Milosevic Slobodan Research Paper
Introduction
Throughout Eastern Europe, many ordinary people took political action around the fall of the
communist regime. Protests ranged from small events to large, violent protests that changed the
composition within Yugoslavia. The dynamics of political elites and citizens began to take a
different shape as the structure of the authoritarian regime evolved. Yugoslavia suffered from
instability due to rapid changes socially, politically, and economically in which paved way for
Milosevic Slobodan. However, there was essentially two main reasons that allowed the nationalistic
Serbian mobilization of Kosovo Albanians: 1) Ordinary people adopted the ideals of the elites and
2) open opportunity during the fall of communism. Although these main reasons may overlap each
other, they both are definitive in the emergence of a new leader. As revolutions prove to break
ground when opportunities arise, Milosevic seized his chance at power. Nationalistic mobilization
would monopolize within the Serbian community and reawaken historic ties with the Kosovo
Albanians. The anti bureaucratic revolution progressed at the weakening of the Yugoslavian
government. Essentially, revolutionary movements are highly opportunistic, which tends to occur
in non democratic regimes with a weakened central control.

The CPY held precedence over local and state rulings and regulated nearly every aspect
(economical, social, political). Although Yugoslavia s political structure was completely redefined,
cultural and historical ties of the region were dismissed. The rapid integration between the Serbs,
Croats, Slovenes and other ethnicities were forced to a single state. There was no
acknowledgement of identity or territorial boundaries between the ethnicities, which would prove
to be a vital error of judgement in terms of political

LiubГіv Andreyevna
1.The cherry orchard has a symbolic meaning toward LiubГіv AndrГ©yevna as she correlates it to
her sentimental memories of the past and her childhood. She states, Oh, my childhood! My
innocence! I slept in this room, I could look out over the orchard, when I woke up in the morning
I was happy, and it all looked exactly the same as this... (659). LiubГіv AndrГ©yevna s past
experiences as she becomes who she is now, is unique to her. She experienced losing her husband
due to his alcoholic addiction, having an affair with another man, and having her son lost from
her life. Because of her past memories, she attempts to escape her reality by going off to France for

LiubГіv AndrГ©yevna feels as if her home is her nursery because she grew up next to the cherry
orchard, which represents her desire to return to her innocent childhood. Every aspect of her
home and the cherry orchard brings back memories of her past and childhood, such as Trofimov,
her dead son s tutor. She also encounters her dead mother and says ...There s nobody there; I
thought I saw somebody. On the right, at the turning by the summer house, a white little tree bent
down, looking just like a woman... (659). She faces an illusion of her mother as one of the trees

aspect of the past that she has difficulties letting go of in her present day reality. LiubГіv

Character Analysis Of Huck Finn In Catcher In The Rye
From the well known film Cool Hand Luke, Strother Martin s character who is a captain in a
prison warden says the infamous quote, What we ve got here is a failure to communicate (imdb).
In the scene Luke, who is the main character, is talking to the captain about what to expect from
the prison life. When Luke shoots back a sarcastically nice comment to the strict rules that were
set, the captain feels like he has not gotten his point of strict living across and how such behaviors
will not be tolerated. This relates to Holden, the main character who is a distraught teen, because
throughout the novel The Catcher in the Rye he fails to get his emotions and feelings across via his
abnormal ways of communication and also lack there of it. The... Show more content on

While talking to Mr. Spencer, who is former teacher of Holden s, Holden does not really care to
talk and does not give much of a response to the questions asked by Mr. Spencer. When he
decides he has had enough of these questions he lies and says, I need to go right to the gym (15)
Holden does not care to chat with Mr. Spencer because Holden is kind of upset that he can not
seem to do well in life and keeps getting kicked out of school. Holden s brother D.B. is a very
successful writer and his little sister Phoebe is very smart, and Holden feels the pressure to do
well like the rest of his family. Holden is kind of ashamed and removed from others because of
what has transpired and does not want to talk about because it will only make him feel worse. At
the end of the book while staying in a mental hospital Holden tells the reader, Don t ever tell
anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody (214) After being kicked out of Pencey
Prep, Holden is riding the train home when he engages in conversation with a woman who ends
up being the mom of a fellow classmate. Instead of telling her the truth as to why he is on his way

The Impact Of Reality Television And Its Impact On Society
Reality television is an addicting phenomenon that graces millions of televisions daily. From
shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Life of Kylie, and Love and Hip Hop to series like
My Strange Addiction, Hoarders, and My 600 lb Life, reality TV has left its mark and impacted
today s society in more ways than one. It has slithered into mass media to dominate lives and focus
on real events or situations that have long term effects on its viewers. This brand of television
serves as a reflection of society and often exploits its participants if not glamorizes a certain
lifestyle that may seem unattainable to its viewers. For example, the Kardashians represent success
and the achievement of the American dream that, to many, is elusive. Through the dramatization of
mental illness, Hoarders exploits its viewers and reinforces the perception of these people as
outsiders which lead to further marginalization and hiding of hoarding behavior. Shows that look
down on and criticize certain lifestyles, such as Hoarders, function as a cautionary story and is put
out to the public as a warning of how not to live. Lifestyle themed programs are also connected to
broader campaigns, orchestrated by private and public partners to promote desired behaviors such
as delayed parenting and healthy eating (Oullette). With this program, A E tends to sensationalize
these people and sends the message to its audience that this behavior is monstrous and should be
avoided at all costs. A E chooses to dramatize the manifestation of hoarding as opposed to using the
platform to get to the root of hoarding for both the viewers and the hoarders themselves. Although
some episodes are less offensive than others, Hoarders exploits its subjects and interferes with the
viewer s potential for empathy. The ordinary celebrity promised by television, and the incitement to
perform the real for ratings, accentuates these possibilities and constraints, and raises important
questions about whether ordinary people are empowered or exploited through nonfiction and reality
programming (Oullette). Instead of encouraging proper treatment it presents hoarding as something
that is impossible to relate to and rather than sympathize, viewers are

My Personal Narrative Is Texas
The personal narrative is a literary work written from a specific person s life on a specific
experience that had shaped the specific person s life in such a way that the person is
fundamentally changed forever. My personal narrative encompasses the biggest change in my
life, the move from my home state to the state of North Carolina. Whenever I tell someone that I
used to live in Texas and I loved it there the first thing I always hear is Really. I thought Texas
was a garbage state . What I usually tell them is that they are of course correct. Almost 90% of
texas are tiny towns where some don t have electricity or running water, and even worse are the
small cities full of illegal immigrants and rampant in crime. However like a massive desert of
unpleasantness there is an oasis in the center that makes the trip through the desert all worth it. This
oasis is AustinTexas, known as one of the top four best cities in the entirety of the United States.
The city of Austin is a beautiful place and I can barely put into words the feelings I have about
that city. Austin is a wonderful city and I was born in it; however, I was raised in a small town
right next to austin called Cedar Park.
In Cedar Park born and raised on the playground is where I spent most of my days like most kids
even nowadays; however the parks in Cedar Park were not your ordinary park, these parks were
huge and that s not just my child mind speaking. There were four parts to the park with each part

Ancient Egypt and Beauty Accessories
English Project on Ancient Egypt
Layana: Makeup;
Ancient egyptians wore makeup. They regarded beauty as a sign of holiness. Both men and
women in Egypt wore makeup, and even the statues of God wore makeup. Cleanliness and
appearance of people, were highly regarded. Architects would even find tiny clay pallets in some
tombs, and yes beauty was really important to the Ancient Egyptians, but makeup was a different
story. Some of their makeup would be a sign of helping them with the elements, for example:
repelling insects, or when the sun s rays hit their eyes, the makeup would help them not get
affected by the sun. Also, makeup may be served as a routine to honor their god/goddesses. The
Ancient Egyptians also created black eye makeup, and they used it with galena and kohl. What
galena is, is that it is a bluish gray color, with natural minerals, and kohl is a mix between galena
and soot. They also created green eye makeup using malachite. Malachite is a bright green
mineral, which is made by copper hydroxyl carbonate. The Ancient Egyptians had many reasons
to wear makeup. They would wear eye makeup to define the eye, and to give the eye a more cat
like look. It was also a good way to prevent diseases, or any bad minerals to get into your eyes.
Ancient Egyptians also wore lip gloss, or nail polish but wore them only on special occasions. As
most people know, Ancient Egypthad social classes, and they mostly wear their clothes, or have

would be measured by the probe but is not in fact part of the compound we were intending to
measure, being unaware of this, we most likely recorded it as solely the compound. A way to
avoid this to the best of our ability would be to make sure the water s conductivity is 0 ОјS/cm
before dissolving the compound in it. Secondly, the probe may not always be completely clean,
therefore, a different compound could accidentally be measured if it is not completely washed.
This could be avoided by simply washing the probe more thoroughly in water with a confirmed
conductivity of 0 ОјS/cm, or even better, using a new probe for each compound although that is not

