Messiah Of The Masses Summary
This paper is a review of the book Messiah of the Masses: Huey P. Long and the Great
Depression. The book was about the life history of Huey P. Long during the great depression
era. The author of this book was Glen Jeansonne and it was edited by Oscar Handlin. In 1993 this
book was published by Addison Wesley Educational Publishers Inc. There are many pros and
some cons in this book but overall it was a very interesting book. The author s goal was to
educate everyone about the misunderstood Huey P. Long. I agree that Jeansonne did accomplish
his goal of doing that while keeping a steady and fine flow throughout the book. It is also a good
narration on human nature during the time of the great depression. The only cons I have about
the book was that it was very hard to comprehend at points. I assume it was because I need to
extend my vocabulary. Also, I did not like how the book criticized Huey P. Long a lot. Even
though he was somewhat a bad person I believe the author could have put more accomplishments....

Long is how he believed that was a master politician. I agree with this very much because of the
way Jeansonne wrote about his campaigning strategy. He basically had citizens of Louisiana
wrapped around his fingers by telling them what they wanted to hear. In chapter 7 it said that a
national correspondent wrote, They do not merely vote for him, they worship the ground he
walks on... (p.142) Also in chapter 3, Jeansonne supported his argument when he talked about
how Huey limited his points in a speech to only five points. Afterwards he stated that an assistant
of Huey said, Smith compared this tactic to promising a child a red bicycle for Christmas. (p.44)
This view closely aligns with my reasoning for my position of agreeing because he would talk
about doing things and no one would question how they got

The Editing Of Little Miss Sunshine
The editing of Little Miss Sunshine is presented very smoothly. The montage introduces us to the
six main characters and shows us a glimpse into each one s life. This is effective in
communicating to the audience by allowing them to feel a part of each characters life and quickly
provide a backstory of each character. The filmalso presents some creative juxtapositions in the
editing. The opening credits of the film is when the montage begins. We start by seeing Olive
(Abigail Breslin) watching a beauty pageant, the scene then cuts to show her father Richard (Greg
Kinnear) presenting his nine steps. Next is her brother Dwayne (Paul Dano), then her grandpa
Edwin (Alan Arkin) doing cocaine and her mother Sheryl (Toni Collette) smoking a cigarette.

Opportunistic Disease Essay
Introduction
An opportunistic infection is an infection that normal immune systems can usually fight off but
weakened immune systems cannot. The germs take this opportunity to enter the body and cause an
infection. The immune system is the body s natural disease fighting system.
What causes opportunistic infections?
Many types of bacteria, viruses, and fungi can cause opportunistic infections. The types of
infections that you are at risk for are related to the reason your immune system is weak. For
example, the opportunistic infections most likely to affect a person with HIV (human
immunodeficiency virus) or AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) are different from those
most likely to affect a person who has recently had an organ transplant ... Show more content on

Was World War 1 Inevitable
With over thirty eight million casualties and over seventeen million recorded deaths, the First
World War was one of the deadliest conflicts that the worldwide population has ever seen. World
War I has been particularly exclusive in history in comparison to previous battles, by reason of the
first major involvement of the world s major powers in warfare in addition to the war s foundation
of causes that eventually led to the unavoidable commencement of bloodshed. The First World War
was inevitable for many reasons that traced back to the beginning of the twentieth century, such as
the formulation of European alliances, the inauguration of the armaments race and martial strength
in European nations, and the rise of the encouragement of nationalism... Show more content on

These nationalistic feelings allowed European citizens to grow extreme morale in their nation, in
addition their country s individual strength in military and government. With the birth of these
sentiments, however; neighbouring countries that made up the continent were denounced and
portrayed to the public as untrustworthy, uncivilized, and threatening in regards to their country.
Due to this, many rivalries and tensions between borders occurred, with the inclusion of the public
in addition to their powerful leaders. Nationalistic pride was launched in European countries for
multiple different reasons, depending on the state of the country at the time. For example, Great
Britain s views regarding nationalism was apparent in relation to the country s past of maintaining
strength and prosperity through peaceful relations, while nationalism was clear in Germany as a
symbol of future imperialism and overwhelming continental strength. Either way, strong feelings of
nationalism allowed Europe s borders to become even more divided than usual, as a result of
providing an outlet for national superiority and the encouraging antagonization of surroundings
nations. In short, nationalism allowed the First World War to become even more unavoidable,
since tensions rose to the brink of both fear and confidence of the major powers: a perfect setup

Through The Tunnel Comparison
In both Sixteen and Through the Tunnel some parts of the stories go almost hand in hand, while
other aspects of the stories are complete opposites. The tones of Sixteen are both anxiousness and
then disappointment; in Through the Tunnel is both childish and then realization. At the beginning
of both stories the main characters start off as if they know everything they need to to get through
life and be able to make it. In the beginning of Sixteen the author says, I mean, I want you to
understand from the beginning that I m not really so dumb. I know what a girl should do and what
she shouldn t (P1), which means that she wants to get it out of the way that she knows what is and

Student s Performance Gap Between Students And Students
Introduction Academic institutions are always trying to improve the grades of their students.
They are researching if a smaller classroom setting will improve the grades of their students
overall. This is important because these institutions want their students to graduate in the typical
four years. In another study, a small classroom setting is important during adolescence because a
child develops social behaviors which later affect his or her level of learning (Cappella, 2012).
Another researcher presented how students who were struggling in school benefitted from a
smaller classroom and this closed the achievement gap between students (Bosworth, 2014). Also,
one study reported that class size had no effect when it came to a student s performance when
they were in middle school, but there is an effect when the students are in elementary school
(Vaag, 2013). Students in a smaller class will have a higher grade compared to a students in a
larger class. Method Participants Participants were nationally sampled from nine introductory
psychology courses including each grade level, freshman through seniors. While both male and
female students are included in the sample the female population is 68% of the sample size which
is made up of 488 students from smaller classes and 879 students from larger classes across the
country. The students participating in the study were required to take the course for credit;
however they had to give their consent to allow their data to be used

