This document summarizes a student research project comparing the quality of education between government schools and private low-income schools in Mumbai. The students conducted surveys of 7th-10th grade students in three communities, asking about facilities, teaching quality, and reasons for attending or wanting to change schools. Their hypothesis that there would be little difference between the school types proved correct based on the survey results. Across communities, government schools generally had better teaching quality while infrastructure and facilities varied between school types by community. Most students understood the importance of education but some did not know their reasons for studying.
