Personal Statement On Health And Fitness
Health and fitness has always been a big part of my life even without knowing it, but the
transition changed from sport and athletics to the gym and trying to achieve what I thought was
expected of me socially. After a year of lagging progress and nearly giving up I decided to give it
one more shot I just needed to go after it a different way. I needed to educate myself on the
process I was going to undergo to achieve my goals. So I turned to the internet, more specifically
Youtube, it became my saving grace, unbeknownst to me at the time there was a large fitness
community waiting for me behind my Youtube search bar, ready to provide anyone who looks with
large amounts of information on Fitness and training, healthy eating and dieting and a major source
of positive motivation to help get anyone started.
We know most of the facts and usually say that we will take the leap into being healthy in the new
year, new year new me right? But don t put off till tomorrow what you can do today, because when
it comes down to it you re only missing out on some of life s better outcomes. Training has proven
to help with weight issues, combats health conditions and fight diseases, improve mood, increase
energy and it also promotes better sleep so with all these positives why not trade in a little time to
gain all of these benefits?
The biggest problem that I ve found is that many people are getting better at finding excuses not to
go, than to go which is increasing the sedentary

Vignette In The House On Mango Street
Growing up as a child could be looked at as a bumpy road. Average kid has everything they need;
food, shelter, and of course water. Whether it is the nicest of places, or the greatest neighborhood,
with the greatest food, now that s a different story. Here, The House on Mango Street takes short
stories called vignettes, all of which are told from the perspective of a thirteen year old girl named
Esperanza. As the story goes on, I notice how naГЇve Esperanza is. She definitely does not
understand the concepts going on around her. But as she gets older, I believe she will realize that
she wants better for herself, and whatever her future may bring. The very first vignette, Esperanza
is explaining the house she is moving into and also the house she use to live in. She described her
old house as, Small, with red tight steps, and windows that are so small you d think they... Show

She also says she can t be her sisters friend. She states that, They have got a lot to say to me and
Nenny inside the house. But outside of the house they cannot be seen talking to girls (Cisneros
8). Esperanza also goes on to say, Nenny is too young to be my friend. She is just my sister and
that was not my fault (Cisneros 8). In my opinion, I think she wants to be her sisters friend, not
just someone she has to look after. Esperanza even says, Someday I will have a best friend. One I
can share all my secrets to (Cisneros 9). Throughout this vignette I got a sense that there was a
reputation that the guys wanted to keep. They did not want to be seen with their sisters, and the
only time they spoke was when they were home. Even then, I got the sense that the brothers
picked on Esperanza and Nenny. I know that Esperanza is not allowed to friends with her sister
because she is younger. I could be because it looks lame. As if Oh hey, her best friend is her little
sister, how

Anthony Wear And Tear Theory
Anthony explained that he was diagnosed with hypertension at 46 years old. The chance of
having hypertension increases the older you become. (National Institute of Aging 2015). There
are other causes that would have contributed to Anthony s diagnosis but his age would have been
a factor. The normal healthy blood pressure for adults is 120/80. Anthony s last blood pressure
was 130/80. This isn t too bad and shows that the medication and lifestyle choices Anthony has
been making are making a difference. Anthony also has osteoarthritis. Age is believed to be linked
to osteoarthritis. There are many theories as to why, such as wear and tear theory and many more.
(Li et.al 2013, p.1). The wear and tear theory defines itself in its name. Injury

Argumentative Essay On Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana Legalization
35 million Americans use marijuana on a monthly basis, while at least 78 million Americans use at
some point, according to a survey by Yahoo News/Marist College (Kate); however, marijuana is an
illegal drug in most of The United States. Marijuana has been outlawed, and the potential benefits of
legalization outweigh the detriments of criminalization. Marijuana can be decriminalized by
affecting the general consensus of the public through social media and removing cannabis from
Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act.
There are many benefits of decriminalizing marijuana, from the ability to tax to the overall fixing
of a historical problem; however, there is much more the illegality of marijuana imposes. The idea
of marijuana being legalized resulting in increased drug usage rates is a fallacy. Marijuana
legalization will not necessarily skyrocket the rate of which Americans use marijuana: the
observed usage rate in America is 11%, while Norway, a country where the drug is legalized, has an
observed rate of 7% ( Marijuana Legalization Leads to a Reduction in Crime ). This information is
pertinent because it nullifies the notion of increased drug use in America as a consequence of
legalization; the common user of marijuana will continue usage independent of the legality.
Marijuana criminalization aids in linking illegal activities to drugs, raising the participation in the
illegal activities. Violence, prostitution, and gambling are associated with

Summary Of Saboteur By Ha Jin
Ha Jin s short story Saboteur tells of a man who seems discontent, idealistic, and gravely ill. In
Muji, Mr. Chui, is accused of sabotage and taken by force to jail after a run in with railroad
authorities. His crime is for speaking out against police officers assaulting him and his bride during
lunch in the city square. The reader is lead to believe this is a simple case of excessive force by the
police, therefore the abuse of power is the catalyst of this short story, but the real story is about Mr.
Chui s contempt for all those around him and his utter lack of integrity.
Mr. Chui is thirty four, a lecturer at Harbin University, is gaunt, pale, and still recuperating from
hepatitis. His bride, a pale girl who wears glasses, is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the railroad police station, he is interrogated for hours by the bureau chief, who demands a
confession. Professing his innocence, he is defiant about not signing a letter of self criticism. Your
police station owes me an apology (Jin). Feeling sick, his hepatitis flairs under the stress, but he is
left imprisoned until Monday when the chief returns.
Monday morning his bride sends a former student of Mr. Chui, Fenji, a lawyer from a small firm
of two attorneys to get him out of jail. The young man confronts and insults the chief, who sends
him to the yard in the heat to learn some manners. Mr. Chui sees Fenji from his window and feels
nauseous Poor devil, he thought, as he raised a bowl of corn glue to his mouth (Jin). He realizes
he has to sign the confession to get them out of jail. After signing, Mr. Chui is so sick he can
barely walk (Jin), if he were able to he would razed the entire police station and eliminated all
their families (Jin). Once outside, Mr. Chui and Fenji, begin to walk around the station stopping at
several restaurants to eat and drink small amounts of food. Fenji watch his teacher mutter to
himself and and for the first time Fenji thought of Mr. Chui as an ugly man. (Jin). Muji City, a
month later, has an outbreak of hepatitis. A man of honor would not endanger others as he has. In
conclusion, his contempt is not a grand cause for the good of others it is how he feels about
everything. His bride, his

