This document provides details on a case study of the Kashmere Gate ISBT in Delhi, India. It describes the existing conditions and layout of the bus terminal, including the number of bus bays, passenger movement, and connectivity to other transportation. It identifies needs for additional bus bays and parking by 2028. The document proposes upgrading and renovating the ISBT with a focus on interconnectivity, circulation, commercial space, and segregating traffic flows. The redesign would improve functionality, accessibility, and provide modern passenger amenities over the next 40 years.

AN INTEGRATED APPROACH TO REDUCE INTRA CITY TRAFFIC AT COIMBATORE | J4RV4I1002Journal For Research
Coimbatore (11.0168°N,76.9558°E) is a fast developing cosmopolitan city with large number of industries and educational institutions. The development has lead to a large number of vehicles causing heavy traffic. The traffic congestion at Coimbatore has been a major problem which causes traffic jams and accidents. The major reason for traffic has been the mofussil buses that operate in the city. Around 1300 mofussil buses enter into the city, these buses play an important role in traffic congestion. The best solution is to construct a centralized bus stand at the outskirts of the city. This would reduce the traffic, accidents and also leads to development of the outskirts of the city. A suitable location near the city with sufficient road access to connecting cities has been chosen and the bus terminus has been designed, modeled with all facilities and features.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

2. The Kashmere Gate ISBT is operating from a
developed complex wherein large number of
government offices and kiosks/shops are also
existing. Accordingly, the development of
concept for this ISBT shall have to be planned
for making provision for hotel, public utilities,
parking etc. in order to generate maximum
revenue as permissible in the Master Plan.
5. External aspects
• The ISBT has two accesses, one from the road from Shahdara
and another from Rajghat & Wazirabad.(Ring road).
• At present,Interstate,DTC & local buses operate from
Kashmere Gate ISBT.
• There is only one entrance to the ISBT(from Ring Road) which
is common for all types of buses, though the bays are
different. After arrival ,the buses have to take a sharp U-turn
for the exit point while departing from the bays. This
entrance is parallel to the metro track on the North-Eastern
side.
• Presently, there are 60 active bus bays,31 idle parking spaces
for buses,14 alighting bus bays, and 12 local bus bays.
• The bus bays are situated at the ground floor level.
6. The entrance to the
terminus from Ring
Road, with Metro
Line parallel to it.
10. Other communications
• The ISBT has a Metro Station within its premises which is a
linking station between the Yellow,Red & Blue lines, to
important destinations like Rajiv Chowk,Dwarka,Dilshad
Garden etc.
• The ISBT also has a local bus stand which has 12 local bus
bays, it is well connected to important places in NCR like
Ghaziabad,New Delhi Railway Station, Noida & Gurgaon.
• It also has a CNG auto stand nearby.
• A prepaid booth is also there for the facility of people arriving
at odd hours at the terminus.

23. Spatial Aspects
• Waiting hall:The ticketing counter and the waiting hall are
located in the Link Block, the waiting area is huge & spacious
and has an average seating capacity of 50-70 people at a
time.
24. Spatial Aspects
• Refreshment Area: The refreshment area included numerous
shops, kiosks, food stalls etc.,which are located on the
inside, whereas,On the periphery of the Link block, there are
bus bays.

27. Visual Aspects
The approach to the bus
terminus from the Wazirabad
road.There is a marked
absence of good signages
,though it is mentioned that
this is the entrance for buses
only, two wheelers also enter
the premises at times due to
confusion.
28. Due to lack of proper Auto
stands, autorickshaws are
sometimes parked near
entrance causing
hindrance to traffic flow
and pedestrian movement,
which is not visually
appealing.
29. Due to lack of access to
daylight ,the waiting hall
remains dark even in the
daytime. Though the
space is huge, the visual
appeal is lacking.
30. Positive aspects
• It is located at the intersection of NH-24 & NH-28
,which makes the terminus easier to approach by
road.
• Due to the construction of a flyover to Shahdara, the
access has become easy with reduced traffic jams.
• Different circulation spaces for diff. type of vehicles.
• Provision of refreshment joints.
• Provision of a waiting area with a large capacity
of seating with proper display to navigate the
occupants.
• Well connected to other parts of the city by a
network of metro, prepaid taxis / autos & local
buses.
• Disable friendly, ramps provided.
31. Positive aspects
•Provision of Ticket counters at the waiting area
•The staff area and the passenger area are at different
floors.
•Provision of a workshop.
•Presence of overhead foot bridges.
•Police control room.
•The local buses coming from the western side of the
bus stand come enter and exit from the same side
32. Negative Aspects
• No re-fuelling stations.
• Public urinals at the main pedestrian entrance,
creates an unwelcoming environment.
• Signage problems-The lack of proper signage is a
noticeable & negative aspect of this ISBT.Being the
oldest ISBT in Delhi, there should be proper signage.
The lack of signage makes it difficult for passengers
while boarding the buses to longer destinations.
• Same entrance for the staff and the visitors.