Quiet American Pong Quotes
An essential character in The Quiet American Phuong is quiet and intelligent. Phuong speaks
only when she is spoken to, and her character unlike Pyle and Fowler is very flat when compared
to them. Phuong seems to lack a personality unlike Pyle and Fowler whom both are endowed
with personality by Greene. Due to the fact that she is a women and also Vietnamese she seems
to be secondary compared to what her lovers are occupied with. She is always in their thoughts
however she comes after what each man find important Pyle is preoccupied with his undercover
work while Fowler is focused on himself, then Phuong. Because of her relationship with the
American Pyle and the French Fowler Phuong becomes a symbol for how the US and French
execute their agenda in Vietnam. A quiet character, Phuong seems to hold no particular
personality. In reality she may not have been a quiet character it could have been because the
narrator Fowler holds a cynical outlook on life, only accepts the things he wants to believe, and
ignored her. She is a realistic woman who decides to leaver Fowler for Pyle when it seemed that

Independence Of Indi Mahatma Gandhi
There were many Indian nationalists who had wriggled against the British, who had seized the
whole country of India. On the one hand, nationalists were extremists, who had fought against the
British army and sacrifice their lives for the country, while on the other hand, there were modernists,
who had made peaceful and non violent movements against British. These events were marked as
of prominence importance in the history. One of the greatest examples of nationalists in India was
Mahatma Gandhi, a modernist. He had employed Satyagraha (passive resistance) movements like
Salt March, Mass movements, and Quit India movement. He had also made his clothes from a
spinning wheel instead of buying them from English people. As a result of these movements, he
made India an independent nation and gained lots of reverence from Indians
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born at October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, a small, seaside town
in the Kathiawar peninsula in western India about halfway between Mumbai and Karachi. He
was born at rich family. He was married to Kasturba at age thirteen. Since he was from a rich
background, his relatives were able to send him to England for better education. At England, he
studied at University College of London and became a lawyer. After his education, he went to
South Africa to work as a lawyer. At South Africa, his attendance was required at the lawsuit in

Malnutrition And Malnutrition Among Children
Malnutrition Amongst Children in India
People who are malnourished lack nutrients the body needs for proper health and development.
Malnutrition is the inadequate nutrition caused by the lack of a balanced diet or by disorders of the
digestive system in which the nutrients from food cannot be absorbed properly (dictionary.com).
Chronic malnutrition can cause severe health problems. In recent years, India has had an
unprecedented economic growth. It improved in education, agriculture, and technology, but it still
has the highest prevalence of underweight children in the world. Half of the children are
underweight in Bimaru states of India. (sagepub.com). There are many causes and consequences of
malnutrition. Since malnutrition is affecting a large population of children in India, it is important
to find solutions.
Maternal characteristics are a reason why children are malnourished. A study found that the
prevalence s of stunting, wasting and underweight were greater for children of illiterate mothers,
and lowest among children of mothers with an education of high school or more. Also, when
mother s consume tobacco and alcohol, the child has a greater risk of being malnourished ( S.
Rajarm, Lisa K. Zottarelli and T.S Sunil). Malnutrition starts even when a baby is not even born.
Undernourished mothers give birth to underweight babies, which affects the future physical and
mental well being of the child. The child rearing practices in India unfortunately are highly

The Real Estate Appraisal Process
Real Estate Appraisal Process Executive Summary The real estate appraisal process is a process
that affects nearly everyone who lives in a home. Most people do not have the funding to
purchase a home outright and must rely on financing to purchase their homes. Banks require
that a real estate appraisal be conducted to determine what the market value of a property is so
they know how much the property is worth as collateral for the loan. Therefore the appraisal
serves as the basis for factors such as determining a fair market price, how much collateral a
property can offer a lender, or in some cases even how much a property should be able to earn in
income in a best use scenario. This report will outline the basic steps of evaluating the value of
property as well as discuss some of the considerations surrounding the appraisal process in general.
Three Approaches to Value There are three primary routes to establishing a real estate property
values and these methods differ significantly. The most common for residential real estate is the
determination of market value or the sales comparison approach. This method utilizes sales data to
determine what other similar properties in the local market have sold for. Another method of
determining value is through a cost approach which is more typical in new construction. For
example, when a contractor builds a new house or structure they might charge for the materials and
labor that was used plus some amount of

The man seems to get a bit violent by the end of the poem.
The poem I am comparing with To His Coy Mistress is The Passionate Shepherd To His Love by
Christopher Marlowe. This poem is about a shepherd who is trying to convince his love to
come live with him. My first impressions of this poem is that the shepherd cares a lot for his
love and only wants to be with her, so he is going out of his way offering her lots of precious gifts
to try and convince her to live with him.
In the poem To His Coy Mistress the man tries to seduce his mistress by saying things like being
shy is a crime, This coyness, lady, were no crime. She losing her looks and she s not getting any
prettier, Thy beauty shall no more be found; and then resorts to saying if she doesn t lose her
virginity soon, she will die a virgin and the worms will take her virginity from her in her coffin,
…worms shall try that long served virginity: this comes across as a bit of a threat, which
indicates he is getting impatient and violent.
In the poem The Passionate Shepherd to His Love Christopher Marlowe treats seduction in a
completely different way than Andrew Marvell does in To His Coy Mistress . In The Passionate
Shepherd to His Love the shepherd tries to seduce his love by offering to make her many
wonderful things, Will I make thee

What Impression of Inman is created in chapter 1 of Cold Mountain?
Throughout Chapter one Frazier establishes Inman s character in sufficient detail for the reader
to feel involved in his life and get an insight into the way he thinks. This gives the reader a
feeling of superiority as to their knowledge of Inman and his feelings. Inman is based on Frazier s
great uncle. This gives them a better impression of him and a greater feeling of pity for him and his
situation.
He appears to be very sensitive to his surroundings as the environment of the hospital seems to
affect his feelings in a very negative way.
An example of this is where he thinks about how he obtained his wound.
This shows his strength of character both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact that he is still affected by it shows the grotesqueness of it and also in some ways shows
the weakness of his mental defences. This is because he can not block out the images and ordeals
that he has endured. He is a very humane and sensitive person. The reader can tell this from Inman s
only thought looking on the enemy was, Go home. This shows that even though he is fighting he
wishes that he could stop and let the enemy get back to their lives. This shows how even those
that war has affected in an extreme way can still have a sense of human decency. Even so he still
has to find someone to blame for any unfortunate event. The reader realises this when Inman asks
the blind man Who put out your pair of eyes. This may have come about because
Inman has witnessed so many unfortunate incidents and tragedies at human hands that he has
forgotten about natural causes. The fact that he feels this way is a direct contrast to the way he
feels towards nature and his humane approach to the way people are treated. This is very tactless
and it also shows that he is a very open minded and accepting person. This is shown by his
meeting with the Cherokee tribe. This gives the reader the impression that Inman is very tolerant of
other cultures as he listens to what Swimmer teaches him and only asks minimal questions. This
also shows that he has a lot of self esteem and although he is very open minded he has strongly

The last category for tornadoes is violent ones. With these comes winds greater than two hundred
and five miles per hour, they can last about an hour, and have seventy percent of all deaths from
tornadoes.
Variations. Some variations of tornadoes are that they can be found in the early stages of rapidly
developing thunderstorms. This type of tornado is most common along the range of the Rocky
Mountains, the Plains, and the Western States. Tornadoes may appear nearly transparent until dust
and debris are picked up. Occasionally, two or more tornadoes may occur at the same time.
Another type of tornado is known as a waterspout. This is a weak tornado that forms over warm
water. They are most common along the Gulf Coast and southeastern states. In the western United
States, they occur with cold late fall or late winter storms, during a time when you least expect it to
develop. They occasionally move inland becoming tornadoes that can cause a great deal of damage
and many injuries.
Average Tornado. The average tornado moves from southwest to northeast, but they have been
known to move in any direction. The average forward speed is about thirty miles per hour but can
vary from that to seventy before it really gets going.

