Argumentative Analysis Essay Topics
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Argumentative Analysis Essay Topics" can be quite
challenging, requiring a combination of critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to present
a persuasive argument. The difficulty lies not only in selecting a compelling topic but also in
analyzing and evaluating various perspectives to build a well-supported argument.
Firstly, choosing a suitable argumentative analysis topic requires thorough research to identify
issues that are relevant, debatable, and have enough credible sources to support different
viewpoints. The process involves sifting through a multitude of potential subjects, assessing their
complexity, and determining the feasibility of constructing a convincing argument around them.
Once a topic is selected, the challenge shifts to conducting in-depth research to gather evidence,
data, and examples that support the chosen stance. This phase demands the ability to critically
evaluate sources, discern reliable information from biased content, and synthesize diverse
viewpoints into a coherent and persuasive narrative.
The analytical aspect of the essay involves dissecting each argument, considering
counterarguments, and presenting a nuanced perspective. This requires a keen understanding of
logical reasoning, as well as the ability to anticipate and address potential objections that readers
might have.
The writing process itself is no less demanding. Crafting a well-structured essay with a clear
introduction, a compelling thesis statement, and logically organized body paragraphs is crucial.
Each paragraph must contribute to the overall argument, and the essay should flow seamlessly
from one point to the next. Striking the right balance between presenting evidence, analysis, and
personal insights while maintaining clarity and coherence is a delicate task.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Argumentative Analysis Essay Topics" involves navigating
through the complexities of topic selection, extensive research, critical analysis, and effective
writing. It demands a combination of intellectual skills, time, and effort to create a piece that not
only persuades but also engages the reader in thoughtful consideration. If the task appears
daunting, it's worth noting that assistance with similar essays and more can be sought from

Causes Of Bipolar Disorder
Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, is a mental illness that affects many
Americans both young and old. It is a chronic disease that presents itself in many
ways, including depression, hyperactivity, thoughts of grandeur, unusual amounts of
energy and even suicidal thoughts. A person that is diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder
exhibits mood swings that are extremely high, also called maniaor hypomaniato
extremely lows called depression with moments of normal moods in between (
Manic Depression, n.d). The first signs of bipolar disorder are usually apparent in
late teens or early adult years, but have been noticed in early childhood years. Even

When experiencing a manic episode or high one may experience increased energy,
lack of concentration, poor judgement, lack of sleep, thoughts of grandeur, euphoric
mood, extreme irritability, increased sexual activity, impulsiveness, loud incessant
talking, and risky behavior that is out of the norm. These feelings and behaviors can
lead a person to believe that they are all powerful, paranoid and even filled with rage.
Because of these feelings, many turn to more detrimental behaviors such as gambling,
spending sprees, and increased sexual
The Games Of The Game
The producers of the game 7 Days to Die have released the latest update of the
game, Alpha 15. 7 Days to Die is an early access produced by The Fun Pimps game
company. It is a sandbox survival game, set in a post apocalyptic zombie world.
Players scavenge, collect resources, hunt, farm, craft, build bases, and fight off
against zombies. The game has a fully buildable and destructible world, in which
players can alter the environment. It also features single player and multiplayer,
and a wide variety of game setting options to enable people to play in a variety of
styles. As one of the main game creators, Joel Huenick, described it, its like the
Walking Dead, meets Fallout, meets Minecraft . The release of Alpha 15, marks
the latest advancement of this game. Previously, the developers had allowed the
option for players of the game to opt in to help test the update before release. I had
been one of the people, who opted in to testing it. In a previous article, I had wrote
about my early impressions of the update. Now, I intend to describe the details of
the update s stable release, and my more establish experiences of the game s new
dynamic under the update. The Alpha 15 update has made quite a few significant
changes to the game. The game s landscape design system and graphical elements
have been changed. A new terrain generating system now allows for a more natural
looking and varied terrain. Now you can face mountains, valleys, canyons, and other
pieces that make a
The White Working Class That Caused These Problems
Was it really the White working class that caused these problems? Or was it the
companies that outsourced their jobs overseas? The white working class are also
known as the hillbillies. They are people who have gone through a lot of suffering
but also have made a lot problems on their own. While I definitely think that it is up
to the former White working class to dig themselves out, I m unsure that they re the
ones responsible for this mess. Loosing their jobs to outsourcing and loosing their
sense of hope has led them to follow Donald Trumps campaign because he
sympathizes with them and promises them economic and social changes. These
families have struggled with poverty, domestic violence, drugs, and
unemployment. One of those families was J.D. Vance s family. Vance grew up in
the Rust Belt of Ohio, into a struggling, poor, abusive family. Vance escaped his
hardships by enrolling into the Military and going to school. However, other
people weren t as lucky as he was to get out, other families were still stuck in
Hillbilly Middletown. Things were going good for these families until the 1970s
and 1980s came along. This is when things took a toll, industrial jobs were cut,
causing a down ward spiral for everyone in Ohio. This is when the alcoholism, drug
use, and domestic violence became a norm. For about a century, the region seemed to
be on a upward spiral. Middletown s streets today are full of shuttered storefronts and
drug dealers, (Rothman,New Yorker).
Ernest Hemingway Accomplishments
An important figure in twentieth century American literature, Ernest Hemingway
received both critical and popular acclaim for his novels, stories, and poems. At
times, his public image seemed to overshadow his stature as a serious writer.
Nevertheless , all of his life experience as a big game hunter, a bullfight aficionado,
and as a deep sea fisherman served greatly to enhance his overall body of work
because he drew heavily on these experiences in his writing(Scribner Laidlaw 2).
Ernest Hemingwaywas a writer, before this he volunteered and experienced many
different things before becoming a very popular writer.
Born in Oak park, Illinois, Hemingway was educated at Oak Park High School.
After graduating from high school in 1917, he became a reporter for Kansas City
Star, but he left his job within a few months to serve as a volunteer ambulance driver
in Italy during World War I(1914 1918). He later transferred to the infantry and was

The Importance of Counseling Essay example
A successful leaders use praise effectively. Identifying shortcomings and then
telling soldiers what must be improved are a leader s responsibility. Praising
soldiers for their improvement and proper performance is even more important. To
have a soldier to continue on the right step you need and will have to give them a
positive counsel more often than what you probably want to. A sincere and honest
praise lets soldiers know that their leader appreciates their efforts. Praising
subordinates is a simple act that takes little time but will provide many benefits.
With a few positive, encouraging words and a pat on the back, the leader can
recognize and reinforce desired behavior and performance. A soldierwho feels that

Leaders owe their soldiers the best possible road map to success. Leaders help their
soldiers solve complex problems by guiding them to workable solutions through
effective counseling. Developmental counseling is subordinate centered
communication that outlines actions necessary for soldiers to achieve individual
and organizational goals and objectives. It is vital to the Army s future that all
leaders conduct professional growth counseling with their soldiers to develop the
leaders of tomorrow. Leaders counsel their subordinate NCOs and junior enlisted
soldiers. There may be situations where officers counsel junior enlisted soldiers.
The point is this: every leader has an obligation to develop their subordinates
through developmental counseling. The Army values play a very important role.
Simply put the values of loyalty, duty and selfless service require leaders to
counsel their soldiers. The values of honor, integrity and personal courage require
both leaders and soldiers to give straightforward feedback and, if possible, goal
oriented tasks or solutions. The Army value of respect requires us all to find the best
way to communicate that feedback and goals. Some soldiers may perceive counseling
as an adverse action, perhaps because that is their experience. Developmental
counseling most definitely is not supposed to be an adverse action. Regular
developmental counseling is the Army s most important tool for developing future
Megacities Research Paper
Megacities are populated with Millions of residents; these overcrowded cities
cause issues with inadequate water supply, in many cities. Shanghai, China and
Karachi, Pakistan experience scarce water supply daily; some residents go days or
weeks without water because of shortages, contamination, and high prices. Around
300 million people are suffering from water shortages (Tao, Tao, and Kunlun Xin).
Deaths have arisen due to water contamination, killing thousands of people yearly.
Karachi water is being stolen and sold on a daily basis; making low income families
pay extremely high prices to get the essential water they need. Shanghai and Karachi

Protesters burn tires and throw stones requesting to have water once a week. An
angry mob of young man has set fire to trash cans and thrown bricks at cars that are

The pipelines leading to their neighborhoods have run dry and the alternative water
supply systems through water tankers carrying water from government sanctioned
hydrants have been inoperative for some inexplicable reason (Kaleem, Moosa, and
Maqbool Ahmed). No response is given to the protesters from Karachi Water and

are defined as a belief that some covert but influential organization is responsible for
a circumstance or event. An uprising problem in American culture is the spread of
the perpetuation of misinformation through many online sources and social media
platforms. A part of this issue is the publishing of fake news and conspiracy theories,
mainly by authors and editors who are seeking compensation for their information .

