1. Introduction of Design for Change
project in the Government Upper
Primary School of Basari, Jhunjhunu,
Rajasthan by Head Master Mr.
Ramniwas Manjhu along with fellows
from Piramal Foundation for Education
and Leadership. Previous DFC photo
stories and videos were shared.
For the first time students of this school
felt that they have a chance to do
something for their village/society.

problem…

Yes I can!

5. There are too many problems in the village, tell
me which one do you think is most important ?
Let’s discuss…

6. We think one problem
we can work on is the
excessive use of plastic
bags in our village.
Due to this we face:
1. Blockage in the
drains
2. Harmful for our
animals.
3. Burning it produces
toxic gases.

7. How about we make
paper bags from old and
non used paper and cloth
for the village and also
teach them how to make
them. Its possible if we do
this together.

school office.

8. I made the first bag… this is just the beginning…

9. Paper bags are so
easy to make, lets
make as many as we
can and get rid of the
plastic in our village.

10. 200 bags!! Of
different sizes and
styles! Its time to
head out…

11. But before that can
we role play to
understand what
questions the people
in the village might
ask?

12. We all went to the
village, we spoke
to people about
the harmful use of
plastic, distributed
bags and also
taught them how
to make it easily at
home.

13. Lets distribute them to as many people as
possible!

14. ..of different age groups, genders and
occupations.
“Don’t worry I will stop using plastic
from today and even will not allow
my family and friends to do the
same”