Sputnik And The Space Race
On October 4, 1957, the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union commenced
in a sudden, explosive fashion. The Soviet Union launched Sputnik , humanity s very first
artificial satellite, into outer space. Sputnik, meaning fellow traveler in Russian, is now
synonymous with the Cold War and the Space Race. Sputnik s purpose was twofold the first
reason was purely to beat the U.S. to outer space. However, Sputnik had scientific reasons to be in
space as well. The Soviet Union determined five objectives for Sputnik to accomplish during her
time in space: 1. Test the method of placing an artificial satellite into Earth s orbit, 2. Provide
information on the density of the atmosphere by calculating its lifetime in orbit, 3. Test radio and
optical methods of orbital tracking, 4. Determine the effects of radio wave propagation through the
atmosphere, and 5. Check principles of pressurization used on satellites. When the Soviet Union
beat the United States by launching something into space first, the U.S. reaction was palpable.
Public fear and anxiety spread throughout the nation, along with a sense of nationalism and pride.
The United States must answer with a launch, or face humiliation and defeat.
The United States answered the Soviets during the new year of 1958. The new year saw the
launch of Explorer I, the creation of NASA, and the founding of the top secret project Corona. The

sandwich technology was confined almost entirely in aerospace applications before 1960s. From
that time, their characteristics such as high strength to weight ratio and energy efficient started to
attract engineers attention, and many research and studies enables them to be used safely in
modern constructions. While sandwich panels can be made by the combination of a variety of
materials, the structure of them always shares a same pattern. Two relatively thin and strong
facings on both side, and a relatively light and thick core materials in the middle. It is also worth to
notice that the shape of facings can be flat or profiled to satisfy different situations.
Commonly used facing materials can be stainless steel, aluminum, wood, plastic and concrete,
and their core materials may be made of rubber, different kinds of polymers and mineral wool.
Another special way to make core is to produce a honeycomb core, and it can be even made by
paper. The range of choices of facing and core materials gives a flexibility in use of sandwich
panels. This means that designers can choose a specific combination to optimal its behavior for a
special application.

Millions Danny Hales Essay
In the film, Millions, directed by Danny Boyle, a compelling character who intrigues me is the
antagonistic Anthony Cunningham. I find his complex character interesting as he is still grieving
for his mother s tragic death whilst managing to use her death to his advantage. Also, his way of
thinking and dealing with the money is very different to from many other kids his age would do.
His way of thinking has a powerful awareness of right from wrong but throughout the movie he gets
it jumbled up a bit...
The film is set during the changing of all European currencies to a single currency the Euro. Due to
this, we can see that money is going to take a significant role in the film. Anthony (along with his
family) are dealing with the repercussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anthony is still struggling within the stages of grief and is trying hard to mask it. The director
shows this in the opening scene, the two boys delightedly lay down next to each other after
riding their bikes. As the two brothers lay down next to each other, we can see that Damian is
wearing a blue shirt which can often be interpreted as sorrow or calmness. While Anthony is
wearing a red jacket which is normally deciphered as hatred or anger. However under Anthony s
red jacket, we can see that he is also wearing a blue shirt. The director s purpose of doing this is
to foreshadow that Anthony is using ignorance to mask his misery and woe. The director shows us
that Anthony disguises his sadness with annoyance towards the end of the movie when Damian
brings Dorothy into their house. This is shown because we can see Anthony thinking that she is
there to replace their mother. Due to this, we see him whispering a angry hushed tone Is that what
you want? Her in there with him, instead of Mum? . Personally, this is quite understandable
because I know that it is extremely difficult to be going through the stages of grief after someone
who is close to you s death. This could link back to my first paragraph Anthony wants to keep a
close relationship with Damian by trying to set a good example by moving on. Anthony struggling
through the hardships may also be why he is pulled in by tempting money from

How Deflation Impacted The Commodity Market And The Labor...
Introduction Since the global economic crisis happened in 2008, it had a severe impact on the
worldwide economy. Many countries experienced a great recession for a long time period,
which made hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs, large number of firms failed to pay
back the loan and many investment banks went to bankruptcy. Recently, we found that many
countries hadn t yet come out from the big shock of the financial crisis; they started facing a
disastrous influence on deflation. Deflation was the reduction in the price of goods and
services, which was an indication to show that the economic conditions were bad at that
moment. In this essay, I would focus on discussing how deflation impacted the commodity
market and the labor market and how to use policies to relieve the deflation. Deflation Impact on
the Commodity Market Recently, we found that the oil price dropped a lot; one year ago, a
barrel of Brent crude cost $110 and today it was merely $60, which resulted in 45% decrease in
the oil price through economies. Not only did the oil price cut, the price of goods and services
also dropped in the worldwide economy. When the price of goods and services declined,
consumers would like to consume more and purchase more products, because they could pay less
to get the same thing as before. And for firms, cheaper inputs lowered the cost of manufacturing
goods, which resulted in the increase in the overall profit. What s more, we all know that energy
use (oil) is

Argument Against Immigration
Picture rallies people chanting We are one holding signs saying Gente con Derechos Humanos or

yet aren t we the people of America? Aren t we supposed to be able to decide How America should
be made? So the question is what is the national action toward immigration? Or better yet how does
the nation feel about immigration? According to Center for American Progress information from
five recent polls from Fox News to Latino Decisions Americans support smart solutions to
immigration reform and reject deportation. But how? It s says that Americans support a pathway
to citizenship for people who are part of our communities, learn English, payback taxes and they
reject tearing these families apart. This has a personal effect to many people including myself
because there are families being separated daily, being accused as criminals, illegal but yet not
knowing the purpose for coming to America. This drastically affects families. How? It affects The
USA, Immigrants, and their children but there is also ways to prevent deportation.

Development of Human Language, Neurolinguistics and...
Most people take it for granted that children will develop cognition, language and communication
skills when they reach a certain stage in their life. In fact, various studies have been conducted
regarding these aspects of human development. A common topic for debate is the issue of nature
versus nurture, wherein some groups support the idea that language and cognitive development is
as natural as breathing while other groups contend that external factors influence these
characteristics of humanprogress. Researchers are given the opportunity to dig deeper into this issue
through cases involving feral, isolated and confined children.

Language development among humans normally occurs rapidly from the time the child is born to
around the age of five. There are generally accepted language learning milestones that every child
has to achieve even though the pace and age at which these are achieved may vary from child to
child ( Language Development ). There are several theories regarding language acquisition and
development. Chomsky theorized that people have an inborn ability to learn language through a
special biological mechanism, a species specific biological endowment, which he referred to as a
Language Acquisition Device that is found in the brain. He likened this to a universal grammar that
is recognized by all humans. His theories were also considered as Nativist in comparison to the
Behaviorist theories which stipulate that language acquisition is achieved as a result of providing
rewards for imitations (Rieber ; Theories About How Young Children Acquire and Develop
Language ). Piaget contends that cognition precedes language development and children simply use
language to represent what they are thinking. Vygotsky argued that language is primarily a form of
social communication, which eventually leads to language and cognition. More recent theorists
claim that the child is an active part of their holistic development with language acquisition being
the result of cognitive, emotional and social interactions ( Theories About How Young Children
Acquire and Develop Language ).

How Has Society Changed Over The Old Years
Have you ever thought about how many things have altered from only one generation to another?
The things that come to my mind when I think of the old days is how different the place and
community the last generation grew up in was. It definitely wasn t as dangerous or protected as
our world is today. The kids back then had more freedom and trust in their communities because of
the parenting, society, and people s views on different things. The first thing that I feel has changed
from the last generationto now, is parenting. My mom has told me so many stories about how her
parents have just let her do most of what she wanted while growing up. She was able to walk
down to gas stations by herself at the age of only 7. My dad told me when his family used to go
get wood, his parents would let him ride on top of the wood stack going fast down twisting, bumpy
roads. Both of their parents had done this with no worries. They trusted the way the worldwas and
how the people were back then. Now days, our parents are worried about everything. They want to
know exactly where you are at and who you re with all the time. I feel like parents have a hard time
trusting people because of all the things people do now.

