Essay On The Topic Purpose Of Education Essay On The Topic Purpose Of Education
Theme Of Life Lies In Blanche Dubois
Dealing with the harsh truths of life can be tough for anyone to handle, which is why people tell
themselves lies. These lies are called life lies a falsehood used to rationalize the lifestyle people
are living or actions they have committed. Tennessee Williams and Henrik Ibsen investigate how
life lies can turn into delusions a state of mind or way of life when they are used to cope with the
stresses of everyday life. Williams protagonist, Blanche DuBois, was a former southern belle forced
to move in with her sister, Stella, after her husband s suicide and being evicted from Belle Reve,
her family home. To cope with these traumatic events, Blanche decided to recreate her character.
To do so, she lied to the people around about her sinful past because she wanted to appear to
them as the pure, southern belle she once was. As the lies piled up, she came to believe them as
truth, therefore, creating her delusion. Blanche only came to further and more deeply believe her
delusion as the play progressed. On the other hand, Ibsen s protagonist, Nora, had been taken
advantage of her whole life. She was merely a pawn of the two most important men in her life: her
father and husband. Unlike Blanche, Nora s delusion was innate she was taught these lies were the
truth from birth, whereas Blanche consciously created her delusions to protect her from past sins.
Through a series of realizations, Nora came to see the truth of the lieshe was living. Nora was a doll
confined to the walls and ways of Torvald, her husband s, doll house. Tennessee Williams, in A
Streetcar Named Desire, and Henrik Ibsen, in A Doll s House, employ life lies portrayed as
delusions as coping mechanisms; Ibsen explored how a new life and freedom can be gained from
a realization of one s delusion, while Williams explored how unwillingness to accept a delusion can
further trap and confine people.
Williams utilized the symbols of light and darkness to hide Blanche physically just as she used
lies to cover up and cope with her tainted past. Blanche avoided direct exposure to light because
she was afraid of exposing herself and, therefore, her past. She [couldn t] stand a naked lightbulb
in Stella s house because of the fear it would expose her

Examples Of Interview Questions About Juveniles
Interviewer:So, like I said, it s just to get your feedback on that. The first question is, do you
remember using it? Interviewee:Yes. Interviewer:What do you remember about it, if anything?
Interviewee:Just calling and one of the instances I remember calling on was a juvenile who had
taken her mother s vehicle without permission. We ended up finding the vehicle and the female
who was driving it, was reported to possible have the vehicle and so I called the juvenile center to
see if they would accept her. I remember distinctly, there was a conflict, initially they told me they
wouldn t, and then when I was talking back to the mother, the mother didn t want to take her at the
time. She was obviously upset, so I called them back... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interviewee:We do, usually during the summertime we do a lot, but since school has started
again. It s not very often, especially due to working late at night, but during the daytime, we
would run into juveniles a lot whether it was at shoplifting or at the schools and everything like
that. Interviewer:If you were to sit down with the Chief and he said, overall, what do you think
of this and should be pursue it or not? Interviewee:I think, in the bigger scheme of things, I think
it s a good program and its good because at the same time, I totally completely understand that we
can t take every single juvenile to the juvenile center because it would be overrun. Especially,
some of the kids that will shoplift or do something pretty minor and they are first time offenders
and that it and they never do it again. I just don t think it s appropriate to take every single kid to
the center. I think it is good to call and then they say, sorry can you just release them to a parent
or guardian. A lot of time the kids don t even do it again after we talk to them and they realize that
they don t want to go to juvenile center and they learned that time, so I think it s a good

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Schizophrenia And Illness Anxiety...
I would diagnose Mr Beaver with Schizophrenia and Illness Anxiety Disorder. At first I thought
that Mr Beaver had Somatic Symptom Disorder due to his constant worrying of brain numbness,
but as I looked deeper into his case I believe his symptoms match Illness Anxiety Disorder. I went
back and forth on which disorder he has or if he only had Schizophrenia. As I looked further into Mr
Beavers case I believe he has Schizophrenia and Illness Anxiety Disorder. The symptoms that are
present that support Schizophrenia include delusions, hallucinations, and negative symptoms. Mr
Beaver showed two types of delusions. The first type was Persecution. As he was leaving the
doctors he had told other patients that the doctors are out to get them, by saying not to trust the
doctors. He also said that the doctors must all be working together and that they were told not to
tell him what is wrong with him. Both of these symptoms are part of the Persecution Delusion.
Due to this feeling he began to isolate himself in his room due to the fact that it was a safe place
for him. The second delusion is Reference Delusion. It was mentioned that Justin Beaver felt that
the TV was talking to him specifically. Mr Beaver also showed two symptoms for hallucinations.
The first one was Auditory Hallucination. While listening to the radio, Justin Beaver would softly
hear his name being called. As he would go and check out where his name was being called from
he would experience a Olfactory Hallucination.

Poland s Revoked Voting Rights

POLS EU
April 18, 2016
Poland s Revoked Voting Rights in the European Union The end of the Second World War created
an era of peace for some countries, but for those under the control of the Soviet Union, life became
extremely difficult both socially and politically. Poland was under the direct authority of the USSR
and was subjugated to live with an authoritarian government, whom did not allow political
opposition and freedom. Decades passed until the USSR collapsed and even then Poland faced
rigged elections and remained under a regime that denied political change. The late twentieth
century spurred on opportunity for Poland when the first free election initiated an era of democracy
in politics and the promotion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This hazard came after the government of Poland had reorganized the voting requirements of the
Constitutional Court and altered the structure of the nation s media outlets. The majority ruling
party within Poland, the Law and Justice Party, also raised moral questions among other EU
member states by establishing new government appointed leaders to the public television and
broadcasting agencies. This new change in judicial processes and media control has led many
members of the European Union to question both the democracy and corruption within the Polish
government and to determine if the new policies have infringed on the EU s values and morals.
Therefore, these recent political fluctuations have lead me to ask what powers does the EU have to
influence a member countries media and court institutions, why has the EU become worried about
Poland, and in which ways will the EU attempt to sanction Poland for their alterations? This
research paper will elaborate on Poland s recent political changes. It will then analyze how Poland s
changes have raised controversy with the European Union and why the EU was concerned. Lastly,
the research will demonstrate which institutions in the EU have jurisdiction over such a conflict,
and how the European Union will attempt to nullify Poland s voting rights within the EU.

Marketing Of The Craft Beer Industry Essay
Five Major Trends
Rivalry in the craft beer industry is high and in addition to the excise tax and overall high
manufacturing cost have promoted mergers and acquisitions in order to consolidate and globalize
the industry. Anheuser Busch InBev merged with Belgium based Inbev as one of the major
transactions in 2008, forming Anheuser Busch InBev. Heineken (HEINY) another major brewer,
acquired the beer business of FEMSA in 2010. As in 2013, Anheuser Busch InBev one of the
market leaders acquired Grupo Modelo, Mexican brewer. In the following year 2014, Anheuser
Busch InBev reacquire Oriental Brewery, South Korea brewer. (Sharon Bailey) The acquisitions
combined their market share and currently owns 41.2 percent of the US market.(Statista)
Although sales of premium brands have fallen in a steady response to the growing popularity of
the craft beer. The industry revenue has been stable over the past 5 years. As a result, from 2011
to 2016 the industry revenue is expected an increase and growth annually at 6.7 percent over the
five years, with a total of $39.5 billion . (IBISWorld iExpert) In the long term, these numbers are
expected that grow 0.9 percent annually within the next five years. The potential growth will be
seen in the traditional and premium beer sector. As a response, the giant companies in the industry

Owen Meany Themes
IMPORTANT THEMES PRESENT IN THE NOVEL
There are numerous themes and motifs present in the novel, but in the following section, only three
primary themes will be stated this includes: Faith, Friendship, and Fate. One of the most recurring
themes throughout the novel is Faith in God. From the opening lines of the novel he is the reason I
believe in God; I am a Christian because of Owen Meany (Page 3), to the last sentence of the
novel O God please give him back! I shall keep asking You.(Page 627) . It is evident that faith has
influenced this novel in every possible way. Owen is the character in whom this theme is clearly
evident since he believes in the idea of there being a reason and explanation for everything. The

amalgamates both sorrow and humor to produce the perfect balance. I personally prefer not to
read lengthy novels spanning 600+ pages, so when I first began to read the novel I was
uninterested in the extensive details and descriptions, but as I progressed into the novel I began to
fall in love with the character Owen Meany and his persona, that I couldn t resist putting this
novel down. I found the novel to be life changing as it irrefutably reflects the perpetual axiom that
you don t have to be someone great in order to be an influence for others. After all, it is the minute

Is It Time To Break Up Google Summary
Is it time to break up Google?
Are you willing to let companies like google own most other tech company or social media
platforms if not you are then you disagree with Jonathan Taplin a professor of media that would
disagree with you completely. In is it time to break up google , Jonathan Taplin calls for the
regulation of monopolies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon because the more companies own the
more the companies become unable to be controlled by regulating agencies. Taplin makes multiple
claims throughout his articles like the safe harbor act, and turning companies like Google into a
utility or even just stripping them of all of the companies they own.

