This document discusses a small savings recurring deposit program started by students at a rural school in Kanchipuram District. The students wanted to help their poor classmates afford notebooks and educational tours. They planned a program where students would save small amounts of money with the post office to earn interest over time. The students discussed the program with teachers, parents, and the headmaster, who agreed to give money to their children to deposit into the savings program. The program was then shared with other students from grades 6 to 8 at the same school to help them also start saving money.
