I am enjoying my current position as a Field Auditor. Since I work for the City of Rochester, I am
an internal auditor but each company s auditing department will function differently and conduct
audits unique to their business. For the City, this means that many of the audits conducted are to
ensure compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness of City departments, programs, and contracts.
Based upon our research and analysis, we may highlight deficiencies uncovered through our sample
and make recommendations. By conducting these audits I am gaining a better understanding of
City operations and learninghow to properly compile workpapers. Personally, I did not have much
auditing experience when I started my position, so I have been learning a lot. Do you have any
auditing experience or have you taken Auditing with Dr. Barlow yet? I found that the class provides

Although it definitely ties in elements of traditional accounting, as an auditor, your work is not
solely accounting applications. Some people may like this but others do not, it really depends
on the person. If you re just looking at gaining experience, there is the tax industry as well. Since
I am looking to get as much experience as possible, I will also be working for Davie Kaplan CPA
s this tax season. This is a great way to network with people in the industry and potentially obtain a
permanent position. Many of the larger accounting firms hire for tax positions although they require
their employees to work a ton of hours.

The one thing that humans have a hard time understanding is that animals do not think like
humans at all. Their mentality is living off of food, shelter, and sex. Culture Clash really helped
me realize just how confusing an animal s behavior really is. It s not impossible to get to an
animal s level of behavior using Pavlov s operant and classical conditioning, which is fascinating. A