Omne Trium
Omne Trium Perfectum Let your mind escape the box. Although a two dimensional box has four
sides and four vertices, greatness comes in triumvirates. Triangles are the strongest shape. They
have three sides and three vertices. The title of this essay has three words in it, meaning everything
that comes in threes is perfect, or, every set of three is complete. Computers and technology,
comfort, and mathematics all require me to think outside of the box. I enjoy comprehending on the
exterior of the square because the task stretches my thought process. Not everything has a direct
formula or set of instructions, and that is why I relish in this concept. Technology does not have a

I am great at math. As of today, I have an overall grade of 96.0. To me, math is more of a hobby
than a part of school that I must complete to graduate. I apply math to things that are generally
not associated with numbers. I prefer quantitative instead of qualitative. I do math in my free
time. Math is fun. Math is great. Math is oddly satisfactory. Occasionally, when the channel
releases a video that I think I would be interested in, I watch videos by Numberphile on YouTube.
One of my favorite videos by that channel is the video titled ASTOUNDING: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 +

think outside of the box in order to comprehend the concept. When I was in second, third, fourth,
and fifth grade, I was placed in a program at my elementary school called Venture. During the last
three years of it, the teacher introduced the students to something called Hands On Equations. (H
OE) They begin to teach a student multi step equations. Third grade was learning about the
program. Fourth grade was solving problems. Fifth grade was for making connections between H
OE and actual equations. The variable, x, is a blue pawn and the opposite of the variable is a
white pawn, named star, and is shown as either x or *. By moving these pawns and blocks with
numbers to one side of the balance (the equal sign) or the other, the student could solve the
equation. Since there were few people in the Venture program, the teacher could have one on one
instruction with the student. By making connections with H OE and y= equations, I thought

Analysis Of The Book Snowman
I am not my childhood, Snowman says out loud.
Okay... Well, who is he? Snowman (or Jimmy, as I will refer to him) is a perplexing character
from Atwood s first introduction. He is living as the only human man among a colony of
Crakers over whom he appears to be some kind of godly leader. As he wallows in his past we
discover him to be almost tragic; a cruel and manipulative lover, void of any real emotionally
intimate relationships, who now spends all of his time thinking, reflecting and obsessing over his
past. For a man who is not his childhood we sure hear a lot about it! Which tells us that his past is
critical in understanding who he is as a character.
Jimmy never achieves the closeness he craves with his mother; he spends most ... Show more

A mother who is predominantly absent, either physically or emotionally often leaves the child with
difficulties understanding and experiencing intimacy. Both of these are models of insecure
attachment.
Let s look at Jimmy and his relationship with his mother.
Jimmy remembers his mother as predominantly distant and cold. This is depicted in Jimmy s
memory of his mother s response when asked why she had resigned from her job: because I
wanted to stay home with you, she said, looking over the top of Jimmy s head and puffing on her
cigarette. As readers, we are invited to assume that she suffers from some kind of episodic
depression though this cannot be understood by Jimmy as a child. He recalls her forgetting his
birthday, and when reminded, buying him gifts that showed she either knew or cared very little
about her son.
According to attachment theory jimmy s memories of his maternal parenting may be either
idealised or devalued. In snowman s reflections, he makes no excuses for the unstable home his
mother creates. He reflects upon her unaffectionately and bluntly and recants his only warm
maternal memories of a hired nanny who was as affectionate and generous as his mother was cold
and unpredictable. When his mother leaves work to care for him Jimmy is told the nanny must
leave because; nobody needed two mummies did they? oh yes, they did, thinks snowman. Oh yes,
they really did.
Of course, Jimmy s mother ultimately leaves him and

Blind Side
The movie that I had selected to watch is called Blind Side . This movie is based off a real story
about a boy named Michael Oher who was a black youth living in homelessness and grew up
without his mother. He experienced many traumatizing events of separation but ended up going to
Wingate Christian School where he met Leigh Anne Tuohy. Through series of events, Michael was
eventually adopted into Leigh s familyand was accepted as her son. She encouraged and supported
Michael to excel in school and sports. Ultimately, Michael was able to receive many scholarships
from different Universities who saw Michael s excellent skills in football.
While watching this movie, I had identified several factors of how personality can be applied to
sport ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the movie, Michael was tested of his personality. Though he score extremely
low in all aspects and areas of the test, he scored over 95% in protective instinct. When Michael
started to play football, he had a rough start. He was uncertain of the concept and strategies. He
did not understand how to block opponents and was yelled by the coach many times. However,
the yelling did not help him improve. Instead, he became more confused. This was not Michaels
learning behaviour so whenever he was coached in this specific way, he was not able to absorb
anything that the coach had mentioned to help him improve. That was until Leigh stepped in.
When Leigh observed how Michael was doing, she saw the flaw of how Michael was being
coached. She took action and considered Michael s personality in account to how he performs. As
mentioned above, in the beginning the school board had taken his personality test and scored
98% in protective instinct. Leigh used this opportunity to connect both Michael s personality and
sports to teach him how to block. She related the football players to the family that he cares for.
When Leigh and Michael first interacted, he brought her to the area he was born in. That area is
known for violence and surrounded by those who live in poverty. While walking with Leigh
around that neighbourhood, Michael promised to protect her if anything were to happen.
Additionally, while S.J and Michael were in a car accident, Michael protected S.J by stopping the
airbag from making contact with him. Leigh used these situations to exemplify that the team is
Michael s family and it is his job to protect them from their opponents. She then illustrated that the
quarterback is who he needed to protect as if the quarterback was Leigh herself. She continued by
displaying that when Michael sees his

Jane Jacobs Individualism In Education
When education is replaced with credentialing, Jane Jacobs is correct in believing that something is
lost. To understand what is lost, philosophers should examine the relationship, especially the
differences, between credentialing and education and the role authenticity, as defined by Charles
Taylor, plays in both. While the focus on credentialing remains, educationand authenticity will be
incompatible with each other. The act of going to post secondary educational institutions can be
seen as an act of conformation because that is what most people do to get a job, which goes
against the moral ideal of self fulfillment. Furthermore, a loss of personal relationships in an
attempt to further one s career does not allow an individual to discover... Show more content on