Many of kids get involved in after school activities because that s just what everyone does. Kids
are hardly home to spend time with their families anymore because they are jumping from
activity to activity. This can be another reason we don t get to go out as much because parents
will want you home to talk and hangout with them more. It could also be because our generation
has a lot more things happening, so parents are more worried about their kids being out. My mom

Beatrice and I stopped by a creek for a short rest; we lay together under a tree and l looked up

Unaware of the time I woke up dumbstruck as heavy rain shoots down from the sky and gustily
wind pushing hard against my face with the sound of thunder crackling all around me. Beatrice
and I struggling to get up we hurried to our carriage and quickly took refuge, with our clothes wet

discuss or how I can write my first homework. I could mention some improvement in my skills
after started this class; it helped to develop my creative thinking skills, I learned many things such
as writing objectively, making Quotationmarks and coordinating my ideas better in this language.
This class has helped me to express my ideas more clearly in an essay, it has allowed me to
create essay organized and understandable to the reader. I did all my assignment on time although
many times I had to review them. In many times homework became hard for me and I had to ask
my classmate to help. I took the initiative to read material in youtube about this course but I think it
did not help me too much. I know that my gradeis an accurately reflect of my performance. At the
end of this course, I expect to receive a final grade like B+, B , or C+ because I came all my

Medieval Weapons
From the beginning, there has always been a need to protect ourselves from combat and other
dangerous situations. From the simple shields and breastplates in the middle ages to the more
complex and more advanced body armor we use today that requires research by scientists and
engineers. War was not always charging into battle with guns and tanks. Battles were simple
with the main weapons being swords and knifes. Today we need it to protect us from other
things like guns or explosives. One of the earliest forms of armor used was animals. They used
the pelts or hides and fur, not for protecting you in battle, but more for protecting you from the
obstacles of the wilderness. They used these items like a coat to keep your body warm from the
cold weather. They also used them to provide protection while hunting or exploring. It protected
them from scratches, bruises, hypothermia, etc. Warriors wore protective helmets as early as the
bronze age (Byam 28). Since helmets were limited, only the higher ranks wore helmets.... Show

Chainmail, also known as mail, was made up of metal rings interlocking into one big piece. The
many rings made cutting through it very difficult, even with a very sharp sword. This made
chainmail one of the most successful and longest lasting of armors. However, making mail
required a lot of time and energy. So, they started using plate armor. Plate armor was cheaper to
make making it more affordable and it provided a bit more protection than chainmail. Plate armor
slowly started to replace chainmail armor, but chainmail was still being used with plate armor. One
of the troubles with plate armor is that it can t protect many of the joints. So, they continued using
chainmail to protect areas that plate armor couldn t like the armpit or the groin. Around the 15th

Four Noble Truths Chapter Summary
In chapter four of Buddhism: A Very Short Introduction , Damien Keown, discusses the Four Noble
Truths and explores focal principles of the Buddha s teachings. The ultimate goal of Buddhism is to
put an end to suffering and rebirth. (Keown, 43) to attain nirvana. This is mostly through driving a
moral life, and somewhat through the wisdom picked up by studying the Four Noble Truths. In this
paper, I will be stating why is suffering an inevitable part of life according to Buddhism. As well as,
how can we overcome suffering. All in which will prove that Buddhism, life is suffering and it is
an unavoidable part of life.

The Noble Eightfold Path also known as the Middle Way is the practical method of achieving the
end of suffering. The path consists of eight factors divided into three categories; Wisdom, Mortality
and Meditation. The eight factors are Right Understanding which is the understanding of suffering,
its origin, its cessation and the way leading to the cessation of suffering. Right Resolve which is
positive intentions that we aspire to are rejection, free from craving, good will, free from dislike
and compassion, free from cruelty. Right Speech, Right Action and Right Livelihood are factors of
right conduct on the world which are fundamental for happiness. The Buddha shows us that hurtful
behavior conveys agony to both others and to ourselves. Just by avoiding harm to the world we
would be able to bring an end to our own suffering. Right Effort, Right Mindfulness and Right
Meditation are meditation factors of the Path that manage the development of the mental state
essential for us to bring an end to our old habits of false thinking. In meditation we figure out how
to utilize our minds to give up the thoughts that cause us suffering. We get in touch with things as
they may be. When this is done, we become free. The Eightfold Path is thus a path of self
transformation: an intellectual, emotional, and moral restructuring in which a person is reoriented

Hip Of Hip Hop Music
Hip Hops Redemption Hip hop music is described as, a subculture especially of inner city youths
who are typically devotees of rap music . (Merriam.com) Hip hop music is one of the most
listened to genres in history. Hip hop music started in the mid 1970 s, but some say that it
started much earlier. Many people today would argue that Hip Hop is disgraceful now a days,
and that it has no positive message given. Me personally, I would agree since the days have
changed over time. I could also argue that music as a whole has changed and wouldn t always be
the same, but that s not the main point. The main point is to show how Hip hop music is
actually positive. For starters, music has always been very special to people. Music can affect
people, even more than people affect people. Think about it, even in the bible days, Lucifer was
the ruler over music. God s most beautiful angel controlled music and the music set the tone in
heaven. Yes, music has a very strong impact on humans, animals, and deities out there. Hip Hop
is an awesome form of music. Hip Hop started off from poetry. Yes Langston Hughes would be
known as a lyricist in today s era. It was meant to express the troubles and sadness throughout the
lives of blacks. Hip Hop has gone through it s changed throughout time. As technology advanced
Hip hop has also advanced too an extent . Usually the older generation, when hearing todays Hip

What Is Stop And Frisk
What is stop and frisk? Who uses stop and frisk? According to Haq stop and frisk is a program that
enables a police officer to stop, question, and frisk a person for weapons (1). This means that a
police officer can only search someone if they possess reasonable suspicion and follow their
guidelines. People should have open ideas of ways of reducing gun violence and not closing

city yet some people may think otherwise and think it s not acceptable. The practice of stop and
frisk is necessary to protect the people and to be capable to reduce crime off the streets; without
it crime rates like gun violence would increase drastically. In James Q. Wilson essay Just Take

effect on those who purchase firearms illegally. For example legal constraints on the lawful
purchase of guns will have little effect on the illegal use of guns (Wilson 125). Wilson is saying

Perhaps worst of all, even those who do manage to graduate too, rarely end up in careers that
require a college education. Many college graduates are still unemployed because they have not

Wormian Bone Formation Case Study

Annotated Bibliography Draft
Arsdale, A. P., Clark, J. L. (2010). Re examining the relationship between cranial deformation and
extra sutural bone formation. International Journal of Osteoarchaeology,22(1), 119 126.
doi:10.1002/oa.1188
This study aimed to see whether cranial deformation leads to an increase in the presence
/occurrence of wormian bones. Finding appropriate samples to test this is particularly difficult
because Hanihara and Ishida s (2001) study of undeformed crania from a worldwide sample
demonstrated that at least five types of extra sutural bone show a large degree of between
population variance in terms of frequency of occurrence. This study analyzed a sample of 59 crania

It also discussed the debated causal factors for wormian bones. Both genetic and environmental
factors have been discussed as possible causes and various theories exist that support both genetic
and environmental factors as possible influencers. For example, mechanical deformation of the
cranium (such as intentional deformation like the cradle boarding practiced in ancient cultures) has
shown to affect the number and location of wormian bones but does not seem to affect overall
incidence of them, which can be seen by the case study in the Arsdale article. In addition, some
studies have shown that the occurrence of wormian bones in the anterior fontanelle may have some
genetic basis. Anther support for genetic factors is that wormian bones definitely have pathological
and diagnostic implications. Because wormian bones are consistently seen in some autosomal
dominant genetic disorders, they are used as markers in the diagnostic disorders like
pyknodysostosis, osteogenesis imperfecta, rickets, cleidocranial dysplasia, hypothyroidism, Down
syndrome, etc. I don t think environmental and genetic factors are mutually exclusive. They are
both supported hypotheses, though how they intersect is yet to be

