Infant Mortality Rate(IMR)
It is a ratio of death under 1 year of age in a given year
to the total number of live birth.
or
It is the total number of infants death per thousand
live birth at a specific year.
CONTD….
 It is most universally accepted indicator of the health
status of infants.
 High Infant Mortality Rate indicates that the social,
economic and health status of a country is not in
good condition.
 It also show higher level of the health status of the
people.

place within specific year.
B= total number of live births happening in that
