Main Task Initial Ideas

Aim & Purpose
→The aim of this slideshow is to effectively
present my initial ideas for three possible
 magazine covers, contents and double-page
 spreads
→I would like for you to give me some constructive
feedback so that I can come to a decision on
 what genre I should choose
→The three genres I have chosen are R&B, Indie
 and Dance
Idea One
→ My first idea was the R&B genre, this magazine
as going to be aimed at 60% boys and 40%
girls with an age range between 14 to 24 year
  olds
→ The typical lifestyle of these people was either
students or working class, people who like to
socialize with friends and attend parties etc.
→ The artists I would be similar to, and including,
Frank Ocean, Drake, Beyoncé and Wiz Khalifa
→ The features I would include would be stories
such as ‘A day in the life of…’ or just a simple
biography and background about the chosen
artist, I would also like to include maybe a UK
  top 20 Urban chart

The magazines on the side are similar to the layout and colour scheme I would do for my magazine cover
Idea One
→The language style I found
 suitable for this genre was
 informal and humorous
→I thought a simple black, white
and gold colour scheme would fit
 with the genre
→Finally, the images I would use
would be just of artists and bands
 standing together, singing or
 dancing etc.

                SNAP
Idea Two
→My second idea was to do a magazine
of the dance genre, this would be
aimed at 30% boys and 70% girls with
an age range between 16 to 24
→Their typical lifestyle would be either
students at college or university who
like to socialize and party with friends
→The language style I found suitable
 was informal and humorous

The magazines on the side are similar to the layout and colour scheme I would do for my magazine cover
Idea Two
→I found the colour scheme would be
suitable if it would be quite random, for
example a range of colours such as, red,
 yellow, purple, pink and blue
→The images I would include would be of
people at concerts and of artists
→The artists would be similar to, and
including, Chase & Status, Calvin Harris,
 David Guetta and Laidback Luke
→The features I would include would be
reviews of festivals, stories of artists
doing tours and maybe a UK top 20
 dance music charts

SHAKE
Idea Three
→ My last idea was to do a magazine of the
indie genre, aiming at 40% boys and 60%
girls between the age of 14 and 26
→ Their typical lifestyle would be students at
  school, college or university, some
working class and hobbies may be sports
  such as skating
→ The features I would aim to include would
be stories about artists doing tours,
getting out of hand, maybe a biography
→ The artists would include or be similar to
  Friendly Fires, Florence& The Machine,
Two Door Cinema Club and Ellie Golding

The magazines on the side are similar to the layout and colour scheme I would do for my magazine cover
Idea Three
→The colour scheme I would
like to have consist of red,
 black, white and maybe yellow
→The language style that
 conforms to the genre is
informal and I would talk a lot
 about bands getting out of
 hand
→Images would be of bands,
 artists, people singing and
 playing guitar etc.

Peer Analysis
→ My peers said that idea one had good colour scheme ideas but
would like to see a bit of red added as the magazines I would like
mine to be like, had red in their colour scheme. Also the font style
they liked the best for the R&B genre was the middle one but they
thought the name didn't have enough power which names for this
  genre do
→ For my second idea, which was a dance magazine, they liked the
idea of having stories about the artists backgrounds but thought the
idea of having a UK top 20 dance chart would be to difficult to do,
they also liked the name and font style but thought the colour was
too girly and should be of a deeper shade
→ Finally, my third idea was to do a indie magazine, they thought that
the idea of having a story about artists getting out of hand was a bit
to extreme considering the age range, they liked the font and
colour style I chose and thought it fitted well with the genre but
said to spice up the name by spelling innocence like this ‘innosense’
Conclusion
In conclusion they said they liked the idea of an
indie magazine, as they all liked the colour
scheme, language style and the idea of seeing
images of bands and artists singing and having a
good time. However, they said to maybe
decrease the range of the age range and not to
include stories of artists getting out of hand.
One of them also suggested another name:
‘RADAR’ which I like also.