Single Point Incremental Forming Of Conventional Holes...
Single Point Incremental Forming Conventional hole flanging is a forming procedure used to
make round or awry flanges. In this procedure, a holed sheet, inflexibly settle to a pass on with a
clear holder, is plastically distorted chiefly by bending and circumferential extending with a punch.
In hole flanging by single point incremental forming (SPIF), a level sheet with a pre cut hole is
shaped by a solitary point rotating instrument that continuously delivers a smooth, round flanged
lip. The forming device is driven by a CNC machine taking after continuously a pre built up
direction. The material is currently predominantly distorted by a mix of circumferential and
outspread extending and bending. There are numerous modern utilizations of this procedure, for
example, fortifying the edge of the holes, enhancing its appearance or giving extra backing to
joining sheet parts to tubes, among others.
Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is an as of late incredible sheet metal part creation
procedure that is step by step developing towards modern applicability. In this procedure a sheet
metal part is shaped in a stepwise manner by a CNC controlled spherical rotating tool without the
requirement for a supporting (fractional) die. This system permits a moderately quick and shabby
production of small series of sheet metal parts.
In the SPIF procedure generic, freestyle shapes can be created utilizing a standard, circular, CNC

Social Injustice In 12 Angry Men
12 Angry Men
In the year 1957, the classic movie, 12 Angry Men (1957), was originally released in the United
States. This movie highlights the social injustice caused by racism throughout the country in the
late 1950 s and into all of the 1960 s. As director Sidney Lumet s first movie, the plot follows
Aristotle s rule for dramatic structure nearly to a tee. The director s usage of Aristotle s rule for
dramatic structure creates an easily understood series of events that demonstrates what had
happened during a first degree murder case being relayed through the jury s deliberation. Through
the method used for revealing information, Lumet was able to successfully show the racism
amongst many people in the middle of the twentieth century. ... Show more content on

The members of the jury were no exception. At least half of the members of the jury
discriminated against the defendant based off of the simple fact that these men believed him to
be a criminal, partially based off of the boy s father s criminal record and the boy s own criminal
record, but mostly stemming from the idea that he was a minority from the slums of New York
City. The jurors all looked at his previous record, but took his entire testimony with a grain of salt.
Rather than listen to what the boy had to say, the members of the jury focused on any of the other
witnesses testimonies to put this young man behind bars until his execution date.
These men were not a jury of his peers. Most of them came from at least the middle class. Most
were born and raised in the United States and had nothing that people would see as something to
treat any of them as lesser as people. Lastly, practically all of these men were at least twice this
boy s age. The motif kept resurfacing on how this boy s life was hanging in what should have been
a jury of his peers, rather it was hanging in the hands of twelve men that had very little to nothing in
common with this

The Florida Museum Of Natural History
The Florida Museum of Natural History is a government sponsored museum that is incorporated
into the University of Florida in the city of Gainesville. The museum was established by Frank
Pickel, a professor of natural science at the Florida Agricultural College in Lake City, and was
dedicated to understanding, preserving, and interpreting biological diversity and cultural heritage.
The state of Floridaformally assumed ownership of the museum in 1917 and established it as part of
the state university system. The purpose of the museum is set by Florida State Statue 1004.56 and
requires the museum to collect and maintain a depository of biological, archaeological, and
ethnographic specimens and materials in sufficient numbers and quantities to provide within the
state and region a base for research on the variety, evolution, and conservation of wild species; the
composition, distribution, importance, and functioning of natural ecosystems; and the distribution
of prehistoric and historic archaeological sites and an understanding of the aboriginal and early
European cultures that occupied them. The major weaknesses of the museum are in the absences of
interactive educational displays, adjuncts for the states educational system, and the inability to
reach the vast majority of its target audience. The collection policy and mission statements require
the museum to provide statewide access of sufficient biological specimens for education and
research. The current museum has

The Characteristics Of Ronald Reagan
World leaders have immense power. Some use that power for good; others use it for evil.
Whether they are looked upon fondly or not, world leaders are still loved by many people. They
can inspire good character, good morals, and responsibility. The best example of this is how
people view the United States presidents. Some of the former presidents are considered heroes,
and even depicted to be on the same level as gods. These people have been so highly praised, that
saying anything bad about them is looked down upon. There are statues and monuments dedicated
to presidents such aslike George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy
Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy, and so on. This illustrates the fact thatThe point is, former US
presidents are held in high regard. One of these presidents held to this high standard was the US
president throughout most of the 1980s. His name was Ronald Reagan. ReaganHe went from being
a typecasted, Good Guy actor, to politician, to becoming President of the United Statesof America.
Ronald Reagan s background as a performer contributed directly to his effectiveness as a politician.
One of the character traits that Ronald Reagan embodied was good public speaking. He was able
to convince people that he was on their side and that he was there to resolve improve the problems
in the American government. During his inaugural speech in 1981, he said, government is not a
solution to our problems; government is the problem. In the same

The Importance Of Physical Beauty In Cyrano De Bergerac
In today s day and age, people are judged not on their inner beauty, but rather, their physical
beauty. This desire to hold judgement against outer beauty slowly ruins self confidence. In Cyrano
de Bergerac this judgement on outer beauty makes the characters feel insecure about their weaker
qualities. This is demonstrated by Cyrano s belief that people think lowly of him because of his
appearance. In contrast, Christian finds himself physically attractive but, with little eloquence and
fears his handsome looks is all people see of him. And finally, Roxanne contributes to this issue by
expressing her judgement on people based on their looks.
Appearance does not portend everything, but in most cases, is the quality that is judged
predominately. Cyrano is an astonishingly intelligent, and well spoken man, but has unappealing
looks. His appearance affects his self confidence considering that he believes everyone looks at
him as being an ugly individual. When Roxanne is explaining the man, she is in love with, Cyrano
assumes she is explaining his characteristics, until she says his face shines with wit and intelligence,
he s proud, noble, young, fearless, handsome... (Cyrano de Bergerac, Rostand, pg. 77). Cyrano
hears that the man is handsome and loses all hope, because to himself he is not considered
handsome. Having been judged about his physical features, his self confidence is poor. Although,
he believes his outer beauty decides on how people envision him, he is a very intelligent individual
and has marvelous inside qualities, which many people recognize and respect. If only he could
realize that his outer beauty is not nearly important as his inner beauty, maybe then he could see
how important his strongest qualities are.
Being well dressed, groomed, and being physically appealing has its perks, as appearance is what a
first impression would be based on if no conversation is involved. But outer beauty does not
indicate a person s personality and intelligence. In regards to Christian, he is a very handsome
character, but his word choice and poetic sensibility are very poor. He is always at a loss of words
and believes he is a dim witted individual, especially when he tells Cyrano that ... I m one of those

Feb 10 Hamilton Case
MEMO
This memo is regarding Hamilton Corporation and the fraud that occurred. When people make
decisions they don t always do it with the right mindset. There are limitations in our judgment
processes and we can identify methods to mitigate bias and improve judgment (KPMG Judgment
Framework). The four common tendencies that cause limitations in our judgment processes are,
availability, confirmation, overconfidence, and anchoring. In this memo I will explain each of the
four tendencies, talk about which tendency I believe to have manifested in the Hamilton case,
clarify issues relating to auditing the warranty reserve and describe the alternatives that should be
considered in auditing the warranty reserve, and finally provide factors that ... Show more content

Background on Hamilton
Hamilton (the Company) was a subsidiary of Motor Company (MC). In 1999 the Company spun
off from MC and incorporated. After the separation MC informed the Company that they owed
$350 $800 million in warranty claims related to sales that occurred prior to the separation in 1999.
Hamilton s management believed that any warranty claims related to sales prior to the separation
should be limited to the reserve amount that was agreed upon separation. MC wanted the full
payment for what they owed relating to warranty claims. MC remained Hamilton s largest client
and because of that, Hamilton s management was motivated to find a solution that would appease
MC. Management realized that in paying anything over $100 million to MC would cause a
significant reduction in operating income. For this reason, management had significant incentives
to mask the true level of warranty expense in order to meet analysts forecasts. Management made
the decision to report favorable results, no matter what.
The tendencies or bias manifested in Hamilton Corporation
Hamilton s auditor employed multiple tendencies. Confirmation was used in the scheme to support
management when they obtained a letter from the Company s actuary that provided the reasonable
range for pension assumptions that had been made in the past. Management also convinced MC to
allow the meeting minutes between the two companies to

