1. Factual Essays
Crafting a factual essay is a task that demands a meticulous blend of research, analysis, and
articulate expression. The challenge lies not only in presenting information but in doing so with
precision and clarity. Unlike more subjective forms of writing, factual essays require a rigorous
adherence to accuracy and a commitment to representing information objectively.
One of the initial hurdles is the research phase. Gathering reliable and relevant facts, statistics,
and evidence can be time-consuming and may necessitate thorough exploration of various
sources. The credibility of the information is paramount, requiring a discerning eye to sift
through vast amounts of data to identify the most reliable and trustworthy sources.
Once the research is complete, the task shifts to organizing the information coherently. Creating
a logical structure that guides the reader through the essay is crucial. Balancing the presentation
of facts and providing insightful analysis without veering into subjective territory is a delicate
art. Transitioning smoothly between different points while maintaining a clear and concise
narrative adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, achieving a writing style that is both engaging and authoritative poses its own
challenges. Striking the right tone—authoritative without being overly didactic, informative
without being dry—is a nuanced skill. The language must be accessible to a diverse audience,
ensuring that complex information is conveyed in a way that is easily understandable.
Citing sources correctly is yet another hurdle in the process. Adhering to the required citation
style, whether it be APA, MLA, or another, demands meticulous attention to detail. Missteps in
citation can undermine the credibility of the entire essay, making the task even more intricate.
In conclusion, writing a factual essay is a demanding undertaking that requires a blend of
research skills, organizational prowess, and linguistic finesse. It demands a commitment to
objectivity, accuracy, and clarity. Overcoming these challenges, however, can result in a piece of
writing that not only informs but also persuades and engages the reader.

2. My Personal Experience In College
After I graduated High School, I moved to Logan, Utah to pursue my Bachelors at
Utah State University. This move was actually quite easy. My mom drove down
with me to help me move into my apartment and all of my belongings easily fit
between our two cars. About halfway through the semester, everything kind of fell
apart. I hated my program, I didn t like the atmosphere of the university and I
wanted out. It was not anything like I was hoping, and I decided I was definitely
not going to stay. However, I wanted to finish out the semester and tie up all my
loose ends before I transferred. After a couple weeks of heavy research, hours on the
phone, and lots and lots of emails, I was set to transfer to BoiseState University
located in Boise, Idaho. The first of my problems was fitting all of my things in my
one car. I was by myself this time and there was nobody to help me. Therefore, I
spent hours packing, unpacking and repositioning things until my car looked like
the king of Tetris had payed me a visited. I could only see out of the driver s side
window and the windshield. I didn t care though, I just wanted everything to fit and
miraculously it did. I moved in December. Idahoand Utah freeways are treacherous
during that time of year. I set out on my drive knowing the roads were going to be
slick but I would just take my time. After I was about an hour into my drive, it started
to snow, which wasn t uncommon. Another twenty minutes passed and it was
snowing pretty heavily.
3. Sororities In The Odyssey
Like many traditions, the idea of sororities and fraternities are a common present
day tradition. Sororities and fraternities act as a home away from home and as a
family away from family. These social clubs try their best to follow in their past
sisters or brothers footsteps. Similarly, the author of The Odyssey, Homer, expresses
the Greeks are motivated by their obligation to appease their gods. As a result, the
author communicates the importance of religion within Greek society and the
traditions that follow. Throughout The Odyssey, the value of traditions is emphasised
through the numerous customs that are follows strictly in the mythological era. The
Greeks are portrayed to be non subservient people, however, when it comes to the...

Enraged, Poseidon bewails to Zeus about being crossed and soon strikes [the

The evolution of digitised and networking capability within the Australian Army is
a multi staged activity that will affect all aspects of the way Army operates as part
of the Joint Force. Digitised systems provide a means to execute command and

digitised systems will greatly assist the closing of digitisation gaps, in particular for
Brigades entering the Readying phase of the FGC and will ensure the effective

5. Equal Pay For Women And Equal Equality
The divide between genders has been fought over for many years, dating back to the
1800 s where families started to grow and an income increase was needed, as a result
women began working alongside men in factories, but for much smaller pay. As the
world started to modernize, social norms related to women started to change. Women
were granted the right to vote through the nineteenth amendment and were provided
access to health care and birth control. Women should be seen as equal to men and
given equal opportunities.
Equal pay for women and even minority groups should be expected, and should not
be an issue today. In 1963, women who worked full time, year round made 59 cents
on average for every dollar earned by men. In 2010, women earned 77 cents to men
s dollar. That means that the wage gap has narrowed by less than half a cent per year
(National Committee on Pay Equity). The Equal Pay Act attempted to make equal
pay and get rid of discrimination in the workplace has continued to slowly progress,
but it is still extremely large today. As of 2017, women earn about eighty cents for
every dollar earned by men. Furthermore, the amount of time the Equal Pay Act is
taking is ridiculous and should immediately change women s income in the
workplace. Equality for pay doesn t look like it will be happening very soon, Based
on its research, the Institute for Women s Policy Research estimated in 2015 that

and overheard in County Sligo are both poems which give us an image of the role
of woman in the past, and how she contributed to society Through reading both
these poems, it is apparent that both of the poets backgrounds have influenced the
poems. In the past, women were not considered important in society, and their
efforts were not valued, not even by woman herself. Women were expected to stay
at home, and become housewives. Woman lived in a society in which there was
pressure to get married, wither by family pressure or societal pressure. It was not

