This is our group presentation for my internet applications course. I had some trouble downloading it from Google docs. It would not download the Table of Contents page, saying it was corrupted. I was able to recreate the page, but I couldn't get the pictures of each student.
This is a slideshow of 4 of my favorite Web 2.0 resources: Today's Meet, MindMeister, Prezi, Poll Everywhere, and Sumo Paint. For each tool, I explain what it is, why it's so great to use with students in the classroom, how to use it, and helpful tips and techniques.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

empowers teachers to engage their classrooms.
Socrative can be downloaded as an app or run from any
Internet enabled phone or computer. The site and app is
simple to use and provides teachers a way to assess and
grade multiple choice assessments easily and efficiently.
A great alternative to expensive single purpose hardware
purchases.
4. Slideshare is a great site that allows teachers and students to
create a free account and then generate an on-line version of
their presentation slideshow. You can upload PowerPoint
presentations and various other formats of slideshows that can
be accessed on-line, downloaded for use later on or even
embedded into classroom websites.
(Example uploaded on a wiki)

6. • Xtra Normal is a very cool new site that allows you to create a
script, pick some characters, setting, music, etc. and turn it
into an animated movie that you can share with friends via
email or even upload to YouTube. It is a really great little site
that can be fun and also educational. Imagine a student
making a Shakespeare scene with these characters or staging
a famous scene in history. A greal tool!
(An example from a S.S. class)
7. Animoto is an amazing tool that allows teachers or students to create
multimedia presentations that are simple to make and really cool to
watch. You just upload pictures, upload a song (or select from their
extensive CC licensed music) and then voila! You have an instant
music video. Now you can even add text and choose pictures to
highlight. There is even an iPhone app that allows you to create a
presentation from the pictures stored on your phone.
Go Animate is a great site that allows students to create amazing
animations without the need for programs like Flash. Great for having
fun or designing dynamic and multimedia based creative class
projects.
8. Dvolver hosts a few tools that are great for digital storytelling. The
MovieMaker (not to be confused with the Microsoft program) online
engine lets students create digital stories easily by selecting
backgrounds, characters, and then creating all of the story elements.
All the cartoons are then shareable and embeddable. An easy to use
site that students are sure to love.
Prezi is a very cool web app that allows you to create presentations
with a cool twist. Literally. You create a single "page" with multiple
pieces of info that you can guide your user to. A neat way to show
information when you want a change of pace from the standard
presentation software. Definitely worth a look.
9. Now take about 15 minutes to explore any of
these presentation sites and see what you can
create! We’re here if you have any questions!