Education and authenticity are both noble concepts, but they are incompatible with each other.
Credentialing promotes the individualism that is the antithesis of authenticity. However, a post
secondary education, just like authenticity, becomes a standard of what individuals ought to
desire, defined by Charles Taylor as a moral ideal (16). (Jane Jacobs, pg 44) According to Jane
Jacobs, education is effective to better oneself and one s chances in the world. (Charles Taylor, pg
17) Nonetheless, the pursuit of authenticity or education can result in an individual sacrificing love
relationships and care of their children to pursue their careers. For example, an individual may not
focus on developing relationships as they try to gain as many degrees as possible to make
themselves more desirable in the job market. Authenticity and education are also similar in the role
recognition plays. To be authentic, an individual s authentic self needs to be recognized by others

Amusing Ourselves To Death Analysis
I disagree with the fears and beliefs that are encapsulated within the excerpts taken from the
book Amusing Ourselves To Death by Neil Postman. Postman summarizes two different
viewpoints, one of Aldous Huxley and one of George Orwell. Orwell s fears focus mainly on
oppression by a ruling government body, where people have no choice in which the way they
live. This is a common fear for our society because it has been around for as long as our
civilization has been around. An example would be that the country of the United States was
formed because of the fear that the Britain would become too oppressive when ruling it. Huxley
focuses on a different fear, one that is much more interesting. He feared that what we love will ruin
us . Rather... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been a great aid in the way people have come to think. Huxley fears that people will become
too dependent on technology. People have always been dependent on technology. Our dependence
on technology gives us the thirst to improve it. Improving upon technology affects our society in
many great ways. Rather than taking months to go from one country to the next via sea routes,
airplane technology can get someone across the ocean in hours. To communicate people use to
have to send letters to one another, having messages take days and even weeks to be delivered and
read. The advancements in telecommunications has made it so much faster and easier to
communicate to anyone in the world instantly with the use of cell phones. To find a piece of
information people use to have to dig around countless of reference books. With advancements like
the internet and smartphones, people can learn or discover just about anything at an instant.
Advancements in medical technology have dramatically improved life expectancy in people.
Vaccines prevent many diseases, an example being polio. Heart disease, one of the top reasons for
death in many countries, has been made more manageable thanks to advancements in heart surgery.
People know more than they have ever had before thanks to improvements in technology. Being
dependent on technology is not bad. It makes us more productive and quick learners than we ever
have before. Getting information is much more easier and faster, allowing people to focus on
learning new things sooner. Ultimately, advancements in technology make a society much more
productive and powerful. A dependency on technology is needed to make sure such advancements

Stereotypes In Forrest Gump
White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White
privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they
are white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when
white people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones
because white peoplehave more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people
fail to see it in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well.
Stereotypes can be defined as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not
all stereotypes are bad, but many of them are. An example could be saying that all African
Americans are good at sports. However, this is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes
seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are
two different concepts, but they both have similar effects that tend to hurt people of color more
than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which
was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege by showing only white people
in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by having a stereotypical black
family, and changes black history by having a white person make achievements that people of color
really made.
Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with
Forrest Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down
next to him. He begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to
the fact that he is not the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads
him to a flashback of his childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to
talk about everything that has happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. He talks
about meeting Jenny on his first day of school, his running getting him a football scholarship for
college, enlisting in the army and meeting Bubba, getting a medal of honor, and playing ping pong
against China.

The Theme And Themes Of Skellig By Hans David Almond
I read a book called Skellig over the summer vacation. Skellig is written by David Almond, which

highest international recognition given to an author and an illustrator of children s books.
David Almond grew up in a Catholic family in Felling on Tyne with four sisters and one brother.
He loved writing since he was a child and dreamed of publishing his own book. In his interview, he

he and his sisters and brothers were all young. His mother was always serious with arthritis. He

From the reviews on Amazon, I found out that people who only gave 1 star tend to say the story
was so boring. They felt confusion when reading Skellig because the story was moving on slowly.
The really interesting part did not start until about 40% of the way in. Also, the story has too
many themes and ideas mixed together, such as the ill baby, the neighbor girl that is home
schooled, and the human like creature in the garage. By having too many themes and ideas, it
makes too many mysterious parts, so that it is hard to understand what is going on. Plus, there
are not so many action, so for people that likes to read a action books, might dislike Skellig. On
the other hand, the people who gave 5 stars on the Amazon reviews said that there are a lot of
mysterious parts in the story, and that allows your imagination to expand and makes you want to
guess what is going to happen next. They say that the novel is great for adults too, even it is a
children s book. Therefore, it will be good for reading aloud with your family. The chapters are
short, so it is easy for children and intermediate readers too. I found it easy to read Skellig, rather
than reading novels with really long Chapters. The story has characters with unusual
characteristics for children s books, so you can enjoy a different taste. One review said that if you
have some big or small questions about life, this book might help you find the answer. As a result,
I enjoyed reading this novel, and I will recommend you to read

Essay on Navajo Code Talkers in WW2
Navajo Code Talkers: Unknown Heroes
Seldom has it ever occurred that heroes to our country, let alone in general, have had to wait
decades for proper acknowledgement for their heroic deeds. This is not the case for the Navajo
Code Talkers. These brave souls had to wait a total of six decades to be acknowledged for their
contributions to the United States and the Allied Forces of WWII. The code talkers were an
influential piece to the success of the United States forces in the Pacific. Thus had it not been for
the Native Americans that volunteered to be code talkers, there might not have been such a drastic
turn around in the fighting of the Pacific Theatre. Prior to the use of the Navajo language as code

The key to this code was that it was entirely oral, nothing was ever written down. Thus the entire
code had to be memorized which would not prove to be too difficult since it was Native Navajos
speaking their own language. Some translations were rather simple bombs for example
reminded the code talkers of eggs so they used their word for eggs chosea ye shi. The native
word for frog; chal was used as code for an amphibious assault. A bomber plane now was jeeshoo
(buzzard), a submarine beeshloo (iron fish), and a battleship was lootsoh (whale). Britain
became Tota (between the waters), India Ee (white clothes), and Germany Beeshbich aahi (iron
hat). Each letter of the alphabet underwent a similar transformation. In the code wolachii (ant)
stood for В‘a , shash (bear) for В‘b and mosi (cat) for В‘c (DinГ©). On a more comedic note
Descriptive Navajo names for enemies and enemy leaders were coined. Adolf Hitler was

the very language white Americans and settlers and missionaries have been urging and forcing
the Navajos to stop using since their arrival would be need by the whites in order to be
successful. Perhaps more ironic was that it was the son of a protestant missionary that came up
with a proposal for the idea. This man was named Philip Johnston. He had grown up on a Navajo