How Milk Are A Dairy Product That Is Formed By Coagulation
Milk curds are a dairy product that is formed by coagulation, also known as clotting. Curds can
be formed when rennet or any acidic liquid is added to milk. Lemon juice and vinegar are two
common acidic liquids that provide benefits when creating the formation of milk curds. Increased
acids, such as vinegar or lemon juice, force proteins contained in milk to group together and create
solid masses, which are identified as curds. Any remaining liquid after this process is wheyprotein.
Cheesecurds contain proteins and fat from milk. They are produced by a formation called
coagulation of casein. Casein is unique in the way that it is not coagulated by heat. Milk becomes
sour when lactic acid bacteria streptococci and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The casein molecules can be bothered and separated from the whey by an addition of acid,
which disturbs the casein micelle structure. Emma Christensen, a graduate of the Cambridge
School for Culinary Arts said, When milk becomes too acidic, like when we add lemon juice or
when it goes sour, the negative charge on the casein groupings becomes neutralized. Now
instead of pushing each other apart, the casein starts to clump together. Changed combinations of
the controlled amount of acid added to milk and enzymatic hydrolysis of casein are the
foundations of different types of cheese made in industries. Enzymatic hydrolysis is the process
where enzymes ease the bonding in molecules with the addition of the elements found in water.
This process assists in digestion and the formation of cheese. Lemon juice is an enzyme that is
used to speed up the process of coagulation. Addition of acid to milk assists the separation of
curds from whey and controls the growth of undesirable bacteria in cheese. An example of adding
lemon juice to heated milk and causing the milk to form curds is Paneer cheese. Milk contains
86% water, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and vitamins. Casein and whey, the main
proteins, account for approximately 3.5% of components found in cow s milk. The controlled
process of removing water from cow s milk is known as cheese making. Any liquid

Netflix Movie And Book Comparison Paper
Many authors have a specific audience in mind when they begin to create their work. This can be
seen in many different websites on the same type of information. I chose to compare the websites
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4834206/ and http://www.lemonysnicket.com/. The first website is
the IMDB information page for the new Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events and the
second websiteis the official website of the book series of the same title. Both websites provide
information on this book series.
The primary audience of the IMDB website is professional critics. These critics have professional
insight and review books, TV shows, and movies for a living. They are adults that have been
hired to critique the new series. On the IMDB website, these critics can post their reviews of the
new Netflix series and they can also rate the series. Their comments on the series will be
reviewed by other people interested in watching the series. In contrast, the primary audience of
www.lemonysnicket.com is the readers of the book. Due to the fact that this is the official
website for the books, the readers and fans of the book series trust this website and would visit it.
The fans are mostly in their teenage years or early twenties and they know the series by heart. ...

website, the actors can learn more about Lemony Snicket, the author of the book, and each of the
13 books in the series. They can also buy each book off of this website to read, which will help