Outline Of A Interview On The Interview
How to succeed on the interview
As a famous singer prepares for a huge concert, he/she sees their success, double and
triple checks their apparatus, and calms their anxieties by playing their favorite song
on their iPod. It might not be this stressful of an emotion while preparing for a job
interview, but preparing mentally and physically is a significant element that plays
a important role in getting the job and successes that we try for. Interview can
indeed be stressful, especially if we have not been interviewed for an opportunity
before. However, we will be successful, if we follow these steps. To give ourselves a
best chance to succeed in the interview, we have to research as much as possible
about the job, rehearse with mock interviews, and plan for the day well in advance.
The first step in this process is to research the company, and the position we are
applying for. Most companies in today s world have a mission statement that outlines
their business structure, priorities, and goals. For example, The Body Shop, which
sells body soaps and lotions, strongly against animal testing. Dropping hints at the
interview that we concern about animal rights will impress your panel of
interviewers. Another way to improve our knowledge about the company is to read
over the company s annual report and organizational structure. Specifically, we can
actually check their Web sites, use online public directories such as Hoovers.com or
Yahoo Finance, and request data from the
My Team s First Robotics Competition Of The Season
It was two in the morning, five hours before my team s first robotics competition of
the season. We d already worked tirelessly, but were planning one last test run before
going to bed.
The robot was driving over the ramp when, all of a sudden, it stopped. The tank
treads that we had researched and trusted had snapped in half.
Most of us yelled in frustration, but not our team leaders, Max and Matt. They picked
up the robot, brought it back to the work table, and within an hour, they had
orchestrated a creative solution to the snapped tread. Watching the way they managed
the situation, I felt inspired: I was only a freshman but I wanted to know what they
knew.
Over the course of the next two years, I learned from Max and Matt the different
ways to cut metal, how to solder wire, how to write basic code for the robot, and
how to design mechanisms that would ensure the greatest reliability. I learned how
to document my work in an engineering notebook and how to explain to judges the
way our team operates. As I gained more experience and grew more committed to
the team, I began to come into the robotics lab during lunch and on Sundays. I was
always eager to keep working.
By my junior year, I was ready to take on a leadership role. That year, as at the start
of every season, all participants in the league watched a video detailing the tasks our
robots would need to perform in the various competitions. The hardest and most
valuable of the year s challenges was to design
Should Torture Be Allowed In The United States
Joshua Betancur
Professor Molinari
English 101
20 October 2015 Should torture be allowed in the United States? Since the time of
Ancient Greece, there has been an ongoing debate whether torture should be
permitted in the United States of America. Torture is define as the intentional use to
inflict physical or physiological pain to control and gain advantage over an individual.
Torture methods administered during the medieval times were much more malicious
than today s punishments. In the United States, torturing individuals is forbidden
regardless of the circumstance. Using torture as a punishment has been outlawed by
the U.S. Supreme court since the 1890 s, and is now included in the Eight
amendment. We Americans see ourselves, as the good people in the world, not bad
people who torture others. Opinions among Americans have shifted in light of the 9
/11 attacks and the ongoing war in Afghanistan, torture is much more accepted than
ever before. There, are many reasons why torture should be justified especially
during time of war, however, it goes against many American morals. Even if
someone deserved to be tortured, which many who are tortured in the end are found
to be not guilty of the crime. Nobody has the right to deliberately harm another
human being with the intention of causing the maximum physical and emotional
pain. Torture is the most twisted, sadistic, cruel behavior imaginable and it is as
inhumane as our rival countries. A popular YES commentator had the audacity to

Essay about Jacob A. Riis
Jacob Riis book How the Other Half Lives is a detailed description on the poor and
the destitute in the inner realms of New York City. Riis tries to portray the living
conditions through the В‘eyes of his camera. He sneaks up on the people flashes a
picture and then tells the rest of the city how the В‘other half is living. As shocking
as the truth was without seeing such povertyand horrible conditions with their own
eyes or taking in the experience with all their senses it still seemed like a million
miles away or even just a fairy tale. The reality of this book hit the people of New
York right between the eyes. Riis was once ascribed the label of lower class society,
but worked his way up the ladder of success and entered into... Show more content on

