Anarchy vs. Autocracy
Anarchy v. Autocracy
Liberty vs. Security; both are seemingly broad terms, but due to current events, circumstances have
occured resulting in an infringement on liberty because of issues regarding national security thus,
creating problems for citizens and politicians alike. Liberty is best defined as a concept that
identifies the condition in which an individual has the right to act according to his/her free will[1].
Security is the degree of protection from danger, loss, or criminals[2]. The problem lies in that
there are many different views on what the government s role on the proper balance between the
two should be. The proper balance between liberty and security is an equilibrium unless in specific
events or time periods where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In certain events, extreme security is needed, and should be completely justified. In order to
establish what is right or wrong without corruption, the public should have the final say on what
needs to happen because they are ultimately the ones who will be affected by these new
enforcements. Similar to presidential elections, a national vote should happen during a time of
peace, on what precautions the government needs to take during these stressful time periods. The
purpose of the election is to get an adequate sample of what the citizens believe their ratio of
security to liberty is. A difference would be the removal of the Electoral College. Instead of
having the views censored by elected officials, it needs to be the raw wishes of the population.
The significance of having it during peace time would be that during emergencies, people get
frantic and desperate. Decisions would inevitably be clouded by fear and overall craziness. Ben
Franklin once said that, Passion never governs wisely, and this certainly holds true to a person s
reaction during war or difficult moments. However, the government will react to what the people
want, and will come up with laws or actions that would be beneficial to our society. For example,

Hedda Gabler By Henrik Ibsen
Women have always been a point of interest in the eyes of many readers in all time periods. They
are seen by society as mysterious, beautiful, sometimes outspoken, and so much more. However,
women of today s day and age don t hold a candle next to the Victorian Era s Hedda in the play
Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. Hedda Gabler, although a heinous person at heart, is an extremely
powerful woman who uses that power to mask her own fears. So why is it that Hedda Gabler
displays herself in such a manner? Within this essay the reader will learn how Hedda acts, the
forms in which she controls those around her, in what ways she gets exactly it is that she wants,
when and how she wants it, as well as what her fears are and where they may have stemmed
from. In the play, the author, Henrik Ibsen, describes Hedda as a women caught up with only the
aesthetic aspects of life. She cares not for the feelings or well being of those around her, but
rather how those same people view her. As any woman in this time period would desire,
especially a prestigious one being born from a general, a spotless and well rounded reputation is
essential in obtaining respect , gaining power, and going on about simple day to day living. As
described by one scholar, Their work ranged from the grand sweep of politics to the minutiae of
everyday life (Maitzen). Often, Hedda would put aside responsibility and other tasks to focus on
her beauty and how she was viewed. Her beauty was one of the many

Specificity
Specificity: There are general or global demands that all human beings need to have general
strength and power, good posture, core stability, mobility, and stability at all of the major joints.
These components are all requirements for a healthy and functional body, especially in an
athletic environment. All human beings squat as every single day activity. Picking up a box?
Getting up or sitting down? Starting your lawn mower? That is a single arm row, using both
back and core muscles to generate rotational power. Carrying groceries in from the car? That is a
farmer s walk, which places a huge demand on the core and upper back (Wilmore Costill 2005).
The concept of Specificity simply states that training bouts must go from highly general training
sessions to highly specific training sessions. The concept of Specificity also implies that athlete
become better at a particular and specific exercise or skill, athlete must perform that highly specific
exercise or skill (verywell).
The training sessions must be specific not only to athlete s sport/skills but to athlete s individual
abilities (recoverability, tolerance to training stress, outside obligations, etc) (fitstar).
Specificity also means that to become better at a particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Athletes are working multiple muscles in a squat. Single joint exercises tend to isolate a muscle.
Using the legs extension (athlete s quadriceps) are doing the work, which can lead to muscle
imbalances and possibly injury. However, multi joint exercises are much more likely to simulate
real life, or real sports, movements. In real life we use many muscles and joints in very rapid
succession to move. We should keep this in mind when we select our exercises during training

Causes Of Deforestation In Madagascar
Deforestation on the island of Madagascar, an island off of the coast of Africa, has caused major
destruction of habitat for species and a reduction in numbers of plants and trees. The island used to
be largely covered in dense forests which were home to many species of lemur and other animals.
Now, в… of the island is bare and uninhabitable for these animals. Deforestation on the island
progresses at around 150,000 to 200,000 hectares of forests cut down each year. Because of this
many plants and animals that only occur in the wild on Madagascarare endangered. The problem
has effects on both abiotic factors as well as the biotic factors, which include animals and plants.
Some of the abiotic things impacted include lakes and shorelines. One of the main causes for the
deforestation is slash and burn agriculture. In this technique, small areas of forest are cut down
and everything is burned to clear the area and introduce some nutrients into the ground. Then, rice
is planted and grown for a few years. After some time, all of the nutrients are depleted from the
ground and rice cannot grow well anymore. Because of this, farmers have to continuously cut
down more and more forest. The reason that this is such a common thing on Madagascar is
because most people are poor and need food, so they resort to this destructive technique that leaves
land barren and unable to support growth.
The impacts on biotic factors are obvious. One third of the island s 1,600 unique species of plants

Comparison Of The BookThe Stepford Wives And Get Out
Georgios Araujo

Technology can be our friend or our worst enemy. In Forbes The Stepford Wives and in Peele s
film, Get Out, both directors have a central idea of reconstructing our society for it to best suited
for us, as individuals. Unless you knew going in that both of these movies were in the genre of
Horror, you wouldn t be expecting it, more in The Stepford Wives than in Get Out. However the
interesting part about both of these works is that they both have an oddly similar theory behind
them, and it leads the viewer to believe that The Stepford Wives could have been an inspiration for
Get Out, unless you already knew that after hearing Peele s interview stating that it was. Both of the
works use technology and science in a way that by the end of both works the viewer is shocked, at
least I was.
For some brief background, in Forbes The Stepford Wives, Joanna Eberhardt and her two
children are uprooted from the busy bustling streets of Manhattan to the quiet streets of Stepford.
Where the crime rate is zero and so is the poverty rate, her husband insists this is the best place to
raise a family. But almost immediately, like an instinct, Joanna is uncertain of the women living in
Stepford, she feels as though they are living on a different planet. They are overly obsessed with
keeping a clean house, and pleasing their husbands, all whom are members of the Men s
Association. All of their husbands are executives and very

The Problem Of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the study of how people think, feel, and act as a result of being present
among others. At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined
or implied presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to
portray how the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be
found almost anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines
that may offer an illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR),
a non profit membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syrias bloody civil war.
With more than four million people who have fled the country thus far, it has easily been named
one of the worst refugeesituations in history. Millions more have also been displaced within
Syria. Although we rarely hear from the people inside, NPR was able to air an interview it
conducted with one of the citizens who lives in the broken country. Saeed al Batal, a
photographer and filmmaker who did not use his real name for security reasons, reveals how
horrific the experiences currently are in Syria. In this paper, the transcript of the interview will be
used portray how, even when situations are clearly appalling and catastrophic, the presence of
others effects people s contributions and willingness to help. It will also be used to psychologically

The American Culture Of Strict Conformity Accounts
An American culture of strict conformity accounts for the rise of the phenomenon known as the
Red Scare, as well as its widespread nature and prominent power. The Red Scare was complicated
and a result of many different aspects of American culture. However the American culture in the
1950 s was one of strict conformity. This conformist society, created in the late 1940 s was created
by many early discoveries that uncovered Communist members as Soviet spies. There arose a
prevalent belief that anyone who thought differently was unpatriotic. This conformist nature of
American society thus resulted in few organizations fighting for social justice. The Communist
party therefore attracted a wide range of liberals from different aspects of life. Joseph McCarthy
himself, along with many other governmental officials, was able to institute anti communist laws
and practices under the pretense that an unwavering conformity was the American goal. The
conformist nature of American society in the 1950 s created one of the most powerful anti
communist crusades and allowed for a dominant Red Scare.
McCarthyism rose to power so quickly in the late 1940 s and the early 1950 s because the
perception of an internal Communist threat had just enough plausibility to be convincing .
Americans feared that communists who would overthrow the government were a realistic threat .
During World War Two there were many Soviet spies that had infiltrated many aspects of American
covert operations. Alger