The Use Of Bioactive Restorative Materials With A...
Extensive research has been taking place in generating bioactive restorative materials with a
potential for remineralization. [1] Bioactivity refers to apatite forming ability [2] while
biomineralization is the ability to get anchored to the underlying dentin by the formation of a
mineral rich interfacial layer and a tag like structure extending from the interfacial layer to the
dentinal tubules. [3] Biodentine TM (BD) (Septodont, Saint Maur des FossО№s, Creteil, France)
and TheraCal LC TM (Bisco Inc, Schamburg, IL, USA) are calcium silicate based bioactive liners
that are proposed as alternatives to glass ionomers (GIs).
The use of bioactive liners beneath resin composite (RC) would clinically be more advantageous
than using GI liners as they are biologically well tolerated by the pulp tissue [4] and have
comparatively higher remineralizing ability. [5] The success of these laminate restorations depend
not only on the bond strength of the liner to the dentin but also on the quality of bond between
liner and overlying RC. Various studies suggest the application of resin modified glass ionomer
cement (RMGIC) instead of GI in the sandwich technique because of improved bond strength to
RC due to its chemical bonding. [6],[7] The bond strength of RMGIC to RC varies depending on
the type of adhesive used and it has been proved that self etch is better than total etch. [8]
Biodentine TM (BD) is recently being used as a dentin replacement material under composite
restorations.

Gender, Sexual Orientation And Education
In today s society, there are divides that impede the movement of progress. These divides may
disperse around a number of issues that revolve around gender, religion, sexual orientation and
education. These divides have created an un opened minded society that judge people and groups
based on the prejudices and stereotypes that treat them differently. In the aspect of identity
discrimination, American society plays a big role in keeping those that are different isolated from
the rest of the world. Today s society suffers huge from a spectrum that focuses power on
discrimination. In this spectrum, transgenderindividuals are perceived as people that are most

Now one might say transgendered individuals get more special treatment than any other citizen,
there are some cases that support one s theory, and there s the cases that support transgendered
people being dehumanized because of who they are. Discrimination in the workplace is one of the
many places that transgendered individuals become a victim to a hate crime because of their sexual
orientation. Many transgenders get terminated because of their gender identity or planned
transition because ones not comfortable with their lifestyle or it s a sin to change the gender one
was born with. Becoming a terminated employee because of how one present themselves to

the quality of the work that s being done inside on the job. Society is saying gender identity is a

The Effect Of Gibberellic Acid On The Germination Of Seeds
The Effect of Gibberellic Acid on the Germination of Seeds Authors Bijin Johnson, Veronica
Razon, Harmony Juanta, Charlee Parr and Cathleen Castro. Introduction In this practical, six bags
containing twelve histrix cactus seeds each were taken and another six bags containing twelve
rocket salad seeds in each bag. Each bag was experimented with different concentrations of
gibberellic acid to see how fast each would grow. Gibberellic Acid is an organic molecule whose
chemical formula is C₁₉H₂₂O₆. This chemical was found as a by product of the
fungus Gibberella fujikuroi (John M Riley, 1997). This acid was developed later and now,
synthetic versions of it are available commercially. This Hormone is responsible for growth and
development in the plant. Therefore, small concentrations of this plant can help a plant grow
faster but too large concentrations can have the opposite effect (Triplantanol, 2011). This
chemical comes in the form of a yellowish powder that is dissolved in water and given to the
plant (Wikipedia, 2015). Variables Independent Variable: The amount of Gibberellic Acid in each
bag. Dependent Variable: The number of seeds germinated each day. Variables Held Constant: The
length of time the bags were observed, number of trials done for each concentration and
temperature and the amount of heat and light the plants were exposed to. Hypothesis If the
concentration of Gibberellic Acid increase, the number of seeds germinated per day will increase.

Jc Penny s New Image Summary
In the article JC Penny s New Image: Why the Re Branding Will be Successful, the author
focuses on how JC Penny is changing it s way of marketing. Former Apple employee Ron
Johnson, became the CEO of JC Penny, and had many ideas for how to rebrand the company. He
changed the way JC Penny promotes products, simplified the pricing, the presentation of the
company, the retail setting, and the personality of the store. Johnson reduced the number of
promotions a year from over 590 to 12. In addition, Johnson created a 3 tier pricing system. In this
system, the first tier is the everyday low price, the second tier is month long sale items, and the
third tier is the best price discount, which occurs on every first and third Friday of the month....

Also, the presentation will be minimalistic, using focused and simplified images and accented
colors in photographs to put the emphasis on the products. The retail setting, or the store itself,
had a makeover as well. The layout and organization changed. The services and now at the center
and the products are at the perimeter of a store, as well as the products being put into shops with
certain brand names in each shop . The personality will change, mostly because of the new
framed logo. With all of these changes, the quality will stay the same, if not even better, and
there will be an increase of over 100 new brands into the store. These changes are crucial to JC
Penny to keep the store in business. I have learned that if you do not change your business with
the times or fads, people will lose interest and you will slowly start to lose customers and money,
and eventually your whole business. Also, with the right changes, your business can last for a
long time and stay popular. Examples of this are Facebook, JC Penny, and Apple. This has also
taught a great lesson; to not be afraid of change. Changes can be good and helpful to you as a

5 Different Types of Dental Cements
There are five different types of cement in the dental field each is versatile in their properties,
uses, and mixing techniques. Many were traditionally used for routine cementation through the
nineteen ninety s and since have been replaced by newer makeup and mixing techniques. The
selection of cement for a specific procedure requires knowledge of the chemical and physical
properties of each particular cement for the specific restorative process to be performed. This first
cement I m going to discuss is Glass Ionomer Cement. Glass ionomer cement is one of the most
versatile types of cement in the dental field. This is a hybrid type of silicate and polycarboxylate

It was originally polyacrylic acid and has changed over to polyalkenoate cement. This had been
used for permanent cement for cast restorations, stainless steel crowns, and orthodontic bands.
This maintains its versatility as a nonirritating base under composite and amalgam restorations
and intermediate restoration. The chemical makeup for polycarboxylate cement comes in a
liquid made up of polyacrylic acid, itaconic acid, maleic acid, tartaric acid and water, while the
powder is made up of zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, aluminum oxide, and different reinforcing
fillers. When mixed accordingly, it is similar to zinc phosphate cement in terms of solubility and
tensile strength. The pH increases rapidly as the material sets, and 24 hours later, it causes it to
become similar to zinc phosphate, but is less irritating to the pulp. It is supplied in a squeeze

It is a tempestuous and perilous time in the Roman Empire. Nowhere more so than in the Roman

decades of violent resistance have tightened the iron grip of the Roman governor, Pontus Pilate.
Myriad messiahs have endeavored to free the Jewish people from the yoke of Roman oppression.
All have failed. Into the powder keg rides Yeshua of Nazareth, known today as JesusChrist.