Although he does possess quite a bit of bigotry that boarders on the line of prejudice
when it comes to African Americans he recognizes that they are suffering from
racism and he sympathizes with them. With his sympathy comes an attitude of
superiority, he looks down on the people in poverty because he was once there and
knows with hard work, like he has done, you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps
and make something better with your life.
Riis covers many aspects of the poverty that has stricken the tenement lodgers but
when talking about one end of the spectrum (poor) you also need to discuss the
other (rich). With out telling people how the other half of the other half lives he s
leaving out a crucial part of how people live in New York. By avoiding, that topic he
s giving the illusion that all people in New York live in such cramped housing as
tenements. When in reality New York was and is presently not composed of strictly
tenement housing. There was a В‘rich part of town where the thought of not having
any money was never even contemplated. In addition, where the industrial revolution
only touched higher societies on positive outcomes such as economics the industrial
revolution only made it harder for the immigrants to get ahead. By this, meaning, that
they worked harder, got paid little to nothing, and still had to compensate for the short
comings that where being pressed against them because
Mental Illness In Gran Torino
Our experiences shape who we are. Gran Torino by Clint Eastwood is a moving
film that depicts topics such as racism, mental illness and sacrifice in a modern
setting without sugarcoating. In the film, korean war veteran and curmudgeon
Walt Kowalski becomes an unexpected hero and father figure to nextdoor
neighbour Thao Lor. Gran Torino begins in a funeral home, where protagonist
Walt is mourning the death of his spouse, grimacing at the reality of being
widowed and the disrespect of his children and their families. After the death of his
wife, Mr. Kowalski does little other than drink his weight in beer daily and make
critical comments towards his neighbours and surrounding community. Besides the
company of his yellow labrador Daisy, Walt is alone with his thoughts. Because
Walt acquired racism through experience where the race he discriminates was an
enemy in reality, it is not truly one of his traits and can be undone as he is human
and is able to overcome his mental illness, which is the reasoning for his intolerance.
Initially, Walt is racist because he has been trained not to trust koreans and will not
be bothered to distinguish the difference between who he had fought and his
neighbours. He struggles to realize that he is no longer at war and mentally is unable
to move on from that state of mind. In a scene following Walt s first threat towards
the gang, it is evidently identified that he is still living in the past through an
interaction between him and Father
Rhetorical Analysis Of Mascot
In his article, In Richmond, students seek to revive Rebel mascot published by The
Washington Post, T. Rees Shapiro says that a group of students, graduates and
parents started and signed a petition to bring back an old mascot because many
students think or have the concept that the mascot will be a catalyst to improve the
school s spirit, the athletic occurrence and others; yet, because the mascot
represents rebels , which shows relations to the confederacy and slavery, it is
controversial. However, proponents of the mascot change such as Charlie Bonner
says that although the idea of a Confederate soldier appears to bring bad memories
to many people and many schools and universities such as the University of
Mississippi, got rid of their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when Shapiro states that past a 1200 people that signed and the
1950s decade that Shapiro explained that the Freeman School started to use the
mascot for sports events; if for instance Shapiro used words such as exactly 1200
people or stated one year that is between the 1950s, the information would not be
credible because the number of people was still growing and there is no proof of
the exact year that the school started to use the mascot in the article (Shapiro).
Another example may be the number people that signed the petition and the year
that Douglas Southall Freeman School opened, which is 1954 (Shapiro).
Therefore, because Shapiro used a large number of people in which, for example,
of a County, is somehow significant because the numbers show a positive argument
of the article. Also, by showing the year that the school was opened, the year may
represent a phenomenal proof of the argument because it may be showing that the
story of the Confederate flag may have started in between the decade when the
school was created. Nevertheless, given that many readers would want source
links because they may think that source credibility is the most important element,
Shapiro s unwavering path to credibility may be at risk. Many readers analyze
many texts or articles because of their website and author s transparency to the
readers to access the source links. For this reason, the capacity for readers to see
where the information came from, may be a way to not lead the website into a
façade and a way to guarantee that the information is reliable and credible. In spite
of the fact given that many readers seek credible sources that possess source links,
the fact that Shapiro used words such as some, often and more than, he may not be
showing a strong certainty
Why Do Dog Sneezing
Dog Sneezing
By Tim Delaney
Jan 4, 2013
Are you concerned about your dogs constant sneezing? If your dog is sneezing, it s
not always a reason for concern. Dog sneezing is often a natural reaction to
particles, pollen, or some other irritant in the dog s nasal membranes. Sneezing is
not always due to allergies or sickness; however, if your dog is suffering from an
illness like kennel cough (Bordetella) or some other bronchial infection, then you
should consider putting your pet on all natural pet health supplements, which can help
support healthy respiratory function in your dog. One product that has proven to be
an excellent solution to dog sneezing, is called Ox E Drops.
There are two types of dog sneezing activities. There is the normal involuntary
reaction to foreign bodies in the dog s membrane that cause the dog just like
humans to sneeze as a natural reaction to remove the irritant; there is also a natural
voluntary habit called Reverse Sneezing. This is a normal activity that dogs will
use voluntarily to remove a discomfort from their nasal passage or throat. This is
akin to the habit of gagging. Pet owners often see their dog gag as if they are about
to vomit this is not always the case gagging is a normal function (in most cases it s a
voluntary activity) to remove discomfort or irritants from the throat. ... Show more

In contrast, Reverse Sneezing looks like a sucking in of the lips accompanied with a
shaking of the head motion (these are not the only symptoms or reverse sneezing but
the most common symptoms). If your dog s sneezing symptoms appear more serious,
or, are accompanied by other symptoms or signs of illness, owners should take their
pets to the veterinarian for further

Research Paper On Deletion
Deletion
A deletion happens when part of a DNA molecule is not copied when DNA
replications occurs. The part that is not copied during replication can be an entire
chromosome or even a single nucleotide. A nucleotide is made up of a phosphate
group, nitrogenous base and a sugar molecule (deoxyribose). Adenine, Cytosine,
Guanine and Thymine make up the 4 nitrogenous bases in DNA. DNA has a
complementary strand and a master strand. When C is present on the master strand,
the complementary strand will have G present. A pairs with T and C pairs with G. If
the original strand reads CTGGAG than an example of deletion would be CGAG. A
deletion can alter the functions of a protein and result in a disease or abnormality. The
outcome of the deletion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A point mutation occurs when one nucleotide is deleted. For point mutations, an
entire base pair can be deleted or a base from the master strand can be missing.
This deletion can create a frame shift in certain cases. A frame shift can shift the
way that DNA is read. A chromosome deletion occurs when a whole section is
chrome is deleted. To qualify as a chromosome deletion more than one base pair has
to be deleted or it would be considered a point deletion. Cystic Fibrosis is caused by a
point deletion. The CFTR gene is made up of 250,000 DNA nucleotides and is found
on human chromosome 7. The CFTR protein works as a channel for chloride ions
that move in and out of the cell. This helps maintain the balance between salt and
water. CFTR is short of Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator. A
change in the CFTR gene can negatively affect the CFTR protein. The deletion of
three DNA nucleotides can cause a CFTR mutation. When the three DNA
nucleotides are delete the amino acid Phenylalanine is deleted. Phenylalanine is
located at position 508 in a protein sequence. This results in the build up of mucus in
many parts of the body. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) can affect a patient s respiratory,
reproductive and

Chang s Bistro. What they do before they head over there is dress us in disguises,
they dressed up as stereotypical Chinese children . Cartman had a bamboo hat on
and Butters had a smaller one on and they also wore clothing that a typical Chinese
child would wear. Cartamn also told Butters that they had to talk like the Chinese.
He told him that they have to say Herro and Pwease a lot and that would make
them seem Chinese. Once inside they started talking with a Chinese accent and kept
their eyes squinted. When they see a Chinese family the two go up to them and in a
Chinese accent start asking them when the invasion is going to be, but they try and
justify themselves by telling them in every other sentence that they are Chinese and
start talking in Chinese but its actually just gibberish. We can see how race is
represented in class, Cartman chooses stereotypes and uses them in the scene. What
is happening is they are making fun of Chinese by the clothing, accents, and
physical appearance with the squinty eyes and big buck teeth. To be more specific
Cartamn says Because we re going to make them think... we re one of them. [pulls
out a Chinese peasant hat] Here, put these teeth in! [hands him some buck teeth] And
just say herro and prease a lot. [puts in his own buck teeth and squints his eyes] Oh,
herro prease. Ping pong ching chong (). This can be tied to the lecture when we were
talking about ideology. We can tie this into Marxist ideology because it is distorting
and mystifying. This scene can cause many problems for the Chinese. All the things
shown are negative stereotypes of the Chinese, the accent, the clothes, the physical
features its just used to humiliate them. What this causes is racism towards the
Chinese. Many people can think that its funny to use their accent and do it
consistently and then it may become a norm or a habit to them, this
The Role Of Sex In A Streetcar Named Desire
Sex is described to us in many ways throughout our life, one being the birds and the
bees and us knowing that as a beautiful way to form new life. Another view is in
the Bible which is waiting until marriage. Sex and desire are present forces in the
world. Sex is known to be between two opposite sexes who love each other and have
physical attraction towards each other.
The physical act of sex had never been so explicit on stage until A Streetcar Named
Desire came out in 1947. The New Orleans street, Elysian Fields, is an urban jungle
where the story takes places. Like the wild, sex and violence go hand and hand. In this
1947 play, sex is a part of aggressive competition, male dominance, and submission
rather than romance. Sometimes sex doesn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The violence in the play has a sense of realism in the way women were treated and
how everyday life was in New Orleans. Domestic violence was common and men did
have a lot of authority over their women. All relationships have their lows, but
violence should never be apart of it. Domestic violence is seen throughout the
characters in the play. Rape and Suicide are also other forms violence in the play.
Stella and Stanley are part of a very abusive relationship. Stanley is the main
character that progresses the violence. The first violent scene comes at the poker
table where the men are drinking and are at the peak of their physical manhood
Stanley gives a loud whack of his hand on her thigh (Williams 50). It is said that
part of the reason Stella is attracted to Stanley is because of the thrill and power
that makes him a powerful man. This provides Williams view of sex and violence.
Stanley has to show power over Stella proving that he is the boss and more
powerful than his wife while she keeps coming back to him. Blanche tests Stanley s
manhood during the poker game by repeatedly turning on the radio. After Stanley s
demand for the radio to be turned off is ignored, he flips out. Instead of just turning it
off, Stanley throws it out of the window. Stella and Stanley aren t the only domestic
violent relationship in the play. Steve and Eunice get into an altercation upstairs