1.INTRODUCTION:
The approach of route cache in DSR protocol is used to stock a route that is learned from the
source node and to avoid needless route discovery operation in each time the data packet is to be
transmitted. It is needs to start again the route discovery mechanism in reactive on demand routing
protocols, as it is very costly in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The route cache may be containing the stale routes which can affect for the performance of DSR
protocol. The stale routes in the route cache of DSR protocol may take several adverse effects such
as long delay, packet loss. Route cache can be divided to the three different strategies cache
structure, cache capacity and cache timeout.
The DSR (Dynamic Source Routing) routing protocol dependent on the cache memory for every
node to store the routing path from source to destination. It is a new algorithm using DSR routing
cache technique to improve the routing between mobile nodes to reduction the effect of mobility in
link transmitting that can solve link broken problem.
2.PREVIOUS WORK DONE:
[W. Lou and Y. Fang 2002] proposed that the stale route in the cache of the DSR can be removed
by the Adaptive link cache procedure and then compare it with the path of cache structure. [B. Y.
He, 2002] proposed Active Packet to resolve the problem of stale route in cache route in DSR
protocol. It depends on the link cache structure, which the active packet travels around the
network, and gathers routing information that has found by network topology. [J. Chen 2010]
proposed Tiding Active Packets (TAP) to improve the active packet method. [A. K. Dwivedi 2009]

Comparing A Doll s House and Oedipus Rex Essay
Comparing A Doll s House and Oedipus Rex
Ibsen s drama A Doll s House , serves as an example of the kind of issue based drama that
distinguishes Ibsen from many of his contemporaries. The play s dialogue is not poetic, but very
naturalistic, and the characters are recognizable people. Given the sense of modernity which the
play possesses it seems unusual to compare it to a Greek tragedy produced more than two thousand
years previously.
On closer examination however, there are certain similarities between the way in which A Doll s
House is plotted and a tragedy such as Oedipus Rex. Both Oedipus and A Dolls House depict
disastrous events that occur to two very different characters. At the start of Oedipus, we... Show

Oedipus flees from Corinth falsely believing that Polybus and Merope are his parents, he hopes that
this will make the oracle s prediction that he will murder his father and sleep with his mother
impossible. This virtuous act is of course a massive error since it leads him to his real parentsIt is
interesting to note that Nora only borrows money in A Doll s House in an attempt to save the
life of her sick husband. Her act of kindness misguided as it may be, is the catalyst for the events
that follow. The way in which the actions of both Nora and Oedipus backfire in such a tragic
way is an example of what in Greek literary tradition is known as Peripitia. This word translates
as a reversal and to gain an understanding of the tragic condition it is important that the theme of
reversal is examined. In Oedipus there are many examples of reversal, when actions have the
exact opposite effect to that which were intended. When Oedipus sends for the shepherd whom he
hopes will allay his fear, over his parentage, his arrival has the exact opposite effect. In this respect
the tow plays are very similar they employ many of the same dramatic devices to achieve their
goals.
Reversal is key to both plays since by the end of both plays the social conditions of both Oedipus
and Nora have changed completely. It is interesting to note that unlike a Shakespearean drama in
which the tragic hero always dies, neither Oedipus nor Nora die.

DISCUSSION
The data presented in the study showed trends in antibiotic resistance patterns of methicillin
resistant and methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus in KYAMCH at Enayetpur, Sirajgonj,
teaching and referral hospital of Bangladesh.
Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the major pathogens associated with
community acquired serious nosocomial infection because these strains generally show multiple
drug resistance which limits treatment possibilities (7).
In this study, the isolation rate of MRSA on gender basis revealed more from male (54.5%) than
female (45.5%). Persons younger than 30 years of age were found to be more MRSA carrier
112 (23%) and less found among below 10 years of age 50 (10%) (Figure 2). Our age and gender
based findings did not agree with those findings obtained by other studies where no significant
variations were noticed. (8). Population of this study is villagers of working group (30 years) who
are financially important. Through medical care they became subject of this study. On the
contrary, other studies are carried out in the city where all residents irrespective of gender and age
are equally receiving medical care.
In our study, the highest number of Staphylococcus aureus isolates were from throat swab
samples 104 (49.5%) followed by pus 44 (20.9%) (Figure 5 a). Similar study of Tamilnadu in India
as high as 35.7% of MRSA strains were obtained from throat swabs and 33.6% of strains were

William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying Essays
William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying
In his book, As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner pioneers new and interesting literary forms. His most
obvious deviation from traditional novel writing was the new style of narration in which he used all
the main characters as the narrator at one point or another. This allowed the reader to gain insight
into the character s thoughts, and also to prove very interesting and entertaining. Faulkner also
ignores all boundaries that sane people have placed upon the English language to keep it readable.
Faulkner forges his own set of rules for syntax that allow for a very choppy yet elegant stream of
consciousness in the character s narration. Lastly, Faulkner makes incredible leaps away from
established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faulkner does a great job of varying the attitudes and styles of the characters as they narrate in
turn, but this creates a confusing atmosphere, especially in the first few chapters. For instance,
the first section is narrated by Darl who talks about Jewel, Tull, and Cash like we are supposed
to know who they are. The next section is by Cora who mentions Addie, Kate, and Mrs.
Lawington, and talking about issues with each one of them, and we still don t know who Darl is.
As you could imagine, this creates quite a bit of confusion in the first part of the book, until the
reader can sort through the characters, but by that time, a quarter of the book is gone and needs to
be reread. An upside of this method, however, is that it allows the author the full use of the minds
of his characters, and he can create a more clear picture of their thoughts.
Another peculiarity of the narration of this book was the idea of stream of consciousness. Faulkner
uses his words to try to express what the characters are thinking at that moment. The thoughts tend
to ramble a little, with one idea leading onto another, and many of them not making sense unless
some assumptions are made of past events. This form of narration is made possibly by the use of
fragment sentences, run ons, and many other strange

Big Band Music In The 1940 s
This article is about the Big Band Sounds. Big band music got its origins in Swing and Jazz. This

Decision Making That Permits Influence An Investment Abroad
INTRODUCTION:
The world is changing more rapidly; consequently organizations are promptly the way they operate
as well to ensure survival and growth in high velocity turbulent markets. To succeed an
organization has to anticipate, react and even lead in terms of strategic decisions to enhance
profits. It is pertinent to understand that a series of systematic decisions is undertaken before an
investment abroad is carried on with. According to Sundaram Stewart 1992 there is a system of
decision making that permits influence which refers to the firm s ability to coordinate and control
endogenous organizational variables and quasi endogenous market variables (coupled with
exogenous factors (e.g exchange rates, regulations, tariffs and political set up). Investment
decisions are critical for the performance of an organization. From a micro perspective, they are
fundamental for the growth of individual companies, increasing their efficiency by reducing per
unit costs, enhancing profits by tapping new market segments and exploiting more resources. At a
company s level, an investment decision abroad is much more complicated and requires more
research; it is more of a multi criteria process taking into account numerous factors. These are
primarily economic and risk factors, political and social environment and government regulations.
Naturally, the effects of these factors on decisions of individual companies may vary significantly.
Each of the risk has been separately defined

The post WW1 militaries had to make immediate changes in their postwar organization in order to
increase their effectiveness and readiness. For example, the German army developed mechanized
and amour units called Panzer divisions, which during the WW2 crushed their opponent armies. In
addition, they focused on redesigning the officer core in order to be more innovative and have
critical thinking skills. After invading Poland, the Germans made AAR, and made immediate
organizational changes and created the Squads as a more effective unit. The Soviet Union made
quality AAR from the WW1 and other so called Small Wars before the Great War and used the
gathered experience to make peacetime innovation into their military organization in which they
developed motorized and mechanized units. Furthermore, militaries were focused on aviation and
as an example is the development of air force as an independent and their use in combined armed
concepts, which was initiated by Giulio Douhet, an artillery officer who realized the importance
of Air power. Giulio added the airpower component as an asymmetric piece that will change the
war and forced the idea that to have command of the air it means that it will achieve victory. The
US developed and organized amphibious units to conduct Plan Orange which was developed during

Remembering Charles Dickens Charles Dickens is a famous author who wrote numerous books
which were enjoyed by many throughout the years. His books are known xquisite characters and
real life settings. Charles experienced difficult times as a young boy ( Charles Dickens par. 7).
These difficult times followed him throughout his life. He uses ideas from these struggles to
express his feelings through the books he writes. The many struggles of Charles Dickens early
childhood greatly influenced his writing, making him a great novelist from the Victorian times.

8). When his father was released from prison, Charles went to Wellington House Academy where
he Broussard 2 attended school from 1824 to 1827 until his dad was imprisoned again for debt.
He expresses these feelings of despair and loneliness in his novels and short stories. Many of
these pieces, like Great Expectations and Oliver Twist , reference the poor and the oppressed
(Merriman par. 5). Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Caroldisplays his feelings about being poor
during Christmas time. Charles references Scrooge s nephew as a poor child, and Scrooge asks
his nephew what he has to be merry about when he doesn t have any money (Dickens, A
Christmas Carol 4). The forces that inspired Dickens to create a powerful, impressive and
enduring tale were the profoundly humiliating experiences of his childhood, the plight of the
poor, and their children during the boom decades of the 1830s and 1840s (A Christmas Carol
par. 5). Charles family grew up poor and Christmas time is typically not a good time for people
who do not have money. Dickens used his story A Christmas Carol to voice his feelings about
the poor during Christmas time while he was growing up ( A Christmas Carol par. 4). Charles
Dickens uses people from his life as character references for his books. For example, Charles uses
his childhood memories of his father as one of the character references in A Christmas Carol .

