WHY?
We wanted to know why people think
Government Schools do not provide good
quality of education and facilities to the
students as compared to Private Low income
schools in Mumbai.
RTE…….
(RIGHT TO EDUCATION)
•Free and compulsory education for children
between 6 to 14 age group.
•Education is a fundamental right, admission based
on caste, reservation, no donation or fees and no
interview of child or parents for admission.
•Every child has a right to full time elementary
education of satisfactory and equitable quality in a
formal schools which satisfies certain norms and
standards.
WHAT?
We chose Survey as a tool to collect the data in following
communities of Mumbai (Kurla, Worli and Prabhadevi).
Students from 7th to 10th std were surveyed.
We chose localities on the basis of:
•Student’s economical background.
•Our community.
•Areas where Private Low income and government
Schools exist.
•30 houses from each communities were surveyed.
Research and reading reports
HYPOTHESIS
Our hypothesis was that there would not be
much differences between Private Low
income schools and Government schools on
the basis of quality education, effective
teaching, infrastructure and facilities for
students.
Result of our survey proved that our
Hypothesis was correct.

Infrastructure, good teaching and teachers?
•How does education makes sense in your life?
•Would you prefer changing school? Why?
OUR WORK
•Identifying communities,
•Creating survey questions,
•Preparing survey sheets,
•Reading RTE, ASER and
Praja white paper reports
•Visiting communities for surveys,
•Data collection,
•Data entry,
• Data analyzing,
• Data publishing,

ACHIEVEMENTS
AND
CHALLENGES
•We learnt to do research.
•We learnt effective ways of survey.
•We also learnt to prepare a report for
publishing.
•Our biggest challenge was to work in a team.
•We were also not able to manage our timing.
•It was difficult to travel to unknown places
for survey.