Woman Work starts with a long list of chores that she needs to do. This highlights
her massive workload that she has to deal with. This verse is the largest to
emphasise all the jobs that she must do. In Woman Work, I feel the atmosphere is
very sad. She is very tired, and needs to rest, which shows she is unhappy. In the
first verse, she repeatedly uses the word I . This emphasises that no one helps her
with her chores, and she is responsible for everything. The woman in Woman work
is not well off. We know this as she says Star shine, Moon glow, you re all that I can
call my own. This implies that she does not own materialistic possessions. It could
also imply that she does not even own her own time, as it is always taken up by
doing the household chores. The structure of the first verse uses no punctuation.
This speeds the first verse up, to reflect her life, and all she has to do. The use of
concrete nouns in the first verse also suggests all she has to do. The woman in
Woman Work could be angry with her situation. She says Storm, blow me from
here This could reflect her anger and aggression at her situation, as storms are
ferocious. We know that she wants to get away. She says Blow me from here This
implies she wants to get away, and is unhappy. It can also imply that she feels
trapped, and feels oppressed, as she can not leave. The last four verses of

What finally breaks down Charles Foster Kane is having Susan leave him. His
need for control, and the inability for Susan or others to continue to comply with
that need, send him into a frenzy in which he destroys the room Susan was staying
in during their huge vacation in the Florida Everglades. From the room he takes a
snow globe, and he is heard saying the words rose bud the first time by someone
else. He walks into a hallway that has many mirrors, and this symbolizes Citizen Kane
as a whole. This scene reflects the fragmented nature of the film. The life of Charles
Foster Kaneis told through the perspectives of several other people, and, due to this,
as no person can be entirely unbiased, truthful, or even knowledgeable of the facts
when recalling interactions with another person, we never get a complete picture of
who Kane really is. Dozens of figures of Kane can be seen through the mirror, and
this relates to how there are many images of Kane that can be derived from listening
to the recollections of those who were close to him.
If we listen to Leland s story, we learn of a controlling and insecure man who wants
love but doesn t know how to love. When he recalls the interaction with Kane in
which he confronted him, he describes Kane (as we can see by how he is
portrayed) as being wholly self interested. This is especially true when we consider
the line You re too valuable here, that Kane told Leland when Leland said he wanted

Yes, people should use less plastic water bottles. The history and supporting

reader the complications associated with assigning a single cultural identity to the
Caribbean people. Even though the article is intended by the author to represent the
Caribbean people as a splicing of a number of different cultures, the processes Hall
highlights are noticeable on an individual scale in the main character of Jamaica

Annie is literally her mother s daughter and her identity is completely based on her
mother s actions. The mother daughter relationship in Annie s quest for identity has
been a favorite topic for critics. H. Adlai Murdoch s article, Severing the (M)other
Connection, deals specifically with that relationship and its affect on Annie s identity.
Murdoch separates Annie s growth into phases, the earliest of which being an intense
attachment with and affinity for her mother that does not foreshadow the conflict to
come. The critic writes that, There can be no doubt, then, of the extent to which
Annie John identifies with and valorizes the maternal image at this stage (Murdoch

most critics would argue the validity of Annie s perspective. The memory of the
trunk and its contents, which the narrator seems to enjoy, Murdoch calls
representations of Annie s fragmented self and her need for self identity and self
expression; they are put into place here as a symbolic depiction of Annie herself, and
thus of the mother s enclosure containment, limitation, possession, and direction of
her daughter s life and identity (Murdoch 330). This view calls into question the
narrator s reliability concerning her journey away from the mother imposed identity
into an identity of her own. This examination of her reliability will be a key element

When I first enrolled in BMI 5300: Introduction to Biomedical Informatics class, I

organizations and the importance of data capture and analysis in improving public
health. One of the major misconceptions I had was that this course would not cover

According to AMIA and American Health Information Management Association
(AHIMA), Biomedical informatics is the interdisciplinary, scientific field that studies
and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for
scientific inquiry, problem solving and decision making, motivated by efforts to
improve human health (as cited in Hoyt et al., 2014, p. 4). Biomedical informatics
focus not only on clinical, medical and public health fields, but also focuses on
dental, nursing, pharmacy, medical imaging and veterinary fields (Hoyt et al., 2014,
p. 4).
Bioinformatics is sub field of biomedical informatics that is concerned with
biological data, particularly DNA and genomic information, as opposed to clinical,
public health or other data (Hoyt et al., 2014, p. 5). Bioinformatics is a relatively
new field started by the Human Genome Project and have built databases for a
variety functional data as a means for accelerating research (Maojo Kulikowski,
2003, p. 515). Although health informatics, biomedical informatics and
bioinformatics have different scope, historical background and application of
scientific foundations, all three of the fields uses technology to collect data,
information and knowledge which can add positive contribution to medical, clinical,
public health and research in some way shape or form. I learned that biomedical
informatics is a broader term that includes

The Military Life of George Washington
George Washington, a man of many military achievements, brought ragtag farmers to
military men, and destroyed the most powerful army in the world. Washington was
appointed the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army on June 14, 1775.
Washington, who had military experience before serving in the Continental Army, had
never commanded an army of this size. He was appointed leader of the Continental
Army because John Hancock, president of the Second Continental Congress, thought
of him as a man of great character who would help unite the colonies. Brilliant

Training the farmers was a hard task for George Washington since there is only one of
him and thousands of other farmers who did not know what to do. Also, the colonies
had a poor track record of working together effectively. During the Battle of Saratoga,
Ben Franklin created a military alliance with the French. The French in return sent
Marquis de Lafayette, a high ranking general in the French military, to meet with
George Washington. Lafayette was sent over to give the farmers supplies, and to help
train to become true military men. Training the farmers took a lot of hard work to get
them prepared for the war they were entering. An example of farmers being turned
into fighters to defeat the British Army occurred during the winter of Valley Forge.
The farmers were forced to overcome adversity such as disease, starvation, and lack of
warmth. They needed motivation which George Washington gave them. Washington
encouraged them that they have what it takes to defeat the greatest army in the
world. The only thing that Washington could not help with was the pain. Mind over
matter. A positive attitude can accomplish anything. Washington could not stress that
enough. Another way that the farmers became military men was their fight at the
Battle of Bunker Hill. They did significant damage to the British. giving them self

of Tesco is the story of a retailer s successful evolution: its diversification into new