  • 2. Milosevic Slobodan Research Paper Introduction Throughout Eastern Europe, many ordinary people took political action around the fall of the communist regime. Protests ranged from small events to large, violent protests that changed the composition within Yugoslavia. The dynamics of political elites and citizens began to take a different shape as the structure of the authoritarian regime evolved. Yugoslavia suffered from instability due to rapid changes socially, politically, and economically in which paved way for Milosevic Slobodan. However, there was essentially two main reasons that allowed the nationalistic Serbian mobilization of Kosovo Albanians: 1) Ordinary people adopted the ideals of the elites and 2) open opportunity during the fall of communism. Although these main reasons may overlap each other, they both are definitive in the emergence of a new leader. As revolutions prove to break ground when opportunities arise, Milosevic seized his chance at power. Nationalistic mobilization would monopolize within the Serbian community and reawaken historic ties with the Kosovo Albanians. The anti bureaucratic revolution progressed at the weakening of the Yugoslavian government. Essentially, revolutionary movements are highly opportunistic, which tends to occur in non democratic regimes with a weakened central control. Nationalist Mobilization Nationalist studies ... • 7. The Impact Of Reality Television And Its Impact On Society Reality television is an addicting phenomenon that graces millions of televisions daily. From shows like Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Life of Kylie, and Love and Hip Hop to series like My Strange Addiction, Hoarders, and My 600 lb Life, reality TV has left its mark and impacted today s society in more ways than one. It has slithered into mass media to dominate lives and focus on real events or situations that have long term effects on its viewers. This brand of television serves as a reflection of society and often exploits its participants if not glamorizes a certain lifestyle that may seem unattainable to its viewers. For example, the Kardashians represent success and the achievement of the American dream that, to many, is elusive. Through the dramatization of mental illness, Hoarders exploits its viewers and reinforces the perception of these people as outsiders which lead to further marginalization and hiding of hoarding behavior. Shows that look down on and criticize certain lifestyles, such as Hoarders, function as a cautionary story and is put out to the public as a warning of how not to live. Lifestyle themed programs are also connected to broader campaigns, orchestrated by private and public partners to promote desired behaviors such as delayed parenting and healthy eating (Oullette). With this program, A E tends to sensationalize these people and sends the message to its audience that this behavior is monstrous and should be avoided at all costs. A E chooses to dramatize the manifestation of hoarding as opposed to using the platform to get to the root of hoarding for both the viewers and the hoarders themselves. Although some episodes are less offensive than others, Hoarders exploits its subjects and interferes with the viewer s potential for empathy. The ordinary celebrity promised by television, and the incitement to perform the real for ratings, accentuates these possibilities and constraints, and raises important questions about whether ordinary people are empowered or exploited through nonfiction and reality programming (Oullette). Instead of encouraging proper treatment it presents hoarding as something that is impossible to relate to and rather than sympathize, viewers are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My personal narrative encompasses the biggest change in my life, the move from my home state to the state of North Carolina. Whenever I tell someone that I used to live in Texas and I loved it there the first thing I always hear is Really. I thought Texas was a garbage state . What I usually tell them is that they are of course correct. Almost 90% of texas are tiny towns where some don t have electricity or running water, and even worse are the small cities full of illegal immigrants and rampant in crime. However like a massive desert of unpleasantness there is an oasis in the center that makes the trip through the desert all worth it. This oasis is AustinTexas, known as one of the top four best cities in the entirety of the United States. The city of Austin is a beautiful place and I can barely put into words the feelings I have about that city. Austin is a wonderful city and I was born in it; however, I was raised in a small town right next to austin called Cedar Park. • 10. Ancient Egypt and Beauty Accessories English Project on Ancient Egypt Layana: Makeup; Ancient egyptians wore makeup. They regarded beauty as a sign of holiness. Both men and women in Egypt wore makeup, and even the statues of God wore makeup. Cleanliness and appearance of people, were highly regarded. Architects would even find tiny clay pallets in some tombs, and yes beauty was really important to the Ancient Egyptians, but makeup was a different story. Some of their makeup would be a sign of helping them with the elements, for example: repelling insects, or when the sun s rays hit their eyes, the makeup would help them not get affected by the sun. Also, makeup may be served as a routine to honor their god/goddesses. The Ancient Egyptians also created black eye makeup, and they used it with galena and kohl. What galena is, is that it is a bluish gray color, with natural minerals, and kohl is a mix between galena and soot. They also created green eye makeup using malachite. Malachite is a bright green mineral, which is made by copper hydroxyl carbonate. The Ancient Egyptians had many reasons to wear makeup. They would wear eye makeup to define the eye, and to give the eye a more cat like look. It was also a good way to prevent diseases, or any bad minerals to get into your eyes. Ancient Egyptians also wore lip gloss, or nail polish but wore them only on special occasions. • 15. The Real Estate Appraisal Process Real Estate Appraisal Process Executive Summary The real estate appraisal process is a process that affects nearly everyone who lives in a home. Most people do not have the funding to purchase a home outright and must rely on financing to purchase their homes. Banks require that a real estate appraisal be conducted to determine what the market value of a property is so they know how much the property is worth as collateral for the loan. Therefore the appraisal serves as the basis for factors such as determining a fair market price, how much collateral a property can offer a lender, or in some cases even how much a property should be able to earn in income in a best use scenario. This report will outline the basic steps of evaluating the value of property as well as discuss some of the considerations surrounding the appraisal process in general. Three Approaches to Value There are three primary routes to establishing a real estate property values and these methods differ significantly. The most common for residential real estate is the determination of market value or the sales comparison approach. This method utilizes sales data to determine what other similar properties in the local market have sold for. Another method of determining value is through a cost approach which is more typical in new construction. For example, when a contractor builds a new house or structure they might charge for the materials and labor that was used plus some amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My first impressions of this poem is that the shepherd cares a lot for his love and only wants to be with her, so he is going out of his way offering her lots of precious gifts to try and convince her to live with him. In the poem To His Coy Mistress the man tries to seduce his mistress by saying things like being shy is a crime, This coyness, lady, were no crime. Throughout Chapter one Frazier establishes Inman s character in sufficient detail for the reader to feel involved in his life and get an insight into the way he thinks. This gives the reader a feeling of superiority as to their knowledge of Inman and his feelings. Inman is based on Frazier s great uncle. This gives them a better impression of him and a greater feeling of pity for him and his situation. The fact that he is still affected by it shows the grotesqueness of it and also in some ways shows the weakness of his mental defences. This is because he can not block out the images and ordeals that he has endured. He is a very humane and sensitive person. The reader can tell this from Inman s only thought looking on the enemy was, Go home. This shows that even though he is fighting he wishes that he could stop and let the enemy get back to their lives. This shows how even those that war has affected in an extreme way can still have a sense of human decency. Even so he still has to find someone to blame for any unfortunate event. The reader realises this when Inman asks the blind man Who put out your pair of eyes. This may have come about because Inman has witnessed so many unfortunate incidents and tragedies at human hands that he has forgotten about natural causes. The fact that he feels this way is a direct contrast to the way he feels towards nature and his humane approach to the way people are treated. This is very tactless and it also shows that he is a very open minded and accepting person. This is shown by his meeting with the Cherokee tribe. This gives the reader the impression that Inman is very tolerant of other cultures as he listens to what Swimmer teaches him and only asks minimal questions. • 20. Sputnik And The Space Race On October 4, 1957, the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union commenced in a sudden, explosive fashion. The Soviet Union launched Sputnik , humanity s very first artificial satellite, into outer space. Sputnik, meaning fellow traveler in Russian, is now synonymous with the Cold War and the Space Race. Sputnik s purpose was twofold the first reason was purely to beat the U.S. to outer space. However, Sputnik had scientific reasons to be in space as well. The Soviet Union determined five objectives for Sputnik to accomplish during her time in space: 1. Test the method of placing an artificial satellite into Earth s orbit, 2. Provide information on the density of the atmosphere by calculating its lifetime in orbit, 3. Test radio and optical methods of orbital tracking, 4. Determine the effects of radio wave propagation through the atmosphere, and 5. Check principles of pressurization used on satellites. When the Soviet Union beat the United States by launching something into space first, the U.S. reaction was palpable. Public fear and anxiety spread throughout the nation, along with a sense of nationalism and pride. The United States must answer with a launch, or face humiliation and defeat. The United States answered the Soviets during the new year of 1958. The new year saw the launch of Explorer I, the creation of NASA, and the founding of the top secret project Corona. • 21. A Study On Sandwich Panels 1.Introduction Sandwich panels has been widely used in different kinds of constructions nowadays, though sandwich technology was confined almost entirely in aerospace applications before 1960s. From that time, their characteristics such as high strength to weight ratio and energy efficient started to attract engineers attention, and many research and studies enables them to be used safely in modern constructions. While sandwich panels can be made by the combination of a variety of materials, the structure of them always shares a same pattern. Two relatively thin and strong facings on both side, and a relatively light and thick core materials in the middle. It is also worth to notice that the shape of facings can be flat or profiled to satisfy different situations. Commonly used facing materials can be stainless steel, aluminum, wood, plastic and concrete, and their core materials may be made of rubber, different kinds of polymers and mineral wool. Another special way to make core is to produce a honeycomb core, and it can be even made by paper. The range of choices of facing and core materials gives a flexibility in use of sandwich panels. This means that designers can choose a specific combination to optimal its behavior for a special application. Fig.1 Flat facing sandwich panel Fig.2 Profiled facing sandwich panel Fig.3 Sandwich panel with honeycomb core The application of sandwich panels is still expending in engineering field. • 22. Millions Danny Hales Essay In the film, Millions, directed by Danny Boyle, a compelling character who intrigues me is the antagonistic Anthony Cunningham. I find his complex character interesting as he is still grieving for his mother s tragic death whilst managing to use her death to his advantage. Also, his way of thinking and dealing with the money is very different to from many other kids his age would do. His way of thinking has a powerful awareness of right from wrong but throughout the movie he gets it jumbled up a bit... The film is set during the changing of all European currencies to a single currency the Euro. Due to this, we can see that money is going to take a significant role in the film. The director shows this in the opening scene, the two boys delightedly lay down next to each other after riding their bikes. As the two brothers lay down next to each other, we can see that Damian is wearing a blue shirt which can often be interpreted as sorrow or calmness. While Anthony is wearing a red jacket which is normally deciphered as hatred or anger. However under Anthony s red jacket, we can see that he is also wearing a blue shirt. The director s purpose of doing this is to foreshadow that Anthony is using ignorance to mask his misery and woe. The director shows us that Anthony disguises his sadness with annoyance towards the end of the movie when Damian brings Dorothy into their house. This is shown because we can see Anthony thinking that she is there to replace their mother. Due to this, we see him whispering a angry hushed tone Is that what you want? Her in there with him, instead of Mum? . Personally, this is quite understandable because I know that it is extremely difficult to be going through the stages of grief after someone who is close to you s death. This could link back to my first paragraph Anthony wants to keep a close relationship with Damian by trying to set a good example by moving on. • 23. How Deflation Impacted The Commodity Market And The Labor... Introduction Since the global economic crisis happened in 2008, it had a severe impact on the worldwide economy. Many countries experienced a great recession for a long time period, which made hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs, large number of firms failed to pay back the loan and many investment banks went to bankruptcy. Recently, we found that many countries hadn t yet come out from the big shock of the financial crisis; they started facing