That was not fair to me as a hard working individual, always on time, opening and closing of the business, and was there by myself all the time with no job security. Two strong predictors of our happiness at work and commitment to the company are our relationships with coworkers and managers. The people we interact with, their degree of compassion, our level of social acceptance in our work group, and whether we are treated with respect are all important factors surrounding our happiness at work. The company I worked for was fairly small, no more than about four people worked there. I was the youngest of them all and I

Furthermore, the article goes more in depth about the health benefits and difference between the wholesome foodand junk foods. The title contradicts itself in many ways. Throughout the article, Freedman talks about the health benefits but does not talk about the negative effect. He continuously describes the health benefits and what the food will do to help people but when it comes to citing the other side, he does not seem to have that side, he just puts out what he wants readers to see rather than coming at the issue with both sides to show his ultimate goal in trying to end obesity . • 16. How Organizations Can Move Beyond The First Steps Of... ABSTRACT Change is best carried through by the many, not by just the hero leader. Ten challenges to the initiation and sustaining of change are elaborated, illustrated by a rich range of case studies and supported by a practical checklist. We all know that change and innovation are of the essence for organisations today and in future. The bad news, according to Peter Senge, is that most change initiatives fail. The good news is that Senge and his co authors think they know why and what to do about it. Senge is the guru of the learning organisation whose previous book The Fifth Discipline was hailed as a groundbreaking book about organisational transformation. Senge and his co authors, all of them change experts, call this new book a Fifth Discipline resource . The aim of the book is to show how organisations can move beyond the first steps of corporate change and sustain the momentum. The problems that cause the failure of change projects cannot be solved by more expert advice, better consultants or more committed managers, say Senge and co. They stem from our most basic ways of thinking. Unless these change, new initiatives will only produce the same unproductive types of action. The fundamental problem is that most change initiatives deal only with growth processes and not with the limiting processes. We need to change our way of thinking so that we can understand the forces that impede progress and develop strategies for dealing with them. One of the

Their real purpose is to increase their monopolistic power and collective bargaining by increasing insiders wages to the detriment of outsiders, who consequently face fewer job opportunities. Furthermore, the scale effects of minimum wage are discussed in this paper. Since wages are the main component of marginal cost, and prices are a markup over marginal cost, higher wage inflation leads to higher price inflation. Although labor and capital are not perfect substitutes, large scale automation is anticipated if labor cost keeps rising above market equilibrium. Besides, research has shown that one of the main causes of income inequality is the mandate of minimum wage, resulting many discouraged workers who decided to leave the labor force permanently and subsisted on welfare due to their obsolete skills. Lastly, one solution to the efficiency of minimum wage could be raising local minimum wage based on regional CPIs instead of raising minimum wage in all cities in the U.S at the same time. Another solution could be in making minimum wage hikes in line with marginal productivity of labor. When output rises due to higher productivity, a higher wage will be

The Hypothesized Finnish Population Bottleneck The hypothesized Finnish population bottleneck is supported by archaeological evidence that shows the number of artifacts significantly decreased at roughly the same time as hypothesized. When taken together, the genetic and archaeological records suggest that there may have been a population bottleneck. The hypothesized populationbottleneck circa 4000 BP (2000 BCE) has been increasingly researched over the past few decades, as genetic evidence has come to support the existing archaeological evidence for such an event. Recent genetic testing has shown that there is very low diversity on the Y chromosome, suggesting that the number of male ancestral lineages was small, especially compared to the rest of Europe. This is evidence for a population bottleneck that killed a large portion of the population at some point in the past. In addition, there are genetic differences between eastern and western Finlandthe presence of Finnish Disease Heritage, where certain genetic diseases are found in proportions different from the rest of the Europe, as is common in groups with decreased genetic diversity. Other arguments that explain the same evidence in other ways have been proposed and no consensus has been reached on which side is correct. The archaeological evidence is rooted in the number of artifacts found that can be dated to before and after the hypothesized population bottleneck. This research relies on the assumption that a higher number of artifacts dated to a certain