Ip Special Education
Another change in special education involves the inclusion and acceptance of students with
disabilities in public school settings. An essential aspect of integrating special education students
into public schools is the idea of Individualized Education Programs (IEP). If a child is enrolled in
a special educationprogram, it is mandatory that they be assigned an IEP. This legal document,
required by law, outlines the child s learningneeds, the services that will be provided for them, and
how their progress and achievement will be measured annually. The IEP lists the academic and
functional skills that the IEP team thinks your child can achieve by the end of the year. Annual
educational goals should help your child participate in the general education classroom (Stanberry).

Taking advantage of the technology provided for students with disabilities has benefitted them
greatly in the areas of personal learning and accomplishments. Before the Least Restrictive
Environment Act was enacted, qualifications and classifications of students with disabilities had
been significantly behind. After new changes, the social benefit it had on many students involved
in special education was very evident in their behavior and understanding of the material being
taught. The Least Restrictive Environment Act essentially establishes the rights for handicapped
children to be educated with their non disabled peers to the greatest extent appropriate. The
requirement in part was an impetus for previously self contained special education programs to be
integrated into the regular education schools and into the regular education classrooms (Nitsch).
This act has a prominent role in closing the gap between special education and general education
classrooms, to which we still follow

Negative Consequences Of Extracurricular Activities
Extracurricular activities have been around and impacted several lives for many years. An
activity allows people to express who they are and what they believe is right. Fifty seven percent
of children between 6 and 17 years old participate in at least one after school extra curricular
activity, according to a new report released today from the U.S. Census Bureau (Bureau).
Extracurricular activities are seen as a way to enhance learning, socialize with their peers, busy
work, or to keep someone from getting in trouble. Although to some people it appears that
extracurricular activities have several negative consequences, there are various positive benefits to
mental, emotional, social, and physical health. Some negative consequences... Show more content

This can cause frustration from the individual as well as others. Since some extracurricular
activities do not allow grades to be below a certain level, participants may get revoked from that
activity and possibly other activities. While the negative consequences seem to be the most
influential, the positive benefits help a person grow and develop. Extracurricular activities have
helped develop a person s health socially. With several jobs and everyday activities require some
form of being able to socialize with other people. Moreover, they learn sharing and caring, all at
once (Reddy). At a young age, we encourage children to share and care about other children and
people. The extracurricular activities are helping older students, who didn t learn that as a child,
to share and create a bond between people. If students are not actively involved in extracurricular
programs, they are not in a position to take advantage of the educational and social benefits those
programs have to offer (Vinoski). Without extracurricular activities, students are forced to socialize
with their peers at school or at work and those may not be the best relationships. Those
relationships can either affect a person s attitude and social behavior in a positive or negative way.

Children Of Men By Alfonso Cuaron
Children of Men is a thought provoking dystopian film directed by Alfonso Cuaron. It explores the
idea of mankind s own impermanence. Nearly two decades of human infertility have left society on
the brink of collapse. There are many important scenes that help to develop the film. The last scene
particularly intriguing as it left questioning viewers to come to their own conclusions
Children of Men explores the key ideas of hope and faith in the face of futility and despair. The
dystopian film is set on 2027, in a futuristic society in which humans are unable to reproduce. In
the novel from which the movie is based author P.D James says, It is reasonable to struggle, to
suffer, perhaps to even die, for a more just, and more compassionate society, but not in a world
with no future, where all to soon the very words justice , compassion , society , struggle , evil
would be unheard echoes on an empty air. It is evident from this that hope depends on the survival
of future generations. Without hope, lives are disregarded, and bodies disposed of by any means
possible.
There is war, but in this war there are no winners. The reliability of even the existence of the
Human Project is unknown to viewers; talk of it is all circumstantial, as we are never offered
evidence of its existence. The Human Project is supposedly a group organised to experiment ways
to cure infertility and make an end to this shattered society, but what is does for Kee and her baby
is provide hope.

Taking a Look at Surfactant Protein-D
Surfactant protein D (SP D) is a C type lectin which is synthesized in various parts of the body. SP
D plays a key role in the auto immune disorders, lung infections and also helpful in the postnatal
pregnancy. This also plays an active role in the host defense mechanisms. In the host defense
mechanism SP D binds with various micro organisms and other particles that enter the human body
and act against them. In our present study we targeted on the interactions of surfactant proteinD with
the lipidmolecules where their interaction plays an important role in the defense mechanism. In our
study lipid molecules were docked against the SP D protein and interaction studies were carried out.
Mutations were generated at sites F335G and R343V and interactions of the lipids with the mutated
protein molecules were studied. Among the wild and the mutant protein molecules, mutant protein
F335G showed highest interaction with the lipid molecule distearoylphosphatidylcholine with
cDocker energy of 94.726. These studied showed that mutant molecules are showing highest
binding with the lipid molecules when compared to the wild protein molecule. Among all ligand
molecules chosen, distearoylphosphatidylcholine showed highest interaction followed by
dilaurylphosphatidylcholine, dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine with tocopherol showing the least
binding affinity with both wild and the mutant protein molecules.

Business Process Redesign or Reengineering
Business Process Redesign or Reengineering
Business Process Redesign (BPR) or Reengineering is the fundamental rethinking and radical
redesign of business processes to achieve dramatic improvements in critical, contemporary
measures of performance, such as cost, quality, service, and speed (Hammer and Champy,
Reengineering). Since the BPR idea has surfaced it has been under constant ridicule by the popular
press.
They say it takes far too long, creates management headaches, fails 70% of the time, and it s only
for big companies with big checkbooks (Hydrel...). However,
I feel that with the right plan, the right people, and total commitment from those involved, BPR or

This move, however, caused a bit of turmoil in the whole process due to he fact that, many

began by redesigning the bank s lines, question certain products, eliminated processes, and apply

The benefits of this process were significant: 16,000 ideas, 1005 projects, 1,100 positions to be

Reflective Essay On Becoming A Teacher
I never wanted to be the line leader in Kindergarten. I was happy with following everyone else.
All throughout growing up I would do whatever my friends did. We played the same sports,
joined the same clubs, had the same classes, and even wore the same clothes. Even though I was
content with being a follower and doing what everyone else was doing, I knew something was
missing. I wanted to be my own person and I had so many ideas and thoughts to share, yet no
one wanted to hear them from someone who wasn t loud and outgoing. As I entered my teen
years I wanted people to hear me, so I made it my goal to give myself a voice and become the
leader rather than the follower. Learninghow to lead others helped create many opportunities for
me and I finally found what was missing in my life. My ideas were finally heard and used, and I
could not be more pleased. I grew into a strong, creative, and hard working woman.
Learning how to become a leader was grueling. It didn t happen overnight like I had hoped. There
were many steps I had to take like learning how to open myself up to people. I was always a simple
person who never shared how they felt with people. I needed to learn how to open up to people
more, so I started being honest when someone would ask how I was doing. I also started telling
people about the good and bad things that happened to me like the good grade I got on a hard test,
or how I slipped and fell in front of an enormous crowd of people. Sharing little things

Dante s Accomplishments
Dante Alighieri was an italian poet and philosopher who is known worldwide for his
masterpiece, The Divine Comedy, which details Dante s journey through purgatory, hell, and
paradise or heaven. The Comedy represents the christian idea of fate, and the soul s journey
towards god, and is widely considered the greatest piece of literature ever composed in the
italian language. He wrote several other great works, including Convivio (The Banquet), La Vita
Nuova (The New Life), and De Vulgari Eloquentia (on the eloquence of vernacular). He is widely
considered the father of the italian language, and many have likened Dante s literary achievements
to those of Shakespeare. He was born in Florence in the year 1265 sometime between May 21 and

An Existential Crisis In The Death Of Ivan Ilych By Kafka
Samson Abdurachmanov An Existential Crisis Existential crisis is a moment at which an
individual questions the very foundations of their life: whether their life has any meaning, purpose,
or value. Sometimes there are men who will accept their fate graciously. Two works that depict
these ideas are The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy and The Metamorphosisby Kafka. In both
works by Tolstoy and Kafka, the main characters at some point question their lives and what life
means to them. In order to question one s life, it would be necessary that one evaluate the decisions
they make. A person s life can change in any event that has happened to them. Moreover, the...