Essay On Static Function
For the application of cross gradient function, the coupled parameter models are assumed to have
similar structures. Therefore, the structures of true models are designed in the similar way in the
following examples, and the physicochemical relationship between the medium elastic and
electromagnetic properties are not strictly defined. In this situation, the elastic and
electromagnetic properties are negatively associated in example 1 and positively associated in
examples 2 and 3. The initial models are critical for the solution of FWI problem. In practice, the
initial P wave velocity and permittivity model could be recovered by velocity analysis, and the
initial conductivity model could be provided by electrical resistivity tomography. In... Show more

Synthetic recorded data for GPR and seismic FWI are generated with the true models. The
values of the three initial models constantly increase with depth. In this example, 12 sources and
130 receivers are located on the surface with a spacing of 2.0 and 0.2 m, respectively. The
positions of the sources and receivers are shown in Fig. 2. The source type is a Ricker wavelet
with a center frequency of 200 Hz in the seismic FWI and 20 MHz in GPR FWI. Seven
frequencies are inverted in both the seismic FWI (100, 130, 160, 190, 220, 250, and 280 Hz) and
GPR FWI (4, 6, 8, 10, 13, 16, and 19 MHz). Fig. 3 shows the individual and joint inversion results.
In the individual inversion, there is a significant structural difference between the three inverted
parameter models. The general shapes of the two anomalies only can be observed in the P wave
velocity model (Fig. 3a). In contrast, the features of the two cross shaped anomalies are faintly
constructed in the permittivity model (Fig. 3c) and are absent in the conductivity model (Fig. 3e).
The sedimentary layers are not clearly recovered in all the models, especially in the conductivity
model (Fig. 3e). These parameter models were integrated using the joint FWI approach. The
structural similarities between these parameter models are significantly enhanced in the joint
inversion. The P wave

The Influence Of Writing
Okay, so clearly this kid has no idea what MLA format is. I don t get it. Did he even look at the
rubric? It s there for a reason. I stretched my arms out behind me and blinked my eyes hard,
trying to re wet them. This assignment was turning into the bane of my existence, and I was
only two paragraphs deep. I had made a deal with myself, no more than four hours of grading on
the weekends. So much for that. I looked across my desk at the pen holder/old mug and grabbed
a new red pen. My current one was only half full of ink and this short story was going to need a
novels share of red. I started marking away, and soon the page was thoroughly doused in red ink.

I pushed the paper to the side and reached into my top drawer for my bottle of Advil, eager to
make the throbbing in my temples subside. Don t take pills on an empty stomach. The last thing I
needed was nausea on top of everything. I pulled out my bottom desk drawer, the secret snack
drawer, and pushed the old chip bags and empty candy wrappers aside, searching for something to
nibble on. Yummy, a half eaten granola bar and mystery Tupperware. I took my chances with the
granola bar, deciding against the food poisoning that would come with week contents of the
mystery Tupperware.
After cramming the stale granola bar into my mouth I pulled the wrinkled pages of the essay back
in front of me.
The throbbing in my head intensified with every poorly constructed sentence. At least it doesn t get
worse. The consistency is nice...consistently bad. I had to give the kid points for creativity. The
prompt had been to write a story with two of the characters; a mother and child. This was certainly
the most entertaining rendition. Every other story had been about an angst filled argument between
a mom and her teenage kid, but at least they had known which to to use.
I finished marking up the page and tallied up the score in accordance to the rubric I had provided.
The final grade came it a solid 63%, a failing grade. I thought back again to the creativity and effort

Essay on Kinghthood
Knighthood
Knighthood and chivalry. The terms are often confused, and often pointlessly distinguished. The
term knighthood comes from the English word knight (from Old English, servant or boy) while
chivalry comes from the French chevalerie, from chevalier or knight. In modern English, chivalry
means the ideals, virtues, or characteristics of knights. But in actuality, the phrases quot;orders of
chivalry quot; and quot;orders of knighthood quot; are essentially synonymous.
Succinctly, a knight was a professional soldier. Professional armies had replaced the old citizens
armies of the distant past. This trend was reinforced by the appearance in the 8th century of the
stirrup, which made mounted men much more powerful and turned ... Show more content on

On the contrary to this not so balanced father, son relationship, heredity enters the knightly class in
the 13th century. The son of a knight is automatically a squire, thus making him eligible for
knighthood on the basis of his ancestry.
Men who were free provided military service, either personally or (if they were rich enough)
using others services. Thus, a man who held his estate in knight s fee owed service as a knight to
his lord. A more sizeable vassal, when called by his liege, would summon his knights and form a
contingent in his liege s army.
In the late 13th century, a decision of the Parliament in Paris forbade the count of Artois from
making unfree men into knights without the king s consent; interesting to note, the two men who
had been so knighted were allowed to remain knights subject to the payment of a fine. Knighthood
did not become a hereditary class in England, and instead the knightly class (those eligible to be
knights) became the nucleus of the gentry.
As a military institution, knighthood was on the wane from the late 13th century on. The end of
feudal society meant that sovereigns gained a monopoly on war making, and the old form of
military service owed to one s immediate lord became obsolete. Kings still summoned their knights
for wars, but increasingly they turned to other sources of manpower, namely mercenaries whose
use became common in the 14th

my adult life. When we first made acquaintance, he was just an innocent boy; living on Tataouine.
From there, we grew together to become more like brothers. It sickens me to figure out that he has

Disparities Of The 2014 Reported Burglary And Theft...
This paper analyses the disparities of the 2014 reported burglary and theft statistics between the,
Auckland City District (ACD) and WaitematДЃ District (WD). The statistics are reported by the
National Police Headquarters as of April 2015 (New Zealand Police, 2015). Therefore, Police
reporting practices will be discussed to point out the strengths and weaknesses of the reported data.
Secondly, the Routine Activities and Social Disorganisation theories will be used to provide an
explanation for the differences in recorded burglary and theft statistics. Lastly possible policy
solutions to reduce the amount of crimereported to and recorded by Police will be discussed. As it
appears, burglary and theft offences are higher amongst the Auckland City district than the
WaitematДЃ.These results are consistent with the Routine Activity and Social Disorganisation
theories as there are more suitable targets, less collective efficacy and more incapable guardians
within the ACD due to structural deficiency.
The ACD cover the areas within Herne Bay, Freeman s Bay, St Helier s, Onehunga and Avondale,
including Waiheke and Great Barrier Islands (NZ Police: Police Districts). The WaitematД

Essay On Brownsville Museum
On October 21, I visited the Historic Brownsville Museum on 641 E. Madison Street. Admission
costs $4 for adults, $3 for children and seniors, and $2 for college students with ID proof.
The museum was a complex rather than one building. The complex was surrounded by a black

build as the Southern Pacific Depot freight line. It ran from Brownsville to Edinburg until 1952.
Then, the loading/unloading building began restoration to become a museum. Finally, the Historic

Young people need to make a change in their diets, along with watching what they eat and how
much they eat. When ordering food in restaurants and other eating locations, individuals get
served large portion of foods. In order to significantly reduce the rate of obesity, people and
businesses along with the government need to make a change. The obesity epidemic can be
changed by lowering the price of healthy foods. In the online article Eating better for less by
Roland Sturm and Derek Yach it reveals that So far, the results are compelling. Lowering the
costs of healthy foods in supermarkets not only increases the amount of fruits, vegetables and
whole grains that people eat, but it also seems to reduce their consumption of less nutritionally
desirable foods. Using data from the grocery clerks scanners, we estimate that a 25% rebate on
healthy foods raises the share of healthier foods (11). In Eating better for less online article it

By stating that society is trapped in continual crisis through the terrifying nonlinear twenty four
/seven news, readers understand the importance of narrative. As a result, Rushkoff successfully
makes his point that narrative collapse ruins society as something simple like news stories become
mere points of horror. Rushkoff argues society, in efforts to respond to the collapse of narrative,
attempts to control the chaos by forcing connections. They don t work their magic through linear
plot, but instead create contrasts through association...The beginning, the middle, and the end
almost have no meaning.
Rushkoff introduces a chilling thought that our current response to the collapse of narrative erases
the very meaning of everything. The concept alarms audiences, Rushkoff uses this rhetorical
strategy of fear to captivate their attention in order to persuade them of the importance of narrative.
Rushkoff succeeds in explaining the importance of narrative collapse through the comparison to
forced connections. Apocalyptic dangers surely lie ahead as society desperately tries to control the
chaotic collapse of narrative by forcing connections. Through the lens of fear, Rushkoff successfully
demonstrates how severe consequences that result as society disregards time; natural cycles and

As the strategic marketing analyst for IndyCar, I believe it is in our best interest to orchestrate
IndyCar Series races in the United States, with one single game in a foreign market; preferably a

it was not successful. According to Ferrell Hartline, CART feared they were loosing the interest of
Americans and began races in foreign countries and they put too much focus on promoting top
foreign drivers as CART stars (2014, p.442). Furthermore, stars should happen naturally, to alter the
media to showcase foreign stars should solely depend on talent not propaganda.