His book reads like a novel. A graceful, entertaining narrative designed to present the public with a
simplified picture of ancient Palestine and early Christianity. The book does not even look like an
academic work of historical analysis. Zealot is absent of footnotes, settling for an extended
notes section towards the end of the book. In the text, he picks his sources with a selective bias.
When proving his point, Aslan pulls one quote from the gospels as evidence, but neglects
legitimate sources that conflict with or repudiate his argument. This is exampled in Aslan s
analysis of the kingdom of God. He argues that Jesus s kingdom of God calls for violent action
against any who don t support it. To verify this, he refers to the especially violent Parable of the
Great Supper in Matthew 22.2: The Kingdom of God in Jesus s teachings...is at once the joyous
wedding feast within the king s royal hall, and the blood soaked streets outside its walls. (124)

chemotherapy, Post remission chemotherapy and Consolidation chemotherapy.Alone a
chemotherapy is not that much effective so a Stem cell transplantation or a Bone marrow
Transplantation is recommended (only if the patients is able to tolerate a transplantation) in most of
the times. Allogeneic (ALLO) stem cell transplantation (i.e. using donated stem cell)is done in case
of patients suffering from AML[17]. This induction chemotherapyis given with (except in case of
M3 subtype of AML) cytarabine (ara C) and an anthracycline [18]. The induction Chemotherapy
routine is also denoted by 7+3 because the cytarabine is given to the patients continuous IV
infusions for 7 days consecutively and as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For older people aging over 60 years with relapsed AML who are unable to withstand high
dosages of chemotherapy, Gemtuzumab Ozogamicin (Mylotarg), a monoclonal antibody linked
cytotoxic agent is being used as a replacement[21] but the drug was withdrawn from the market
by its manufacturer, Pfizer in the year of 2010[22]. US FDA approved Arsenic trioxide for the
treatment of relapsed APL and this compound is specific to the M3 subtype of AML like ATRA
[23]. Another more recent advancement in the field of treatment of AML is Immunotherapy by
CAR T cell. The T cells in patients body is modified so that they could produce special receptors
on their surface which is known as chimeric antigen receptors (CARs). CARs are protein in nature
which detect a specific kind of antigen released by the tumor cell and destroy them. They are
generally produced in laboratory to expand rapidly and then after rapid growth they are infused in
the patient s body to kill the cancer cells and when present in the patient s body, they can also

White And Brown Dwarfs Essay
Astronomy Project
Questioning: What is a neutron star and how have scientists been able to research them?
What are the differences between white and brown dwarfs and why do we study them?
Are there multiple ways for a star to form or is there only one?
When the core of a massive star experiences a huge gravitational collapse, the end of its life only
starts another s. During this process, protons and electrons are packed together so tightly, that they
leave behind a neutron star. These stars and many others form in a variety of ways. In order for
the neutron star to form, neutron degeneracy must halt the collapse. Although this is true for
many stellar masses, those less than about 1.44 solar masses form white dwarfs when the
collapse is ceased by electron degeneracy. Despite the name, brown dwarfs are not very similar to
white dwarfs. Each form very differently, for a brown dwarf is considered a failed star to many
scientists. Brown dwarfs are both smaller than stars and larger than planets as large as those like
Jupiter. Therefore, the insufficient mass in the star is not able to ... Show more content on

Their name was chosen simply because, at the time, astronomers did not know what color these
objects would have. Although they are this large and have an even larger mass, their size is not
considered vast enough to become a star. Because of their insufficient mass, brown dwarfs have
an inability to produce the temperatures necessary to trigger the thermonuclear reactions that
power other stars. The first brown dwarf was not discovered until 1995, and are, according to
astronomy professor Ian S. McLean, formed along with stars by the contraction of gases and dust
in the interstellar medium. Two types of brown dwarfs would include the classifications of T
Dwarfs and Y Dwarfs. Scientists are not sure what color Y Dwarfs are, but know that T Dwarfs
would appear reddish or magenta to the human

The Modern Human Resources Department
This article discusses the foundations of the modern human resources department and covers the
three historical periods of development to where modern human resources has evolved. There are
three main historical periods that are discussed including pre industrial, bureaucratic, and high
performance. All three of these periods have played a vital role in the field of Human Resources.
The pre industrial period ended with the revolutionary war. This time period saw a lack of human
resource managementdue to inequality, inflexibility and misalignment that would be unimaginable
today. Slavery and indentured servitude were common throughout the American colonies and the

This article is an interview with a single person Human Resource Manager and the purpose is to
highlight the relationship between a person s professional brand and what affect the position can
have on a person s whole life and the Human Resources has played in it. The article utilizes the
seven images of self identity theory from Alvesson (2010) and hopes to show how a person deals
with the stresses of career/life balance and how constant changes effect both. The author used this
structure to look at the interpretation of the subject s life through each of these seven images. The
author utilizes in depth interviews with the subject Betty, a 30 year old married human resources
professional with no children that works in the technology industry, to map the self identity of the
subject and how they struggle to find themselves both personally and professionally. The article
discusses the feelings that Betty experiences and the difficulties she has to establish her personal
and professional self and the challenges that exist as she continues to deal with the stresses and
self doubt associated with her professional life. The author also theorizes that Betty, as a part of
the working middle class, has certain ideals and looks to find a balance

