Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
People generally appreciate the sight of a clean desk, or a good system to keep files tabbed and
organized in a given space. Of course, there are those who believe they work more efficiently in a
cluttered area, or claim to remember where an object was placed but now cannot seem to find it.
However, once organization, daily rituals , or the unbearable urge to adjust something comes into
play, Psychologydescribes this as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or also referred to as
Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). The mental strains inside a person with
OCD or OCPD can become psychologically dangerous for relationships or quality of life for that
person if the disorder gets out of hand. Individuals with OCPD attempt to maintain... Show more

The subjects were chosen for the study if they were caregivers of patients with diagnoses of
OCD using DSM requirements or standpoints, the subjects in the study were between the ages of
seventeen (17) and seventy (70) years, the patients had given informed consent during the
interview. The definition of a key caregiver was a non professional person in the community
who is most involved with the everyday care of the case, and would be very likely to respond to
any request for special assistance at any time, if such a request was made by the case (Falloon,
Graham Hole and Woodroffe, p.384, 1993). When more than one person was involved in caring
activities, the individual most closely related was chosen. Only one eligible patient declined to
have his carers interviewed and all caregivers agreed to participate, the response rate was 98%. As
the outcome of the study, of the forty six participants serving as the OCD patients of the study, the
strict livelihood observed by the caregiver was 3.3%. The occupational status of the patients, the
carer s work status represented a more lenient result towards a higher socioeconomic viewpoint, or

Essay The Color Purple
The Color Purple by Alice Walker is a very controversial novel, which many people found to be
very offensive. It is basically the struggle for one woman s independence. The main character in
The Color Purple is Celie a coloured woman with little or no education at all. She is one who has
been used and abused by all the men in her life, and because of these men, she has very little
courage or ambition in her life. She has so little courage, that all she wants to do is just survive.
Through the various women she meets throughout here life like: Shug, her sister, and Harpo s
wife, she learns how to enjoy herself, gain courage and happiness. She finally learns enough and
with the final straw she could no longer bare, she leaves her husband... Show more content on

Shug Avery is not only a friend to Celie but also a lover. It is by being a lover that Celie learns
self respect and a little happiness in her life. Like when Shug Avery showed Celie how to enjoy
herself. Listen she say, right down there in your ... is a little button that gits real hot when you
do you know what with somebody. It get hotter and hotter and then it melt. That the good part. But
other parts good too, she say... (P. 79). I found this real important as it showed Celie she can enjoy
herself and there is more to her then just being a slave to Mister. Another important woman in
Celie s life was Harpo s wife Sofia. Sofia wasn t as important to Celie as Shug Avery or her sister
Nettie, but it was Sofia s actions that I believe helped inspire Celie. For when Harpo tried to beat
Sofia, thanks to Celie s advice to Harpo to beat his wife, Sofia would always fight back. Not only
emotionally but physically as well, for one day when Celie was going to Harpo s house she saw
Harpo and Sofia fighting like twos mens (P. 44). And I think Celie was really shocked when Sofia
confronted her on why Celie told Harpo to beat Sofia. I say it cause I m a fool, I say it cause I m
jealous of you. I say it cause you do what I can t. What that? She say. Fight I say. ... She say all

Bringing Papa John s to Poland
From 1997 2001, Poland s compensation per employee (CPE) was increasing at double digit
growth rates, according to the OECD. Starting in 2002, Poland s CPE growth rate was less than
the EU average. In 2007, Poland s CPE growth rate exceeded the EU average again. CPE growth
reached 3.08% in Poland in 2013 while CPE in the EU as a whole remained stagnant.
Labor productivity in Poland has consistently been above the EU average. From 1997 to 2013,
Poland has seen a 3.78% growth rate while the EU average has only experienced a 0.75% growth
rate. Even in the 2008 recession, Poland had a positive growth rate while the Euro average declined.
Poland experienced double digit unemployment rates from 2000 2006. In 2008, the unemployment
rate dropped to 7.1% which was the first time the unemployment rate fell below the EU average.
Unfortunately, since 2008, the unemployment rate has steadily increased to 10.5% in 2013.
However, Poland s unemployment rate remains below the EU average and forecasts for 2014 show
the rate decreasing slightly.
Poland s GDP growth did not stop during the recession and has been above the EU average since
2002. In 2013, Poland s GDP growth rate was 1.45% while the EU average was .43%.

According to the European Commission 2020, major challenges faces Poland s economy are

Why Is Woolf Important In A Room Of One s Own
Woolf: A room of One s Own
Virginia Woolf s passage in A Room of One s Own does a nice job showing how word choice and
splashes of imagery can take an opinion from just a statement to something that can be visualized
and impactful to others. By using good word choice and imagery, Woolf was able to show the
emotional, physical, and mental toll others had on creative women.
Before the war, at a luncheon party like this, people would have said precisely the same things but
they would have would sounded different, because in those days they were accompanied by sort of
humming noise, not articulate, but musical, exciting, which changed the value of the words
themselves. (Woolf, 344). She is saying that before the war, dialect communication was a form of
poetry because it sounded like a rhythmic flow of words that strengthened the mind. This reveals
that people lived in romantic ideology and in an illusion where everything was simple and beautiful.
Therefore, the quote that I did mentioned is important because it illustrates the communication in
the delusional English culture and how communication evolved into a coarser for after the war.
Indeed, If woman had no existence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judith (Shakespeare s sister) was trapped by the stereotypes and notions of her time. Everyone
believed because she was woman trapped her as well as any cage and to have greatness trapped
inside of you is curse. I can think of no other more unbearable burden than knowing you are
meant for more, knowing that you could be more, and being unable to do anything about it. It is
enough to drive anyone insane and Woolf says it well, Any woman born with a great gift in the
sixteenth century would certainly have gone crazed, shot herself, or ended her days in some lonely
cottage outside the village, half witch, half wizard, feared and mocked at. (Woolf,

Harry Potter Chesney Essay
Knoxville, Tennessee is known for many things, especially known as a college town. Little did
anyone know that on March 26, 1968 a superstar would be born, and the star would not be known
for throwing, running, or catching footballs but singing ( Kenny Chesney. )? The country genre did
not know it for a while, but it had a person that was going to bring country musicto new heights.
With a mix of some traditional country music mix with some rock country and island country music
it would make Kenny Chesneya very successful country artist.
Kenny Arnold Chesney grew up in a blue collar family to a father who was an elementary school

a big success to Chesney by it becoming his first gold album and having his first single When I

Alabama when this album was released. Kenny was opening for Alabama, which gave him great