Every couple of months, I go to Trader Joe s. I enjoy their organic products and the prices as

city of Augusta. Chain stores have turned Augusta into an exciting place by bringing many
products to consumers, making visitors feel at home, and helping the economy. First of all, Chain

chain stores, helps tourists enjoy their favorite product or food. Thirdly, chain stores help the
economy. The author says that, Chains let people in a city of 250,000 enjoy retail amenities once

When Costco opened in Augusta in 2011, the community was excited. Selling discounted item like

reported that by having a Costco in the area, people are traveling from Columbia, SC and other
places that are much smaller than Augusta. The Augusta Chronicle also reported that a Costco
employee earns twelve dollars an hour. This is great with minimum wage being seven dollars and
twenty five cents an hour. Chain stores usually are very popular and keep customers coming back.
The more people that shop, the more employees need to be hired. Jobs are created when these big
retail stores open. Discounts are given to employees which can benefit both parties. In conclusion,

Pros And Cons Of Pornography
In class we discussed pornography and how it can either be seen as moral or immoral. In the book
Exploring Ethics by Steven M. Cahn, Helen E. Longino wrote chapter thirty eight titled
Pornography, Oppression, and Freedom. Longino believes that pornography is immoral and that it
causes more harm than good in society. She believes that pornographysingles out womanand is
defamatory, violent, and should be regulated. My argument is against Longino, if porn is restricted
several movies would be deemed immoral because of nudity. The connection between violence
against women and pornography would not change or even increase if restrictions apply. No
one should be forced into pornography, but the option should be available without regulation.
Pornography can be considered verbal or pictorial. For pictorial pornography the person can
watch in on their laptop, cellphone, or even television. For verbal pornography they can read it
in a book, on a website, call a hotline or even listen to a podcast. There is homosexual,
heterosexual, transgendered porn and much more available on the web. There are major
companies that produce videos as well as homemade videos for personal or public use. Longino
believes that pornography is, implicated in the committing of crimes of violence against women .

on people. Personally, I would never watch or get any satisfaction from porn and the violence

p. 534), since they act as an emotional landscape (Woodthorpe, 2011, p. 264). Woodthorpe claims
that this emotional landscape of the dead must also compete against the commercial and communal
implications of a place of interment. In the case of CLCC s Open Day, conflict ensued between the
visitors attending the site for education and recreation and those of the bereaved consumer who had
purchased aspects of the cemetery service (2011, p. 268). This clash between the sustainability of
the interment grounds themselves and the delicate nature of these sites raises questions of how to
generate income and promote a cemetery, while also ensuring it is amenable to the bereaved visitor
advocating on behalf of the

Utopia Vision Statement
When I first began college, I knew that I wanted to major in civil engineering; However,
knowing that my major would take up all of my units after finishing the general education
classes, I knew that I could not afford to take any extra classes, to explore and expand my own
curiosity and knowledge of what is available. Instead, I decided to invest my academic career
focusing on engineering. As freshman students began college, many students asked themselves
that oh so common and over beaten life question what is the point of college?, while others
wondered if it was it a place to explore and discover more about one s self. Well now, thanks to
Kwame Anthony Appiah, who teaches philosophy at N.Y.U. and wrote an article What Is the
Point of College?, he explains two visions which are Utility U. and Utopia U. as well as the
habits students possess at the start of college. As students first enter the college world they go
through what is known as, Utility and/or Utopia vision; However, one vision would be stronger
than the other. A Utility vision is when you want to know if you are getting a profitable return in
an investment, while the same students are also act out the role of a consumer. Utility U. possess
certain requirements that need to be filled and will pay for expenses in exchange for quick
responses such as the desire, to be taught. Plus the fact that, Utility U. is concerned with value,
echoing the idea in the section in, Utilitarians value proposition (appiah

Third Party Logistic Services
2.1.2 Description of third party logistic services providers
According to various studies, Berglund et al. (1999) explain that third party logistics has several
definitions that are an activities consisting of transportation and management, and warehousing on
behalf of the shipper are carried out. Wilding and Juriado (2004) define that a company who solely
operates for the provision of logistics related single or multiple services on a contractual basis, is
called Third Party Logistics Company. Especially, the true third party logistics companies
provide a solution to the problem in the supply chain by incorporating multiple logistics services
that are managed solely or together (Schary and Larsen, 1995). Coltman, Gattorna and Whiting
(2010) suggest that third party logistics companies must create a large range of services to meet
their distinct needs. A definition by Lieb et al. (1993) explain that 3PL providers can assist the
whole processes of supply chain or just only selected activities depending on a company s
preference. It is also conclude the definition of outsourced logistics services that the employ of
external firms to provide logistics services for the whole or selected logistics activities within the
process that have traditionally been performed within an organization is the outsourced logistics.
The roles performed by the 3PL providers can be making especially to customers requirements (The
Client Company) derived from market demands and conditions.

Persuasive Essay On How To Discipline A Child
As Plato once proclaimed, Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it
by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar
bent of the genius of each depicting that being harsh when disciplining a child is not necessary.
There are a variety of strategies to follow when punishing a child such as time out, the removal of a
prized possession, grounding the youngster, or spanking which depend on their matureness.
Although, every guardian has a different view toward how lenient each action should be, all parents
disciplinetheir children in aspiration to retain authority over them and teach them beneficial
characteristics.
Furthermore, divergent factors influence parents beliefs on which action to perform when instilling
a helpful lecture on their offspring. Many parents are controversial on the fact of how to take
disciplined actions upon their kids since environmental perspectives alter their views; as a matter of
fact, guardians shape the discipline by state regulations for child welfare, the influence of relatives,
and family dynamics in hopes of keeping authority over their children. A determining factor by
which parents prioritize on to decide how to discipline their child is through established state
regulations. Although corporal punishment is banned in approximately 49 countries, it is legal in
the United States. Disciplining a minor is permissible in all 50 states with the idea that it is