Archetypes in Siddhartha
In analyzing the novel Siddhartha, we find that Herman Hesse has incorporated many literary
techniques to relay his message to the reader. By using various writing approaches to convey the
theme of the novel, Hesse appeals to the readers senses and aides them in grasping the novel.
Included in these techniques are symbolism, metaphor, allusion, and archetypes. He compares
many issues that Siddhartha faces to everyday objects and forces, making the noveleasier to
understand. Three of the main archetypes
Hesse uses to get his point across are trees, rivers, and sleep. One of the more obvious symbols
used in the novel is a tree. Cross culturally, it is extremely common for trees to represent wisdom.

In several instances is the novel, Siddhartha falls asleep (the reader should also note that this
usually occurs under a tree) and wakes up anewed with a new outlook on life.
Then he had fallen asleep, and on awakening he looked at the world like a new man.... Never had
a sleep so refreshed him, so renewed him, so rejuvenated him! (76)
Just as in the traditional English story A Christmas Carol, where Scrooge goes to bed and wakes
up a new man after a series of nightmares, many authors have used the metaphor of sleep to show
emotional growth in their characters. Another case in point is Kate Chopin s book on a woman s
self discovery appropriately titled The Awakening.
Just like these authors, Hesse proves to be no stranger to this choice of symbolism. He illustrates
quite effectively and allows the reader to notice and reflect on Siddhartha s personal development
on more than one level. It is easy to see that many cross cultural themes were brought into
Siddhartha.
Through writing on more than one level, Hesse has created a literary masterpiece that is extremely
deep and meaningful. The application of the symbols he chose makes some of the themes in the
novel easier to see and decipher. Using the archetypes that he did makes the novel one that many
civilizations will read and understand for generations to come. Works Cited

Metamorphosis Analysis
Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis is about the dehumanization of a man named Gregor, when he
wastes his life monotonously repeating the same task every day to support his uncaring family. The
lack of purpose in his life is an example of absurdist fiction, a genre of fictional narrative that uses
satire and irrationality to explore the human experience of meaninglessness. Furthermore, The
Metamorphosisuses aspects of magical realism, such as transformation of common, distortion of
time and loss of identity, featured in other magical realism works such as Axolotl and The

His dad was an abusive father and businessman, Kafka s siblings represented Gregor s sister and
his mother was the only who cared and supported him. Satire and the irrationality of life are key
aspects of The Metamorphosis and are what makes it absurdist fiction.
Kafka utilizes distortion of time, an element of magical realism in The Metamorphosis to show
how Gregor is losing touch with humanity, similar to how Julio Cortazar uses it in Axolotl .
Distortion of time shows the reader that the way Gregor lives in his world is different from the
way we live ours, Magical realism...tells its stories from the perspective of people who live in our
world and experience a different reality from the one we call objective (Rogers 1). Time is absent
in The Metamorphosis , Often he just lay there the long nights without sleeping at all, scrabbling
for hours on the leather. (112) this is significant because it shows how Gregor after turning into an
insect, experiences reality differently. Before turning into an insect, Gregor s only purpose in life
was to support his family and did not need to keep track on time. After his transformation, because
he could not support his family anymore, he lost his purpose in life; without being able to use his
time to support his family, he could only sit around and rot. Kafka adjusts the flow of time to show
the reader the perspective of a man with no purpose. Axolotl is similar in this fashion, being in the

Freudian Analysis Of ZuГ±i Tale
Freudian Analysis of ZuГ±i Tale Sigmund Freud, the famed Austrian neurologist, pioneered the
process of psychoanalysis, which was intended to be a clinical method to treat neurosis and other
forms of psychopathology. However, it has also found use in analyzing stories, dreams, and
myths. Freud s method of developing latent thoughts through manifest content will be
demonstrated in the following paper, which focuses on a ZuГ±i folktale called The Ugly Wild
Boy Who Drove the Bear Away from South Eastern Mesa. The story is about a young boy who
lives with his grandmother near a village called K iГЎkime. This boy is unlike others in that he is
frightfully ugly ; with scars all over his body, he suffers from distorted facial features and
abnormal growths on his head. One season it rains heavily in the Southeastern Mesa near K

Raining is a phallic symbol with relation to urination, and in the context of the story, it also

of fertility. Whether they stand for fertility or specifically breasts, the datila fruit, piГ±on nuts, and
grass seed represent desirable items to the boy and the villagers. Unfortunately, the bear prevents
the village from gathering the fruit, which drives the story s main conflict. A towering, violent
animal, the bear is the principle foe of the boy, and further affirms the notion of the simpleton hero

Churches Should Not Be Divided
Why Churches Should Not Be So Divided
One of the core values in Christianity is to love one another like Christ loved us, but us as
Christians can t even seem to love each other in our own churches. Let alone other churches.
In a world already divided so greatly, we as Christians should strive to establish more unity and do
away with so much division within our own churches.
Let s face it, Christians don t necessarily have the best rep. There are major news stories of
Christian bakers refusing to bake a cake for a same sex couple. You can watch videos such as this

But most doctrine. People are certainly concerned about how the stigma of not being tied to one
certain set of beliefs affects the church as a whole. I believe that this is a problem within churches
with denominations as well. I currently attend a Baptist Church. I attend Trinity Baptist Church to
be precise. I grew up in the Baptist church and am a born again Christian familiar with the beliefs
and ideology of the Baptist branch of Protestant Christianity. So you may be wondering, why I
would be criticizing the very branch of religion I associate myself with. Or why I criticize any
denomination of Christianity in general. It is not as much that I am against the idea of people
having different perspectives of the same religion, or different ways to tell the same story, if you
will. It is more or less my wish to ease or even put an end to the compartmentalization of ourselves
within our own denominations and churches. A post from Starting Point puts in
Walker 3 into great words, During Jesus ministry, he prayed that his future followers would exhibit
a special kind of unity that would be a testimony to the world. So what happened? Rather than unity,
harmony, and cooperation, Christians are often known for their squabbles and divisions. Even
when they appear to get along, they divide up into hundreds of different groups, churches, and
denominations. For those who are not Christians, it seems

Sickle Cell Trait
Sickle Cell Trait (SCT) and Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) can be a serious problem for some people,
but at the same time, it can also be very beneficial to some people. Having SCT, means that you
do not have the disease, but are a carrier for the trait. People who have SCT are usually
unaffected and live normal lives. On the other hand, people who actually have SCD, can end up
dying for having it, and are forced to live irregular, difficult lives.

disease that mosquitoes can carry is a deadly disease that can be hard to avoid in some
circumstances. There are so many people in Africa that have SCD and SCT, because people
with the trait/disease, are immune to malaria, which is a big benefit of having the trait/disease.
With malaria not affecting the people with SCD/SCT, they are able to keep reproducing and
having kids that have the trait or disease. This is why it seems that the places with malaria have
such a high amount of people with SCD/SCT. In conclusion, sickle cell disease and sickle cell
trait have their advantages, but at the same time have many other downfalls that come along
with having one of the two. People with sickle cell disease have hard lives, and have trouble
doing everyday things like participating in a gym class, or doing any type of sports or physical
activity. Although, people with only sickle cell trait, have the ease of not having to worry about
malaria, but also run the risk of passing the disease to their children. Sickle cell disease is a serious
problem worldwide, and it helps to be informed about

The Japanese Internment Camps
Finding your Identity
After the attack on the Pearl Harbor in 1941, a surprise military strike by the Japanese Navy air
service, United States was thrilled and it provoked World War II. Two months after the attack on
Pearl Harbor, U.S. President FDR ordered all Japanese Americans regardless of their loyalty or
citizenship, to evacuate the West Coast. This resulted over 127,000 people of Japanese descent
relocate across the country in the Japanese Internment camps. Many of them were American
Citizens but their crime was being of Japanese ancestry. They were forced to evacuate their homes
and leave their jobs and in some cases family members were separated and put into different
internment camps. There were ten internment camps were placed in California, Idaho, Utah,
Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arkansas (History.com). However, until the camps were fully
build, the Japanese people were held in temporary centers. In addition, almost two thirds of the
interns were Japanese Americans born in the United States and It made no difference that many of
them had never even been to Japan. Also, Japanese American veterans of World War I were forced
to leave their homes and relocate in the internment camps. Japanese families in internment camps
dined together, children were expected to attend school, and adults had the option of working for
earning $5 per day. The United States government hoped that the internment camps could make it
self sufficient by farming to produce food.