Essay on Animal Rights
Animal Rights
The 20th century has had more medical breakthroughs than any other hundred years
in history. But there is a price. No significant discovery in this time has occurred
without the use of animals in biological research experiments. Heart surgery, polio,
osteoporosis, diabetes, AIDS, and cancer have all had significant breakthroughs
thanks to these experiments(McCarty 15).
The use of animals in today s world is highly controversial. Our society eats animals
and their products, wears them, uses them for entertainment, and kills some species,
such as rats and mice for being a nuisance. In a society which uses animals in all
these different ways, it is ethical to use animals in medical research. Many medical
advances rely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the direct cost of the animals is small, around 20% of all projects will
involve an element of animal studies in amongst the other research techniques. When
animals are used in research there are strict regulations to ensure a minimum of pain
and suffering for the subjects(UNMC). Ultimately our overall understanding of
diseases rests heavily upon studies of living systems, including animals. In the fight
to save human lives, animals are vital.
The Hot Zone reveals that animal research inadvertently led to an outbreak of
Ebola near Washington DC. But this is a unique case where research has harmed
humankind. The U.S. has recognized the importance of animal research and were it
not for the Animals (Scientific) Research Act of 1986 most scientists would have
been charged with cruelty to animals by now. Because of these laws new drugs are
tested on approximately 1,000 animals before they can be released on the
market(McCarty 81). This law would not exist if government officials thought these
experiments would harm their citizens. In fact due to animal research the human life
span has been increased by an average of 28 years(McCarty 15).
Though animal research has benefited millions of people world wide it has its
detractors. Hollywood celebrities are using their free time to pose naked for
billboards. To protest the use of animals in their make up and garment s
Beyond The Mason Jar Analysis
Beyond the Mason Jar is not just a magazine, it is a project that I put a significant
amount of thought and passion into. The Zero Waste Movement is a movement
that I actively participate in and deeply value in my life. I certainly did not want to
write a magazine about something I had no prior interest in. Not to say that
creating a magazine about completely new information wouldn t be interesting in
some way, but rather that I was able to really invest myself into the topic I chose
because of my close relationship with the topic. Through the creation of Beyond the
Mason Jar, I was also able to discover some qualities about the ZWM that I hadn t

be really daunting when you see pictures of waterways overwhelmed by plastic

realize that we can only do so much to aid in situations like those. However, I want
to show them that the ripples we cast do make a difference. I have found that to be
very true in my life. Every time someone tells me they think of me because of some
plastic they threw away or something they did to be more sustainable, the fire in my

Software Piracy beyond the Street Corner
On January 23, 2003, the world s leading computer networking equipment maker
Cisco Systems, headquartered in San Jose California, filed a lawsuit against China

FutureWei Technologies. In the lawsuit, Cisco alleged that Huawei stole intellectual
property by copying its Internet Operating System (IOS) software and its copyrighted

numerous failed attempts to resolve these complaints directly with Huawei, which

Cisco holds several patents, copyrights, and trade secrets that are critical to its
success. Huawei, on the other hand, chose to make shortcuts and had complete

Persuasive Essay On Site Composts
I believe that there should be composting because it will help out the environment
and will save lots of money. Uneaten foods should not just go to waste and go in the
trash, it should be recycled and used as soil and fertilizer. Schools with space on
their campus can consider onsite composting in addition to or instead ofВ sending
food scraps off site. Most schools send a lot of food offsite or just put it to waste
which they really dont want to do. There are benefits and drawbacks to on site
composting. The benefits are clear: Students see what is happening to their food
scraps; they learn to tend the pile; and they can do research on the pile by conducting
experiments. Students also reap what they sow. At the end of the year there is a

Simulation of Packet level dataset for Network Intrusion Detection
I. Introduction:
The Internet is a global public network and it is the Universal source of information.
It has become a popular medium for commercial activities. Millions of dollars of
transactions occur daily in many financial organizations through Internet. The internet
along with digital technologies has taken human life into much higher levels of
sophistication and ease. The growth of Internet has brought about great benefits to
the modern society; meanwhile, the rapidly increasing connectivity and accessibility
to the Internet has posed a security threat. With the tremendous growth of network
based services and sensitive information on networks, network security is getting
more and more import than ever. The attacks on the Internet have become both more
prolific and easier to implement because of the ubiquity of the Internet and the
pervasiveness of easy to use operating systems and development environments.
Data is often the most valuable asset possessed by an organization and it is the main
target of intentional attacks. Data stored, processed, and transmitted by a computer
system must be protected. Business organizations use the internet as an important
aspect of their business model. In addition to using internet applications, such as the

Then when the water was heated, I noticed that the Mg started to bubble and
continued to fizz even as the water cooled, and I noted that the Mg turned from a
silver to a slight copper color after being boiled in water. I also observed that any
substance containing copper had very remarkable reactions. The pure copper
beads turned black when heated directly over the flame, but not when boiled. The
copper (II) carbonate (CuCO3) was in a powder form and turned black when
heated directly over the flame. When it was mixed with cold water it dissolved in
the liquid creating a milky green liquid. When that same liquid was heated to a
boil, the CuCO3 separated back away from the water back into a powder form. The
Copper (II) Nitrate had the most impressive reactions of all the substances in my
mind.. The substance turned yellowish green and dissolved immediately when
introduced to HCl. When it was heated directly over the flame it melted and started
producing gas in the test tube. When mixed with cold water it dissolved into a clear
blue liquid, but then behaved very violently when boiled with water. Magnesium
Oxide let off gaseous vapors when heated, and also behaved very violently when
boiled with water. This substance also got very hot when mixed with the HCl. The
substance with the least observable changes was NaCl. The most remarkable thing
that this substance did is that it dissolved in every liquid added to it.

Background on Florence Nightingale
Background
Florence Nightingale was born on May 12, 1820, named after her birthplace,
Florence, Italy. Florence s mother Frances Nightingale was from a family of
merchants and enjoyed socializing with people of prominent social standing.
Florence was the exact opposite; she avoided anything where she was the center of
attention. Florence s father William Shore Nightingale was a wealthy landowner. Her
father was able to provide Florence with the best education. Florence Nightingale was
always trying to help anyone around her, even from a young age. She ministered to
the ill and poor people. At 16, she decided to pursue the career of nursing, trying to
help as many people as possible. Her parents were upset and forbid her from

The hospital was on top of a large waste container, which contaminated the water and

water was being rationed.
Florence set to work quickly. Her team and the wounded that were mobile,
scrubbed the entire hospital. Florence spent a great deal of her time caring for the
soldiers. She quickly gained the nick name the lady with the lamp and the angel of
Crimea because she walked the halls at night with a lamp, while caring for the
soldiers. The death rate dropped by two thirds because she improved the sanitary
conditions of the hospital. In addition to improving sanitary conditions, she also
created a number of different patient services to improve the quality of their
hospital stay including, meal services, laundry, and classroom services. Florence
stayed in Crimea for a year and a half. She left once the war had ended. When she
left in 1856, she was welcomed back with a hero s welcome. She was rewarded by
the Queen with an engraved brooch, which later came to be known as Nightingale
Jewel, and also receiving $250,000 from the British government. Florence used the
money to open the St. Thomas Hospital, and the Nightingale Training School for
Nurses. Nightingale gave the nursing profession a boost in the popularity; it no