Darfur Conflict Essay
March 23rd, 2013 The Darfur Conflict The government of Sudan, a country in Northeast Africa, is
committing a horrendous crime against humanity. Genocide is raging on in Western Sudan
against poor, helpless, innocent people. It is actually the ten year anniversary since the beginning
of the Darfur conflict and the genocide still continues on. There are over 1.4 million people who
still do not have homes to come back to, and the numbers stack higher every day. Bombings have
not stopped, as there was one as recent as February 2013. The Darfur conflict in the beginning was
just a brewing disaster and it eventually led to the horrendous genocides in the early 2000s due to
early settlement disputes, climate change, and radical Islamic... Show more content on

From 1972 onwards, the government usually ran Darfur through officials brought in from other
parts of Sudan, mainly from Khartoum (Darfur: Origins). What Britain did basically doomed
Non Arab Darfur to a future as an underdeveloped colony of Sudan s Arab speaking Nile Valley
heartland (Darfur: Origins). Furthermore, another source of the problem began with the gradual
change of the climate in Darfur. Desertification, a process by which land becomes increasingly
dry until almost no vegetation grows on it, becomes a major problem for the Darfur people.
Land for farming becomes scarce. Living on desert is unsuitable for humans for obvious
reasons: lack of food and, more importantly, lack of water. There is not much suitable farm land,
therefore the lack of fertile land caused the populations to compete with one another for land on
which they could survive (Xavier 18). Before desertification became a huge problem for the
Sudanese people, they lived in peace. Honestly, the hostility between Darfur s Arabs and
Africans are relatively new (Xavier 20). This shows how the competition for survival helped fuel
the terrible genocide in Darfur. In addition, political aspects have played a role in the roots of the
Darfur conflict. The leader, General Omar Hassan Ahmad al Bashir (who came to power in 1989),
is a major source of the problem. Al

The Death Of Homicide Through Executions
Everyone in the world has two things in common. These two things are that everyone starts their
life by being born and also everyone ends their life by dying. Now in the way people are born
and how they die can vary, but the fact of the matter is they were born and they will die. There
are really only two ways people are born which are vaginal or cesarean births. This differs from
death because there are more than a million ways to die, including snake bites, car crash,
parachute failure when skydiving, or even ironically when there is a complication when giving
birth. The different ways people die can be categorized into four groups, natural causes which
happen when people s bodies give out; homicide, which is when someone else... Show more content

The blood eagle was when a person, who killed a father, would have their spinal exposed and
then their ribs would be cracked and set through their backs. Afterward, their lungs would be
pulled out and placed on their ribs (Aden, Josh). Though the blood eagle was used because of
religious beliefs, not all executions were for that reason. On the other hand some people, during
the dark ages were killed because of the plague, they had or people thought they had to make sure
they could not pass it on to the next person they came into contact with. Although people were
executed for religious and sanitary purposes, one of the biggest reasons for people to be executed
was to make a statement. For instance in ancient Rome, they used beasts in the coliseums to kill
people they called it damnatio ad bestias. Most of the time these people were prisoners of war to
make sure people knew what ultimately happens to the enemies of Rome. Later in medieval
England to make statements about traitors they used and execution method know as hanged, drawn,

wood panel and taken to the gallows. They then were hung close to death, and then immediately cut
into four pieces in front of everybody (Aden, Josh). Similarly to this day drug cartels make threats
to other drug cartels by using the execution method called the Columbian

Agile Methodologies And Rapid Application Development Essay
Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development: A Comparison
Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development look to improve the SDLC by using a
framework and requirements to complete projects. The paths that both AM and RAD take to get to
the finish line can differ immensely, which can ultimately lead to varying results.
Agile Methodologies
Matharu, Mishra, Singh, Upadhyay (2015, p. 1) state that, agile methods are characterized by
shorter development cycles, higher customer interaction, incremental delivery, frequent redesign
with accommodation of changes necessitated by dynamic user requirements. The Agarwal et al.
text explores three of the most popular agile methods, Scrum, Extreme Programming (EP), and
Kanban. All of these agile methods follow The Agile Manifesto (Beck, et al., 2001).
Scrum. Scrum manages the full SDLC in short iterations called sprints. Each sprint is a smaller,
full, SDLC. There are three very important roles within a scrum process, the scrum master,
development team, and product owner. Collaboration is at the center of this methodology. Scrum
attempts to utilize unique skills within the team to their maximum ability. Daily meetings are
called to review the status of the project and assign resources where they are needed. A product
and sprint backlog are maintained to provide insight on tasks, steps, and requirements to complete
and meet for the ongoing project. Through a series of sprints, the backlogs are completed in an

Applications of Piaget and Vygostsky s cognitive developmental theories in a practical classroom
environment Piaget and Vygotsky have antonymous beliefs when dealing with the concepts of
cognitive development. Vygotsky believes in development through social behaviour whilst Piaget
believes in individuals acquiring knowledge on their own. Both however, believe that the
interaction between development and learning hold significant implications for a child s growth.

Woolfolk amp; Markets (2007) discuss the use of certain cultural tools playing an important role
in cognitive development; these tools can be anything from the Internet to language or numbers.
Ann displays techniques through collaborative group work that run true to these theories. Piaget
also suggested an individual would not come to organise his/her operations in a coherent whole
if they did not engage in thought exchanges and cooperation with others (Piaget, 1947, p. 174).
Ann is breaking students up into different groups to perform different activities; this is portrayed
through one group collecting rainfall data and another group taking notes on the impact the rain
has on ants living in the area. Ann s socially constructive pedagogical approach to her lessons
through the use of cooperative learning will exemplify Vygotsky s theories of peer peer
scaffolding as well as the zone of proximal development. Vygotsky s theory The zone of proximal
development is also being demonstrated through Ann s teaching methods for her year five class.
The zone of proximal development refers to a conceivable range of learning evolution in regards to
the students age and the amount of assisted knowledge they are given. This information can be
given through direct information, scaffolding or cooperative learning. Ann (as the more
knowledgeable) would be required to offer a certain level of information to the children before