Jem Coming Of Age Essay
To Destroy a Camellia Bush
Wouldn t you have a feeling of repulsion for an old lady who is always talking down to you? To
Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee introduces the story of two siblings, Scout and Jem, growing
up in a racial society. Jem, Scout s sister, undergoes many coming of age experiences. One of the
coming of age experiences Jem has faced is when he has to do a favor for Mrs. Dubose, the old
lady Scout and Jem don t like and who is also a morphine addict. Jem s coming of age experience
is developed by Mrs. Dubose through Conflict, Irony, and Imagery. To start with, the first coming
of age experience Jem faces is Conflict. In chapter 11 of To Kill A Mockingbird
, Jem and Mrs.
Dubose have a person vs. person external conflict with each other. Referring back to the book, it
says She put her hand to her mouth. When she drew it away, it trailed a long silver thread of

Dubose through the author s use of Conflict, Irony, and Imagery. Jem s coming of age
experience develops when he gets furious with Mrs. Dubose s attitude towards him and his
family, but then realizes why she s always been a rude, old lady through Atticus s explanation. It
also develops when Jem is asked to read to Mrs. Dubose which is something that was very
unexpected. His coming of age experience develops when Jem and Scout are with Mrs. Dubose
closer than they ever have been with her. The point, though is Jem and Scout think of Mrs.
Dubose as an old, horrible lady and they don t really like her for what she has done to them and
their family. After they discover an explanation from Atticus saying that the things she does is all
because of her morphine addiction, they start to understand why does so. If people knew about
Mrs. Dubose s problem and her addiction, then maybe they wouldn t think of her as the old lady

Issues and Debate of Anthropogenic Climate Change
In the last few decades, the issue of anthropogenic climate change (ACC) human caused climate
change has come to the forefront of public, political, and scientific awareness. There has been much
debate regarding the legitimacy of ACC, despite an article from the National Aeronautics and Space
Administration stating:
Ninety seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate warming trends over the past century
are very likely due to human activities, and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide
have issued public statements endorsing this position.
With this in mind, it is important to examine the rationale behind this seemingly unfounded
opposition to ACC.
Organized Climate Change Denial by Dunlap and McCright (2011) introduces this rationale and
gives a face to this denial. They present the idea of a denial machine . This machine is made of
various different actors including conservative media, fossil fuel industries, and various front
groups these will be discussed in greater detail within the paper. Essentially, the motivations of the
various cogs (actors) vary from economic to ideological to personal, yet overall they rally around
shared opposition to governmental regulatory efforts to ameliorate climate change, such as
restrictions to carbon emissions. (source) A large factor in governmental regulatory efforts is public
opinion and, not coincidentally, there were significant declines in public belief of global warming in
2009 and 2010. This spread

Systems Analysis And Design Of Iain s Co
Systems Analysis and Design
Help sheet:
Introduction:
For this unit I have been asked to produce a database for Iain s Co who are a large building
service company, but before that I have to plan everything out by analysing and designing the
database for the company s newly taken over smaller company.
Scenario:
Iain s Co are a large building company who at present have employed IT technicians in order for
their technical aspects to be managed and to also support the IT users in the company. In recent
time Iain s Co s have taken over a smaller company who require some help with their database as
they want to include some new features that can improve and link both company data s together in
order to manage the two sites on one database.
Outline principles of systems analysis:
What is a system analysis?
A system analysis is a data processing method that is widely used in the business department for
breaking down a problem into different parts to reduce the difficulty of the problem and identifying
the needs to solve the problem more easily and more efficiently.
This will be helping Iain s Co greatly because they need a system that can break down problems so
that it reduces the difficulty of the problem.
What is an SSADM?
Structured Systems Analysis and Design Method is also more commonly known as SSADM,
which is an amalgamation of text and diagrams through the entire life cycle of a system design,

(Sahuquillo 2007). Brain injury is normally thought of in terms of primary and secondary
insults. First published in the 1970 s this remains a useful concept as it differentiates between
the unavoidable irreversible primary injury and the potentially avoidable secondary one (Adams
1977). Primary brain injury occurs immediately at the time of injury, whereas secondary injury is
a cascade of events that contributes to intracranial hypertension resulting in a reduction in
cerebral perfusion pressure and ischaemia (Marmarou 1991). The cerebral perfusion pressure
(CPP) is determined by the Monro Kellie hypothesis. In closed head injuries, the skull has a fixed
volume and the pressure within it is determined by the equilibrium between the CPP, the mean
arterial pressure (MAP) and the intracranial pressure (ICP) using the equation: CPP = MAP в€’
ICP Therefore, assuming a constant blood pressure, as ICP rises CPP must fall. Minimising the
ICP, should minimise ischaemia and brain damage resulting from localised pressure thus leading to
a global increase in perfusion and therefore oxygen delivery to the brain. There is class I evidence
that cooling to a mild hypothermic state of ≤35oC reduces intracranial hypertension by limiting
cerebral oedema. In addition it is thought that moderate hypothermia of 33oC

Nonverbal Communication Essay
Found information states that nonverbal communication is the process of transporting messages
through behaviors, physical characteristics and objects . Its how and what we use in order to
express our feelings and say things. Using symbols is a way of using nonverbal communication.
Also nonverbal communication is the way we use body languageand gestures too. Nonverbal
communication is often used unconsciously. When using the certain communication it can be
misinterpreted also. There are many different categories of nonverbal communication. They are the
following: Aesthetics, Artifacts, Chronemics, Haptics, Kinesics, Paralanguage, Physical
Appearance, Proxemics, and Oculesics.
Aesthetics is the study of nature, beauty and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a form of nonverbal communication . Found information also states that, the length of time that
we spend engaged in an activity reflects our priorities and preferences . The use of your time tells
what your priorities are. For example, you are a college student and you club and party all the
time and rarely go to class. That tells that school isn t really your top priority partying is.
Haptics is the study of touch and the use of it. Research states that women are more likely to touch
more than men. Also, they associate touch with warmth and expression. Women are touched more
gently than men are. Men are touched more harshly and they use their touch to direct, assert power,
and to express sexual interest .
Kinesics is the study of body movements, meaning gestures, facial expression, and posture. Now
this is one of the nonverbal categories that are very much misinterpreted. Research states that
women s facial and body motions generally signal approachability, and friendliness. They tend to
use less and more restrained gestures. Women are attracted to those who smile more. They tend to
use facial expression a lot to send and receive messages. Women often tilt their head and body to
the side more also. And of course their posture is more intense than males are .
Paralanguage is how we say what we say. Research states that paralanguage includes grunt, groans,

