Shenia's Success Story
The morning of the 5 Schools in 5 Hours tour,Shenia shared her plan to enroll her daughter in the
Kansas City Public School that was closest to her home. The location's convenience would mean
she would be able to easily get her to and from school, giving the family more time to spend
together and less in the car. She also wouldn't have to worry about who would pick her up on days
where work went longer than expected,as it was close to her father's home as well. The tour was a
good way for her to connect with the teachers at the school, find out more about the programs
offered, and get familiar with the building. She would just be along for the ride as they visited the
other schools, but felt it was worth it to get this first-hand experience. She knew the importance of
continuing to be active in her daughter's education.
As they went from school to school, parents were asking important questions at each one they
visited. These were good questions to consider and Shenia saw opportunities for her daughter that
she hadn't necessarily considered before. When she visited Crossroads Academy she discovered
they have the creative and challenging curriculum that her daughter needed in order to further grow
her education. Another positive factor was that Crossroads offered transportation, an important
factor in Shenia's decision making process.
Shenia's daughter has since been accepted to Crossroads Academy of Kansas City. Shenia is
grateful for this opportunity for her daughter and knows that she will receive the education that is
best for her. They have the creative edge that her daughter needs to keep her active and engaged in
her education. Crossroads Academy's model for achievement allows her to spend her days with
outstanding teachers, studying a rigorous curriculum in a creative and focused environment, to
ensure she is on track to succeed in higher education.