Foreign Direct Investment Inflows Help Countries
Improve...
There is a long standing belief that foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows help the
countries to have the opportunity to make further improvements on their
economies. In recent decade, this belief strengthened by the fact that faster
growing economies tend to attract more FDIs. Even if the direction of causality
between FDI and growth is not absolute yet, positive impacts of FDI such as new
technology, know how or creating employment are enough attractive for
policymakers. Consequently, investigating factors that pull FDI into country
became a crucial topic in the literature. One of the most significant factors of FDI
inflows is trade openness. The term trade openness refers to the degree, of which
an economy allows to conduct trade transitions with other economies
(Skouloudakis et al., 2013;12). The degree of a country s openness can influence
FDI in various ways. For instance, with high degree of trade openness and low
trade costs, multinational enterprises (MNE) can prefer export rather than FDI.
Therefore, trade openness can negatively affect FDI inflows. On the other hand,
higher degree of trade openness implies lower costs adding to the total cost of a
product and less trade restrictions. MNEs want to take advantage of the low cost of
natural factor endowments (labor, capital, technology). Thus, trade openness can
positively affect FDI inflows (Seim, 2009; 5). Therefore, the evidence of trade
openness as a determinant of FDI is controversial in literature.
Identification Theft And Identity Theft
Identity theft is basically using someone s personal information without their prior
knowledge. One example: is a thief getting ahold of another s person s social
security and driver s license numbers and using that information to get a credit card
or to buy a car. Anyone can become a victim of this crime because of the sheer
countless ways for a person to steal another s identity. Every state has different
requirements for a crime to constitute as identity theft. For example: In Wisconsin:
Identity theft is defined as Unauthorized use of an individual s personal identifying
information or documents, require that a person s identifying information or
personal identification document be used without the person s consent to obtain
money, credit, goods, services, employment and anything in general of value,
(Knetzger, Muraski, 2009). In other wards, identity theft is simply the theft and
use of personal or identifying information for your own agenda without the consent
of the owner of said information. In July of 2014: A Missouri man by the name of
Terry Lee Morrow Jr, was convicted of stealing the identities of his customers who
frequented his car dealership. He was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for his
crimes in which have been labeled as the largest identity theft case in Missouri. Mr.
Morrow operated Edge Auto Sales, and he would use the information he acquired
from people who bought his car s as well as those who simply applied for
Wireless Access And The Transmission Bandwidth
Abstract The demand for wireless access is permanently growing and the
transmission bandwidth is limited. Higher data rates and signal quality is always
desired among the users; therefore a more efficient use of the frequency resource is
needed to fill the user capacity needs. Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) is
used to increase the capacity given by regular multiple access techniques (FDMA,
TDMA and CDMA) using the user position information to provide access to the best
communication channel based on their spatial location. This paper presents Smart
Antennatechniques applied to SDMA systems as an efficient frequency usage
technique.

The spectrum is limited, but multiple access techniques allow a large number of
mobile users to share the same allocated spectrum efficiently and use the same
bandwidth at the same time without degrading the existing quality of service.
Sending and receiving simultaneously information to and from the base station is
desirable among wireless communication systems. Equipping these base stations with
smart antenna arrays enable beam steering in contrast to sectorized single antenna
systems. This make possible to Base Stations to send data to specific users on the
down link or to receive directed data on the up link by reusing channels within a cell
for Mobile Stations (MS), spatially separated by smart antenna arrays.
Cellular system divides the area into cells where mobile units are located and aims
to increase the capacity of the channel with an efficient level of quality of service.
Channel access can be achieved through: Frequency division multiple access
(FDMA), Time division multiple access (TDMA), Code division multiple access
(CDMA), and Space Division Multiple access (SDMA). In this paper we will focus
on SDMA systems.
SMART ANTENNA AND SPACE DIVISION MULTIPLE ACCESS HISTORY
Smart antennas were developed by the military but as the cellular phone users grew
in the 1980s, the commercial area became more interested in the field. SDMA idea
was first introduced in 1947 by Douglas H. Ring when he wrote about a new way to

The Leadership Challenge
The Leadership Challenge
Summary
The Leadership Challenge by Kouzes and Posner (2007) is the result of twenty years
of research on the factors that influence and create great leadership. Through studies
and stories from leaders with various backgrounds throughout the world, the practices
and characteristics that create great leadership are delineated. Leadership is viewed
not as a group of inherent characteristics, but as learned behavior that anyone can
achieve. The goal of Kouzes and Posner s book is to inspire and educate leaders
through transformational leadership. As such, leadership is about mobilizing others
to become and do extraordinary things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The importance of appealing to shared aspirations (2007, p. 26) instead of forcing the
vision of the leader on the followers is paramount to enlisting them in this endeavor.
Intrinsic motivation is achieved when leaders capture the collective imagination of
their followers.
Third, a leader must proactively seek challenges and solutions. Leaders must view
themselves as self efficacious and able to change the status quo. Their passionate
belief in their ability to change things will inspire others to join them in making a
difference. This will give everyone involved in this process a feeling of meaning and
purpose. Leaders must also be continuously aware of their environment and the
factors outside of their organization that may impact them. This ability to exercise
outsight will make a leader innovative and others oriented.
Great leadership overcomes the status quo by taking risks. However, it slowly
moves the group through a series of small steps designed by the leader to
encourage participation and build feelings of success. To continually inspire and
encourage their followers, leaders must be able to break a large task into small
components. This builds self confidence and a culture of active learning and hardy
determination. To build this hardy resilience leaders anticipate setbacks and develop
the ability to learn from them. Leaders will also teach their followers to learn from
adversity and
Classroom Inclusion In The Classroom
For the majority of educational history, students with disabilities are placed in
segregated classrooms in order to protect them. However, recent controversy details
the existence of increased negative impacts on classroom segregation. The importance
of classroom inclusion falls under three main categories: mutual acceptance and equal
treatment of students with disabilities in society, increased personality development
in disabled students, and quicker development of crucial skills (Soponaru, Camelia,
et al. 1). Overall, integrated classrooms appear to be effective, but many regular
educationteachers lack the qualifications to properly instruct integrated classrooms.
Even though some regular education teachers are qualified to teach integrated
classrooms, regular education teachers with integrated classrooms need to be more
thoroughly educated about special needs to ensure an optimal learning environment
for all students.
Regular education teachers with integrated classrooms need to be more thoroughly
educated about special needs to optimize their teaching abilities. Recent advocacy for
inclusion classrooms has left unqualified teachers instructing a range of students;
which unfortunately leads to unfavorable learning environments. According to an
interview with Mary Fair, a regular education teacher, it is common for a regular
education teacher to be placed in a classroom without any prior knowledge on
properly instructing children with special needs; the outcome is a