The Impact Of Henry Ford s Assembly Line System On...
Though the assembly line started over a hundred years ago, it is still revolutionary today. It has
majorly impacted the industrial world so greatly that businesses that did not gain the practice soon
became extinct, and it was also one key factor that assisted creating the automobile into American
society. Henry Fords assembly linesystem was one of the most powerful changes that has affected
modern America and is still recognized today. Not only did he achieve developing the middle
class so anyone could afford his product, but he also broke the ideas of monopolies.
In the first place, some things that we have today wouldn t be here without Ford s assembly line.
Without the assembly line all cars would take a lot longer to manufacture and produce to people
around the nation. The middle class wouldn t have been known without the assembly line because
without the assembly line no workers will be paid $5 every working day. The assembly line is an
constructing process that has parts that are added as the product moves through the line that moves
from station to station where workers or now machines manufacture the product. The middle class
helped revolutionize the assembly line because Henry Ford was paying his workings double the
average factory wage at that time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The History of American Christians
Throughout the year Christians have strived to do the will of God. From to converting people into
Christians to making a society pleasing to God. Christians in America have been present since the
colonial times. In the late 19th century, they were still thriving in the United States. In the early
20th century they were still involved in the broader American culture, committed to shaping public
policy and welcome in political life. But as time continued, evangelicals started to create their own
subculture, no longer involving themselves in politics and the rest of the American culture. By mid
to late 20th century, evangelicals saw that the nation was becoming further way from God and it
was affecting them. They sought to partly reinsert themselves in the American culture and politics
and found they were not as welcome as before. Even though they are not welcome, Christians must
try to do the will of God by turn peoples eyes back to Him in everyday life and politics. In the late
19th century to the early 20th century, evangelical Christians were involved in the American
culture. Evangelical Protestants shaped public policy by trying to reform the nation, according to
their convictions. That is the case with prohibition. Protestants thought that alcohol destroyed self
discipline and self control, not just drunkenness. Evangelicals sought to rid the nation of the
wickedness of alcohol. William Riley, a baptist pastor in Minneapolis, preached about the
immorality of liquor.

Dimethylsulfoxide Essay
Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) (CAS:67 68 5) is studied as an inhibitor of monoamine oxidase
(MAO) (EC 1.4.3.4) extracted from whole and five different parts of rat brain ,namely; basal
ganglia , frontal cortex, cerebellum, medulla oblongata and pons in vitro.
The present study was conducted to investigate the inhibitory effect of DMSO on MAO A and B
isoenzymes. The study aimed to determine the type of inhibition and which part is mostly affected.
The results indicated that DMSO inhibited MAO A of pons and cerebellum and MAO B of basal
ganglia more than MAO iso enzymes of other brain parts. The inhibition was of the competitive
type. It was also found that the enzyme inhibitor dissociation constants (Ki) and the affinity

Psychological Factors Of A Serial Killer Essay
Psychological Factors of a Serial Killer
Alyssa Phillips
Caledonia Mumford High School
Abstract
Neurologically, serial killers have common brain structure abnormalities that cause them to lack
emotions as well as to think irrationally. Their family history includes unhappy relationships with
their parents who usually have beaten them or mentally/sexually abused them. This may cause them
to be unable to form healthy relationships and lack empathy and remorse. Serial killers can be
distinguished by their deceitfulness and their need to control people. Depending on if they are
organized or disorganized killer, they have certain personality characteristics. Personality disorders
such as Antisocial and Borderline Personality Disorder, as well as schizophrenia, are common
among serial killers. Since serial killers are exposed to traumatic environments, their brains change
their structure in order to respond to their experiences.
Intro
A serial killer: a person who murders three or more people; taking place over more than a month
with significant breaks in between. How do you tell who these murderers are? How do you
distinguish them from a next door neighbor, a family member, or a friend? By their brain structure,
personality and family history. There is a commonality among serial killers; not just physically but
mentally and neurologically! How they think, how they act, their family history. Several studies

How Does Flannery O Connor Use Realism
Finding a New Way to Use Realism Authors in America have been using realism since the 19th
century. They are going against the literacy normalcies of romantic views for stories. American
authors take a realistic approach to their story lines by using irony, placing heroes in realistic
situations, or not having a hero in their story. Realismis often used in the form of which common
people are portrayed; average people or poor people are usually the focus. Flannery O Connor
also used realism in her short stories yet she a much different style to express realism. O Connor
was born in 1925 in the deep southern city of Savannah, GA. She grew up a single child and her
father died when she was still young. O Connor grew up well off and lived in a historical house.
She learned about late 19th century southern culture while she was among the wealthy that she
used later in her literature (Baym 436). These childhood events lead O Connor to base a lot of
her writing on the Deep South and took a very grotesque approach to her stories. A Good Man is
Hard to Find was written by O Connor, published in 1953, and is one of her most famous works.

The narrator has a sense of meanness toward this family until right after the accident and then it
changes tone to compassion. These subtle details can form the reader s thoughts toward the
family. O Connor s view on this family is realistic instead of a romantic view of a family. A
romantic view of a family might be a perfect respectful loving family of five with their
grandmother that helps around the house. O Connor shows her view on a realistic view of a
family; the children are disrespectful, Baily barely tolerates his mother, and the grandmother is
over bearing. This take on realism using this family is amplified by the narrator. O Connor s
narrator makes her character development and roles maximize the realism of her

Gender Roles And Expectations Of Men And Women
Since the last few decades, there has been a trend of shift in roles and expectations of men and
women. The shift was dynamic in the latter half of the twentieth century. World had been made a
great stride in acquiring and adapting to the new definition of gender roles. These changes can be
seen in the fields of education, media, economics as well as many other things. The reason for the
change is a rapid increase in the number of women at workplaces worldwide. Unlikely, this wave
of change is not limited to developing countries. Initiated from the west; it is spreading all over
the world. Gender roles can be described as the attitudes and behaviours expected of male and
female members of a society by itself. Gender roles vary a lot. Different cultures impose different
expectations upon the different genders of that culture. Older generations have historically held
more traditional views on gender than young people and that is fortunate!
From the past 50 years the world has experienced tremendous upheaval and revising of its
traditions. The factors affecting the changes in gender role can be the carrier paths, education,
marriage and upbringing of children. These changes in gender roles influence the environment
in homes, offices, schools and eventually the whole society. Firstly, the ideology of gender role
is mostly inherited from the guardians. Children learn from their parents. The way they teach how

Serial Killers Serial killers have struck fear in the hearts of people, yet the public remains
fascinated and intrigued by the crimes perpetrated by these individuals. There are several theories
and factors that have been attributed to serial killers in an attempt to explain their behaviors.
Furthermore, by indentifying the behaviors that are exhibited by serial killers, law enforcement
professionals are able to gather information about these serial killers that will assist in the
apprehension of the criminal. In the majority of serial homicides, a motivating factor, in addition to
domination and manipulation of a victim, is the sexual gratification and desire that is experienced
by the serial killer. Serial killers murderindividuals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michael H. Stone in The Anatomy of Evil states that there are several factors that influence a serial
killer s behavior. The factors that may influence behavior are presented in a nature versus nurture
model with occasional factors falling into a category of mixed and/or unknown origins (201). The
factors that Stone considers to pertain to an individual s natural environment include mental illness
that is coupled with psychosis, schizophrenia, manic depression, autism, and Aspergers Syndrome.
Also included in the list of natural factors are mental illnesses without psychosis such as ADD and
ADHD, alcoholism, epilepsy, and an inordinate sexual drive (201). Personality disorders are
considered to be inherent to an individual and are therefore considered to be a part of an individual
s natural environment; personality disorders include being antisocial, psychopathic, schizoid,
sadistic, paranoid, and/or impulsive aggressive (201). Stone identifies nurture factors as parental
physical/sexual/verbal abuse, parental abandonment and/or neglect, the loss of a parent, absence of
a father, separation and/or divorce of the parental unit before the child is 16, and brain disease or
damage (201). The factors that Stone considers to be attributed to mixed or unknown origins
include paraphilia, juvenile delinquency, substance abuse, alcoholism, conduct disorders that are
committed in childhood, animal torture and arson,