The Dark Knight Figures In The Dark Knight Rises

English 1C
30 August 2017
(WORKING TITLE) Batman s duality as hero and hazard reflect how the capitalism present in
America is both the problem and solution. As the third installment in the Batman trilogy, a different
tone is used when the hero is introduced in the beginning scene. In the preceding films, the hero has
been seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains
Gotham is infested with. In the opening scene of The Dark Knight Rises, Commissioner Gordon
delivers a speech to honor the late Harvey Dent, former Gotham mayor, and his major contribution
in ridding the city s criminal activity. Dent was a symbol of hope and restoration from the economic
decline Gotham faced and the gang activity that terrorized the streets. Batman 2: The Dark Knight
introduced the villainous Joker and his psychotic madness which led to Dent s own decline when
the madman kills Dent s lover. This sparked Dent s own madness and list of homicides. Wanting to
preserve the hope Dent instilled onto the people and prevent chaos, Batman takes the blame for
Dent s transgression. And so, begins the duality of Batman.
Batman is the alter ego of wealthy and successful business man, Bruce Wayne. Wayne s parents
were tragically murdered right in front of him when he was young by an armed robber. This was
the moment Wayne took an oath to himself that he would rid his city of the injustice and crime that
killed his

Benefit Of The International Space Station
Benefits of the International Space Station to Earth Space is a place where no ground can be
felt, sound can t be heard, and every direction is endless darkness. There are people who spend
their lives studying space and how it differs from Earth. With the help of experts from 15 nations,
The International Space Station (ISS) has been built. The space station travels in our orbit at
17,500 miles per hour and orbits the earth every ninety minutes. The ISS gives scientists a better
understanding of how life works in zero gravity.
The space station was not always there. It took about thirteen years to complete, and it all started in
1984. On January 25, 1984, President Ronald Reagan s State of the Union Address directed the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to build an international space station
within the next 10 years. (History and Timeline). That was the first time anyone had ever heard
of a space station and they had no idea what it could be used for. In November of 1998, Russia
launched the Russian Zarya control module into orbit which the first piece of the ISS. (History
and Timeline) Technology was not the greatest back then so it took another two years for the
station to be suitable for people to live on it. It is not easy to get parts and payloads to the space
station. To get a shuttle up to the ISS, scientists must make extreme calculations and time every
move made precisely. to match the speed and position of the space station. The first crew

Essay on The Benefits of High Quality Child Care
It is common knowledge that a parent is considered the most efficient caregiver for their children.
It s also known that with daily responsibilities of caring for a child financially, parents partake in
full time and/or part time employment. While needing to do so, many children attend daycare
/preschool facilities. Granted, it is the parent s responsibility to cautiously select where they decide
to take their children. This is because parents know that while they are away for numerous hours
of the day, their children are in the hands of another care provider and that their care would have an
enormous impact on their children. At a young age, a child s social and cognitive skills are
continuing to take shape and the amount of time spent in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While daycare/ childcare centers provide a safe haven for young children and left in the care of
licensed caregivers, there is more to daycare then just temporary relief for parents. These facilities
offer a nurturing and fun learning environment to promote curiosity, innovation, and continuous
growth in developmental abilities and positivity in children, and they also have the ability to
provide encouraging and engaging activities that endorse emotional, social, and academic
development (Phillips 1987). Within these facilities, high quality care calls for each child reach
greater levels of learning and can develop skills at their own pace under supervision.
Along with knowing the purpose of quality daycare/child care facilities, the next important factor
is to be aware of what generates a high quality daycare/child care facility. It is vital to know the
characteristics because these prime objectives are the driving forces influenced by what children
need in order to succeed and grow in their developmental skills. Fundamentally, High quality
[preschool] education can support early development in ways that yield long term social, cognitive
and emotional benefits (Barnett 2005, p1). The most essential aspect of a high quality facility are
the trained, certified and attentive teachers hired to support children s developmental needs. They

Barrett Personal Statement
A graceful gymnast, compact and muscular, bounds towards the vault with each step a leap forward
towards her goal of perfection. Planting her feet, the spring board effortlessly throws her into the
air, providing her with the hang time needed to complete her elegant stunt. Without the spring
board, the gymnast would not have enough air time to spin as much before the mat meets her feet.
Barrett is the spring board to my educationwhich provides me with the hang time to complete my
stunt of applying myself as a global citizen with my research in the physical creation of the
universe, creating a knowledge and commonplace for all of humanity to accept, unifying all diverse
theories into mathematical reasoning. To be considered a global citizen, one must apply the
mindset of impacting the community around them in a positive manner, through service or new
knowledge that benefits the group not the individual. Only when the outlook of a person is for the

Short Essays in The Great Cat Massacre by Darnton
The Great Cat Massacre
Although the title of this book strikes the reader as unusual it begins to make complete sense
once it is read. This book is a series of short essays by Darnton. The second section, which is
titled Workers Revolt: The great Cat Massacre of the Rue Saint SГ©rverin brings the reader
directly into the views of the working class during the 1700s in France. This style of writing
allows situations to be viewed through the lens of those who are experiencing it, making for a
more interesting read. The context of this portion of the book truly gives an in depth account of
the emotions and conditions that peasants would meet with while being treated as inferior to even
the animals by the masters. It can be said that Darnton included this portion of the book to show
the customs of the French during this time as well as to be able to see the way that the working
class lived. From the reading the working class was the base of society, doing the work for the
noblemen and everyday citizens. In this section it involves a particular situation with two men that
are apprentices in a noble house. Apprentices would learn their way into a position of a trade and
gain their success this way. Unfortunately, the apprenticeshipprogram was not the most enjoyable
experience. These men were not allowed to sit at a table for meals, they had to sleep in freezing
rooms that were dirty and horrid, and were forced to eat the food scraps that even the cats rejected.

History Of Juvenile Crimes
We believe that the world s most notorious and ruthless killers are locked away in a jail cell,
away from society and possibly never having the chance to see sunlight again. Yet, what we do
not know is that it is very possible that we could be sitting in a room with a future killer. When
we hear the words serial killer or murderer, we most often see pictures of the famous killers or the
ones actors portray on tv, but one of the biggest things we do not see are pictures of children. The
biggest twist of all though is according to the Justice Department, it estimates about 10 percent of
all homicides are committed by juveniles under the age of 18. Many juveniles are being tried as
adults and possibly being locked up because of the crimes that they do, depending on how bad the
crimeis and the juvenile s criminal history. Most children do not really know what they did or
why they did but that does not excuse the fact that they took another person s life, regardless of
what was actually going on during the time. Kids who do adult crimes should be put away from
society for protection against themselves and others. If a person did something really bad and they
regret it, you can instantly see it on their faces. Something sparks in their eye that just shows
remorse which is good because it shows not only them feeling bad about what they did, but also
giving teaching them a lesson to not do that bad thing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most adults will imagine those kids being their own which gives the children some sort of
leeway. Most juvenile courts do not have a jury, therefore making it hard for the juveniles who
committed a crime not be given a proper trial, which in their case is good for them. But, if
juveniles were to be tried as adults, not only could it bring justice, but it could also show other
people who don t believe they should have a trial by jury and keep it the

Ain T Language Analysis
The word ain t is one of the most commonly overlooked mistake in the English dictionary. It is
used very often in TV, books, movies, media, and music, so we shouldn t be surprised it is now in
our real life. Even though our English teachers and grammar books label the word ain t as incorrect
the use of the word has not been banished just yet.
One writer on the topic, Linda Eve Diamond, starts off her article by asking her audience is it true
what they say, that ain t ain t a word (or at least a proper one)? And if it is, why is it so
unacceptable now when in the eighteenth century it was just as respectable as any other
contraction? (par 1). Some individuals believe the person who studies and writes about grammar
made a big mistake by banishing the word. However, everyone knows that ain t is not proper.
Diamond goes on to explain that, language, after all is always changing. In any century, and
generation or decade, we can always say that language ain t what it used to be. (par ... Show more

To clarify the distinction, consider the expression ain t. Unless used intentionally to add
colloquial flavor, ain t is unacceptable because its use is considered nonstandard. (par 2).
Colloquial tone is a language used in ordinary conversations, and in nothing formal. For
example, the word ain t can help advertisements by giving the title a catchy tone. It can also bring
comedy in a play or movie. Nordquist goes on to mention, ain t is used by many speakers in
certain fixed expressions and to convey a certain rhetorical effect. (par 4). Using ain t can help
persuade or influence some people. However, Nordquist says, As linguistic scholars have
frequently pointed out, it is unfortunate that ain t I? is unpopular in educated speech. (par 5). A few
teachers do not let their students use that word in essays, because it makes the essay seem