The Biblical Subtext in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting For Godot...
Samuel Beckett may have renounced the use of Christian motifs in Waiting for Godot, but
looking at the character of Lucky proves otherwise. We can see Lucky as a representative figure
of Christ as his actions in the play carry a sort of criticism of Christianity. His role suggests that the
advantages of Christianity have declined to the point where they no longer help humanity at all. If
you analyze the poem Waiting for Godotyou can see the huge parallels between the character of
Luckyand Jesus. Lucky, bound with a rope, is the disgraced prisoner, very similar to the story of
Jesus as the prisoner of the Romans after Judas turned him in. Pozzo beats, yells at, and spits on
Lucky the same way the Roman treated Jesus when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lucky slowly chokes as the rope cuts into his neck just as crucifixion suffocated Jesus until he was
dead. Pozzo, rephrasing Estragon s question, then asks a emblematic question concerning Lucky,
he asks Why he doesn t make himself comfortable? . This question refers specifically to the
taunting spectators gave to Jesus, telling him to save himself and if he is the son of God to get
himself off the cross, this also refers generally to Christ s mission of suffering on earth to
forgive us of our sins. Pozzo tells them that Lucky doesn t want to let go of the luggage because
He wants to mollify me, so that I will give up the idea of parting with him . He also says that
Lucky imagines that when I see how well he carries I ll be tempted to keep him on in that
capacity . This is extremely similar to the way that Jesus believed that he had to carry out his
burden of crucifixion to awaken humanity s faith in God for time to come. Jesus directed his
apostles to make disciples of all nations and to teach them to carry out everything I have
commanded you. And always know that I am with you (Matthew 28:18 20). Jesus wanted us as
humans to act in his own memory, or to keep himself on in that capacity, which was that of teacher,
consoler, and in the end deliverer of salvation. In the past Pozzo had benefitted from Lucky, now he
thinks the benefits are gone. Something,

Human Papillomavirus And Its Effects On Female Health
Human papillomavirus, otherwise known as HPV, is the most prevalent sexually transmitted
infection in North America (Dell et al. 2000; Gross 2014). Awareness of human papillomavirus is
rather low and is often overshadowed by infections with much more noticeable symptoms such as
gonorrhea and syphilis. The disease is usually associated with women due to its association with
cervical cancer (Dell et al. 2000), and men are often overlooked. However, males are at risk just as
much as females. There is plenty of evidence showing that human papillomavirushas detrimental
effects to male health, yet females are usually the ones tested for the disease and are vaccinated.
With today s advancements in medicine, vaccinations should be administered to everyone to
vastly reduce the prevalence of human papillomavirus, yet it is the most common STI. If males
were vaccinated as much as females, highly preventable effects of human papillomavirus would
diminish amongst the world population. Worldwide governments and public health agencies
should fund HPV vaccination for males as well as females. Before any talks of vaccination, the
prevalence of HPV in males had to be determined. It turns out, HPV prevalence in men was very
common. First of all, it was found that the peak of HPV infection was found in the male age
group of 20 24 years of age. (Gross 2014). This was due to higher rates of first sexual contact and
increased sexual activity in that age group. It was also found that HPV

Charlottetown Conference Case Study
While the attendees of the Charlottetown Conference all came to one final decision, there was
definitely more than one point of view within the room. After failing to receive a contribution
from the Province of Canada to a major railway from Halifax to Quebec (Intercolonial Railway),
the three Maritimes colonies had organized the Conference in order to achieve a union between
the three of them, helping the colonies to receive more political power as well as overseas
investments. There were vast areas of land that the Prince Edward Island delegates were looking
to sell from landlords to people who lived outside the colony. The landlords who owned these plots
of land rarely fulfilled all of the requirements that were provided. The Island settlers... Show more

While the delegates were discussing terms, there was an American Civil War taking place to the
south. Britain was wanting to reduce its financial and military aids with its North American
colonies. This added to the giant United States armies posed a large threat to the Province of Canada
and the leaders and delegates decided to take action. In fear of the United States taking over the
northern half on the continent, there needed to be change in the colonies. When word spread of a
conference being held in Charlottetown, the Canadian politicians took the opportunity, sending a
delegation that had not been invited but was welcomed nonetheless. After the Canadians arrived to
the Conference and shared their ideas, the other attendees needed some time to think. After seeing
no big reason to disagree with the Province of Canada about uniting all of the colonies, they gave
their final statement: A unanimous vote towards the federation of all of the provinces, as long at
the terms were approved.
To summarize, there were two perspectives at the Charlottetown Conference. The three Maritimes
colonies were looking to unite as one to achieve better financial opportunities. Meanwhile, the
British North American colonies were grasping for a union between them and the Maritimes due to
their fear caused by the American Civil War. After sharing ideas with the Maritimes, the Canadian

Analysis: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Tara Jackson
ENG 125 Introduction to Literature
Instructor Alfaro
April 18, 2011
The short story that I will do an analysis on is the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, written by James
Thurber in March of 1939. This story centers around the hilarious and amusing daydreams of Walter
Mitty an ordinary man, who resides in Waterbury, Connecticut, with his overbearing, nagging wife
Mrs. Mitty. Throughout this short story Mitty is characterized as being a pathetic, timid man, who

Mitty s second daydream occurs after he drives past a hospital on his way to the parking lot, he
thinks he is a famous surgeon, heroic character, who saves the day. Mitty is awakened from his
daydream only to be told by the parking attendant that he is entering the parking lot the wrong
way. Third daydream, Mitty daydreams that he is a witness in a courtroom trial, walking down the
street trying to remember the other item his wife instructed him to buy. The fourth and final
daydream Mitty thinks he s a captain in a war plane, he was awakened by his wife, Mrs. Mitty in
a hotel lobby and confronted about not wearing his overshoes, and why he hiding in that particular
chair, Mitty replies to his wife that does it ever occur to her that he is thinking. (Clugston, 2010).
Mitty is saying to his wife, he has a mind of his own and that he can think for himself.
Throughout Mitty s babblings and day dreams, he is a weak, timid man dependent on a strong
woman (Mann, 1982). Most importantly I can identify with Mitty s daydreaming not as hilarious
and outrageous as his are, but we all have a need to slip away from the hoarse realities of life and
escapism in the form of daydreaming.

I pick Doris up following work to meet Zak and Gordon at The REI store. The process of buying
a road bike is effortless with Zak. He shows Doris and me the exact ones for us. Without
hesitancy, she pulls out her credit card. I am less eager to spend the money, but don t overthink
the expense and just do it. Gordon is next to pick one. He takes his time and eventually settles on
the bicycle Zak prefers. And later, it s time to shop for cycling clothes, a pair of road shoes, bike

Murder Convicts Research Paper
Policy argument on the death Penalty for Murder convicts
The society is set such that for peaceful co existence between people, law and order need to be
maintained. In this case, anyone who tries to go against these rules should be punished regardless
of their financial status or religious background. Additionally, one case that has resulted to various
discussions and debates relates to the extent to which the death penalty should be used especially
for those who have been convicted of murder charges. At per the current policies, not all states use
death penalty for those who have been charged with murder and from my own point of view this
has resulted to several negative impacts as far as crime rates and linked murders are concerned.