It is a well known fact that boys are built to be stronger and bigger than girls.
However, that does not mean girls are too fragile to play sports with guys. Girls and
boys are all made the same and i don t understand why they cant play together. They

humans and it doesn t matter what gender. Sports motivate athletes to compete and

18. I Felt A Funeral In My Brain Diction
In the first stanza the speaker talks about a funeral in her brain which indicates she
could be imagining a funeral of her own. The speaker mentions that in her
imagination she sees mourners coming to the funeral to mourn her death. It almost
seems as if she were trying to describe the mourners as if they were in disbelief but
the reality was slowly hitting them. Emily Dickinsonused the rhyme scheme ABAB in
this stanza. There is only one type of metaphor in this stanza which is when the
speaker says I felt a funeral in my brain (1). Emily uses this word play in order to
make the reader wonder why she is not seeing the funeral but instead feeling it.
The second stanza the speaker infers that she sees all the mourners being seated
and then a drum starts to progress the funeral. The drum that the speaker talks about
could be compared to a fading heartbeat as she says her mind is going numb, which
can indicate her spirit is fading away. Emily Dickinson stuck with the rhyme scheme
ABAB throughout this stanza as well. She also uses no metaphors or literary

ceiling. Is sprinkler protection required in the concealed space below the insulation?
In response to your question we have reviewed NFPA 13, 2013 edition as the
applicable standard. Our informal interpretation is that sprinklers are not required
within the concealed space. The standard specifically addresses this arrangement as

of a concealed space in truss construction not requiring sprinklers. The original
proposal and the comment for this section for the 2007 edition was found and the
substantiation and committee comments did not indicate the type of insulation or
how it is should be attached to the joist. There are two other sections that specifically
mention batt insulation in 8.15.1.2.6 and 8.15.1.2.17. Section 8.15.1.2.16 does not
specifically mention batt insulation and does not appear to be a requirement that only
loosely laid insulation to be used. The thought of when the sprinklers activate in

The Repeated Failure of the League of Nations in Keeping Peace
The League of Nations repeatedly failed in keeping the peace because, first of all
Hitler went against the Treaty of Versailles and started World War 2 yet the League
of Nations failed to react. The Treaty of Versailles also failed because Mussolini in
Abyssinia went against the league and Manchuria also contributed towards the
failure to keep the peace. The structure of the league didnГ‚ t help as the council
only met once a year. The power of the league was very weak as there was no
military force. Finally the lack of strong nations joining the league contributed to the
failure of the League of Nations.

The League of Nations also failed because Mussolini, a dictator from Italy, prepared
to invade Abyssinia. Abyssinia then asked the League for help; while the League of
Nations talked to Mussolini he used the time to send an army into Africa. The
League of Nations then suggested giving Abyssinia to Italy. Mussolini ignored the
League of Nations and invaded Abyssinia. In secret however Britain and France
agreed to give Abyssinia to Italy, the Hoare Laval Pact.
Manchuria became a factor or the failure of the League of Nations in 1932 when
the Japanese army invaded Manchuria and threw out the Chinese residents. They
then set up their own government called the Г‚ ManchoukuoГ‚ . When china asked
the League of Nations for help it sent a group of officials led by Lord Lytton to
study the problem, this however took a year, but in February 1933 they ordered
Japan to leave Manchuria.
However Japan refused to leave Manchuria and instead left the League of Nations.
As many countries had important trading links with Japan the League of Nations
couldnГ‚ t agree on sanctions or even ban weapon sales. Britain and France didnГ‚ t
want a war therefore nothing was done. This showed the League of Nations as weak
and powerless therefore adding to the failures and breakdown of the League of
Nations.

Q1. What do you need in order to succeed in Formula One? The case studies
emphasise that all three racing teams focussed on different strategies. Their strategies
changed within the environment and circumstances, but what is overwhelmingly
evident is that a team needs all the elements to be in synergy and for focus to be on
every aspect of the strategy. As the old adage, A team is only as strong as its weakest
link. This means that in order to be successful and to maintain success, you ve got to
get all the elements right, the overall package, the budget, the designer, the engine,
the drivers, the organisation and every aspect, from what is deemed most important

Whilst all of these technological developments were taking place in the F1 arena,
Ferrari chose to focus on it s long term strategy which focused on the development of
the V6 turbocharged engine. This essentially meant that their drivers were now
competing with cars that no longer held a competitive advantage, in fact the cars
were now considered inferior. The fundamental flaw in this instance was that Ferrari
had ignored the change in trends in the immediate environment and stuck to what
they felt worked. The strategy was to exploits their strengths but neglected the
opportunities that presented themselves. They had failed to respond to an immediate
threat, thus exposing their weaknesses and allowing themselves to retrogress to the
extent that Ferrari was no longer considered a threat. This was further compounded
by the problems that were being experienced between Audetto and Laude, Ferrari s
strength was derived somewhat from the relationship between Team Boss and Driver
and with Audetto not being able to accomplish this, it impacted on the performance
of the team. In addition, the heavy reliance on the driver, meant that the team was
left at the mercy of it s driver, this was evident when Laude was unable to compete
for six weeks, this allowed the competition to close in on the lead that Ferrari had
established. What

Evaluation on the movie The Physician The movie, The Physician, is a fascinating
tale that captivates you after only a few minutes of watching the film. Philipp Stolzl,
the director of the film, really outdid himself to bring this story to life. It is definitely
a movie that may interest people that love medicineand the medical field. This is my
personal opinion, therefore, I am sure that many people would disagree with me
because not everybody has the same tastes in movies. But from my perspective the
film, The Physician, was very well done and did not have a bland story. So to me, this
film was a great movie.