Characteristics Of Identical Twins
In our opinion, twins reared in different conditions will display some of the same traits. However, it
depends on certain aspects as well. To start off, Twin studies are a significant tool to investigate the
nature versus nurture argument. Identical twins, or monozygotic twins, are siblings that have the
exact same genotypes whereas fraternal twins are dizygotic twins that only share half of their genes
together. Fraternal twins are similar to siblings, except they have of the exact age. As Plomin,
DeFries, McClearn, and Rutter (1997) stated that if one twinhas dark hair, then the other twin has
dark hair as well; where the concept of identical genes would ideally distribute itself towards the
phenotypes of behavior and personality of identical twins .
Twins reared in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents who dress their twins up in the same outfits or get them the same set of toys does not
contribute to twins who have the same traits. It shows that a common environment does not give
much impact in developing personalities. Mischel (1981) has also attested to this issue saying that
genes and glands are different, but social learning plays a dramatic role. People develop vast
differences through the stimuli they face in their daily life. Despite being reared in the same
environment (their home), both twins could have had different sets of friends. Thus, going through
their school years having different experiences and facing different challenges. As a whole they will
have completely different hobbies and interests.
Hence, we think that twins will display the same trait even though they were brought up in different
environments because traits have more to do with genetics rather than environment. Which is why
identical twins are more similar when compared to fraternal twins despite both being reared apart.
This is due to the higher similarity in genetic makeup for identical twins when compared to fraternal

Themes Of The Book Thief
The Book Thief is set in the time of World War 2 where the Holocaust is present and disaster is
everywhere. Throughout the story, Liesel, the main character, learns that words are extremely
powerful and hold the ability for people to use them for good or for evil. Among the disaster and
altercations, Liesel uses her literature to comfort her and make herself more powerful due to
her knowledge, which demonstrates the theme of the story, the comfort and power of literature
and words softens the pain of loss. Liesel, the book thief herself, steals books in times of pain.
All six books Liesel steals are metaphors for the feelings of loss and pain during the time of
which the book was stolen. She uses the books to grow knowledge of the situations occurring
around her, one stolen book in particular is The Gravedigger s Handbook This book is the first of
all books Liesel steals, and it is the book that caused her to grow to love words, coincidently, she
finds this book in the snow on the day of her brother s death, which is when she was filled with
grief and abandonment. This book is a symbol for Liesel s grief and as she tries to learn how to
read the book, her twisted comfort in the story shows how the words had a powerful effect on her
grieving process shown by the quotation, ...Not to mention the morbidity of the subject. As for the

What Are Gay Rights Wrong
LGBT Rights
Same sex marriage: A civil right or a moral wrong? In many eyes same sex marriage is a
disgusting thing that should not be allowed. In some cases, dating as far back as the early 1800s,
men were castrated, and sometimes even killed. In more recent times, gays, lesbians, and
transgender people have become more accepted, but there is still a vast amount of people who
want to kill people like that. The people in the LGBT community are often denied adoption, for
reasons that are not valid, such as Lesbian and gay people are more likely y be child molesters.

The Supreme Court had stated that the laws barring homosexual sodomy are not lawful. In the
Bowers v. Hardwick case of 1986, Michael Hardwick was arrested and accused of committing
sodomy with a consenting adult male in the privacy of his own home. He argued that what he
was being accused of was unconstitutional. The before mentioned Windsor case involving the
death of Thea Spyer, is another example of mistreatment. When Edith Windsor was forced to pay
over $300,000 on her wife s estate, money she would not have had to pay had she been the
husband of Thea Spyer. As previously said, Windsor argued against DOMA which indicated that
marriage was between Heterosexual couples. What DOMA stated was ruled unconstitutional, and
Windsor was refunded her money with interest. Finally, an additional instance of LGBT
maltreatment is the Lawrence v. Texas case. In 1998, John Lawrence, and Tyron Garner were
condemned on sodomy charges, when police responded to a false report that the men had illegal
weapons. When the police broke into the house, they did not find illegal weapons, but two
homosexual men engaged in intercourse. After that, they were each fined $200. The two men
appealed their charges in court, and it was ruled that the sodomy law didn t violate the constitutions
of both Texas, and the U.S. In June 2003, it was said that, The petitioners are entitled to respect for
their private lives. The State cannot demean their existence or control their destiny by making their
private sexual conduct a crime. Their right to liberty under the Due Process Clause gives them the
full right to engage in their conduct without intervention of the government. ( Gay; Lesbian Rights.

cons and examines the constitutional issues involved.

one issue preventing them from getting married, not financial issues, and there are no love

Some research suggests same sex marriages could save money for federal and state governments.
And for corporate America, the costs of extending benefits to the partners and families of
homosexual employees are small. More and more companies, state and municipal governments,
and colleges and universities are granting benefits to homosexual workers and children. One big
reason: It s cheap. On average, it would add 1 2 percent tops to employers benefit costs.
At the state level, studies by homosexual research or advocacy groups also find or predict a
positive impact on budgets from same sex marriage or domestic partner legislation. This is primarily
because the changed law would reduce the number of people utilizing means tested programs, such
as Medicaid and food stamps. The incomes of domestic partners would be merged for means testing,
and some partners would look after each other without state help. Conservatives that oppose
homosexual marriages discount these cost benefit studies because they deal with the short term
impact, and not the long term effect of redefining marriage.
Many will argue that children of lesbian and gay parents do not grow up the same as children of
heterosexual parents. Opponents argue that children raised by gay parents were more likely to
consider homosexual relationships. Sexual orientation of a parent is critical to the upbringing of a
child. Society is based on the ideal of having heterosexual parents, and it goes against

Tulips and Cut by Sylvia Plath
Tulips and Cut
Sylvia Plath is a confessional who puts her own experiences in her works that were written during
the eighteen century. Sylvia Plath was diagnosed with depression, but recovered when she first
attempted suicide in college. In her marriage to Ted Hughes she fell back into depression, which led
her to attempt suicide and again this time she died .During the twentieth century, women in
American culture were treated as objects without a voice, and male dominance suppressed them.
Plath uses allusion, symbolism and metaphors throughout her poems Tulips and Cut to demonstrate
the theme of women in American culture.
Plath uses allusions throughout her poems Tulips and Cut to display women s culture in
America. In Tulips she uses the biblical allusion of Shutting their mouths on it, like Communion
tablet to illustrate how the dead and herself come close to pure tranquility by staying utterly still
as a rock (line 35). The biblical allusion demonstrates women s culture in the United States by
women accepting the opportunity for tranquility, to flee from their social duties as mother and
wife. In the last stanza of Tulips Plath says, The tulips should be behind bars like dangerous
animals; /They are opening like a mouth of some great African cat allocates how her social
restrains are eating her like a African cat (lines 58 59). This demonstrates how women in American
culture like Plath, are compelled to social boundaries by a lack of freedom.

What Are The Economic Factors That Affect The New England...
Economic opportunity was extremely prevalent in the colonies. Factors that heavily influenced
the situation were influx of people, triangular trade, and also the New England colonies. An
influx of people is beneficial for any economy, and Colonial America was no different.
Triangular trade was also how slaves fueled the cultivation of land. The New England colonies
were in all sorts of trades, from growing corn to whaling and fishing. All of these factors played a
huge role in building a successful economy. The influx of immigrants to the colonies was an
overwhelming part of economic success. People were pouring in from ships with different
causes and incentives. One example is of the Puritans. They were against the Church of England
and they fled to America in 1620. Not only were they ready to go, the local government was
more than happy to see them leave. Another instance where this occurred was with the
overpopulation of Europe. Document 6 mentions that the middle and low classes were a crowded
society, and America was looked upon as a place with space for everybody. Here also, people were
eager to go for more space, as well as the Europeans who were happy to send off people from
crowded regions. There were also many debtors in Britain. Instead of rotting away in prison,
James Oglethorpe decides that they deserve a second chance. King George II accepts his request
and the debtors settle in Georgia, happy to lead a new life. Indentured servants were also a form of

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Have you ever known a person who
smokes and has a hard time doing every day activities, due to difficulty of breath, or constantly
coughing. He or she may have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD. COPD is a
progressive and treatable lung disease that causes shortness of breath due to obstruction of air way
(COPD, 2013). Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of
chronic bronchitis and emphysema(Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the
bronchioles, which causes mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get
enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know
pathology (path of disease), epidemiology (who is effected in a population), ethology (who is
effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms), treatment, and outcome.
First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called
the pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the
bronchial tubes to the bronchioles. At the end of the bronchioles there are air sacs called
alveoli. The alveoli are elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon
dioxide to the body (Smoking, 2016). The alveoli consist of elastic tissue so when a person
breaths in the the alveoli can expand and when the carbon dioxide is released it can deflate and
return to it s normal size.