Difference Between Linguistic And Linguistic Studies
In the following essay, I am going to present a comparison between two linguistic
studies. Constructing another Language Usage Based Linguistics in Second
Language Acquisition by Eskildsen and Sources of Linguistic Knowledge in the
second language acquisition of English articles by Ionin, Zubizarreta, and Maldonado
are going to be contrasted regarding their theoretical frameworks, research questions
and research designs together with the conclusions reached.
Reading the two studies, certain conclusions regarding their theoretical framework
can be drawn. The first article provides Usage Based linguistics view of language
learning as mainly based on experience and item, with particular formulas used at the
beginning and then resulting to general constructions (e.g. Dabrowska 2000;
Tomasello 2003; Dabroswka and Lieven 2005). On the other hand, Ionin,
Zubbizarreta, and Maldonado, study adopts a theoretical framework that primarily
focuses on the aspects of linguistic knowledge, namely the L2 input, L1 transfer and
the inherent linguistic knowledge (Universal Grammar) that influence the acquisition
of English articles by second language learners.
Each of the studies also examine research questions related to their domains. The first
one explores the relationship between the application of Usage Based linguistics and
issues in second language acquisition, as well as how type and token frequencies
used by learners can reflect schematicity of learner language representation
The United States Of America Fought For Independence
The United States of America fought for independence in 1775 until 1783. After
the war, the newly independent Americans needed a new government. The
Continental Congress, after years of debate and drafting, decided to adopt the
Articles of Confederation in 1781. The first draft was proposed in 1775, but never
acted upon. Many drafts were proposed, six, to be exact, and in 1777 it was given
to the states for approval. Maryland was the last to ratify it, given to concerns of
lands to the west. After this was settled, they approved and the Articles of
Confederationwent into effect on March 1, 1781 ( Articles of Confederation. ).
However, none of these six drafts compared to the document of the U.S. Constitution
in 1787. This document changes the union from a loose group of friendly states
allowed to attend to almost all affairs, to states united under a federal government.
Not all of the founding fathers thought that this document was good, though. The
debates were between two parties, the federalists and the anti federalists. The anti
federalists thought that the constitution gave the federal government too much
power. Despite these fears, the constitution was ratified. To this day government
officials argue about legitimacy of laws and whether the federal government or the
states have the right to pass the laws in question. All throughout the time that the
United Stateshas operated under the constitution, it has been a fight between views of

A Wrinkle In Time Movie And Book Differences
A Wrinkle in Time was written as a book and made as a visual movie for all to see.
Both can be compared because both, the book and movie, have many similarities to
each other. But, both also have many differences to come with it. One similarity that
is in both the book and the movie is that Charles Wallace keeps to himself and can
read minds. He doesn t talk to anyone outside the family. The one person that he is
closest to would be Meg because she defends and understands him. Another similarity
is that in both, the book and the movie, Calvin has compulsions. He feels if he should
do something, or go somewhere and the timehe should do so. He also feels if
something is right or wrong in the process of doing so. In this compulsion he had
the feeling of going to Meg and Charles. The last similarity was that in both, the

to the three witches through Charles. In the movie they were lead to the three
witches through a crow. The crow went to Meg s window and Meg had a feeling to
follow it. The last difference is that in the book Meg jumps onto Charles Wallace in
the CENTRAL Central Intelligence building witch causes him to crack his head on
the tile. This scene does not happen in the movie. Instead, Meg just tries to talk to
him through communication, nothing physical happened and no contact was
Effects Of The Vietnam War On American People Essay
The Vietnam War greatly changed America forever. It was the longest war fought
in America s history, lasting from 1955 to 1973.The war had two major effects on
American people. First, the Vietnam War tarnished America s self image by
becoming the first time in history the United States failed to accomplish its stated
war aims, to preserve a separate, independent, noncommunist government. It was
the first war ever broadcast on television. The public was able to see what
happened on the battlefield. Second, one of the chief effects of the war was the
division it caused among the people. Not since the Civil War had America been so
divided. This war would have lasting affects on the United States. To better
understand the horrors of the war, I will narrate the story from the perspective of
my grandfather with a few personal opinions injected in between my grandfather s
thoughts. It was 1961 in, Jacksonville ,Florida when I first enlisted in the marines
at the age of 20. I then served four years and was discharged in 1964. Prior to
enlisting into the Marines I had to prep myself mentally and physically. For six
months I had to whip myself in shape. In the marine corps, you must pass a
physical fitness test every six months. A perfect score of 300 is usually achieved by
doing twenty dead hang pull ups, 100 crunches in twenty seconds and a three mile
run in twenty eight minutes. Now that threw me for loop, but my general told me
you don t have to be perfect to enlist, but to
The Negative Effects Of Invasive Species In The
Galaapagos...
The Galapagos Islands is home to some of the world s most spectacular creatures
located in the Pacific Ocean. Isolated and untouched for thousands of years, the
Galapagos Islands slowly transformed from barren, volcanic islands to rich,
biodiverse lands of scientific research and exploration. The initial acquisition of
species to the Galapagos archipelago was a slow dispersal process of species arriving
to the islands by means of sea, air, and bird carriers (Jackson). However, with the
humandiscovery of the islands in 1535, the rate of species colonization increased due
to human introduction of species such as rodents and insects ( Invasive Species). In
the past century, the number of alien species introduced to the islands by humans
/human activity dramatically increased and a total of 1,579 alien species has been
recorded, with 1,476 of those species becoming established (Toral Granda et al. 1).
Alien species are deemed invasive or noninvasive depending on their cultural value
as social and economic benefits or detriments (Kopelson 10). According to the
European Environment Agency, invasive species are defined as having negative
[and devastating] effects on its surroundings, for example by outcompeting or
predating on native species ( Invasive Alien Species ). The negative impacts of
invasive species is particularly strong on island systems. In the Galapagos Islands,
habitat and biodiversity loss is considerable due to the isolation of the islands that
results in an
Ethical Responsibilities At The Termination Of Their Group
.54#2. What are your ethical responsibilities to group members at the termination
of their group? Explain As a group leader, I have a myriad of ethical
responsibilities to the group members, especially at the closing of the group. I need
to exercise due diligence by using sound professional judgement to make sure each
of my clients have some form of closure before they leave the group. In order to
facilitate and prepare the group members for closure, I wantto address three main
points; I want to consolidate what they learned in the group, understand what they
will do with what they learned, and how will they continue receiving support. Each
member should share during this time. By consolidating what these men learned in
this group, we will be able to understand where each member stands. In this group,
members should have learned how to deal with their stress levels and find meaning in
their diagnosis. Ethically, I needto recap during the last sessions with the clients to
remind them what they have learned so the group experience was not for naught.
Accordingly, I want to summarize with the group what they learned about the
challenges of being HIV positive while encouraging them to use the skills they
learned in the group outside of the group, while keeping the confidentiality of the
group members. Accordingly with my facilitation, the clients should explore and
summarize for themselves what they learned and how they have changed in the
group over the past twelve weeks.
Capitalism In Brave New World
Evolution is a natural process of the world. Dinosaurs are no longer in existence,
and the giant pandas are not too far behind. Yet when it comes to humans, people
have trouble acknowledging that the human race, too, will have to come to an
end; or as Kurzweil predicts, will have to adapt into something better in terms of
evolution. However, the current state of society, in which everyone is strung on a
hierarchy until the day he dies, the singularity will produce a less that favorable
result. Though inevitable and imminent, the singularity will make people
increasingly unhappy by enhancing the socially constructed hierarchies that
separate us from free will (Singularity). Capitalism prevents us from valuing
ourselves, which is why we aren t happy. In Brave New World, it is obvious that
capitalistic ideals drive the society, in which their sole purpose is to consume, as
they believe that [one] can t consume much if [one sits] still and [reads] books
(Brave New World 50). The desire to produce, consume, and earn money at the end
of it all makes us stray from the activities that bring people the most pleasure. We are
so caught up in making money and getting ourselves higher on the never ending
hierarchy that the idea of leisure and happinessis forgotten. Though the technology
that supports capitalism is thought to be highly developed and is a result of our most
intellectual advances, the reality is that we are becoming reliant on technology in
order to make us happy;