Essay on To Be of Use by Marge Piercy
Marge Piercy s poem To Be of Use expresses an opposing connotation about the idea of work.
Most people believe the words hard work carry a negative connotation. What these words imply is
not something that is generally received with enthusiasm but is often accepted either by force or
obligation. The poem s central theme is that satisfaction and self fulfillment can be attained by
using one s skills to serve a specific function in life, for it is the opinion of the speakerthat an
unproductive existence has no value or significance because it is vain, and pointless. Piercy uses
figurative language, imagery, description, symbolism, and details to develop this theme throughout
the poem. The narrator begins developing the theme in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

what makes these people so honorable is that they are ready and willing to become the ox ; they
do not need to be coaxed or forced to commit themselves to a task. The narrator adds that those
whom he respects pull like water buffalo, with massive patience (9). Here Piercy s figure of
speech makes the speaker convey the idea that although they are heavy laden, they remain
dedicated and devoted to their aims. When the narrator describes that they Strain in the mud and
muck to move things forward (10), the words mud and muck become symbols of the obstacles
and unfavorable conditions that the speaker s favored people often have to contend with while
working. Despite such discomfort and inconvenience, effort and determination, they persist and
accomplish their goals. In addition, the speaker tells that he venerates people who do what has to
be done, again and again (11). The repetition of the word again is a detail that puts emphasis on
the traits of reliability and dependability that characterize the responsible attitude that the people
the speaker admires take toward hard labor. Hence, in the first two stanzas, the narrator paints a
picture of the virtues people he loves the best possess to help

Strategic analysis is basically concerned with the structuring of the relationship between a business
and its environment. The external environment which is dynamic and changing holds both
opportunities and threats for the organizations. The organizations while attempting at strategic
realignments, try to capture these opportunities and avoid the emerging threats. So it is very
important for organizations like Intel to study and understand about the external environment. To
do this, we can use the PESTEL framework.

Nowadays, environment problems have become the big matters. Every tech companies have to

Write An Essay On Lutheranism
Lutheranism Lutheranism is a major branch of Protestant Christianity that was created by Martin
Luther, a former devout Catholic monk and theology professor. Martin was disgusted by how deep
the corruption ran through the Roman Catholic Church, and when Pope Leo X authorized the
selling of hundreds of thousands of Indulgences to fund the massive St. Peter s Grand Cathedral in
Rome, that was the final straw for Martin. Writing down a ninety five points in a satire against the
Church, he exposed all the Church s hidden truths. A huge argument ensued, and the Church
attacked Martin Lutherwith their best weapon, which proved to trump kings. PopeLeo X used

The Diet was so important that even Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor, was going to make an
appearance. During the Diet, things went completely wrong, and Charles V declared Martin a
heretic. Now with his life at stake, Luther still did not back down. Luther fled for his life, and the
Church pursued in chase. This went along for awhile until Luther got backed up by Frederick.
Luther only had one hope left, the princes of Germany. These princes had everything Luther
needed, armies for protection, money for funding the new Church, and more importantly, could
encourage more people to join. At the peasant rebellion, Luther was supposed to support the
peasants, but instead, needing the help of princes more than ever, he supported the princes. The
princes supported Lutheranism, and now Lutheranism spread like a wildfire throughout Germany.
At the peace of Augsburg, Charles V agreed that all German princes could choose what religion
they wanted. This was a major victory for Lutheranism. The Church couldn t stop the growth
anymore. The first major protestant church branch had started. Lutheranism had only two key