On the other hand, many believed that the lives in the prisons were generally worse and enough
punishment for those convicted of life sentences. Additionally another bigger sections believed
that it served to violate the Human rights and for countries such as the United States, it would
tarnish their image. However, what this aggregates fails to acknowdge is what the resultant
murder might have had on the victims. The psychological and emotional trauma that is
associated with losing a close member of the family or friend. It is in this regards that it comes
out clear that to some extent the society in general and the government tends to sympathize more
with the criminal instead of the victims who might not even had a chance to see their bereaved

that the same bad crimes will continue to happen even if the engine is in prison. The prison in
this can therefore even serve as a good point where the criminal can continue to exercise his or

Theme Of Mending Wall And Birches
To know the meaning of these two poems, Mending Wall and Birches , we first must understand
what are these poems about on a literal level. Mending Wall tells about the story of a rock wall,
that is build to separate two properties (the speaker and his neighbor) in the countryside, and
something is always destroying it. On the other hand, we have the poem of Birches and the
speaker talks about how he does not like how the birches bend because of the storm so he imagines
that children are the ones who climb the birchtree as high as they can and then when they have
reached the point where the birch can support their weight any more, they bend the birch because
the kick their legs and pull the tree down to one side. With this information we can discuss and try
to understand the deeper meaning of these two poems and how... Show more content on

In the poem of Mending Wall , Frost uses soundto enrich and enhances his theme/meaning of the
poem. He writes in a soft and harmonious way, almost in a reflective tone. He enriches more his
theme of separation/barrier building to give empathy towards the speaker and the way he asks
himself, why is the stonewall still there separating both the speaker and his neighbor. Before I
built a Wall/I d ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out,/And to whom I was like to
give offense. However, there is the implication that something even deeper is going on and Frost
uses a harsh tone for it. When he inscribes a certain type of dialogue between the speaker and his
neighbor, the neighbor s response is very harsh and discordant. My apple trees will never get
across/And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him/He only says/Good fences make good
neighbors . With this response the reader can connect with the speaker and see how harsh the
speaker s neighbor response is. Here we can see the theme of this poem is that a respectful distance
between neighbors is the recipe for harmonious relationships: Good fences make good neighbors .

Male Stereotypes In Pop Culture
Throughout pop culture men are portrayed in a variety of different ways. Men are shown in a
numerous number of roles, in both film and television. Within the roles they play, they are shown to
act certain ways around women, friends, and family and, most of the time, they are shown in a way
that isnot alwaysan accurate representation of every manand is often harmful to themselves and
others. Malestereotypes are commonly overlooked because many people don t see how men can
be stereotyped nearly as often as women are, but in a lot of media they are. Men are typically
portrayed as perverts, immature, aggressive, and lazy. While these traits might be found in some
men, they aren t found in all, yet they are very prevalent in today s media. Since these attributes are

The Role Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Throughout history, there have been varying views toward women in society. Many of these views
are immortalized in the stories and legends that have been documented in history. Two of these
stories, Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, show the attitudes of society towards women during those
times. In Gilgamesh, women are commonly portrayed as manipulative and immoral, which is
demonstrated not only by the human women, but also by the gods. In The Odyssey, however, this
mold is broken by Penelope, Ulysses wife, and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Although there
are several women in the story who are similar in nature to characters in Gilgamesh, the overall
view is a much more positive one towards women.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is thought to be the earliest piece of literature that has been discovered and
preserved. This poem, therefore, lends great insight into the views of Mesopotamian society
towards women. Throughout the story, the women are shown to be immoral and manipulative by
the actions of Shamhat, a prostitute, and Ishtar, a scorned goddess. Shamhat s role in the story is
brief, but it lends understanding into what a woman s role was considered to be in Mesopotamia.
She was not ashamed to take him, she made herself naked and welcomed his eagerness (Gilgamesh,
Par. 11). Shamhat s actions demonstrate a licentious and immoral representation of women. She is
known to be a prostitute and is responsible ultimately for the downfall of Enkidu. Without her
temptation,

Procedural justice is the act involved in decision making. It incorporates the process of involving

Local materials are usually more expensive, meaning the economic impact of using local materials
rather than imported ones means that the cost doubles, and therefore the selling price increases
considerably too. Considering the housing situation in New Zealand, people cannot afford to spend

The Reality Of Film Production And Consumption
Superhero movies experienced a rise in production and promotion for the last decade; with success
in apply the cinematic universe in popular culture. Two major American comics studios: Marvel
comics and DC comics have been transforming their statics comics into a motion picture,
Nevertheless, each studio has it own cinematic universe and they expand to include short films and
TV series. As the following, this essay wills analysis the concept of genres with Marvel
superheroes movies as an example.
Genre is an ambiguous term in movies, because the nature of genre has no restriction, a movie can
be involved with numbers of features from multiple genres , however, Genre become accessible
with criticism, consumption and production. As Schatz, T. (1981) notes that the nature of film
production and consumption, identifying film genres scarcely involves the subjective, interpretive

Summary Cost of Capital
The Cost of Capital
1
Background
As investors desire to obtain the best/highest return on their investments in securities such as shares
(Equity) and loans to companies such as debentures (Debt), these returns are costs to the companies
paying these Dividends (on equity) and Interest (on
Debts)!
It all depends on the perspective from which we chose to view the calculation (are we Earning or
Paying?)
Companies MUST consider the cost of financing they receive in the form of equity or debt if they
are to manage their finances better; cheaper finance cost to the company means higher profitability
and in most cases, superior cash flow. Generally, the cost of EQUITY has no tax effect but the cost
of DEBT finance to companies are

The Cost of Debt
Based on equivalent assumptions to those used in the DVM above, we conclude that:
PV interest stream = Market Value (MV of debenture ) Note:
(DEBT in this case!)
The tax system gives tax relief on interest payments by allowing tax deductions from company s
Profit Loss account (thus REDUCING taxable profit). This has the effect of reducing the Cost of
DEBT or what do you think?
Lower Tax means lower cost of finance as WITHOUT the tax relief, the company will pay
HIGHER tax bills and the full cost of the loan BUT in this case, you pay the FULL interest BUT
save on TAX, see it?
Therefore the true cost to the company of servicing the debentures will be after the tax relief
subsidy is taken into account.

Conclusion
In this study, a polymer inclusion membrane was prepared and succevally applied for the removal
of citric acid from synthetic wastewater. The mixture of CTA and CA was found to be the optimum
base polymer for quantitative transport of citric acid. Moreover, the nature of carrier especially
alkyl chain length, stirring rate, and pH of feed phase are also important factors affecting the
increased rate of citric acid transport. Hence, from results obtained it can be seen that the
investigated calix[4]resorcinarene are effective extractants for citric acid and that their extraction
abilities depend on the alkyl chain length of the substituent in the macrocycle. Choosing the
appropriate length of alkyl chain, very selective system can be designed. The excellent efficiency
for the citric acid transport by the proposed PIM system reveals its potential application for the
selective removal, concentration and purification of citric acid from different media.