Theme Of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
An Elegant Flop by Boyne John Boyne was born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1971 and studied Literature
at Trinity College, Dublin, and creative writing at the university of East Anglia, Norwich. He has
published nine novels for adults and four for a younger audience, all of which are actually
published in 47 different languages, including The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. The Boy in The
Striped Pyjamas follows the story of a nine year old boy named Bruno who reluctantly moves out
his comfortable home in Berlin to Out With because of his Father s job. After being rather bored
in his new dismal house, and given no answers by neither his parents nor servants, he is forced to
stay with his older sister who is a constant pain in the neck along with a rather brooding Lieutenant.
From his window Bruno has seen countless men and boys huddled by the barbed wire fence, scared
of something he just doesn t understand, and they were all wearing the same blue striped pyjamas.
After doing a little forbidden exploration, he meets a boy his age but not quite his size. Yet Shmuel
is not here to play with Bruno. John Boyne has demonstrated the theme of the innocence of
childhood in such a way that is rather interesting, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Crucial To Little Women And Treasure Island Analysis
Crucial to Little Women and Treasure Island is Amy March s and Jim Hawkins journey abroad
which also shows the characters trajectory from innocence to maturity. Certainly, both novels
belong to the sub genre of bildungsroman which is by definition, a story that depicts a journey
from childhood to maturity. In spite of their different goals and outcomes, it is possible to trace
some sort of parallelism between both journeys as they were indirectly intended to shape their
characters in line with the social norms of that time. First and foremost, in Little Women, Amy s
castle in the air was to be an artist, and go to Rome, and do fine pictures, and be the best artist in
the whole world (Alcott, 2008). In part two of Little Women, Amy travels abroad to Europe as a...

a long time and was depriving her from being a little woman. Furthermore, she also argues that
Amy s voyage has smoothened her nature and made her more agreeable and this is particularly
evident in her remark that Whenever I see girls struggling along, as we used to do, I want to put
out my hand and help them (Alcott, 2008). Indeed, by contrasting Amy s earlier selfishness with
her selflessness at the end of the novel, it is obvious that this journey was instrumental in Amy s
conversion into a little woman. Nonetheless, it has also indulged and emphasized her
conventionality as evident in her attack on Laurie in Lazy Laurence. However, in spite of the

A Republican Analysis
In the United States of America there is a plethora of extravagant political parties with which one
can associate. Obviously, due to the nature of the scholarship at hand, the reader of this written
work is a Republican. Is there any thought ever given to the immensity of the political spectrum?
There is left and right, up and down, libertarians, authoritarians, liberals, conservatives, socialists,
communists, neo libertarians, paleoconservatives, fascists, or one could be completely neutral.
Still, no matter how hard we try to avoid it, in the United Statesof America, one is always drawn to
one side, left or right, while little attention is ever given to the north or south poles of the spectrum.

The other says that all people, unless they are Indians or enslaved (generally blacks), are the

Possibly the largest irony of the entire situation has to be that we, the people of the United States
of America, wanted isolation from the European rule that was oppressing our citizens, rule
comprised of taxes and misrepresentation, if there was any representation at all, when the
constitution describes in section eight, The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect

escape the tyrannical oppression laid upon us by these taxes and unjustified usurpation of our
hard earned money, then it is enigmatically dumbfounding and inexcusable in all ways for our
government to confiscate that same money in the same fashion as the autocrat before them. It is
quite easy to become adrift in the cunning style of writing used in the constitution, but
impermissible for a federalist writer of that document to be able to properly bless it with the

of Independence revolve around the idea of the pursuit of happiness. Happiness of the people of a

Inchoate Crimes: A closer look at criminal attempt
The criminal justice system is continually looking for ways to take preventative measures to halt
crime before it happens however when faced with defining attempted crimes the courts have found
it difficult to determine when an action should be punished the same or lesser than a completed
crime. However, there are three types of inchoate crimes that can be punishable by law as these
crimes are the beginning steps of the crime. The three types of offenses include solicitation defined
as persuading or encouraging one to commit a crime, conspiracy which is the agreement to commit
crime and possibly act on agreement and attempt is the unsuccessful ... Show more content on

In addition, attempt has two different subcategories of attempt that are punishable by law.
Complete attempt also known as imperfect attempt is when the individual covers all steps to
commit crime but fails to follow through, an example of a complete attempt is if a shooter misses
his target in a drive by attempt. An incomplete attempt is if the individual is forced to abandon the
attempted crime due to reasons beyond one s control, an example of an incomplete attempt is if the
shooter had to abandon location because of known whereabouts by the police. Although, there is a
third type of attempt known as the impossible attempt in which the attempt could have been
completed had the scenario played out correctly such as if the shooter shot at the targets location
and target is not present however this attempt is not a defense in an attempt to commit a crime.
Impossible attempts otherwise known as factual impossibility cannot be used as a defense for
criminal attempt and is not recognized by the Moral Penal Code. Another type of impossibility is
inherent possibility in which the act could never be achieved. However, factual impossibility and
inherent impossibility should not be confused with legal impossibility. The term legal impossibility
refers to when an individual commits an act that they believe is illegal however the act is not

Agency Theory Essay
QUESTION 1 (i)
AGENCY COSTS IN DEBT CONTRACTING
The agency theory examines the relationship between the principle and agent under the assumption
that that individuals act in their own self interest in order to maximise their personal wealth. This
conflict of interest creates agency costs that are borne by the principle. The agency problem is
apparent in debt contacting relationships where the firm is assumed to be acting in the interests of
its shareholders when borrowing money from the debt holders. Agency costs are incurred by the
debt holder when a firm engages in opportunistic behaviours in an attempt to expropriate wealth
away from its debt holder. As a result, the debt holder faces an increased risk of lending the funds
to the firm. There are four common opportunistic actions that firm can take in order to expropriate
wealth from its debt holder
PAY EXCESSIVE DIVIDENDS
Black (as cited in Smith and Warner, 1979) states that there is no easier way for a company to
escape the burden of debt than to pay out all of its assets in the form of dividend, and leave the
creditors holding an empty shell . In this situation, the firm promises the debt holder to maintain a
consistent dividend policy at the time of borrowing funds but later increases the rate of dividends.
According to Smith and Warner (1979), the increase in dividend policy reduces the value of the
debt and ultimately, increases the risk to the debt holders. The firm is being opportunistic because

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Humanitarian Crisis In Europe
Just take a look at the humanitarian crisis in Europe with all the refugees coming in or the plight
of the Rohingya people and that should help put into perspective all the rhetoric in the US about
illegal immigrants. Refugees are flooding into Europe and hopefully the EU will pick up the
pace in finding a dignified solution to the problem. It shouldn t take horrific photos of drowned
children to stir action and make nations deal with refugees in a compassionate manner. It is not
acceptable to ignore these people or simply hope they go somewhere else. I d like to live in a world
with open borders and I d like to live in a nation that welcomes immigrants and refugees. People
who take long, dangerous journeys to escape persecution, poor living