Ancient Greek Vs. Medieval Theater
Each theatrical work reflects the culture and moment in time it is made in. The work does this by
exemplifying the values and beliefs of its culture and time. Ancient Greek theater reflects ancient
Greek values and beliefs, such as the importance of the gods. Medieval theater portrays Medieval
beliefs and values, like the values of community and religion. This can be said for post modern
works as well. Post modern theater, although it seems fractured, reflects the culture, sub culture, and
time of its creation.
Although post modern theater does not share all unanimous ideals, like previous theatrical works, it
is still a product of one culture. The post modern culture seems fractured because it includes
multiple different groups. This is shift from the narrower perspective, like the just Greek or just
Medieval European point of view, is due to increased communication. In the post modern era it is
much easier to communicate with anyone around the world. With the increase of communication,
especially since the ancient Greek and Medieval times, there has been in increase in sharing beliefs
and values.
With more people communicating more voices can be heard. This saturates the post modern era
with different ideals, almost to the point of seeming fractured. That is not the case though; the
increasing number of different beliefs is a post modern belief in itself. The large sum of
differentiating beliefs perpetuates one unanimous post modern belief. This is the belief and value

How Stress And Stress Management
For this assignment I was asked to select a topic in which we have studied during the weeks of
nine through eleven. I have selected to explore Stress and Stress Management more in depth. In this
assignment I will explain what made me want to know more about it. I plan on telling you what
you should know about Stressand Stress Management. Lastly, I will discuss how Stress and Stress
Management relate to success in my personal and professional life. Stress can be defined as the
nonspecific response of the body to any demand made on it (Lamberton Minor, 2014, p. 288).
Selecting this topic was very easy for me because the past few days have been very stressful. I
have recently endured a stressful situation in which I have never encountered before. I recently

I received a call back offering me the position. This was great news, but the call came five
minutes after I had arrived to work for my twelve hour shift. After, the five minute conversation
I accepted the offer, but proceeded to tell her I would need to get back with her on the wage
offer. The stress I felt in that moment was positive. According to our text this form of stress is
known as eustress. Eustress is a good stress, not to mention it is desirable (Lamberton Minor,

A lot of people believe that the best alternative would be to have a hired security guard or law
enforcement guarding the school at all times. This idea is better because it allows the teachers to
be at peace by not having to worry about if they would be ending a life. If I m going to have a gun
on the premises I d rather have a resource officer who has been trained, Martin said. If I m going to
defend myself in the community, I m not firing around potentially 1,000 kids. By hiring securitythe

Why Do You Think Progress Is Impossible Without Change Dbq
Progress is impossible without change George Bernard Shaw. Asoka was an emperor who
conquered Kalinga and most of India also killed over 200,000 people and drove 150,000 people
out of Kalinga but, he changed and became a good person. That is why history should see Asoka
as an enlightened ruler. He should be remembered as an enlightened ruler for these three reasons.
Asoka cared for the people in his empire, Ashoka helped the families in his empire, and Ashoka is
inspired people. First, Document C Asoka cared about most people for example Ashoka gave rich
wealthy gifts to the poor. Ashoka also went on a pilgrimage and seeked a guru or a teacher to reject

Seven Samurai Character Traits
As the above quotation proving how critical it was for the farmers and the samurai to unite.
Energizing the farmers was a hard task as they feared for their lives, however the samurai begun to
teach the peasants how to fight and defend themselves, once again showing their loyalty.
Kambei, kikuchiyo and kyuzo are three characters kurosawas gives specific bushido values too,
while each influencing the movie greatly through the budido virtues. In Akira Kurosawa s the seven
Samurai (1954), Kambei s character is created with unique characteristics so he can excel as a
leader, therefore being the main character throughout the film. Kambei is given an early task of
assembling a team of seven samurai to ultimately defend the famer s village from bandits.

Kambei becomes the first Samurai recruited by the villagers, however, he now has the seemingly
impossible task of locating six more samurai warriors to accompany him in battle. As a matter of
fact, I m preparing for a tough war. It will bring us neither money nor fame. Want to join?
(Kurosawa 33). The above quotation illustrates how Kambei bluntly invites the samurai to join
him while lacking any real benefits to bargain besides a warm bed and rice. Kambei uses his
shear experience and character traits to lure the samurai into his group. Obvious to the readers
Kambei is a man of honor in everything he does. Between assembling each samurai at the
beginning, to winning the last battle against the bandits, Kambei never forgets the bushido virtue
of honor. Although it can be argued, Kambei does follow each one of the Bushido virtues, but
his honor is what sets him apart from the rest. In Roger Ebert s (The Seven Samurai) film review
he further backs up this point as he describes kambeis character. He is a calm, wise leader and a
good strategian, and we follow the battles partly because he (and Kurosawa) map them out for us,

Adler s Theory Of Personality
First of all, Adler s theory believes that personality is formed during the first five years of life
(Adler, A.,1927). By this age a child develops his/her style of life, and it is critical in his/her
personality development. The narrator experiences neglect during these periods: And after
some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drawing. My Drawing Number
One. I showed my masterpiece to the grown ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened
them. But they answered: Frighten? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat? My drawing
was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the
grown ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa
constrictor, so that the grown ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things
explained. The grown ups response, this time, was to advise me to lay aside my drawings of boa
constrictors, whether from the inside or the outside, and devote myself instead to geography,
history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why, at the age of six, I gave up what might have been
a magnificent career as a painter. I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number
One and my Drawing Number Two. Grown ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is
tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them (de Saint ExupГ©ry, A.,
1999). According to Adler s theory, neglect is critical in a child s

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich
One Day in the life of Ivan Denisovich was the first novel written by the Nobel laureate Alexandr
Solzhenitsyn. It revolves around one day in the life of an inmate in a Gulag , which was a name
given to the forced labor camps in the Soviet Union. The novel is set during the winter of 1951
when the Soviet Union was under the communist rule of Joseph Stalin. The novel can be seen as an
autobiographical account of Solzhenitsyn s life as the author was arrested for making derogatory
remarks about Stalin, following which he spent a long time in prisons and labor camps very
similar to the one described in the novel. The novel has been written in the first person narrative
through the eyes of Ivan Denisovich who is serving his eighth year of his ten year sentence.

of this is of a prisoner called Fetiukov, who is despised and referred to as the Jackal by his fellow
prisoners. He would lick the leftovers of the other zeks and would beg for almost anything he
could get, in turn losing his self respect and dignity among the members of his squad. There was
also a lot of corruption in the kitchens. The cooks would eat as much as their belly would , and

Basic Concepts And Principles Of Good Quality Supervision
Introduction On my journey on learning about the basic concepts and principles of good quality
supervision, I feel that I have started to get a good understanding of what is required of the
supervisee and supervisor partnership. I will explain some of the fundamental ideas and rules,
that I believe make up good supervision. 1.Analysis of basic concepts and principles of good
quality supervision I have learned that the relationship between supervisee and supervisor must be
of a professional and formal partnership, to deviate from this would change the dynamics of the
relationship and stop both the supervisee and the supervisor being truly open. By maintaining the
professional boundaries, the client will receive the best support possible as well as new skills and
possible incites that the supervisee can inherit from the supervision session. Supervision is a joint
endeavour in which a practitioner with the help of a supervisor, attends to their clients, themselves
as part of their client practitioner relationships and the wider systemic context and by so doing
improves the quality of their work, transforming their client relationships, continuously develops
themselves, their practice and the wider profession. Hawkins P Shohet R 2012:60 I have found
that to find good quality supervision, it is important to first find and meet a supervisor that has got
an approved qualification and is currently registered on a recognised counselling data base, it is
then important to