Siemens
Siemens AG is a German based company founded in 1847, employs over 416,000 people in 190
countries, and has over 60.1 billion Euros in sales worldwide. Siemens became the electronics,
telecommunications, and electrical engineering powerhouse that it is today by consistently
innovating and discovering new technologies. After starting out as a small precision engineering
workshop making wire insulation and warning bells for railroads, the company discovered the
dynamoelectric principle, built the first electrical railway and developed the first electrical elevator.

We have evaluated two problems being faced by Siemens and we will provide recommendations
based on our knowledge and research of the issues at hand. We recognized that managementis under
intense pressure to make a decision concerning ShareNet and poor quality decisions can waste
time and money and at worst, can risk the company s future. The first problem that will be
addressed is who should fund the continued support and development of the ShareNet system.
Since the early stages of the project, ShareNet was funded as a corporate initiative, but due to the
restructuring activities, the question at hand is whether Corporate would continue to fund the
project, or should the costs be absorbed by Siemens five product divisions. Part of this initiative is
to request that each product division pay a per user fee for every user registered in ShareNet.
The first business issue that we will address is the broader implementation of ShareNet on an
Enterprise level. ShareNet was originally created by the developers in the ICN group and the
system proved to be a success for the Sales, Marketing and Research team. Siemens has several
divisions with different processes, procedures, and knowledge systems, and developers believed
that it would be difficult to implement ShareNet throughout other business units because much of
the knowledge s architecture was developed to reflect sales and marketing processes. Extending the
use of ShareNet to other

Kadampa Meditation Paper
While looking through the field visit site list and researching many of the different options, I was
drawn to the Vajradhara Buddhist Center, also known as the Kadampa Meditation Center of North
Carolina. I discovered that they offered an Introduction to Meditation class which seemed to be
perfect for me. The Kadampa Meditation Center s website describes the class as being ideal for
beginners and newcomers to Buddhismand meditation. With having no prior experience with any
Buddhist practices or meditation, I presumed this class would be a great way for me to learn the
basics of meditation, its role in Buddhism, and get to actually experience meditation for myself.
Through this hands on learning experience, I was able to learn that meditation is much more than
just a casual practice; it takes great dedication and commitment to master.
Before visiting, I did some preliminary research to gain a perspective on Kadampa Buddhism. I
found that the New Kadampa Tradition puts a high emphasis on Buddha s teachings and applies
many practical methods to their practice. Kadampa Buddhism is eager to reach new generations
and provide a way for everyone to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He discussed how there are many obstacles in the way of meditation, he described these things as
opponents . He explained a form of meditation where you can concentrate on a virtuous object to

to study the statue of Buddha that was sitting in the room. He told us to examine every detail of his
face. Then, we were to close our eyes and begin meditating, while focusing and concentrating on
that image of Buddha in our minds. After this meditation, the instructor spoke a bit more and lead
us through one last mediation using a different technique, but I found the second meditation,
focusing on an object, to be the easiest for me to remain

Gst Reform Proposal Essay
Policy issue:
Should the federal government proceed with broadening the base AND increasing the rate of the
GST rate to 15%?
Background:
Treasurer,
Despite Paul Keating expressing support for a consumption tax in 1985, the GST did not gain
serious political traction until it formed the centrepiece of the Fightback! platform championed by
Liberal opposition leader John Hewson. The difficulties of explaining the nuances of a goods and
services tax (GST) to the public significantly contributed to Hewson losing in 1993 what many
commentators considered to be an unlosable election (Eccleston 2013).
Since its legislative inception in 1999 by the Liberal/National Howard government, the GST has
formed a central role in Australia s taxation regime. In 2014 15, revenue from the GST ... Show

Through increasing government revenue by approximately $27 billion the package would improve
the budgetary position of the government and reduce the burden that growing budget deficits
impose on future generations.
However, an issue with increasing or broadening consumption taxes such as the GST is that low
income households are disproportionately impacted due to flat increases in the price of goods
and services costing a higher percentage of their disposable income when compared to wealthier
households (Congressional Budget Office 1992, p. 75). A survey of low to middle income
households showed that 89% of respondents were either very concerned or quite concerned about
broadening the GST base (NSW Council of Social Service 2015, p. 39). In response, the Grattan
Institute suggests that GST reform can be made more progressive if it is bundled with a larger
fiscal reform package such as higher welfare payments and targeted tax

The City Of Future Summary
Davis in his book describes that, years back Los Angeles was a heaven of public places but with
the present scenario it not the same and is slowly that culture is diminishing in the name of urban
renaissance. He quotes that democratic public spaces like parks, free beaches, cruising strips do not
exist anymore in the name of development. The intended purpose of this is to secure the city. In
order to protect the poor and provide shelter to the homeless the public parks and streets were
transformed to households. This urban renaissance is also called The City of Future by the author
who also affords to provide living for millions of aspiring immigrants.
The massive development of Los Angeles has created a diversity between various classes of
people. The architectural renovation was one of the primary steps taken by the city in order to
reduce the public spaces such as parks, grounds, empty lands which has driven the poor out of
the city. The people with no homes are only confined to small areas by police force. I think it is
not only Los Angeles as a particular city that created such a situation to the poor but also other
metropolitan cities where life has become helpless and Davis sees this issue as a concealed myth
which redefines the real history of Los Angeles warfare. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to create less exposure of downtown professionals to the streets, redevelopments of places
were done which ensure the gap between different classes. To establish the separation, new parking
structures are built with high security monitoring, greenery and as well as entertainment places in
some areas. Gentrification is especially seen in two major hubs such as the Reagan Building and
Grand Central Square which demands additional security all round the clock which says that the
city wants to portray only the good side of and not the