It does not bother me to see surgeries or things of the sort. However, movies always
seem to depict these kind of things in a gruesome, cringe worthy kind of way. This
movie, only showed two scenes of actual surgical procedures and these were not to
graphic yet, it was still clear what was going on. One of the scenes was even
humorous. On a personal level, I am not a huge fan of gory, bloody scenes, so while
watching this film, I was glad that I did not have to avert my eyes or fast forward any
scenes for being too graphic.
Finally, the last aspect that caught my attention was, the story in general. The movie,
The Physician, is based on the novel by Noah Gordon, The Physician. I had never

Global Business Country Profile (Part 1): Getting to Know Israel

This paper examines a mixture of historical and currents facts about Israel.
Specifically, the country is placed under the microscope in order to explain history of
origin, geographical location, statistical demographics, government structure, and
military structure. Together, these findings based on detailed research suggests that
Israel is a country rich in complex history that predates centuries before its inception.
Keywords: Israel, Jewish, economy, technology, Middle East
History of Origin
One can say that the modern state of Israel is a direct result of World War II.
Following the war, The British Mandate for Palestine (1920), which directed the
administrative control by Britain of the territory formally under Ottoman Empire
rule, ended on May 14, 1948. According to the United States Central Intelligence
Agency (2016), or CIA, the United Nations then proposed a plan that would divide
that same area into Jewish and Arab states after millions of Jews were displaced
from Nazi Germany. On the same day, inspired by the dream of Jewish
sovereignty, Israel was declared a state in Tel Aviv (State of Israel Proclaimed,
2010). David Ben Gurion then became the first Prime Minister of Israel and is
widely known as the father and architect of the country. The declaration of Israel was
a move widely rejected by Arab Nations and resulted in massive tensions

Edwardian jewelry pieces are specialized vintage jewelry pieces that highlight the
beauty, elegance, romantic designs with a fabulous cut of a gorgeous gemstone.
Actual Edwardian style of jewelry was flamboyant yet conventional. The influence
of romance can be seen clearly on the different jewelry pieces especially rings and
each jewelry item is blended with the beauty and grace of this era.
Edwardian jewelry pieces including sapphire engagement rings are skillfully crafted
and exceptionally unique. They had a variety of features in common, including the
ones mentioned here:
Wedding and ruby engagement rings of this era are specifically defined by the
bands made of platinum metal. This is the era when platinum gained popularity and
was used extensively for the settings of various precious gems including diamonds,
emeralds, rubies, etc. Apart from rings, other jewelry pieces were made using
platinum in this era. When it comes to rings, craftsmen used some unusual yet
classic cuts to redefine the beauty of gemstones. Edwardian era jewelry is the perfect

The Media Should Respect Privacy of Public Figures
How much privacy of the individual is protected under the United States
Constitution? Every one is entitled to the right of privacy, but to what extent is that
privacy granted? Public figures are constantly being harassed and photographed by
the media. Some photographers and reporters will go to any means, even illegal
actions, to get a picture or story. However, public figuresare human beings like
everyone else, and the media should give them more privacy. The media needs to
operate with more respect for both laws and for moral and ethical codes of conduct.
There are laws establishing the privacy of an individual, and the media needs to
extend these rights to public figures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the Supreme Court ruled in the 1964 Sullivan v. New York Timescase
that vulnerability is taken as a price of admission to the public arena. Thus, the
privilege to cover public figures is almost unlimited, and public figures have few
privacy rights.
People reasonably expect privacy inside a house or fenced yard not visible from
the street and inside living facilities such as in hospitals and nursing homes.
Photographers need permission to both enter and photograph these private places.
However, anyone is fair game to be photographed and have their picture published
if the photo was taken from a public place. This includes people seen through the
windows of their own home (Dill, 178). However, one New York Court ruled that
photographers shooting inside a restaurant needed permission because the
restaurant was a public place for purposes of dining, and patrons dining there
should reasonably be allowed to dine in peace (Dill, 177). Even though it is
currently legal to photograph public figures in the privacy of their own homes,
ethically speaking it does not mean these pictures should be published. However,
because ethical codes are not working, there needs to be legal reform.
Additionally, breaking and entering or using trickery, impersonation, fraud and
disguise to gain admission to a private area are illegal. Even though these acts are
illegal, some members of the media still break the law to get the picture or story they
want. Often times,

I also made a digital call for artists to be distributed to schools. I edited the Word
file from last year to update it to the version of this year. I basically paraphrased the
sentences, changed the dates names, and replaced the images of the official poster
and prize winning works.
I was also assigned a research task for the upcoming Japan Day event. I researched
about some Japanese group of artists and summarized their activities in U.S. and
Japan as biographies. They are to be used for the board of directors to discuss them as
candidates to perform at Japan Day.
There was one job involving translation. The company regularly publishes a press

the image files submitted on WuFoo and saved them with an entry number and name.
I also uploaded them on the company s Dropbox account.

There are many benefits of fitness which are hard to ignore and extend well beyond
ones weight. Regular physical activity can help reduce risk for numerous ailments
and health conditions and help to improve one s overall quality of life. Enhanced
physique often comes along with a good fitness schedule, keeping one motivated.
Fitness is the condition of being physically fit and healthy, however becoming active,
staying active or boosting your level of physical activity is difficult for some to
achieve. No matter what the circumstance, the health benefits of physical activity far
outweigh the risks of getting hurt. Research shows that regular physical activity can
help protect you from heartdisease, stroke, high blood pressure, obesity, back pain,
osteoporosis, self esteem, stress, and many other health problems. Daily physical
activity, such as a brisk walk through your neighborhood, is not only beneficial, but
safe for most people. Starting slowly allows one to stay safe and slowly build their
endurance to not only keep their risk for cardiac events, albeit rare, from
occurring, but to keep one from being deterred by exhaustion or defeat. Slowly and
gradually increasing your level of activity encourages one to keep going as they see
their increased and positive progress. Keeping a fitness schedule strengthens your
heart muscles, lowering blood pressure while raising good cholesterol and your heart

In the ever changing world of customer needs and expectations Dr Pepper Snapple
was faced with an increased customer focus on energy drinks. This area, when
exploited correctly, is a high growth and high margin beverage business. In early
September 2007, Andrew Baker had his marching orders. He emerged out a long
discussion about entering the energy drink business and off he went.