  • 2. Anarchy vs. Autocracy Anarchy v. Autocracy Liberty vs. Security; both are seemingly broad terms, but due to current events, circumstances have occured resulting in an infringement on liberty because of issues regarding national security thus, creating problems for citizens and politicians alike. Liberty is best defined as a concept that identifies the condition in which an individual has the right to act according to his/her free will[1]. Security is the degree of protection from danger, loss, or criminals[2]. The problem lies in that there are many different views on what the government s role on the proper balance between the two should be. The proper balance between liberty and security is an equilibrium unless in specific events or time periods where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In certain events, extreme security is needed, and should be completely justified. In order to establish what is right or wrong without corruption, the public should have the final say on what needs to happen because they are ultimately the ones who will be affected by these new enforcements. Similar to presidential elections, a national vote should happen during a time of peace, on what precautions the government needs to take during these stressful time periods. The purpose of the election is to get an adequate sample of what the citizens believe their ratio of security to liberty is. A difference would be the removal of the Electoral College. Instead of having the views censored by elected officials, it needs to be the raw wishes of the population. The significance of having it during peace time would be that during emergencies, people get frantic and desperate. Decisions would inevitably be clouded by fear and overall craziness. Ben Franklin once said that, Passion never governs wisely, and this certainly holds true to a person s reaction during war or difficult moments. However, the government will react to what the people want, and will come up with laws or actions that would be beneficial to our society. For example, Document G is a political cartoon that is about the US Patriot Act. In it, Clay Bennett has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Hedda Gabler By Henrik Ibsen Women have always been a point of interest in the eyes of many readers in all time periods. They are seen by society as mysterious, beautiful, sometimes outspoken, and so much more. However, women of today s day and age don t hold a candle next to the Victorian Era s Hedda in the play Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen. Hedda Gabler, although a heinous person at heart, is an extremely powerful woman who uses that power to mask her own fears. So why is it that Hedda Gabler displays herself in such a manner? Within this essay the reader will learn how Hedda acts, the forms in which she controls those around her, in what ways she gets exactly it is that she wants, when and how she wants it, as well as what her fears are and where they may have stemmed from. In the play, the author, Henrik Ibsen, describes Hedda as a women caught up with only the aesthetic aspects of life. She cares not for the feelings or well being of those around her, but rather how those same people view her. As any woman in this time period would desire, especially a prestigious one being born from a general, a spotless and well rounded reputation is essential in obtaining respect , gaining power, and going on about simple day to day living. As described by one scholar, Their work ranged from the grand sweep of politics to the minutiae of everyday life (Maitzen). Often, Hedda would put aside responsibility and other tasks to focus on her beauty and how she was viewed. Her beauty was one of the many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Specificity Specificity: There are general or global demands that all human beings need to have general strength and power, good posture, core stability, mobility, and stability at all of the major joints. These components are all requirements for a healthy and functional body, especially in an athletic environment. All human beings squat as every single day activity. Picking up a box? Getting up or sitting down? Starting your lawn mower? That is a single arm row, using both back and core muscles to generate rotational power. Carrying groceries in from the car? That is a farmer s walk, which places a huge demand on the core and upper back (Wilmore Costill 2005). The concept of Specificity simply states that training bouts must go from highly general training sessions to highly specific training sessions. The concept of Specificity also implies that athlete become better at a particular and specific exercise or skill, athlete must perform that highly specific exercise or skill (verywell). The training sessions must be specific not only to athlete s sport/skills but to athlete s individual abilities (recoverability, tolerance to training stress, outside obligations, etc) (fitstar). Single joint exercises tend to isolate a muscle. Using the legs extension (athlete s quadriceps) are doing the work, which can lead to muscle imbalances and possibly injury. However, multi joint exercises are much more likely to simulate real life, or real sports, movements. In real life we use many muscles and joints in very rapid succession to move. • 6. Causes Of Deforestation In Madagascar Deforestation on the island of Madagascar, an island off of the coast of Africa, has caused major destruction of habitat for species and a reduction in numbers of plants and trees. The island used to be largely covered in dense forests which were home to many species of lemur and other animals. Now, в… of the island is bare and uninhabitable for these animals. Deforestation on the island progresses at around 150,000 to 200,000 hectares of forests cut down each year. Because of this many plants and animals that only occur in the wild on Madagascarare endangered. The problem has effects on both abiotic factors as well as the biotic factors, which include animals and plants. Some of the abiotic things impacted include lakes and shorelines. One of the main causes for the deforestation is slash and burn agriculture. In this technique, small areas of forest are cut down and everything is burned to clear the area and introduce some nutrients into the ground. Then, rice is planted and grown for a few years. After some time, all of the nutrients are depleted from the ground and rice cannot grow well anymore. Because of this, farmers have to continuously cut down more and more forest. The reason that this is such a common thing on Madagascar is because most people are poor and need food, so they resort to this destructive technique that leaves land barren and unable to support growth. The impacts on biotic factors are obvious. One third of the island s 1,600 unique species of plants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparison Of The BookThe Stepford Wives And Get Out Georgios Araujo Dr. Andy Schopp ENG_251 17 November 2017 Technology can be our friend or our worst enemy. In Forbes The Stepford Wives and in Peele s film, Get Out, both directors have a central idea of reconstructing our society for it to best suited for us, as individuals. Unless you knew going in that both of these movies were in the genre of Horror, you wouldn t be expecting it, more in The Stepford Wives than in Get Out. However the interesting part about both of these works is that they both have an oddly similar theory behind them, and it leads the viewer to believe that The Stepford Wives could have been an inspiration for Get Out, unless you already knew that after hearing Peele s interview stating that it was. Both of the works use technology and science in a way that by the end of both works the viewer is shocked, at least I was. For some brief background, in Forbes The Stepford Wives, Joanna Eberhardt and her two children are uprooted from the busy bustling streets of Manhattan to the quiet streets of Stepford. Where the crime rate is zero and so is the poverty rate, her husband insists this is the best place to raise a family. But almost immediately, like an instinct, Joanna is uncertain of the women living in Stepford, she feels as though they are living on a different planet. They are overly obsessed with keeping a clean house, and pleasing their husbands, all whom are members of the Men s Association. All of their husbands are executives and very ... • 10. The Problem Of Social Psychology Social psychology is the study of how people think, feel, and act as a result of being present among others. At times, a direct contact is not required to fully influence a person. The imagined or implied presence of others is sufficient to carry out a full effect on another person. Examples to portray how the impact of others can have an authority over the way we function socially can be found almost anywhere around us. The media is filled with many examples from recent headlines that may offer an illustration of this phenomenon. In recent news, the National Public Radio (NPR), a non profit membership media organization, aired an interview discussing Syrias bloody civil war. With more than four million people who have fled the country thus far, it has easily been named one of the worst refugeesituations in history. Millions more have also been displaced within Syria. Although we rarely hear from the people inside, NPR was able to air an interview it conducted with one of the citizens who lives in the broken country. Saeed al Batal, a photographer and filmmaker who did not use his real name for security reasons, reveals how horrific the experiences currently are in Syria. In this paper, the transcript of the interview will be used portray how, even when situations are clearly appalling and catastrophic, the presence of others effects people s contributions and willingness to help. The Red Scare was complicated and a result of many different aspects of American culture. However the American culture in the 1950 s was one of strict conformity. This conformist society, created in the late 1940 s was created by many early discoveries that uncovered Communist members as Soviet spies. There arose a prevalent belief that anyone who thought differently was unpatriotic. This conformist nature of American society thus resulted in few organizations fighting for social justice. The Communist party therefore attracted a wide range of liberals from different aspects of life. Joseph McCarthy himself, along with many other governmental officials, was able to institute anti communist laws and practices under the pretense that an unwavering conformity was the American goal. The conformist nature of American society in the 1950 s created one of the most powerful anti communist crusades and allowed for a dominant Red Scare. McCarthyism rose to power so quickly in the late 1940 s and the early 1950 s because the perception of an internal Communist threat had just enough plausibility to be convincing . Americans feared that communists who would overthrow the government were a realistic threat . During World War Two there were many Soviet spies that had infiltrated many aspects of American covert operations. Alger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The route cache may be containing the stale routes which can affect for the performance of DSR protocol. The stale routes in the route cache of DSR protocol may take several adverse effects such as long delay, packet loss. Route cache can be divided to the three different strategies cache structure, cache capacity and cache timeout. The DSR (Dynamic Source Routing) routing protocol dependent on the cache memory for every node to store the routing path from source to destination. It is a new algorithm using DSR routing cache technique to improve the routing between mobile nodes to reduction the effect of mobility in link transmitting that can solve link broken problem. 2.PREVIOUS WORK DONE: [W. • 13. Comparing A Doll s House and Oedipus Rex Essay Comparing A Doll s House and Oedipus Rex Ibsen s drama A Doll s House , serves as an example of the kind of issue based drama that distinguishes Ibsen from many of his contemporaries. The play s dialogue is not poetic, but very naturalistic, and the characters are recognizable people. Given the sense of modernity which the play possesses it seems unusual to compare it to a Greek tragedy produced more than two thousand years previously. On closer examination however, there are certain similarities between the way in which A Doll s House is plotted and a tragedy such as Oedipus Rex. Both Oedipus and A Dolls House depict disastrous events that occur to two very different characters. At the start of Oedipus, we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oedipus flees from Corinth falsely believing that Polybus and Merope are his parents, he hopes that this will make the oracle s prediction that he will murder his father and sleep with his mother impossible. This virtuous act is of course a massive error since it leads him to his real parentsIt is interesting to note that Nora only borrows money in A Doll s House in an attempt to save the life of her sick husband. Her act of kindness misguided as it may be, is the catalyst for the events that follow. The way in which the actions of both Nora and Oedipus backfire in such a tragic way is an example of what in Greek literary tradition is known as Peripitia. This word translates as a reversal and to gain an understanding of the tragic condition it is important that the theme of reversal is examined. In Oedipus there are many examples of reversal, when actions have the exact opposite effect to that which were intended. When Oedipus sends for the shepherd whom he hopes will allay his fear, over his parentage, his arrival has the exact opposite effect. In this respect the tow plays are very similar they employ many of the same dramatic devices to achieve their goals. Reversal is key to both plays since by the end of both plays the social conditions of both Oedipus and Nora have changed completely. It is interesting to note that unlike a Shakespearean drama in which the tragic hero always dies, neither Oedipus nor Nora die. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying Essays William Faulkner s As I Lay Dying In his book, As I Lay Dying, William Faulkner pioneers new and interesting literary forms. His most obvious deviation from traditional novel writing was the new style of narration in which he used all the main characters as the narrator at one point or another. This allowed the reader to gain insight into the character s thoughts, and also to prove very interesting and entertaining. Faulkner also ignores all boundaries that sane people have placed upon the English language to keep it readable. Faulkner forges his own set of rules for syntax that allow for a very choppy yet elegant stream of consciousness in the character s narration. Lastly, Faulkner makes incredible leaps away from established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Faulkner does a great job of varying the attitudes and styles of the characters as they narrate in turn, but this creates a confusing atmosphere, especially in the first few chapters. For instance, the first section is narrated by Darl who talks about Jewel, Tull, and Cash like we are supposed to know who they are. The next section is by Cora who mentions Addie, Kate, and Mrs. Lawington, and talking about issues with each one of them, and we still don t know who Darl is. As you could imagine, this creates quite a bit of confusion in the first part of the book, until the reader can sort through the characters, but by that time, a quarter of the book is gone and needs to be reread. An upside of this method, however, is that it allows the author the full use of the minds of his characters, and he can create a more clear picture of their thoughts. Another peculiarity of the narration of this book was the idea of stream of consciousness. Faulkner uses his words to try to express what the characters are thinking at that moment. The thoughts tend to ramble a little, with one idea leading onto another, and many of them not making sense unless some assumptions are made of past events. This form of narration is made possibly by the use of fragment sentences, run ons, and many other strange ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Decision Making That Permits Influence An Investment Abroad INTRODUCTION: The world is changing more rapidly; consequently organizations are promptly the way they operate as well to ensure survival and growth in high velocity turbulent markets. To succeed an organization has to anticipate, react and even lead in terms of strategic decisions to enhance profits. It is pertinent to understand that a series of systematic decisions is undertaken before an investment abroad is carried on with. According to Sundaram Stewart 1992 there is a system of decision making that permits influence which refers to the firm s ability to coordinate and control endogenous organizational variables and quasi endogenous market variables (coupled with exogenous factors (e.g exchange rates, regulations, tariffs and political set up). Investment decisions are critical for the performance of an organization. From a micro perspective, they are fundamental for the growth of individual companies, increasing their efficiency by reducing per unit costs, enhancing profits by tapping new market segments and exploiting more resources. At a company s level, an investment decision abroad is much more complicated and requires more research; it is more of a multi criteria process taking into account numerous factors. These are primarily economic and risk factors, political and social environment and government regulations. Naturally, the effects of these factors on decisions of individual companies may vary significantly. Each of the risk has been separately defined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Caroldisplays his feelings about being poor during Christmas time. Charles references Scrooge s nephew as a poor child, and Scrooge asks his nephew what he has to be merry about when he doesn t have any money (Dickens, A Christmas Carol 4). The forces that inspired Dickens to create a powerful, impressive and enduring tale were the profoundly humiliating experiences of his childhood, the plight of the poor, and their children during the boom decades of the 1830s and 1840s (A Christmas Carol par. 5). Charles family grew up poor and Christmas time is typically not a good time for people who do not have money. In modern English, chivalry means the ideals, virtues, or characteristics of knights. But in actuality, the phrases quot;orders of chivalry quot; and quot;orders of knighthood quot; are essentially synonymous. Succinctly, a knight was a professional soldier. On the contrary to this not so balanced father, son relationship, heredity enters the knightly class in the 13th century. The son of a knight is automatically a squire, thus making him eligible for knighthood on the basis of his ancestry. Men who were free provided military service, either personally or (if they were rich enough) using others services. Thus, a man who held his estate in knight s fee owed service as a knight to his lord. A more sizeable vassal, when called by his liege, would summon his knights and form a contingent in his liege s army. In the late 13th century, a decision of the Parliament in Paris forbade the count of Artois from making unfree men into knights without the king s consent; interesting to note, the two men who had been so knighted were allowed to remain knights subject to the payment of a fine. Knighthood did not become a hereditary class in England, and instead the knightly class (those eligible to be knights) became the nucleus of the gentry. As a military institution, knighthood was on the wane from the late 13th century on. The end of feudal society meant that sovereigns gained a monopoly on war making, and the old form of military service owed to one s immediate lord became obsolete. Admission costs $4 for adults, $3 for children and seniors, and $2 for college students with ID proof. The museum was a complex rather than one building. The complex was surrounded by a black metal fence. The main building itself maintained its original style. In the late 1920s, the area was build as the Southern Pacific Depot freight line. It ran from Brownsville to Edinburg until 1952. Then, the loading/unloading building began restoration to become a museum. Finally, the Historic Brownsville Museum opened its doors in 1986. The complex contained three buildings: the main culture building, a transportation gallery, and the educational building. The main culture building included artifacts in different categories. By using various writing approaches to convey the theme of the novel, Hesse appeals to the readers senses and aides them in grasping the novel. Included in these techniques are symbolism, metaphor, allusion, and archetypes. He compares many issues that Siddhartha faces to everyday objects and forces, making the noveleasier to understand. Three of the main archetypes Hesse uses to get his point across are trees, rivers, and sleep. One of the more obvious symbols used in the novel is a tree. (76) Just as in the traditional English story A Christmas Carol, where Scrooge goes to bed and wakes up a new man after a series of nightmares, many authors have used the metaphor of sleep to show emotional growth in their characters. Another case in point is Kate Chopin s book on a woman s self discovery appropriately titled The Awakening. Just like these authors, Hesse proves to be no stranger to this choice of symbolism. He illustrates quite effectively and allows the reader to notice and reflect on Siddhartha s personal development on more than one level. It is easy to see that many cross cultural themes were brought into Siddhartha. Through writing on more than one level, Hesse has created a literary masterpiece that is extremely deep and meaningful. The application of the symbols he chose makes some of the themes in the novel easier to see and decipher. In the preceding films, the hero has been seen righting wrongs and serving justice by banishing the manipulative, toxic and evil villains Gotham is infested with. • 49. Essay on To Be of Use by Marge Piercy Marge Piercy s poem To Be of Use expresses an opposing connotation about the idea of work. Most people believe the words hard work carry a negative connotation. What these words imply is not something that is generally received with enthusiasm but is often accepted either by force or obligation. The poem s central theme is that satisfaction and self fulfillment can be attained by using one s skills to serve a specific function in life, for it is the opinion of the speakerthat an unproductive existence has no value or significance because it is vain, and pointless. Piercy uses figurative language, imagery, description, symbolism, and details to develop this theme throughout the poem. The narrator begins developing the theme in... By including the details people who harness themselves in this line, the narrator implies that what makes these people so honorable is that they are ready and willing to become the ox ; they do not need to be coaxed or forced to commit themselves to a task. The narrator adds that those whom he respects pull like water buffalo, with massive patience (9). Here Piercy s figure of speech makes the speaker convey the idea that although they are heavy laden, they remain dedicated and devoted to their aims. When the narrator describes that they Strain in the mud and muck to move things forward (10), the words mud and muck become symbols of the obstacles and unfavorable conditions that the speaker s favored people often have to contend with while working. Despite such discomfort and inconvenience, effort and determination, they persist and accomplish their goals. In addition, the speaker tells that he venerates people who do what has to be done, again and again (11). The repetition of the word again is a detail that puts emphasis on the traits of reliability and dependability that characterize the responsible attitude that the people the speaker admires take toward hard labor. Hence, in the first two stanzas, the narrator paints a picture of the virtues people he loves the best possess to help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Essay about A Proposed ICA Algorithm Proposed ICA algorithm This algorithm performs adaptive optimization of kurtosis based contrast function in floating point arithmetic. The main aim of this algorithm development is to reduce the number of manipulations and to improve the performance of ICA algorithm in terms of convergence speed, area, frequency and power. The convergence speed of the algorithm is improved by focusing the search in particular directions rather than searching for the solution in a random manner. The random number generator unit present in FastICA has been replaced by an adaptive optimization unit .This adaptive optimization unit updates the weight values based on the kurtosis function. Since adaptive optimization unit contains a subtractor and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If x is normalized so variance is equal to unity, then kurtosis is simply the normalized version of the fourth moment as in (5). kurt(x)=E{x^(4 ) } 3 (5) Kurtosis value is non zero for non gaussian random variables or signals. The weight vector is updated in ICA by the learning rule w_newi (k+1)в†ђE{Z.g(гЂ–w(k)ZгЂ—^T)} E{Z.g (гЂ–w(k)ZгЂ—^T)} (6) Where g( ) is a nonlinear function. Since derivative of kurtosis can be used as a nonlinear function g(x)=x3 (7) On substituting (7) in (6), w_newi (k+1)в†ђE{Z.(гЂ–w(k)ZгЂ—^T)} 3E{ZгЂ–гЂ–(w(k)ZгЂ—^T)гЂ—^2} (8) Due to the property of unit variance, the equation (8) becomes, w_newi (k+1)в†ђE{Z.(гЂ–w(k)ZгЂ—^T)} 3w(k) (9) This is used in main iteration of proposed algorithm for weight updation. The Fig 2 shows the architecture of iteration process defined in (9) for 2 sources . Prposed ICA Algorithm for 2 units Having the low dimensionality signal obtained from preprocessing step, this algorithm aims at finding the vectors of demixing matrix to extract desired signal from the mixtures. Updation of weights continues in iterative manner with following steps until a convergence is achieved. The proposed ICA algorithm estimates one column of the demixing matrix in one convergence period. Form a weight matrix W by assuming M sub matrices or column vectors where M ... • 51. Intel Pestel and Five Forces Analysis 1. PESTEL: Strategic analysis is basically concerned with the structuring of the relationship between a business and its environment. The external environment which is dynamic and changing holds both opportunities and threats for the organizations. The organizations while attempting at strategic realignments, try to capture these opportunities and avoid the emerging threats. So it is very important for organizations like Intel to study and understand about the external environment. To do this, we can use the PESTEL framework. PPOLITICAL EECONOMIC SSOCIO CULTURAL TTECHNOLOGY EENVIRONMENT LLEGAL In PESTEL framework, the external environment is classified into six broad categories: Political, Economic, Social, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is especially important for an IT company such as Intel as it can be the key for the companies to survive or the reason which made the failure of some IT companies. There are more and more consumers in the wireless industry, nobody can argue that the PDA and cell phones have become so popular; they are the new digital trends of this era. Intel cannot ignore this profitable industry. So it has researched and announced the new chip Atom for mobile devices which is believed to unleash new innovation across the industry. said Intel executive VP and chief sales and marketing officer Sean Maloney (Geoff, 2008). Environment: Environment conservation and protection is an issue, which has gained prominence because of deteriorating environmental balance which is threatening the sustainability of life and nature. Nowadays, environment problems have become the big matters. Every tech companies have to take the key roles to solve them including Intel. The company has proclaimed the Climate Savers Computing Initiative. The Initiative s goal is to reduce global computer CO2 emissions by 54 million tons per year, equivalent to the annual output of 11 million cars or 10 20 coal fired power plants. This clearly shows that Intel is trying its best to reduce the pollution of the environment. Legal: Nevertheless, with globalization, the rules of competition, trade mark rights