a disastrous influence on deflation. Deflation was the reduction in the price of goods and services, which was an indication to show that the economic conditions were bad at that moment. In this essay, I would focus on discussing how deflation impacted the commodity market and the labor market and how to use policies to relieve the deflation. Deflation Impact on the Commodity Market Recently, we found that the oil price dropped a lot; one year ago, a barrel of Brent crude cost $110 and today it was merely $60, which resulted in 45% decrease in the oil price through economies. Not only did the oil price cut, the price of goods and services also dropped in the worldwide economy. When the price of goods and services declined, consumers would like to consume more and purchase more products, because they could pay less to get the same thing as before. And for firms, cheaper inputs lowered the cost of manufacturing goods, which resulted in the increase in the overall profit. What s more, we all know that energy use (oil) is ... Most people take it for granted that children will develop cognition, language and communication skills when they reach a certain stage in their life. Language development among humans normally occurs rapidly from the time the child is born to around the age of five. There are generally accepted language learning milestones that every child has to achieve even though the pace and age at which these are achieved may vary from child to child ( Language Development ). There are several theories regarding language acquisition and development. Chomsky theorized that people have an inborn ability to learn language through a special biological mechanism, a species specific biological endowment, which he referred to as a Language Acquisition Device that is found in the brain. He likened this to a universal grammar that is recognized by all humans. His theories were also considered as Nativist in comparison to the Behaviorist theories which stipulate that language acquisition is achieved as a result of providing rewards for imitations (Rieber ; Theories About How Young Children Acquire and Develop Language ). Piaget contends that cognition precedes language development and children simply use language to represent what they are thinking. Vygotsky argued that language is primarily a form of social communication, which eventually leads to language and cognition. More recent theorists claim that the child is an active part of their holistic development with language acquisition being the result of cognitive, emotional and social interactions ( Theories About How Young Children Acquire and Develop Language ). The things that come to my mind when I think of the old days is how different the place and community the last generation grew up in was. It definitely wasn t as dangerous or protected as our world is today. The kids back then had more freedom and trust in their communities because of the parenting, society, and people s views on different things. The first thing that I feel has changed from the last generationto now, is parenting. My mom has told me so many stories about how her parents have just let her do most of what she wanted while growing up. She was able to walk down to gas stations by herself at the age of only 7. My dad told me when his family used to go get wood, his parents would let him ride on top of the wood stack going fast down twisting, bumpy roads. Both of their parents had done this with no worries. They trusted the way the worldwas and how the people were back then. Now days, our parents are worried about everything. They want to know exactly where you are at and who you re with all the time. War was not always charging into battle with guns and tanks. Battles were simple with the main weapons being swords and knifes. Today we need it to protect us from other things like guns or explosives. One of the earliest forms of armor used was animals. They used the pelts or hides and fur, not for protecting you in battle, but more for protecting you from the obstacles of the wilderness. They used these items like a coat to keep your body warm from the cold weather. They also used them to provide protection while hunting or exploring. In addition, some studies have shown that the occurrence of wormian bones in the anterior fontanelle may have some genetic basis. Anther support for genetic factors is that wormian bones definitely have pathological and diagnostic implications. In this procedure, a holed sheet, inflexibly settle to a pass on with a clear holder, is plastically distorted chiefly by bending and circumferential extending with a punch. In hole flanging by single point incremental forming (SPIF), a level sheet with a pre cut hole is shaped by a solitary point rotating instrument that continuously delivers a smooth, round flanged lip. The forming device is driven by a CNC machine taking after continuously a pre built up direction. The material is currently predominantly distorted by a mix of circumferential and outspread extending and bending. There are numerous modern utilizations of this procedure, for example, fortifying the edge of the holes, enhancing its appearance or giving extra backing to joining sheet parts to tubes, among others. Single Point Incremental Forming (SPIF) is an as of late incredible sheet metal part creation procedure that is step by step developing towards modern applicability. In this procedure a sheet metal part is shaped in a stepwise manner by a CNC controlled spherical rotating tool without the requirement for a supporting (fractional) die. This system permits a moderately quick and shabby production of small series of sheet metal parts. In the SPIF procedure generic, freestyle shapes can be created utilizing a standard, circular, CNC controlled instrument. The procedure begins ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Social Injustice In 12 Angry Men 12 Angry Men In the year 1957, the classic movie, 12 Angry Men (1957), was originally released in the United States. This movie highlights the social injustice caused by racism throughout the country in the late 1950 s and into all of the 1960 s. As director Sidney Lumet s first movie, the plot follows Aristotle s rule for dramatic structure nearly to a tee. The director s usage of Aristotle s rule for dramatic structure creates an easily understood series of events that demonstrates what had happened during a first degree murder case being relayed through the jury s deliberation. Through the method used for revealing information, Lumet was able to successfully show the racism amongst many people in the middle of the twentieth century. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The members of the jury were no exception. At least half of the members of the jury discriminated against the defendant based off of the simple fact that these men believed him to be a criminal, partially based off of the boy s father s criminal record and the boy s own criminal record, but mostly stemming from the idea that he was a minority from the slums of New York City. The jurors all looked at his previous record, but took his entire testimony with a grain of salt. Rather than listen to what the boy had to say, the members of the jury focused on any of the other witnesses testimonies to put this young man behind bars until his execution date. These men were not a jury of his peers. Most of them came from at least the middle class. Most were born and raised in the United States and had nothing that people would see as something to treat any of them as lesser as people. Lastly, practically all of these men were at least twice this boy s age. The motif kept resurfacing on how this boy s life was hanging in what should have been a jury of his peers, rather it was hanging in the hands of twelve men that had very little to nothing in common with this ... Whether they are looked upon fondly or not, world leaders are still loved by many people. They can inspire good character, good morals, and responsibility. The best example of this is how people view the United States presidents. Some of the former presidents are considered heroes, and even depicted to be on the same level as gods. These people have been so highly praised, that saying anything bad about them is looked down upon. There are statues and monuments dedicated to presidents such aslike George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy, and so on. This illustrates the fact thatThe point is, former US presidents are held in high regard. One of these presidents held to this high standard was the US president throughout most of the 1980s. • 44. The Importance Of Physical Beauty In Cyrano De Bergerac In today s day and age, people are judged not on their inner beauty, but rather, their physical beauty. This desire to hold judgement against outer beauty slowly ruins self confidence. In Cyrano de Bergerac this judgement on outer beauty makes the characters feel insecure about their weaker qualities. This is demonstrated by Cyrano s belief that people think lowly of him because of his appearance. In contrast, Christian finds himself physically attractive but, with little eloquence and fears his handsome looks is all people see of him. And finally, Roxanne contributes to this issue by expressing her judgement on people based on their looks. Appearance does not portend everything, but in most cases, is the quality that is judged predominately. Cyrano is an astonishingly intelligent, and well spoken man, but has unappealing looks. His appearance affects his self confidence considering that he believes everyone looks at him as being an ugly individual. When Roxanne is explaining the man, she is in love with, Cyrano assumes she is explaining his characteristics, until she says his face shines with wit and intelligence, he s proud, noble, young, fearless, handsome... (Cyrano de Bergerac, Rostand, pg. 77). Cyrano hears that the man is handsome and loses all hope, because to himself he is not considered handsome. Having been judged about his physical features, his self confidence is poor. Although, he believes his outer beauty decides on how people envision him, he is a very intelligent individual and has marvelous inside qualities, which many people recognize and respect. If only he could realize that his outer beauty is not nearly important as his inner beauty, maybe then he could see how important his strongest qualities are. Being well dressed, groomed, and being physically appealing has its perks, as appearance is what a first impression would be based on if no conversation is involved. But outer beauty does not indicate a person s personality and intelligence. In regards to Christian, he is a very handsome character, but his word choice and poetic sensibility are very poor. He is always at a loss of words and believes he is a dim witted individual, especially when he tells Cyrano that ... I m one of those men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are limitations in our judgment processes and we can identify methods to mitigate bias and improve judgment (KPMG Judgment Framework). The four common tendencies that cause limitations in our judgment processes are, availability, confirmation, overconfidence, and anchoring. In this memo I will explain each of the four tendencies, talk about which tendency I believe to have manifested in the Hamilton case, clarify issues relating to auditing the warranty reserve and describe the alternatives that should be considered in auditing the warranty reserve, and finally provide factors that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Background on Hamilton Hamilton (the Company) was a subsidiary of Motor Company (MC). In 1999 the Company spun off from MC and incorporated. After the separation MC informed the Company that they owed $350 $800 million in warranty claims related to sales that occurred prior to the separation in 1999. Hamilton s management believed that any warranty claims related to sales prior to the separation should be limited to the reserve amount that was agreed upon separation. MC wanted the full payment for what they owed relating to warranty claims. MC remained Hamilton s largest client and because of that, Hamilton s management was motivated to find a solution that would appease MC. Management realized that in paying anything over $100 million to MC would cause a significant reduction in operating income. For this reason, management had significant incentives to mask the true level of warranty expense in order to meet analysts forecasts. Management made the decision to report favorable results, no matter what. The tendencies or bias manifested in Hamilton Corporation Hamilton s auditor employed multiple tendencies. Confirmation was used in the scheme to support management when they obtained a letter from the Company s actuary that provided the reasonable range for pension assumptions that had been made in the past. • 48. How Milk Are A Dairy Product That Is Formed By Coagulation Milk curds are a dairy product that is formed by coagulation, also known as clotting. Curds can be formed when rennet or any acidic liquid is added to milk. Lemon juice and vinegar are two common acidic liquids that provide benefits when creating the formation of milk curds. Increased acids, such as vinegar or lemon juice, force proteins contained in milk to group together and create solid masses, which are identified as curds. Any remaining liquid after this process is wheyprotein. Cheesecurds contain proteins and fat from milk. They are produced by a formation called coagulation of casein. Casein is unique in the way that it is not coagulated by heat. Milk becomes sour when lactic acid bacteria streptococci and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The casein molecules can be bothered and separated from the whey by an addition of acid, which disturbs the casein micelle structure. Emma Christensen, a graduate of the Cambridge School for Culinary Arts said, When milk becomes too acidic, like when we add lemon juice or when it goes sour, the negative charge on the casein groupings becomes neutralized. Now instead of pushing each other apart, the casein starts to clump together. Changed combinations of the controlled amount of acid added to milk and enzymatic hydrolysis of casein are the foundations of different types of cheese made in industries. Enzymatic hydrolysis is the process where enzymes ease the bonding in molecules with the addition of the elements found in water. This process assists in digestion and the formation of cheese. Lemon juice is an enzyme that is used to speed up the process of coagulation. Addition of acid to milk assists the separation of curds from whey and controls the growth of undesirable bacteria in cheese. An example of adding lemon juice to heated milk and causing the milk to form curds is Paneer cheese. Milk contains 86% water, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, minerals and vitamins. Casein and whey, the main proteins, account for approximately 3.5% of components found in cow s milk. The controlled process of removing water from cow s milk is known as cheese making.
