Dr Martin Bardsley: Integration and informationQualityWatch
This presentation was delivered at the QualityWatch seminar: 'Allied health professionals: can we measure quality of care?' on 12 November 2014.
Allied health professionals (AHPs) are a group of 12 distinct professions that form a critical part of health care. By 2013 AHPs had made up around 6% of the NHS workforce and accounted for an estimated £2bn of the NHS salary bill.
The role that AHPs play in delivering care is likely to increase further into the future as the population ages and people live with more complex needs. Yet despite the size of the workforce and the broad scope of care, there is very little systematic information available to describe the quality of care delivered by AHPs.

Keynote - Future of primary care networksNHS England
The document summarizes the key themes and learnings from the National ICS Primary Care Development Programme in the UK. The three main points are:
1) Primary care networks are being established to improve coordination of care across practices and community services for populations of 30,000-50,000 people. This allows for integrated working at the right scale.
2) Five themes are emerging around empowering primary care through equal partnerships, understanding population needs to target care, managing resources and reducing variation, integrated working across services, and networks working at the right scale.
3) Early results show the new models are starting to have an impact, with a 15% reduction in referrals and emergency admissions in one integrated care
The document summarizes the North West Coast innovation showcase and highlights:
1) A King's Fund report found that while entrepreneurship thrives in the NHS, transferring innovations between places is complex and support from a range of skilled professionals is needed.
2) Examples of digital health innovations in the region include shared care records, telehealth, and online signposting tools.
3) Over the past five years, the region has developed digital health platforms, worked with successful innovators, and evaluated clinical delivery partnerships.
This document discusses Finland's readiness for digital transformation in health and care. It notes that while Finland is a leader in public health empowerment through services like Kanta, it faces challenges like an aging population and increasing wait times. Digital transformation is inevitable given rising costs and changing models of care focused more on prevention and personalization. Clinicians need support adapting to their changing roles and using technologies like artificial intelligence to extend care instead of replacing clinicians. Finland's strengths can be leveraged globally by further championing clinical perspectives on the new digital landscape.

10 Benefits an EPCR Software should Bring to EMS Organizations Traumasoft LLC
The benefits of an ePCR solution should extend to the whole EMS organization, not just certain groups of people or certain departments. It should provide more than just a form for entering and a database for storing information. It should also include a workflow of how information is communicated, used and stored across the entire organization.

Editor's Notes
Nearly 12% of NHS nursing posts are unfilled, with 2/3 of Trust’s recruiting clinical staff from abroad. An ageing workforce and
Recruiting skilled staff from abroad, means that there is a perfect storm of staff shortages.
Demand for NHS services is outstripping supply, yet a common location for most clinical activity is still busy outpatient clinics.
Even though the NHS is facing a skill shortage, poor processes mean that highly experienced clinical staff are spending time on tasks that should be automated, or assigned to junior staff.
We saw the technical revolution which had occurred within other industries and as users of the health service is was frustrating that the technology wasn’t been used by the NHS and by the Health industry.
We saw that it wasn’t scalable for the NHS to keep increasing funding each year and to hire more staff. The NHS needed to use technology to allow its staff to be more efficient, stopping them doing tasks which could be automated and allowing them to spend more time with the people that needed their help.