Beowulf Values
Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, is an oral story about a Norse hero. Beowulf is a pagan
story with Christian influences. This story takes place in the Norse kingdoms of Denmark, and
Sweden. The basic Viking tenants included courage (2), and greatness (2). However, there are
values that are displayed by people who are greater than the common man. These values include
being prudent (19), and being a good leader. In Norse culture, honor is a key aspect in defining a
person s status in a kingdom. Honor is defined by one s respect, wealth and power. The primary
Norse traditions are funerals (burning a ship), sailing, being a warrior, and giving gifts as sign of
respect and peace. In several instances, there is a threat to civilization, or society. In most of these
cases, a glorious hero saves the day. Beowulfis this hero. Beowulf arrives in Heorot hall to
maintain order, in order to gain glory, and save the Danes. However, these heroes do not last
forever. Beowulf s downfall occurs because he did not listen to Hrothgar s advice, he was a good
king; but his followers did not come to his aid, and his actions, attitudes and beliefs. Hrothgar s
advice is composed of two different aspects: one being mindful of the fragility of live, and the
second being mindful of the dangers in power. No life is immune to danger; Hrothgar s experience
proves this. Hrothgar states I ruled the Ring Danes country for fifty years, defending them in
wartime (1769 1770) until Grendel

On October 29th, 2012, the NYSE was forced to shut down operations for two days in lieu of
Hurricane Sandy, which severely impacted their stock sales and purchasing exchanges. NASDAQ
had no issues during this time because they don t utilize a physical location for trading. This is one
of the larger disadvantages that NYSE has when compared to NASDAQ, which had no trouble
working past the storm through their electronic communications model. [IMPACT, MORE INFO]
The New York Stock Exchangeutilizes the NYSE Euronext, integrating an electronic stock
exchange model with their in person trading floor model in 2007. This change introduced the
NYSE as the first global stock exchange through their integration of the electronic stock exchange
model introduced by Amsterdam based Euronext [10]. Despite their electronic stock exchange,
buyers and sellers still meet on the NYSE floor in person to negotiate the sales and purchase of
the stocks. The NYSE is one of the only remaining stock exchanges where physical interactions are
necessary for stock sales and purchases.

All trades in the New York Stock Exchange is done through an auction format. Buyers and sellers

The Anti Heroes Of Truman Capote s Cold Blood Are Perry...
There are many novels wherein the main character in an anti hero. Anti heroes are the twisted
versions of wholesome protagonists; protagonists have pure ideals and motives, while an anti hero
s end motives usually justify the morally grey means that he or she achieved them by. The readers
of such novels usually root for the seemingly villainous protagonist, this anti hero . The anti heros
in Truman Capotes In Cold Bloodare Perry Smith and Dick Hickock. These two men are reported
to be cold blooded killers in this nonfiction novel, and yet many readers root for these anti heroes,
thanks to Capotes retelling of events. Truman Capote attempts to humanizes these killers by sharing
their pasts with the reader, which trigger sympathy or hatred, depending on how Capote portrays
them
In order to humanize the killers, Capote gives background stories on their lives, which trigger
sympathy in Perry s case. Perry first reads a letter from his father to the Kansas State Parole
Board, written the first time Perry was held in Lansing, for larceny, theft, and jailbreak. Perry s
father writes about how Perry s mother fell to drinking and split the family, and how Perry had
to live moving from city to city, hunting and trapping. Perry s father Tex John Smith writes How
well I know that Perry is goodhearted if you treat him rite. Treat him mean and you got a buzz saw
to fight... He knows life is to short to sweet to spend behind bars ever again (Capote 130). This
letter humanizes

The Party Exited the Courtyard
Minister Mike s party included Skylar, Ethan, Mr Pisher and a meager handful of the remaining
students each of whom tolerated the midday sun as they walked single file around the massive
Palace structure. The once magnificent lush grounds had turned into withering vegetation. Water
was scarce.
The new Government could not afford this luxurious expensive. Those who lived in the region did
not know why the devoted groundskeepers had recently abandoned their post. Soon, it would
become evident as Minister Mike s party continued around Egyptian style Palace.
The Babylon summer Palace was shaped in a U design, so when Minister Mike saw the balcony
above the first wing; he noticed Giselle by herself clutching the railing. She looked nauseated. He
wanted to say something. However, Mike felt it best to leave her alone.
Mike did not see Daniel ducking behind the balcony French door.
The Minister s party rounded the Palace. There they strolled into the three sided courtyard. Marble
terraced steps leaded from an Olympic size swimming pool to the main residence level. The scale
of the Saddam s Babylon Palace would rival those in Europe; mounted above the Babylon ruins, it
was easy to imagine the grand parties hosted poolside.
Now a drained pool sat eroding with desert debris. The diving board was scattered from its
mountings. It gave an eerie appearance to the dismal Palace grounds.
Skylar ascended the steps into the pool, and turn back to the Minister. She mimicked a

The Importance of You-Are-Here Maps in Emergency Situations
Introduction
You Are Here maps are specific maps which have an indicator, You are here , to place the
position of the map reader on the map. You are here maps are aimed to guide newcomers in a
modest size unit such as shopping malls, parks, university campuses, airports. You are here maps
allow people to orient themselves in the environments (Levine, 1982). Visitors of these areas will
have different purposes. For example, a visitor may search for a particular shop in complex
shopping mall or a newcomer in a public or commercial building might look for the exit door.
According to different purposes, a variety of spatial task is needed. One of the most important
purpose and spatial task is to guide people to the nearest exits in the case of evacuation. In the
case of emergency situation spatial awareness of all involved people is really critical. Therefore,

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Temple of Artemis at
Ephesus, and The Lighthouse of Alexandria. The Great Pyramids was constructed for King
Khufu son of King Sneferu. Three separate and diminutive pyramids were built around King s

Also as you look at the structure you will see that entrance hall is on the north side standing

ways to the chambers are. the It makes you think about the size of humans at that time and how
impossible it most have been to build this wonders of world. Another fact about the construction is
where did the individuals who helped build the Great Pyramid came from. Some believe they were
slaves from all the nations the Egyptian empire ruled but further studies of skeletons exhumed from
the site show that the workers were most likely Egyptians laborers believe to work on the pyramids
when the Nile River swamped the land close to it. They also built a small community right next to
the site which included bakeries, grocery stores, carpenter shops, etc.
I had the opportunity to travel to Egypt and see the Great Pyramid and I was able to read or hear
from our guide a few facts about this monumental structure. Here are some of facts I learned: the
pyramids are aligned with the Constellation of Orion. The Great Pyramids is the most accurately
aligned structure in existence and faces truth north with only 3/60th of a degree of error
(Tompkins). The coffer in the King s chambers is massive, thus impossible to fit thru the passage.