Dr Pepper could always do nothing at this time. During the stand down they could
evaluate mergers, joint ventures, or buyouts as they market strengthens.
Making a decision Given the track record of Dr Pepper Snapple and looking at the
SWOT analysis I feel that Dr Pepper should introduce an entire new product line.
They can leverage their ability to manage a diverse brand business, the leverage they
have in the RTD segment, and the strengths that the business as a whole has.
Implement the choice FDr Pepper has a great opportunity to penetrate the energy

the ever changing customer needs and ever changing expectations. The only
remaining concept is how to do it.

Composting, it s gross, it s stinky, and it can be downright atrocious, right? Wrong!
Well, partly. Composting can be gross sometimes with food and other weird things
decaying, but the advantages outweigh the risks don t they? Good soils that can help
gardens, trees, and plants are worth having a little stink. Many people think
compostingis hard, though it can be easier with the right equipment, the right c:n
ratio, and the right boosts that will help kick start your pile.
Compost bins have many different flavors or types. Some include tumblers (or
revolving drums), orbs, and cylinders. Tumblers and orbs are types of compost
bins that helps turn your compost easier. Revolving drums are normally on rollers
or can be hand cranked. They are made to spin easier, and are regularly enclosed.
They also can be vertical to turn over, or horizontal to be rolled like a barrel. Orbs
are bins that are octanal shaped or round. Orbs are very similar to revolving drums,
but are rolled on the ground to mix the compost. Some even have numbers that can
help you remember when you last turned it.6 Cylinders are simple designs that are
useful, and can be easy to move. Cylinders can be open or closed. Open cylinders
have no top or bottom, but has something of a wall around it. These can be easily
moved and mixed. Closed cylinders are commonly made of a thick plastic, and
contradicting the open cylinder has a top and bottom. They have ventilation and near
the bottom there is a door to take
34. Measuring the Rate of Rotation in a Simple Electric Motor
Have you ever wondered how an electric motor works? If you have wondered and
never got an explanation this experiment will show you how it works. The
objective of this project is to measure the rate of rotation varying in the size of the
magnets. For this project I will need 4 C batteries, a permanent marker, laser
tachometer, a metric ruler, scissors, a screwdriver, copper wire, wire cutters,
electrical tape and Neodymium magnets. This experiment is a simple example of
how nearly every electric motor works. It shows you how magnets and electricity can
be used to generate movement. There have been many people that have perfected the
electric motor through time. Nikola Teslawas the first to invent the AC (alternating
current) induction motor in 1888. The AC (alternating current) created magnetic
poles that reversed themselves without mechanical aid, and caused the revolving part
of the electromagnet to spin around the motor. The concept that Tesla used in his
motors are still used today. Electric motors rely on the force of an electromagnet, as
does every electric motor. An electromagnet is created when a current flows through
the copper wire. The electromagnet forms a magnetic fieldaround the coil. A
magnetic field is the area around a magnet where its force can be detected. This
magnetic field causes another force which is called polarity. Polarity describes two
areas (north and south poles) of the magnet were the force of the magnet is the
strongest.

35. Persuasive Essay On Makeup Vs Makeup
In a society where our appearances are virtually everything, there is an abundance
of ways to achieve the look that is wanted. Since it is pricey, and sometimes even
unaffordable to get plastic surgery (undergoing a surgical procedure to restore,
reconstruct, or alter the body), people decide to use makeup to get the look they are
wanting. Buying makeup products can get expensive as well, but thankfully there
are more affordable alternatives. For example, there are drugstore makeup brands,
which are the products sold at Target, Walmart, or grocery stores; and, there is high
end makeup brands, the products sold at premium retail stores. Since not everyone
can afford the high end makeup or do not want to pay a premium price on makeup,
people have found drugstore brands that mimic high end brands. The base of all
makeup is foundation, a skincolored product that covers imperfections and makes
the skin look flawless. In particular, two popular foundation brands are MAC
Studio Fix Fluid, and Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless. MAC is considered a
luxury product, and Maybelline is a value brand. These are both great products,
have very similar qualities, and in the end, will almost give the consumer the same
look. When comparing the prices, Maybelline s Fit Me foundation is roughly
$7.00 and MAC s Studio Fix runs around $30.00. Maybelline foundation would be
best to be worn as an everyday foundation, and MAC s would be more for special
occasions, or every once in awhile. If consumers were to make Maybelline s Fit Me
foundation as their everyday foundation, and MAC s Studio Fix for special
occasions only, users would need to buy Maybelline s Fit Me more often. In the end,
the price could even out. Also, both brands are 1.0 fluid ounces, so consumers are
getting the same amount of product from both companies.
For most consumers first impressions are everything, so the way the company
packages their product matters. Maybelline and MAC come in sleek glass bottles,
Maybelline s Fit Me bottle is square, and MAC s Studio Fix is round, both with
black lids. Unfortunately, neither product comes with a pump, so users have to pour
the product from the bottle straight onto their hand, a sponge, or a brush. Since

Tampa Bay Water is a seawater desalination plant located in Tampa, Florida. Their
method of desalination of ocean water or brackish groundwater is another method to
obtaining water from fresh surfaces or groundwater sources. This could be used to
replace the need for a water supply dam. There are several different technologies that
exist to remove salt and other impurities from ocean water. The two most commonly
used methods are thermal distillation and desalination. Thermal distillation copies the
natural water cycle by using heat to create a vapor that is converted into freshwater.
Desalination is a process that removes some amount of salt and other minerals from