The Deal Made Between The Devil And Dr. Faustus Was Sprouted
The deal made between the devil and Dr. Faustus was sprouted by Faustus inability to believe God
loved him and his rejection of all Christian values. Faustus assumes he can control the devil, but no
one can resist being corrupted by the devil and the powers he has. Although Faustus had numerous
opportunities to turn back and seek redemption, he was dominated by his desire to know and learn
beyond his boundaries. The deal truly isn t beneficial for Faustus after considering the exact nature
of their agreement and he was cautioned against the bargain, showing him the fate that a deal with
the devilwill never get you the rewards you re looking for. While Faustus had many important goals
he would achieve with magical powers, his deal with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Faustus demands power, Mephostophilis is miserable in hell and wants Faustus s soul where
the two make an unfair bargain. Before Doctor Faustus writes the contract for the deal, in his own
blood, Mephostophilis gives him his last chance to change his mind, which is when Faustus
decides to continue with the deal. After the contract is written, Faustus asks Mephostophilis to
bring him a wife, wealth and super powers. While Faustus believes that Mephostophilis will be his
servant for the next 24 years before selling his soul, it soon becomes known that it is Faustus who
is the servant to Lucifer and his devil friends.
Faustus believes that he will come out on top in the deal even if it means eternal punishment in the
end. He puts his temporary pleasures before his fate which shows how impatient and unhappy he
really is. Even when God reaches out to Faustus through the Good Angel , Faustus puts all his
trust into Lucifer. He says, When Mephostophilis shall stand by me, What God can hurt thee,
Faustus? Thou art safe (Act 1 Scene 5. Lines 24 25). Faustus clearly does not value his own soul
and does not reflect on why the devil would want it. Dr. Faustus is deceived about what making a
deal with the devil will encompass. He tells Mephostophilis, Had I as many souls as there be stars,
I d give them all for Mephostophilis. By him I ll be great emperor of the world (Act 1 Scene 3.
Lines 101 103).

Grendel
Grendel as a Ridiculous Character Probably one of the greatest questions of the 19th century
comes directly from John Gardner s novel Grendel. Given a world with no inherent meaning, how
should one live his or her life? Grendel lives in a world that he is not supposed to be in, acting out
on emotion. Grendelrepresents the animalistic traits of humans. His actions are primitive and
based around society s acceptance throughout the novel. Grendel portrays a ridiculous character
that is convinced we are born a certain way, and no matter how badly it will never change. Being
that Grendel is a ridiculous child like character there are two points of view in this analysis. The
analysis of Grendel, and his actions against humanity that is... Show more content on

Grendel is a perfect example of the minorities who received guidance from people who didn t
want change to happen even though they were being out casted as well. On the other hand
chapter six brings someone with compassion into Grendel s life. Unferth son of Hrothgar
witnesses Grendel attacking the mead hall, and starts to challenge Grendel very vocally
QUOTE Grendel responds with childlike sarcasm, and begins to show Unferth his capacity for
language, and pities Unferth for his courage, and the belief in heroism. Grendel doesn t
romanticize about heroism the way Unferth does. Grendel does not kill Unferth, and curses him
with never taking his life during any of his raids on the mead hall. Further on the next ridiculous
event in Grendel happens as Grendel watches as Hrothgar confronts the Helmings, as they
surrender apart of the agreement becomes The leader s daughter Wealtheow. Hrothgar takes
Wealtheow as his wife, and Queen of the mead hall. Captivated by her presence Grendel
envisions child like fantasy of hanging on to her dress as she embraces him just as she does with
the children in Hart. Wealtheow is a representative of a strong woman who is beautiful, and can
stop an argument between thanes with one word. Because of Wealtheow s presence Grendel

The Problem Of Global Climate Change
Other than political stories in 2016 we still see and hear of many Global Warming scenarios, what
causes them, who is the main reason for the cause, and when it actually started. We are going to
take a look at the reality of what is really happening.
Let s assume that all ice caps and glaciers in the world melted. What would be the result of such a
catastrophe, how long would it take, who would be affects, and would we suffer any loss because
of this?
Global climate change has been more and more discussed with the ever changing climate, and the
rise of water levels, we need to figure out why the water levels have been changing so rapidly. Is
there any change we humans can do to prevent disaster? Or are we on a collision course with no
way to turn around?
This is a list of the known ice inventories within our world that I have found from Dr. Robert
Johnston regarding if the ice melts. As you can see Dr. Robert Johnston has done his studies and
research about this topic.
World ice inventory
A melting of the entire list would cause a rise of about 200 250 feet of the world wide sea level.
This seems dangerous, but it would take several hundred years to occur, if at all for that to even
happen and even if it did we would no longer be alive.
As Dr. Robert Johnston said Today the Earth has 148 million sq. km of land area, of which 16
million sq. km is covered by glaciers. A sea level rise of 66 meters would flood about 13 million sq.
km of land outside of Antarctica. If we

Discussion On An Instructional Method
Discussion as an Instructional Method I would use discussion as an instructional method
because it is a great interactive learning tool and facilitates listening, teamwork, confidence,
critical thinking, critical listening and critical reading. Moreover, classroom discussions can
help students sharpen their communication and speaking skills. Classroom discussion helps to
dispel myths and preconceived prejudices about others and students tend to develop mutual
respect for one and others. Above all, discussions foster better understanding as students share
their take on the subject, additional knowledge is shared. Hence, discussions require keen
listening skills. I would say from my personal experience, classroom discussions opened up my
own understanding of many subjects and helped me to navigate toward right thinking. The best
way to express my love of this teaching method is to tell the story of how much I hated it when I
started Mercer University. My second semester at Mercer, I had surgery and had to take two
online classes. This was when I was first introduced to the discussion method. As with most
things new, it was frustrating. It grew more challenging because the responses that I had to reply
to did not make sense 80% of the time. Many of the students did not write very well and we were
required to respond. It was extremely difficult to respond to something that did not make sense. So,
I became a critical reader. I made sense out of

Feature-Based Surround Impression Report
Now what we are interested in feature based surround suppression domain is the how direction and
speed interact with each other. As Daniel mentioned, paying attention to a certain feature suppresses
other nearby features. Studies done on featured based surround suppression, up to this point, have
only examined the effect of surround suppression on only one type of feature, such as motion
direction or speed, and have not investigated feature based surround suppression with feature
conjunction. Therefore, we are interested to find out how feature based surround suppression
profile would change when the two features are combined by using motion repulsion as a mean to
measure the effects. We know, with small directional differences, there is a

Another study by Curran and Benton shows that as the speed of the distractor increases, there is an
increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Curran and Benton concluded that the reduction in
magnitude of higher distractor speeds are due to at least 2 factors; reduced apparent contrast of high
speed distractors, and whether distractor and target motions are accessed by the same or different
global motion channels. Therefore, there is a linear relationship between the distractor speed and
target motion in slow speeds. This suggest that as the speed difference between the two surfaces
increases, there would be an increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Our method for
investigating the effects of motion direction in conjunction with speed on motion repulsion
includes measuring seeped at 5 to 7 different rates and measuring motion with 2 conditions (similar
vs. dissimilar) under attended and unattended conditions. For the unattended condition, the
participant fixate on a cross and then 2 surfaces appear (green and red) moving in different
directions for 2 seconds and they ignore the directional