Increase of Unemployment in the United Kingdom
A political issue that the United Kingdom is currently facing is the increase of unemployment
which is positively helping the economy, as a result. The number of citizens not working in the
UK decreased by 63,000 to 2.33 million in only three months to January 2014, according to
official figures. (BBC) This is clearly a significant current event in UK at the moment because
7.2% of their population is without a job. The unemployment rate in Scotland fell to 6.9%, in
Wales it was 6.7% while in Northern Ireland it was 7.5%. (BBC) Interestingly, I found that the
Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: Another significant fall in unemployment is a sign our
long term economic plan is working, providing security and chances for hard working people.
(BBC) In other words, the rising rate of unemployment is not necessarily a clear indicator of a
shattered economy. A large portion of the unemployed are self employed businessmen or
entrepreneurs working on their own ventures and have found new ways of producing a steady
income within the British economy. Ultimately, the economic history and politics of this nation
have been originated by Parliament and are the primary cause for the rapid growth in the business
market right now.
The United Kingdom was founded in 1707. This is a region which is united from three nations.
These nations are England, Wales, and Scotland. By the nineteenth century, there was speedy
economic change that heightened and secured

Essay about Drug Legalization
Drug Legalization
Strong drug enforcement in the United States is correlated with the reduction in crime , drug use,
and drug addiction growth rates. The impact on tougher drug sanctions has been overshadowed by a
myth that U.S. drug enforcement has become too lenient.
This myth has been promoted by the multi million dollar pro drug legalization lobby, civil
libertarians, and misguided academic researchers to the public with limited review and challenge.
Attacks on drug enforcement efforts often hold law enforcement to impossible and changing
performance standards. Law enforcement , treatment , and prevention complement each other.

Legalization may lessen the violence surrounding drug dealing , but the real problem is violence
resulting from drug use, and this must be addressed with strong law enforcement , substance abuse
treatment, prevention and a commitment to change.
Anyone who uses marijuana and thinks that quot;pot quot; is not harmful is fooling themselves.
The active ingredient THC , is addictive , and users can get just as addicted as they can with
nicotine ( cigarettes and chewing tobacco) or alcohol or cocaine.
Any tax revenue collected resulting from legalization would be minimal compared to the social cost
of addiction. Legalization would create even more clients for an already overburdened treatment
system, and at a much higher cost.
Treatment is only a part of the price that we pay, we will also be paying for the marijuana users
increased health problems, reduced productivity , injuries from auto accidents , and crime. The
overwhelming media impact on drug legalization is scary when you think of the impact on young
people. Marijuana is the most widely used illicit drug in the United States. The good news is that
marijuana use is down slightly according to some recent surveys. We must send messages to society
especially the teen age members that it is not all right to get quot; high quot;, getting high is not a
message that stresses healthy relaxation and coping with problems

Artifax).
What does it tell you about this particular civilization?
The Chamba drums tell me that music and dance in Africa was a significant part of their lifestyle
and played an important role in many momentous ceremonies. With knowledge about this artifact it
is easier to visualize what rituals resembled and what values and traditions their culture had.

The seated figure on top of the lid represents an idealistic portrait of the deceased and the python
is a symbol of death that surrounds everyone. Family members would put their hair and fingernail
trimmings in the vessel as a souvenir for the deceased. Since hair and nails grow throughout our
lives, these personal offerings empower the deceased to continue to grow and live in the afterlife,
(Ancient Artifax). The vessel is accompanied with food and palm wine as offerings to the

The Symbolism In The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar Allen Poe is known for the various literary devices he uses in his works. One of the most
famous devices he uses is symbolism. In many of his stories, including The Masque of the Red
Death, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Cask of Amontillado, Poe
uses symbolism to further develop each story by the messages he writes between the lines.
Symbolism is an important aspect of Poe s many works, seeing as how it allows the readers to
make connections within the stories. In The Cask of Amontillado, Poe represents symbolism through
the title of the short story, the outfit Fortunato wears, and the Montresor family motto and coat of
arms. Many would not look to a title of a piece of literature for symbolism. In The Cask of
Amontillado, Poe uses the key word cask as a huge symbol. The word cask refers to, a sturdy
cylindrical container for storing liquids, such as Amontillado, a fine wine, in this case (Lorcher).
Montresor introduces the topic of the wine to his former friend Fortunato by saying, My dear
Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking to day. But I have
received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts (Poe). Fortunato is
extremely intoxicated from carnival festivities prior to his conversation with Montresor, so it is
probable that his decision to go into the catacombs with Montresor is not for the benefit of
anyone but himself. He sees this journey with Montresor as a way to acquire one of two
possible outcomes free wine or a chance to further humiliate Montresor, especially after
Montresor suggests that Fortunato is not capable of distinguishing the Amontillado and mentions
the name of a rival, Luchresi (Lorcher). The symbolism in the key word of cask is that it has the
same root as the word casket. Poe s use of symbolism in this regard is often overlooked and
written off as mere coincidence, yet that is far from the truth. Fortunato s love of wine, and the
ignorant and easily influenced state the wine puts him in, leads him to make some of his most
destructive decisions to not only others, but also to himself. The Amontillado is a symbol of
Fortunato s downfall, or in other words, the love he has for the cask

Role Of Tuthmosis III In New Kingdom Egypt And Sargon Of...
Two of the fundamental roles that wealth can play with respect to war are (1) legitimizing
military leadership and social/military hierarchies and (2) motivating leaders to fight either for
plunder of for control of scarce resources. Both of these intertwined roles are evident in the
historical records of Tuthmosis III in New Kingdom Egypt and Sargon of Akkad, and wealth
motivated them both in similar ways. The Annals of Tuthmosis III explain that Tuthmosis directed
that records of each campaign, together with the booty which his majesty had brought from it, and
the tribute of every foreign land be inscribed in a temple to Amun. The public nature of this
inscription shows that it was strategically beneficial to Tuthmosis for the public to see the fruits of
his conquest; and the descriptions of his ornate chariot and armor show that people did not value
the loot simply because it was practically beneficial to them (their king s ornate armor was not), but
that they instead placed some other value on the opulence of their leader.... Show more content on

