At OHSU s Bone Marrow Transplant unit (BMT) and at the outpatient center for
Hematologic Malignancies (CHM) clinic, BMT patients are not fitted for N95
masks, yet they are being asked to wear them. Therefore, the current issue is whether
or not the unfitted N95 masks are actually more beneficial than surgical masksfor the
patients. This is because we are asking them to be worn while not fitting them. I
selected this topic because I noticed there were inconsistencies within the practice
of each nurse regarding the use of N95 masks versus surgical masks. When I
probed deeper, I realized that some of the nurses didn t know OHSU policy and
were using best practice from another institution, which stated to use surgical masks

Growing up in Miami I have gotten accustomed to the cold and impersonal
interactions attributed to living in a big city. Although I enjoy all of the
opportunities that are presented by metropolitan areas, it disheartens me to know

My Culture Partner And I Met Through Facebook
My culture partner and I met through Facebook. A few people posted in our Class
of 2019 Facebook page about this project, and how they needed a partner. I was
looking through them and saw that a girl named Layla commented saying she was
eligible to be interviewed. As soon as I saw that, I messaged her asking her about
it. I was nervous at first because I didn t know how she would react. Her reaction
to being asked was excited. She told me she was interested in it and would love to