In modern world race is defined more by the identification of people on the basis of their physical characteristics, it is socially constructed. Race refers to a group that is socially defined but on the basis of physical criteria. Over the period of time, the concept of racehas changed in many different forms and is now less about person s family or cultural ties but more based on how they look. An example of race is brown, white, or black skin. However, the term Ethnicity refers to the culture, heritage, and the way people live their life, the language they speak, religion they practice, food they eat and other culturally ... • 54. Write An Essay On Lutheranism Lutheranism Lutheranism is a major branch of Protestant Christianity that was created by Martin Luther, a former devout Catholic monk and theology professor. Martin was disgusted by how deep the corruption ran through the Roman Catholic Church, and when Pope Leo X authorized the selling of hundreds of thousands of Indulgences to fund the massive St. Peter s Grand Cathedral in Rome, that was the final straw for Martin. Writing down a ninety five points in a satire against the Church, he exposed all the Church s hidden truths. A huge argument ensued, and the Church attacked Martin Lutherwith their best weapon, which proved to trump kings. PopeLeo X used excommunicated Luther from the Church, but the plan backfired. During the Diet, things went completely wrong, and Charles V declared Martin a heretic. Now with his life at stake, Luther still did not back down. Luther fled for his life, and the Church pursued in chase. This went along for awhile until Luther got backed up by Frederick. Luther only had one hope left, the princes of Germany. These princes had everything Luther needed, armies for protection, money for funding the new Church, and more importantly, could encourage more people to join. At the peasant rebellion, Luther was supposed to support the peasants, but instead, needing the help of princes more than ever, he supported the princes. The princes supported Lutheranism, and now Lutheranism spread like a wildfire throughout Germany. At the peace of Augsburg, Charles V agreed that all German princes could choose what religion they wanted. This was a major victory for Lutheranism. The Church couldn t stop the growth anymore. The first major protestant church branch had started. Lutheranism had only two key difference than Catholicism. Instead of seven sacraments, there were only two, Baptism ...
