Six Sigma is a data-driven set of techniques and tools for process improvement and achieving high quality. It was developed by Motorola in 1986 to reduce defects and improve productivity, efficiency, and quality. Six Sigma uses two methodologies - DMAIC which is for improving existing processes, and DMADV which is for designing new processes and products. Both involve defining goals, measuring current performance, analyzing data to find causes of defects, improving/designing solutions, and verifying the results.
