Formal letters
Formal letters have several parts:
•The Heading: your address and the date (on the right)
•The Address of the Person you are writing to (left)
•Salutation:(indented) and with comma
Dear Sir/Madam (you don't know the name of the person)
Dear Mr/Mrs/Ms +surname of the person
•Introduction: Why you are writing the letter.
•The Body: (2-4 paragraphs) that should contain the relevant
information behind the writing of the letter
(complaints, justifications,acceptance of invitation,
qualifications..)
Formal letters
•Conclusion: The final paragraph (suggested
action to be taken, closing remarks, express
understanding, promises...).
•The end of the letter:
Yours faithfully: You don't know the name of the
person
Yours sincerely: You do know the name
•Your signature with your full name written under
it