Archetypes in Siddhartha
In analyzing the novel Siddhartha, we find that Herman Hesse has incorporated many literary
techniques to relay his message to the reader. By using various writing approaches to convey the
theme of the novel, Hesse appeals to the readers senses and aides them in grasping the novel.
Included in these techniques are symbolism, metaphor, allusion, and archetypes. He compares
many issues that Siddhartha faces to everyday objects and forces, making the noveleasier to
understand. Three of the main archetypes
Hesse uses to get his point across are trees, rivers, and sleep. One of the more obvious symbols
used in the novel is a tree. Cross culturally, it is extremely common for trees to represent wisdom.
In Hebrew literature, when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In several instances is the novel, Siddhartha falls asleep (the reader should also note that this
usually occurs under a tree) and wakes up anewed with a new outlook on life.
Then he had fallen asleep, and on awakening he looked at the world like a new man.... Never had
a sleep so refreshed him, so renewed him, so rejuvenated him! (76)
Just as in the traditional English story A Christmas Carol, where Scrooge goes to bed and wakes
up a new man after a series of nightmares, many authors have used the metaphor of sleep to show
emotional growth in their characters. Another case in point is Kate Chopin s book on a woman s
self discovery appropriately titled The Awakening.
Just like these authors, Hesse proves to be no stranger to this choice of symbolism. He illustrates
quite effectively and allows the reader to notice and reflect on Siddhartha s personal development
on more than one level. It is easy to see that many cross cultural themes were brought into
Siddhartha.
Through writing on more than one level, Hesse has created a literary masterpiece that is extremely
deep and meaningful. The application of the symbols he chose makes some of the themes in the
novel easier to see and decipher. Using the archetypes that he did makes the novel one that many
civilizations will read and understand for generations to come. Works Cited

The Origin Of The Greaser Subculture In America
The term subculture is defined in the dictionary as a culture within a broader mainstream culture,
with its own separate values, practices, and beliefs. Studying subculture in the perspective of a
sociologist, is to understand and comprehend a specific culture. In today s modern society of
America, there are many variety of subcultures that a sociologist can examine from the past or in
today s society. For this paper, the chosen subcultureto be investigated is the greasersubculture.
Greasers are defined as a working class youth subculture that originated in the 1950samong
teenagers in northeastern and southern United States. The paper will discuss the specifics on
the origin of the greaser subculture in America along with other factors that came along with it
in history. The origin of the term greaser was originally a derogatory name taken from the
Greaser Act of 1855. The Act was passed in California meant to deride workers or laborers of
Mexican background in the middle of the 19th century. It was also applied to Mexican with
disdain due to their jobs at greasing wagon carts. The name for a greaser in the fifties was given
due to the unique hairstyle applied with hair wax and slicked back. How the subculture of
greasers came to be in America was that in the late 1940 s after the end of World War, the male
soldiers were either being discharged or sent back home. Most them were suffering from what was
known as shell shock or battle fatigue from the battlefields.

used many literary concepts in his work, Young Goodman Brown. The concepts he demonstrates

many possible meanings and outlooks on the techniques he uses in this story. In Young Goodman
Brown, Hawthorne used the time of day as an allegorythroughout the course of the text to
symbolize how Goodman Brown progressively gave into the Devil s temptation. The use of the

allegory, Hawthorne also uses Young Goodman Brown s wife, Faith, as a symbol to represent his
spirituality throughout his journey through the forest. The author uses this literary concept because
he wants to show how devoted Brown was to his faith, by comparing it to the relationship between

Poverty And Poverty Quotes
Almost half of the entire world is so greatly impoverished that they live on less than $2.50 per
day, and at least eighty percent live on less than ten dollars each day. With this much of the human
population affected by such a terrible issue they must have a very strong will power to survive.
The issue of povertyrequires people to endure certain circumstances which could be similar to the
ones shown in Angela s Ashesby Frank McCourtor The Street by Ann Petry. McCourt
demonstrates a mindset of survival by depicting a little boy stealing to provide for his starving
family. Petry uses a single black mother in search of a new home while also facing a violent wind
storm. The passages from Angela s Ashes by Frank McCourt and The Street by Ann Petry use
characters, events, and settings to help prove the theme that when people are affected by poverty,
they keep moving forward with the help of perseverance.
While writing Angela s Ashes, Frank McCourt used characters, events, and setting to portray the
theme that people who struggle with poverty require perseverance. First, McCourt uses the main
character, Frank, to help support his theme. The narrator of the story explains that he has to do a
lot to provide for his family when Frank thinks, I can t spend my whole life running around lifting
lemonade from pubs (McCourt 10). This is significant because it shows that Frank and his family
struggle with poverty which prevents them from being able to go out and buy food

Essay About Fishing
Ever since I was a young kid my father has been taking me fishing. He has successfully

What Was The Role Of Magazines In The 1800 s
Magazines emerged as a medium for exchanging information shortly after newspapers became
popular, though they had different appeals. Magazines varied in content, ranging from information

with advertisements boosting consumerism. The main purpose of a magazinewas to entertain and to
amuse, and do it quickly. The 1800 s started with the popularity of the literary review, featuring
works by popular authors, including well known transcendentalists like Ralph Waldo Emerson

This means that JC Penney turns over their inventory 2.5 times during year. TJX turns over their

Stephen A. Ross, the Beta indicates the amount of systematic risk present in a particular risky

Comparison Of Patriarchy In Linda Loman And The House Of...
Often, the patriarchy is viewed as something enforced by men in order to retain their own power
and sense of supremacy. However, many social scientists acknowledge the female elders in
communities serve frequently as some of the most stringent enforcers of the patriarchy. In The
House of Bernarda Alba and Death of a Salesman, the playwrights explore how their female
characters use genderstereotypes to hold onto power or achieve stability. In both plays, Bernarda
Alba and Linda Loman utilize patriarchal notions of gender performativity and roles tactically in
order to achieve their objectives. Yet, at the same time, in both of these plays, moments of
challenge to the traditional structures do occur. In House of Bernarda Alba, Lorca utilizes Adela s
challenges to patriarchal ideas to create the central conflict, whereas, in Death of Salesman, Linda...