The Annals of Sargon identify dozens of conquests or submissions resulting in loot and tributes,
and the Annals discuss this bounty in far greater detail and with far greater specificity than they
discuss anything else about Sargon s exploits. The annals also make a point of emphasizing the
wealth, and by extension prestige, of those Sargon conquered; saying, for example, that Sargon
seized as booty the gold and silver and the numberless treasures of [Mattallu s] palace and carried
away his wife, his sons, his daughters, his money, his treasure, all precious things from his palace,
together with the inhabitants of his country as spoil. If Sargon s enemies were wealthy and
powerful, and he was able to defeat them, he must be even more powerful and deserving of respect
and submission, which was further evidenced by the leaders who paid tribute to

Population Growth In American Cities In The Late 19th Century
In the late 19th century, American cities exploded in population. This explosion was fueled by
population growth, technology in transportation, and industrialization. In 1870, there were only
two American cities with a population of more than 500,000, but by 1900, there were six. Three
of these New York, Chicago, and Philadelphia had over one million residents. Roughly 40 percent
of Americans lived in cities, and the number was increasing (Urbanization, 2015). The various
needs of the populated cities forced social and physical to the make up of the American city.
A rapid population growth in American cities was fueled by an influx of immigrants as well as
native born Americans migrating to the bigger cities. Mass immigration continued ... Show more

This gave jobs to shippers, merchants, and banks. The rise in factory labor workers in the towns
called for a rise in service professions such as bankers and merchants. With the rise of factory
workers and the rise of service professions, the population in these towns quickly increased. This
growth in the industry led to a rise in the economy within the cities and amongst the people. Just
as industrialization was transforming the cities, new technology was reshaping it. Taller
buildings became imaginable with the invention of elevators and construction using cast iron
supports and steel girders. In 1885, the first steel frame skyscraper, ten stories high, arose in
Chicago. New York s Woolworth Building soared to a height of 60 stories, in 1913. Taller
buildings were the cause of an increase in land values. In commerce, large department stores
developed in the 1860s and 1870s (Industrialization, n.d.). Department stores such as Sears and
Montgomery Ward replaced the mom and pop general stores. The modern stores, which stocked a
wide variety of competitively priced items, were cleverly located in shopping areas near trolley
stops for fast and convenient access. The growth in the industry led to the growth in the economy
for the cities in the late 19th