  • 2. Theme Of Life Lies In Blanche Dubois Dealing with the harsh truths of life can be tough for anyone to handle, which is why people tell themselves lies. These lies are called life lies a falsehood used to rationalize the lifestyle people are living or actions they have committed. Tennessee Williams and Henrik Ibsen investigate how life lies can turn into delusions a state of mind or way of life when they are used to cope with the stresses of everyday life. Williams protagonist, Blanche DuBois, was a former southern belle forced to move in with her sister, Stella, after her husband s suicide and being evicted from Belle Reve, her family home. To cope with these traumatic events, Blanche decided to recreate her character. To do so, she lied to the people around about her sinful past because she wanted to appear to them as the pure, southern belle she once was. As the lies piled up, she came to believe them as truth, therefore, creating her delusion. Blanche only came to further and more deeply believe her delusion as the play progressed. On the other hand, Ibsen s protagonist, Nora, had been taken advantage of her whole life. She was merely a pawn of the two most important men in her life: her father and husband. Unlike Blanche, Nora s delusion was innate she was taught these lies were the truth from birth, whereas Blanche consciously created her delusions to protect her from past sins. Through a series of realizations, Nora came to see the truth of the lieshe was living. Nora was a doll confined to the walls and ways of Torvald, her husband s, doll house. Tennessee Williams, in A Streetcar Named Desire, and Henrik Ibsen, in A Doll s House, employ life lies portrayed as delusions as coping mechanisms; Ibsen explored how a new life and freedom can be gained from a realization of one s delusion, while Williams explored how unwillingness to accept a delusion can further trap and confine people. Williams utilized the symbols of light and darkness to hide Blanche physically just as she used lies to cover up and cope with her tainted past. Blanche avoided direct exposure to light because she was afraid of exposing herself and, therefore, her past. She [couldn t] stand a naked lightbulb in Stella s house because of the fear it would expose her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Examples Of Interview Questions About Juveniles Interviewer:So, like I said, it s just to get your feedback on that. The first question is, do you remember using it? Interviewee:Yes. Interviewer:What do you remember about it, if anything? Interviewee:Just calling and one of the instances I remember calling on was a juvenile who had taken her mother s vehicle without permission. We ended up finding the vehicle and the female who was driving it, was reported to possible have the vehicle and so I called the juvenile center to see if they would accept her. I remember distinctly, there was a conflict, initially they told me they wouldn t, and then when I was talking back to the mother, the mother didn t want to take her at the time. She was obviously upset, so I called them back... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interviewee:We do, usually during the summertime we do a lot, but since school has started again. It s not very often, especially due to working late at night, but during the daytime, we would run into juveniles a lot whether it was at shoplifting or at the schools and everything like that. Interviewer:If you were to sit down with the Chief and he said, overall, what do you think of this and should be pursue it or not? Interviewee:I think, in the bigger scheme of things, I think it s a good program and its good because at the same time, I totally completely understand that we can t take every single juvenile to the juvenile center because it would be overrun. Especially, some of the kids that will shoplift or do something pretty minor and they are first time offenders and that it and they never do it again. I just don t think it s appropriate to take every single kid to the center. I think it is good to call and then they say, sorry can you just release them to a parent or guardian. A lot of time the kids don t even do it again after we talk to them and they realize that they don t want to go to juvenile center and they learned that time, so I think it s a good ... • 4. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Schizophrenia And Illness Anxiety... I would diagnose Mr Beaver with Schizophrenia and Illness Anxiety Disorder. At first I thought that Mr Beaver had Somatic Symptom Disorder due to his constant worrying of brain numbness, but as I looked deeper into his case I believe his symptoms match Illness Anxiety Disorder. I went back and forth on which disorder he has or if he only had Schizophrenia. As I looked further into Mr Beavers case I believe he has Schizophrenia and Illness Anxiety Disorder. The symptoms that are present that support Schizophrenia include delusions, hallucinations, and negative symptoms. Mr Beaver showed two types of delusions. The first type was Persecution. As he was leaving the doctors he had told other patients that the doctors are out to get them, by saying not to trust the doctors. He also said that the doctors must all be working together and that they were told not to tell him what is wrong with him. Both of these symptoms are part of the Persecution Delusion. Due to this feeling he began to isolate himself in his room due to the fact that it was a safe place for him. The second delusion is Reference Delusion. It was mentioned that Justin Beaver felt that the TV was talking to him specifically. Mr Beaver also showed two symptoms for hallucinations. The first one was Auditory Hallucination. While listening to the radio, Justin Beaver would softly hear his name being called. As he would go and check out where his name was being called from he would experience a Olfactory Hallucination. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Poland s Revoked Voting Rights Nick Queen Dr. Mbaye POLS EU April 18, 2016 Poland s Revoked Voting Rights in the European Union The end of the Second World War created an era of peace for some countries, but for those under the control of the Soviet Union, life became extremely difficult both socially and politically. Poland was under the direct authority of the USSR and was subjugated to live with an authoritarian government, whom did not allow political opposition and freedom. Decades passed until the USSR collapsed and even then Poland faced rigged elections and remained under a regime that denied political change. The late twentieth century spurred on opportunity for Poland when the first free election initiated an era of democracy in politics and the promotion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This hazard came after the government of Poland had reorganized the voting requirements of the Constitutional Court and altered the structure of the nation s media outlets. The majority ruling party within Poland, the Law and Justice Party, also raised moral questions among other EU member states by establishing new government appointed leaders to the public television and broadcasting agencies. This new change in judicial processes and media control has led many members of the European Union to question both the democracy and corruption within the Polish government and to determine if the new policies have infringed on the EU s values and morals. Therefore, these recent political fluctuations have lead me to ask what powers does the EU have to influence a member countries media and court institutions, why has the EU become worried about Poland, and in which ways will the EU attempt to sanction Poland for their alterations? This research paper will elaborate on Poland s recent political changes. It will then analyze how Poland s changes have raised controversy with the European Union and why the EU was concerned. Lastly, the research will demonstrate which institutions in the EU have jurisdiction over such a conflict, and how the European Union will attempt to nullify Poland s voting rights within the EU. I personally prefer not to read lengthy novels spanning 600+ pages, so when I first began to read the novel I was uninterested in the extensive details and descriptions, but as I progressed into the novel I began to fall in love with the character Owen Meany and his persona, that I couldn t resist putting this novel down. I found the novel to be life changing as it irrefutably reflects the perpetual axiom that you don t have to be someone great in order to be an influence for others. An essential aspect of integrating special education students into public schools is the idea of Individualized Education Programs (IEP). If a child is enrolled in a special educationprogram, it is mandatory that they be assigned an IEP. This legal document, required by law, outlines the child s learningneeds, the services that will be provided for them, and how their progress and achievement will be measured annually. The Least Restrictive Environment Act essentially establishes the rights for handicapped children to be educated with their non disabled peers to the greatest extent appropriate. • 13. Children Of Men By Alfonso Cuaron Children of Men is a thought provoking dystopian film directed by Alfonso Cuaron. It explores the idea of mankind s own impermanence. Nearly two decades of human infertility have left society on the brink of collapse. There are many important scenes that help to develop the film. The last scene particularly intriguing as it left questioning viewers to come to their own conclusions Children of Men explores the key ideas of hope and faith in the face of futility and despair. The dystopian film is set on 2027, in a futuristic society in which humans are unable to reproduce. In the novel from which the movie is based author P.D James says, It is reasonable to struggle, to suffer, perhaps to even die, for a more just, and more compassionate society, but not in a world with no future, where all to soon the very words justice , compassion , society , struggle , evil would be unheard echoes on an empty air. It is evident from this that hope depends on the survival of future generations. Without hope, lives are disregarded, and bodies disposed of by any means possible. There is war, but in this war there are no winners. The reliability of even the existence of the Human Project is unknown to viewers; talk of it is all circumstantial, as we are never offered evidence of its existence. The Human Project is supposedly a group organised to experiment ways to cure infertility and make an end to this shattered society, but what is does for Kee and her baby is provide hope. ... SP D plays a key role in the auto immune disorders, lung infections and also helpful in the postnatal pregnancy. This also plays an active role in the host defense mechanisms. In the host defense mechanism SP D binds with various micro organisms and other particles that enter the human body and act against them. In our present study we targeted on the interactions of surfactant proteinD with the lipidmolecules where their interaction plays an important role in the defense mechanism. In our study lipid molecules were docked against the SP D protein and interaction studies were carried out. Mutations were generated at sites F335G and R343V and interactions of the lipids with the mutated protein molecules were studied. Among the wild and the mutant protein molecules, mutant protein F335G showed highest interaction with the lipid molecule distearoylphosphatidylcholine with cDocker energy of 94.726. These studied showed that mutant molecules are showing highest binding with the lipid molecules when compared to the wild protein molecule. Among all ligand molecules chosen, distearoylphosphatidylcholine showed highest interaction followed by dilaurylphosphatidylcholine, dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine with tocopherol showing the least binding affinity with both wild and the mutant protein molecules. In more recent times, gays, lesbians, and transgender people have become more accepted, but there is still a vast amount of people who want to kill people like that. The people in the LGBT community are often denied adoption, for reasons that are not valid, such as Lesbian and gay people are more likely