The document outlines the writer's initial plans for an animation project. They intend to create an artistic side-scrolling fighting game using pixel art graphics inspired by mood board images. Common themes from the mood board like clearly laid out menus and highlighting combos will influence the game design. A schedule is provided detailing the project timeline over 5 weeks, including tasks for case studies, audience research, production, and evaluation. 7 sources are listed that will be used for research, including games, websites, and videos.
2. Initial Reaction
This brief is not the one I was most excited
about, so I will need to do more research into
the topic before I develop the animation for the
game. However I do have some thoughts about
what I want to do, my initial idea would be to
make a very artistic side scroller that has a
fighting focus. I will be good at the making of
this as I am good at using Photoshop and have
developed lots of skills using it.
6. Mood Board Analysis
One theme that is common within my images is the pixel art, this
will have an impact on my game as I will use pixel art for my
graphics. However the colours are all quite dull so I plan on
making my game much more colourful. Another common theme
is in the shop and inventory screens which are all very clearly laid
out even if there is a lot of things in them, I plan on taking
influence from the witchers inventory as it makes the more
important larger so that they are more accessible. Another
theme is within the combo photos as it is always very clear that
you have a large combo, this is done using large fonts and bright
colours. I will also do this as it makes the action more clear
however I cannot make it as bold as it wouldn’t fit the same
aesthetic.
