Informal or friendly letters typically contain 5 parts: 1. The Heading includes the date but not necessarily the sender's address. 2. The Salutation is a greeting that ends in a comma, such as "Dear Uncle" or "Hi Joe". 3. The Body contains the message, which is usually introduced and concluded. Paragraphs are indented and the main body develops the subject. 4. The Closing is a short expression on a single line with the first word capitalized and a comma after the last word. 5. The Signature line contains the sender's name under the closing.