  • 2. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) People generally appreciate the sight of a clean desk, or a good system to keep files tabbed and organized in a given space. Of course, there are those who believe they work more efficiently in a cluttered area, or claim to remember where an object was placed but now cannot seem to find it. However, once organization, daily rituals , or the unbearable urge to adjust something comes into play, Psychologydescribes this as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or also referred to as Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). The mental strains inside a person with OCD or OCPD can become psychologically dangerous for relationships or quality of life for that person if the disorder gets out of hand. Individuals with OCPD attempt to maintain... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The definition of a key caregiver was a non professional person in the community who is most involved with the everyday care of the case, and would be very likely to respond to any request for special assistance at any time, if such a request was made by the case (Falloon, Graham Hole and Woodroffe, p.384, 1993). When more than one person was involved in caring activities, the individual most closely related was chosen. Only one eligible patient declined to have his carers interviewed and all caregivers agreed to participate, the response rate was 98%. As the outcome of the study, of the forty six participants serving as the OCD patients of the study, the strict livelihood observed by the caregiver was 3.3%. • 4. Essay The Color Purple The Color Purple by Alice Walker is a very controversial novel, which many people found to be very offensive. It is basically the struggle for one woman s independence. The main character in The Color Purple is Celie a coloured woman with little or no education at all. She is one who has been used and abused by all the men in her life, and because of these men, she has very little courage or ambition in her life. She has so little courage, that all she wants to do is just survive. Through the various women she meets throughout here life like: Shug, her sister, and Harpo s wife, she learns how to enjoy herself, gain courage and happiness. I found this real important as it showed Celie she can enjoy herself and there is more to her then just being a slave to Mister. Another important woman in Celie s life was Harpo s wife Sofia. Sofia wasn t as important to Celie as Shug Avery or her sister Nettie, but it was Sofia s actions that I believe helped inspire Celie. For when Harpo tried to beat Sofia, thanks to Celie s advice to Harpo to beat his wife, Sofia would always fight back. Not only emotionally but physically as well, for one day when Celie was going to Harpo s house she saw Harpo and Sofia fighting like twos mens (P. 44). And I think Celie was really shocked when Sofia confronted her on why Celie told Harpo to beat Sofia. I say it cause I m a fool, I say it cause I m jealous of you. I say it cause you do what I can t. • 6. Why Is Woolf Important In A Room Of One s Own Woolf: A room of One s Own Virginia Woolf s passage in A Room of One s Own does a nice job showing how word choice and splashes of imagery can take an opinion from just a statement to something that can be visualized and impactful to others. By using good word choice and imagery, Woolf was able to show the emotional, physical, and mental toll others had on creative women. Before the war, at a luncheon party like this, people would have said precisely the same things but they would have would sounded different, because in those days they were accompanied by sort of humming noise, not articulate, but musical, exciting, which changed the value of the words themselves. (Woolf, 344). She is saying that before the war, dialect communication was a form of poetry because it sounded like a rhythmic flow of words that strengthened the mind. This reveals that people lived in romantic ideology and in an illusion where everything was simple and beautiful. Therefore, the quote that I did mentioned is important because it illustrates the communication in the delusional English culture and how communication evolved into a coarser for after the war. • 9. Issues and Debate of Anthropogenic Climate Change In the last few decades, the issue of anthropogenic climate change (ACC) human caused climate change has come to the forefront of public, political, and scientific awareness. There has been much debate regarding the legitimacy of ACC, despite an article from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration stating: Ninety seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities, and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. With this in mind, it is important to examine the rationale behind this seemingly unfounded opposition to ACC. Organized Climate Change Denial by Dunlap and McCright (2011) introduces this rationale and gives a face to this denial. They present the idea of a denial machine . This machine is made of various different actors including conservative media, fossil fuel industries, and various front groups these will be discussed in greater detail within the paper. Essentially, the motivations of the various cogs (actors) vary from economic to ideological to personal, yet overall they rally around shared opposition to governmental regulatory efforts to ameliorate climate change, such as restrictions to carbon emissions. (source) A large factor in governmental regulatory efforts is public opinion and, not coincidentally, there were significant declines in public belief of global warming in 2009 and 2010. First published in the 1970 s this remains a useful concept as it differentiates between the unavoidable irreversible primary injury and the potentially avoidable secondary one (Adams 1977). Primary brain injury occurs immediately at the time of injury, whereas secondary injury is a cascade of events that contributes to intracranial hypertension resulting in a reduction in cerebral perfusion pressure and ischaemia (Marmarou 1991). The cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) is determined by the Monro Kellie hypothesis. In closed head injuries, the skull has a fixed volume and the pressure within it is determined by the equilibrium between the CPP, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and the intracranial pressure (ICP) using the equation: CPP = MAP в€’ ICP Therefore, assuming a constant blood pressure, as ICP rises CPP must fall. Minimising the ICP, should minimise ischaemia and brain damage resulting from localised pressure thus leading to a global increase in perfusion and therefore oxygen delivery to the brain. There is class I evidence that cooling to a mild hypothermic state of ≤35oC reduces intracranial hypertension by limiting cerebral oedema. In addition it is thought that moderate hypothermia of 33oC ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Haptics is the study of touch and the use of it. Research states that women are more likely to touch more than men. Also, they associate touch with warmth and expression. Women are touched more gently than men are. Men are touched more harshly and they use their touch to direct, assert power, and to express sexual interest . Kinesics is the study of body movements, meaning gestures, facial expression, and posture. Now this is one of the nonverbal categories that are very much misinterpreted. • 15. The Biblical Subtext in Samuel Beckett’s Waiting For Godot... Samuel Beckett may have renounced the use of Christian motifs in Waiting for Godot, but looking at the character of Lucky proves otherwise. We can see Lucky as a representative figure of Christ as his actions in the play carry a sort of criticism of Christianity. His role suggests that the advantages of Christianity have declined to the point where they no longer help humanity at all. If you analyze the poem Waiting for Godotyou can see the huge parallels between the character of Luckyand Jesus. Lucky, bound with a rope, is the disgraced prisoner, very similar to the story of Jesus as the prisoner of the Romans after Judas turned him in. Lucky slowly chokes as the rope cuts into his neck just as crucifixion suffocated Jesus until he was dead. Pozzo, rephrasing Estragon s question, then asks a emblematic question concerning Lucky, he asks Why he doesn t make himself comfortable? . This question refers specifically to the taunting spectators gave to Jesus, telling him to save himself and if he is the son of God to get himself off the cross, this also refers generally to Christ s mission of suffering on earth to forgive us of our sins. Pozzo tells them that Lucky doesn t want to let go of the luggage because He wants to mollify me, so that I will give up the idea of parting with him . He also says that Lucky imagines that when I see how well he carries I ll be tempted to keep him on in that capacity . This is extremely similar to the way that Jesus believed that he had to carry out his burden of crucifixion to awaken humanity s faith in God for time to come. Jesus directed his apostles to