When Willy describes a fantasy about getting a little place in the country (Miller 958) where
they ll raise chickens and Linda affirms to Willy that he ll do it yet (Miller 958). The audience,
however, knows that Linda is aware that Willy has never made much money and that he s just

husband from the harsh realities of their real lives, which she feels would destroy him. Linda

School support staff consists of administrative assistants, teacher s aides, paraprofessionals, nurses,
cooks, custodians and maintenance staff. These faculty members have a direct relationship on how
the school runs. Most often they manage and take care of daily tasks that get overlooked but are
some of the most important things to how a school can be run smoothly. At Packer, we have a
strong group of support staff. These members of the community help aid teachers, students and
administrators in ensuring we meet the need of our students.
As an educator who is always striving to expand myself professional, I do not see myself as a

African Religion Paper
Unit IV Scholarly Activity
The religious ceremonies practiced within the African religion attempt to funnel cosmic energy or
power for the betterment of the tribe. These ceremonies serve as a way for them to build strong
relationships with other members of their community, the gods, their ancestors, and nature spirits.
The shrines and altars they use generally are not a grandiose structure. Often they are not even a
permanent structure, they can be a simple stone marker in someone s yard.
During any ceremony, there is typically singing and dancing. People wear masks to allow invisible
spirits to interact with the human world (Deming, 2015). Before approaching a holy site, it is

In my personal opinion, the Dogon people should incorporate some new practices into their
religion. They have already started to lose faith in the Hogan, in order for their religion and
culture to survive they must incorporate something new to replace him. If I could, I would
caution them to not lose their heritage in the process. Like the man in the video stated, he was a

join in the dancing and singing. He is making a good attempt to evolve his own religion and remain

Effects of U.S. Foreign Policy on Cuba
The foreign policy of the United States toward Cuba over the past fifty years has caused many
problems for the Cuban society and its people, and relations between the two nations have been at
odds for decades due to the harsh foreign policy stance of the United States toward Cuba. The
United States has considered Cuba as its enemy ever since July 1960 when Fidel Castro s new
revolutionary government changed everything. Castro seized privately owned land in Cuba,
nationalized several privately owned companies (most of which were subsidiaries of U.S.
businesses), and heavily taxed American products which led to U.S. exports being reduced greatly,

Therefore, the U.S. banned trade with and travels to Cuba and considered all countries who do
engage in Cuban trade and travel to be an enemy to the U.S. (Arcelaschi 1). When the United
States learned of Cuba s communist affiliations they did not take time to analyze the situation and
quickly cut off all relations and access to the nation, which sent a message but did nothing to
destroy communism. Even after a course of several decades with the harsh isolationist policy in
place, Castro s communist regime is still firmly in power. The U.S. was too quick in its decision
and attempt to take out the communist government and took drastic measures by imposing a full
embargo to try to solve a problem that could have been solved in a much more effective and ethical
way.
The relatively short distance between Cuba and the U.S. naturally led to a long and involved
history of relations between the two nations, but relations between the two nations over the past
fifty years have been unhealthy and harmful to both nations. The embargo imposed by the U.S. has
only been damaging and unhelpful to the situation. As a result of the new government s
nationalization policy, American investors suffered major losses and the U.S. retaliated in July
1960 by canceling planned purchases of Cuban sugar (Crouch 70). This was the first act of neglect
toward Cuba that would only quickly progress until all trade and relations were cut off with Cuba.

