Charlottetown Conference Case Study
While the attendees of the Charlottetown Conference all came to one final decision, there was
definitely more than one point of view within the room. After failing to receive a contribution
from the Province of Canada to a major railway from Halifax to Quebec (Intercolonial Railway),
the three Maritimes colonies had organized the Conference in order to achieve a union between
the three of them, helping the colonies to receive more political power as well as overseas
investments. There were vast areas of land that the Prince Edward Island delegates were looking
to sell from landlords to people who lived outside the colony. The landlords who owned these plots

While the delegates were discussing terms, there was an American Civil War taking place to the
south. Britain was wanting to reduce its financial and military aids with its North American
colonies. This added to the giant United States armies posed a large threat to the Province of Canada
and the leaders and delegates decided to take action. In fear of the United States taking over the
northern half on the continent, there needed to be change in the colonies. When word spread of a
conference being held in Charlottetown, the Canadian politicians took the opportunity, sending a
delegation that had not been invited but was welcomed nonetheless. After the Canadians arrived to
the Conference and shared their ideas, the other attendees needed some time to think. After seeing
no big reason to disagree with the Province of Canada about uniting all of the colonies, they gave
their final statement: A unanimous vote towards the federation of all of the provinces, as long at
the terms were approved.
To summarize, there were two perspectives at the Charlottetown Conference. The three Maritimes
colonies were looking to unite as one to achieve better financial opportunities. Meanwhile, the
British North American colonies were grasping for a union between them and the Maritimes due to

Mitty s second daydream occurs after he drives past a hospital on his way to the parking lot, he
thinks he is a famous surgeon, heroic character, who saves the day. Mitty is awakened from his
daydream only to be told by the parking attendant that he is entering the parking lot the wrong

street trying to remember the other item his wife instructed him to buy. The fourth and final

Mitty is saying to his wife, he has a mind of his own and that he can think for himself.
Throughout Mitty s babblings and day dreams, he is a weak, timid man dependent on a strong
woman (Mann, 1982). Most importantly I can identify with Mitty s daydreaming not as hilarious
and outrageous as his are, but we all have a need to slip away from the hoarse realities of life and
escapism in the form of daydreaming.

I pick Doris up following work to meet Zak and Gordon at The REI store. The process of buying

The main purpose of this paper is to describe the visual analysis of the artwork. This paper
examines an Egyptian half nude portrait art which is taken from Metropolitan Museum of Art
(Fig.1). The statue characterized both male and female seated figure with a Braid hair. In this
essay, I will present a complete visual description of this artwork (its preservation, costume and
iconography), and then I will compare it to another artwork which is chosen from Textbook that is

poem. He writes in a soft and harmonious way, almost in a reflective tone. He enriches more his

Cool Man! How do you define cool? What does it mean to be cool? I m talking about being, In

Throughout history, there have been varying views toward women in society. Many of these views
are immortalized in the stories and legends that have been documented in history. Two of these
stories, Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, show the attitudes of society towards women during those
times. In Gilgamesh, women are commonly portrayed as manipulative and immoral, which is
demonstrated not only by the human women, but also by the gods. In The Odyssey, however, this
mold is broken by Penelope, Ulysses wife, and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Although there
are several women in the story who are similar in nature to characters in Gilgamesh, the overall
view is a much more positive one towards women.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is thought to be the earliest piece of literature that has been discovered and
preserved. This poem, therefore, lends great insight into the views of Mesopotamian society
towards women. Throughout the story, the women are shown to be immoral and manipulative by
the actions of Shamhat, a prostitute, and Ishtar, a scorned goddess. Shamhat s role in the story is
brief, but it lends understanding into what a woman s role was considered to be in Mesopotamia.