make disciples of all nations and to teach them to carry out everything I have commanded you. And always know that I am with you (Matthew 28:18 20). Jesus wanted us as humans to act in his own memory, or to keep himself on in that capacity, which was that of teacher, consoler, and in the end deliverer of salvation. • 16. Human Papillomavirus And Its Effects On Female Health Human papillomavirus, otherwise known as HPV, is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in North America (Dell et al. 2000; Gross 2014). Awareness of human papillomavirus is rather low and is often overshadowed by infections with much more noticeable symptoms such as gonorrhea and syphilis. The disease is usually associated with women due to its association with cervical cancer (Dell et al. 2000), and men are often overlooked. However, males are at risk just as much as females. There is plenty of evidence showing that human papillomavirushas detrimental effects to male health, yet females are usually the ones tested for the disease and are vaccinated. With today s advancements in medicine, vaccinations should be administered to everyone to vastly reduce the prevalence of human papillomavirus, yet it is the most common STI. If males were vaccinated as much as females, highly preventable effects of human papillomavirus would diminish amongst the world population. Worldwide governments and public health agencies should fund HPV vaccination for males as well as females. Before any talks of vaccination, the prevalence of HPV in males had to be determined. It turns out, HPV prevalence in men was very common. First of all, it was found that the peak of HPV infection was found in the male age group of 20 24 years of age. (Gross 2014). This was due to higher rates of first sexual contact and increased sexual activity in that age group. It was also found that HPV ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After failing to receive a contribution from the Province of Canada to a major railway from Halifax to Quebec (Intercolonial Railway), the three Maritimes colonies had organized the Conference in order to achieve a union between the three of them, helping the colonies to receive more political power as well as overseas investments. In fear of the United States taking over the northern half on the continent, there needed to be change in the colonies. When word spread of a conference being held in Charlottetown, the Canadian politicians took the opportunity, sending a delegation that had not been invited but was welcomed nonetheless. After the Canadians arrived to the Conference and shared their ideas, the other attendees needed some time to think. This story centers around the hilarious and amusing daydreams of Walter Mitty an ordinary man, who resides in Waterbury, Connecticut, with his overbearing, nagging wife Mrs. Mitty. Throughout this short story Mitty is characterized as being a pathetic, timid man, who daydreams to deal with situations, and conflicts that arise in his life with his wife and others he encounters on a daily basis. Third daydream, Mitty daydreams that he is a witness in a courtroom trial, walking down the street trying to remember the other item his wife instructed him to buy. The fourth and final daydream Mitty thinks he s a captain in a war plane, he was awakened by his wife, Mrs. Mitty in a hotel lobby and confronted about not wearing his overshoes, and why he hiding in that particular chair, Mitty replies to his wife that does it ever occur to her that he is thinking. (Clugston, 2010). Mitty is saying to his wife, he has a mind of his own and that he can think for himself. Throughout Mitty s babblings and day dreams, he is a weak, timid man dependent on a strong woman (Mann, 1982). Most importantly I can identify with Mitty s daydreaming not as hilarious and outrageous as his are, but we all have a need to slip away from the hoarse realities of life and escapism in the form of daydreaming. • 32. The Role Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh Throughout history, there have been varying views toward women in society. Many of these views are immortalized in the stories and legends that have been documented in history. Two of these stories, Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, show the attitudes of society towards women during those times. In Gilgamesh, women are commonly portrayed as manipulative and immoral, which is demonstrated not only by the human women, but also by the gods. In The Odyssey, however, this mold is broken by Penelope, Ulysses wife, and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Although there are several women in the story who are similar in nature to characters in Gilgamesh, the overall view is a much more positive one towards women. The Epic of Gilgamesh is thought to be the earliest piece of literature that has been discovered and preserved. This poem, therefore, lends great insight into the views of Mesopotamian society towards women. Throughout the story, the women are shown to be immoral and manipulative by the actions of Shamhat, a prostitute, and Ishtar, a scorned goddess. Shamhat s role in the story is brief, but it lends understanding into what a woman s role was considered to be in Mesopotamia. She was not ashamed to take him, she made herself naked and welcomed his eagerness (Gilgamesh, Par. 11). Shamhat s actions demonstrate a licentious and immoral representation of women. She is known to be a prostitute and is responsible ultimately for the downfall of Enkidu. Without her temptation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The incorporation of justice in this process is equally essential it entails that all parties allowed to give their views before decision are made concerning a given matter. Some theories state that restorative and distributive justice might not be met but for as long as there is a fair and justice procedure, there is always the possibility of having outcomes that are equitable (Jason Tyler, 2003). • 37. Summary Cost of Capital The Cost of Capital 1 Background As investors desire to obtain the best/highest return on their investments in securities such as shares (Equity) and loans to companies such as debentures (Debt), these returns are costs to the companies paying these Dividends (on equity) and Interest (on Debts)! It all depends on the perspective from which we chose to view the calculation (are we Earning or Paying?) Companies MUST consider the cost of financing they receive in the form of equity or debt if they are to manage their finances better; cheaper finance cost to the company means higher profitability and in most cases, superior cash flow. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Conclusion In this study, a polymer inclusion membrane was prepared and succevally applied for the removal of citric acid from synthetic wastewater. The mixture of CTA and CA was found to be the optimum base polymer for quantitative transport of citric acid. Moreover, the nature of carrier especially alkyl chain length, stirring rate, and pH of feed phase are also important factors affecting the increased rate of citric acid transport. Hence, from results obtained it can be seen that the investigated calix[4]resorcinarene are effective extractants for citric acid and that their extraction abilities depend on the alkyl chain length of the substituent in the macrocycle. Choosing the appropriate length of alkyl chain, very selective system can be designed. The excellent efficiency for the citric acid transport by the proposed PIM system reveals its potential application for the selective removal, concentration and purification of citric acid from different media. A survey of low to middle income households showed that 89% of respondents were either very concerned or quite concerned about broadening the GST base (NSW Council of Social Service 2015, p. 39). This urban renaissance is also called The City of Future by the author who also affords to provide living for millions of aspiring immigrants. Another study by Curran and Benton shows that as the speed of the distractor increases, there is an increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Curran and Benton concluded that the reduction in magnitude of higher distractor speeds are due to at least 2 factors; reduced apparent contrast of high speed distractors, and whether distractor and target motions are accessed by the same or different global motion channels. Therefore, there is a linear relationship between the distractor speed and target motion in slow speeds. This suggest that as the speed difference between the two surfaces increases, there would be an increase in the magnitude of motion repulsion. Our method for investigating the effects of motion direction in conjunction with speed on motion repulsion includes measuring seeped at 5 to 7 different rates and measuring motion with 2 conditions (similar vs. dissimilar) under attended and unattended conditions. For the unattended condition, the participant fixate on a cross and then 2 surfaces appear (green and red) moving in different directions for 2 seconds and they ignore the directional ...