The major advantage of dual purpose facilities is they can be more efficient in

opportunity to use oceanic water resources. If the appropriate conditions are
present, a desalination plant could potentially be used to replace an existing or

effective, alternative source of water. On top of that the distillation process
produces one of the highest quality water, with a range of 1 to 50 ppm tds, tds is
also known as total dissolved solids. With the recommended California standard

before. The disadvantages of desalination is that in order for a desalination plant to
be a viable alternative to the water supply dam, the users must be located fairly
close to a coast or large source of oceanic water. The desalination technology can
also have adverse environmental impacts of its own. The plants are very energy
intensive and must dispose of a highly concentrated saline byproduct into the ocean,
which can cause adverse affects to marine life in the surrounding and exceeding
areas. Waste brine can also
39. what makes an excellent film Essay
What makes an excellent film?
It took me a little while to come up with an answer to, What makes an excellent
film? There really is no answer, actually. I believe that an excellent film is within the
eyes and emotions of the audience. After researching and discovering what actually
won Oscars and Golden Globe awards, it came down to what the people thought, and
the popularity of a film. It is extremely hard to predict what will win these awards
before the movie is even released to the public.
Before really thinking about the subject, some obvious traits of what I would
consider an excellent film would be superior acting, beautiful scenery, etc., such as
many present categories in the Academy or Golden Globe Awards. Of course I could

The only other time that this had happened was in the 1950 s, for Ben Hur. These
definitely have something to do with what makes an excellent film, but I also believe
that the personal connection and emotions that someone has with a film is just as
important.
I feel that the emotional connection that people make with a film is, in most cases,
an extremely important quality that directors can emphasize on in /their work.
Whether it is a realistic movie that is based off of a true story, or a children s
Disney movie, anyone can experience a sense of a character s point of view.
Depending on the type of film (horror, suspense, comedy, drama, etc.), this
emotional connection can vary among different people. In a classic Disney film
such as Bambi, children can relate to Bambi. They can easily understand the type of
experiences that he goes through such as having friends (Thumper, a joyous rabbit,
and Flower, a loving skunk), playing on an icy pond, and even going through an
emotional event of losing a loved one (the death of Bambi s mother).
In general, people rarely want to watch films that they know they won t enjoy. This
is why there are so many types of films, and different people have different views on
what makes an excellent film . The media can have an
40. First Wave Immigration
The First Wave of Immigration
Between 1840 and 1860, the first wave of immigration hit the United States. With the
lot of them being German and Irish, they seeked not only economic security and
political stability, but a better and newer life. With the Industrial Revolution in full
motion, part of these dreams were fulfilled, but arriving in the United States came
with much more consequences as well. Though the Irish and Germans had different
experiences in the United States, both most definitely faced prejudice from the
Nativists. The Irish experience in the U.S. was harsh. They fled Ireland due to the
Potato Famine, and arrived here for opportunity, and even more importantly, a better
life. They were also exceedingly poor, so that being ... Show more content on

Nativists feared immigrants due to the fact that they might out populate natural born
Americans, out vote natural born Americans, and overwhelm the United States in
general. Also, during this time, these immigrants refused to let go of their culture;
German immigrants continued speaking German and Irish immigrants continued
speaking Gaelic, even though they spoke English as well. Nativists eventually formed
the group Order of the Star Spangled Banner , which evolved into the American party,
the Know Nothings . The Know Nothings promoted violence against immigrants and
advocated for much anti immigrant restrictions and policies. Hence why both
German and Irish immigrants faced much opposition and hatred from Americans,
even when they primarily arrived in the United States.
In conclusion, German and Irish immigrants faced prejudice solely because they
were, in fact, immigrants and un american . In reality, these immigrants shaped
America in several ways, and made the United States an exceptionally diverse
country. Their work helped fuel this country s expansion and prosperity. Extending as
far as today, anti immigrant feelings are still integrated in our society, and situations
are still similarly felt. After all, the so called Americans in the 1800 s were
technically descendants of immigrants, that serves to truly show the hypocrisy in their

An automobile accident can be a traumatic experience whether it is a minor fender
bender or a serous collision. An accident victim has to contend not only with the
emotional stress involved with the incident but also with medical and auto repair
bills. The car wreck lawyer helps people who have been injured and who have
suffered due to the negligence of another driver. Every detail of an automobile
accident is important but many details can be difficult to remember. It is important to
write down all of the details regarding the wreck as soon as possible so that important

fields like people in the construction industry. An experienced car wreck attorney
knows what it takes to win and how to get the best deal for their clients. They
know what to expect and what questions to ask. Plus they know what information

A Thought of Pure Evil Imagine having to hide a secret for many years, only to
realize that it will soon be revealed. The Possibility of Evil is a short story written
by Shirley Jackson. When an old lady goes to her local post office to deliver the
secret letters she has been writing for years, she accidently drops a letter and her
covert is revealed. Miss Strangeworth seems like the kindest lady in town, but after
one of neighbors discovers her secret, the entire village realizes that Miss
Strangeworth is not who she says to be. The Possibility of Evil uses components
such as written letters, Miss Strangeworth and roses to symbolise Adela s character
and her intentions. The letters Adela sends to her neighbors symbolise evil and they

The roses in her garden symbolise Miss Strangeworth s character and reveal that
appearance can be deceiving. The author writes, Tourists who sometimes passed
through the town stopped to admire Miss Strangeworth s roses... My grandmother
planted these roses, and my mother tended them, just as I do. Miss Strangeworth
never gave away any of her roses, although the tourists often asked her (Jackson

Pleasant street. She is very similar to the roses and the roses reflect her character.
Miss Strangeworth s outside demeanor can be compared to the beauty of the roses,
but her thoughts and feelings compare to the thorns. For example, the townspeople
recognize her as an elegant old lady with pretty dimples and her dainty walk.
However, they do not know that she writes evil letters and masks a petty spirit
behind her sophisticated manner. The roses are a significant part of the story
because they reflect Adela s character and show that Miss Strangeworth s appearance
is deceiving. Miss Strangeworth is very much like the roses in her garden, they both
appear kind and charming, but their inner beauty is not the

focused more on informing the community of their locations and products than
actual sales. This leaves in opening in the market to capitalize on people s desire to
eat locally and organically. In addition to being for mainly informational purposes
these sites are visually unappealing. Sites like farmersmarketonline.com have an
appearance like that of Craigslist.org and are reminiscent of the days of the early
internet. The market can be captured by offering consumers a site that resembles a
real farmers market visually. SWOT Analysis Strengths

in the start of Mike s Market. This strength will help with the formation of the
company since one of the price points for users of the site is marketing expertise and
help with online sales. This strength will also come into play in creating initial buzz
about the site to drive traffic and increase awareness.

