3. Kids always
await a birthday
party and
orphans are not
an exception.
What are they
thinking being in
an orphanage
when their
birthday is
approaching?
8. While there were many, we
zeroed on HOPE
foundation.
The organisation offers
support to children and
vulnerable communities.
We spoke to the people
there and asked them if
they had any birthdays in
the month ahead.
We identified four such
boys and two girls.
9. HOLD HANDS: Invite other students
It was time to start preparing for the birthday,
and for that we needed our friends.
10. We went to different classes,
apprising students of our
initiatives and at the same time
asking for their support.
Our friends, of course, were
happy to help.
11. MARCH ON: Ready to party
Armed with balloons, greeting cards, cake, food and a
bagful of smiles, we were ready to celebrate.
12. The team along with other volunteers arrive at their destination – HOPE Foundation
13. ON THE FIELD: Setting the party hall
No party is complete without the perfect hall.
And so we began.
14. We put up balloons to give
our party the perfect pop of
colour.
Our friends who were now
our volunteers helped us
with this task.
15. IN FULL SWING: Cut creamy cake
It was time for the star of the party – the cake.
17. Students from the school feed the cake to the orphans they shared their birthday with
18. TAKING OVER: Muppet show
What’s a party without its fair share of
rock and roll ie entertainment.
19. Students present a muppet show
We organised a muppet show for our new friends, ensuring that they had a
gala time on their birthday.
The show focused on values like brotherhood, courage and humility.
20. IT’S A VICTORY: Birthday lunch
Birthdays are time to make merry, and what
better to do that than over lunch.
21. Everyone The team serves food enjoys the lunch
We had taken along food with us, which we happily served and
enjoyed a great lunch with our new found friends.
22. SIGNING OFF: Cards & gifts
Gifts are the perfect ending to any birthday party.
23. The team distributes cards
We gave the kids a small birthday gift.
We gave greeting cards to not just the ones celebrating their birthdays,
but to every child in the orphanage as a token of remembrance.