  • 3. Vignette In The House On Mango Street Growing up as a child could be looked at as a bumpy road. Average kid has everything they need; food, shelter, and of course water. Whether it is the nicest of places, or the greatest neighborhood, with the greatest food, now that s a different story. Here, The House on Mango Street takes short stories called vignettes, all of which are told from the perspective of a thirteen year old girl named Esperanza. As the story goes on, I notice how naГЇve Esperanza is. She definitely does not understand the concepts going on around her. But as she gets older, I believe she will realize that she wants better for herself, and whatever her future may bring. The very first vignette, Esperanza is explaining the house she is moving into and also the house she use to live in. In my opinion, I think she wants to be her sisters friend, not just someone she has to look after. Esperanza even says, Someday I will have a best friend. One I can share all my secrets to (Cisneros 9). Throughout this vignette I got a sense that there was a reputation that the guys wanted to keep. They did not want to be seen with their sisters, and the only time they spoke was when they were home. Even then, I got the sense that the brothers picked on Esperanza and Nenny. I know that Esperanza is not allowed to friends with her sister because she is younger. I could be because it looks lame. As if Oh hey, her best friend is her little sister, how ... • 5. Argumentative Essay On Marijuana Legalization Marijuana Legalization 35 million Americans use marijuana on a monthly basis, while at least 78 million Americans use at some point, according to a survey by Yahoo News/Marist College (Kate); however, marijuana is an illegal drug in most of The United States. Marijuana has been outlawed, and the potential benefits of legalization outweigh the detriments of criminalization. Marijuana can be decriminalized by affecting the general consensus of the public through social media and removing cannabis from Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. There are many benefits of decriminalizing marijuana, from the ability to tax to the overall fixing of a historical problem; however, there is much more the illegality of marijuana imposes. The idea of marijuana being legalized resulting in increased drug usage rates is a fallacy. Marijuana legalization will not necessarily skyrocket the rate of which Americans use marijuana: the observed usage rate in America is 11%, while Norway, a country where the drug is legalized, has an observed rate of 7% ( Marijuana Legalization Leads to a Reduction in Crime ). This information is pertinent because it nullifies the notion of increased drug use in America as a consequence of legalization; the common user of marijuana will continue usage independent of the legality. Marijuana criminalization aids in linking illegal activities to drugs, raising the participation in the illegal activities. Violence, prostitution, and gambling are associated with ... In Muji, Mr. Chui, is accused of sabotage and taken by force to jail after a run in with railroad authorities. His crime is for speaking out against police officers assaulting him and his bride during lunch in the city square. The reader is lead to believe this is a simple case of excessive force by the police, therefore the abuse of power is the catalyst of this short story, but the real story is about Mr. Chui s contempt for all those around him and his utter lack of integrity. • 7. The Use Of Bioactive Restorative Materials With A... Extensive research has been taking place in generating bioactive restorative materials with a potential for remineralization. [1] Bioactivity refers to apatite forming ability [2] while biomineralization is the ability to get anchored to the underlying dentin by the formation of a mineral rich interfacial layer and a tag like structure extending from the interfacial layer to the dentinal tubules. [3] Biodentine TM (BD) (Septodont, Saint Maur des FossО№s, Creteil, France) and TheraCal LC TM (Bisco Inc, Schamburg, IL, USA) are calcium silicate based bioactive liners that are proposed as alternatives to glass ionomers (GIs). The use of bioactive liners beneath resin composite (RC) would clinically be more advantageous than using GI liners as they are biologically well tolerated by the pulp tissue [4] and have comparatively higher remineralizing ability. [5] The success of these laminate restorations depend not only on the bond strength of the liner to the dentin but also on the quality of bond between liner and overlying RC. Various studies suggest the application of resin modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) instead of GI in the sandwich technique because of improved bond strength to RC due to its chemical bonding. [6],[7] The bond strength of RMGIC to RC varies depending on the type of adhesive used and it has been proved that self etch is better than total etch. [8] Biodentine TM (BD) is recently being used as a dentin replacement material under composite restorations. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Effect Of Gibberellic Acid On The Germination Of Seeds The Effect of Gibberellic Acid on the Germination of Seeds Authors Bijin Johnson, Veronica Razon, Harmony Juanta, Charlee Parr and Cathleen Castro. Introduction In this practical, six bags containing twelve histrix cactus seeds each were taken and another six bags containing twelve rocket salad seeds in each bag. Each bag was experimented with different concentrations of gibberellic acid to see how fast each would grow. Gibberellic Acid is an organic molecule whose chemical formula is C₁₉Hв‚‚в‚‚O₆. This chemical was found as a by product of the fungus Gibberella fujikuroi (John M Riley, 1997). This acid was developed later and now, synthetic versions of it are available commercially. This Hormone is responsible for growth and development in the plant. Therefore, small concentrations of this plant can help a plant grow faster but too large concentrations can have the opposite effect (Triplantanol, 2011). This chemical comes in the form of a yellowish powder that is dissolved in water and given to the plant (Wikipedia, 2015). Variables Independent Variable: The amount of Gibberellic Acid in each bag. Dependent Variable: The number of seeds germinated each day. Variables Held Constant: The length of time the bags were observed, number of trials done for each concentration and temperature and the amount of heat and light the plants were exposed to. Hypothesis If the concentration of Gibberellic Acid increase, the number of seeds germinated per day will increase. Method 12 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He changed the way JC Penny promotes products, simplified the pricing, the presentation of the company, the retail setting, and the personality of the store. Johnson reduced the number of promotions a year from over 590 to 12. In addition, Johnson created a 3 tier pricing system. When proving his point, Aslan pulls one quote from the gospels as evidence, but neglects legitimate sources that conflict with or repudiate his argument. This is exampled in Aslan s analysis of the kingdom of God. He argues that Jesus s kingdom of God calls for violent action against any who don t support it. To verify this, he refers to the especially violent Parable of the Great Supper in Matthew 22.2: The Kingdom of God in Jesus s teachings...is at once the joyous wedding feast within the king s royal hall, and the blood soaked streets outside its walls. (124) However, he fails to recognize the same parable in Luke, which does not possess the violent passages Mark has. Many Jesus scholars would have acknowledged this as Matthean redaction a popular belief of Jesus scholars that suggests Matthew edited certain parts of the Q gospel. As a scholar of Religions, Aslan must have known about Matthean redaction. Yet, he doesn t include it in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Allogeneic (ALLO) stem cell transplantation (i.e. using donated stem cell)is done in case of patients suffering from AML[17]. This induction chemotherapyis given with (except in case of M3 subtype of AML) cytarabine (ara C) and an anthracycline [18]. Another more recent advancement in the field of treatment of AML is Immunotherapy by CAR T cell. The T cells in patients body is modified so that they could produce special receptors on their surface which is known as chimeric antigen receptors (CARs). CARs are protein in nature which detect a specific kind of antigen released by the tumor cell and destroy them. • 21. White And Brown Dwarfs Essay Astronomy Project Questioning: What is a neutron star and how have scientists been able to research them? What are the differences between white and brown dwarfs and why do we study them? Are there multiple ways for a star to form or is there only one? When the core of a massive star experiences a huge gravitational collapse, the end of its life only starts another s. During this process, protons and electrons are packed together so tightly, that they leave behind a neutron star. These stars and many others form in a variety of ways. In order for the neutron star to form, neutron degeneracy must halt the collapse. Although this is true for many stellar masses, those less than about 1.44 solar masses form white dwarfs when the collapse is ceased by electron degeneracy. Despite the name, brown dwarfs are not very similar to white dwarfs. Each form very differently, for a brown dwarf is considered a failed star to many scientists. Brown dwarfs are both smaller than stars and larger than planets as large as those like Jupiter. Therefore, the insufficient mass in the star is not able to ... The first brown dwarf was not discovered until 1995, and are, according to astronomy professor Ian S. McLean, formed along with stars by the contraction of gases and dust in the interstellar medium. Certainly, both novels belong to the sub genre of bildungsroman which is by definition, a story that depicts a journey from childhood to maturity. In spite of their different goals and outcomes, it is possible to trace some sort of parallelism between both journeys as they were indirectly intended to shape their characters in line with the social norms of that time. • 38. Agency Theory Essay QUESTION 1 (i) AGENCY COSTS IN DEBT CONTRACTING The agency theory examines the relationship between the principle and agent under the assumption that that individuals act in their own self interest in order to maximise their personal wealth. This conflict of interest creates agency costs that are borne by the principle. The agency problem is apparent in debt contacting relationships where the firm is assumed to be acting in the interests of its shareholders when