Throughout this experiment we have learned a great deal more about electricity
and how it is created. Before this was performed research was done on our materials
and their functions, hoping to be more educated on how they would help us solve
our problem. We were able to make a well educated hypothesis from our newly found
information. Our prediction was that the lime would have the most voltage because
in our research we found that it has the most citric acid in it. Citric acid is modeling
the chemical energy in a battery causing the most voltage. The independent variable
applied was the type of fruit tested while the dependent variable was the voltage
measured in the multimeter. Some of the controls kept consistent were the types of
nails, the type of multimeter, the DCV setting on the multimeter, the nail placement,
and the wire placement. Our hopes for the outcome of this experiment is to have
successfully created three fruit batteries and for us to compare their voltages.
Materials and Methods For the experiment gather a lime, an orange, an apple, a zinc
nail and a copper nail to model the essential parts of a battery. The zinc nail
represents the negative charge while the copper nail imitates a positive charge. To
measure this energy created in the fruit an analog multimeter was used. The
procedure used is below.

47. Healthcare Reform By Signing The Affordable Care Act (
Aca )
In 2008, Obama accomplished the goal of healthcare reform by signing the
Affordable Care Act (ACA). The ACA aims to control healthcare costs and give
Americans accessibility to health insurance. One method to accomplish this is Title
IX, Sec 9001 of the ACA, known officially as Excise tax on high cost employer
sponsored health coverage , which implements a tax on overly generous health plans.
This part of the ACA remains one of many issues that has drawn ire from both
Democrats and Republicans. The intent of this excise tax, nicknamed the Cadillac tax
, is to target generous health plans that increase overall healthcare costs. While
implementing this tax would raise revenue to subsidize other parts of the ACA and
keep healthcare costs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The World War 2 era of wage freezes eventually allowed tax free fringe benefits such
as health insurance. Thus, companies were encouraged through tax benefits to provide
their employees with health insurance, resulting in many workers today receiving
health insurance from their employers. However, economists believe this policy
benefits the rich and drives up healthcare costs. By examining the healthcare system
and its costs, economists observed that healthcare took up a larger chunk of the US
economy than that of other developed nations. Consequently, the implementation of
the Cadillac tax on overly generous health plans was meant to keep healthcare costs
under control by discouraging nonessential care and encourage preventative care.
While initially only meant to affect the rich, which is where the nickname Cadillac
tax comes from, the Cadillac tax has profound implications for union workers as
well. Because unions often negotiate in terms of healthcare benefits instead of
wages are already witnessing the effect of this tax on current negotiations.
According a survey conducted by Kaiser, 25% of employers expect to pay the tax
by 2018 if they did not make any changes to their health plans currently. Since the
Cadillac tax will affect the gold plated, or generous health plans that many unions
negotiate for their workers, union workers are a prime example of a group that is

48. Delight In The Iliad
According to what Edmund Burke demonstrated in his On the Sublime and the
Beautiful, 1756, two terminologies, delight and sublime , were defined. As declaring
that the self preservation would eventually lead to pain and danger, Edmund says that
people are delightful when they have a clear sense of the consequences of self
preservation, but are not affected by them; meanwhile, sublime excites the delight .
By connecting these definitions to the Homeric Hymn, I view The Iliadas the perfect
match of Edmund s interpretations. Gods in the Iliad need human beings only
because their pain and suffering can fulfill god s selfish pursuing of delight and
sublime . Gods look for delight on personal wills by intervening or not involving, and
multitudinous pains originated from god s process of pursuing sublime .
Certain gods pursue delight by harming people on their personal wills. Apollo, the
god of the sun, has been a typical reflection of how selfish all gods deal with
mortals in the Iliad. At the beginning of the story, Apollo had already swept a fatal
plague through the army men were dying and all because Agamemnon spurned
Apollo s priest (I 11 12). The entire cause of spreading the plague was that the
daughter of one of his priests was captured as spoil of winning a battle by
Agamemnon, the leader of Achaean army. By only defending his illusory reputation
and the feedback for his prayer, Apollo led Achaean innocents suffer from plagues.

49. The Ethics Of Business Ethics Essay
Resource A discusses how ethics is crucial in business. There are three key ideas used
to understand this. Firstly, making ethically wrong decisions tend to cause more
upset than other general mistakes as purposeful unethical actions are not as easily
forgiven or forgotten. Secondly, ethics provides businesses with a broader
understanding of everything to do with their business. Business ethicsis effectively
just business it its larger human context. Thirdly, being unethical can tarnish the
public image of a business which can lead to a drop in sales and profits. There is a
myth in the business world that business and ethics don t mix. The reason ethics are
considered to be relevant to the bottom line is that regulation is the price business
pays for bad ethical strategy.
The whole point of business ethics is essentially to define and defend the basic goals
of prosperity, freedom, fairness, and individual dignity. This goes along with the 3 C s
of business ethics; compliance, contribution and consequences.
Business ethics are the foundation of business, despite business thriving on
competition, it survives on the basis of its ethics. Comparing business with a game
(practices) makes it easier to understand things like for example how having players
who cheat can impact badly on the business. Ethics is a way of thinking which can
defined under Solomon s eight rules.
Resource A provided me with a lot of new information about how important ethics