  • 2. Messiah Of The Masses Summary This paper is a review of the book Messiah of the Masses: Huey P. Long and the Great Depression. The book was about the life history of Huey P. Long during the great depression era. The author of this book was Glen Jeansonne and it was edited by Oscar Handlin. In 1993 this book was published by Addison Wesley Educational Publishers Inc. There are many pros and some cons in this book but overall it was a very interesting book. The author s goal was to educate everyone about the misunderstood Huey P. Long. I agree that Jeansonne did accomplish his goal of doing that while keeping a steady and fine flow throughout the book. It is also a good narration on human nature during the time of the great depression. The only cons I have about the book was that it was very hard to comprehend at points. I assume it was because I need to extend my vocabulary. Also, I did not like how the book criticized Huey P. Long a lot. Even though he was somewhat a bad person I believe the author could have put more accomplishments.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long is how he believed that was a master politician. I agree with this very much because of the way Jeansonne wrote about his campaigning strategy. He basically had citizens of Louisiana wrapped around his fingers by telling them what they wanted to hear. In chapter 7 it said that a national correspondent wrote, They do not merely vote for him, they worship the ground he walks on... (p.142) Also in chapter 3, Jeansonne supported his argument when he talked about how Huey limited his points in a speech to only five points. Afterwards he stated that an assistant of Huey said, Smith compared this tactic to promising a child a red bicycle for Christmas. (p.44) This view closely aligns with my reasoning for my position of agreeing because he would talk about doing things and no one would question how they got ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many types of bacteria, viruses, and fungi can cause opportunistic infections. The types of infections that you are at risk for are related to the reason your immune system is weak. Was World War 1 Inevitable With over thirty eight million casualties and over seventeen million recorded deaths, the First World War was one of the deadliest conflicts that the worldwide population has ever seen. World War I has been particularly exclusive in history in comparison to previous battles, by reason of the first major involvement of the world s major powers in warfare in addition to the war s foundation of causes that eventually led to the unavoidable commencement of bloodshed. The First World War was inevitable for many reasons that traced back to the beginning of the twentieth century, such as the formulation of European alliances, the inauguration of the armaments race and martial strength in European nations, and the rise of the encouragement of nationalism... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These nationalistic feelings allowed European citizens to grow extreme morale in their nation, in addition their country s individual strength in military and government. With the birth of these sentiments, however; neighbouring countries that made up the continent were denounced and portrayed to the public as untrustworthy, uncivilized, and threatening in regards to their country. Due to this, many rivalries and tensions between borders occurred, with the inclusion of the public in addition to their powerful leaders. Nationalistic pride was launched in European countries for multiple different reasons, depending on the state of the country at the time. For example, Great Britain s views regarding nationalism was apparent in relation to the country s past of maintaining strength and prosperity through peaceful relations, while nationalism was clear in Germany as a symbol of future imperialism and overwhelming continental strength. Either way, strong feelings of nationalism allowed Europe s borders to become even more divided than usual, as a result of providing an outlet for national superiority and the encouraging antagonization of surroundings nations. • 7. Student s Performance Gap Between Students And Students Introduction Academic institutions are always trying to improve the grades of their students. They are researching if a smaller classroom setting will improve the grades of their students overall. This is important because these institutions want their students to graduate in the typical four years. In another study, a small classroom setting is important during adolescence because a child develops social behaviors which later affect his or her level of learning (Cappella, 2012). Another researcher presented how students who were struggling in school benefitted from a smaller classroom and this closed the achievement gap between students (Bosworth, 2014). Also, one study reported that class size had no effect when it came to a student s performance when they were in middle school, but there is an effect when the students are in elementary school (Vaag, 2013). Students in a smaller class will have a higher grade compared to a students in a larger class. Method Participants Participants were nationally sampled from nine introductory psychology courses including each grade level, freshman through seniors. While both male and female students are included in the sample the female population is 68% of the sample size which is made up of 488 students from smaller classes and 879 students from larger classes across the country. Snowman (or Jimmy, as I will refer to him) is a perplexing character from Atwood s first introduction. He is living as the only human man among a colony of Crakers over whom he appears to be some kind of godly leader. As he wallows in his past we discover him to be almost tragic; a cruel and manipulative lover, void of any real emotionally intimate relationships, who now spends all of his time thinking, reflecting and obsessing over his past. This is depicted in Jimmy s memory of his mother s response when asked why she had resigned from her job: because I wanted to stay home with you, she said, looking over the top of Jimmy s head and puffing on her cigarette. As readers, we are invited to assume that she suffers from some kind of episodic depression though this cannot be understood by Jimmy as a child. • 13. Stereotypes In Forrest Gump White privilege and stereotypes are two ways race can influence a person s everyday life. White privilege can be defined simply as white people getting special privileges and rights because they are white. This can be seen when a white person gets a job opposed to a person of color or when white people are able to live in nicer neighborhoods while people of color live in crime ridden ones because white peoplehave more wealth. White privilege has become so normal that most people fail to see it in action. Furthermore, stereotypes can have many harmful effects as well. Stereotypes can be defined as distorted views or inaccurate beliefs about a group of people. Not all stereotypes are bad, but many of them are. An example could be saying that all African Americans are good at sports. However, this is not always the case. Stereotypes may sometimes seem harmless, but these beliefs can impact a person s life. White privilege and stereotypes are two different concepts, but they both have similar effects that tend to hurt people of color more than they hurt white people. Both of these ideas appear in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film depicts white privilege by showing only white people in positions of power, illustrates stereotypes about people of color by having a stereotypical black family, and changes black history by having a white person make achievements that people of color really made. Forrest Gump is a movie that follows a man throughout the story of his life. It starts out with Forrest Gump waiting at a bus stop when the bus arrives and a woman steps out and sits down next to him. He begins to talk to her and he offers her some chocolate. The way he talks hints to the fact that he is not the most intelligent person. He then starts to talk about her shoes which leads him to a flashback of his childhood in Greenbow, Alabama in about 1945. From there he starts to talk about everything that has happened in his life that has led him to where he is now. He talks about meeting Jenny on his first day of school, his running getting him a football scholarship for college, enlisting in the army and meeting Bubba, getting a medal of honor, and playing ping pong against China. ... Also, the story has too many themes and ideas mixed together, such as the ill baby, the neighbor girl that is home schooled, and the human like creature in the garage. By having too many themes and ideas, it makes too many mysterious parts, so that it is hard to understand what is going on. Plus, there are not so many action, so for people that likes to read a action books, might dislike Skellig. On the other hand, the people who gave 5 stars on the Amazon reviews said that there are a lot of mysterious parts in the story, and that allows your imagination to expand and makes you want to guess what is going to happen next. Furthermore, another source of the problem began with the gradual change of the climate in Darfur. Desertification, a process by which land becomes increasingly dry until almost no vegetation grows on it, becomes a major problem for the Darfur people. Land for farming becomes scarce. Living on desert is unsuitable for humans for obvious reasons: lack of food and, more importantly, lack of water. Most of the time these people were prisoners of war to make sure people knew what ultimately happens to the enemies of Rome. Later in medieval England to make statements about traitors they used and execution method know as hanged, drawn, and quartered. • 25. Agile Methodologies And Rapid Application Development Essay Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development: A Comparison Agile Methodologies Rapid Application Development look to improve the SDLC by using a framework and requirements to complete projects. The paths that both AM and RAD take to get to the finish line can differ immensely, which can ultimately lead to varying results. Agile Methodologies Matharu, Mishra, Singh, Upadhyay (2015, p. 1) state that, agile methods are characterized by shorter development cycles, higher customer interaction, incremental delivery, frequent redesign with accommodation of changes necessitated by dynamic user requirements. The Agarwal et al. text explores three of the most popular agile methods, Scrum, Extreme Programming (EP), and Kanban. All of these agile methods follow The Agile Manifesto (Beck, et al., 2001). Scrum. Scrum manages the full SDLC in short iterations called sprints. Each sprint is a smaller, full, SDLC. There are three very important roles within a scrum process, the scrum master, development team, and product owner. Collaboration is at the center of this methodology. Scrum attempts to utilize unique skills within the team to their maximum ability. Daily meetings are called to review the status of the project and assign resources where they are needed. A product and sprint backlog are maintained to provide insight on tasks, steps, and requirements to complete and meet for the ongoing project. Piaget also suggested an individual would not come to organise his/her operations in a coherent whole if they did not engage in thought exchanges and cooperation with others (Piaget, 1947, p. 174). Ann is breaking students up into different groups to perform different activities; this is portrayed through one group collecting rainfall data and another group taking notes on the impact the rain has on ants living in the area. Ann s socially constructive pedagogical approach to her lessons through the use of cooperative learning will exemplify Vygotsky s theories of peer peer scaffolding as well as the zone of proximal development. (76) Just as in the traditional English story A Christmas Carol, where Scrooge goes to bed and wakes up a new man after a series of nightmares, many authors have used the metaphor of sleep to show emotional growth in their characters. Another case in point is Kate Chopin s book on a woman s self discovery appropriately titled The Awakening. Just like these authors, Hesse proves to be no stranger to this choice of symbolism. He illustrates quite effectively and allows the reader to notice and reflect on Siddhartha s personal development on more than one level. It is easy to see that many cross cultural themes were brought into Siddhartha. Through writing on more than one level, Hesse has created a literary masterpiece that is extremely deep and meaningful. The application of the symbols he chose makes some of the themes in the novel easier to see and decipher.