Argumentative Analysis Essay Topics Crafting an essay on the topic of "Argumentative Analysis Essay Topics" can be quite challenging, requiring a combination of critical thinking, research skills, and the ability to present a persuasive argument. The difficulty lies not only in selecting a compelling topic but also in analyzing and evaluating various perspectives to build a well-supported argument. Firstly, choosing a suitable argumentative analysis topic requires thorough research to identify issues that are relevant, debatable, and have enough credible sources to support different viewpoints. The process involves sifting through a multitude of potential subjects, assessing their complexity, and determining the feasibility of constructing a convincing argument around them. Once a topic is selected, the challenge shifts to conducting in-depth research to gather evidence, data, and examples that support the chosen stance. This phase demands the ability to critically evaluate sources, discern reliable information from biased content, and synthesize diverse viewpoints into a coherent and persuasive narrative. • 4. The White Working Class That Caused These Problems Was it really the White working class that caused these problems? Or was it the companies that outsourced their jobs overseas? The white working class are also known as the hillbillies. They are people who have gone through a lot of suffering but also have made a lot problems on their own. While I definitely think that it is up to the former White working class to dig themselves out, I m unsure that they re the ones responsible for this mess. Loosing their jobs to outsourcing and loosing their sense of hope has led them to follow Donald Trumps campaign because he sympathizes with them and promises them economic and social changes. These families have struggled with poverty, domestic violence, drugs, and unemployment. One of those families was J.D. Vance s family. Vance grew up in the Rust Belt of Ohio, into a struggling, poor, abusive family. Vance escaped his hardships by enrolling into the Military and going to school. However, other people weren t as lucky as he was to get out, other families were still stuck in Hillbilly Middletown. Things were going good for these families until the 1970s and 1980s came along. This is when things took a toll, industrial jobs were cut, causing a down ward spiral for everyone in Ohio. This is when the alcoholism, drug use, and domestic violence became a norm. For about a century, the region seemed to be on a upward spiral. Middletown s streets today are full of shuttered storefronts and drug dealers, (Rothman,New Yorker).

At times, his public image seemed to overshadow his stature as a serious writer. Nevertheless , all of his life experience as a big game hunter, a bullfight aficionado, and as a deep sea fisherman served greatly to enhance his overall body of work because he drew heavily on these experiences in his writing(Scribner Laidlaw 2). • 6. The Importance of Counseling Essay example A successful leaders use praise effectively. Identifying shortcomings and then telling soldiers what must be improved are a leader s responsibility. Praising soldiers for their improvement and proper performance is even more important. To have a soldier to continue on the right step you need and will have to give them a positive counsel more often than what you probably want to. A sincere and honest praise lets soldiers know that their leader appreciates their efforts. Praising subordinates is a simple act that takes little time but will provide many benefits. Leaders help their soldiers solve complex problems by guiding them to workable solutions through effective counseling. Developmental counseling is subordinate centered communication that outlines actions necessary for soldiers to achieve individual and organizational goals and objectives. It is vital to the Army s future that all leaders conduct professional growth counseling with their soldiers to develop the leaders of tomorrow. Leaders counsel their subordinate NCOs and junior enlisted soldiers. There may be situations where officers counsel junior enlisted soldiers. The point is this: every leader has an obligation to develop their subordinates through developmental counseling. The Army values play a very important role. Simply put the values of loyalty, duty and selfless service require leaders to counsel their soldiers. The values of honor, integrity and personal courage require both leaders and soldiers to give straightforward feedback and, if possible, goal oriented tasks or solutions. The Army value of respect requires us all to find the best way to communicate that feedback and goals. Some soldiers may perceive counseling as an adverse action, perhaps because that is their experience. Developmental counseling most definitely is not supposed to be an adverse action. Regular developmental counseling is the Army s most important tool for developing future

Outline Of A Interview On The Interview How to succeed on the interview As a famous singer prepares for a huge concert, he/she sees their success, double and triple checks their apparatus, and calms their anxieties by playing their favorite song on their iPod. It might not be this stressful of an emotion while preparing for a job interview, but preparing mentally and physically is a significant element that plays a important role in getting the job and successes that we try for. Interview can indeed be stressful, especially if we have not been interviewed for an opportunity before. However, we will be successful, if we follow these steps. To give ourselves a best chance to succeed in the interview, we have to research as much as possible about the job, rehearse with mock interviews, and plan for the day well in advance. The first step in this process is to research the company, and the position we are applying for. Most companies in today s world have a mission statement that outlines their business structure, priorities, and goals. For example, The Body Shop, which sells body soaps and lotions, strongly against animal testing. Dropping hints at the interview that we concern about animal rights will impress your panel of interviewers. Another way to improve our knowledge about the company is to read over the company s annual report and organizational structure. Specifically, we can actually check their Web sites, use online public directories such as Hoovers.com or Yahoo Finance, and request data from the
  • 10. My Team s First Robotics Competition Of The Season It was two in the morning, five hours before my team s first robotics competition of the season. We d already worked tirelessly, but were planning one last test run before going to bed. The robot was driving over the ramp when, all of a sudden, it stopped. The tank treads that we had researched and trusted had snapped in half. Most of us yelled in frustration, but not our team leaders, Max and Matt. They picked up the robot, brought it back to the work table, and within an hour, they had orchestrated a creative solution to the snapped tread. Watching the way they managed the situation, I felt inspired: I was only a freshman but I wanted to know what they knew. Over the course of the next two years, I learned from Max and Matt the different ways to cut metal, how to solder wire, how to write basic code for the robot, and how to design mechanisms that would ensure the greatest reliability. I learned how to document my work in an engineering notebook and how to explain to judges the way our team operates. As I gained more experience and grew more committed to the team, I began to come into the robotics lab during lunch and on Sundays. I was always eager to keep working. By my junior year, I was ready to take on a leadership role. That year, as at the start of every season, all participants in the league watched a video detailing the tasks our robots would need to perform in the various competitions. The hardest and most valuable of the year s challenges was to design
  • 11. Should Torture Be Allowed In The United States Joshua Betancur Professor Molinari English 101 20 October 2015 Should torture be allowed in the United States? Since the time of Ancient Greece, there has been an ongoing debate whether torture should be permitted in the United States of America. Torture is define as the intentional use to inflict physical or physiological pain to control and gain advantage over an individual. Torture methods administered during the medieval times were much more malicious than today s punishments. In the United States, torturing individuals is forbidden regardless of the circumstance. Using torture as a punishment has been outlawed by the U.S. Supreme court since the 1890 s, and is now included in the Eight amendment. We Americans see ourselves, as the good people in the world, not bad people who torture others. Opinions among Americans have shifted in light of the 9 /11 attacks and the ongoing war in Afghanistan, torture is much more accepted than ever before. There, are many reasons why torture should be justified especially during time of war, however, it goes against many American morals. Even if someone deserved to be tortured, which many who are tortured in the end are found to be not guilty of the crime. Nobody has the right to deliberately harm another human being with the intention of causing the maximum physical and emotional pain. • 13. Mental Illness In Gran Torino Our experiences shape who we are. Gran Torino by Clint Eastwood is a moving film that depicts topics such as racism, mental illness and sacrifice in a modern setting without sugarcoating. In the film, korean war veteran and curmudgeon Walt Kowalski becomes an unexpected hero and father figure to nextdoor neighbour Thao Lor. Gran Torino begins in a funeral home, where protagonist Walt is mourning the death of his spouse, grimacing at the reality of being widowed and the disrespect of his children and their families. After the death of his wife, Mr. Kowalski does little other than drink his weight in beer daily and make critical comments towards his neighbours and surrounding community. Besides the company of his yellow labrador Daisy, Walt is alone with his thoughts. Because Walt acquired racism through experience where the race he discriminates was an enemy in reality, it is not truly one of his traits and can be undone as he is human and is able to overcome his mental illness, which is the reasoning for his intolerance. Initially, Walt is racist because he has been trained not to trust koreans and will not be bothered to distinguish the difference between who he had fought and his neighbours. He struggles to realize that he is no longer at war and mentally is unable to move on from that state of mind. In a scene following Walt s first threat towards the gang, it is evidently identified that he is still living in the past through an interaction between him and Father

