This session will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
Abstract:
Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.

Letter writting
- 3. Letter Writing Definition: A written or printed communication directed to a person or organization is called letter.
- 4. Importance of letter writing Letter writing is an essential skill. Despite the prevalence of emails and text massages, everyone has to write letters at some point. Letters of complaint, job applications, thank you letters etc. A letter reflects the character and communication skills of writer. It is also a screen free activity, keep mind sharp etc.
- 5. Letter mechanics Pronoun (point of view) • The use of personal pronouns is important in letters. For examples: I, he, she, it, we, they, you. • It is perfectly natural and appropriate to refer to yourself as I and to the reader as you.
- 6. Letter mechanics Focus and specificity • Write concise and purposeful letter. • Do not write overlong or pointless letter. • Do not be rude. • Do not try to impress with your writing. Like please, very very very thank you.
- 7. Parts of letter Heading Salutation Subject Body Closing Signature
- 8. Heading Sender's address: tour address should be displayed in the righthand section. This will enable the person that you are writing to, to reply. Receiver's address: this address should be displays beneath your address on the left-hand side, remember to include the name of the person that you are writing to (if know). Date: this should be displayed on the right side of the page on the line below your address and should be written in full formal e.g.,1st january,2001.
- 9. Salutation or greeting • The salutation or greeting is the opening like bear mom following by a comma for a friendly letter or a colon for business letter. • Dear sir: • Dear mom,
- 10. Subject Subject is an essential part while writing the letter it mentions the matter that is further discussed in the letter and provides a title to the description.
- 11. Body • The body is the heart of letter. This is where you write your message. • Things to be remember: • Introductory paragraph • Discussion paragraph • Concluding paragraph
- 12. Closing The closing is the ending of your letter such as sincerely followed by a comma.
- 13. • Yours faithfully, • If you do not know the name of the person end the letter this way. • Yours sincerely, • If you know the name of the person, end the letter this way. Ending a letter
- 14. The signature is where sign your name at the end of letter just below the closing. Signature

Formal letter • Formal letters are letters to people who we don’t know on a personal level, in other words formal letter are also known as business letter. • For example: we may write to find out information and apply for job etc. Types of formal letter • Cover letter • Follow-up letter • Resume • Accepting job letter • Reference When writing formal letter: • No commas outside the main body of the letter • Use short sentences and simple words. • Use proper paragraphs • Sample formal letter