50. Colonialism, Aboriginal People, And Racism In Canada
Colonialism, Aboriginal peoples, and racism in Canada
In this research paper, I will be explaining how western colonialism and racism
destroyed the reputation of aboriginal peoples in Canada. The reason why I chose
this topic because it shows the strong relationship to anthropology and after taking
aboriginal studies 30, it also shows that I have a clear understanding about the history
of aboriginal peoples in Canada, the struggles they have been through over the past
decade and the challenges they still face today in modern day society. I ll be
addressing these issues in a couple of paragraphs on the discrimination and the
inequalities of these minorities and how they had to assimilate into European culture,
leaving their way of life behind them.
The history of Canada is the era of where colonization all began towards aboriginal
peoples. Over the past decades, aboriginal peoples have been mistreated and
misused by the white Europeans. They have been oppressed by Canadian society
that we are known still by today and continue to live under racism resulting in gender
and class oppression. The history of colonialism has been playing a big part in the
way of how aboriginal people have been constructed and impacted on how aboriginal
people are treated and viewed in Canadian Society. They have been dealing with the
struggles, inequality, and discrimination that we have been putting them through for
over three centuries, we ve been also failing them with Canada s racist policies
51. Conflict Style Assessment For Michael Rosales
Conflict Style Assessment for Michael Rosales Throughout this semester, we have
learned a great deal about conflict styles in which we may encounter in our lives.
Surely everyone has experienced conflict, but not everyone handles the situation
the same way. This paper is an assessment on how I have dealt with and learned my
own ways of dealing with conflict throughout my life, as well as how others close
to me have dealt with conflicting situations with me. Created by William W.
Wilmot, I was able to utilize these assessments in ways I have never been able to
statistically see how conflict is handled in my inner circle of friends or family. The
assessments that I have taking and given are to four of the people that have been
closest to me in my lifetime. Even though we are very close, being around these
individuals for a while surely brought many conflicts. Now that I was able to
analyze which styles of conflict I used with each person, thanks to Wilmot s
assessments, I can now see the difference in each category of conflict. First I will
be covering my own styles on how I handled any disagreements, arguments, or
conflicts with my most recent ex girlfriend Megan, and my uncle Robert (Rob). The
conflicts covered will not be one single situation but rather all of them as a whole,
since there were so many conflicts throughout my life with these people. I will start
off with Megan. Upon completion of how I handled our conflicting situations, I was
able to see that out of the

53. Themes Of Saving Private Ryan
Saving Private Ryan is a theatrical masterpiece that incorporates many universal
themes that almost all people can relate to. The movie follows a squad of U.S.
soldiers as they battle through the trenches of World War II. Directed by the great
Stephen Spielberg, the movie is claimed by many to be the most accurate
presentation of war in any movie to date. The movie includes several themes that
helps captivate the audience and truly help people understand just how horrible war
is. The idea of losing loved ones frightens even the toughest of us, and being lost in a
foreign land scares many others. Both of these themes are thoroughly explored and
propelled onto the audience to experience. The extremely accurate depiction of war,
the universal themes that everyone can relate to, and the film being a theatrical
masterpiece are all reasons why everyone should watch Saving Private Ryan.
The movie follows Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) and his squad as they go on a hellish
journey through war in order to save a mother s only living son. On this journey
they experience many nightmare like events, such as horrific physical injuries and
emotional damage, that most people cannot even fathom. The movie starts out
with U.S. soldiers being physically sick and emotionally distraught while riding
inside amphibious landing craft. These soldiers are becoming ill over the event
that they are about to experience which is the notorious battle of D Day . These
images of the soldiers becoming physically just imaging what could happen during
the battle are a look into what many soldiers experience before they enter into
battle. Saving Private Ryan is the first, and most accurate, depiction of war to date.
The movie shows the emotional tolls that soldiers experience, like in the landing
craft, but it more thoroughly displays the physical violence that goes on in war. Just
minutes after those soldiers in the landing craft are seen becoming ill, they are
storming the beaches of Normandy, and many end up dying horrible deaths. The
images of soldiers being violently injured and the excessive gore in this scene is
used to further show just how horrible war truly is.
There are a plethora of reasons why someone should watch Saving Private
54. John Stuart Mill s Conception Of Utilitarianism
John Stuart Mill is a Utilitarianist. The idea of Utilitarianism is to decide on what in
life is judged as right or wrong. Utilities are what can be considered as useful things .
Mill s conception of Utilitarianism is different from that of Bentham s views.
Bentham views morality in a two sided spectrum what is right is right and what is
wrong is wrong. However, Mill believes there is a depth further than this. As, most
people believe you should avoid pain and bring in as much good or happiness as
possible. Mill is also considered a hedonist. Although not in the modern sense of
hedonism, it is the ethical idea that satisfaction comes from both good and bad
pleasures. Mill s ethics heavily revolves around the principle of utility, which ... Show

There are high pleasures and low pleasures. For example, high pleasures being
obtaining a certain knowledge. While low pleasures would be having that extra
piece of food you shouldn t have or sexual pleasures. However, Mill believes,
pleasure is all about quality, not the quantity. Which is why It is better to go for
higher pleasures than lower pleasures. Mill states that, It is better to be a human
being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool
satisfied. (pg. 162, para. 1) To this extent, it is better to not be happy trying to
obtain higher pleasures than to settle for lower goals. Thus, his criterion is set up
to judge differences in the quality of pleasure. However, the question remains, Why
do people do not pursue high pleasures if it is better? Because the lower pleasures
are not as easily achievable. We are not all equally exposed to these higher
pleasures. There are distinguishing qualities between psychological hedonism and
ethical hedonism. Psychological hedonism is a detailed doctrine that claims that it
gives the motive of someone s behavior. Ethical Hedonism is what should be done.
It also judges our actions and let s us know the consequences of said actions.
However, while these two ideas are different, it isn t necessary to reject one if you
subscribe to the other. Mill s system of Ethics takes these two ideas and connects
them. Mill makes a