Another example may be the number people that signed the petition and the year that Douglas Southall Freeman School opened, which is 1954 (Shapiro). Therefore, because Shapiro used a large number of people in which, for example, of a County, is somehow significant because the numbers show a positive argument of the article. Also, by showing the year that the school was opened, the year may represent a phenomenal proof of the argument because it may be showing that the story of the Confederate flag may have started in between the decade when the school was created. Nevertheless, given that many readers would want source links because they may think that source credibility is the most important element, Shapiro s unwavering path to credibility may be at risk. Many readers analyze many texts or articles because of their website and author s transparency to the readers to access the source links. For this reason, the capacity for readers to see where the information came from, may be a way to not lead the website into a façade and a way to guarantee that the information is reliable and credible. In spite of the fact given that many readers seek credible sources that possess source links, the fact that Shapiro used words such as some, often and more than, he may not be showing a strong certainty
  • 15. Why Do Dog Sneezing Dog Sneezing By Tim Delaney Jan 4, 2013 Are you concerned about your dogs constant sneezing? If your dog is sneezing, it s not always a reason for concern. Dog sneezing is often a natural reaction to particles, pollen, or some other irritant in the dog s nasal membranes. Sneezing is not always due to allergies or sickness; however, if your dog is suffering from an illness like kennel cough (Bordetella) or some other bronchial infection, then you should consider putting your pet on all natural pet health supplements, which can help support healthy respiratory function in your dog. One product that has proven to be an excellent solution to dog sneezing, is called Ox E Drops. There are two types of dog sneezing activities. There is the normal involuntary reaction to foreign bodies in the dog s membrane that cause the dog just like humans to sneeze as a natural reaction to remove the irritant; there is also a natural voluntary habit called Reverse Sneezing. This is a normal activity that dogs will use voluntarily to remove a discomfort from their nasal passage or throat. This is akin to the habit of gagging. The part that is not copied during replication can be an entire chromosome or even a single nucleotide. A nucleotide is made up of a phosphate group, nitrogenous base and a sugar molecule (deoxyribose). Adenine, Cytosine, Guanine and Thymine make up the 4 nitrogenous bases in DNA. DNA has a complementary strand and a master strand. When C is present on the master strand, the complementary strand will have G present. A pairs with T and C pairs with G. Not to say that creating a magazine about completely new information wouldn t be interesting in some way, but rather that I was able to really invest myself into the topic I chose because of my close relationship with the topic. It can be really daunting when you see pictures of waterways overwhelmed by plastic debris in other developing countries or a video of a plastic straw stuck in the nose of a poor sea turtle (that is another story in itself). I think it is vital for the readers to realize that we can only do so much to aid in situations like those. However, I want to show them that the ripples we cast do make a difference. I have found that to be very true in my life. Every time someone tells me they think of me because of some plastic they threw away or something they did to be more sustainable, the fire in my heart grows exponentially. That is the power that I want the reader to realize they have. Next, the couple of advertisements that I included in my magazine are sort of akin to transitions. I created both of them from products that I use in my life and paired them with rather bleak statistics to persuade the reader to think twice about the disposable products in our

  • 31. Foreign Direct Investment Inflows Help Countries Improve... There is a long standing belief that foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows help the countries to have the opportunity to make further improvements on their economies. In recent decade, this belief strengthened by the fact that faster growing economies tend to attract more FDIs. Even if the direction of causality between FDI and growth is not absolute yet, positive impacts of FDI such as new technology, know how or creating employment are enough attractive for policymakers. Consequently, investigating factors that pull FDI into country became a crucial topic in the literature. One of the most significant factors of FDI inflows is trade openness. The term trade openness refers to the degree, of which an economy allows to conduct trade transitions with other economies (Skouloudakis et al., 2013;12). The degree of a country s openness can influence FDI in various ways. For instance, with high degree of trade openness and low trade costs, multinational enterprises (MNE) can prefer export rather than FDI. Therefore, trade openness can negatively affect FDI inflows. On the other hand, higher degree of trade openness implies lower costs adding to the total cost of a product and less trade restrictions. MNEs want to take advantage of the low cost of natural factor endowments (labor, capital, technology). Thus, trade openness can positively affect FDI inflows (Seim, 2009; 5). Therefore, the evidence of trade openness as a determinant of FDI is controversial in literature.

The spectrum is limited, but multiple access techniques allow a large number of mobile users to share the same allocated spectrum efficiently and use the same bandwidth at the same time without degrading the existing quality of service. Sending and receiving simultaneously information to and from the base station is desirable among wireless communication systems. Equipping these base stations with smart antenna arrays enable beam steering in contrast to sectorized single antenna systems. This make possible to Base Stations to send data to specific users on the down link or to receive directed data on the up link by reusing channels within a cell for Mobile Stations (MS), spatially separated by smart antenna arrays. Cellular system divides the area into cells where mobile units are located and aims to increase the capacity of the channel with an efficient level of quality of service. In the past century, the number of alien species introduced to the islands by humans /human activity dramatically increased and a total of 1,579 alien species has been recorded, with 1,476 of those species becoming established (Toral Granda et al. 1). Alien species are deemed invasive or noninvasive depending on their cultural value as social and economic benefits or detriments (Kopelson 10). According to the European Environment Agency, invasive species are defined as having negative [and devastating] effects on its surroundings, for example by outcompeting or predating on native species ( Invasive Alien Species ). The negative impacts of invasive species is particularly strong on island systems. In the Galapagos Islands, habitat and biodiversity loss is considerable due to the isolation of the islands that results in an
  • 45. Ethical Responsibilities At The Termination Of Their Group .54#2. What are your ethical responsibilities to group members at the termination of their group? Explain As a group leader, I have a myriad of ethical responsibilities to the group members, especially at the closing of the group. I need to exercise due diligence by using sound professional judgement to make sure each of my clients have some form of closure before they leave the group. In order to facilitate and prepare the group members for closure, I wantto address three main points; I want to consolidate what they learned in the group, understand what they will do with what they learned, and how will they continue receiving support. Each member should share during this time. By consolidating what these men learned in this group, we will be able to understand where each member stands. In this group, members should have learned how to deal with their stress levels and find meaning in their diagnosis. Ethically, I needto recap during the last sessions with the clients to remind them what they have learned so the group experience was not for naught. Accordingly, I want to summarize with the group what they learned about the challenges of being HIV positive while encouraging them to use the skills they learned in the group outside of the group, while keeping the confidentiality of the group members. Accordingly with my facilitation, the clients should explore and summarize for themselves what they learned and how they have changed in the group over the past twelve weeks.
  • 46. Capitalism In Brave New World Evolution is a natural process of the world. Dinosaurs are no longer in existence, and the giant pandas are not too far behind. Yet when it comes to humans, people have trouble acknowledging that the human race, too, will have to come to an end; or as Kurzweil predicts, will have to adapt into something better in terms of evolution. However, the current state of society, in which everyone is strung on a hierarchy until the day he dies, the singularity will produce a less that favorable result. Though inevitable and imminent, the singularity will make people increasingly unhappy by enhancing the socially constructed hierarchies that separate us from free will (Singularity). Capitalism prevents us from valuing ourselves, which is why we aren t happy. In Brave New World, it is obvious that capitalistic ideals drive the society, in which their sole purpose is to consume, as they believe that [one] can t consume much if [one sits] still and [reads] books (Brave New World 50). The desire to produce, consume, and earn money at the end of it all makes us stray from the activities that bring people the most pleasure. We are so caught up in making money and getting ourselves higher on the never ending hierarchy that the idea of leisure and happinessis forgotten. Though the technology that supports capitalism is thought to be highly developed and is a result of our most intellectual advances, the reality is that we are becoming reliant on technology in order to make us happy;