borrowing money from the debt holders. Agency costs are incurred by the debt holder when a firm engages in opportunistic behaviours in an attempt to expropriate wealth away from its debt holder. As a result, the debt holder faces an increased risk of lending the funds to the firm. There are four common opportunistic actions that firm can take in order to expropriate wealth from its debt holder PAY EXCESSIVE DIVIDENDS Black (as cited in Smith and Warner, 1979) states that there is no easier way for a company to escape the burden of debt than to pay out all of its assets in the form of dividend, and leave the creditors holding an empty shell . In this situation, the firm promises the debt holder to maintain a consistent dividend policy at the time of borrowing funds but later increases the rate of dividends. According to Smith and Warner (1979), the increase in dividend policy reduces the value of the debt and ultimately, increases the risk to the debt holders. • 40. Rhetorical Analysis Of The Humanitarian Crisis In Europe Just take a look at the humanitarian crisis in Europe with all the refugees coming in or the plight of the Rohingya people and that should help put into perspective all the rhetoric in the US about illegal immigrants. Refugees are flooding into Europe and hopefully the EU will pick up the pace in finding a dignified solution to the problem. It shouldn t take horrific photos of drowned children to stir action and make nations deal with refugees in a compassionate manner. It is not acceptable to ignore these people or simply hope they go somewhere else. I d like to live in a world with open borders and I d like to live in a nation that welcomes immigrants and refugees. People who take long, dangerous journeys to escape persecution, poor living ... • 41. Increase of Unemployment in the United Kingdom A political issue that the United Kingdom is currently facing is the increase of unemployment which is positively helping the economy, as a result. The number of citizens not working in the UK decreased by 63,000 to 2.33 million in only three months to January 2014, according to official figures. (BBC) This is clearly a significant current event in UK at the moment because 7.2% of their population is without a job. The unemployment rate in Scotland fell to 6.9%, in Wales it was 6.7% while in Northern Ireland it was 7.5%. (BBC) Interestingly, I found that the Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted: Another significant fall in unemployment is a sign our long term economic plan is working, providing security and chances for hard working people. (BBC) In other words, the rising rate of unemployment is not necessarily a clear indicator of a shattered economy. A large portion of the unemployed are self employed businessmen or entrepreneurs working on their own ventures and have found new ways of producing a steady income within the British economy. Ultimately, the economic history and politics of this nation have been originated by Parliament and are the primary cause for the rapid growth in the business market right now. The United Kingdom was founded in 1707. This is a region which is united from three nations. These nations are England, Wales, and Scotland. By the nineteenth century, there was speedy economic change that heightened and secured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Essay about Drug Legalization Drug Legalization Strong drug enforcement in the United States is correlated with the reduction in crime , drug use, and drug addiction growth rates. The impact on tougher drug sanctions has been overshadowed by a myth that U.S. drug enforcement has become too lenient. This myth has been promoted by the multi million dollar pro drug legalization lobby, civil libertarians, and misguided academic researchers to the public with limited review and challenge. Attacks on drug enforcement efforts often hold law enforcement to impossible and changing performance standards. Law enforcement , treatment , and prevention complement each other. None of the credit for the twelve year decline in drug use among our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Legalization may lessen the violence surrounding drug dealing , but the real problem is violence resulting from drug use, and this must be addressed with strong law enforcement , substance abuse treatment, prevention and a commitment to change. Anyone who uses marijuana and thinks that quot;pot quot; is not harmful is fooling themselves. The active ingredient THC , is addictive , and users can get just as addicted as they can with nicotine ( cigarettes and chewing tobacco) or alcohol or cocaine. Any tax revenue collected resulting from legalization would be minimal compared to the social cost of addiction. Legalization would create even more clients for an already overburdened treatment system, and at a much higher cost. Treatment is only a part of the price that we pay, we will also be paying for the marijuana users increased health problems, reduced productivity , injuries from auto accidents , and crime. The overwhelming media impact on drug legalization is scary when you think of the impact on young people. Marijuana is the most widely used illicit drug in the United States. The good news is that marijuana use is down slightly according to some recent surveys. We must send messages to society especially the teen age members that it is not all right to get quot; high quot;, getting high is not a message that stresses healthy relaxation and coping with problems ... • 44. The Symbolism In The Cask Of Amontillado By Edgar Allen Poe Edgar Allen Poe is known for the various literary devices he uses in his works. One of the most famous devices he uses is symbolism. In many of his stories, including The Masque of the Red Death, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Tell Tale Heart, and The Cask of Amontillado, Poe uses symbolism to further develop each story by the messages he writes between the lines. Symbolism is an important aspect of Poe s many works, seeing as how it allows the readers to make connections within the stories. In The Cask of Amontillado, Poe represents symbolism through the title of the short story, the outfit Fortunato wears, and the Montresor family motto and coat of arms. Many would not look to a title of a piece of literature for symbolism. In The Cask of Amontillado, Poe uses the key word cask as a huge symbol. The word cask refers to, a sturdy cylindrical container for storing liquids, such as Amontillado, a fine wine, in this case (Lorcher). Montresor introduces the topic of the wine to his former friend Fortunato by saying, My dear Fortunato, you are luckily met. How remarkably well you are looking to day. But I have received a pipe of what passes for Amontillado, and I have my doubts (Poe). Fortunato is extremely intoxicated from carnival festivities prior to his conversation with Montresor, so it is probable that his decision to go into the catacombs with Montresor is not for the benefit of anyone but himself. He sees this journey with Montresor as a way to acquire one of two possible outcomes free wine or a chance to further humiliate Montresor, especially after Montresor suggests that Fortunato is not capable of distinguishing the Amontillado and mentions the name of a rival, Luchresi (Lorcher). The symbolism in the key word of cask is that it has the same root as the word casket. Poe s use of symbolism in this regard is often overlooked and written off as mere coincidence, yet that is far from the truth. Fortunato s love of wine, and the ignorant and easily influenced state the wine puts him in, leads him to make some of his most destructive decisions to not only others, but also to himself. The Amontillado is a symbol of Fortunato s downfall, or in other words, the love he has for the cask ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Role Of Tuthmosis III In New Kingdom Egypt And Sargon Of... Two of the fundamental roles that wealth can play with respect to war are (1) legitimizing military leadership and social/military hierarchies and (2) motivating leaders to fight either for plunder of for control of scarce resources. Both of these intertwined roles are evident in the historical records of Tuthmosis III in New Kingdom Egypt and Sargon of Akkad, and wealth motivated them both in similar ways. The Annals of Tuthmosis III explain that Tuthmosis directed that records of each campaign, together with the booty which his majesty had brought from it, and the tribute of every foreign land be inscribed in a temple to Amun. The public nature of this inscription shows that it was strategically beneficial to Tuthmosis for the public to see the fruits of his conquest; and the descriptions of his ornate chariot and armor show that people did not value the loot simply because it was practically beneficial to them (their king s ornate armor was not), but that they instead placed some other value on the opulence of their leader.... The Annals of Sargon identify dozens of conquests or submissions resulting in loot and tributes, and the Annals discuss this bounty in far greater detail and with far greater specificity than they discuss anything else about Sargon s exploits. The annals also make a point of emphasizing the wealth, and by extension prestige, of those Sargon conquered; saying, for example, that Sargon seized as booty the gold and silver and the numberless treasures of [Mattallu s] palace and carried away his wife, his sons, his daughters, his money, his treasure, all precious things from his palace, together with the inhabitants of his country as spoil. If Sargon s enemies were wealthy and powerful, and he was able to defeat them, he must be even more powerful and deserving of respect and submission, which was further evidenced by the leaders who paid tribute to ... Roughly 40 percent of Americans lived in cities, and the number was increasing (Urbanization, 2015). The rise in factory labor workers in the towns called for a rise in service professions such as bankers and merchants. With the rise of factory workers and the rise of service professions, the population in these towns quickly increased. This growth in the industry led to a rise in the economy within the cities and amongst the people. Just as industrialization was transforming the cities, new technology was reshaping it. Taller buildings became imaginable with the invention of elevators and construction using cast iron supports and steel girders. In 1885, the first steel frame skyscraper, ten stories high, arose in Chicago. New York s Woolworth Building soared to a height of 60 stories, in 1913. Taller buildings were the cause of an increase in land values. In commerce, large department stores developed in the 1860s and 1870s (Industrialization, n.d.).