y be child molesters. Hardwick case of 1986, Michael Hardwick was arrested and accused of committing sodomy with a consenting adult male in the privacy of his own home. He argued that what he was being accused of was unconstitutional. The before mentioned Windsor case involving the death of Thea Spyer, is another example of mistreatment. When Edith Windsor was forced to pay over $300,000 on her wife s estate, money she would not have had to pay had she been the husband of Thea Spyer. As previously said, Windsor argued against DOMA which indicated that marriage was between Heterosexual couples. What DOMA stated was ruled unconstitutional, and Windsor was refunded her money with interest. Finally, an additional instance of LGBT maltreatment is the Lawrence v. Texas case. In 1998, John Lawrence, and Tyron Garner were condemned on sodomy charges, when police responded to a false report that the men had illegal weapons. When the police broke into the house, they did not find illegal weapons, but two homosexual men engaged in intercourse. After that, they were each fined $200. The two men appealed their charges in court, and it was ruled that the sodomy law didn t violate the constitutions of both Texas, and the U.S. In June 2003, it was said that, The petitioners are entitled to respect for their private lives. The State cannot demean their existence or control their destiny by making their private sexual conduct a crime. Their right to liberty under the Due Process Clause gives them the full right to engage in their conduct without intervention of the government. Some research suggests same sex marriages could save money for federal and state governments. And for corporate America, the costs of extending benefits to the partners and families of homosexual employees are small. More and more companies, state and municipal governments, and colleges and universities are granting benefits to homosexual workers and children. One big reason: It s cheap. On average, it would add 1 2 percent tops to employers benefit costs. At the state level, studies by homosexual research or advocacy groups also find or predict a positive impact on budgets from same sex marriage or domestic partner legislation. This is primarily because the changed law would reduce the number of people utilizing means tested programs, such as Medicaid and food stamps. The incomes of domestic partners would be merged for means testing, and some partners would look after each other without state help. Conservatives that oppose homosexual marriages discount these cost benefit studies because they deal with the short term impact, and not the long term effect of redefining marriage. Many will argue that children of lesbian and gay parents do not grow up the same as children of heterosexual parents. Opponents argue that children raised by gay parents were more likely to consider homosexual relationships. Sexual orientation of a parent is critical to the upbringing of a child. Sylvia Plath was diagnosed with depression, but recovered when she first attempted suicide in college. In her marriage to Ted Hughes she fell back into depression, which led her to attempt suicide and again this time she died .During the twentieth century, women in American culture were treated as objects without a voice, and male dominance suppressed them. Plath uses allusion, symbolism and metaphors throughout her poems Tulips and Cut to demonstrate the theme of women in American culture. Plath uses allusions throughout her poems Tulips and Cut to display women s culture in America. In Tulips she uses the biblical allusion of Shutting their mouths on it, like Communion tablet to illustrate how the dead and herself come close to pure tranquility by staying utterly still as a rock (line 35). The biblical allusion demonstrates women s culture in the United States by women accepting the opportunity for tranquility, to flee from their social duties as mother and wife. In the last stanza of Tulips Plath says, The tulips should be behind bars like dangerous animals; /They are opening like a mouth of some great African cat allocates how her social restrains are eating her like a African cat (lines 58 59). Factors that heavily influenced the situation were influx of people, triangular trade, and also the New England colonies. An influx of people is beneficial for any economy, and Colonial America was no different. Triangular trade was also how slaves fueled the cultivation of land. The New England colonies were in all sorts of trades, from growing corn to whaling and fishing. All of these factors played a huge role in building a successful economy. The influx of immigrants to the colonies was an overwhelming part of economic success. People were pouring in from ships with different causes and incentives. One example is of the Puritans. They were against the Church of England and they fled to America in 1620. Not only were they ready to go, the local government was more than happy to see them leave. Another instance where this occurred was with the overpopulation of Europe. Document 6 mentions that the middle and low classes were a crowded society, and America was looked upon as a place with space for everybody. Here also, people were eager to go for more space, as well as the Europeans who were happy to send off people from crowded regions. There were also many debtors in Britain. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE Have you ever known a person who smokes and has a hard time doing every day activities, due to difficulty of breath, or constantly coughing. He or she may have Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD. COPD is a progressive and treatable lung disease that causes shortness of breath due to obstruction of air way (COPD, 2013). Progressive means that is gradually gets worse over time. It is a combination of chronic bronchitis and emphysema(Causes,2014). Chronic bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchioles, which causes mucus build up (Davis,2016). Emphysema is when the air sacs get enlarged (Smoking, 2016). Since the disease does not have a cure yet it is important to know pathology (path of disease), epidemiology (who is effected in a population), ethology (who is effected genetically), manifestation (symptoms), treatment, and outcome. First step preventing COPD is to know how it affects the body and the path taken; this is called the pathology. In normal, healthy breathing a person breathes in air that is moves through the bronchial tubes to the bronchioles. At the end of the bronchioles there are air sacs called alveoli. The alveoli are elastic air sacs that control the gas exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide to the body (Smoking, 2016). The alveoli consist of elastic tissue so when a person breaths in the the alveoli can expand and when the carbon dioxide is released it can deflate and return to it s normal size. ... • 39. Ancient Greek Vs. Medieval Theater Each theatrical work reflects the culture and moment in time it is made in. The work does this by exemplifying the values and beliefs of its culture and time. Ancient Greek theater reflects ancient Greek values and beliefs, such as the importance of the gods. Medieval theater portrays Medieval beliefs and values, like the values of community and religion. This can be said for post modern works as well. Post modern theater, although it seems fractured, reflects the culture, sub culture, and time of its creation. Although post modern theater does not share all unanimous ideals, like previous theatrical works, it is still a product of one culture. The post modern culture seems fractured because it includes multiple different groups. This is shift from the narrower perspective, like the just Greek or just Medieval European point of view, is due to increased communication. In the post modern era it is much easier to communicate with anyone around the world. With the increase of communication, especially since the ancient Greek and Medieval times, there has been in increase in sharing beliefs and values. With more people communicating more voices can be heard. This saturates the post modern era with different ideals, almost to the point of seeming fractured. That is not the case though; the increasing number of different beliefs is a post modern belief in itself. The large sum of differentiating beliefs perpetuates one unanimous post modern belief. This was great news, but the call came five minutes after I had arrived to work for my twelve hour shift. After, the five minute conversation I accepted the offer, but proceeded to tell her I would need to get back with her on the wage offer. The stress I felt in that moment was positive. According to our text this form of stress is known as eustress. Eustress is a good stress, not to mention it is desirable (Lamberton Minor, 2014). By this age a child develops his/her style of life, and it is critical in his/her personality development. The narrator experiences neglect during these periods: And after some work with a colored pencil I succeeded in making my first drawing. My Drawing Number One. I showed my masterpiece to the grown ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them. But they answered: Frighten? Why should anyone be frightened by a hat? My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa constrictor, so that the grown ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained. The grown ups response, this time, was to advise me to lay aside my drawings of boa constrictors, whether from the inside or the outside, and devote myself instead to geography, history, arithmetic and grammar. That is why, at the age of six, I gave up what might have been a magnificent career as a painter. I had been disheartened by the failure of my Drawing Number One and my Drawing Number Two. This story takes place in the Norse kingdoms of Denmark, and Sweden. The basic Viking tenants included courage (2), and greatness (2). However, there are values that are displayed by people who are greater than the common man. These values include being prudent (19), and being a good leader. In Norse culture, honor is a key aspect in defining a person s status in a kingdom. Honor is defined by one s respect, wealth and power. The primary Norse traditions are funerals (burning a ship), sailing, being a warrior, and giving gifts as sign of respect and peace. In several instances, there is a threat to civilization, or society. In most of these cases, a glorious hero saves the day. Beowulfis this hero. The once magnificent lush grounds had turned into withering vegetation. Water was scarce. The new Government could not afford this luxurious expensive. Those who lived in the region did not know why the devoted groundskeepers had recently abandoned their post. Soon, it would become evident as Minister Mike s party continued around Egyptian style Palace. The Babylon summer Palace was shaped in a U design, so when Minister Mike saw the balcony above the first wing; he noticed Giselle by herself clutching the railing. She looked nauseated. He wanted to say something. However, Mike felt it best to leave her alone. Mike did not see Daniel ducking behind the balcony French door. The Minister s party rounded the Palace. There they strolled into the three sided courtyard. Marble terraced steps leaded from an Olympic size swimming pool to the main residence level. The scale of the Saddam s Babylon Palace would rival those in Europe; mounted above the Babylon ruins, it was easy to imagine the grand parties hosted poolside. Now a drained pool sat eroding with desert debris. The diving board was scattered from its mountings. It gave an eerie appearance to the dismal Palace grounds. Skylar ascended the steps into the pool, and turn back to the Minister. She mimicked a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The oldest and major is the only surviving structure out of the famed seven wonders of the ancient world. The other wonders are: The Colossus of Rhodes, The Statue of Zeus at Olympia, The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, The Hanging Gardens of Babylon, The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, and The Lighthouse of Alexandria. The coffer in the King s chambers is massive, thus impossible to fit thru the passage. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