Lasting for 13 days it is arguably the pinnacle of the Cold War. This crisis was a decisive factor in the United States (US) decision process of whether to engage in a nuclear war with the Soviet Union (USSR). However the essential fault of both state leaders (J. Kennedy and N. Khrushchev) which created the inevitable crisis was miscommunication. Today we recognise actions taken by both states during the crisis as consistent with a realist point of view. Realism holds great emphasise on the obstacles enforced by human nature and the non attendance of an international government. Creating international politics an area focused on power and state interest.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This realist fundamental greatly aids in the miscommunications of states, as seen with the Soviet Union and the United States during the Cuban Missile Crisis. An anarchic international system also creates a constant security dilemma between states. In the theology of realism, there is no hierarchy above world powers to instil rules and provide state protection. This lack of security provided by an overruling power encourages states to seek security for themselves. States often believe security lies in the accumulation of power, as seen in the Cuban Missile Crisis. This often causes states to compete for power in order to maintain protection. After the destruction of World War I article 1 26 of the Treaty of Versailles outlines the creation of the League of Nations. This was an attempt at creating an international government to which all states would answer to. However it relied on the willingness of world powers to cede a degree of power to the League of Nations, which a realism regime would not allow. The United States submission for protection to the United nations during the Cuban Missile Crisis and their ineffectiveness, further supports the notion of an anarchic international system. After the United Nations failure to protect its members, the United States then created their own security in the form of a naval blockade. A letter sent by Kennedy to Khrushchev, communicated to the USSR to tread carefully.

The medical connotations associated with the term case distance Paul by implying that the events presented in the narrative are unusual and are consequently under examination. Thus, the stories differentially emphasize the requirement of a compassionate reading, as indicated by the language of the titles. It is this incongruity in the stories presupposition of readerly sympathy that the endings confirm and use to enhance the authorial attitudes. The final scenes of Bartleby, the Scrivener and Paul s Case affirm the contrasting positions set up by their titles through their opposing applications of hope, closure, and consolation. Despite the amazing thickness (Melville 536) of the jail walls within which Bartleby is kept, there is grass that, by some strange magic (Melville 536), began growing. The image of the grass blossoming in a setting that is not conducive to germination provides hope that something may grow out of the narrator s experience with Bartleby. Natural environments and outdoor settings are common places people go when they want to relax or temporarily escape life s problems. Most often, when choosing where to vacation, people commonly select a destination with picturesque sceneries or serene landscapes. For this reason, natural outdoor settings seem like an ideal place to incorporate recreational therapy activities for those with physical and mental health issues. Recreational therapists should consider several aspects of their patients lives when creating these outdoor therapy programs. This paper explores the social cognitive theory and the behavioral, personal, and environmental constructs that affect the behavior of veterans with PTSD and other psychological health issues. They both have their similarities and non similarities. Based on personal experience, learning is when the instructor interacts with the students, making them understand and develop skills from in and outside of the classroom. For example, rather than having the teacher only show how to solve a math problem on the board with hopes that you will understand it perfectly from then on. The teacher would also interact with the students if they re still struggling, making them do activities that could be with other students to solve problems together, and making them think differently in various ways and connecting the students minds together. This would not only enable the students to achieve good grades but they would also understand the information better. Imagine this, if teachers stood up and talked to the students face to face rather than just handing them packets more, imagine how better the learning skills in students would develop. Another example would be making something like experiments in science class would be more fascinating than looking at a paper. Students are the future of this nation, if we want to see change then we have to actually change our system of education. We can t change anything if we re going to repeat what we did yesterday. Would it be morally right to allow that person to suffer in pain in anguish through some terminal illness? (Haney2) I completely agree with him. What rights will they take away next? One problem people fae when they are seriously ill is the lack of money. There always weems to be one more bill waiting to be paid. They need money to buy prescription drugs, pay for the doctor appointments, tests, and in some cases lenghty hospital stays. Some insurance companies will refuse to pay for certain test, or drugs, or even refuse treatment altogether. Many patients can t aford to pay for these treatments, and even if they coulld, most of the treatments only prolong life for a short amount fof time. • 43. Was Malcolm X A Realist Malcolm X s philosophy The whole world watched as the United States or America come together then fall apart then come back together once again. The Civil Rights movement helped black people in many ways. One way the Civil Rights movement helped black people was by giving them equal rights for them. Another reason was because Malcolm X was a realist which means that he sees things from his perspective. Martin Luther King Jr. is a very loyal and true to himself man in all kinds or ways. Malcolm X is also a very loyal and well respected man in all cases. I think that Malcolm X had a better philosophy because he was a realist, he founded a group based on his beliefs, and he made communities work together. One or the reasons Malcolm X s philosophy was better for America in the 1960 s was because he was a realist. A realist is somebody who sees things the way they really are. This video s main goal is to persuade you not to buy bottled water. The producers of the video gave examples showing a bad light on bottled water. One example highlighted how water bottles were sitting in landfills in India and polluting the world. I agree with the fact about how it is bad that the bottles are causing pollution. At another point in the video they said that being seen drinking out of a bottle of water was getting to the same level as being seen smoking while pregnant. I disagree with that statement. I think that is very extreme and just not true. My opinion on this topic after watching the video is that the problem is not the bottles of water and their companies, it is the factories in India that are not actually recycling the bottles. That seems to be the main problem. Examine the title of the poem. What do you think it means? Read the poem several times, then look at the title again. What do you think it means now? ...
